Why Hollywood Won't Cast Nikki Reed Anymore - Duration: 5:39.
Nikki Reed has enjoyed both critical and commercial successes during the course of her still-young
career, but lately the actress seems to be more famous for her personal endeavors than
her screen time.
So, what happened to make the Twilight alum's career turn as stone cold as the vampire she
portrayed in the hit film series?
Here are some theories as to why Hollywood has lost its thirst for Nikki Reed.
Early stride
Reed's very first foray into show business came when she co-wrote the screenplay for
the semi-autobiographical indie film Thirteen when she was just a teenager.
Reed had enjoyed a longstanding friendship with Hollywood production designer Catherine
Hardwicke, who helped Reed write the script for the film she starred in.
The film was a huge success for both women, as it launched both Hardwicke as a director,
as well as Reed's acting career.
Ever since that movie, though, Reed hasn't replicated her success as a screenwriter,
even though her time on screen was just beginning.
High pressure
Thanks to her work on the script and the screen in Thirteen, Reed became someone to watch
after the film's release and later told Nylon that the sudden attention she received was
difficult for her to process at the time.
"It was a feeding frenzy, and I wasn't ready.
I couldn't understand what was happening.
I didn't have any media training—I didn't have anybody but myself.
I was a very sensitive kid who then had to condition myself to desensitize."
Despite her hesitation, she eventually began steadily working in front of the cameras,
starring in Hardwicke's next feature film Lords of Dogtown and landing a recurring role
in the hit teen soap The O.C.
Unfortunately, she had trouble finding the same kind of critical praise she'd enjoyed
in Thirteen, as her small-time starring vehicles, like Mini's First Time and Cherry Crush simply
didn't impress.
The Twilight Zone
Thanks to her close affiliation with Catherine Hardwicke, Nikki Reed was a shoo-in for a
role in Twilight, the big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's young adult vampire novels.
Reed was cast as Rosalie Hale, the impossibly beautiful adopted sister to sparkly heartthrob
Edward Cullen, and once the film became a full-on star-making phenomenon, Reed's status
as an "it" girl was officially solidified.
There was a downside to her part in the Saga too, though.
Some fans of the books opposed the selection of Reed for the role of the blonde stunner,
which gave Reed some serious self-confidence issues.
To make matters worse, the character was also quite off-putting and cruel, which may have
blurred the lines between Reed's real-life personality and the one she portrayed on-screen.
More importantly, the movies pegged her for more an ensemble actress than a leading lady.
Before the Twilight Saga, she was often seen as a central provocateur, but after the vampire
franchise, her roles have been more secondary in nature.
And even those movies haven't done well, often heading straight-to-streaming or getting shunned
by reviewers.
"This is brutal.
This?
Moviemaking?
I don't know what's going on."
Making music
At the tail end of the Twilight films, Reed began to dabble in music, thanks in part to
her former marriage to American Idol alum Paul McDonald.
The two collaborated on an EP together, and the pair were featured on the soundtrack for
Breaking Dawn – Part 2 for their single, "All I've Ever Wanted."
Reed further explored her interest in the musical arts by co-directing the music video
for Hanson's "Get the Girl Back" in 2013.
Even after the dissolution of her marriage to McDonald, Reed released another album with
him titled I'm Not Falling in 2014 and later branched off into a solo career with the release
of her 2015 track, "Fly WIth You."
Unfortunately, despite the effort, that has failed to become a full-on second career for
her just yet.
Other interests
Alongside music, Reed has also dabbled as a designer.
The actress has designed jewelry collections and handbags, both of which have rolled into
her ongoing charity work.
A casual review of Reed's Instagram feed makes her interests clear.
Like her husband Ian Somerhalder, Reed has become a vocal proponent of humanitarian,
animal welfare and environmental causes, ranging from her strange 2011 "Give a S***" campaign
video to her vocal support of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation.
She told Eluxe magazine, "As I got older, and I found my 'voice,' I became more and
more vocal about what I was seeing and hearing.
I only recently became more involved in environmental issues."
It may be a new interest, but she sure is diving deep into the do-gooder department.
Making a comeback
Shortly after their whirlwind marriage, Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder decided to team up
on a professional level as well, launching their company Rare Bird Films in 2015.
The title of the company, Somerhalder said, is a tribute to their shared personal mantra
of being "rare birds flying through the world nesting all over the place together and laying
eggs."
The kitschiness of that philosophy notwithstanding, their company did recently land a deal with
Warner Bros. Television
which will allow them to develop new small screen properties for the network.
About the feat, Reed wrote, "So excited to get the chance to produce amazing (& socially
conscious) TV … Now you know where we've been hiding!!"
Perhaps Reed, whose short-lived run on Sleepy Hollow ended her near-decade hiatus from TV,
will get a second wind for her career on the small screen thanks to this deal…
It would certainly be an interesting development, given that it was her behind-the-scenes work
on her first film which kicked things off to begin with.
In other words, don't count her out just yet.

Painful On-Set Injuries That Made It In The Final Film - Duration: 4:44.
With special effects better than ever, it's easy these days for filmmakers to portray
even the most gruesome injuries in ultra-realistic fashion.
But sometimes, what you see up on the big screen isn't fake at all, it's the real thing.
Accidents do happen, after all, and directors often choose to leave that footage in the
final film.
Here's a look at some painful on-set injuries we witnessed on the big screen.
Channing Tatum in Foxcatcher
Channing Tatum strove for authenticity as wrestler Mark Schultz in Foxcatcher, up to
and including the part where when he gets bruised, beat up and battered.
While shooting a wrestling scene with co-star Mark Ruffalo, Tatum told Ruffalo to slap him
during the grappling "just to get it over with."
Ruffalo Hulked out and slapped Tatum so hard that it popped an eardrum.
In another scene, the script calls for Tatum to have a mental breakdown in a hotel room.
Not in the script: Tatum getting so worked up that he smashed his head against a mirror.
That's his real blood.
"Wrestling's not something you actually fake, you really have to get slammed and get headbutted
and stuff."
Brad Pitt in Troy
While filming a battle scene for the 2004 epic Troy, Pitt landed awkwardly, and you
can briefly see the pain on his face.
He's not faking it.
In a moment of supreme irony, Pitt, playing the Greek warrior Achilles, ruptured his Achilles
tendon.
Pitt later said, "It's sad, it's stupid, but it's true.
It's such a dumb headline."
Diane Kruger in Inglourious Basterds
The scene in which Hans Landa strangles German spy Bridget von Hammersmark was a pivotal
one during filming of Inglourious Basterds.
It was so important that director Quentin Tarantino didn't want to leave anything to
chance—like trusting actor Christoph Waltz to do it correctly.
"So I just said to her, 'What I wanna do is I'm gonna be the hands and what I'm gonna
do is...
I'm just gonna strangle you."
Those are Tarantino's hands wrapped around Kruger's neck in the final cut.
Also in the final cut: Kruger passing out.
Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange
During one of the most famous scenes in Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, thug Alex is
brainwashed into not wanting to commit criminal acts when he's forced to watch film footage
of the old ultraviolence until it makes him sick.
As part of the treatment, he's strapped into a chair with his eyes clamped open—preventing
him from even blinking.
Periodically, a hand reaches into frame and places eyedrops into McDowell's eyes.
That's actually a real doctor administering the moisture because, in some of the other
takes for the shot, the clamps slipped and scratched one of McDowell's corneas.
The doctor was hired to ensure McDowell didn't get more injured.
Sean Bean in Patriot Games
He's famous for dying on screen, but unlike his character, Bean escaped the 1992 action
thriller Patriot Games alive—but not entirely unscathed.
During the climactic fight on a speedboat, Harrison Ford actually struck Bean with a
metal hook.
It gave Bean a gash just above his left eyebrow that spilled a lot of very real blood—and
the take was used in the final cut of Patriot Games.
Bean doesn't really mind the scar it left behind, either, telling a reporter, "It's
in the right place."
Daryl Hannah in Blade Runner
Unlike her replicant Blade Runner character Pris, Daryl Hannah is 100 percent human—and
thus susceptible to the type of mishap that left her with a painful lasting reminder of
her time on the set.
During a scene in which Pris runs away from genetic designer J.F. Sebastian, Hannah slipped
and fell onto a car, smashing the window with her elbow.
It looks awesome in the movie and it's totally in character for the tough Pris, but it wasn't
planned.
It's pouring down rain in the scene, and Hannah had slipped on the wet pavement for real,
accidentally jamming her elbow through a sheet of real glass.
Hannah, ever the pro, didn't break character; only afterward did she discover that she'd
chipped her elbow in eight places.
She still has a scar.
Gianni Russo in The Godfather
When James Caan's character Sonny Corleone discovers his sister, Connie, has been abused
by her husband Carlo, he loses it.
Which was too bad for Gianni Russo, the actor playing Carlo.
Caan got so caught up in the scene with the smacking and the kicking that he cracked two
of Russo's ribs and chipped an elbow.
Russo is in real pain in the scene, and that level of authenticity is just one of the many
reasons The Godfather remains a towering classic of modern cinema.
"You touch my sister again, I'll kill you."

A former NSA analyst, who refers to himself as a �senior intelligence community friend�,
took to Twitter to reach out to CIA agents and instructed them to commit treason .
Former NSA intelligence analyst John Schindler instructed a coup against the president of
the United States, telling them that now is the time to �GO NUCLEAR�
Schindler also shared a message from a former friend in the Intelligence Community (IC)
that began with the words �HE WILL DIE IN JAIL!�
If that wasn�t sick enough, Schindler then speculated what would happen to a Trump supporter
if they showed up at an intelligence center in retribution for the coup.
Schindler isn�t the only intelligence community official who is sending messages to the CIA.
Ex CIA agent, Evan McMullin, labeled Donald Trump a �domestic enemy� who �presents
a threat to the country�.
Of course CNN gave McMullin a platform to spew his hate even further.
During an an interview, McMullin took it upon himself to speak for the entire intelligence
community.
�I�ll tell you what their concerns are.
Their concerns are that Donald Trump presents a threat to the country because of his � what
they see as his relationship with Vladimir Putin and the relationship of his team to
other Russian intelligence officers.�
This isn�t about Russia, this is about Obama appointed officials who are willing to do
and say anything to hurt our president.
There has NEVER been a president in our history who has had to deal with these kinds of threats.
President Trump has dangerous enemies on the inside and the outside.
He needs to get these traitors out and get them out fast!

Sania Mirza slams media for focus on tax notice, not her play - Duration: 1:20.
A day after she denied service tax evasion in response to notices last week issued by
the Central Board of Excise and Customs, tennis ace Sania Mirza came down heavily on sections
of the media for choosing to focus on �negative news� rather than her entry into the semi-finals
in the ongoing Qatar Open.
Mirza and Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic entered the women�s doubles last-four stage
and will take on American-Slovenian duo of Abigail Spears and Katarina Srebotnik on Friday.
