SYRACUSE, N.Y. — John Gillon hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key at the buzzer, and Syracuse upset No. 10 Duke 78-75 on Wednesday night as the Orange kept alive their postseason hopes.
With just 7.5 seconds left on the clock after a Duke miss, Gillon drove to the top of the key and banked in a desperation shot to send the huge crowd into a frenzy as they stormed the court.
Syracuse (17-12, 9-7 Atlantic Coast Conference) had lost three straight and needed another signature victory to go with its two top-10 wins to bolster its resume for a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Orange have two games remaining, at Louisville on Sunday and at home to Georgia Tech on March 4.
Duke (22-6, 10-5 ACC) had won seven straight and entered the game tied for second in the ACC with Louisville, a game behind North Carolina, which hosted the Cardinals later Wednesday night.
Gillon finished with 26 points and Tyus Battle had 18 for Syracuse in a game that featured 11 ties, half of them in the closing minutes.
Luke Kennard led Duke with 23 points, Jayson Tatum had 19 points and 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. They combined for 11 of Duke's 16 assists. Grayson Allen finished with eight points.

The crowd of 30,331 began chanting "Let's Go Orange!" as soon as Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim greeted Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski before the opening tip. And when Battle scored eight points in just over 2 minutes to key an Orange rally that tied it at 47, the Carrier Dome was rocking like yesteryear as the Orange hit 9 of their first 11 shots.
The Orange gained a two-point lead on two free throws from Gillon as both teams began trading shots. Tatum's 3 from the right corner was answered by one from Gillon that knotted the score at 54 midway through the half.
Syracuse then took advantage of the double-bonus, hitting seven straight free throws sandwiched around Kennard's fifth 3-pointer of the game to gain a 61-59 lead.
The game was tied six times in the final 10:12 and the Blue Devils were keyed by Amile Jefferson. Held scoreless in the first half, he scored nine straight points and finished with 14.
Trailing by eight at the break, Syracuse moved within 37-35 in the first 3 minutes of the second half, sparked by Tyler Lydon's 3-pointer and Gillon's three-point play, and it was close the rest of the game.

HI guys we have some great news
yesterday I went to see my Doctor
My gynecologist and he gave me all the bits and pieces for me to start my cycle different
tablets and clomid that have worked three other times.
So tomorrow I have to start taking my first tablet to start my period
So 10 days after that my period will start and then I have to have blood tests and ultrasounds
and hopefully it turns out to be one of these little cherubs
What would you want mummy and daddy to have?

If I get pregnant in this cycle it will be due at the beginning of December December
So it will be at the beginning of our summer
It is when I want our next baby
these three where born in winter and I can't have a winter baby again because last time
with Horatio I don't know if you know this but I was put into ICU because I couldn't
breath because I had the cold so they put me in ICU it wasn't fun
I couldn't breath so they put me in ICU so I'm not going through that again so I want
to try fingers crossed everyone pray for me to try and get our 4th baby this is the last
time we will be trying with clomid
Once I get pregnant that will be it no more clomid babies if I get pregnant on my own
that would be cool but this will be the last time we will be trying 4 is a great number
I think.

Sacramento Kings flagship radio station pulls co-host off air for criticizing general manager Vla... - Duration: 1:52.
That's one way to try and silence critics.
The Kings dealing star DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans sent shockwaves across the NBA Sunday, particularly because of the return (or lack thereof) Sacramento received.
Damien Barling, a co-host of a sports talk show on the King's flagship station KHTK 1140 was very critical of the team's general manager Vlade Divac for making the trade on Monday and as a result was pulled off the air.
"We respect the right of all of our on-air hosts and employees to voice their professional opinions on a range of topics," KHTK sports program director Kevin Sherrets told the Sacramento Bee. "However, we do not condone malicious personal attacks on or from anyone. Comments of that nature do not reflect the views or sportsmanlike conduct of this station."
Vlade Divac has been the general manager of the Kings since August of 2015.

The report notes that the radio station confirmed the Kings had nothing to do with Barling's suspension.
His co-hosts on "The Lo-Down," Jason Ross and Ken Rudolph, explained the situation to listeners Wednesday and as a protest of sorts did not finish their show, instead leaving KHTK to air a nationally syndicated program in their usual time slot.
"That was embarrassing. That was absolutely embarrassing," Barling said after Divac revealed he passed on better deals than the one he eventually agreed on with the Pelicans earlier in the week.
The DeMarcus Cousins trade sent shockwaves across the NBA, particularly because of the return (or lack thereof) Sacramento received.
