How much does a different amp change the tone of a fuzzbox? (ENG subs) - Duration: 4:19.

Buckethead: I know that stomp, it's cool!

It's mid-focused, with a lot of presence, really vintage!

Billy Gibbons: U serious? I played it, it's super fizzy, it's unplayable!

How many times have you seen such scenes?

It may be either an overdrive or a distortion, it's really common to hear really different

opinions about the same pedal.

And... if the amp is the one to blame?

It happens a lot with fuzzboxes, that are born to interact with the kind of amp

they're plugged into, and you can notice it by listening youtube demos or old records,

where the tone changes a lot by using a Fender, a Marshall or a Vox amp.

A stompbox can really change its face if our clean tone has plenty of mids,

like a british style amp, or if it's brighter, like an american style amp.

You can read the article up here to know more about this topic, so let's hear to what happens

to your favorite fuzz, here's a Formula B Mini Bender Pro II, a Tone Bender's clone,

when you pair it to a fenderish amp.

<fizzy fuzzy tone>

It's definitely not that vintage mid-boosted tone we live in a vintage style fuzz.

The things change when we plug it in a plexy-style amp.

<fat fuzz>

So, what changed?

Basically: the harmonic content.

An american style clean has less mids and plenty of highs, it's a clear V-shape

EQ.

The fuzz adds a lot of harmonics, that are more high frequencies, and everything turns

harsh and fizzy.

So we thought this: what happens if we put a Tubescreamer style overdrive in betweend,

a Dolphin's Sound Purgatorio, that we love so much because it adds

a lot of mids and takes down some extreme highs?

On the other hand, fuzzboxes are famous to be played in an already overdriven amp, which here's an OD stomp.

Don''t you think?

<fizzy fuzz got fat by the OD>

The result isn't bad at all, if you like the style.

It's aggressive, maybe too fat in the low end, but we're not looking fore a polite and gentle tone.

Just for fun, we turned on again the british style amp and

we raised the gain to the max, just like they used to do back in the sixties with those british tube stacks.

The tiny amp already crunches in a fuzzy way, and when we turn on

our Mini Bender, the total destruction comes to life.

<fuzz in a british overdriven amp>

It's not a tone everyone can play, but listen to me: playing with high volumes gives

goosebumps!

But let's get to the point: everything you just heard comes from a Mini Bender

with the same settings.

Its pots has never been touched.

So, how does it actually sound?

Is it a fizzy box that reminds a bad played Metal Zone...

<fuzz in an USA style amp>

Or a warm cream that looks like it just came down from the Woodstock's stage?

<fuzz on an UK style amp>

Well, you say it!

I'm Pietro of Accordo.it, and I'll see you next time!

Separation of Mixtures using Different Techniques - OLabs - Duration: 12:23.

Separation of Mixtures Using Different Techniques

Separating funnel

To do this experiment we require: a separating funnel, stand with clamp, mixture of oil and

water, filter funnel, beakers.

Take a filter funnel and place it on the mouth of the separating funnel which is clamped

to a stand. Pour the mixture of oil and water into the

separating funnel through the filter funnel. Oil and water will appear as separate layers.

Remove the filter funnel from the separating funnel and close the separating funnel using

a lid. Take the separating funnel from the stand.

Invert the funnel and shake it gently and slowly open the stopcock of the funnel to

release the pressure inside the funnel. Place the separating funnel in the stand and

allow the two liquids to separate completely. (Oil forms the top layer and water forms the

bottom layer.) Take a beaker and place it below the separating

funnel. Open the stopcock of the separating funnel

and pour out the lower layer of water carefully onto the beaker. Close the stopcock as the

oil reaches the stopcock. Take another beaker and place it below the

separating funnel. Open stopcock and now collect oil from the

separating funnel. The immiscible liquids separate out in layers

depending on their densities. The denser liquid will fall to the bottom

forming the lower layer and the lighter liquid forms the top layer. Water is denser than oil.

Simple distillation

We require a mixture of acetone and distilled water, stand with clamp, heating mantle

porcelain chips. Take a mixture of acetone and distilled water

and pour it into a 250 ml RB flask (distillation flask).

Clamp the RB flask to a stand and place it in a heating mantle.

Take some porcelain chips using a spatula and put it into the RB flask to avoid bumping

while boiling. Connect a distilling head to the RB flask

and a thermometer adapter to the distilling head.

Insert a thermometer though the thermometer adapter.

Connect a water condenser to the outlet of the distilling head.

Connect a vacuum adapter to the water condenser Connect a 100 ml RB flask (receiver flask)

to the vacuum adapter. Take an ice bath and place the RB flask in

the ice bath. Connect a rubber tube between the tap and

the inlet of the condenser to allow the cold water to enter.

Connect another rubber tube to the outlet of the condenser to pour the hot water from

the condenser to the sink. Open the tap so that water flows through the

tube and fills the condenser and then comes out through the outlet.

Set the temperature of the heating mantle to 56°C and heat the mixture to boil.

At 56°C, acetone vaporizes and the vapours pass through the condenser and condensation

occurs. The acetone is collected in the receiver flask in the liquid form.

Water is left behind in the distillation flask. Simple distillation is used for the separation

of a mixture containing two miscible liquids that boil without decomposition and have sufficient

difference in their boiling points. Acetone boils at 56°C and water boils at

100°C.

Fractional distillation

We require a mixture of methanol and ethanol, stand with clamp,

heating mantle and porcelain chips.

Take a mixture of methanol and ethanol and

pour it into a 250 ml RB flask (distillation flask).

Clamp the RB flask to a stand and place it in a heating mantle.

Take some porcelain chips using a spatula and put it into the RB flask to avoid bumping

while boiling. Connect a fractionating column to the RB flask.

Connect a distilling head to the fractionating column and a thermometer adapter to the distilling

head. Insert a thermometer though the thermometer

adapter. Connect a water condenser to the outlet of

the distilling head.

Connect a vacuum adapter to the water condenser.

Connect a 100 ml RB flask (receiver flask) to the vacuum adapter.

Take an ice bath and place the RB flask in the ice bath.

Connect a rubber tube between the tap and the inlet of the condenser to allow the cold

water to enter. Connect another rubber tube to the outlet

of the condenser to pour the hot water from the condenser to the sink.

Open the tap so that water flows through the tube and fills the condenser and then comes

out through the outlet.

Set the temperature of the heating mantle

to 65°C and heat the mixture to boil. At 65°C, methanol vaporizes and the vapours

first rise through the fractionating column and pass through the condenser. Condensation

occurs and methanol is collected in the receiver flask in the liquid form.

Remove the RB flask containing methanol and connect a new RB flask to the vacuum adapter.

Again set the temperature of the heating mantle to 78°C and heat the contents of the RB flask.

At 78°C, ethanol vapourises and the vapours rise through the fractionating column and

pass through the condenser and condensation takes place and ethanol gets collected in

the receiver flask in the liquid form.

Fractional distillation is used for the separation of two or more miscible liquids

for which the difference in boiling points is less than 25K.

Centrifugation

We require milk, distilled water, centrifuge tubes, centrifuge machine

Take a centrifuge and fill 3/4th of it with milk.

Place the centrifuge tube in one of the holes of the rotor of the centrifuge tube.

Take another centrifuge tube and fill 3/4th of it with distilled water.

Place it opposite to the first centrifuge tube to balance the centrifuge machine.

Then close the centrifuge machine and centrifuge the milk for 2 minutes and then stop the machine.

Take the centrifuge tube containing milk from the machine and observe the changes.

The fat rises to the top resulting in a cream layer at the top and skim milk (plasma phase

of milk) at the bottom. The denser particles forced to the bottom

and the lighter particles stay at the top when spun rapidly.

Chromatography

We require a mixture of red and blue inks, distilled water, isopropyl alcohol, Whatman

filter paper strip (20 x 2 cm), capillary tube.

Take a Whatman filter paper strip (20 x2 cm). Draw a line with a pencil above 4 cm from

one end. Draw another line lengthwise from the centre

of the paper and name the point at which two lines intersect as P.

Take a capillary tube. Dip it into the beaker containing a mixture

of red and blue inks and take the mixture using the capillary tube.

Put a drop of the mixture of red and blue inks at the point P.

Allow it to dry in open air. Again take mixture of red and blue inks using

the capillary tube. Put another drop on the same spot and dry

it again so that the spot is rich in mixture. Take 5 ml of distilled water in a measuring

cylinder and pour it into a chromatographic chamber.

Then take 5 ml of isopropyl alcohol in a measuring cylinder.

Pour it into the chromatographic chamber containing distilled water.

Mix the contents of the chromatographic chamber using a glass rod. This mixture is used as

the solvent. Take the filter paper and suspend the filter

paper vertically in the chromatographic chamber containing solvent in such a way that the

pencil line remains about 2 cm above the solvent level.

Close the chamber and keep it undisturbed for some time.

Notice the rise in solvent along with the mixture of red and blue inks.

When the solvent has risen about 15 cm, you will notice two different spots of blue and

red colours on the filter paper. Take the filter paper out of the chamber and

mark the distance that the solvent has raised on the paper with a pencil. This is called

the solvent front. Dry the paper and put pencil marks in the

centre of the blue and red spots. Measure the distance of the solvent front

from the original line and the distance of the two spots from the original line.

Calculate the Rf values of the blue and red inks by using the formula.

WHY SHOULD YOUR KIDS TAKE WINTER SWIM CLASSES - Duration: 4:59.

Did you know that taking swimming class is very awesome?

Stay tuned and we will tell you why

Going swimming is usually not on people's minds during the middle of winter.

Wet hair and the snowy weather usually isn't a fun mix.

However, taking swim lessons in the winter is a fabulous idea!

There are so many advantages that you may have never considered and we are happy to

share them with you: Having your doubts about Swimming Lessons for Kids

in Winter?

We explain our angle and sharing an surprising reason my son doesn't have ear infections

anymore

Here is our list why taking swim lessons in the winter are a great idea:

Help!

I am trapped!

It gets your kids outside of the house.

When winter rolls around it is easy for you and your family to feel the effects of the

winter blues.

Being trapped inside because it is too cold to play outside can make your children stir

crazy which in turn can turn any parent a little crazy.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is pretty prevalent in the winter.

Getting the kids out of the house to take swim lessons is a great way for them to burn

off some energy.

Be My Friend

It gives them an opportunity to make new friends.

Being trapped inside certainly, doesn't help with their social skills and taking a

swim class with peers their age is a perfect opportunity to get out and socialize.

Who knows?

They may make a new friend for life!

Be Healthy

Swim lessons help your child's body fight infection.

This may be hard to believe especially when it's so cold outside, and wet hair from

swimming make for a terrible combination.

But you don't catch colds from this because colds are caused by viruses.

The cold winter air can dry out your child's nasal passages, making it a lot easier for

viruses to make their way in your little one's body, making them sick.

Because most swim lesson facilities keep their building very warm and with more humid air,

this helps prevent that.

And on top of that, getting exercise will help boost their immune system, making their

bodies more efficient at fighting off bugs.

Relax

It's less busy.

Another great reason to do swim lessons in the winter is that this isn't a particularly

popular season to do them, classes tend to be smaller, and there swim facilities tend

to be less crowded.

You don't have to wait that long for a changing room or the hair dryer.

Not only that but doing swim lessons now will get them swim ready by the time warmer weather

rolls around.

There is no need to worry if they are going to remember their swim skills from last year

or for little babies, trying to re-introduce them to the water again.

We are great fans of the Goldfish Swim School in Mundelein and can't say enough about

it – all three of my kids 9-year-old, 7-year-old, and almost 2-year-old are happy students and

look forward to every class.

How To Speak English Like A Native - English Lessons For Asian Language Speakers - Duration: 2:35.

Hi guys!

This is a mini-English lesson on five ways to say "I don't know!"

Sometimes in conversation, you'll be asked a question.

It could be in an interview or one of the tests like the IELTS or TOEFL and you get

asked a question and you are just not familiar with the topic.

There are ways to say politely that you don't know something and that will give you a little

bit of time to think of the next thing to say.

So, in English speaking cultures, people find silence or failing to respond to a question

to be uncomfortable or impolite.

So these are ways to politely show that you know don't know something.

Here's one: "That's a good question" or "That's a good one!" meaning I don't really know.

Or you can say "That's a tricky one!" or "That's a tricky question for me!"

Or you could say "That's a new topic for me!"

Another one is "I haven't given that much thought!"

Or "That's not something I know a lot about!"

Those are five ways to say "I'm really not sure!"

The very slang way to do it is to say "I dunnu know" "I dun' know" "No clue!"

"No flippin' idea!"

Those five ways I gave you int he first part are more polite ways to say that "I'm not

sure" but you could follow-up by saying "but I would find out about that by researching

it" or "I don't know much about it, but I would ask a friend who is knowledgeable".

These are ways to immediately respond to a question and show that you heard it and not

have a lot of silence between the question and the answer you are supposed to give.

It shows the other person that you are listening while you stall for time and wait until some

other thought comes in your head.

I hope this is useful for you, please subscribe to these videos.

How to Stop Emotions from Controlling Your Life - Duration: 8:00.

Emotions are designed by nature to be fleeting.

They are meant to rise to the surface of our bodies to be felt, acknowledged, and released,

once and for all.

Emotion just wants to be recognized.

Biologically, emotion means to prompt us for action, give us important information about

our surroundings, motivate us and help us communicate to others.

However, most of us have learned to ignore this internal guidance system and avoid 'negative'

emotions altogether.

We have learned to unconsciously shut down our body's internal processing system when

we start to feel any signs of vulnerability, fear, or rejection.

We stop our bodies from allowing these natural emotions to rise up and convey their message.

We do this when we overuse television, social media, alcohol/drugs, or partake in any addictive

behavior.

Another common way we avoid emotion is by distracting ourselves with meaningless activities.

Shopping and amassing material goods are the most common ways we distract ourselves in

first world countries.

Although denying emotion is prevalent in our world today, we can't ignore the substantial

consequences we incur from doing so.

When we deny ourselves the ability to feel unpleasant emotions, they don't just go

away because we haven't paid attention to them.

We actually end up holding these emotions in the cells of our bodies, because they were

not able to run their biological course.

The body will store any emotion that is not acknowledged, as a way of preserving it, so

it can fulfill its function at a later time.

But emotion is not designed to be stored in the body.

The very act of pushing away emotion causes our bodies, and minds, to weaken.

Our bodies can and will slip into illness and disease because of this.

Anger, depression, anxiety, sadness, and shame are a few common emotions we tend to push

down and carry with us.

This is where the phrase "what you resist, persists," comes into play.

Not acknowledging these emotions encourages them to rise up over and over again, because

they have not fulfilled their purpose yet.

Remember-biologically, they are supplying us with information.

So when these same emotions persist, we must realize we can't stop them from rising up.

These emotions will continue to gain power (and presence in our bodies) until we process

them.

But ultimately, no matter how powerful they feel, they are simply emotions.

They are not something to fear.

We are capable of feeling them, even extreme emotions, without allowing them to hurt us.

We must experience what they feel like in our bodies, interpret their message and then

watch them vanish...for good.

For this is the natural function of all emotion.

Here are some tips to help you how to process and release overwhelming emotion.

In a quiet place where we won't be distracted, get comfortable and take a few cleansing breaths.

When it feels right, we can give our bodies permission to bring up any emotion necessary.

A firm affirmation "It is safe to experience this emotion", sends a direct instruction

to the mind and body, who are intimately connected.

Become an observer.

Scan the body from head to toe.

This scanning is less about doing and more about awareness.

The body will talk to us if we are listening.

Notice any place that draws our awareness.

Does it feel different?

Constricted?

Hot or cold?

Tingling or painful?

It may be subtle or it may be loud.

Pinpoint the area that we are feeling drawn to.

(Our organs are common areas we store unprocessed emotion, i.e. the liver, heart, stomach, etc.)

Place our hands on the area of the body that we are noticing the most.

Take a few long inhalations and exhalations.

We will begin to feel the stored emotion.

Breathe.

Allow the emotion to rise.

We may begin to feel very uncomfortable.

This feeling has caused us to shut down in the past, so we may experience fear at this

point.

Try to observe it and release any thoughts that arise from the fear.

We are practicing allowing the feeling to be there.

Accept it and lean further into it.

Sadness, anger, regret, fear, humiliation, or any number of emotions may rise up.

Follow our body's lead; we may want to cry, stretch, scream, or move in a certain position.

Witness the body, accept the feeling, release any thoughts and lean into the emotion.

We now have the option to take this one step further.

We may want to stop after Step #3 if we are feeling overwhelmed.

If not, we can ask ourselves the question, "What is this emotion related to?".

The emotions we carry with us stem from unhealthy beliefs we hold.

These beliefs may look like, "I'm not good enough," or "I'm unlovable," or "I'm not safe."

Continue to remain quiet, breathe, and hold our hands on the feeling.

We may begin to think of an event or time in our life that has caused us these emotions.

Specific themes, situations, or people may come to mind.

Recognize and contemplate these connections.

If a limiting belief did come to mind, be sure to let it go.

We can do this by stating something like, "I am worthy", or "I am loved", or "I am safe."

We can use any statement that resonates with us.

Whether we have discovered the origin of the emotion or not, it is now time to release.

Emotions want to be felt and acknowledged in order to be released, and we have done

just that.

Also, remember - no feeling is final.

We can thank our bodies and our emotions for communicating with us.

We can show love and gratitude to encourage our body to open up again in the future.

Discovering the limiting beliefs that are responsible for particular emotions is the

quickest way to ensure the emotion is released permanently.

So, if we have not discovered the origin of the emotion, it will likely rise again.

But every time we practice these steps, it becomes easier for us to discover, process

and eliminate these powerfully persistent emotions and limiting beliefs.

We learn how to feel emotions as they arise, and most importantly, not carry them with

us to drag us down and skew our perspectives.

Ultimately, we will feel lighter, freer and happier for it.
