Why do I pray if God knows the future anyway?
Well, let me say first of all that the question
reveals a particular understanding of prayer
that itself needs correction,
and that is that prayer is about
getting God to do stuff in the future,
and if he already knows the future
and is going to do what he's going to do anyway,
why should I bother to pray?
But first and foremost,
prayer is having an intimate time
of communion with your lover.

And you want to not only hear it,
you want to sing it, you want to participate in it.
When you really love something,
just because you know how it's going
doesn't spoil it for you.
You want to participate in it.
So, it doesn't spoil it for God.
Just knowing the future,
he still wants to live into the future and participate,
and that future includes a relationship with you.
So it doesn't spoil it for God,
and you don't know the future
so it shouldn't spoil it for you,
