Youtube daily report Feb 21 2017

What we're looking for as professional bikers in a rigid cross-country MTB

is for it to be fast, light and responsive.

That's why, when we collaborated with Orbea on the design of the new Alma 2017,

our needs were based on a bike

that helps us go fast, both uphill and downhill.

This means that, on the one hand, the bike has to

optimize all the watts we generate, transmitting them efficiently to the surface

and transforming them into movement,

and on the other hand,

optimizing our technical skills,

helping us tackle descents more reliably.

BENEFITS AND TECHNOLOGY

Acceleration

Absorption / Traction

Manageability

Reliability

ACCELERATION

Light bikes help us both uphill and during changes of pace or accelerations.

Rigidity is very important, since it is what ensures that

the frame does not waste the watts we generate.

You want this energy to be transferred to the ground and to move you forward.

ABSORPTION AND TRACTION

With a hardtail, we need the bike to behave nobly.

This means that, in spite of being a rigid bike with no suspension,

t is capable of absorbing roots and rocks

and maintaining the wheel in contact with the surface to provide traction.

MANAGEABILITY

It is essential to have an optimal position on the bicycle,

both in terms of biomechanics, to have efficient pedaling,

and to center weights and tackle descents in a more comfortable position,

in which I can easily maneuver.

I've tried 29ers in size S

and when I go back and try the 27.5, I find that it suits me better,

I feel better on my bicycle.

In this sense, having a correct fitting does more for me than a larger wheel,

When we're talking about performance.

RELIAIBLITY

Finally, as a competitor, one of the crucial factors that our bike needs to give us

is to be reliable.

It's of no use to have good legs if the bike does not accompany you to the finish line!

In this sense, all versions of the Alma that I have had have been incredibly reliable,

helping me win different titles and podiums, in world cups, world championships and the Olympic Games.

KPOP TRANS

When I open the front door

in case you're there

When I get missed calls

in case you're one of them

I can't take you off for a single moment

Among traces of you buried here and there

Only one thing is missing

I can't see you, where are you?

I can't hear you, where are you?

Everything is exactly the same

But only you're not here

I can't believe it, where are you?

Really, where are you?

If only it was all a lie

Tears that fall all night tell me that you're not here

My right hand that used to be your pillow feels lighter now

I don't hear nagging from you to stop gaming

Now I keep looking outside in case you come

I can't go anywhere, just spacing out here

I wish you were here again in my empty room

I close my eyes but I think of you

Turn it back to when we used to smile

If this is a dream, I should've waken up a while ago

where anything can happen

If this is a dream

Why aren't you here?

I can't see you, where are you?

I can't hear you, where are you?

Everything is exactly the same

But only you're not here

I can't believe it, where are you?

Really, where are you?

If only it was all a lie

Tears that fall all night tell me that you're not here

The fever in my heart hasn't cooled

I can't handle this breakup

If I keep going on this road

Will I run into you? I get locked in those thoughts

So I'm just walking

I have so much I wanna say

Even if our rings are fading away

the memories of going to cafes with you

I don't wanna erase them

I still like you

I don't wanna let go of your hand

What Would You Hear If A Meteor Flew By? - Duration: 3:07.

If there's a giant meteor headed straight for the earth, what should you do!?

Listen to it.

Hey there meteor maniacs, Jules here for DNews!

If you've ever watched a falling meteor, you might hear some weird sounds.

Sounds like hissing, crackling, and popping, which might seem obvious because, well, a

rock hurtling through the atmosphere is probably going to produce some noise.

But, that meteor is likely to be many miles away, and although sound travels pretty fast,

it is still much slower than the speed of light.

For example, when you see fireworks, there is usually a slight delay between seeing the

explosion, and hearing it, depending on how far away you are.

When you see the meteor, you shouldn't be able to hear the sound for another few minutes.

But you do.

So, what's going on?

Well, a paper published in the journal Scientific Reports, set out to solve this conundrum,

which researchers believed had less to do with sound waves coming from the meteor, and

more to do with the light waves!

See, a meteor burning through the atmosphere becomes a very bright fireball and can even

reach temperatures similar to the sun.

It generates light in pulses, and this light shoots in all directions.

The researchers' theory was that materials that absorb heat well, like leaves, fine hair,

and dark clothing, will be heated by this meteors' light.

When those objects are heated, the air directly around them is also heated, generating pressure

waves, and these pressure waves create sound.

Materials that absorb heat and create acoustic waves are called photoacoustic transducers.

So… what you're really hearing is the result of the light and heat, not the sounds

of the meteor falling.

The researchers tested their theory by shooting super-powerful light pulses, equivalent in

brightness to those produced by meteors, at various objects to see if a) this would produce

sounds, and b) if those sounds were consistent with the sounds heard during a meteor fireball.

It turns out that this theory, called the photoacoustic hypothesis, was supported by

these experiments.

Technically, this is not altogether dissimilar from the way lightning produces the sounds

of thunder.

When lightning strikes, it creates a huge change in pressure and temperature, which

expands the air around it.

This creates a shockwave similar to a sonic boom, which we hear as thunder.

In the case of lightning, this is the result of electricity changing the pressure.

But in the case of the meteor, it is the heat and light emanating from the fireball.

In fact, the paper states that fibrous materials, like frizzy hair, are great transducers, meaning

that they convert pressure into sound.

This is why people with frizzy hair reportedly hear more sounds during a meteor fall; not

only is the hair located near the ears where it is likely to be heard, it also has a large

surface-to-volume ratio which can maximize how much sound is created in the first place.

In a nutshell, the researchers concluded that an observant person in a quiet environment,

who is surrounded by good transducers like hair, leaves, black paint, or dark clothing

would be able to hear this photo-acoustic sound during a meteor fireball.

So the next time you see a meteor, listen closely, you might just hear its light.

So, what actually happens when that meteor strikes the Earth?

Find out in this video right here.

And have you ever heard the sound of a meteor in person?

LOD: "I'm learning that ADCs are not made to do damage in Season 7. I am an ultimate-bot." - Duration: 6:43.

I don't know if there was a favorite part of being in the Challenger Series.

I don't know if there's anything to be happy about in Challenger.

I guess the one thing is that, like, I guess... no, no.

There's no--there's nothing.

There's just no redeeming factor.

Yes, if you win the whole thing, you're, like, earning your org or your team a million dollars

roughly or more, so I guess that's kind of cool if you get to that point.

But I never did.

So it was a dark time for me.

But you got out of it.

Yeah.

I got out of it.

Now you're seeing the light of day.

I am seeing the light of day in the LCS.

Well I learned quite a bit.

The solo queue there is like vastly different for sure.

And it actually took me like a week or two to really like adjust to how they played.

Because I felt like in NA I could be super lackadaisical and like not even be super focused

on the game.

But in Korea, if I like blew a flash, I'd be like five man ganked even in like platinum.

Literally like within 30 seconds, I'm getting like five men dove and like just destroyed

by like the junglers that don't even farm.

They're just like only gank.

And it was like really weird to get used to but just I guess it just taught me to be like

more focus when I'm practicing in solo queue because it's easy to like not really care.

And then like...

Obviously that's just solo queue though.

I mean from scrimming, I just sorta got like a better understanding of bot lane because

a lot of NA players, a lot of any bot lanes don't really teach you that much because a

lot of mistakes just go unpunished.

In Korea, it felt like if you took a bad trade you would lose the lane and you'd be down

like 20 cs.

You'd like instantly lose all your pressure on that side of the map, you know?

Like, we played against like some really, really good bot lanes and it was really difficult.

I mean, I felt after like a week, I really caught up to speed.

But before that, I was super out of touch with how extreme, how hard you can get punished

for certain things and it just sort of taught me to think more in general, yeah.

It's up to the player, I guess.

Because I played since Season 1 and back then roles weren't really things, just kind of

played whatever you felt like.

Even the professional teams had players like legit like swapping between roles based on

like the champion that you picked.

So, I mean I just like started playing in a time back then when I would just play everything.

So I kind of just kept doing that.

It's, it can be pretty good for sure.

Like it gives you more knowledge of the map.

You know if your mid laner can't roam to your lane, and you just don't understand why because

you've never played mid lane, and you don't understand how you can make it so that he

can roam to your lane or how you can help him.

It can be really bad you know.

But like me I played mid lane for six months, I've got a pretty good understanding of like

match ups and like how we can like pressure and stuff like that.

I feel like that translates to my play as an ad carry as well.

So I think it's pretty helpful if you able to play two or three roles really well.

I played on quite a few teams.

I mean, the environment is completely different on every single team, just based on how serious

everybody is about actually competing at the top level--how badly everyone wants to get

better, how willing people are to make sacrifices for the good of the team.

And I'm not sure if I would have anything specific to say, but just that changes like

super, super vastly between each team's atmosphere.

Yeah.

I think probably even though we lost and we got memed a lot.

Like, I think Ember was actually a really, really good team to be on.

We were, like--I'm sort of surprised like how it went because we were crushing scrims

for an entire three or four months versus like even the top 3 LCS teams, even though

people didn't really consider us that good individually.

Just because our communication with each other is really good and we're like pretty good

friends with each other.

And it didn't really translate into like the super high pressure match that actually mattered.

I felt it was a really good positive team atmosphere because everyone just had the same

goal in mind.

Everyone was like super committed to it and it felt good.

Not to say that...

Obviously DIG is really good too but of course you know we have some communication issues.

And there's like two different cultures we're balancing you know.

NA and Korea.

So it's not to say like it's worse but it's like more difficult for sure.

Mixing like Korean, NA, it's like it can be for sure worth it and it will be worth

So it was like super easy, everyone understands each other.

Mixing Korean, NA, it's like it can be for sure worth it and it will be worth

it.

But of course there's going to be some communication issues in the early parts of the team.

All kinds of things.

I'm learning that I don't like rice cakes or fish cakes, and kimchi is not my favorite

dish.

I don't quite enjoy eating rice with every meal, and I'm not a fan of tentacles.

That's what I've learned so far.

In terms of the game--in the game, I'm just trying to learn how I can communicate better

with every aspect of the team, you know.

Whether that means like using or utilizing pings which are super helpful or just simplifying

like my vocabulary to like get points across more easily.

And I'm certainly just learning how I can do that better because I feel like a lot of

time if I'm winning my lane or if I'm in like a good position I have like a really strong

voice on the team, and I'm just trying to learn how I can communicate more effectively.

And I'm learning that ADCs are not made to do damage in season 7.

I am an ultimate bot.

I chuck my ultimate off cooldown and see what happens, I farm my mid lane, I throw down

the occasional control ward, and I see what happens with the game.

So it's interesting.

It's interesting.

And I learned that Edge of Night is a really fun item on this patch in particular.

So yeah.

I NEED A NAP | BratKnee - Duration: 3:23.

Oh my god, how embarrassing.

My onesie's unbuttoned.

[beep] Hi, I'm BratKnee and if you know me you probably noticed that's there's something

a little bit off about me.

And if you don't know me, you're probably sitting there saying "here's another girl

with weirded colored hair, in a onesie, with resting bitch face."

You're not wrong.

I'm just going to come out and say it.

I'm cranky.

Do you know why I'm cranky?

Because I stayed up too late two nights in a row.

[The Next Episode plays] And that's probably not something to complain about because there

are college kids pulling all nighters.

There are parents that are staying up with children who can't take care of themselves

so they need to be taken care of by their parents.

I understand parenting.

Wife me up stat.

Nope, here I am despite the beautiful weather we've been having and the fact that I've been

able to go outside in like not winter clothes and have my windows open so that like I'm

not just basking in my own air.

I don't even know what I'm trying to say.

So I'm just cranky and I just want to whine about it.

And that is why I'm here on my channel whining because why not.

It's hard to do this stream of consciousness thing when you brain is basically shut down

and you're on autopilot.

So you don't know what you're doing or saying or how you look or what your body is doing.

Why do I say words that don't make sense.

The older I get the more convinced I am that we still need naps in our lives.

I realize that naps are more necessary now than when I was a kid.

Don't you ever just feel like you're one step away from a temper tantrum?

Because that's me right now.

Do I want to film?

Not really.

Should I be filming?

Probably not.

But here I am.

Lucky you.

I want to find that first old person that was like "Naps?

Where we're going we don't need naps."

And I want to shake them so hard because have you gone through a full day of work with no

nap.

Don't they have nap pods at Google?

There's so much more I want to complain about but like I've been doing this thing where

I've been pretending I'm a relatable af teen.

It's been working for me and I've got your all fooled so I really can't complain about

like, hey I did my taxes but then I forgot things to put in my taxes so then I had to

amend my taxes.

Like who amends their taxes?

Is this the definition of a shit post?

I pooped today so at least I don't have that to complain about.

Why are you staring at me?

Let's just stop adulthood 2017 and just bail on this thing.

If all the adults just came together and were like "nah, not going to happen anymore until

we get naps."

Would it work?

I wonder what the qualifications are to start a change.org petition.

I'm smiling to hide the tears because it's way past my bed time.

I'm trying to squeeze in as much onesie time as I can because the weather outside is not

frightful, it's beautiful and I don't know if it's going to go back to winter anytime

soon.

And I still haven't bought my summer onesie but it's going to happen.

Because yes, summer onesies are a thing that I googled to make sure they exist.

And they do.

So.

I know I have problems just leave me alone.

Is this how stream of consciousness videos work?

Like did I do it?

When was the last time you remember having a nap?

Mine was Sunday so I'm long overdue.

So hit that thumbs up button if you support me in my crusade to bring back naps.

I mean that's really the only thing you can give a thumbs up for because this video is

crap.

Sometimes we just have a bad day.

Sometimes we're cranky.

It happens.

But the beauty of the internet is that I can post whatever the fuck I want.

So deal with it.

And I'll, I'll see you next Tuesday.

BratKnee out.

And no I didn't just flip my hood up like 16 times to make sure I got it right without

looking into the viewfinder.

Professional.

Clearly.

I Feel Like My Mom Is Going Through My Cancer With Me - Duration: 1:19.

And to make it even, like, worse, he was killed February the 25th, I had a cousin

who was killed the same day, February 25th, another year.

But when my dad was killed, it was in February.

When my dad was killed is when my mom went into labor early,

in February, had my little sister who died six months later. So February was already

such a bad month. And then my little sister wound up dying that August,

and I was diagnosed that August. So like, her Februarys and Augusts...

Actually, I think it was exactly like 30 years. It's like everything bad happens

to her around those times. So here we go, 10 years again, like, August again?

And I'm telling her the same information. I don't know. I feel so bad for her.

She's like the sweetest person. She doesn't have many friends.

She doesn't have like a boyfriend or husband, only a couple friends at work.

She don't really do anything. She's the sweetest, little person.

Like, why is this happening to her? So more so, I don't fight cancer that's

happening to me. It's almost like it happens to her. But that was the thing

that kept me going. That was the thing that, I can't even say fight,

this is beyond fight. Like, live.

That she has been my reason, even more so than my child,

my mom has been my reason to live.

New job. - Duration: 3:36.

Hello everyone, I'm Catriona and today

I have something very, very exciting to share with you

You may remember, I've only mentioned this very

briefly a couple of times in videos

Last year I applied for an unpaid internship at an

Australian publishing house, named Pantera Press

They're responsible for publishing some books

that I've read, including Akarnae by Lynette Noni

and Killing Adonis by J.M. Donellan

Essentially, I was offered a position as an

Editorial and Marketing intern with them last year

and I have been interning since September

Honestly it's been, I think the most positive

work experience I've ever had

I absolutely love working with the people there

It's such an incredible and wonderful team

It's just so exciting getting a bit of an insight into

the behind-the-scenes goings on

that happens in the publishing industry

and overall, I've just really, really enjoyed my time there

But unfortunately, I won't be there much longer

Well it's bittersweet, really

Last week I heard about a part-time position that

opened up with Bloomsbury Australia

and I went through the interview process

and I've just been offered a job as

their Digital & Social Media Coordinator

I'm just kind of like, it's so surreal

I'm so excited, and just... *breath* Wow.

I will be starting my new job with Bloomsbury in like

a week or so

I wanted to make this video and share this with you now

for a couple of reasons

The main one being, that I wanted to let you know that I

will still be keeping my YouTube channel

and my work separate

I want to be extremely transparent with you guys about

the fact that I will be working for a publisher

because I want you guys to be assured in the fact that

my work isn't going to influence my opinions that

I share about books on this channel

With any books that I do read that I absolutely love

of course, I will want to rave about them on my channel

and share it with you guys

But if the case arises where there is a book that I

read that I don't love, then

I want you to be aware that I am under no obligation

to talk about it on my channel

This is something that I discussed during the

interview process, but I will never be asked

to positively promote a book that I don't love

on this channel, so I want you to be aware of that

Just in case any of you had any concerns at all

I want to be completely transparent about the fact that

this is where I'm working, but it's not going to

influence the content that you see

The second reason why I wanted to make this

video is because I'm thinking of doing a bit of a

Q&A that's focused on working within the publishing

industry, both as an unpaid intern

as well as working as a paid empoyee

Now since I haven't quite started yet

I'm going to wait a little while before I put up this Q&A

but I wanted to open up the comment section down

below for your questions, if there's anything that you are

curious about

There's going to be so much that I'm learning

especially at the beginning of this new job

so I want to wait until I have a bit more

experience and knowledge behind me

before I go in and answer your questions

with as much accuracy and information as possible

But I did want to put forward to you guys

the fact that I will be doing this Q&A

so you have plenty of time to ask me your questions

I also want to say a huge, huge thank you

to you guys, for all of the support and the love

that you've shown me for the past 5 1/2 years

because I wouldn't have been given so many of the

opportunities that I have, including this one

and I wouldn't have been able to do some of the

incredible things that I've had the chance to do

without your support, so I want to say thank you

so, so much, it really means a lot to me

I'm just so incredibly thankful and

I really, truly appreciate and love you all

That is my really, really exciting news

I just couldn't wait to share it with you guys

Thank you guys so much for watching

I hope you enjoyed it

Until next time, though, I'll talk to you in the comments

Bye!

With America Now Under A 'Full Scale Communist Assault From Within' And More Warnings Of Civil War I - Duration: 10:01.

With America Now Under A 'Full-Scale Communist Assault From Within' And More Warnings Of

Civil War In The Air, Should Barack Obama Be Held Accountable For The 'Deep State Soft

Coup' Attempt Against President Trump?

By Stefan Stanford

"You know Trump's good when evil is decloaking to destroy him."

As we begin the 5th week of the presidency of Donald Trump, we're witnessing something

we've never openly seen before in modern US history as parts of the 'deep state' goes

to war with a sitting president voted into office by the American people according to

this recent story from Patrick Buchanan.

As we reported on ANP, some believe that such a 'deep state declaration of war' upon President

Trump is also a 'declaration of war' upon the 'completely free' American people who

voted him into office.

According to civil rights expert and prominent 1st Amendment Supreme Court lawyer Jay Sekulow,

Barack Obama himself should 'be held accountable' for the 'soft coup' attempt we're now witnessing

against President Trump.

Has our former president committed sedition and treason?

As Jeremiah Johnson reports over at SHTFPlan, the deep state, whether 'left' or 'right'

is one in the same, tyranny: Their goal is the enslavement and complete control of all

of mankind.

Will we soon see "who REALLY rules the United States" asks this story from the Free Beacon

recently picked up by Zero Hedge?

While it's a fact that 'public servants working within the deep state' attempting to harm

the president might be considered treason or sedition and possibly punishable by death,

a well-armed American citizenry will never be overthrown by 'corrupt deep-state government'

proclaimed President Thomas Jefferson himself long ago.

JeffersonTyrannt.jpg

And while events of this past week have exposed to all of 'awake' America that there are those

who like to believe themselves to be much more powerful than they really are, as Alex

Jones from Infowars tells us in the first video below, overall, the military is not

the threat to America.

And for those who blamed law enforcement as the globalists attempt to turn America into

a 'police state', our police are not the threat to Americans or liberty, either.

As Jones tells us, it's the people within Congress and within the 'deep state' who would

use the good men and women within the military and law enforcement agencies to set up an

un-Constitutional tyranny here in America who are the threat to ALL of us!

They are 'the enemies of America and freedom' within.

As Jones also tells us, we're now watching the engineered takedown of America via the

useful idiots in US streets and members of Congress and within the government who are

committing treason against President Donald Trump and America.

In the 2nd video below, Steve Quayle joins the Hagmann Report along with Ross Powell

to talk with us about this very real attempt being made to get Americans involved in a

'civil war' in this country.

Despite the 'full-scale internal Communist assault' in US streets that could lead to

a martial law takeover of America, Quayle believes that God is using Trump as a 'prosecuting

attorney', weeding out the 'enemies of America within' that were allowed to infiltrate our

government and society for many years.

As Quayle tells us, "with Trump's election, we won the battle...but the 'war' is still

on."

trump_wants_law_and_order_restored.png

With President Trump hugely backed by law enforcement officers all across America partly

due to his promises to return 'law and order' to our 'lawless country' as well as by the

United States military who were largely 'eyes wide open' to what has happened to America

over many years, we see the 'deep state' is spewing the same nonsense 'the Russians are

coming' talking points being spewed by the MSM.

With the 'deep state' also supporting the same lawless 'globalist' positions taken by

Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, George Soros, the mainstream media and snowflakes melting

down in the streets and newsrooms of America, the warning signs of danger ahead continue

to appear in the middle of the road.

With the 'line in the sand' thus clearly drawn, and America already a 'boiling cauldron',

imagine what might happen in the streets of America should suddenly and without warning,

assassins within the 'deep state' (who were likely also been behind the assassination

of John F. Kennedy) decide to 'take out' President Trump.

Long believing themselves to be 'the real power behind the throne', as Susan Duclos

reported on ANP on Thursday, they have thus confirmed another 'conspiracy theory' and

rightfully 'blown their cover'.

With 'enemies of America' clearly still 'within', that very worst-case-scenario could quickly

lead to the globalists regaining control as tyranny takes the opportunity to clamp down

upon humanity, thus proving that the 'conspiracy theorists' were right all along.

For those spouting off globalist talking points like 'Trump is Hitler', President Trump is

clearly an America-loving patriot, a firebrand unlike anybody we've ever seen before in the

Oval office.

Thank God for President Trump!

thank_Jesus_for_Trump.jpg

While the MSM calls Trump 'out of control' and warns his office and presidency are in

the midst of 'chaos', we see beauty in the storm that swirls around him.

As anyone who's attempted to make REAL change knows, it's impossible to get REAL change

without axes falling.

Can you make lemonade without first squeezing the lemons?

And like a hurricane, while it brings destruction, the 'eye of the storm' remains calm and hyper-focused.

'Storm Trump' also proves many are quite unready for the needed change he brings.

In the days, weeks and months ahead we pray that the 'deep state' takes a 'chill pill'

along with the rest of the snowflakes melting down in newsrooms and college campuses across

America.

Americans dealt with globalist, America-hating Obama for 8 full years without melting down

like the MSM, deep state and the snowflakes are now.

We also pray that Trump wears God's armor in the 4 and most-likely 8 years ahead.

With 'enemies of America within' practically everywhere and surrounding him, a whole lot

more axes still needed to fall and a whole lot more swamp still needed to be drained,

nobody says the next 4 to 8 years will be easy.

Just look at how 2017 has begun!

For those still calling Trump a 'dictator in the making' we have to ask you, when was

the last time you heard of a dictator urging his citizenry to 'arm up' while almost single-handedly

taking on the 'deep state', the entire political establishment (as Dems and Repubs melted down),

the mainstream media, and Hollywood and actually appeared to enjoy doing it?

Firebrand_Trump.jpg

If prior to this election, YOU yourself had a chance to absolutely WALLOP all of the above

mentioned and emerge largely unscathed, would you do it?

I know I would, in a second flat, and I know full well I'd take a few cuts and bruises

along the way.

Think that President Trump won't?

Mike Flynn stepping down was largely just that...another bruise along the way yet as

Susan Duclos aptly pointed out in this story, President Trump may have just pulled off the

biggest sting in history.

We pray that those who are still melting down in Americans streets and classrooms come to

their senses...for 4 to 8 years of acting out cognitive dissonance and self-inflicted

madness can't be healthy for anybody.

With Obama still having more than 30,000 paid agitators thanks to America-hating George

Soros and 'liberal fight clubs' on college campuses teaching students how to brutalize

conservatives and Republicans, it's clear that now like never before is a time to prepare

to defend our own families should danger draw near.

And while we'll continue to pray for peaceful times ahead and an America unified under President

Trump in the days, weeks, months and years ahead, as Ross Powell points out in the 2nd

video below, all of the problems that we faced as a nation prior to the election haven't

just 'gone away'.

And with globalists like Obama, Soros and Clinton doing everything in their power to

sabotage Trump's presidency and undermine his vision for America, we should be happy

that 'the enemies of America within' have exposed themselves for who they are though

the 'war' continues and is deepening with the constant barrage of attacks being levied

against Trump from all sides.

As Powell asks us to do, ask ourselves, do we feel like 'everything is right' or is does

it feel like something sinister is still lurking below the surface?

"Stand up and prepare" we are urged as the world unravels.

As has long been warned, when all else fails, they bring us to war.

And when it comes to death, war and destruction, there is nothing that our long out of control

'deep state', that even President Eisenhower warned us about, does better.

Remnants of a Realm | Episode II | Steel Vigil, Elemental Resistance & Belts - Duration: 10:28.

Hey Eorzeans, I'm Lukile Bravestone, and welcome back to another episode of Remnants

of a Realm!

In the last episode we took a look at the Gelmorra Ruins in the Black Shroud, the shield

wielding mages, and the two handed Staffs, or staves – both words are acceptable.

A question I got a lot of in the comment section of that video was "Isn't Gelmorra Ruins

related to Palace of the Dead."

And yes, that is true.

However not in the way that you might think.

Gelmorra is a massive underground city, tunneling all around the Black Shroud - underground.

Palace of the Dead is entered via Issom-Har near Quarrymill in the South Shroud, through

a hole caused by the calamity.

You are in fact entering Gelmorra's residential district.

As I mentioned in the previous video, the Gelmorra Ruins was the only known structure

built on ground level, and what it's purpose was, will most likely never be known.

Okay, enough of that.

Let's move on to today's location!

Steel Vigil!

First of all, let me address the Haurchefant in the room.

Coerthas was not covered in snow in 1.0.

That could have been an episode in itself come to think of it.

Anyway, back in 1.0, Coerthas was massive.

It included the Coerthas Central Highlands, Coerthas Central Lowlands, Coerthas Eastern

Highlands, Coerthas Eastern Lowlands and Coerthas Western Highlands.

Apparently, Coerthas Western Lowlands does not exist.

Ishgard was placed on top of Coerthas Central Highlands, and was protected by four fortresses,

called "Vigils".

These were called Dusk Vigil in the West, Stone Vigil and Steel Vigil in the Center

and Dusk Vigil in the east.

These were all part of the Ishgardian defense perimeter, all of them having direct and clear

view of Ishgard and it's surroundings.

These vigils all looked the same, nothing distinguishing them from one another, and

they had no actual significance in the game.

It is obvious that these were just set dressings at the time, with a possible purpose planned

at a later stage, that would never come.

At least not in this incarnation of the game.

But our focus is on Steel Vigil.

Stone Vigil's lesser brother.

This was the second Vigil to be standing in the Central Highlands.

It's shape was that of all its brethren, but unlike it's brother Stone Vigil, it

was not easily accessible.

Unlike Stone Vigil which was easily seen from the Gates of Judgement, Steel Vigil was hidden

far up into the mountains.

If you wanted to visit Steel Vigil, for whatever reason, you had to traverse through rough

and dangerous terrain, with high level monsters just waiting to kill you.

Or you could use this aetherial gate via Camp Dragonhead.

Once you made it to Steel Vigil, you would soon find… nothing.

Nothing at all besides a building similar to the more accessible Stone Vigil.

Now after the Calamity, Coerthas changed.

The Dragonsong War went into high gear, and the Calamity disrupted the aetherial balance

in the region, causing endless snow to fall, covering Coerthas in a blanket of death and

cold.

Sometime during the 5 years between the Calamity and now, House Haillenarte, the caretakers

of Steel Vigil, abandoned the fortress, leaving it vulnerable to the Dravanians attack.

Soon after it was abandoned, Steel Vigil fell – hard.

Massive damage to the structure caused it to cave in on itself, and the Vigil was destroyed

beyond repair.

Soon after, its brother, Stone Vigil would also fall in the hands of the Dravanians,

albeit with less damage to the actual structure.

Steel Vigil, although not having a plot function, it is still used as a location for FATEs and

as a backdrop for certain fights and quests.

It is interesting to look at the architecture of the 2.0 Steel Vigil compared to 1.0 Steel

Vigil.

As you will see in pretty much every episode of this series, 1.0's structures were usually

smaller in scale and with less detail.

It also seems that the vigils have different designs from one another, compared to the

copy/paste design we saw in 1.0.

These could have been improvements made as the Dragonsong War intensified, but it does

seem a bit unlikely that Dusk Vigil went from this to this in less than 5 years before it

too, got abandoned and fell.

It is also intriguing to remember that there is still one vigil we haven't heard from

since 1.0 – Dawn Vigil.

Will we ever return there?

So that was Steel Vigil and it's brothers.

Now let's move on to a nice little leftover from 1.0 still present in 2.0.

Elemental Resistance.

In 1.0, elemental resistance was a confusing, but powerful stat, if properly utilized.

Already at the character creation screen you were presented with an element wheel.

Your clan would decide your starting elemental attributes.

Each element had a value that corresponded with your character's resistance.

They were: Fire, Ice, Wind, Earth, Lightning and Water.

In 1.0, gear often had elemental resistance, and it was often recommended by a lot of statics

at the time to stock up on certain elemental resistance gear before heading into farming

or raids to reduce damage taken.

Although the percentage of resistance was hard to figure out (even today, people are

arguing what actual difference it makes) it seemed to range from around 10% - 20% maximum

resistance, which is a substantial amount if you count in really hard hitting bosses.

However it is important to note, that this elemental resistance went both ways, forcing

players to strategize over what spells and attacks to use, to further damage the targets.

And just like attribute points you would get from leveling your class level, you would

get elemental points as well, to further build up your elemental resistance.

It seems the calamity's elemental imbalance caused this to lose it's effect though,

as elemental resistance is nothing but an insignificant panel in your character window.

During the development of 2.0, the dev team realized that elemental resistance would cause

massive imbalance in the new battle system and class/jobb overhaul they had in mind.

Especially considering the Black Mage now having two aspected spells, Blizzard and Fire.

The easy fix was to make the elemental resistance stats irrelevant, lowering the potency of

these stats to insignificant levels.

In the character creation screen the elemental stats will still show up, but your base resistance

is set to 50, and the bonus points are received upon selecting your patron deity.

And the extra stats you get are… well, miniscule.

Today, they are nothing but remnants of a time past.

Left in the character stats window because they either didn't have time, or because

they maybe wanted to make them relevant at some stage, but never went forward with it.

Whatever their reasons may have been, the stats are no longer relevant.

Even if you meld elemental materia to your gear in every single slot, the difference

it makes on your damage taken is small.

Was it a good idea to remove this?

Let me know in the comments.

Now let's get to the feature that's no longer in the game.

A highly requested feature: Belts!

And yes, I hear you, we have belts, but again – visually the belts you have equipped is

most likely not represented on your gear.

When you equip a belt, nothing happens to your gear, it just remains the way it was

before you equipped the belt.

Well let's wind the clock back to 1.0, and hey presto – belts are actually visible

on your character.

Taken for granted in 1.0, this feature made it possible to mix and match gear to make

them look unique and pretty.

Or ugly, depending on the gear.

This system was just "there" and no one really gave it much thought.

But it was during the alpha of 2.0 things started to look different.

In 1.0, all starting gear was based on your starting class, and the gear was literally

just a weathered version of gear you could obtain in the game.

In 2.0 they changed this to be different for each race and gender, so Lalafells, Roegadyns,

Elezen, Miqo'tes and Hyurs got their own unique looking starting gear.

And would you look at that!

This gear had the belt already on the gear, and equipping different belts did not change

this.

The reason they did this was apparently to ensure the designers' vision for the gear

would not be ruined by someone wearing belts that didn't fit… but this has always felt

like… pardon the strong language… bullcrap.

How does a different belt ruin your design vision more than… this – simply wearing

the wrong set of shoes or gloves or even chestpiece.

I think we all know the real culprit here……..

Go away, you're not welcome here!!

Shoo!

Even though the visible belts were removed, they were added onto the new gear, so your

gear now always comes with a belt attached to the chest piece, if it fits the design.

However, the 1.0 gear I mentioned earlier did not get that treatment.

So all the early gear from 1.0 has no belt around the waist.

This makes them look rather unfinished.

If you look closely at this gear, you can very clearly see the dents where the belt

was supposed to go around.

Ah.

Belts…

How I miss you.

Or do I?

I don't know anymore.

Anyway, that's it for this episode.

Thank you so much for watching.

Leave a like if you enjoyed this video and subscribe if you want more!

And tell me in the comment section what you think about the topics of this video.

How do you feel about the story of the Vigils?

Do you miss elemental resistance?

And do you want belts back?

#FreeTheBelts I'll be back next week with another mind-bending episode.

Until then, may you ever walk in the light of the crystal!

Ask Farnoosh: How to Help My S.O. with His Debt? - Duration: 3:42.

Welcome to our Mint blog here!

This week's vlog installation is about how to help your significant other with debt.

We had a reader write in, "Dear Farnoosh, my significant other has a lot of credit card

debt.

I want to help him but avoid pulling cash from my savings.

What's a smart way to support him?"

Alright, well first thing's first, love is blind.

But you don't want your emotions to cloud your judgement and derail your personal finances.

I know this is a very emotional question.

But let's be practical here for a second.

I think it's important that you allow your significant other to go through the motions

of paying off his debt as independently as possible.

If you just write him a blank check or you give him the money, it's like it never happened,

right?

And maybe it will increase the chances of falling back on old habits - bad habits.

Getting back into a cycle of debt, I've seen it happen.

So better to support him in other ways but have him go through the motions, understand

the trade-offs, set that budget, track his spending it's going to be a little bit more

painful but that pain is good.

It will remind him, you know, "I don't really like being in debt.

I'm going to do what I can to avoid it in the future."

So what can you do, right?

You want to help, and that's totally understandable and I respect that.

First things first, be a good listener.

Before suggesting your own ideas and coming to him with all these strategies, which

might be my M.O., sometimes in a relationship, you just want to like solve the problem!

Don't.

You know, just be a good listener, let him know that you're there for him.

What questions does he have?

Pull from him, get him to talk.

I think that's going to be really important for him to establish trust with you and feel

supported throughout this journey.

Reduce your shared expenses.

If you're living together, or if you're not but you have some shared expenses, look for

ways to reduce them.

Negotiate, get discounts, stop some expenses all together, that will go a very long way

in allowing your boyfriend to shore up the cash that he needs to pay off that debt more

aggressively.

Learn how to enjoy more free time together.

If you're the kind of couple that likes to go out, eat out, go on trips, maybe you curb

that spending for a little bit with the goal of being able to, again, reposition that money

to help your boyfriend pay off the debt.

And then finally, now, this isn't for everybody, but it is one strategy that some couples use

when there's a person in the relationship who's going through a lot of debt.

The other person might say, "Okay, I can afford it.

But rather than writing you a blank check, I'll take on a couple of our shared expenses

entirely."

Maybe that's rent for a few months, maybe that's food for a few months, maybe that's

utilities or cable or whatever for a few months.

Notice it's for a limited period of time.

You want to establish your expectations at the get go - this is not, you know, you're

not an ATM and you're doing this so that, with the goal that your boyfriend will take

that money that he would have put towards those shared expenses directly towards the

credit card debt.

And you want to monitor this, talk about it, be a team and if you're comfortable with this,

again, emotionally - it's not for everybody - but if you can do it and not be resentful,

might be a good way to get the wheels turning and achieve debt-freedom sooner than later.

Alright, good luck to you and thanks for your question!

If anyone else has a question for me, I do answer reader's questions right here at the

Mint blog so email me: farnoosh@farnoosh.tv and I hope to reach as many of you as possible.

Thanks for listening.

How We Chase Dopamine: Porn, Social Media, and Alcohol | Steven Kotler - Duration: 3:29.

Peter Drucker famously said if I want to know what you believe I could ask you what you

believe and maybe I'll believe your answer.

But show me your calendar and your bank statement and then I'll really know what's going

on.

And what we tried to calculate was the altered state economy.

How much time and money do people spend trying to change the channel on normal waking consciousness

and unlock these heightened states of information.

We did a global calculation.

We looked everywhere from elicit to licit drugs which is an obvious place to start but

we also looked at things like pornography and social media where the neurochemical reward

you're getting from these experiences is very similar to the neurochemical reward you're

getting in these states.

At the heart of a lot of this is the chemical dopamine.

Dopamine is a focusing drug.

It's a performance enhancing drug and it's a pleasure drug.

It is also incredibly, incredibly, incredibly addictive.

Porn addiction is very much about dopamine, right.

If you think about porn from an evolutionary point of view our sex drive is about procreation.

We're not getting any of that from porn.

We're not watching porn for what it makes us feel sexually.

We're watching porn for what it does to us mentally.

It changes our state of consciousness.

It gets us high and it's the dopamine that is getting us high.

It's knocking outside of normal waking consciousness and it's lifting us up to a heightened state.

Unfortunately porn on demand tends to be very, very addictive and people get into a downstream

cycle with it.

We see the same thing with social media, right.

Simon Sinek famously says if you wake up in the morning and you're checking your phone

before you're saying hello to your spouse that's an addictive behavior.

And it's dopamine that is driving that addiction.

So what happens with social media is Robert Sapolsky who did the foundational research

on this at Stanford calls it the magic of maybe.

When you look at your phone and maybe there's a text there and maybe there's not and you

don't know.

When it shows up that high you get, that's dopamine.

It's the magic of maybe.

Maybe it'll be there, maybe it won't.

When it shows up you get a 400 percent spike in dopamine.

That is roughly the same amount of dopamine as you're getting from cocaine.

It's slightly less than an extremely addictive drug like cocaine.

And that's what's happening.

And it's interesting because if you think about things that routinely produce a lot

of dopamine – alcohol, for example.

There's a drinking age, right.

We have a drinking age.

Alcohol releases a whole lot of dopamine.

It makes you feel really, really good.

We say okay, you can have that but you've got to wait.

You've got to be 21 years old.

We don't do that with online pornography.

We might want to do it with online pornography.

We don't do that with social media.

We're essentially putting highly addictive drugs into the hands of kids before they have

any natural defenses against them.

And what you're seeing with internet addiction, with social media addiction, with porn addiction

is the same thing over and over.

It's people trying to change their state of consciousness with a device.

Trying to get at the underlying neurochemistry and it's very, very addictive.

Vocal warm-up - Exercises to warm up the voice - Duration: 2:27.

Welcome to your singing lessons

My name is Eilish San and today we will do

an easy vocal warm-up

Warming up is important for stretching

our muscles, increasing blood flow

and give flexibility to our whole register

These exercises should be practiced, counting all,

from five to ten minutes

Guys, depending on your voice can start

in C3 (Do3), and girls in F3 (Fa3)

This is indicative as you should practice

where you are most comfortable

We will sing by steps of a semitone as high as we can,

without forcing, and then as low as we can the same way

We will do the first exercise singing "hmm"

with a five notes scale

Now sing an F,

using the same scale

Now sing an R with a U sound under it,

using a major octave

Let's finish making a lip roll

with the same scale as before,

to make it easier you can hold your cheeks

After warming up you can make

exercises to improve your technique or start practicing songs

with our muscles ready

I hope that you like this video, that you find it useful and I'll see you in the next video

Brooklyn judge tosses out motions from FIFA officials hoping to dodge corruption charges - Duration: 1:32.

A Brooklyn Federal judge gave the boot to motions from a pair of international soccer officials seeking to escape charges in the FIFA corruption case.

Lawyers for Juan Angel Napout of Paraguay and Jose Maria Marin of Brazil asked Federal Court Judge Pamela K. Chen to toss out some counts in the racketeering case against the two men.

But Chen, in 22-page ruling issued Friday, gave a red card to the defense with her decision.

In the case of Marin, the former president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Chen rejected a motion to toss a charge added in a superseding indictment in the wide-ranging case.

"As the parties agree, to allege a defendant's involvement in a RICO conspiracy, an indictment need allege only that a defendant agreed to 'further the general criminal objective of a jointly undertaken scheme,'" Chen wrote.

Juan Angel Napout was denied when he asked a judge to drop all charges against him.

The 57-year-old Napout, who resigned as the head of South America's governing soccer body in December 2015, more ambitiously asked Chen to toss all the charges against him.

But Chen shot down his claim that the charges brought by the Brooklyn prosecutors were impermissible applications of the federal RICO law in foreign countries.

"The superseding indictment more than adequately establishes Napout's involvement in a conspiracy to commit a ... violation of the wire fraud statute," wrote Chen.

Prosecutors laid out a tale of bribes, kickbacks and conspiracies over decades in their investigation of the world's No. 1 sport.
