The tomb we're sitting in has the tradition of being the site of the resurrection, the

burial and the crucifixion – all within 100 yards of each other.

I don't know if there is anything real significant in that.

I feel there is great significance in the fact that we're here.

I heard the guide speaking and he said the question that he would ask is, "What's

important about the tomb?"

And the answer, of course, is that it's empty.

But if we are only going to remember the resurrection by reflecting back to this place in our mind

we've built another idol in our consciousness where we worship God in stone.

My suggestion to you – and believe me, it's a very strong one – is to take it inside

of you.

And I think what we want is to say, "Lord, let your Light shine on me.

Lord, let your Light shine in me.

Lord, let me be a Light that shines for others so they can see you.

Lord, let there be Light.

The Trump administration could be heading toward a major showdown with Russia after

Russian President Vladimir Putin�s government said it refused to give back the territory

it took after invading the Ukrainian territory of Crimea, Reuters reported.

Russian officials said this week that they were going to rebuff the Trump administration�s

demand to return the territory they annexed in 2014.

Moscow has long defended the annexation, pointing out that the region overwhelmingly voted to

join Russia.

Critics contend, however, that the plebiscite over Russian rule was rife with intimidation.

�We don�t give back our own territory.

Crimea is territory belonging to the Russian Federation,� said Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman

for the Russian Foreign Ministry, according to Reuters.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov echoed those sentiments.

�The theme of returning Crimea will not be discussed � Russia does not discuss its

territorial integrity with foreign partners,� Peskov said on a conference call when asked

by reporters about comments from White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

Spicer had said Tuesday that the White House expected the Russians to give Crimea back

to the Ukraine.

It was the latest incident in a week that seemed to explode the media and Democrat Party

narratives involving the Trump administration being overly cozy with Russia.

According to Fox News, the Russian spy ship Viktor Leonov was spotted 30 miles of an American

submarine base in Groton, Connecticut, where it was �loitering� in international waters.

ABC News reported on Wednesday that the ship had moved to the waters off of Norfolk, Virginia

� site of another major naval base.

�We are aware of the vessel�s presence,� Lt. Col. Valerie Henderson, a Defense Department

spokeswoman, told NBC.

�It has not entered U.S. territorial waters.

We respect freedom of navigation exercised by all nations beyond the territorial sea

of a coastal state consistent with international law.�

It also came out this week that Russian jets had �buzzed� the deck of an American destroyer

in the Black Sea.

So, just so we�re clear: Trump and Putin are set to have a showdown over Crimea and

Russia�s military is trying to intimidate the Trump administration.

But, to the left Trump is a puppet of the Kremlin.

The tomb we're sitting in has the tradition of being the site of the resurrection, the

burial and the crucifixion – all within 100 yards of each other.

I don't know if there is anything real significant in that.

I feel there is great significance in the fact that we're here.

I heard the guide speaking and he said the question that he would ask is, "What's

important about the tomb?"

And the answer, of course, is that it's empty.

But if we are only going to remember the resurrection by reflecting back to this place in our mind

we've built another idol in our consciousness where we worship God in stone.

My suggestion to you – and believe me, it's a very strong one – is to take it inside

of you.

And I think what we want is to say, "Lord, let your Light shine on me.

Lord, let your Light shine in me.

Lord, let me be a Light that shines for others so they can see you.

Lord, let there be Light.

Poem #46 People rarely speak to the fire,

the curious burbling warmth, hot licks and cheerful crackle,

people talk beside it or talk over it,

or sit in silence, the fire chirps and cracks

and isn't spoken to.

It is stoked up early and left to fizzle on its own,

slowly lose momentum, burn down to dark coal

and ashes.

People rarely stop to listen, people rarely speak to the fire.

And... you know what tomorrow is?

Tomorrow's the half-way mark of the 100 Poems in 100 Days Challenge!

Tomorrow it will be 50 days, that's this Sunday the 19th, marks 50 days of the challenge.

So if you've been keeping up and writing a poem a day so far tomorrow you'll have a whole

50 poems!

That's actually kinda crazy to me, I wasn't entirely sure I was going to get this far.

And from here it's going to get a little more crazy.

I've been writing entirely free verse, this whole time, I keep meaning to add in more

form poems, and I think maybe this next week I'm going to go for it and really try and

focus on some forms and bring those to you.

That said, I hope everyone is kind of celebrating, I wasn't sure how to celebrate the 50 mark

exactly.

I'm really excited about it!

50 poems is a decent length poetry book to be perfectly honest.

And if you're like me you haven't written 50 like, worthy of putting in a poetry book

poems, but 50 poems!

That's fantastic!

I think we should celebrate by everyone posting their 50th poem!

If you've written 50 poems either leave a link down in the comments to where I can find

your 50th poem, or just post your 50th poem down there, and it would be great to get everyone's

50th poem all together in the comments.

My 50th poem is not yet written, I am currently on 49, because that's today's poem.

But I might push through and try and write one tonight and then it'll be up on my website,

which is of course where you can find all the poems I've posted.

And of course I'm going to read one more poem for you today!

I know I started off the challenge saying oh, I'm going to just choose one poem for

each week, but I usually feel like in 7 days there are at least 2 solid poems that come

out of it and then I just can't help but want to share them with you.

So I'm going to go ahead and read poem number 42.

I feel strongly the solidarity between poets.

The kneeling at the feet of one another

to offer that margin of respite the public denies.

I feel strongly the need to give other writers the assurance

I'm here, I'm listening, I'm reading what you write,

selfishly-- hoping you'll read mine.

We can only teach the world with our hands, with what we pass from our hands

to others.

Congratulations to anyone who's made it this far, and anyone who's joining in, now's a

great time.

If you start tomorrow you'll get 50 poems by April 10th, which is fantastic.

Um.

So don't be like "aw I missed the starting point." Jump in at any time!

The whole point of this challenge was just to be writing consistently and to be bringing

more poetry out into the world.

Clyde Stubblefield, James Brown's 'Funky Drummer' with profound influence on hip hop, dead at 73 - Duration: 2:30.

"Give The Drummer Some!"

Drummer Clyde Stubblefield, the man behind what is arguably the most sampled beat in all of hip hop, died Saturday. He was 73.

Stubblefield, a session drummer best known for his work with James Brown, held down the beat on dozens of iconic songs such as "Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud)," "I Got The Feelin'" and "Funky Drummer," the last of which fueled a musical revolution.

Stubblefield's breakbeat on "Funky Drummer" resonated across decades, and generations.

Recorded in 1969, the song contains a deceptively simple drum solo featuring an eight-beat rhythm.

More than five minutes into the recording, James Brown tells his band that he wants "to give the drummer some of this funky soul we got going here."

He tells Stubblefield, "You don't have to do no soloing, brother, just keep what you got … don't turn it loose, 'cause it's a mother."

The other players drop out and Stubblefield lays into the beat.

The break was rediscovered in the mid-'80s by hip hop heads, and used as the underlying, head-bobbing base for tracks from the likes of Run DMC, Public Enemy, the Beastie Boys, L.L. Cool J and others.

In memoriam: Remembering the famous figures we lost in 2017

The snare pop is instantly recognizable in songs such as "Run's House," "Fight The Power," "Shadrach," "F*** Tha Police," "Freedom! '90," "Mama Said Knock You Out" and hundreds of others.

Stubblefield's wife, Jody Hannon, said the drummer died of kidney failure at a Madison, Wis., hospital on Saturday. She said he had been suffering from kidney disease for 10 years, and had been hospitalized for a few days.

Although Stubblefield received little recognition for his contribution to music for much of his career and no monetary compensation because of the fact that he was a session player, he did earn the respect of fellow musicians and younger players.

Prince reportedly paid for $90,000 of the drummer's medical bills in the mid-2000s, and other musicians created a contributions website several years ago to help offset medical costs.

Roots drummer Questlove eulogized Stubblefield on social media, calling him "The Funky Funkiest Drummer Of All Time."

Bassist Bootsy Collins wrote a touching tribute to the drummer as well.

"We lost another Pillar Stone that held up the Foundation of Funk. Mr.Clyde Stubblefield has left our frequency. I am lost for words & Rythme right now. Dang Clyde!

U taught me so much as I stood their watchin' over u & Jabo while keepin' one eye on the Godfather.

We all loved U so much. R.I.P.

Eric and Donald Trump Jr. on Saturday arrived in the United Arab Emirates for their first joint business trip abroad since their father became President.

The pair attended an invitation-only ceremony to formally open the Trump International Golf Club in Dubai.

Photographs shared on social media by real estate brokers show the two, who have taken over control of President Trump's business operations, attending a private luncheon with Hussain Sajwani, the billionaire developer who partnered with Trump on the course.

Later, the two sons arrived at the golf course designed by American Gil Hanse and surrounded by 100 Trump-branded villas.

Nicole Bass, WWE wrestler and Howard Stern 'Wack Pack' member, dead at 52 - Duration: 2:49.

Bodybuilder and professional wrestler Nicole Bass died, the Howard Stern show confirmed on Saturday.

She was 52.

Bass, who was a staple on Howard Stern's radio show, suffered a stroke earlier in the week, according to Dave Meltzer.

"Nicole was an amazing woman. Strong not only on the outside but inside as well. Beautiful soul and kind heart.

Many people knew Nicole but few ever got close enough to know the REAL woman that she was.

I got to be one of the lucky few.

Not only was she my soul mate and my girlfriend but she was my best friend, my teacher and my business partner.

I learned many valuable things from her and created many beautiful memories in the time we had together."

Former wrestler and bodybuilder Bass died Thursday.

Born in Queens and listed at 6'2" and 240 pounds, Bass competed as a professional bodybuilder before joining Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1998.

A year later, she debuted at WrestleMania 15 in the then-World Wrestling Federation, serving as Sable's bodyguard before partnering with Val Venis and Ivory.

Bass left the company after filing a lawsuit that Steve "Brooklyn Brawler" Lombardi sexually assaulted her backstage, but the case was dismissed in 2003.

Her husband of almost 30 years, Richard Fuchs, died in 2013.

Air National Guard vet braves two-front battle fighting sexual harassment on homeland, enemies in... - Duration: 4:03.

Maj. Mary Jennings Hegar, covered in blood and hanging off an Army rescue helicopter, saw the muzzle flash of a Taliban fighter and laid down a dozen glorious rounds of return fire.

It was July 2009. Hegar's own chopper had been shot down minutes earlier while rescuing three injured soldiers near the Afghan city of Kandahar.

The Air National Guard vet survived the botched rescue operation and was awarded a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross With Valor.

But her most remarkable act of bravery came after she returned home, when the Texas native took a powerful stand against the military's ban on women in combat.

Hegar tells her story of fighting sexual harassment within the ranks — as well as battling enemies abroad — in her forthcoming memoir, "Shoot Like a Girl: One Woman's Dramatic Fight in Afghanistan and on the Home Front."

It goes on sale March 7.

In 2003, Hegar quit the U.S. Air Force after three years when she was forced to submit to a cruel and abusive gynecological exam by a flight surgeon against whom no action was taken.

Accepted into the Air National Guard in 2004, she trained to fly combat search and rescue HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, serving two deployments in Afghanistan.

But it wasn't until she joined the 129th Rescue Squadron, a unit that welcomed her as an equal, that Hegar found a home in the Air National Guard.

On July 29, 2009, Hegar was in the co-pilot's seat of one of two Pave Hawks sent to rescue three American soldiers after their convoy was ambushed outside Kandahar.

Her pilot brought their helicopter, Pedro 15, in for a landing. As the special ops soldiers burst out of the chopper, a bullet pierced the windshield.

Bleeding from her arm and leg, Hegar refused to end the mission.

By then her chopper was in the air, positioned to give cover as the other copter swooped in for the rescue.

But the pilot of Pedro 16 refused to land. According to Hegar, he had lost his nerve.

Pedro 15 came to the rescue again, landing in a hail of gunfire but holding ground until the injured were onboard. Back in the air, flying low and fast, the chopper made it only a few miles before crashing.

Hegar grabbed her rifle and hit the ground next to a special ops soldier. One of the wounded soldiers demanded a gun be placed in his free hand, determined to fight to the death.

Still, Pedro 16 refused to land.

As the Taliban converged, two Army Kiowas came to the rescue. Pedro 16 could hang back no longer. In the frantic scramble to get the injured into the second chopper, Hegar and her pilot were ordered onto the skids of a Kiowa.

As it rose, Hegar opened fire.

Hours later, at her debriefing, she braced herself to face accusations of being reckless for firing at the enemy from a rising chopper.

She recalls the pilot of Pedro 16, who had tried to lie his way out of his failure to act, eyeing the room, waiting for the moment when she'd be called out.

It came when the Army officer piloting the Kiowa demanded to know who'd opened fire from his chopper.

Hegar raised her hand meekly, only as far as her ear.

"F----n' A, that was awesome," he shouted. "I didn't think we were going to make it outta there. You got their heads down so we could lift. Nice job."

After her heroic action, Hegar was fast-tracked to become an aircraft commander. Instead, she chose to quit full-time deployment. But in 2012, she became the lead plaintiff of four in an American Civil Liberties Union federal suit challenging the military ban on women in combat.

The ban was nominally lifted in 2013, but it wasn't until 2016 that combat roles in all infantry units and special operations, including the Marines, were opened to women.

That day on the skid when Hegar opened fire on the Taliban, she played her own part in putting women on the front lines of the U.S. Army.

Brooklyn boy hero, 5, who was viciously mauled by pit bull saved younger siblings from grisly att... - Duration: 3:40.

A 5-year-old boy attacked by a pit bull inside his Brooklyn apartment jumped in front of the vicious dog to save his younger siblings, relatives said Saturday.

"He was protecting his little brother and sister so he took the brunt," Jeremiah Rivera's uncle Michael Pride said at the family's East New York home.

"(The dog) would have attacked all three," Pride said. "The dogs are not going to stop at just one. I'm sure that was a split (second) decision (but) there's no thinking about it — he sprung into action."

Jeremiah was recovering from deep bites to his face and body at Long Island Jewish Hospital. The usually wide-eyed child's face is severely swollen — to four times its normal size, his uncle said.

"I just hope that he can look halfway the way he used to," Pride added. "They don't really know about his eyes because of the swelling."

Relatives were taking turns sitting by the little hero's side as he recovered — keeping a round-the-clock vigil, he said.

The family took in two pit bulls a week before the attack. They escaped, one dug its teeth into Rivera, leaving him with deep wounds on his face and body.

"(The parents) are devastated," Pride said. "It's not easy seeing their baby like that."

Doctors gave the child two pints of blood as they treated his wounds.

"He's doing better than yesterday," Pride said. "He's not awake ... he's on a ventilator because they want the swelling to go down. They don't want him to move around."

"He's going to have a little journey ahead of him, but I'm sure he's going to recover," Pride said.

The child's 34-year-old mom, who wished not to be named, was overjoyed that her son was on the mend.

Michael Pride, Jeremiah's great uncle, said the boy "took the brunt" of the attack for his siblings. His mother was devastated by the attack.

"He's stable ... he's not in danger, he's good," she said. "I'm better knowing that he's OK. It's unimaginable."

Jeremiah, his 3-year-old brother and 1-year-old sister were playing inside their first floor home on Riverdale Ave. near Georgia Ave. about 6:45 p.m.

Friday when two pit bulls — described as "rescue dogs" — got loose from their cages.

"He knew they weren't supposed to be out," Pride said about the dogs. "Maybe he was trying to put them back in."

One of the two canines attacked Jeremiah, officials said. His father, who was alone in the home with the children, pulled the animal off the boy before running outside and screaming for help.

Neighbors said Friday that the child's wounds were so severe it looked like the left side of his face "was gone."

Paramedics rushed the boy to Brookdale University Hospital. He was later transferred to Long Island Jewish Hospital.

The family had gotten the two pit bulls about a week before the attack, neighbors said.

Even though the animals had only been on the block for a short time, neighbors knew to steer clear.

"When you do see (them), you definitely have to walk across the street," said Diane Batista, a 41-year-old mother of three who lives two blocks away from Jeremiah's home. "They're two vicious dogs. They'd be ready to attack you."

Animal Care and Control took custody of both dogs and moved them to a site in Manhattan, where they will undergo a 10-day rabies observation before further steps are taken.
