Youtube daily report w Jan 22 2018

Have you ever watched a movie with a soundtrack

you remember every moment?

The answer is probably yes

because, althoght many times it is hardly noticiable

the soundtrack is always there

the movie experience is received through two senses

the sight

and the hearing

we can safely say that the sound represents at least

50% of the movie experience

if not more

Hi, my name is Pedro

and today we're going to talk about

or rather its importance in cinema

before we start, let's clarify some things

listen this example

now, listen to this one

Obviosly both of them are great soundtracks, no?

wrong

there is a small difference between Soundtrack

and Score

Soundtrack includes all songs that were composed prior to the movie

Like in Guardians of the Galaxy

and Score includes all songs that were composed for the movie

Like in Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars and Interstellar

Many times, to keep up with the production rate

Songs from other films are used temporarily

to serve as a reference to the editing pacing

also know as Temp. Tracks

Any resemblance between two movie's soundtracks, might not be mere coincidence

While the soundtrack is being produced

these songs are used to establish the editing pacing

on one hand, this speeds up the film production

on the other hand, it interferes in the creative freedom of the composers

who become limited to praticaly copying another score

an alternative to this production method

comes from the Opera times

more specifically from the operas of Richard Wagner

German composer from the 19th century

and was named by himself as Leitmotiv, or Leitmotif

Leitmotivs are small melodic stretches

that are linked to some place, character or object

for being small, they can be finished before the entire score

to serve as guiding motives for the editing

I can't think of a better example than in star wars

with the Force Theme

The main job of the soundtrack is to set the scene's mood

I won't talk much, just notice the difference that causes the change of soundtrack

another option is to not add music

that can be better than any melody for the scene

But silence might not be the best option

Music is strongly linked to emotion

that's why there are so many remarkable films

their soundtracks are responsible of giving life

to the most sad, happy, tense and liberating moments

hearing a simple sequence of notes

can remind us of the most special moments

making sure that, through the music

our experiences perpetuate

But really I would rather be at home all by myself not in this room

With people who don't even care about my well-being

I don't dance, don't ask, I don't need a boyfriend

So you can go back, please enjoy your party I'll be here

somewhere in the corner under clouds of marijuana

With this boy who's hollering I can hardly hear

Over this music I don't listen to

The Most Anticipated Movies Of 2019 - Duration: 7:42.

It's never too early to get excited for the next big blockbuster, right?

From a bevy of superheroes to re-imaginings of your favorite classics, clear your calendar

all the way through 2019, because here are just a few of the big-budget flicks you're

going to want to get on line for now.

Hellboy

Stranger Things star David Harbour will unveil his new take on Hellboy in January 2019, joining

director Neil Marshall for what's described as a gritty take on the original Mike Mignola

comics.

Harbour has said the movie will use a "darker tone" to differentiate itself from Guillermo

del Toro's adaptations, adding that it'll be more of "a character piece" about Hellboy's

struggle.

While Harbour's take on Hellboy looks spot on, the rest of the cast is also packed with

potential, including Milla Jovovich as the villainous Blood Queen, Ian McShane as Hellboy's

adopted father, and Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan.

The movie also has signed Lost's Daniel Dae Kim to play comics favorite Major Ben Daimio.

The real question, however, is if there'll be pancakes.

Glass

M. Night Shyamalan continues his surprise superhero trilogy with Glass, a sequel to

2017's Split, whose final act unexpectedly tied in with 2000's Unbreakable.

The movie will bring back all the main players from both films, including Bruce Willis, Samuel

L. Jackson, James McAvoy, and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Details are still under wraps, and given how much Shyamalan loves twists, it'll probably

stay that way until the film's January 2019 release date.

Silver and Black

Sony's Spider-Man universe gets a female-led entry in February 2019 with Silver and Black,

headed by The Secret Life of Bees director Gina Prince-Bythewood, who also directed Marvel's

Cloak and Dagger pilot for Freeform.

She'll also assist with the script, alongside Thor: Ragnarok's Chris Yost.

The movie is set to follow Marvel's mercenary Silver Sable and the burglar Black Cat in

a pairing that Prince-Bythewood compares to Thelma and Louise.

The dark film will reportedly bring in the cyborg supervillain Gaunt, and his enforcers

Tarantula and Scorpion as the villains.

Yep, this guy.

"I beat Spider-Man!

Taken out by the one… the only…

Scorpion!"

Chaos Walking

Your next favorite YA adaptation will hit theaters in March 2019 with Chaos Walking,

a sci-fi adventure based on the trilogy by Patrick Ness.

The movie takes place on a planet where almost all the women have been killed off by a virus

and living creatures can hear each other's thoughts.

As the story begins, a young man played by Tom Holland meets a woman played by Daisy

Ridley... and she may have the key to unlocking the world's many secrets.

Though it's not as if Daisy Ridley as a girl with mysterious powers is much of a stretch.

The movie has an amazing supporting cast that includes Oscar nominee Demian Bichir, two-time

Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo, Tony winner Cynthia Erivo, critical favorite Mads Mikkelsen,

and pop star Nick Jonas.

Mark your calendars now.

Dumbo

Disney has given a number of animated classics the live-action treatment, but one of the

most intriguing is Tim Burton's Dumbo, starring Colin Farrell as Holt, a former circus performer

whose life is turned upside down after he returns home from the war.

Holt teams up with circus owner Max Medici, played by Danny DeVito, to care for a newborn

elephant whose giant ears have already made him a laughingstock.

The movie's all-star cast also includes Michael Keaton, Alan Arkin, and Eva Green.

With Burton and a whole host of amazing actors on board, this should be a worthy retelling

of the classic tale when it's released in March 2019… probably without these guys.

The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle

Putting down his Iron Man helmet for a while, Robert Downey Jr. will put his stamp on the

legendary character of Doctor Dolittle in April of 2019.

The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, like its predecessors, will also be based on Hugh Lofting's original

children's books.

The movie comes from a script by Syriana's Stephen Gaghan, who's also set to direct.

Plot details are unknown, but we can only hope Downey gets the chance to use his glorious

pipes should the movie end up being a musical like the 1967 original.

Aladdin

Guy Ritchie will reveal his "ambitious and non-traditional' take on Aladdin in May of

2019, with Mena Massoud taking on the title role alongside Power Rangers star Naomi Scott

as Jasmine, who landed their roles after beating out thousands of hopefuls in a worldwide casting

call.

The rest of the cast includes Will Smith stepping into Robin Williams' role as the Genie and

Marwan Kenzari playing the villainous Jafar.

The cast also includes Saturday Night Live's Nasim Pedrad and Into the Woods' Billy Magnussen.

We have trust in the Disney machine to make this a magical trip to the theater.

Cowboy Ninja Viking

Chris Pratt made a very quick journey from Parks and Recreation schlub to action hero,

and his big June 2019 outing will find the actor taking the lead in Cowboy Ninja Viking,

based on the Image Comics series of the same name.

This time, Pratt is a new kind of assassin who's able to combine the skills of three

legendary kinds of heroes.

It's been a long time in the making.

Pratt first signed on in 2014, but when he was unable to film due to his hectic schedule,

a couple directors dropped out, waylaying things further.

Still, with script work from Deadpool's Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and The Hangover II's

Craig Mazin, this ridiculous premise has a pretty good shot at paying off.

When are ninjas NOT entertaining?

Top Gun 2

Maverick will be back in July 2019.

Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski is set to reunite with Tom Cruise for the long-awaited

Top Gun sequel, which will be set in the world of drone technology and fifth generation fighters—and

the end of the era of dogfighting.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is on board to return for the sequel, and while it's unclear

whether other actors from the original cast will be back, Val Kilmer has said he's ready

to step up should he get the call.

Artemis Fowl

Millions of readers remember Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl novels, or their graphic novel

adaptations, which followed precocious criminal mastermind Artemis through a series of fantastic

adventures around the globe.

The books are ripe for the film franchise treatment, with Kenneth Branagh set to direct

an adaptation, scheduled to arrive in theaters in August 2019.

While no casting announcements have been made yet, this looks like a family-friendly film

saga in the making.

Gemini Man

Will Smith fans have more than just Aladdin to look forward to in October of 2019.

The actor is also set to star in Ang Lee's Gemini Man as an aging assassin trying to

get out of the business.

Things get complicated when he has to fight against his own, much younger clone.

Gemini was first pitched to Disney over twenty years ago, but the execs had to wait until

visual effects could effectively change the age of the lead actor.

This promises to be a futuristic action thriller with a nifty twist—and twice as many Smiths

is never a bad thing.

Or is it?

"Sharks have been around for longer than trees.

That one's hard to believe, but it's actually true."

James Bond 25

Daniel Craig returns just one more time as James Bond in the character's 25th feature

film in November 2019.

Blade Runner 2049's Denis Villeneuve, Hell or High Water's David Mackenzie, and '71's

Yann Demange are reportedly the frontrunners to direct.

A lot about the movie is still being hammered out right now, but none of it threatens to

revoke 007's long-standing license to kill at the box office.

Wonder Woman 2

As the DCEU's highest-grossing film to date in the U.S., it makes sense that Warner Bros.

quickly ordered a sequel to Wonder Woman, set to be released in December of 2019.

The movie will also bring back director Patty Jenkins as co-writer.

While plot details have been kept tightly under wraps, Jenkins has said she'd like the

film to bring Diana to America after the events of Wonder Woman, and before Dawn of Justice.

The sequel is also reportedly said to have found a way to bring back Chris Pine, so look

forward to more action, fun, and maybe even a supervillain without a silly mustache.

What The World Doesn't Know About Johnny Depp's Daughter - Duration: 4:17.

While many celebrity kids go on to bask in the fame of their parents, Johnny Depp's daughter

Lily-Rose is a little bit different.

Though she has a huge following on Instagram and has already starred in a few feature films,

she's managed to keep much of her life on the DL.

Despite her mysterious nature, here are a few facts we managed to unearth about upcoming

star Lily-Rose.

Bilingual

Lily-Rose's mother is French actress and model Vanessa Paradis, so Lily-Rose spent much of

her childhood shuttling between Paris and Los Angeles.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Paradis stressed the fact that her children do not

have American accents.

Lily-Rose showcased her fluent French in interviews for the 2016 French film The Dancer during

the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.

Singing aspirations

Her mother is the voice behind French hit "Joe le Taxi," so it's no surprise Lily-Rose

thought about following in Paradis' footsteps.

Although she seems to be focusing on her film career now, there was a time when music was

her passion; she even co-wrote a song on her mother's 2013 album Love Songs.

Why did she choose a different path?

Lily-Rose explained to Vanity Fair,

"I wanted to be a singer, but once I started acting, I felt so comfortable.

Now all I want to do is act."

With several feature films to her name already, she's definitely off to a good start.

Parental support

When the Telegraph asked Paradis in 2013 how she would feel about her daughter following

a similar career path, she confessed,

"I'd rather for her to have time to be a kid.

I mean, she already has such a spotlight on her just because of her parents."

Likewise, Johnny Depp explained to The Daily Mail that

"Her becoming an actress was never my dream or my desire for her."

We think it's safe to say he supports her dream now, since they appeared together in

the film Yoga Hosers in 2016.

High school dropout

As we've learned from plenty of wildly successful artists and entrepreneurs, schooling doesn't

always correlate with success.

As a high school dropout, Lily-Rose might just be the next addition to that list.

She told Buro 24/7 that when she decided on acting as a career, further schooling just

didn't make much sense:

"I realised after working on [The Dancer] and Planetarium in Paris that it was impossible

for me to pursue acting as a career and still attend classes and be able to do my homework."

"I want devote all my energy to acting and also be able to read, travel, and look at

as many films as I can."

Chanel

In 2016, Lily-Rose shared on Instagram that she would be working with fashion powerhouse

Chanel.

While this is her first fragrance campaign for Chanel, she's no stranger to the French

brand.

In fact, she told LOVE magazine that she has a long history with the fashion brand and

its creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, saying,

"I have been lucky enough to know Karl since I was eight – yes, half my life.

I have been so lucky to be around him and just talk to him."

Chanel definitely runs deep in the Depp household.

Her mother Vanessa Paradis also became a Chanel model as a teenager.

Self Evident

Lily-Rose made waves in 2015 when iO Tillett Wright announced on Instagram that Lily-Rose

had joined the Self Evident Project, which describes itself as "a photographic document

of 10,000 people in the USA that identify as anything other than 100% straight."

The post confused a lot of people who thought she was coming out as gay, which Lily-Rose

claims wasn't the point.

She clarified in an interview with NYLON:

"It was really misconstrued, that whole thing.

A lot of people took it as me coming out, but that's not what I was trying to do.

I was literally doing it just to say that you don't have to label your sexuality."

Social starlet

Though her Instagram following is bursting at the seams, Lily-Rose doesn't flaunt much

over social media, telling LOVE magazine that it makes her stressed.

She explained:

"I first started using social media when I was 12 or something – not publicly, I had

private accounts – but even since then people have been pretending to be me, and my brother."

Future fame

Without many social media accounts, it's hard for the average fan to get a good glimpse

into the young actress's life.

However, with her upcoming film releases, Chanel contracts, and growing success, Lily-Rose

is certainly beginning to make a name for herself.

And if she's anything like Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, it probably won't be long

before her name is everywhere.

Why doesn't Ford make a Corvette competitor? | Wheelhouse - Duration: 6:02.

In my opinion, there's no better example of the American sports car than the Corvette.

It's a instantly recognizable classic with performance that backs up it's looks.

Everyone knows what a Corvette is, even my Grandma, sometimes she thinks I'm my dead

uncle.

I've been fan of these cars for as long as I can remember, but lately something's

been bugging me, not with the Corvette, but with Ford.

I was eating lunch one day when some coworkers walked by "Aww yeah, the Corvette, great

car, Too bad Ford doesn't make something to compete with it, it'd probably be rad."

I was rattled.

Bart was right.

Why doesn't Ford make their own Corvette?

The Corvette debuted in 1953.

It's designers wanted the Vette to be like the european sports cars of the time: powerful,

sporty and gorgeous. They wanted the Vette to push the boundaries of what a sports car

could be.

It was the first production car with a fiberglass body and each one was built by hand.

A lot of passion went in to building each Corvette, and Chevy wanted the clientele

to reflect that

They sold the first 50 cars to movie stars, athletes and powerful titans of industry.

But the marketing stunt didn't work, in the Corvette's first year of production,

They only sold 315 of them.

I thought that was kinda weird considering how ubiquitous the Corvette is today,

but it turns out, The first Corvette kinda sucked.

It wasn't that fast, and the build quality was sub par.

There were a lot of complaints about water leaking through the roof.

It also lacked basic creature comforts, the only options were a radio and heater.

Not great for a car whose base price was around $32,000 in today's money.

It was a poor excuse for a European inspired sports car.

Ford saw Chevy struggling to sell the 'Vette and said "Dude, We can do better, for a lot less".

They got to work designing a sporty two seater of their own.

Ford's car would have power brakes, power windows, and power seats,

And of course the heater and radio.

Ford understood that Americans did want a sporty car, just not too sporty.

It still had to be comfortable, but look like a sports car.

All it needed was a name. The story goes that Ford held a naming contest

within the company. And it was won

By an engineer who took inspiration

from a coffee mug

He got from New Mexico.

The Ford Thunderbird had arrived.

Unlike the Corvette, Ford had no problem selling the Thunderbird.

While Chevy marketed their Corvette as a Europe-inspired hot rod

Ford marketed their car towards a more

'Dignified' customer. The Thunderbird The Thunderbird's actual slogan was "The Personal

Car of Distinction".

Ford didn't even advertise the fact that it was a better performer than the Corvette.

The Thunderbird had a V8 as opposed to the corvette's inline six, and it was much faster.

The T-Bird was an immediate sales success, Ford only planned to build 10,000 of them

in it's first year, but ended up selling over 16 thousand.

By comparison, Chevy only built 4000 Corvettes... in it's first three years.

But to my surprise, Ford was not satisfied with the Thunderbird's success

They wanted more.

So how do sell more two seaters?

You make them four seaters.

So three years after the Thunderbird's debut as THE luxury two seat sports car, Ford Execs

decided it needed some rear seating.

The engineers were a little skeptical

So, the new car would be longer, heavier and more flamboyant looking

Would buyers really want a less sporty sports car?

Turns out, the answer is yes.

Thunderbird sales doubled in the four-seater's first year, and after three years, Ford had sold

over 200,000 Thunderbirds.

The gamble had paid off, more seats meant more sales

While Ford was busy perfecting the luxury car,

1963 saw the introduction of the Stingray, which is my pick for the all time greatest

American sports car

The Stingray had hide away headlights, independent rear suspension, and in 1967, was capable

of nearly 500 horsepower.

That's a lot for the sixties, it's a lot for today!

It took a while, but the Corvette was finally the defining sports car it was meant

to be.

Even if it didn't have a Blue Oval rival to play with.

Ford kept marketing the Thunderbird as their upmarket luxury car,

While the "sporty"title went to their newest model;

the Mustang.

So Ford had a luxury halo, and a sports halo.

And Chevy didn't respond to the Mustang with the Corvette, but a pony car of their own;

The Camaro.

The Corvette was free to do it's own thing and focus on itself.

Like a Divoree...

With no kids.

The Thunderbird stayed around for nearly fifty years, over 10 different generations,

each time becoming less and less focused on it's sportscar roots.

The Thunderbird disappeared between 1997 and 2002, when it came back for one last ride.

The new Bird was was rumored to be a two seater, which got people wondering, maybe it'll

be like the first Thunderbird, a luxurious sportscar, perhaps faster than the current

corvette?

But it wasn't.

Yeah, it had two seats, but it was more focused on 'personal luxury' instead of speed.

Around 68,000 new thunderbirds were sold in 4 years which wasn't terrible, but Ford

killed off the T-Bird in 2005, and I haven't heard about it coming back any time soon.

As far as the Corvette is concerned, it's still kicking and giving european competitors

a run for their money, without having any competition back home.

The Viper is dead, and Ford's sports lineup consists of hatchbacks, The Mustang and the

GT; which costs like half a million dollars, putting it into a totally different

market than the Corvette.

So why doesn't Ford have their 'own' Corvette?

Well, they did have one, but it slowly evolved into a luxury car; because that's what sold.

Ford still has a Corvette-shaped hole in their line up, but with about a million different

Mustang variants to choose from, odds are you can find one to fill it.
