Hi there and welcome to Introduction (not international -sorry!) to Business business 120 at MiraCosta

college my name is Erin Thomas I'm your instructor for this course.

I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself. I bring to the college 17 years

of business experience. This is my second career. I spent in the first half of

my career at a company called Qualcomm, down in San Diego. It was very exciting

to grow with that company, from a privately held company of about 300

people when I started. When I left there was probably 13,000 or 14,000 people

and of course it was publicly traded. So one of the really cool things about that

experience of working for Qualcomm is I began in the IT department. I was a

programmer. My undergraduate degrees is in computer science and so that allowed me

to learn a lot about various facets of the business. As a programmer we provided

services to the entire company. So for a while I was supporting operations and

manufacturing and shipping and procurement. Then I went on to support

the accounting functions. I supported our sales functions and as you're hearing me

talk these are the same kinds of functions that we'll be learning about

in BUS 120. So as an information technologist, I was doing database

design and then project management and then software implementations, I got a

chance to get exposed to all these facets of business. I then went back to

school after about 10 years working at Qualcomm. I had become a director of IT

at that point. I went back and got my MBA and when I had a chance to specialize that

MBA, I emphasized in international marketing (business). That allowed me to change jobs

within Qualcomm. I moved from IT to a post sales customer service support

position in the business. So that was a startup division and we were

selling the technology that allows you to download things like ringtones and

applications to your phone. That sounds (like) pretty standard stuff today

but back in the late 1990s and early 2000s it was cutting-edge technology. And

it was super exciting for me to be part of that. I supported customers after we

sold that system internationally. So I had customers in Japan, Korea, China,

Brazil and Venezuela. And working with our offices in those countries I learned

a lot about international business. So when we get to chapter 2 (I meant 3!)

I'm certainly willing to share my experiences there. I know that not all of

you, but a good amount of you, live in the area and are on campus so I hope I get

to see you on campus at some time. If you see me I probably won't be wearing

headsets like this. I may be wearing glasses or sunglasses. I'm nearsighted

and if I don't recognize you right away that may be the reason is because of my

eyesight. But please do stop by between classes when I'm on campus and my office

hours. I would love to meet you in person and I'm looking forward to a great class

together!

Chocolate Sponge Cake Genoise Sponge - Duration: 4:48.

Hi everyone and Happy New Year to you all!

Today's recipe is a chocolate genoise sponge, also called Pan di Spagna

and it's a simple sponge that is used as the basis

for many delicious layer cakes and various desserts.

A chocolate genoise is a sponge cake that has no raising agent, and instead relies only on the air beaten

into eggs for its lightness and volume, a long beating time is required to reach a maximum volume

so prepare your stand mixer or your electric beaters.

these are the ingredients we are going to need:

eggs, room temperature (about 4 medium eggs), granulated sugar

pastry flour (9% protein flour), unsweetened cocoa powder, potato starch, a pinch of salt

Before starting, fill your mixing bowl with hot tap water and place your eggs in. Let them sit for 5 minutes to

warm, warm eggs hold more air when beaten. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees C.

Line your cake pan with parchment paper (bottom and side).

After warming the eggs, discard the water and wipe the mixing bowl dry,

then crack the eggs and place them in.

Gradually add sugar, and beat on high speed for 20 minutes until light, fluffy and tripled in volume.

Since genoise sponge is leavened only with beaten eggs, a long

beating time is required to reach a maximum volume.

While eggs are beating, combine the flour, salt, potato starch, and cocoa powder and sift twice.

Add the flour in several additions, folding gently after each addition, until all of the

flour is completely incorporated into the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 40-45 minutes

or until risen and firm to the touch in the middle.

Please, don't open the oven door for at least the first half hour or your sponge cake may not rise properly.

Once the cake is baked, turn off the heat, open the oven door just a crack, and let the sponge cake rest

for 5 minutes then remove the cake from the pan, peel off the parchment paper

and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

You can prepare this chocolate sponge cake up to 3 days in advance

and keep it covered with clingfilm in the fridge.

You can also wrap twice with cling film and freeze it for up to 2 months.

This light, soft and delicious chocolate sponge cake recipe, makes a great breakfast or afternoon treat

and it's a wonderful base that can be decorated to create beautiful cakes for special occasions.

Lindsay Graham Bashes Trump On Immigration, Not Laughing As White House Unleashes Hellfire

Lindsay Graham made the mistake of bashing President Donald Trump over the government

shutdown and immigration.

Too bad for him, things would quickly take a turn — and it's safe to say that he

isn't laughing now after the White House unleashed hellfire that just scorched his

backside.

There's a reason that the acronym "RINO," which stands for "Republicans In Name Only,"

has been born into existence.

Essentially, it's a reference to those who call themselves Republicans even though their

beliefs and policies don't align with the GOP, and sadly, we've seen plenty of them

in recent days.

While there's nothing wrong with differing opinions from time to time, RINOs pretty much

disagree with many things that the GOP stands for, aligning themselves more with the Democrats

and their talking points.

In the end, people are left wondering if these are just closeted liberals who labeled themselves

as Republicans simply to get elected in a place where red voters are in control.

What's more, we really began to see who was a RINO and who wasn't with the election

of President Donald Trump.

Proving just that, Senators Lindsay Graham, John McCain, and Jeff Flake seem to be in

the spotlight quite a bit these days — and not for good reasons.

In the end, these guys are basically obstructionists who want to stand in the way of President

Donald Trump's progress and defy the wishes of the very people who elected them into office

to represent them.

Sadly, it doesn't look like these lawmakers who only care about resisting the president

are going to be done standing in his way anytime soon.

In fact, Graham demonstrated just that by speaking to the press and bashing President

Trump over the government shutdown and immigration.

More specifically, he went after Trump's advisor Stephen Miller.

"Every time we have a proposal it is only yanked back by staff members," Senator Lindsay

Graham, who has been working with Democrats in order to get a DACA agreement and maybe

even some kind of amnesty for illegal immigrants, told reporters.

"As long as Stephen Miller is in charge of negotiating immigration, we're going

nowhere."

Too bad for him, things quickly blew up in his face big time as the White House just

unleashed hellfire like never before.

Come to find out, White House spokesman Hogan Gidley heard about what Graham had said and

used his own words against him in a statement.

"As long as Sen. Graham chooses to support legislation that sides with people in this

country illegally and unlawfully instead of our own American citizens, we're going nowhere.

He's been an outlier for years," Gidley said in his statement Sunday night, The Hill

reports.

President Donald Trump and Stephen Miller are fighting for what the American people

want.

At one point, even former President Barack Obama said that this is a "nation of laws"

when talking about immigration.

Why is it that every other country in this world is allowed to enforce their borders

and punish those who violate their laws — except for America?

In the end, laws are there for a reason — to protect us.

Along with ensuring that criminals can't come here and physically endanger the lives

of the American people, our borders also keep out things like drugs and ensure our jobs

aren't taken by those who aren't entitled to them.

For some reason, liberals here in America have a problem with an "America first"

policy.

Despite the fact that President Donald Trump has done so much for them already, they continue

to spit in his face.

Imagine how pathetic you must be to hate the person who is helping you prosper in life.

That's the left and everyone like Graham who seeks to help their obstructionist agenda

out of nothing more than spite.

It is important to understand others.

That includes when you are dealing with highly sensitive people such as empaths.

Empaths are the people who have a heightened sense and the ones that not only see the different

energies of the world, but actually feel and experience them.

Normal people might think that empaths ability to feel what others feel is a gift, but the

truth is, they might tell you that it's not always a good things to be able to feel

what others feel.

In fact, it's quite often not a very fun gift to possess at all, since empaths also

experience the feeling of other people pain and sorrow.

Mainly because of their gift, most people often rely their ability for support, some

of them even take the advantage of empaths.

While the empaths are able to handle the emotions of others, it also comes with a great burden

and stress for themselves.

The dark side of being an empath comes in the form of having two conflicting voices

constantly roaring at each other inside of their heads.

Constantly feeling both the good and the bad, the negative and the positive, to the point

that they feel overwhelmed.

When that time comes, here is some of things you need to know for understanding empaths

better.

#1 - Filled with negativity

Empaths are highly sensitive for both positive and negative energy.

However, most of the time, people approach empaths when they have negative energy.

They want to share bad news to empaths so that they can be motivated and energized.

This actually leaves the empaths feel helpless and weak since they absorb the negative energy

of people talking to them.

This is the dark side of empaths that many people do not know.

They have heavy burden which actually can make them suffer.

#2 - Self-negligence

Another dark side of empaths is self-negligence.

They tend to understand other people quickly and they want to help others.

This in turns gives less time for the empaths to take care themselves.

Unfortunately, it is not really good thing since the empaths will neglect their needs

of attention, kindness, and positive energy.

#3 - Fraction of love

Empaths feel things more intensely than others.

That also includes positive energy such as love.

Intense love is exhausting instead of satisfying or exciting.

That is why empaths usually tend to be more passive when it comes to love relationship.

Empaths just cannot give full love to others since it will only make them hurt.

People around them definitely need to understand this dark side of empaths to avoid misunderstanding.

Those are all some dark side of empaths that you may not think exist.

Empaths, despite of their extra care to others, are quite fragile.

oh I can't get over the smell of this cheese we're gonna skate to one song and one

found it it was on my facebook newsfeed they were like buy this buy this buy this it's so amazing look how great it is oh it's so cool

and great and I was like prove b-atches let's see if it works this is my

first time using it so I have all the pieces there's a lock and a release so

I'm gonna OH it's made my cutting board go black okay

let's take it off the cutting board lock oh that is working that is working so we

have a couple of different blades here we've got a slicer we've got a grater

and we got a small grater how does this spiralize is that even an option

I bought it for spiralizing purposes I think I've been bamboozled this is what

happens when you buy things on Facebook you have no record of where they came

from or what they're meant to do let's start with the big grater you put it in

the hole and then you take the handle and you snap it I

got this oh it's not locked anymore that's for sure there's a little Oh got

it there's a little nub here you got to alright let's try to lock this for the

fifth time we're locked okay alright I've got a valarious a valarious amount blah blah blah words are difficulte

I've got some things that should grate not spiralize I guess maybe I should rename

the show will this machine actually work

that could be applied to lots of different things we'll keep that one

okay I'm just gonna chop off the nip the nip? my carrot has a nipple now now

here's a cool thing I learned today you can go back and forth with these and I'm going back and forth

oh my gosh I'm grating so fast put it in maybe I'll go halfway safety

first now you get this fandangled pusher down

machine maybe I need to go smaller than that so we go like this

all right now *grunting* wow well fancy me fancy all right we got we got a like it we've grated

those carrots that was pretty quick and easy all right

not the worst let's try an apple I'm gonna have to definitely cut it in half

because it won't fit in there we'll make believe that this lock works

oh yeah pack man ou that's not working push harder maybe that's the answer

am I going the right way? yeah okay

I'm just juicing the Apple is what's happening yeah the Apple didn't work

no go on the Apple delicious all right let's swap this guy out let's

go for the slicer all right we get it hehe love getting it in then we're gonna

lock it down oh oh let's slice this potato oh I can get the whole thing in

alright we'll do a half a potato well I mean technically it worked but then we have

like the paperest thin potatoes I guess if you were making potato chips that you

wanted to not be circular and just kind of like interesting unique snowflake

type of potato chips this would work for that potato works alright what else can

we do here I've got a parsnip see if it'll do this guy

oh my gosh why is this so hard and difficult

oh I think I just like blew something in my stomach

ouch oh I love smell of parsnip don't forget to breathe while you're doing this again we've

got some very in not quite circular pieces of parsnip also varying

thicknesses so like 1/2 is very thick and 1/2 is very thin exactly what you

want from a perfect dice cool so this is going really well so far don't you

think? all right get out of here parsnip next up the mini grater

I would assume that this is for like hard cheese I bought some weird cheese

last time I had people over I bought it because it was lactose free and nobody

wanted it let's put it to good use in our will this machine work challenge small amount of mould

this hole is so small that's what he said haha will it great my cheese why is this so

hard to move

oh when it releases it's quite nice

okay I got a lot of cheese left on the

outside but like that worked quite quickly I think it would have taken me

longer to do with the grater oh that cheese is funky alright guys I'm gonna give this

gadget like a 2 out of 10 super annoying this lock doesn't work the thing doesn't

work it doesn't even spiralize and it's hard

AF to get this thing going buy one of these for $5 you got the big grate

the little grate and then use your knife to slice things such a waste of time and

money alright guys I hope you enjoyed this

Actor Jeon Tae Soo, the younger brother of Ha Ji Won, is reported to have passed away.

Jeon Tae Soo was only 34 years old when he died on January 21.

He was famous for his roles in Sungkyunkwan Scandal, All My Love, and It's Okay, Daddy's Girl.

According to his agency, the actor was constantly being treated for depression and was in the process of discussing his return to the acting industry recently.

The funeral will be attended by his family members and close acquaintances and will be held as quietly as possible.

No cause of death has been reported at this time.

Jeon Tae Soo was full of passion for acting and was a pure artist who had deep knowledge of various fields including fine arts.

The funeral service will be held as soon as possible with his family members and friends.

Jong Hyuns funeral was held on the morning of December 21st.

Super Junior, SNSD, members of SHINee, relatives and audience were present to see him off.

On the morning of December 21, the Jong Hyun funeral (SHINee) was held at the Funeral Home of Asan Hospital in Songpagu, Seoul.

The singer died on December 18 in an apartment in Cheongdamdong.

SHINees main singer left at the age of 27.

Police confirm this is suicide.

At the apartment where Jong Hyun was leaving, the investigating body found many burning coal gas.

He died of asphyxia and gas poisoning.

SHINee members and Super Junior members such as Eun Hyuk, Donghae, Key, Onew singer carry Jong Hyuns diary.

Jong Hyuns colleagues have canceled their jobs for the past few days, always with him on the farewell day.

Jong Hyuns sister cried when she took her picture.

Jong Hyuns funeral took place privately and privately.

It looks like fans are finally coming around to accepting Amy Roloff's relationship with

her boyfriend Chris Marek!

The Little People, Big World star took to Instagram on Saturday, Jan. 20 to share a

sweet selfie of the couple and a majority of fans expressed their opinion about Chris,

and the majority of them seem to be really happy that Amy is happy nearly two years after

her divorce from her ex-husband Matt Roloff was finalized.

"Changing it up.

Chris took the selfie.

Date night.

Thai food and seeing a local play in downtown Hillsboro.

Love it!" the 53-year-old wrote in her Instagram caption, and both she and Chris flashed big

smiles for the camera.

Fans flooded the comments section and pointed out how happy Amy looks in her new relationship,

and one fan, in particular, admitted that even though it was hard to see her move on

from Matt, they realize that Amy really found love again with Chris.

"Amy, I always wanted you to get back together with Matt, but now that I see you with Chris,

you look incredibly HAPPY.

That is what is important!!!" the fan commented.

But other fans still refuse to accept the fact that Amy and Matt just aren't meant to

be together.

"Goodness, I was really praying God would restore your marriage.

I hate this," another fan wrote.

Amy isn't the only one who has moved on from their 27-year marriage — Matt is also dating!

The 56-year-old has been with former Roloff Farms manager Caryn Chandler for nearly a

year now.

But even though Matt and Amy have moved on and are both seeing other people now, they

still make it a priority to spend time together at family events.

Earlier this week, Matt and Amy reunited to celebrate their son Jacob Roloff's 21st birthday.

How to Get Answers to Your Prayers - Duration: 5:22.

Hey it's Abbi J and today I wanted to share with you my best tips and ways

that I found that work for me when trying to receive answers to my prayers.

So many times heaven can seem a little bit distant and we just don't understand

why God isn't answering our prayers and I have found that when I follow these

four tips, that I want to share with you in this video, I receive more direct

answers to my prayers than any other way. So keep watching this videos because I

think these four tips will change your life and especially your relationship

with your Heavenly Father.

And the first tip I have for you is almost like a mindset change, which is to

understand that God is our Father and so we need to talk to him as our father. So

many times we get on our knees to pray and we say I need so much help, or would

you just help me with this thing, and I just need help with my life and I don't

know about you, I feel like I'm always just asking for help with everything, but

if we we went up to our real dads or somebody that we really you know respect

and told them you know, "Can you just help me. I just need so much help." They've

asked you a very first thing, "Well what is it that you need help with? What can I

help you with or what's bothering you?" They would ask you to get specific and

so we need to do the same with our Heavenly Father. So many times we just

kind of think well, God knows everything and he does, and he really doesn't need

us to voice it, but we need to voice it and we need to be very specific in what

we're asking our Heavenly Father because it shows Him that we've thought about

this that we really are sincere about it and that we truly recognize and need his

help with it. The second tip I have for you with

trying to receive answers to your prayers is to do your part first. This

has been life-changing for me when it comes to your needing some very solid

and very God directed, direction in my life and that is that we need to do

everything we can in our part first. When it comes to our problems or comes to

opportunities that faces that we have to make a decision and then we have to move

forward or that we just need strengthening in we have to do

everything in our power first. We have to show God that we're sincere about what

we're asking for and what we want so this might mean that you research all

your options like crazy, that you are honestly trying to live this way, or

trying to be better for the one thing that you need help in. I will never

forget praying to know which college to go to or whom I should marry.

And I had to do my part first. I had to research all these colleges. I had to

apply. I had to make up my mind first and then that's when you move on to step

number three. Which is to plan it out with God. Now just because you're doing

your part doesn't mean that God's not involved and not that you haven't talked

to him about it but you're just showing your intent first, now is the part where

you're planning to make a decision you've made up your mind and you're

checking in with your Heavenly Father to make sure that this is the right move or

you're asking Him, "Am I moving in the right direction? Is this what you want me

to do? Is this how I'm going to find more peace and strength in my life?" and that

is when the answers come and sometimes you know what we feel like maybe we

don't get an answer but we still need to move forward and that's when step number

four comes into play. Which is to go for it and go for it with faith and just

know that if it's a wrong decision God won't let you fail and He will stop you

and sometimes it takes us taking the first two steps before He just taps us

on the shoulder and says, "oh nope sorry I want you go this way." And that's okay

because we've done our research we're making educated decisions and we've

planned it out with God the whole step. So go forward with faith and have that

faith that God is right beside you and he's going to stop you from making bad

decisions and. So there you have it those are the steps that I have found have

been so extremely successful for me and finding answers to my prayers. Now that

doesn't mean that I've heard like direct voices and like the windows of heaven

have just opened up. It just means that I've had enough reassurance for my Heavenly

Father to move forward and to know that he wanted me to do that and that's all

we really are after is for God's approval on our decisions and that we

want to live a life that we can be proud of and that He can be proud of. So try

out these steps. I know that this video is a little bit different than other

ones I've done on my channel but I believe full heartedly that the only way

to truly like achieve phenomenal success, to meet your goals, and to live your life

to the absolute fullest is to put God first. When you do that

other things just fall in place and I mean you have the help of your Heavenly

Father going to achieving your ultimate life and your ultimate success and

that's all He wants for you. So I hope these tips are helpful for you. Thank you

Tyler Baltierra Posts Cryptic Tweet Days After His Wife Catelynn Returns to Rehab

So heartbreaking.

Earlier this week, Teen Mom OG star Catelynn Lowell bravely took to Twitter to reveal that

she is entering rehab again for the third time as she continues to battle her mental

health issues.

But even though her husband Tyler Baltierra has remained by her side throughout all of

the struggles that the couples have faced together in the past, it's hard to stay strong

and he opened up and hinted that he's struggling to cope with all of the stress.

"I just don't know if I can do this anymore," the 26-year-old wrote on Twitter.

Even though it's unclear what Tyler is talking about, many fans think that he's alluding

to Cate's mental health issues and they interpreted his tweet to mean that he's having trouble

in his marriage.

"I can totally understand, and Cate is so lucky to have u.

But...'through sickness and in health...'

She needs [you] now more than ever," one fan wrote, and another fan left a message of encouragement.

"You can do it, Ty!

You are strong, she is strong and you will both get through this," the user wrote.

"I know how hard it is to have someone you love so much going through something like

this...but you love her [and] love prevails.

Things will be normal again soon, hang in there!"

Other fans pointed out that Cate's third rehab stint isn't the only thing that Tyler could

be alluding to.

"Hmmm, maybe he's talking about his dad or maybe the [adoptive] parents of his [first]

born.

Maybe he's talking about the show.

Maybe it has nothing to do with his wife," the fan speculated.

Either way, we hope that Tyler can stay strong while Catelynn continues to seek help — especially

because he has been open about supporting his wife through thick and thin.

Shortly after she revealed that she would be entering rehab for the second time last

year, he took to Instagram to gush over her strength.

"Even after 12 years, I continue to be AMAZED by her strength, vulnerability, [and] courage

to get help.

'As long as I am alive, you will never be alone' — It is my call to arms [and] I will

fight this war with her right by her side, we will not surrender to this...I will go

to battle EVERY TIME for her!" he wrote at the time.
