For Honor - Nobushi, Samurai Hero Class - Beginners Tips, Combat Tutorial, Feats and Moveset - Duration: 7:33.

Hello and welcome to another for honor breakdown video, today we're gonna be looking at the

Nobushi hero Class.

The nobushi belongs to the samurai, and is officially my worst nightmare I can't win

against this class You are also able to play but not customise

the nobushi from the start, if you wish to customise it will cost steel to unlock.

Classed as a hybrid hero, it focuses on long range attacks and is able to retreat rapidly.

Time to check out the nobushi feats.

Every hero has four tiers of feats available to them, each tier has 3 abilities that can

either be passive or activated by the directional pad.

You will have to forgive if some of the icons display incorrectly, beta is beta after all.

Remember that feats unlock in tiers, once a tier is fully unlocked you move on to the

next.

The first tier of feats has 3 passives The first feat is Iron lungs, allowing you

to sprint even when you've run out of stamina, perfect for escaping.

The 2nd feat is Speed revive, allowing you to revive fallen teammates faster.

The 3rd and final feat in tier 1 is Body Count, a passive that allows you to gain health and

stamina when your hero kills AI soldiers.

The second tier of feats has 2 active and 1 passive ability

The 1st feat is arrow strike, allowing you to call down Arial strike for moderate damage

over an area.

The 2nd feat is smoke bomb, allowing you to throw a smoke bomb in an area that causes

opponents to be enable to use guard lock.

The 3rd and final feat in tier 2 is revenge attacks, this passively causes your attacks

to fill the revenge meter.

The third tier of feats has 3 active abilities.

The 1st feat is Blissful rest, whilst active this rapidly restores you to full health.

The 2nd feat is Long bow, allowing you to fire an arrow from a long bow for moderate

damage, this can be used to kill fleeing targets or low health enemies at a distance.

The 3rd and final feat in tier 3 is Sharpen blade, whilst active this causes attacks to

place a damage over time debuff on the enemy.

The 4th and final tier of feats has 3 active abilities.

The 1st feat is stalwart banner, this causes your hero to place a banner that allows nearby

allies to continuously regenerate health.

The 2nd feat is arrow storm, allowing you to call in an aerial attack that deals medium

damage in multiple small areas.

The 3rd and final feat is Fire trap, allows you to place a trap that explodes on activation

causing the area to set on fire.

Time to check out the nobushi hero specific traits.

Renown and revenge mode appear to be available to all classes.

Way of the shark causes extra damage when hitting someone effected by a bleed

Hidden stance, on startup has a dodge property, basic attacks can be cancelled into the hidden

stance and can also be followed up by attacks, kicks or dodges.

More on this in a moment.

Cancel attack recover allows attacks to be followed up by hidden stance, vipers retreat

or a kick.

Kicks can also be followed up with a hidden stance or cobra strike.

Light attack combo causes the third chained light attack to be a guaranteed hit if the

2nd attack landed.

Side slashes hits the opposite direction of the dodge and can be followed up with a hidden

stance, vipers retreat, kick or dodge.

Zone attacks can be cancelled after its first attack by pressing B

These will make more sense with the examples so lets check them out.

The nobushi it's a zoner character and focuses on keeping its distance whilst constantly

annoying attackers.

Seriously, you have no idea….

The nobushi has 3 attack chains Poke the nest, 3 light attacks in a row

Hiss and bite, a light attack followed by a heavy attack

And Death rattle, two heavy attacks in a row When surrounded press light and heavy attack

to perform a zone attack Whilst sprinting press light attack to perform

the slithering thrust, this attack inflicts a bleed

Whilst sprinting press heavy attack to perform the coiling slash

Move backwards and press light attack to maintain distance and inflict bleed

Press x after a light or heavy attack to kick When guard locked, dodge and press light attack

to perform the cobra strike, this also inflicts bleed

When guard locked, dodge to the side and press heavy attack to execute the sidewinder form

Hold down the right stick to didge and go into hidden stance, this hides your guard

direction from the opponent Dodge after blocking to maintain distance

Remember that your attacks can cause extra damage if the enemy has a bleed on them, try

keep a bleed up at all times

Using a Light attack after knocking an enemy backwards also inflicts bleed and creates

distance.

You can attack from the hidden stance mode with any second attack of a chain

Don't forget to Surprise your enemies with a kick to the face

The nobushi is unable to block during hidden stance, but can still dodge

You can cancel the startup of any basic attacks into the hidden stance mode

You can also cancel the recovery of your attacks into the hidden stance

Or if you'd prefer, you can cancel the recovery of you attacks into kicks

Additionally you can cancel the recovery of your attacks into a vipers retreat causing

a bleed and creating some distance You can also cancel into hidden stance from

kicks Or cancel from a kick into the cobra strike

We're not done yet, you can cancel the recovery of a cobra trike or vipers retreat into hidden

stances too Or cancel from cobra strikes or vipers retreats

into dodges

Or cancel into my channel for more for honor videos, see you on the battle field!

Chinese street food exploration! - Duration: 4:08.

Pokemon in China

Today we are in Guilin downtown to look for street food

However, my guide Xiaoling seems to be terribly lost.

I can find it.

Probably.

This is what we call an adventure.

I am too hot. I am half sleeping.

So, we are officially doomed. We are officially lost.

Swiss man lost in China

Get lost in China with us.

You see, it is a stewed food shop.

Mainly including many parts of the animals

Or some vegetables. But the animal parts are the parts that western people almost never eat.

The feet, the organ ( including liver, intestine)

You know, Chinese love that.

So in China, don't be surprised if they eat all the parts of the animals.

Ah, and they love it. They prefer it more than the meat.

If you have bone within your meat, it is normal.

Because the meat around the bone is considered as the best one.

Shangshui mei shi jie. It means Shangshui food street.

It is one of the most famous ones here in Guilin.

You can find all kinds of food here. But today we are not gonna eat anything.

Because it is 37℃ I suppose.

38℃?

Barbecued oysters

So barbecue is something very common in China.

Well. I have to say that they have a very good technique for barbecue.

The only..

And fried noodles

And barbecued fish.

The only Chinese words you have to learn to say is——not too spicy.

How do you say 'not too spicy'?

Bu yao la.

Bu yao la.

I am sorry. We are surrounded. We have to walk faster.

We have to walk faster, because there are people attacking us with pubilicity.

Or telling us 'please sit here, sit here.' or 'come here, come here'.

So we really have to give the impression that we absolutely don't care.

This is a place as hot as oven,

And it has as much as yummy food as you can imagine.

Oh, BTW, if you have the impression to be too big

It is probably true. You are too big for this kind of place.

Ah, they have Thailand dessert.

They have seafood.

They have steaks.

Uhmm.

They have beer fish.

Uhmm.

They have spaghetti too.

Uhmm.

piggy feet.

Yes.

I have to say that if you are hungry

It is impossible to cross this street without stopping.

Because it really really smells good.

Super popular in China.

In other countries, they are considered as the invasive species.

That they have to kill and control the number.

But in China, if you don't raise them up

There is not enough amount of them.

extinguished.

So, we eat too much.

Chinese people like to eat.

And of course, they can make disappear even other species.

Yeah.

Ahhhhhh.

Ah, juice coming out.

AHHHH

It is supper yummy but spicy.

Between the Lines

Don't get your hopes up, it is not going to work.

I tried to kill you, too.

Shut up!

When I get out of these chains ...

... I'm going to rip out your oil-eyes and stuff them into your butt!

I would like to help you with that, go ahead and try!

Come on, you stupid son of a bitch!

What the heck!

And I was really hoping this is a dream.

No, it's a nightmare.

It takes a little more than a piece of low life like you to be my nightmare.

Keep dreaming, You Christian bastard!

You are...

... dead.

I...

... killed you.

You and your people, you destroyed everything.

You had it coming.

Damn it!

There's someone here!

You are paranoid.

Don't you feel it, too?!

Maybe I really am paranoid...

... and you only exist in my head?!

No, don't worry.

If I was in your head, I would have puked into it until it exploded.

Allah...

... what is happening to me?

Have I gone this mad already?

Please do me a favour ...

What?!

Please beat harder. Just pretend as if it was my head.

If it was your head, I would cut it off.

Sure!

Stop laughing!

What are you doing in my country?

You are just strolling in here bringing dispute.

It was there before we came.

Yes, but it's our war, not yours!

It is our problem!

You're saying that!

And what are the others in your country saying?

Those thinking differently?

Then they have to clear that with us...

Not with you!

Throwing bombs on civilians.

You killed civilians, too.

You're especially targeting civilians!

Dead is dead.

Whether they wear a uniform or not.

These people couldn't defend themselves.

Maybe there were people sharing your view.

But these victims are taken in account, right?

Allah will reward them.

Why don't you ask them, if they feel like being rewarded by Allah!

They were non-believers, anyway.

What do you know about what these people belive in?!

We believe in an allmighty God!

In a kindhearted God!

And what do you think, what kind of God we believe in?

Who could be interested in locking us up?

... keeping us here. They are not my people.

Not mine ether.

Why should they keep me here? I have done a lot for my country.

That I believe.

I don't care what you believe.

That I belive, too.

You're such a stupid idiot.

That I don't believe.

I hate to have to breathe the same air like you in this room.

So hold your breath. We'll see what happenes.

My wife ...

You have a wife?

I do ...

... and two children.

And for how many camels did you trade her?

All the camels in the universe wouldn't be enough.

You must really like her?

I love her!

She is a wonderful woman.

God bless every step she takes on this earth.

Well, let s hope she felt the same way about you when you took her in.

I didn't take her.

We found each other.

She gave me two wonderful children.

She loves me.

And you?

>From which street-walk did you pick her?

Just shut you dirty hole and sit in your corner!

Must be one sad marriage if you don't even want to talk about it.

Shut up!

Are you gay?

Yes!

Do I make you feel strange?

Would you like to touch me?

Yes, I would love to ...

... break your neck!

Do you have any siblings?

Are your parents still alive?

What is it that you are not getting?

Ok... one thing I get, we are not getting out of here.

II would really love to punch you in the face, but I can t.

You are one flashbulb.

They're watching us.

It appears not to see how we are battering our skulls.

We can't touch anyway.

They want us to talk.

... to get closer ...

... to become friends ...

Not on their nelly!

Do you have any siblings?

Why would I tell you? You didn't tell me either.

You just got that out of me like that, haven t you?

It was easy.

Yes, you are masters in getting something out of people.

I bet you have great techniques.

Maybe I have to beat the people in order to torture them, but you have it a lot easier

You only have to be in the same room.

You have verbal diarrhoea.

Keeping silence doesn't make it better.

One!

What?

What one?

Are you learning to count?

I have one child.

He was born just before the war.

My wife, I met her at the university.

She's smart.

She is the most beautiful woman on earth.

Interesting, so is mine.

After she had graduated we got married.

We built a nice little house.

We have a Café where we play rock music.

Behind the house there is a small garden.

Sometimes she grows vegetables there.

Her tomatoes are the best on earth.

Are your brothers at war, too?

They are active.

Active, killing my people?!

If they're still alive, for sure.

And we are sitting around, unable to do anything.

That felt good. I'm exhausted.

So am I, man.

I'm fucked up.

I am done, I couldn t even punch you in the face...

... if you know what I mean.

You like "smole on the water"... I really wonder.

Oh, really?

I'm even more surprised that you know it at all.

You're such an idiot.

We have CDs, too.

... and radios.

Yeah...

And shops which sell them.

Yeah... it's OK.

We have computers, too.

Yeah... it's OK!!!

And software for downloading.

I get it!

You thought I didn't know the song, are you kidding me?

Why are there no Muslims on Star Trek?

Why?

For the movie takes place in the future.

A good friend of mine sat down next to me to tell me this Joke.

That s how it went:

What is the difference between Casanova and Jesus?

When he wanted to tell me the payoff of the joke...

... blood shot out of his head.

Some idiot of yours put a bullet in his head.

... I really wanted to know the punchline ...

... but it kinda poured out of his head ...

... poured in my lap ...

... on my feet ...

... on the floor.

One really shouldn t make jokes about prophets.

I believe God has more humor than we do.

Really?

You think God was laughing about that?

You know nothing.

You know nothing.

You think you know how many have perished in my lap?

In my lap, someone laid with a hole in the head ...

... one with a hole in the chest ...

... and another one with a hole in the belly ...

... even someone with a hole in the butt!

With a hole in his butt?

There were so many holes in his butt

You couldn't tell what hole his crap came out!

Why are you laughing?

Why are you laughing you stupid jerk?

Stop laughing! Do you think that's funny?

Is a dead Christian funnier than a dead Muslim?

Sorry, I was just imagining him, crapping out of all holes!

You Idiot!

Why don't you imagine your stupid friend...

.. crapping out of the hole in his head!

You said it yourself, your God thinks that's funny.

Fuck you.

Ohh..Fuck you.

The facial expression.

What are you talking about?

The facial expression.

What's the difference between Casanova and Jesus?

I know the punch line.

What's the difference between Casanova and Jesus?

His facial expression.

His facial expression!

Oh Lord, please forgive me!

You shouldn't make fun about a prophet, I know, but...

God and the whole world know it wasn't ment in a spiteful way.

But still, it's a sin.

I wonder whether it's a bigger sin ...

... to shoot holes in our heads and butts in the name of God...

... or, to joke in His name.

Good point.

Who do you think put us in here?

Maybe aliens?

Yes, maybe...

Maybe you're right?

Yes, maybe it really were aliens.

Think about it, your people didn't and neither did mine!

They would never lock us in here!

They know we would savage each other.

I told you, somebody is watching us.

Not that again.

Maybe they erased our memory?

You're really starting to grow on me.

Are you hungry?

No, and you?

No!

But we've been in here for some time, probably even days.

Yes, I don't even have to go to the toilet.

I'm worried about that, too.

Where are we?

Wait... wait...

Don't move!

I'm dead!

Oh my God, I'm dead!

I'm not alive anymore, what am I going to do now?

What the heck are you talking about?

What the heck I'm talking about? What I'm talking about?

I'm dead, man! Do you understand? DEAD!!!

What do you mean by dead? I can see you right in front of me!

That's the exact problem, man! You can see me!

I don't get it.

Of course you don't get it, how would you?

Do you know who killed me? Do you want to know who killed me?

It was you, you damn creep! You!

Who? Me?! I don't even know you!

You're mad!

You camel-fucker, you killed me!

I'm in this damn place because of you!

Shitt! Shitt! Shitt!

You're right, you're talking nonsense!

Shut up! Shut the damn up!

Let me out of here! Let me out! Let me out of here!

Why?

Tell me why!

What makes you think, you're dead?

I saw it.

I saw everything.

Everything, I saw everything.

What did you see?

Everything.

I was praying in the forest.

And you shot me.

I shot you?

Yes man, yes!

My darlings, my sweethearts.

I love you so much.

But I will never see you again.

And it's all your fault!

Stop it! Stop saying you're dead!

If you're dead, what about me?

Then what am I doing in this damn hole?

I don't care. I don't give nothing about you!

So I am dead, too?

Allah!

I am dead!

Of course...

... who else would keep us here?

God, my family...

Damned...

But...

.. who killed me?

How did they kill me?

You didn't deserve any better.

Trash like yourself ought to be shot!

I will never see my family again! And it's you fault!

And what about mine?!

So, we're dead.

What are we going to do now?

I don't know, man.

It's my first time being dead, too.

Maybe we should just wait and see what happens.

I have always believed in you...

... prayed to you ...

... carried you with me.

So?

Where is you Jesus now?

Same place as your Allah!

One question is clear now.

Which one?

Wether there is an afterlife.

Yes, and what kind of life it is?

Can you call this a life?

Probably we didn't deserve any better.

Probably not.

But I'm glad ...

... I'm not here alone.

I regret... having killed people in Your name.

I regret... having destroyed families.

So do I.

I regret having spread fear and terror.

So do I!

t was me!

Oh, no!

Oh, no!

What's wrong?

Are you OK?

Mommy, mommy!

Mommy is coming!

I Applauded Myself For Doing Small Tasks That Most People Take For Granted - Duration: 1:52.

I think if somebody knows someone who's depressed, first and foremost,

don't ever, ever say, "You don't need meds. Meds won't help you." Because I've

had people say to me, "Oh, whatever you do, don't get on that medication.

That's going to mess you up way worse." Don't ever tell somebody

that. If somebody is doing better, don't say, "You don't need it

anymore," because the reason you are doing better is you're taking it.

If somebody has anxiety, it's something you can't understand unless you have it.

So try not to be dismissive with that person and just be like,

"Oh, calm down," or, "It's okay." That's not it. Basically having my good friend

who would say to me, "Everything is going to be okay," and just keep repeating it to

me until I come down a little bit would help. But definitely talking to people

that have had anxiety and depression helps.

And just, for me, it would be like things that might not be even thought of.

Like, normally I'm somebody who would love a good horror movie or something

like that. And I'm like, "Oh my God." In that state of mind, if I watch that,

I'll just freak out and it would not be good. So happy music, happy movie with a

happy ending, Disney, you know, keeping it on something more like that instead

of even aggressive music because that can, for me, it all affects me

and makes me spiral down worse. And even, this is going

to sound kind of silly maybe, but applauding yourself for,

like, the littlest things like, "I did a load of laundry," or, you know, like,

"I didn't want to brush my hair today, and I put it up, and it looked good."

Like, you have to take those little things that people take for granted and just give

kudos to yourself, because maybe the day before or the next day you're not going to

do that. You just have to take the time to say, "I did something even if it's small."

Thai Green Curry Chicken Recipe - AUTHENTIC Thai Home Cooking | แกงเขียวหวานไก่แบบบ้านๆ - Duration: 19:50.

- In this video I'm gonna share with you

a Thai green curry recipe.

We've got all the ingredients to pound up the paste.

And got a free range chicken, my mother-in-law

is actually gonna do the cooking.

And I'm gonna do the pounding.

Stay tuned for an authentic Thai family green curry recipe.

(upbeat music)

Hey everyone it's Mark Wiens.

I'm in Bangkok, Thailand.

And today my mother-in-law and I are gonna be making

Thai green curry with chicken.

The first step in making this recipe is to pound up

the curry paste.

And so we got all the ingredients laying out here.

I think it's mainly gonna be these Thai green chilies

that we're gonna use to make it green.

And then we're also gonna use a lot of spices.

My mother-in-law doesn't write down any recipes

but somehow she just knows all of the ingredients

and the amounts in her head.

And by taste testing.

So I'm actually, we're gonna watch her and then

I'm gonna write down all the ingredients

and I'll include them in this recipe.

And then also I will write them over on Eatingthaifood.com.

You can find the full recipe and all the details

and all the ingredients there as well.

For this recipe, we're gonna be making a full chicken

and it's not a huge chicken.

It's a free range chicken, she said it was 1.4 kilos.

The first step is just to prepare

all of the ingredients to pound.

So the first step is to peel your garlic.

Next up for shallots and the same thing.

She's just gonna peel the shallots,

kinda like garlic actually.

Just get that skin off.

Next step is Galangal.

That's about a thumb sized chunk.

And she's just chopping this up in order to pound it

so it's easier to pound.

And it's young Galangal.

And next up lemongrass and these are only the bottoms

of the stalks of the lemongrass

and then again she's just slicing it finely

to be able to pound it.

And then next up this is a Kaffir lime

And we're not gonna be using the juice of the lime

but only the peel.

And that's going to provide so much citrus flavor

in the curry paste. (upbeat music)

And next up these are cilantro roots. (upbeat music)

I can already really smell that Kaffir lime peel.

It's so fragrant.

All of the pre-preparation is done,

we got all the ingredients ready.

It's now time to start pounding.

You can kind of just throw everything,

we're gonna eventually be putting everything

and pounding it altogether.

But she's first putting in the Galangal.

And then lemongrass.

And one thing I want to mention, this is coriander seeds

and cumin, which she just toasted and dry roasted in a pan

just to make it fragrant just for about 30 seconds

over a medium heat and dry roasted it.

Make it extra fragrant and that's gonna go

into the curry paste as well.

It actually doesn't work so well to pound on a surface

that bounces like a table so it's actually best

to take the mortar down to the ground

and pound on the ground.

Now in goes the cilantro roots. (upbeat music)

And the lime peel.

This is white peppercorns, all go in.

And also the cumin and coriander seeds.

I got the okay to just toss in everything

so next the garlic and the shallots.

We're gonna pound all of these ingredients first

and then after that we'll be adding the green chilies.

Okay, in goes some salt.

I'm gonna start pounding up everything.

This is gonna, it's gonna take awhile

but I'm gonna tell you that it is so worth it

to make your own curry paste.

You could buy green curry paste at the store

that's already pre-pounded and oftentimes in Thailand

actually we go to the market and buy green curry paste

that's already pre-made.

But when you make it yourself

and you control the ingredients and the flavor

and the freshness, it's absolutely incredible.

And one more thing I'd like to mention is that

you can make a big batch of green curry paste

and you can store it in the fridge or the freezer

and then you can use it in small amounts

when you make green curry.

So feel free to pound up

a whole big batch of green curry paste

and keep on eating it.

Also if you don't already have a stone mortar and pestle,

you should invest in one because you need it

for almost every Thai recipe.

It's one of the ultimate tools of Thai cooking.

I've just been pounding for about five minutes

and already you can see how the oils of the lemongrass,

the shallots, the garlic and the Kaffir lime peel,

all of the oils are coming out,

it's already smelling incredibly fragrant.

It's gonna be delicious.

My mouth is already watering for the final product.

Next up we're gonna add the chilies

and these are Thai Bird's Eye chilies

but they are green in color so if you can get green in color

that's what's gonna give your green curry the green color.

One more detail she just mentioned is that

green chilies aren't that spicy so she's gonna add in

a few red chilies as well because the red chilies

are a little more spicy but mainly

Thai green chilies for this.

So in go all of the chilies and I'm gonna probably

just add one handful first.

Pound them up a bit.

So they don't go flying and then add some more.

But we'll be using all of those chilies.

Alright I can add in another handful. (upbeat music)

At this point you're gonna just keep on pounding

and pounding so I have a cup of coffee.

You might wanna grab some coffee like me.

And then keep on pounding.

And you can really see the green color coming out

of the chilies, still have a whole lot more pounding to do

but it's coming along nicely.

This is definitely the most time consuming part

of this entire Thai green curry recipe.

So once we have this, it will be relatively

not too difficult and pretty fast

to put everything together.

But I understand that you are very busy and so

if you have the time to pound it by hand like this,

the green curry paste, that's the best case scenario

because you'll get all the oils that will come out

of the ingredients.

It will taste the best.

But I understand if you don't have the time,

still better than buying store bought curry paste

in a can or something.

You can take the same ingredients and you can process them.

Food process them, blend them up maybe with a little bit

of water to get them going.

And then that will be the second best case scenario,

that will save a lot of time.

But if you have the time and the energy, pound and plus.

You don't need to go, this is better than going to the gym.

You can get your workout in and have something delicious

to eat at the end.

I just got the approval.

The curry paste is good to go, the next step,

we got a nice puree, the next step is to add,

the final step is to add the shrimp paste.

Kinda smoosh it all together with that shrimp paste.

It should be a nice puree paste.

I love that sound at the end of making your curry paste.

It's kind of like a squishy sound. (laughs)

For this Thai green curry chicken recipe,

you can definitely buy chicken pieces or chicken thighs

or chicken breasts or whatever type of chicken you want.

But we're gonna be using a whole chicken

and it's a free range chicken so our next step

is to wash and clean the chicken.

(upbeat music)

She first chopped off the feet and the head of the chicken.

And now she chopped it in half and gonna clean it up.

Also it is good with all the organs

so you can include the organs in your curry as well.

Rather than cutting up the chicken into like thigh

and drumsticks pieces, the Thai style

for lots of chicken curry dishes and soups in Thailand

is to chop up the entire chicken into bite sized pieces.

(upbeat music)

(laughs)

I definitely just got splattered by some chicken juice.

The chicken is clean and I have just set up

the street food cart.

We're gonna assemble all of the entire green curry

with the coconut milk and the curry paste.

So the first thing she's doing. (speaking foreign language)

She's just putting a pot on the stove first.

The street food stove.

(speaking foreign language)

I'll write all the ingredients

but that's about a half a liter or so, maybe two cups.

So first she's gonna boil that water.

And then she said she's gonna put in the curry paste,

the chicken and boil that for a while while stirring.

(speaking foreign language) (laughs)

Mom said the curry paste smells really good.

(speaking foreign language)

(laughs)

She said it smells really good, the curry paste.

So you put that curry paste.

She'll use use most of what we pounded into the water

and dissolve that in the water first.

(speaking foreign language)

That green curry paste is boiling away

and it smells incredible.

Okay.

And now she's adding in all the chicken pieces.

(upbeat music)

It smells citrusy and you can also really smell

those green chilies.

That is called green curry steam on the lens.

And she's moving over to the chopping board now

to slice up some Kaffir lime leaves.

And toss those Kaffir lime leaves in there

to brew as well.

That's gonna add more fragrance to your green curry.

In addition to the chicken, it's common to add

a certain type of vegetable to your green curry.

And sometimes you can use like winter melon

or you can use an assortment of different kind

of tubular vegetables.

We're gonna be using Thai eggplant

which is a traditional additive to green curry as well

and then also she's gonna add in some sweet basil

right there too.

Take the sweet basil and take it off of the stems.

(speaking foreign language)

I think in English they are Spur chilies.

These chilies are not spicy but they're sort of

more for looks to add some red to your green curry.

And then next step is for the Thai eggplant.

She's cutting them into quarters.

She's dropping the eggplant into the water

so that they don't turn black.

Oh, I wish you could smell that steam.

- [Mark] It's been simmering for about 10 minutes or so,

she said the chicken is soft now.

And we're gonna assemble everything.

Micah has come to take a whiff, take a smell

of that green curry.

Hello Micah! (speaking foreign language)

He just woke up from a nap.

Micah I'm not gonna touch you because my hands

probably have some curry paste still on them.

And some chilies.

But I love you little boy.

I love you little boy.

- I love you too Dad.

- [Mark] And you can see a lot of the water has,

a lot of the liquid has evaporated

so we've got a nice looking, like thick curry paste

down below there.

Now in go the eggplant first.

(speaking foreign language)

- [Mark] And give that a nice stir.

You can see how almost all the water has boiled out.

Next up for the coconut cream.

And yeah that's the coconut cream, the thick, buttery,

rich, good stuff.

Oh and you can just see how creamy that is.

That's full of delicious fat.

And she's adding about a spoonful of salt.

But it's important, you wanna taste test

the curry because there's a lot of salt

and also the shrimp paste in the curry paste

that we pounded, so you wanna actually taste

that liquid first before you add any salt.

And then you can add salt to your taste.

- [Mark] Okay we're gonna bring this to a boil

and since the chicken is already cooked,

we're just gonna make sure that the eggplant is cooked.

So it doesn't really need to boil for very long.

And then the final step once the curry has come to a boil,

the coconut milk has come to a boil,

you add in the sweet basil.

Give it kind of a little stir and then she added in

the sliced red Spur chilies that she chopped up earlier.

And then you don't really wanna boil it too much longer

because you don't want the sweet basil to lose its flavor

so you just boil for another minute or so.

And we are just about ready to eat.

(speaking foreign language)

Okay the green curry recipe is done and Uni is gonna

dish out a bowl now.

At this point, so you have a whole pot of curry,

you can dish it into a bowl, you can save some for later.

But you should start a pot of rice, about well,

when you start to make the curry,

maybe after you pound the curry paste.

Before you start to assemble the curry

so that you have fresh rice as soon as the curry is ready.

I'm sitting down to immediately eat some of the

Thai green curry chicken.

You gotta come, come just take a really close up look

at this green curry.

Just look at how thick that is.

From both the coconut cream as well as the curry paste.

In Thai you call that kam kom wap.

Meaning it's very thick and rich. (laughs)

Yes, so I've also got a plate of rice.

This is brown rice.

I'm gonna go in.

Chicken, bite sized pieces of chicken.

Basil, put some of this onto my rice.

Put this on there, get some of that basil as well.

Oh yes. (laughs)

Oh you can smell that green, like sweet green,

sweet basil aroma to this as well.

Alright.

And so you do have to be careful of bones

due to our using of a whole chicken like that.

But I love the free range chicken and the texture.

Oh that chili as well.

That is the way you want green curry to taste.

Oh it's so good.

It has such a like, well you can taste all of those herbs

and spices that we pounded up in the curry paste.

Every one of them.

You can taste that little bit of citrusiness

from the Kaffir lime peel.

And also the leaves.

You can taste those green chilies, the lemongrass.

A hint of the cumin in there.

And then with the sweet basil, the richness

of that coconut cream.

Oh it's so good.

It's so flavorful and one thing I want to point out is that

Gaeng Khiao Wan, Thai green curry chicken is quite a popular

street food dish in Bangkok or throughout Thailand.

But due to cost limitations as well

but they often reduce the creaminess of the coconut milk

and add more water and they also tend to use

less curry paste to reduce cost.

So that's not a bad thing.

But oftentimes, green curry, if you eat green curry

on the streets of Thailand, it's kind of sweet

and bland actually and it's not very good.

So I think the best way to have green curry

is to actually make it yourself.

So I hope that you have enjoyed this Thai green curry recipe

and I hope that you'll try it out from scratch

using all the ingredients you get.

I wanna say a big thank you to my mother-in-law, May

for showing us all how to make Gaeng Khiao Wan.

And it's delicious, I'm gonna finish off the food here

and again all of the ingredients and the steps

will be over on Eatingthaifood.com, check that out.

Thank you very much for watching this recipe

and let me know if you try it out and how it goes.

I would love to hear from you.

THE TOPIC:

"WHERE IS GOD WHEN LIFE HURTS?"

JOIN US FOR

THIS SPECIAL EDITION

OF THE JOHN ANKERBERG SHOW.

>>JOHN ANKERBERG: WELCOME TO

OUR PROGRAM,

I'M JOHN ANKERBERG,

THANKS FOR JOINING ME.

AS YOU'VE JUST HEARD,

WE'VE GOT TWO GREAT

GUESTS, JONI EARECKSON TADA,

DR. MICHAEL EASLEY. AND WE'RE

GOING TO START OFF WITH

THE FACT THAT, YOU KNOW,

LIFE'S FULL OF SURPRISES.

WE HAVE A GREAT FRIEND,

A PASTOR, THAT WENT TO

THE COVE, A CONFERENCE,

AND HE WAS SPEAKING.

HAD A GREAT SERMON,

WENT TO BED,

KISSED HIS WIFE GOODNIGHT,

SAID, "I LOVE YOU, HONEY,"

AND IN THE MORNING SHE WOKE UP

AND HE WAS DEAD. SURPRISES.

MY OWN MOTHER TOOK CARE OF

HER BEST FRIEND FOR TWO YEARS

WHO HAD ALS. WHEN SHE BURIED

HER, AFTER THE TWO YEARS

OF WATCHING HER GO THROUGH

ALL THE PAIN AND SUFFERING,

SHE WENT IN, MY MOM WENT IN

FOR A CHECKUP FOR HERSELF,

AND THE DOCTOR SAYS,

"YOU HAVE THE BEGINNING

OF ALS."

AND MY MOTHER SUDDENLY ALL

OF A HAD, ALL OF A SUDDEN HAD

A CLEAR IDEA OF WHAT THE NEXT

TWO YEARS WERE GOING TO BE

LIKE FOR HER. SURPRISES.

MANY OF YOU HAVE HEARD A DOCTOR

SAY, YOU KNOW, "TODAY I HAVEN'T

GOT SUCH GOOD NEWS FOR YOU,"

THEN THEY'VE TOLD YOU SOMETHING

ABOUT WHAT IT IS THAT YOU HAVE.

AND YOU'RE LIVING WITH

A SURPRISE AND YOU DON'T KNOW

WHAT TO DO. MAYBE YOU LOST

A CHILD OR YOUR HUSBAND LEFT

YOU AND THERE'S EMOTIONAL PAIN

AND SUFFERING.

MY TWO GUESTS TODAY ARE ALSO

SUFFERING RIGHT NOW EVEN WHILE

WE'VE GOT THEM ON THE SET:

JONI EARECKSON TADA FROM

QUADRIPLEGIA THAT HAPPENED

WHEN SHE WAS 17 YEARS OLD.

SHE'S BEEN IN THAT WHEELCHAIR

EVER SINCE. AND SHE'S GOT

MORE PAIN THAT KEEPS ON COMING

EVERY DAY. AND YET THE SMILE

THAT'S ON HER FACE JUST KNOCKS

US ALL DEAD.

MICHAEL EASLEY WAS

THE PRESIDENT OF MOODY BIBLE

INSTITUTE, ONE OF THE BEST

CONFERENCE SPEAKERS IN

OUR COUNTRY, AND SUDDENLY

STARTED HAVING BACK PAINS.

AND HE'S GOING TO TELL US ABOUT

THAT-AND IT TOOK AWAY

HIS ABILITY TO BE PRESIDENT

OF THAT INSTITUTION.

AND, MICHAEL, I'D LIKE TO START

WITH YOU, BECAUSE YOU HAD

A GREAT QUOTE THAT WENT

SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO WHEN ALL

THE PROPS ARE KNOCKED OUT?

YOUR HUSBAND CAN'T HELP YOU,

YOUR WIFE CAN'T HELP YOU,

YOUR BEST FRIEND

CAN'T HELP YOU,

THE DOCTORS CAN'T HELP YOU,

THE ATTORNEYS CAN'T HELP YOU,

AND THE CHURCH DOESN'T

HELP YOU. WHERE IN THE WORLD

DO YOU TURN?

>>DR. MICHAEL EASLEY: WELL,

JOHN, MY PAIN STARTED IN 2000

WITH SOME MINOR THINGS AND

IT PROGRESSED. IT'S CALLED

"DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE."

AND IT'S SORT OF A CATCH-22

DIAGNOSIS FOR PROBLEMS

IN THE SPINE. AND THE TIME

YOU WERE REFERRING TO,

WHEN YOU HAVE A CABINET

FULL OF MEDICATIONS,

YOU'RE TAKING THE MAX OF

ALL THESE MEDS, YOU'RE DIZZY,

YOU'RE BLEARY, BUT YOU'RE

STILL IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN.

AND I'LL NEVER FORGET SITTING

IN OUR LITTLE HOUSE IN NORTHERN

VIRGINIA. I HAD TEARS RUNNING

OFF MY JAW, IN SO MUCH PAIN,

INTRACTABLE. AND I LOOKED

AT CINDY AND SAID,

"I UNDERSTAND NOW WHY PEOPLE

WOULD TAKE THEIR LIVES."

I WANTED TO JUMP OFF A BRIDGE.

NOW, I NEVER WOULD,

BUT IT TRULY CROSSED MY MIND.

I GOT IT. AND WHEN YOU GET TO

THOSE VERY DARK PLACES WHERE

A FRIEND OF JONI'S AND MINE

SAYS YOU HAVE THREE THINGS

IN A DARK TUNNEL:

ME, GOD, AND PAIN.

AND WHEN THE PROPS ARE KNOCKED

OUT, YOUR FAITH EITHER BECOMES

REAL, OR I,

I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU TURN.

>>ANKERBERG: YEAH.

AND YOU SAID THAT YOU NEVER

ASKED GOD TO EXPLAIN IT TO YOU,

YOU JUST SAID, "HOW AM I TO

LIVE WITH THIS CONSTANT PAIN?"

WHAT ANSWERS DID YOU GET?

>>EASLEY: YOU KNOW, I NEVER

ASKED WHY, AND I STILL HAVEN'T

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.

I, I, I DESERVE HELL.

I, I DESERVE HIS CONDEMNATION;

I KNOW THAT FROM THE LITTLE

BIT I KNOW OF SCRIPTURE.

BUT FOR ME IT WAS, "OKAY, LORD,

IF THIS IS MY NEW LOT IN LIFE,

HOW DO I LIVE THIS WAY?

HOW DO, HOW AM I NOT BITTER

TO PEOPLE AROUND ME?

HOW DO I NOT BLAME OTHERS?

HOW AM I KIND AND CIVIL?

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO BE

THE KIND OF PERSON YOU WANT ME

TO BE? AND HEBREWS CHAPTER 4

WAS A CHAPTER THAT

REALLY OPENED UP FOR ME.

>>ANKERBERG: YEAH.

LET ME READ IT FOR YOU,

THEN I WANT YOU TO UNPACK THIS,

OKAY? YOU SAID THIS IS ONE OF

YOUR FAVORITE VERSES THAT GOD

BROUGHT YOU TO. HEBREWS 4:14,

"THEREFORE, SINCE WE HAVE

A GREAT HIGH PRIEST, WHO HAS

GONE THROUGH THE HEAVENS,

JESUS THE SON OF GOD, LET US

HOLD FIRMLY TO THE FAITH

WE PROFESS. FOR WE DO NOT HAVE

A HIGH PRIEST WHO IS UNABLE TO

SYMPATHIZE WITH OUR WEAKNESSES,

BUT WE HAVE ONE WHO HAS BEEN

TEMPTED IN EVERY WAY JUST AS

WE ARE, YET WAS WITHOUT SIN.

THEN LET US APPROACH THE THRONE

OF GRACE WITH CONFIDENCE

SO THAT WE MAY RECEIVE A COUPLE

OF THINGS, MERCY AND FIND GRACE

TO HELP US IN OUR TIME

OF NEED." UNPACK THAT FOR US.

>>EASLEY: FIRST OF ALL,

THE HIGH PRIEST IS

OUR INTERCESSOR. AND NO MATTER

WHAT OUR RELIGIOUS BACKGROUND,

WHETHER WE GREW UP IN A CULTURE

THAT DID OR DIDN'T TEACH US

ABOUT GOD, THERE'S SOMETHING

INTRINSIC IN OUR HEART THAT

WE, WE WANT TO TALK TO

"THE BIG GUY." WE WANT TO KNOW WE CAN

GET TO HIM. AND THIS PASSAGE

IN HEBREWS EXPLAINS CLEARLY

THAT WE DON'T NEED

ANY INTERMEDIATOR;

WE HAVE THE HIGH PRIEST.

NOW, WE KNOW THAT

HE'S THE GOD-MAN, FULLY GOD,

FULLY MAN. THAT'S A BIG IDEA.

BUT THE CONCEPT IS THAT

HE COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDS

WHERE I'VE COME FROM, WHO

I AM, BECAUSE HE HIMSELF HAS

EXPERIENCED THOSE SAME KIND OF

THINGS. SO HERE'S SOMEONE THAT

KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT WE'VE GONE

THROUGH IN WAYS WE CAN'T EVEN

MEASURE. SO, FIRST, THE GREAT

HIGH PRIEST; SECOND, TO HOLD

FAST TO OUR CONFESSION,

TO OUR BELIEF THAT,

WHAT DID I BELIEVE WHEN

I TRUSTED IN CHRIST AND CHRIST

ALONE? THAT HE LIVED,

THAT HE DIED, HE WAS BURIED,

HE CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD.

AND ANY AND ALL WHO TRUST

IN CHRIST AND CHRIST ALONE ARE

PROMISED A FREE GIFT OF ETERNAL

LIFE. THAT'S THE BENCHMARK,

THAT'S THE BEDROCK.

SO NO MATTER WHAT MY EXPERIENCE

TRIES TO TELL ME, I WANT TO GO

BACK TO, WHAT DID I BELIEVE?

WHAT DOES SCRIPTURE TELL ME

ABOUT THIS JESUS?

HE'S MY INTERMEDIARY TO GOD;

HE HAS SYMPATHIZED WITH ME

COMPLETELY; I CAN TURN TO HIM.

AND THE TWO OUTCOMES,

GRACE AND MERCY,

ARE INTERESTING CONCEPTS.

GRACE IS UNDESERVED FAVOR

IN THE FACE OF DESERVED WRATH.

NONE OF US IS BETTER THAN

THE OTHER ONE, WE ALL DESERVE

WRATH. WE, WE MAY THINK WE ARE

A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN

SOME OTHERS, BUT WE'RE NOT.

AND SO GRACE IS UNDESERVED

FAVOR, WE, WE DON'T EVER MERIT

IT, WE CAN'T EARN IT, WE CAN'T

BE BETTER THAN SOMEONE ELSE.

AND MERCY IS, IS JUSTICE

WITHHELD, JUSTICE SUSPENDED.

SO A POLICE OFFICER PULLS

YOU OR ME OVER-YOU MORE LIKELY

THAN ME-PULLS YOU OVER, SAYS,

"JOHN, YOU WERE SPEEDING."

AND YOU SAY, "OKAY, I WAS."

AND HE SAYS, "I'M GOING TO LET

YOU OFF THIS TIME."

LAW WOULD GIVE YOU A TICKET AND

A PUNISHMENT AND A PENALTY OF

SOME KIND, BUT MERCY WOULD

SUSPEND THE JUSTICE, "I'M NOT

GOING TO PENALIZE YOU NOW."

AND THE AUTHOR OF HEBREWS

IS SAYING WE DRAW NEAR TO HIM

BECAUSE HE EMPATHIZES,

HE KNOWS, AND HE'LL GIVE US

THAT GRACE AND SUSPENDED

JUSTICE IN TIME OF NEED.

AND THAT PACKAGE,

IT'S A LOT; THAT PACKAGE

HELPED ME A LOT, JOHN,

IN TRYING TO PIECE TOGETHER:

I DRAW NEAR TO HIM;

HE UNDERSTANDS COMPLETELY;

THERE'S NOTHING I'VE GONE

THROUGH THAT HE CAN'T

COMPLETELY COMPREHEND.

HE KNOWS. AND FROM THERE

I APPEAL FOR THAT GRACE

AND MERCY.

>>ANKERBERG: YEAH.

EXPLAIN A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT

THIS: HE SYMPATHIZES WITH US,

HE EMPATHIZES WITH US,

AND UNPACK THAT JUST

A LITTLE BIT MORE.

>>EASLEY: YEAH, THE GREEK

WORDS, SYMPATHY AND EMPATHY

WE GUM UP IN ENGLISH A LITTLE

BIT. BUT IT'S REALLY "FEELING

ALONG WITH;" THAT HE KNOWS

COMPLETELY... THE GRIEF THAT

HE BORE IS SO MUCH MORE

EXPONENTIAL THAN YOU OR I.

BUT THERE'S A SENSE IN WHICH

ANY PAIN, ANY DISAPPOINTMENT,

ANY HEARTBREAK THAT A HUMAN

EXPERIENCES, HE KNOWS THIS

ALREADY. IT'S NOT NEW TO HIM,

"OH, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT PEOPLE,

HUMAN BEINGS, COULD SUFFER

THAT WAY." AND IT'S IMPOSSIBLE

FOR US AS HUMANS

TO GRAPPLE WITH WHAT

CHRIST ENDURED ON CALVARY WHEN

THE WRATH OF GOD POURED OUT

FROM HEAVEN ON HIS ONLY SON AND

HE ACTUALLY TURNS HIMSELF AWAY.

AND WE HAVE THE WORDS RECORDED

WHERE CHRIST SAID, "MY GOD,

MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN

ME?" WE, WE CAN'T UNDERSTAND

AN IMMEASURABLE AMOUNT OF WHAT

THE SUFFERING CHRIST ENDURED

THERE. BUT THAT GIVES US

A GLIMPSE INTO THE FACT THAT

THIS HIGH PRIEST HAS ENDURED

EVERY PAIN, EVERY

DISAPPOINTMENT, EVERY ABUSE,

EVERYTHING WE COULD EVER

ENVISION, ALL THE MORE.

SO THIS HIGH PRIEST UNDERSTANDS

US; HE'S OUR INTERCESSORY

TO GOD; HE'S THE GOD-MAN;

HE EMPATHIZES. AND WE COME

TO HIM FOR GRACE AND MERCY IN

TIME OF NEED. WHEN I NEED HIM.

>>ANKERBERG: THERE ARE TIMES

WHEN YOU COME HOME.

ON A REGULAR SCALE OF 1-10,

WHAT'S A GOOD DAY FOR YOU?

>>EASLEY: WELL, ANYTHING BELOW

A 6 I'M SORT OF CIVIL,

OTHERWISE I'M ORNERY.

>>ANKERBERG: OKAY.

SO WHEN YOU GET UP THERE,

8 AND 9, AND YOU COME HOME

AND CINDY KNOWS, YOU GO DOWN

IN THE BASEMENT TO YOUR PRIVATE

ROOM. HOW DOES THIS VERSE

HELP YOU?

>>EASLEY: I CLING TO WHAT

I KNOW. I DON'T LET

MY EXPERIENCE TELL ME SOMETHING

ABOUT GOD THAT I DON'T BELIEVE.

AND WHEN, WHEN THE PAIN CRASHES

IN, WHEN THE DISAPPOINTMENT

COMES IN, WHEN THE PHYSICIANS

CAN'T HELP, WHEN ALL THOSE

THINGS YOU AFOREMENTIONED NAMED

CAN'T HELP YOU, IT'S YOU,

GOD AND PAIN. AND I CONTINUE

TO REMIND MYSELF MY EXPERIENCE

DOES NOT TELL ME WHO GOD IS.

>>ANKERBERG: THAT'S VERY

IMPORTANT. SAY THAT AGAIN.

>>EASLEY: YEAH. MY EXPERIENCE

DOES NOT TELL ME WHO GOD IS.

HIS WORD TELLS ME WHO HE IS.

AND THIS IS ONE OF THE PROBLEMS

WE HAVE IN THE WEST AND AROUND

THE WORLD. WE LOOK AT

OUR EXPERIENCE TO SEE

WHO GOD IS AND WHAT HE'S LIKE.

AND THAT'S A LIE.

WE HAVE TO ERASE THAT.

WE CAN'T IN HUMAN TERMS DEFINE

THIS GOD. AND SO HIS WORD

TELLS US WHO HE IS, WHAT HE'S

DONE, WHAT HE'S ACCOMPLISHED.

AND SO, FOR ME IT'S THAT,

IT'S SORT OF A COCOON

OF ME, GOD, AND PAIN. AND WHEN

I HAVE HIS WORD, THE PAIN

DOESN'T GO AWAY.

IT'S NOT LIKE A SPIRITUAL

IBUPROFEN; ALL OF A SUDDEN

I FEEL BETTER AND I HAVE JOY IN

MY HEART. AND I KNOW IN MY HEAD

AND I BELIEVE IN THAT

CONFESSION; THAT WHAT HE SAID

ABOUT HIS WORD IS TRUE.

IF I CAN STAKE MY SOUL ON THAT,

CAN I STAKE MY DAY-TO-DAY LIFE

ON THAT?

>>ANKERBERG: ALRIGHT.

I WANT TO SWITCH OVER TO JONI,

OKAY? I WANT YOU TO GIVE THEM

A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND

OF WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU,

BECAUSE AT 17 YOU WERE

A BEAUTIFUL VIVACIOUS GIRL,

OKAY? WHAT HAPPENED?

AND THEN I WANT YOU TO TALK

SPECIFICALLY TO PEOPLE

THAT ARE IN SO MUCH PAIN.

I ASKED SOME OF MY STAFF

MEMBERS TO ASK SOME OF

THEIR MATES THAT ARE IN GREAT

PAIN, "GIVE ME FOUR QUESTIONS

FOR MY TWO GUESTS FOR

THIS PROGRAM ON SUFFERING AND

PAIN AND WHAT GOD CAN DO FOR

YOU." FOUR QUESTIONS WERE THIS:

WHEN DOES THAT PAIN STOP?

WHEN DOES THE PAIN STOP?

WHEN DOES THE PAIN STOP?

WHEN DOES THE PAIN STOP?

THAT'S THE ONLY THING

THEY WANTED TO KNOW. THERE ARE

SOME PEOPLE THAT DO NOT WANT

TO HEAR ANYTHING FROM GOD

THAT IS BEYOND THEIR SUFFERING,

OKAY? YOU WERE THERE

FOR TWO YEARS. YOU DIDN'T WANT

ANYBODY TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT

BIBLE VERSES, OKAY?

SO GIVE ME THE BACKGROUND.

START WITH WHAT HAPPENED,

GIVE ME THAT STORY, AND THEN

A WORD TO THOSE PEOPLE THAT ARE

SAYING, "YOU KNOW, I DON'T

REALLY CARE WHAT YOU SAY."

>>JONI E. TADA: WELL,

I WAS AN ATHLETIC YOUNG ACTIVE

TEENAGER AND DID RECKLESS

THINGS WHEN I WOULD

GET INTO ATHLETICS.

AND TOOK A STUPID DIVE INTO

WHAT WAS REALLY VERY SHALLOW

WATER, THINKING I WOULD COME

UP OUT OF THE PIKE DIVE.

BUT I DID NOT. AND MY HEAD

HIT THE BOTTOM OF A SAND BAR.

IT SNAPPED MY SKULL BACK

AND CRUNCHED MY VERTEBRAE

AND SEVERED MY SPINAL CORD.

AND I'M LYING FACE DOWN IN

THE WATER TOTALLY PARALYZED.

AND THANKFULLY MY SISTER

WHO WAS IN THE WATER WITH ME

HAPPENED TO SEE THAT I WAS

FLOATING FACE DOWN.

IRONICALLY ENOUGH I HAD JUST

COLORED MY HAIR THE NIGHT

BEFORE WITH A PEROXIDE, AND

SHE COULD SEE MY BLOND HAIR

FLOATING ON THE SURFACE OF

THE WATER. THAT CAPTURED

HER ATTENTION. AND SHE QUICKLY

CAME, RESCUED ME,

PULLED ME UP OUT OF THE WATER.

I'M SPITTING, I'M SPUTTERING,

I'M GASPING FOR BREATH.

THEY TAKE ME TO THE HOSPITAL;

THEY RIP OFF MY SWIM SUIT;

THEY DRIVE BOLTS INTO MY SKULL;

THEY PUT ME IN TRACTION ALONG

A CANVAS SANDWICH, A STRYKER

FRAME. AND I... AND ALL OF THIS

IS HAPPENING IN A WHIRLWIND

OF SPEED. AND I, AND SUDDENLY,

WHEN THE DOCTORS TOLD ME,

"JONI, YOU'VE SEVERED

YOUR SPINAL CORD;

YOU'RE, YOU'RE NEVER GOING

TO USE YOUR HANDS AGAIN; AND

YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO WALK,"

I PLUMMETED INTO DEPRESSION.

I, I, I COULDN'T EVEN COMPUTE

WHAT IT MEANT NEVER TO BE ABLE

TO BE ABLE TO WALK AGAIN,

NEVER TO BE ABLE TO HOLD A COCA

COLA OR, OR BRUSH MY HAIR OR

MY TEETH, OR.... I WAS

OVERWHELMED. AND THIS KIND

OF SUICIDAL DESPAIR REALLY

GRIPPED ME. I, I WOULD LIE

IN BED AT NIGHT WRENCHING

MY HEAD BACK AND FORTH ON

THE PILLOW HOPING TO BREAK

MY NECK UP AT SOME HIGHER LEVEL

AND SO THEREBY KILL MYSELF.

BUT I WAS AFRAID TO DO THAT

BECAUSE THEN I'D ONLY BE WORSE.

AND I FELT SO ALONE.

AND I WAS LISTENING TO MICHAEL

READ IN THE LAST SEGMENT FROM

HEBREWS. AND I DESPERATELY

WANTED TO BELIEVE GOD,

BUT IF HE WAS THE GOD THAT

HE MADE HIMSELF OUT TO BE

IN THE BIBLE, THEN SOMEHOW,

SOME WAY, HE, HE HAD A HAND

IN THIS. AND HOW COULD HE BE

TRUSTED IF HE HAD A HAND IN IT?

BUT ONE NIGHT, JOHN, I WAS

FEELING SO OVERWHELMED AND SO

LONELY, SO DESPERATELY ALONE

IN MY PAIN AND IN MY DESPAIR.

FOR SOME REASON I STARTED

IMAGINING THIS,

THIS JESUS THAT MICHAEL

WAS SPEAKING ABOUT.

I PICTURED HIM WALKING THROUGH

THE DOOR OF MY HOSPITAL ROOM,

PAST MY ROOMMATES WHO WERE ALL

SLEEPING. I PICTURED HIM COMING

UP TO THE EDGE OF MY HOSPITAL

BED. I IMAGINED HIM. I DIDN'T

SEE HIM, I JUST IMAGINED HIM

TAKING THE GUARD RAIL AND

GENTLY CLUNK, CLUNK, LOWERING

IT. AND THEN SITTING ON

THE EDGE OF MY HOSPITAL

MATTRESS AND BRUSHING MY HAIR

OUT OF MY EYES.

AND THEN SHOWING ME

HIS HANDPRINT, HIS PALM,

AND SAYING TO ME GENTLY,

"JONI, IF I LOVED YOU ENOUGH

TO DIE FOR YOU, DON'T YOU THINK

I CAN BE TRUSTED EVEN WITH

THIS?" AND THAT, TO ME,

EPITOMIZED WHAT YOU TWO WERE

TALKING ABOUT A MINUTE AGO

FROM HEBREWS, CHAPTER 4. I HAD

A HIGH PRIEST. I HAD A GOD.

THE GOD OF THE BIBLE WASN'T

SOME MEDITATING MYSTIC OF

A GURU OF A GOD ON

SOME FAR OFF MOUNTAIN TOP

CONTEMPLATING HIS NAVAL,

TWIDDLING HIS THUMBS,

STAYING AT SOME ARM'S LENGTH

DISTANCE FROM ME AND MY PAIN.

NO, HE GOT RIGHT DOWN INTO

THE DEPTHS OF MY PAIN.

AND I BEGAN TO SEE THAT NIGHT

THAT JESUS GOES WHERE NOBODY

ELSE GOES. HE GOES WHERE

NO DOCTOR GOES. HE GOES WHERE

NO COUNSELOR GOES. HE GOES

WHERE NO MEDICATION GOES.

AND IF YOU, IF I, WOULD BUT

OPEN MY HEART TO HIM

AND LET HIM IN, I WOULD BEGIN

TO SEE HIS PLAN AND PURPOSE FOR

MY LIFE. AND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

OVERNIGHT, NOT WITH A SNAP

OF A FINGER. BUT THAT NIGHT

THAT I IMAGINED HIM VISITING

ME, AND SAYING, "JONI,

I CAN BE TRUSTED," THAT WAS

A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

>>ANKERBERG: YOU'VE GIVEN US

TWO PICTURES,

DESCRIBE THE FIRST ONE.

>>TADA: WELL, THIS RIGHT HERE

IS A COPY OF A CHARCOAL SKETCH

THAT I DID WHEN I WAS

IN THE HOSPITAL. I LEARNED

HOW TO HOLD CHARCOAL PENCILS

BETWEEN MY TEETH

AND WRITE AND SKETCH

AND DRAW. I WAS A BIT OF

AN ARTIST BEFORE MY ACCIDENT,

AND WHEN I DREW

THIS GHOULISH PICTURE,

A PICTURE OF DEEP ANGUISH,

WHAT I WANTED TO CONVEY WAS,

"OH, GOD, THIS IS NOW

MY LIFE? THIS IS WHAT

I'M GOING TO HAVE TO LIVE WITH

FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE?

I CAN'T DO THIS. I, I,

I CAN'T, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE."

AND I KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING

RESONATES WITH SO MANY OF

OUR VIEWERS WHO ARE IN THAT

SAME PIT OF DESPAIR, "OH, GOD,

THIS IS NOW MY LIFE?"

YOU HAVE A BRAIN INJURY,

PERHAPS A DEEP LONELINESS,

A MENTAL ILLNESS, MAYBE A CHILD

BORN WITH SEVERE DISABILITIES,

OR YOUR HUSBAND LEAVES YOU,

OR YOU GET A BAD MEDICAL REPORT

THAT'S GAME CHANGING, AND

LIFE ALTERING, AND YOU THINK,

"THIS IS NOW MY LIFE?

I CAN'T DO THIS."

AND I JUST WANT OUR VIEWERS

TO KNOW THAT MICHAEL AND I

HAVE SAID THE SAME THING.

IN FACT, I SAID THE SAME THING

THIS MORNING WHEN I GOT UP,

"OH, JESUS, I CAN'T DO THIS."

BUT, AND THIS IS WHAT I LOVE

ABOUT THE BIBLE, IT'S ALWAYS

SO FULL OF HOPE.

AND THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF

ANCHORS OF HOPE TO HOLD ON TO.

AND THE ONE I HELD ON

TO THIS MORNING WAS, BUT,

"I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH

CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME."

PHILIPPIANS 4:13.

I CAN'T DO THIS, BUT I CAN DO

ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST.

>>ANKERBERG: THAT PICTURE IS

GOING TO HAUNT ME FOREVER,

OKAY? WHAT WAS THE SECOND

PICTURE ABOUT?

>>TADA: WELL, THIS SECOND

PICTURE I DID NOT DRAW

THIS PARTICULAR ONE, A FRIEND

OF MINE DREW IT OF ME WHEN

I GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL.

AND WHEN HE SAW ME PIECING

TOGETHER THE PUZZLE OF MY LIFE,

HE WANTED TO CONVEY, "JONI,

I KNOW YOU WANT YOUR LIFE

TO FIT, BE TIDY, NEAT, ORDERLY.

I KNOW YOU WANT EVERYTHING

TO BE LOGICAL. I KNOW YOU WANT

YOUR LIFE TO MAKE SENSE.

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, A LOT

OF PUZZLE PIECES ARE GOING

TO GO MISSING, AND YOU'RE

NOT GOING TO FIND THEM UNTIL

THE OTHER SIDE OF ETERNITY."

AND WHEN I SAW THIS SKETCH THAT

MY FRIEND DID OF ME, MY FIRST

THOUGHT WAS, WELL THEN, WISDOM

IS NOT BEING ABLE TO PUT ALL

OF THE PUZZLE PIECES TOGETHER

AS TO WHY GOD ALLOWED THIS TO

HAPPEN. WISDOM IS TRUSTING GOD

EVEN WHEN MOST OF THE PUZZLE

PIECES GO MISSING.

EVEN WHEN YOU KNOW THAT ON

THIS SIDE OF ETERNITY YOUR LIFE

IS NOT GOING TO MAKE SENSE,

BUT IT WILL ON THE OTHER SIDE.

AND THAT HOPE IS WHAT KEEPS ME

GOING. TO KNOW THAT ONE DAY

GOD'S GOING TO GIVE ME THE KEY

THAT WILL UNLOCK SENSE

OUT OF MY SEEMINGLY SENSELESS

QUADRIPLEGIA. AND I CAN'T WAIT

FOR THAT DAY.

I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.

>>ANKERBERG: MICHAEL,

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HOW CAN

PEOPLE COME OUT OF DEPRESSION

WHEN THEY HEAR THE BAD NEWS.

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN YOU SAT

ON THE COUCH WITH YOUR WIFE,

AND THE TEARS WERE STREAMING

DOWN YOUR FACE. BUT SHE SAID

SOMETHING TO YOU THAT STARTED

THE PROCESS OF YOU COMING OUT.

WHAT DID SHE SAY?

>>EASLEY: WHEN I, WHEN I HINTED

AT THIS IDEA OF I UNDERSTOOD

WHY PEOPLE WOULD TAKE

THEIR LIVES, I ASKED HER,

"HOW DO YOU DO IT?" BECAUSE

SHE'S WATCHING HER HUSBAND,

SHE'S HELPLESS TO DO ANYTHING

FOR ME. AND SHE PAUSED

FOR IT SEEMED LIKE THREE

OR FOUR MINUTES, BUT PROBABLY

A FEW SECONDS, AND SHE CLOSED

HER EYES. AND THEN SHE LOOKED

AT ME AND SHE SAID,

"ALL I KNOW IS THAT GOD HAS

BEEN FAITHFUL TO THIS VERY DAY.

WHY WOULD HE NOT BE FAITHFUL

TOMORROW?" AND THAT WAS JUST

THE FULCRUM I NEEDED TO SAY,

"OKAY, EASLEY, DO THE NEXT

THING, JUST DO THE NEXT THING.

DON'T GO DOWN THIS HOLE BECAUSE

I KNOW IT DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE

GOOD." AND THAT WAS ONE

OF THE MANY INCREMENTAL CHANGES

FOR ME, JOHN, TO START

GETTING OUT OF THAT DEPRESSION.

>>TADA: YOU KNOW, MICHAEL, THAT

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME.

I MEAN, CINDY WAS THERE

TO SPEAK TRUTH INTO YOUR LIFE.

AND I THINK WHEN PEOPLE SUFFER,

WHEN THEY'RE FEELING ALONE AND

DESPERATE, HOW WONDERFUL IT IS

TO HAVE SOMEONE TO SPEAK TRUTH

INTO YOUR LIFE. AND,

AND THERE WERE CHRISTIAN

FRIENDS WHO CAME BY THAT

BEDSIDE AND THEY BROUGHT PIZZA

AND THEY BROUGHT DONUTS, AND

THEY BROUGHT NAIL POLISH

FOR MY PARALYZED HANDS,

AND THEY BRUSHED MY DIRTY HAIR.

AND THEY WERE THE HANDS OF

JESUS. AND WHEN PEOPLE SUFFER

THEY JUST SHOULD NOT SUFFER

ALONE. GOD NEVER INTENDED THAT

HURTING PEOPLE SHOULD SUFFER

ALONE. IT'S WHY HE CREATED

SPIRITUAL COMMUNITY;

IT'S WHY HE CREATED THE CHURCH.

AND THERE ARE CHRISTIANS WITHIN

REACH OF ANYONE WHO IS HURTING

TODAY. AND IT MIGHT TAKE

ALL YOUR HUMAN EFFORT

TO REACH OUT TO THEM AND SAY,

"I NEED HELP."

BUT THAT'S A GOOD THING.

I MEAN, IT'S, IT'S A WONDERFUL

THING TO SAY, "NOT ONLY

DO I NEED HELP FROM GOD,

I NEED HELP FROM HIS PEOPLE,"

AND LET THEM SPEAK TRUTH

INTO YOUR LIFE: THAT INDEED

GOD IS GOING TO BE THERE

WITH YOU IN THAT PAIN.

HE WAS WOUNDED, JESUS WAS

WOUNDED WITH ALL YOUR MISERIES

SO THAT HE MIGHT BE YOUR

MERCIFUL HIGH PRIEST AND BE

YOUR ADVOCATE BEFORE THE FATHER

AND CHAMPION YOUR CAUSE AND

POUR OUT HIS GRACE AND INFUSE

HIS PEACE AND HIS POWER AND

PERSPECTIVE. ALL IT TAKES

IS A STEP OF FAITH, MUSTARD

SEED SIZE THOUGH IT MIGHT BE,

IT CAN BE AS SMALL AS

YOU COULD POSSIBLY IMAGINE.

BUT GOD, MY GOODNESS YOU GIVE

HIM AN INCH, HE'LL TAKE A MILE.

AND HE'LL MAKE SO MUCH OF THAT

STEP OF FAITH ON YOUR PART

TO INFUSE HIS HOPE

AND HIS ENCOURAGEMENT.

TAKES TIME, BUT IT'LL HAPPEN.

>>ANKERBERG: MICHAEL,

FINISH THIS UP.

WHAT WOULD YOU ADVISE

THE PERSON THAT HAS HAD THE BIG

SURPRISE, HAS LISTENED TO WHAT

WE'VE SAID. HOW DO THEY START?

>>EASLEY: YOU HAVE TO COME

TO THE END OF YOURSELF.

YOU HAVE TO RECOGNIZE

YOU'VE GOT TO GET HELP.

YOU NEED SOMEONE TO HELP YOU.

AND TO TAG ON WHAT JONI JUST

SAID, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE ARE

WIRED IN THE, IN THE BODY

TO BE HELPERS AND IT'S HARD

FOR SELF-SUFFICIENT PEOPLE

TO ACCEPT THAT. AND FOR SOME

OF US THAT'S MORE CHALLENGING

THAN OTHERS,

TO ASK FOR THAT HELP.

BUT TURNING TO CHRIST,

HE IS THE HIGH PRIEST.

HUMANITY CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH

AND THEY CAN DO A LOT.

BUT DEEP IN THE CORE

WHERE WE ACHE AND NOTHING CAN

ADDRESS, DEEP IN OUR HEARTS,

DEEP IN OUR HEAD,

WHEN NO ONE CAN QUITE

GET THERE WITH THE RIGHT

MEDICATION, CHRIST LOVES YOU.

AND HE IS THAT HIGH PRIEST,

HE IS THAT PERFECT INTERCESSOR;

AND TO PUT YOUR TRUST IN HIM,

TO TURN TO HIM,

AND HE WILL NOT FAIL.

>>ANKERBERG: FOLKS, WE'RE JUST

GETTING STARTED ON THIS.

AND NEXT WEEK I'M GOING TO ASK

JONI AND MICHAEL TO TALK ABOUT

HOW GOD HAS HELPED THEM FACE

DEPRESSION AND DISCOURAGEMENT.

BECAUSE EVEN WITH ALL THAT

YOU'VE SAID TODAY THERE HAVE

BEEN TIMES WHEN YOU BOTH HAVE

HIT THE WALL AND YOU'VE GOT

INTO DEPRESSION AND

DISCOURAGEMENT.

GOD HAS HELPED YOU.

I WANT TO KNOW WHY, HOW,

HOW IT HAPPENED, OKAY?

AND WHAT HAPPENED?

AND I WANT THIS FOR YOU FOLKS

THAT ARE AT HOME THAT

ARE LISTENING. THIS IS WHAT

WE ALL EXPERIENCE.

SO I HOPE YOU'LL JOIN US THEN.

>>ANKERBERG: YOU KNOW,

Horror Films with My Mum | Hororaj Filmoj kun la Patrino - Duration: 4:25.

Hello all

I'm Evildea. Your God.

and today I want to speak about the time

in my life, when my mum fell in love with horror films

She still loves horror films

but I remember the time, when it all started

So, I was 6 / 7 years old, I don't remember any more

but I remember that we visited the video store a lot

to hire new horror films

we would find a new horror film almost once a week

and I'd watch it with her

because I was the star of her life

the oldest son, I needed to watch the films with her

because of these very intimate moments with my mum

my childhood was full of horror dreams, I shit you not

I was scared so much that there were ghosts and monster

here and there and under the bed

Perhaps, that's the reason why I was so timid

when I was younger

but there were several films, which I still remember really well

for example, "The Blob" and "The house on the hunted hill"

and there was "The Exorcist"

There were so many horror films

and because of here I couldn't watch horror films for years

and, in fact, when I became an adult

when I thought of those films, I was still scared

I needed to go back and re-watch them

just to see that they weren't so bad

So, there was one particular film and moment in my life

when everything went to shit

We watch a film, which was called "The Blob"

and the story went like this

There was an alien or a creature from another planet

I don't know how to describe it

but in essence it was a massive, strangely-formed moving thing

which travelled most of the time through pipes in houses

and under houses and between houses

and then, for example, if you went to the sink or toilet

then, the blob would explode from the sink or toilet bowl

and grab you and pull you into the bowl or sink

and, of course, your entire body would break and then

you'd be sucked into the sink

One night, I went to the toilet

and I could see the toilet bowl there

and it was perhaps a meter in front of me

and I saw it but I didn't want to get closer

I was scared that the blob would explode out of the bowl

and grab me

So, what do I do?

I needed to use it but I didn't want to get close

So, I did this

I wiped out my dick and started pissing

from two meters away

and, of course, I couldn't reach the bowl well

and I pissed on the walls, on the bowl

on the surroundings, the edge of it

and almost everywhere

and for one month, my parents couldn't understand

why I suddenly forgot how to use the toilet bowl

and after that I had to tell them why

and then for a few months, I needed to go to the bowl

with them because I was scared, that the blob would explode out of it

and grab me and I wanted them to save me

But it was a strange moment in my life

and now I just want to ask you

Did anything like that happen to you when you were a child

and that's all

So, if you've liked this video

Like it, share it around

Sub to my channel, if you haven't already

and I'll see you all in the next video

and if you're not there

I'll explode out of your toilet bowl like this

and grab you!

German elections: Can the AfD win this year? - Duration: 5:43.

It's election year in Germany, and there has been a lot of discussion about it.

Following the Brexit referendum in the UK, Trump's success in the US presidential election,

and the apparent rise of the National Front in France,

there's talk of a wave of populism sweeping across the western world.

Apparently, a lot of people are either worried or hopeful

that the right-wing Alternative für Deutschland, with its robust views on immigration, might win.

Well, predicting the future is a mug's game.

But let me begin by explaining how the German system works.

It's nothing like the system in the US,

with its three branches of government kept strictly separate,

and the German Chancellor is not directly elected.

Germany has a European parliamentary system,

not an American presidential system.

It is a bicameral system, which means there are two chambers.

There's the Federal Council, which is made up of some of the members of the 16 state assemblies,

and the Bundestag, or Federal Diet, which is the chamber elected by the people.

There is also the head of government, the Chancellor,

and the head of state, the President.

The President has mostly ceremonial duties, and is also not directly elected.

But he can refuse to sign into law any bill

if he thinks it's not constitutional, or if proper parliamentary procedure was not observed.

That's quite a powerful veto, but it is very rarely used.

It's the Bundestag that's being elected, and therefore indirectly also the Chancellor.

Traditionally, the main parties are:

the CSU in Bavaria and the CDU in the rest of Germany,

which together make up the so-called "Union";

the SPD;

and the FDP.

There are also several smaller parties, including the AfD.

Germany is divided into 299 constituencies.

Each voter gets a ballot paper with local candidates on one side

and political parties on the other.

So everyone gets to vote for one candidate and one party list.

In each constituency the candidate with the most votes is directly elected to the Bundestag.

If that's where the story ended, then it would be a simple first-past-the-post system,

such as exists in, for example, the UK.

But that could lead to inconsistencies.

For example, at the last election in 2013,

Union candidates got 45% of the votes,

but won 79% of the constituencies, which would give them a massive majority.

So next, the party list votes are counted,

and extra members are added to the directly elected members

until the proportions are right.

That way you get the advantage of first-past-the-post —

members representing the interests of local constituencies —

and the advantage of proportional representation —

a government that accurately reflects the way people voted.

But not all parties can have these top-up members,

because otherwise you'd end up with a vast assembly of potentially thousands of members.

To be eligible for these extra members, your party has to either win three seats,

or get 5% of the national vote.

That's how the FDP crashed out in 2013.

Normally one of the bigger parties,

they failed to win a single constituency

and only got 4.8% of the vote.

If a party wins at least 50% of the seats,

they can form the next government with all the other parties in opposition.

But this pretty much never happens,

and so then the race is on to form a coalition.

For example, here's a recent opinion poll

showing the SPD and the Union on 30% each.

If this were an election result, they could form a coalition with 60%.

But if they can't agree on the terms of a coalition, then instead

the SPD might, for example, form a coalition

with the Left, the Greens and the FDP to get 52%.

After the election, the President suggests a candidate for the post of Chancellor.

In theory, this could be almost any German citizen over the age of 18 years,

but in practice will normally be the leader of the largest party in the governing coalition.

The Bundestag then votes;

and if at least half the members agree, which so far has always been the case,

then that person becomes the new Chancellor.

If not, then the Bundestag must make a suggestion, then they vote on it;

if that doesn't work, then there's another vote;

and if that doesn't work, then the President has to step in and sort it all out.

So, how likely is it that Angela Merkel will be replaced by somebody from the AfD?

I can't actually see into the future, but I have to say: not at all.

If opinion polls are anything to go by,

the AfD is nowhere near getting 50% of the vote.

They have cleared the 5% barrier,

so it's very likely that they will, for the first time ever, be represented in the Bundestag;

but there's a long way to go before they can get half the electorate voting for them.

The other option would be to form part of a governing coalition.

The only problem with that is that at the moment

none of the other parties will want to work with the AfD.

In short, I think the AfD will be in the Bundestag,

but in opposition — not in government.

The Slow Dance I A Short Film - Duration: 10:30.

*music*

"I Will Love You" - David Myles

*music fades out*

Dad: Landen is that you?

Landen: Yeah, it's me dad.

*sound of door closing*

Dad: What is it son?

Landen: Dad...*takes deep breathe*

Dad...I

Dad: I have noticed a change in you as of late.

Landen: Dad, I'm just tired...

Dad: *takes deep breath in*

Dad: Is it the workload on the farm, son?

I know since I retired...and

*dad takes deep breath out*

with your mother passing...

*dad sighs*

I have put a lot on your plate.

But Landen, you're strong, and I know you can handle this.

You are stronger than you know.

*dad sighs*

stronger than even I.

Landen: No, Dad, it's not the workload...

I love the farm.

and I am going to keep my promise to you an mom and take good care of the place.

I know how much she loved it here.

I love it too.

It's just that...

*Landen sighs*

I just wish that I had something more...

...something like you and mom had here.

Dad: I know.

it's not a day that goes by that I don't think about your mother, Landen.

a love like that doesn't come around in everyone's lifetime...

But it does exist.

you just have to keep your eyes open, son.

In the meantime, you need your rest Landen...

tomorrow's a new day.

*slamming hood of truck*

Woman: Well hey there stranger. Long time no see.

*awkward* Landen: Hey...

Woman: Ugh...did your truck breakdown?

Landen: No, it's fine.

*Landen sniffs*

Woman: You don't remember me do you?

Landen: Uhhh

well, I ah...

Woman: *laugh sighs* I thought I was more memorable than that!

Landen: Well, you certainly are...but uh, you're still going to have to tell me your name.

Woman: Better yet...

*sound of bike kickstand*

how about you race me to the end of that road...

If you win, I'll tell you my name...

Deal?

Landen: Okay, you're on!

*footsteps and laughter*

*woman giggles*

*footsteps and laughter*

*woman sighs out of breath*

Woman: Well, it looks like you lost your chance there, stranger.

*Landen chuckles*

*silence*

*bike sounds as woman leaves*

*Landen chuckles to himself*

*crunching leaves under feet*

*silence*

Landen: I won't always be a stranger.

*footsteps of dad*

Dad: Well there's a face I haven't seen in a while.

Landen: What do you mean by that?

*dad lets out a happy sigh*

You're smiling, son

and it looks good on you!

*Landen taps table*

Landen: Dad...

*hands hit table*

it's like the Universe heard our talk the other night.

*Landen's foot hits floor*

Dad: What do you mean, son?

Landen: Well...

I met an extraordinary woman today, dad...

she...came in with the wind or something...

out of nowhere

*Landen's hand slaps knee*

she was an instant breath of fresh air.

Dad: Well, who is she?

Landen: Here's the funny thing...I don't know.

*Landen sighs*

I mean...I feel like I know her from some place...but...

I honestly can't place it.

Dad: Well maybe you will reunite with her tonight...

...at the dance.

Landen: Dad, I have too much work to do...I can't go to the dance.

Dad: Now Landen, listen to me.

work can wait.

you're always working and it's making you miserable!

did you realize that today is the first day I actually saw you smile?

now your mother and I have taught you the importance of work, Landen...

but work isn't everything...

...and I need you to know that I am proud of you and how hard you work.

*dad sighs*

but work is what you do, son...

it's not who you are.

memories aren't made by standing still...

nor are they made by moving too fast...

life is...

like a slow dance.

You've gotta take it in your hand

take charge...

take the lead...

and share it...

ALL...

with a partner who's going to dance to the same tune as you, son.

*bar music* "ShotDown" - Josh Woodward

*people chattering*

*Landen sips on beer*

*Landen talks aloud to himself*

Landen: Dad's right...

I need to relax more.

life is like a slow dance...

*instrumental music*

*Landen voiceover*

Landen: She's Ellie, Ellie Nyan!

*instrumental music continues with people chattering in background*

*leaves crunching under feet*

Landen: Hey there, stranger...

Ellie: Hey, You.

Landen: Um...I'm Landen, Landen MacKay.

and you are...Ellie Nyan.

First girl I ever slow danced with.

Ellie: Impressive...

*high heels walking on wooden stairs*

Ellie: You remembered!

Landen: Well...I ugh...

*high heels walking on wooden stairs*

Landen: I kind of remembered...

*high heels walking on wooden floor*

Landen: Maybe you can jog my memory...

*Landen voiceover*

Landen: May I have this dance, Ellie?

*Ellie voiceover*

Ellie: Of course you may.

QUICK, DRAW! - WTF DOES A HARP LOOK LIKE?! - Duration: 12:25.

Hey, what's up you guys?

So today I'm gonna be...

I don't know what I'm talking (about)...

(beep)

So you definitely didn't know this about me but I do art.

A lot of it.

So much so that I've ruined my mousepad.

Can you see the paint stains on here?

Like, really?

It's the most basic mousepad though, like...

(overdramatic) "Day Dreamer"

I don't know why I bought it. It was like 5 dollars

So yeah, I do a lot of art.

And linking with that I thought that today I would play a game

because I haven't done gaming in like 9 months.

So I'm going to be playing 'Quick, Draw!' today

If you don't know what 'Quick, Draw!' is

It's pretty much you just draw what the computer says and it's actually hilarious

It's like Pictionary except with a computer and you don't have to wait around for people to do stuff

Let's draw

This is going to be really interesting because I'm using a mouse but let's go.

Let's make sure the volume isn't gonna like blast you

Draw a syringe

Okay I'm trying to think about what that is, what that would look like. Okay.

Umm like- (game cuts me off)

Syringe. What does a syringe have? Okay. Like a thing at the end?

Noo! It's not a clarinet!

What do they have on them? Umm

Thingies, like...

Okay

I was trying to draw liquid inside of it because...

There's normally like bubbles inside of the liquid or whatever

That...doesn't make sense (laughs)

Okay. Shark. Oh my god

Righto

Noo

It's a shark

(laughs) What is that tail?

Okay. Calendar. Okay

Let's go for it (Random vacuuming sounds in background)

Square

Nooo. Numbers. Think of numbers

It's a calendar!

Let's draw a cruise ship now!

I gotta think about what this looks like. Okay

We'll do some waves and a GIANT boat

No, it's a giant boat, it's a GIANT boat, it's a GIANT BOAT

No, it's not a sandwich!

Waves! Sea! Ship!

Nooo

That was...gorgeous

Let's draw a nail now

Okay, so we going to go draw the top of it

and then the spike

(clap) Yes!

Now we've gotta draw a vase. Okay. Righto

Let's go with like the top and then you gotta go around

Let's see what shark looks like, coz that was hilarious

Shark, frog and BREAD

And someone started to write bread when they did it

This is what other people's sharks looks like

THEY DREW A CAT. What the hell?

Okay, that shark is amazing, oh my god.

They did not do that in 20 seconds.

I bet they did that at Google and were like:

Yes, our sophisticated artists can do this in 20 seconds

And of course, they expect everyone to be sophisticated artists and this is what we produced

(laughs) Oh, this is such a perfect representation of the human kind

Oh! I forgot to zoom in on the camera

HELLO! Okay sorry, there we go

Now you can see me better

SO LET'S DRAW! Yayyy

An anvil?!

Okay?

This is not what an anvil looks like

Okay, so I got it

I just sorta thought of that from RuneScape in 2006

That's 100% why I know what anvils look like

An ambulance.

Righteo. Let's go for an ambulance

It's like

The truck, the front of the truck, the giant truck (the back)

You need the ambulance thing (the siren)

Yes! Got it

A sandwich

Draw a square

No it's a sandwich mate

I drew a square. How did you know that was a sandwich?

But whatever

Passport

Ummm. It's like a book

So I'm gonna draw a book

Oh my god this is awful

Okay we need a photo and we need some lines...

Good job! You guessed my really awful drawing.

This is a lot harder with a mouse than a tablet, just sayin

Okay, hat.

I bet everyone has done this

Are you actually-

Are you kidding me?

I drew a hat

on a person

Nooo! Hat! HAT!

That was really sad

Fork. Let's draw a fork

There we go

Yay

Okay. I'm going to play 3 rounds because that's really fun

Let's see what other people drew for hat

So I got marker, camouflage and the great wall of China

*awkward silence*

Perfect!

SEE? I DREW THAT! Look at that. I drew that at the start

No that's a very square hat but that's... beside the point

Their hats are nice. That hat is beautiful

Oh my god. Someone drew a wizard hat

You can bet that the Harry Potter fans will be everywhere

Let's play it again!

A hurricane?

All I can think of is a tornado so how about I draw some like-

Okay let's draw some palm trees like...

Like FREAKING OUT

This is not going well

wind, Wind, WInd, WIND, no

That was...

Not particularly good

Okay, postcard

Ready? GOOO!

*Clap Clap Clap* I feel like such an artist right now, just like...

(sarcastic) Everyone just knows EXACTLY what I want to say

A purse, Okay.

I don't know what I'm doing

How do you not know what this is?

Nope. It's a purse, it's a purse, it's a purse

Money, money

MONEY

Ugh this game is so frustrating!

Righteo so tail with the fin

How do you not know that that's a mermaid

YES. I drew the scales in there

I am SUCH an artist right now

Literally this is intense. it's so much fun

PILLOW. Oh my god

Oh shhhh...bugger

How do you erase?

Oh my god this was a terrible mistake

Draw some Zs

Nooo. How was that not a sleeping bag?

How? You're so...

DUMB, computer

Oh my god, I have to get the spoon, I have to get the spoon

Draw the top of it

Oh my god. It's a spoon

It's a spoon! It's a SPOOOON

Okay that was a mistake I didn't mean to

I've still got 6 seconds. Let's go!

Spoon, spoon, spoon...SPOON

*pterodactyl squawk*

How did you not guess that that was a spoon?!?

YOU'RE SO STUPID

Okay...one more round....one more round

Pillow!

Okay so I'm gonna make it like a fluffy pillow so they can guess it

finally

Are you sh*ting me?

A circle?

A literal circle?

Are you actually sh*tting me?

What the...What?

How is that a... How is that an art thing to draw? It's a CIRCLE

A dumbell. Alrighty

*humming motivational music*

Yeeeah...buddy

Okay telephone

See... Do I draw a smartphone or do I draw one of the old ones connected to the wall?

I think I'll do the telephone connected to the wall because I feel like it's mobile if you have the smartphone

Logic...logic.

Okay so we're going to draw like the top of it

It's a phone, it's a phone. Oh my god I'm going to have to go with the iPhone

Nono It's an iPhone! It's an iPhone. It's an iPhone

HOW did you not guess telephone for that?

I'm an artist like ugh

Okay. Harp

I think I know the shape of a harp!

I do not know the shape of a harp

I'll draw music notes up in here

No. Harp, it's a harp, it's a harp

What's the shape of a harp? I've forgotten it

I keep trying to draw this sort of thing

No, no

Just screw it up at the end for their system

Okay candle. This is the last drawing, guys.

Are you ready for this?

If I don't get this, I will be...

It's literally a candle, how can I screw this up?

Okay, I'm going slowly

No, It's a candle, it's a candle

How do you not know that that's a candle?

IT'S A CANDLE

Oh my god, what did I just do?

*squawk*

YOU..PIECE OF...S#@T

It's a candle! How did it not guess the candle?

*phone ringing*

BREATHE, breathe.

Computers are amazing. I love them so much. They are not spawns of satan no matter how much I hate them right now.

Okay!

We're done today

So that was 'Quick, Draw!' and I've never been so frustrated at a game in my entire life.

Get Better At Art · The (very) Basic Strategy - Duration: 7:26.

So to get straight to the point, if you want to become a better artist you kind have to

suspend the idea that art is this purely emotion and inspiration-driven experience.

A lot of people might disagree with me on this and it's kind of a paradoxical statement

in itself, it's just the easiest way that I've found to put this into words, and basically

you can look at an artists as a machine; we take in inspiration and we put out a product,

our interpretation, whether that's a painting or a drawing whether it's for sale or just

for fun.

We've made a thing.

And what goes on in between, in the mechanism of the art machine, is a combination of elements

and components all working together in a balance for productivity and improvement and development.

So basically we need to reframe our point of view on things a little bit because maybe

you're watching this video because what you've been doing to improve so far hasn't been working.

And we need to take more of a clinical look at something that's usually seen as quite

visceral and quite spiritual.

The same way that a ballet dancer performs the art of movement and it's fluid and it's

organic but behind the scenes it's all repetition and pain and practice and maybe a little bit

of twirling around in their room for fun sometimes when no-ones watching.

Right so before I ramble on anymore; here's the formula.

These are the steps, this is the work you've gotta put in to get your art factories production

quality through the roof.

Right o the first step is to dedicate some time every day to creating art.

You've heard it before I know, but if you're still not doing it and you're still not seeing

improvement that you'd like to see then maybe it's time to start taking it a little bit

more seriously.

Commitment to this is key, so it should be as inevitable as the half hour that you spend

messing about on your phone before you go to bed.

Make it part of your routine.

So for me it's one of the first things I do in the morning after I get dressed.

For you, your trigger could be when you finish your dinner, it could be when you finish your

homework.

Just find something that you do everyday and slip that art practice in either before or

after it.

That's just the easiest way to anchor a new habit.

Okay but draw what, right?

Major key here is balance.

So we learn through doing and we learn through studying.

So you can draw and draw and draw, but if not studying your subject matter, you're always

gonna be limited to the things that you THINK you know and you can read all the books in

the world but if you're not applying that and implimenting it onto paper, it just doesn't

mean anything, it's not gonna stick.

Now a lot of the time when we sit down so purposefully, so intentionally and forcefully

to draw... you know; 'It's 5 o clock, time to draw something!' it just doesn't work like

that, we're just not inspired, and the art machine runs on the fuel of inspiration right,

but you have to extract that fuel in order to use it.

So if you find yourself staring at a blank but of paper, your inspiration fuel tanks

are empty, it's time to replenish them.

It's time to study.

So that could entail, watching Youtube tutorials, going to life-drawing classes, they have Youtube

life-drawing as well, you can enroll in an online class (if you're interested in Skillshare

I do still have a 99 cent coupon for that, I'll leave a link to the video where I talk

about that in the description), books I'd really recommend, I know for me it really

helps to have something more tangeable, something I can touch, it just makes more sense of things.

Study the masters, I talked about that quite recently as well.

Another key part of studying art is to draw from life, that's a really essential skill

to have, to be able to translate what's 3D in front of you into a 2D image.

I've actually written a blog post to accompany this video, I'll leave a link to it below,

but basically it breaks down all of those steps just in case I went to quickly, I've

got some really useful links in there as well to good YouTube channels that you can use

to learn, some book recommendations as well, just all that good stuff so don't forget to

check that out.

Right so that's the work side of things, now if you happen to sit down at your allotted

art time and you find yourself more inclined to play; your inspiration well is full and

you've got a ton of ideas or you jut wanna doodle; do that!

If you go to your sketchbook and you have this amazing idea for a drawing, do it, if

you wanna experiment with a new medium or just make a mess and have fun, go for it!You

have to take those moments of pure inspiration and run with them.

And make mistakes!

Don't ever let the fear of not being able to translate your ideas onto paper stop you

from trying.

In fact, it's almost better to make mistakes, it's better to get it wrong because then you

have something to work on next time.

That's the direction to your next study session in.

Create, create, create, then analyse and improve.

That's the cycle that's gonna get you moving forward.

So those are the two main components that go into strengthening the machine of good

art production.

Again the one thing that I need you to take away from this is that you must create are

as often as possible, if not every day.

If you wanna have fun and experiment and get ideas on to paper; go ahead, if you don't

have any ideas or you're lacking inspiration, get on with some studying and practice.

That's the skeleton of the structure.

Then there are always those extra bits you can throw in.

One of them in life experience.

I'm not gonna talk about that a lot cos you know I don't like to leave the house that

often, but yeah things like travel, culture, life, memories it all goes into creating a

more well-rounded outlook, a diversity of ideas.

So go out, or stay in, watch a good film, listen to good music, go to a gallery or take

up a hobby like photography or... pottery.

Next is engagement or community, you've gotta share!

You've got to get feedback, give feedback, talk, discuss, you can't exist in a bubble

because that will stunt your growth enormously.

If you don't have friends or a close circle that are creative or can offer you constructive

feedback then there are tons of ways that you can find that online.

You could set up and instagram account or Youtube account and share your art anonymously.

Again Skillshare, they didn't sponsor this video but there's a great community there

of like-minded people all trying to better themselves all submitting their work for review.

And then the last thing that I would suggest would be a project or challenge so for example

if you're not good at drawing feet, you could set yourself the challenge to draw a foot

every day for 30 days.

You can also do something, if you really wanna push yourself, something that's gonna take

a lot of skills and exploration of things wouldn't often explore so for example you

could write and illustrate a short story.

You could follow along with my 30 Ways to Fill a Sketchbook that would have you possibly

trying different materials and different styles.

If there's anything for you to take away from this video it's that the difference between

you and the artists you admire is not some genetic superiority it's not something they

were born with, it's not chance, it's a formula and it's very much attainable.

Like them you have all the parts to the great art machine, you just have to put in the work

to put those parts together.
