The Ingenious Ways Plants Defend Themselves - Duration: 2:57.

Just like flowers, we humans are also fully capable of producing Volatile Organic Compounds.

Hey there flowering buds, Jules here for DNews!

As you know, plants are usually anchored to the ground and can't go anywhere.

But somehow, despite their relative immobility, plants are actually surprisingly good at staying

alive and defending themselves.

A recent study in the journal Functional Ecology found that certain plants, when damaged, will

emit a chemical that wards off insects.

When neighboring plants sense the chemical, they too begin to excrete it, creating a little

smelly, defensive plant pocket.

The excretions are called "Volatile Organic Compounds" or VOCs.

Although you may think of the word volatile here as having a negative connotation, the

word actually means that the chemicals being secreted are able to quickly evaporate and

enter the air.

And plants use VOCs to fulfill a lot of functions.

Sweet smelling VOCs are used to attract pollinators, which is why some flowers give off a pleasant

scent.

Roses release volatile organic compounds like Rose Oxide, Damascenone and ionone, which

we associate with the smell of roses.

And when it comes to defense, plants have a few smelly tricks up their sleeve.

The VOC 3-pentanol, for example, is an insect pheromone, and can be produced by broccoli,

cabbage, and brussel sprouts.

When these plants become infested with very hungry caterpillars, they give off 3-pentanol,

which attracts several insects, including what is called, the "kissing bug", an

insect that sucks the blood of caterpillars.

Instead of having to fight their own battles, these plants simply summon swarms of bugs

to take over for them.

Those bugs get big juicy caterpillars to feast on, while the plants are left to recover and

rebuild, sparing any neighboring plants as well.

Wow, way to make others fight battles for you, PLANTS.

This natural defense system is also used by farmers to protect their crops.

Some pesticides are based on synthetically derived chemicals that are the same as or

mimic the chemicals produced by plants with strong defense systems.

But chemicals aren't the only way plants can fight back.

If you've ever reached for a rose and been stabbed by its thorns, you've stumbled onto

another defensive technique.

Many plants have thorns, spines, prickles, barbs, or any other name for hard, sharp,

protruding body parts.

Their primary purpose is to prevent herbivores from chowing down, as the spiky-defense mechanism

can hurt the predator, telling them to stay away and find food elsewhere.

So while plants may not have wings or legs or really any way to escape pests, they've

found ways to fight them with other defense mechanisms.

All they really want is to be left alone.

So that covers animals eating plants, but what about animal-eating plants?

Yeah, there are certain types of plants that can eat animals from insects to small rodents!

I know that sounds crazy right, find out more in this video right here.

And what is the most dangerous plant, in your opinion?

Let us know down below in the comments, and don't forget to like and subscribe for videos

of DNews everyday.

Big Sean: A Letter to my Younger Self - Duration: 2:42.

Hey, this is Big Sean, and I'm here to talk to

my 18-year-old self and to people who are

going through the same things my 18-year-old self

was going through.

It's not about how hard you work. It's

about how smart you work.

People are working 16-hour days, taking a bus, putting in

more work than a lot of billionaires

and still not coming out happy or

financially stable. You'll face this fear

in deciding to do music or to go to college

and get your bachelor's, your master's, just

like your mom, your grandma and

grandad that became teachers but you

will be a teacher yourself just in a

completely differently way, a way that you

know feels right.

Your mom will fight for you, but know it's

not easy for her, too. Everyone in the

family is going to be coming down on her

like, "How can you not let him go to

school?" It's going to be a huge

thing at first. It will upset the fam

but you will make the right choice

And make sure you show your mother the

love she deserves. Your parents will be

right when they tell you as a teenager

that you'll come across times when

you'll be judged for how you look, for

you being young and black, driving in a car.

They'll tell you you shouldn't wear your hat

a certain way or to the back. You'll

think they're crazy, but you'll see

things like Trayvon Martin, like Michael Brown

names you don't know yet but you'll come

to know too well in the future. The only

thing you can do to change anything is

to make yourself better send prayers.

Any act of violence, you know what I mean

you will look back and regret. It'll cross your

mind especially coming back from

Michigan State, when you pull into a gas

station and shouts of "Get out of here

you nigger."

It'll make you angry, but you'll realize

that even though you're on the same

planet you're living in completely

different worlds.

Also remember that one day your city

will need you. Flint up the road will need

you. They're going to need all the help they

can get. So give these people a hero to

look up to

a black one at that. One that the whole

city can be proud of.

Don't put energy into things you

can't change. The time you'll put into

tearing yourself apart over things you

know, "I don't want this person running

the country." "This mayor made a mistake."

This government, whatever the

case may be, you'll lose it. You'll lose energy.

What you can do is put that energy into

yourself and encourage everyone to do

the same

What's It Like Being Deaf In College? | ASL (Mostly) - Duration: 22:04.

[sound of pencil writing]

[Pokemon game sound]

Hello!

Today's video is about to be about mainstream colleges and universities.

People have asked me if I had the same experience I did in high school in college,

but I didn't go to college so I can't answer that.

So I asked my friends to make a video about their experiences.

There are a few stories to watch.

Please enjoy.

Hello, my name is Joseph Ausanio and, um, I'm a deaf

actor and screenwriter.

I remember when I went to RIT, I was a film student.

I remember I was fortunate to have great interpreters.

But that was not the case.

I remember when I had film professors who didn't know how to, um,

work with deaf students, and

I've experienced oppression from the other film students.

For example, they thought that um, not, not all but, uh, but a few thought, um, deaf people can't do anything.

Really.

I've had uh, students who ask me: really, film school, with us?

I would say, yeah.

Because film school was very competitive to get in,

so it made it sound like deaf people can't get into film school or something.

So, I remember I had film professors who would not caption,

who would not put on the closed captions for the films.

And so my professor couldn't turn on the captions, so, she called, um, the tech support to come over,

but they were like, oh we'll be there in 30 minutes.

So the teacher was like, you know what, forget it.

So she came over with that she said to my interpreter to say,

it's going to be 30 minutes when they come,

so I'm going to have to go ahead with the movie without the captions, so, sorry.

So, she turned to me, I'm sorry.

I was really upset because I had to watch my interpreter in the dark.

And I remember, that day, when my interpreter was really mad, so she was signing,

and I could not see any, any word that she was signing.

I was really upset because, like, really?

So, and also, uh,

I remember there were others students who were like, really mean to me because,

I remember I had to use my voice, because I chose to use my voice in the classes.

So I remember when there was a forum where the students would comment on the other students' works.

And, um, I was practicing my senior thesis, so we have a statement to share with the class.

So, I remember when I was talking about my senior project in front of the whole class,

and one student walked to me and said, if I were you,

I would have a sign language interpreter next to you, so that way you cannot afford to be misunderstood.

And that comment really hurt me because, you know, I've worked so hard on my speech,

my entire life, and I was really hurt by it.

I remember when, um, I would try to, you know, reach out to the hearing film students and say,

I would like to work with you, you know.

But it seems that uh, the hearing students are here and the deaf student is here.

So, there was a big divide between that and that was hard for me.

I didn't really have a great experience in film school, but I was hoping to learn,

you know, from my peers, but I didn't really get that.

So, I was able to sort of collaborate with the other deaf students,

but I wanted to, you know, work with the hearing students but,

they didn't seem like they wanted to, even though I tried to reach out to them and say,

I would like to work with you, you know, but,

they were like, oh no, we're, we're good, thank you.

Which was hard for me.

So, and also, I remember, uh…

There were, uh, there were, it was really wrong because, you know,

I wanted to, you know, just, you know, that.

And also, um, the accessibility services, I was fortunate to have good interpreters

and I requested for the same ones, you know, to interpret for all of my classes.

So that was great.

When I was younger, I, you know, I was from kindergarten to twelfth grade,

I was fortunate to have great interpreters and, you know, I was able to get the assistance that I needed.

But it was interesting that college, one proportion didn't know how to work with deaf students.

So, that was really different for me.

So, I was fascinated because I wanted to, you know, learn from the best because

my professors came from the film industry and they were hired to come to the school to teach us.

So that was, that was, I did not have the best experience in film school.

So, there's that.

Thank you so much for watching.

I'm (sign name) Rylyn, R-Y-L-Y-N.

I saw Rikki posted on her Facebook status that she was looking for

some people to share their experiences in mainstream schooling.

So, I want to share my experience with you all.

I had gone to post-secondary for 7 years.

My first 2 years studying was at a technology institute to receive a diploma in Digital Graphic Design.

Those two years were the most amazing experience and quite easy ride and I graduated with a good GPA.

Then I decided to continue with the studying to receive a bachelor degree (BA).

Those five years was a challenging and great journey.

I had wonderful accessibility that was provided by the university.

They had a partner with an interpreter agency that focused on interpreting in the education field.

Also, the university provided a note taker in every classes that I took.

It did help me a lot to have interpreters so I wouldn't miss what the professor was saying.

I never had any issues with professors for being Deaf.

On the first day of each semester, they were confused as to why there were two interpreters in the classroom.

And those were the great experiences but the reason why I mentioned that it was a challenging journey

is because I was the only Deaf student in my program.

I took a communication degree; the program was called Information Design that focused graphic design area.

I was isolated during those five years.

I did have some students that did some group projects, and stuff like that.

But, we never really built a friendship due to the language barriers.

It kinda sucked because I had to do things on my own.

It was kinda depressing because I had to survive through each classes being alone for 8 hours per 5 days.

I almost decided to quit school because I couldn't bear it anymore but

I was very close to completing my degree and endured it all through to the end.

I graduated with a bachelor degree in communication and got an amazing job in Toronto.

I am always grateful for the university and their great accessibility that

helped me survive through the university regardless of isolation.

I went to university at Rochester Institute of Technology, RIT for short.

Remember, I'm talking only about MY experience.

I'm not talking for other people, only my experience.

For accessibility, RIT has 120 full-time interpreters.

And they hire a lot more freelancers.

So accessibility in the classroom was never a problem, I never had to worry about it.

However, for tutors, or clubs… That was more difficult to get interpreters for.

Part of it is because of clubs tending to have meetings at night.

A lot of interpreters aren't available at night.

So… That was more of a struggle.

And you have to commit to going to all the meetings.

For example, if you don't go to a club meeting three times in a row,

they will cancel interpreters for the rest of the time.

Unless you attend often.

And even if you don't go, the interpreter still gets paid, so they kind of lose money that way.

You have to commit to going if you request an interpreter.

For tutors, it's also hard because sometimes tutors will have it right after class,

but you can't because of another class or the interpreter's not available after class.

With tutors, it's easier to have the same interpreter as you have from the class, which is not always possible.

Because… Scheduling conflicts.

Generally, interpreters aren't a problem for accessibility.

Bullying, I didn't experience any myself.

But I know some other people did.

It often happens in the classroom when the teacher, or other students,

don't understand the deaf student's needs, what they require for being in the class.

About teachers, they're not always fully accessible for deaf students.

I had one teacher myself, who refused to provide her PowerPoint slides to anyone in the class.

The problem with that was that I had to take notes by hand,

because she banned phones, laptops, they weren't allowed.

I had to take them by hand.

So I'm like okay, so you expect the deaf person to write notes, look at the PowerPoint,

AND look at the interpreter… all at the same time?

It's impossible.

Hearing people can write and listen at the same, kind of.

But they can't copy a PowerPoint, and listen, and write at the same time either.

I did argue with the teacher, trying to convince her to give the PowerPoints

for at least the deaf students because… [hands flailing]

But she refused.

So I had to go through the Accessibility office,

until I was finally able to get the PowerPoints directly from her, but she wasn't happy about it.

So, when teachers aren't fully accessible to students,

I have to go up them and educate them on what my needs are.

And understand this, I can't educate them on general needs for everyone.

The needs of deaf students are different.

MY needs may be different from that student's needs.

They may need more PowerPoints, need more notes from the teacher,

and I may only want the PowerPoint, that's it.

So when I talk with the teacher,

I have to be clear with them that I'm discussing my needs, that's it.

They need to go talk with the other students to make sure that they're meeting what their needs are too.

We don't all have the same needs.

I did struggle from time to time with RIT, because it's not a deaf university.

It's a "mainstream" university.

In my major, I was often the only deaf person in that class.

Because of that, I had almost no support network.

I had to get by myself, or try to talk with the teacher,

or try to talk with some students in that class but…

Generally, it was easier if I had another deaf student with me, because we could support each other.

That's a big part of why I changed majors halfway through, because my old major had NO support.

Now, it's better, yes, because I stood up and said this is a problem,

you need to fix this for future students.

But I can't continue with this right now, so I changed majors.

After changing majors, I still had the occasional class that I was the only deaf person in that class,

but it was a big improvement, having some other deaf students supporting me in that class.

Overall, my personal experience at RIT was good, yes.

The accessibility was good.

The problems were minimal, kind of easily fixed, or I can figure out how to approach the problem.

I know this is not the same for everyone who went to RIT.

Some oral [deaf] students need different accessibility,

they need a voice interpreter, not a sign interpreter.

That is one problem that they're still trying to solve with RIT.

And there are still some teachers who don't understand how to be fully accessible to everyone in their class.

But yes, overall it was a good experience.

Hi. I'm Stacy Abrams.

I graduated from Gallaudet University as an undergraduate.

For graduate school, I went to a "hearing" university.

To get in their MA/PhD program, I had to take the GRE, and filled out a lot of applications.

After I was accepted, I was very excited.

After my first class, I submitted an assignment.

My professor called me for a meeting in his office.

We sat down. There was an interpreter present.

After reviewing my paper, he said to me, "You write better than I expected."

I was baffled, and I told him,

"I am not sure if that was a compliment, or an insult. I write better than you expected. What does that mean?"

The professor then caught himself, and said,

"Well, you know deaf students tend to have lower reading/writing levels."

I then replied, "That's not true."

"If deaf children have the foundation of language, have great family support,"

"and experience, then the deaf student will thrive."

"How did you think I get in graduate school? Did someone fill out my application?"

"No, and I did not appreciate your comments."

The teacher then apologized repeatedly.

I let him know that I forgave but I would not forget.

After that moment, I started to wonder what the other teachers thought of me.

There was no other deaf graduate student in the entire university.

Although, there were a few deaf undergraduate students.

I believe that I was the only culturally Deaf student, and that meant that I grew up only signing.

I did not have any amplification, and I do not talk at all.

After that conversation with that professor, I thought a lot about it,

and I decided to write a memo to all the professors.

In the memo, I explained how to use an interpreter the right way,

how to use eye gaze with me, talking to me directly,

and acknowledged that it was probably a new experience for most of the professors.

They probably had never had a deaf student before, and

it was also a new experience for me in terms of attending an "all hearing" school.

After I sent the memo out, I realized that it really helped.

Even though my graduate program was Special Education,

professors still had no clue in how to work with a deaf student,

who was a "typical" developing student who was at par with other students.

That experience stayed with me forever.

I realized that it did not matter, if the university was a well known university,

and the professors were all PhDs, they may have no clue in what deaf really meant.

The term deaf may be clumped in "Special Education", but it was really a different bag.

After that experience, I was no longer native.

That experience stayed with me always.

Anyone could "not know" about dealing with deaf students.

I either want or not want, it is still my job to educate them.

My professors may teach me about Special Education, school, about becoming a teacher,

working with families with children with "disabilities",

but I am equally teaching them, even though I may not have asked for it.

I hope that after that experience 17 years ago, my professors have learned how to work

with deaf students better after me based on their experiences with me in their graduate school program.

I grew up at a residential school where there was equal access to communication and language.

Some teachers may have low expectations of deaf students.

However, I have already proved myself to be capable,

I was in the MA/PhD program, or so I thought I did.

The professors still had some doubts in my ability to get in graduate school just because I am deaf.

So I have always tried to expand things further, or check in more frequently to make sure the professors/people

were on par with me because maybe they did not really know and didn't want to tell me.

The experience was very humbling, and I came up with a solution and sent out the memo.

I did my part. However, that sort of put a new pressure on me.

I felt that if I quit, the professors would say,

"That's right. Deaf people cannot succeed in graduate programs because it is "too hard",

or "too overwhelming" that the deaf people cannot deal with the hearing world & the hearing community.

Ironically, that was my inner motivation.

It helped make me determined to do my best, and I stayed throughout the Master's program,

and I am still working on finishing up my PhD.

I think I taught them as much as they taught me, maybe more, just because I was deaf.

Alright, hopefully, you learned something today.

I know I learned a lot.

Huge thank you to everyone for making a video for this.

Dealing with Discord: Dixie Vogel, A Fool's Journey - Duration: 2:43.

A lot of people are really wound up and tense and...right now.

Okay, there's a lot of itchy energy.

And one thing that I would like to suggest to everybody for this time period, however

long it happens to be in effect for you is that, whenever you can, do your best to assume

the best about your fellow human beings.

Even if have no idea where they get those crazy ideas they have.

Because that's one of those things where if you're wrong, and if your fellow human beings

have ugly or ulterior motives and they're evil people and they're not kind and they're

not whatever...if they're wrong!

In every sense of the word.

You assuming that they probably mean well and that they are doing their best to act

on their believe system and live in a way that makes sense to them is not gonna hurt

anything.

Even if you're wrong.

And it's gonna help.

In that it's gonna make it easier for you to function in the world amongst a lot of

people who you don't necessarily agree with.

The fact of the matter is, most people mean well.

Even if the way that they go about expressing that is pretty much incomprehensible to you.

Most people have good intentions.

So when you're gonna make an assumption, start on that side of the assumption.

Okay.

I think it's pretty easy for us to do this for certain groups but not for others.

But regardless, if you can just expect good from people, and when they make decisions

or say things that don't resonate with you at all, if you can go ahead and assume that,

even though you don't personally understand it, and it doesn't conform to your way of

thinking, that whoever said this or whoever's doing this probably means well, you're gonna

have a happier life.

It's gonna be easier to interact with people.

And there's a whole lot less drama and angst.

Which, for me is a really good thing!

So, a thought, a suggestion.

I hope it's helpful to you.

If not, okay.

But if so...maybe it will help! Yay!

Take care.

Peace out from the Goddess.

Bye bye.

How to test the graphics card and processor! - Duration: 4:05.

Hello.

Are you Comp Help channel.

And today we will talk with you how to test

performance of your CPU and GPU,

and after testing compare the results of their

with results of other tests processors and graphics cards.

To conduct such a test It helps us free

CINEBENCH program.

It is cross-platform program for the evaluation work

computer performance.

CINEBENCH is based on marked Program awards for

animation MAXON Cinema 4D, which widely used for

worldwide studios for the creation of three-dimensional content.

And so when you want to Testing then proceed

the link in the description and fall on the program website.

Then load the program For your operating

system.

For Windows weighs 82 megabytes.

After downloading open program archive and unpack

where convenient.

Then close all program which can

consume CPU resources or video card in order

so that the test result was accurate and run the program.

And as we can see, I have already spent testing.

And since my processor It is not a new result

here is a modest 140 balls.

The result is a little video better.

And so to conduct testing CPU will we need

click on the button next to RUN CPU.

Press and begins the process of testing, depending

matter how powerful your processor will depend

speed testing.

As you can see I have a 2 x nuclear 2-line processor, respectively,

I have 2 dice, the number of cubes depends on

how many threads your processor.

We wait until the end of skanirovaniya.I We compare the results

with other processors which are in the list.

My result was worse because I spend more

screen recording, and it is taken away CPU resources in the

test time.

Now, after the processor also test the performance

card.

It will also push RUN but near the inscription

OpenGL.

After starting the test.

Will load a little cool the scene in which the race will

two cars, wait until end.

And then show us video test result.

That testing is over.

Result FPS Previously, when I tested without recording

video screen was 42 FPS.

So it is better to test as I said earlier to close

all programs that may make it inaccurate.

And what the result was you?

Share in the comments.

And I have that's all.

Thank you all for watching.

Bulgaria Digs In At Doiran - The Final Blow Against The Senussi I THE GREAT WAR Week 133 - Duration: 10:19.

The war has grown larger and larger and ever more countries have joined the fight, and

this week, one neutral nation takes one big step closer to war.

This week, the United States breaks off diplomatic relations with Germany.

I'm Indy Neidell; welcome to the Great War.

Last week Germany declared unrestricted submarine warfare, where any ship in the war zone is

subject to being sunk on sight without warning.

There was scattered small action on all the European fronts, and more political turmoil

in Russia as the Foreign Minister resigned.

Let's jump right in with the big news of the week.

On February 3rd, 1917, the United States severed diplomatic relations with Germany and their

respective ambassadors were recalled.

This was an inevitable consequence of Germany reintroducing unlimited submarine warfare,

which violated the agreement reached after the sinking of the Sussex in 1915.

Now, no shipping in the war zone is safe from sudden death.

American President Woodrow Wilson told congress that if American lives were taken, he would

ask for the means to protect them.

He also encouraged other neutrals to break off diplomatic ties with Germany.

Most didn't, though Brazil, China, Chile, and Argentina sent notes to Germany that they

would follow suit if threats to their shipping were carried out.

Still, the first American ship sunk after the proclamation of the 1st was the freighter

Housatonic on the 3rd.

Before sinking the ship, the submarine crew gave warning, allowed the Housatonic's crew

to man the boats, and then towed them 150km toward land.

A British patrol vessel appeared and the sub fired a signal to get its attention before

disappearing beneath the waves.

Under the new rules, though, the Housatonic should have been sunk without warning.

This might seem promising, but it turned out to be an act of grace extended toward a neutral

ship that left its homeport before unrestricted warfare went into effect.

It was not repeated.

The British ship Eavestone was sunk and its crew was shelled by the sub as they took to

the boats.

The captain and three seamen, one an American, were killed.

Something that really was a flagrant violation of the Sussex agreement was the torpedoing

of the Anchor Liner "California" off the Irish coast with 230 people aboard, including

some Americans.

There were no American casualties among the 41 victims, but attacks on passenger liners

without warning, regardless of the menace to American lives, were the centerpiece of

the crisis between Germany and America.

The California sank in 9 minutes and no effort was made to save the victims.

This "overt act", the specific kind of overt act that Wilson said he was waiting

for before any open enmity broke out, brought the breaking point nearer.

The Japanese Prince and the Mantola were sunk without warning, and though they were British

steamers, there were 30 American cattlemen on the Japanese Prince, who were all rescued,

and an American doctor on the Mantola, who also survived.

These acts were acts of war and were reasons enough to declare war, but for now Germany's

single offenses were being overlooked.

But what will the cumulative effect be?

This was something that was just beginning, but something else was just finishing this

week.

On the Libyan front, perhaps the most forgotten front of the war.

Ottoman backed Senussi tribesmen had harassed the British forces in Egypt for over a year,

but this week a British expedition set out from Egypt to break the power of Said Ahmed,

Senussi leader, and it came to a head at the Siwa Oasis.

After an all day battle the Senussi were defeated.

They evacuataed by night and headed for Shiyata, but British cavalry cut off their retreat

by taking the Munasib Pass and forcing the tribesmen to disperse south into the waterless

desert.

The Senussi power in the Western Desert was now completely broken.

But the British were having problems on another front that was just gearing up after winter,

the Macedonian front.

Now, east of Lake Doiran the Bulgarian 9th "Pleven" Infantry Division had taken up

defensive positions a couple of months ago.

They were led by Major-General Stefan Nerezov and Colonel Vladimir Vazov, who would soon

be promoted to general and take command there.

What Vazov, and indeed most of Bulgarian High Command, wanted was an all-out offensive toward

Salonika that would drive the Allies out of Greece and close that front.

The German High Command did not agree with this.

They argued that this front needed to be kept open to divert troops from the Western Front.

This was understandable since the Allies were currently sending and would continue to send

hundreds of thousands of men to Salonika.

So since there would be no huge offensive, Vazov decided to dig in and dig in properly.

He requested that Germany supply building materials like concrete and this the Germans

were happy to do.

What Vazov's men constructed over the winter and spring was perhaps the most impressive

defensive lines of the whole war.

They included two new main positions with two rows of continuous trenches, those trenches

being up to 2 meters deep and linked with communications passages.

In front of these was a two-lined system of barbed wire.

Behind them were concrete galleries that could be used as fire positions for artillery or

ammunitions platforms.

In front of the main position there were smaller fortifications, while secondary positions

were 2-5 km to the rear.

The advance positions were called Zemlyaks, and were little hills connected by a single

trench.

They were lightly manned but filled with machine guns.

Their purpose was to halt an attacker's forward momentum and force him to get down

long before he could reach the first trench line, and leaving him vulnerable.

Vazov also ordered concrete bunkers built, some as deep as 17 meters underground.

These were large enough to hold the entire 9th Division's 34,000 men.

The total amount of trenches was dozens of kilometers long and Bulgarian historians say

that it's larger than the amount of digging done for the Sofia Metro 90 years later.

Vazov also set up farming communities behind the lines.

They were fairly far back but were looked after by the soldiers to bring in crops and

livestock.

This was because the supply system was so shaky, and having a nearby source of fresh

food did wonders for the soldiers' morale.

The British had no idea about all of this until this week on February 9th when they

attempted to storm Bulgarian positions.

They did have small initial success, but the counter attacked completely repulsed them.

It also left them thinking about just what they would have to do to break the Bulgarian

defenses.

Interesting to see defenses on relatively new fronts being built up to match those of

the long stalemate on the Western Front, where small attacks continued this week.

On the 3rd, East of Beaucourt and North of the River Ancre, the British advanced 500m

in a front over a kilometer wide, taking 100 prisoners.

The next day in same region the British took 500m of trenches and 100 more prisoners

On the Italian front there were similar skirmishes.

On the 6th there was intense artillery fighting in the Astico Valley.

In the Sagana Valley an Austrian detachment trying to take Italian positions on Monte

Maso was routed, leaving their guns and ammo on the ground as they fled.

The following day in that valley, the Austrians tried again on the right back of the Brenta,

but Italian infantry and field batteries were too much for them, while on the 9th, east

of Gorizia the Austrians attack Italian positions, 1000 Italian prisoners were taken.

And here are a couple of notes to end the week.

On the 4th, Mehmed Talaat Pasha became new Ottoman Grand Vizier when Said Halim resigned

for health reasons.

This is roughly equivalent to Prime Minister.

Talaat had served as Minister of the Interior and Minister of Finance and is one of "the

three pashas" that pretty much ran the Ottoman Empire during the war.

It was he who ordered the arrest and deportation of Armenian intellectuals in Constantinople

in April 1915 that is usually seen as the "official" beginning of the Armenian Genocide.

Also this week, on February 3rd, the first Portuguese contingent of soldiers arrived

in France.

The Portuguese Expeditionary force was 50,000 strong and ready for trench warfare.

And that was the week.

The Senussi tribesmen broken in North Africa, the British running up against unexpectedly

strong Bulgarian fortifications in Macedonia, some small skirmishing in Italy and the West,

and a new Ottoman Prime Minister.

And the US breaking off diplomatic relations with Germany.

And Germany sinking vessels with neutral American civilians aboard.

So what would follow?

It seems there are three choices for the United States: do nothing and let your people be

killed, which was unacceptable, stop shipping, stop trade - including the lucrative trade

with the Entente powers - and limit the rights of your people to travel the seas, which was

what much of Congress considered, but Wilson rejected, which was also unacceptable, or

go to war and fight back.

So starting this week, it looks like the war is going to get even larger and even bloodier.

Madness.

Ken Tamplin - How To Sing Donny Hathaway - I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know - Duration: 13:29.

Hey guys!

Welcome back again to Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy where the proof really is in the singing.

Why do I always say that?

Well, I say that especially now, because there's some pretty aggressive vocal coaches out there

that are just doing some crazy bashing stuff, and the irony of it is they're still not

singing!

They might sing a blues line or two, or a little lick here and there, but they're

not singing any songs, or length of any songs, and they're certainly not doing what Ken

Tamplin Vocal Academy has done, which is like 400 songs with dozens of students demonstrating

different styles.

So, I chose to sing today, and I'm choosing Donnie Hathaway.

The song is called I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know.

We'll do it first like we always do, we'll talk about it after.

Donnie Hathaway. I love you more than you'll ever know. Let's rock.

Okay... Now... What's really, really cool…

Donnie has just been kind of an unsung hero.

Now, he's really well-known in, by the way, if you like what you heard, please like and

subscribe to my channel, that would be awesome.

And I have a singing course called How To Sing Better Than Anyone Else, and I negotiate

all of these little nooks and crannies of all this stuff in here.

Now Donnie, in fact, you probably remember that Amy Winehouse song, Rehab, where she

calls him Mr. Hathaway.

So there are certain people that have been influenced by him, but the mainstream pop

culture really hasn't, but the Blues/R&B guys have.

He's one of the smoothest, if you get a chance, just go back and listen to some of

his stuff, and some of his live stuff too, just awesome!

But what I love about him is that he kind of leans into the sound a bit.

He's not real wimpy on the sound like a lot of R&B guys…

They don't really kind of push in the sound that much, especially newer R and B guys.

And so my commendation to you guys is we're building a runners body, so: "If I ever

leave you babay… well you can say I told you so…"

So he has these real cool ebb and flows…

You know: "If I ever hurt you.

You know I hurt myself as well…"

So he goes in and out of like, a lot of cool space, and he doesn't really overdo it,

but his tone is just spot-on the money, so, and his pitch is spot-on the money, too, so,

anyway guys, I want to thank you guys for joining me, Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy.

We have more coming on your way, where the PROOF really is in the singing!

Thank you for joining me.

Oh!

By the way, before I forget, I'm going to post the raw, naked vocal version, solo vocal

version of this so you can hear my vowel placements on how I got to this place here so you can

really critique it and evaluate it in your own. Alright?

Thanks guys! Talk soon! Peace. Out.

I Surrender - Salma (#3 Juara) - Duration: 3:49.

There's so much life I've left to live

And this fire is burning still

When I watch you look at me I think I could find the will

To stand for every dream And forsake this solid ground

And give up this fear within Of what would happen if they ever knew

I'm in love with you

'Cause I'd surrender everything To feel the chance to live again

I reach to you I know you can feel it too

We'd make it through A thousand dreams I still believe

I'd make you give them all to me I'd hold you in my arms and never let go

I surrender

Right now, there's no better time From this fear I will break free

And I'll live again with love And no they can't take that away from me

And they will see...

Hey.. hey...

I'd hold you in my arms and never let go

I surrender

Every night's getting longer And this fire is getting stronger, baby

I'll swallow my pride and I'll be alive Can't you hear my call

I surrender all

I reach to you I know you can feel it too

We'll make it through A thousand dreams I still believe

I'll make you give them all to me I'll hold you in my arms and never let go

I surrender

Right here, right now I give my life to live again

I surrender

Sugarpill Feline Fancy Tutorial + Review + Swatches | Vegan Beauty @phyrra - Duration: 5:37.

Hey guys, welcome back.

Today I've got a mostly one brand tutorial plus mini review on the Sugarpill Feline Fancy

set.

The Feline Fancy set is the Sugarpill Valentine Day's release, which has this adorable little

cat on the front and it has this palette of four colors.

In the video I will swatch them for you and show you what they look like.

It also has this awesome lipstick, which I absolutely love.

Anyway, if you want to see how to get this look, just keep on watching.

I've already applied Beauty Bakerie Pancake as my eyeshadow primer.

It basically evens out the skin tone and everything and gives me like a nice base to work with.

I'm going to use the Real Techniques Base Eyeshadow brush with Text Me to create a transition

color on the hood of my eye.

I'm going to basically create a V at the inner and outer corner with Bulletproof & the UD

Brow brush.

I'm going to use the Sigma E21 with Castle on the Hill.

I'm going to use the Real Techniques Shading brush with S.W.A.K.

I'm going to use the Sigma E30 Pencil brush with Kiss Kiss.

I'm going to use the Real Techniques Accent brush with Wink and I'm going to spritz a

little bit of UD All Nighter on top of it.

I'm going to go back with the Real Techniques Shading brush and S.W.A.K. and I'm going to

now use that one damp as well with UD All Nighter.

I'm putting it the same place that I put the pink originally.

I'm basically just doing this to amp up the vibrancy.

I'm going back with the Real Techniques Accent brush in Wink.

I'm just hitting those edges.

I'm going back with Text Me on the Real Techniques Base brush and blending here at the top.

I'm going to use the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner to line the upper lash line.

I'm going to put on mascara.

I'm going to line the lower waterline with Nyx Faux White Pencil in Seashell.

Using my Color Pop Jet Set Black Brow pencil.

I feel like my face can only take so much trauma for one night.

I don't know if you can see it, but it's like really red now that I just took off that foundation

that didn't work for me.

I'm going to put on the Idun Minerals Norrsken foundation in Jorunn.

I'm going to try the Wet n' Wild blush in Rose Champagne.

I'm going to line my lips with Urban Decay's Hex pencil, which is like a red wine.

I'm going to put on Strange Love.

This is the color I really bought the whole Feline Fancy set for.

I'm going to highlight my face with Makeup Geek Celestial.

I'm going to use the Makeup Geek Foiled eyeshadow brush with Tako and basically just kind of

carve out underneath my eyebrows.

I'm using the Sigma E25 to just blend here at the inner lid and then I'm just sort of

blending all over very softly.

I'm going to highlight at the inner corner with Makeup Geek Celestial.

I think I'm going to add a little bit of Celestial just to the center of the lips.

Still not going to make love to the camera for you, just not going to happen.

Now I'm going to run through swatches with the Feline Fancy palette, which I absolutely

adore, it's limited edition.

The palette is tiny, it has two mirrors.

Well it really has one mirror, but it's like in a little heart shape and it's just super

cute and adorable.

You can see the four shades here.

This is Wink and it's like a champagne with like a pink tone or a pink shift.

This is S.W.A.K. and it's basically like a pink with an orange undertone.

I think it's really, really pretty.

This is Kiss Kiss.

It's a metallic red.

There's Text Me, which is a soft brown matte and I feel like it almost has like a pink

undertone to it.

Of course we have Strange Love, which is like a deep burgundy red.

I love this color, this is really the reason I bought the set.

I think it's absolutely beautiful.

This is my finished look with the set.

I hope you really like this tutorial.

I definitely think that if you like these colors, you'll love this palette.

I've done two looks with it now and I really love it.

I feel like the colors are very easy to work with and I just couldn't believe like how

easy that brown shade Text Me blends out to be a transition color, so it's really fabulous,

especially if you have pale skin like mine.

What do you think of the Sugarpill Feline Fancy set?

What do you think of this tutorial?

Please be sure to let me know in the comments below.

StarCraft Storyline In 3 Minutes! | Video Games in 3 @ArcadeCloud - Duration: 3:24.

This is the Starcraft chronology in three minutes.

Let's begin.

A really, really long time ago,

a species called the Xel'naga searched

the universe for species to manipulate

into a perfect life form.

First, the Xel'naga found the Protas, an elegant

and psychic race, telepathically connected.

Their attempts to transform them worked,

but broke the psychic link between the Protoss.

Many went mad.

So the Xel'naga rejected them and found a different species,

the Zerg, an ultra-organic species that transcended

through the stars through biological evolution alone.

The Xel'naga created the Overmind,

the central point of all thought

and sentience for all Zerg, a hivemind.

The Overmind discovers the Xel'naga, breeds a Zerg swarm,

and eradicates a large amount of the Xel'naga species.

The Protoss discover abandoned Xel'naga technology

and use it to repair the psychic link,

restoring them to normal.

They adapt the technology further to help them

rebuild their societies.

On Earth, a group of humans, the Terrans,

are sent to colonize planets throughout the galaxy.

They form the Terran Confederacy.

Arcturus Mengsk, a Marine, starts a rebellion to rule

the Terran world himself, claiming it's for noble causes.

The Zerg finds the Protoss and seek to forcibly

assimilate them into the Zerg hivemind to create

the perfect species.

While the Protoss make it their mission to purge the Zerg,

the Terrans get caught in the middle of the conflict

when their colonies spread to Protoss space.

The Zerg infest human planet colonies.

The Protoss, to prevent the spreading of Zerg,

eradicates an entire human planet.

The humans try to protect themselves from the wrath

of the Protas while combating the spreading Zerg swarm.

Instead of wiping out the Zerg completely,

the Terrans try to study and use the Zerg as a weapon.

Marshall Jim Raynor disobeys orders

and destroys a Zerg infestation that the

Terrans had been using for study.

Raynor joins Mengsk and his rebellion.

Mengsk lures the Zerg to confederate settlements to

attack its political enemies indirectly.

Kerrigan, a telepathic human, protects the Zerg

from being completely destroyed by the Protas

so they could continue to attack their own humans

allied with the confederacy.

However, when the Zerg begins its invasion, Mengsk

leaves Kerrigan behind, and the Zerg capture her.

Raynor abandons Mengsk because he betrayed Kerrigan.

Mengsk wins and initiates the Terran dominion as emperor.

The Zerg turn Kerrigan into a human-Zerg hybrid

in order to utilize her psychic powers.

In response, Raynor and two Protoss named Zeratul

and Tassadar work together to fight the Zerg swarm.

Tassadar sacrifices himself to destroy the Overmind.

The Overmind's death frees Kerrigan from control.

She gains control over half of the Zerg,

while a new Overmind takes the other half.

This sparks the Brood War.

Kerrigan manipulates Protoss and Terran forces

to help her destroy the new Overmind,

giving her full control of the entire Zerg swarm.

Carrigan goes into hiding for four years

while Raynor continues his campaign against Mengsk.

Along the way, Raynor discovers a Xel'naga

artifact he believes can return Kerrigan human.

Raynor attacks Kerrigan, uses the artifact,

turning Kerrigan human again.

Mengsk and his forces swoop in and capture Raynor.

Kerrigan transforms into a Zerg again,

takes control of a vast Zerg swarm, and rescues Raynor.

Raynor and Kerrigan invade the dominion and kill Mengsk.

Meanwhile, Zeratul learns of an evil Xel'naga named

Amon, prophesized to bring doom upon the world.

Zeratul dies during his investigation.

And the responsibility passes to Artanis,

commander of the Protas golden armada.

Artanis, Raynor, and Kerrigan combine forces to face Amon.

Amongst the conflict, they meet a Xel'naga named Oros.

Carrigan merges with Oros' essence,

ascending her to a Xel'naga,

thus making her powerful enough to defeat Amon.

Terran, Zerg, and Protoss reside in peace and prosperity.

How to take care of your voice for singing - Vocal hygiene - Duration: 2:55.

Welcome to your singing lessons

My name is Eilish San and today we will see

how to take care of our voice so that it lasts many years

Breathe whenever you can by the nose as the hair heats the air

and filters the dirt of the environment

Remember that we do not breathe like this when we sing,

this is for your day to day,

especially when it is very cold

Maintain proper oral hygiene,

brushing your teeth after every meal

not only prevents cavities,

but also against infections

Drink lots of water, this point is very important,

we need to be well hydrated to be able to sing

Our vocal cords are covered by a membrane

that protects them from impacts when closed,

if they are not well hydrated they will not be able to do their job well

Keep a healthy diet, this includes eating everything

For me, as a nutritionist,

we should not miss anything in our diet

We need fats, protein, carbohydrates

minerals, vitamins and fiber

not just to sing but to be healthy

Before singing you should avoid those foods

that cause you heartburn or phlegm

I have seen many diets for singers,

but I think the best advice is to eat

in a healthy way and do not deprive yourself of anything,

and drink lots of water

You have to try and see what foods are the ones

that feel good to you and those that feel bad,

those that give you heartburn, for example

hot spicy is discouraged to sing,

but it does not affect me at all,

however green beans

gives me a lot of heartburn

If you're going to sing, avoid foods

that are too acidic or that cause you to reflux

Sleep between seven and eight hours,

our body and our brain need to rest

to be more agile

Do physical activity, this helps us to be in shape,

to have more endurance and to have a greater coordination

in our breathing

It also helps us to eliminate stress and to be much happier.

Warm up your voice daily, it helps to wake up your muscles,

to keep them in shape, toned

and to maintain your register and technique

What habits should we avoid?

Smoking burns the vocal cords, produces bronchial secretions,

is harmful to our health

and also causes very serious diseases

Not only in the vocal cords, such as Reinke's Edema,

it also produces lung cancer,

decreases oxygen in blood and causes death

Drinking alcohol dehydrates the vocal cords and is irritating

Yelling is one of the most common causes

of our voice being damaged

Whispering is as bad as yelling,

it creates constrictions and causes our strings to rub

and become irritated

Flushing also causes them to rub and become inflamed

Be careful if you sing when you are sick in your throat,

it will be weak and irritated and you could hurt yourself

Control your anger, when we get angry

we tighten our larynx a lot

and we also speak loud or shout

Do not spend hours and hours talking or singing until you lose your voice,

let it rest from time to time

And remember, if it hurts or you feel discomfort,

you're doing something wrong

Take care of your voice and enjoy it for many years

I hope that you like this video, that you find it useful and I'll see you in the next video

Barcelona Oculoplastics 2017 - Duration: 2:12.

We are looking forward to seeing you in the new edition of the BOC,

which will be held at the IMO on 31 March and 1 April

and where we will once again meet with the best specialists in oculoplastics and oculofacial aesthetics.

We will welcome some thirty speakers of great national and international renown

who will offer us their experience during live surgery sessions, presentations and workshops.

We will start with seven complex cases of live surgery performed by different surgeons

We will see the surgical details each one of them uses, as some of the techniques are highly innovative.

Moreover, we will show the evolution of patients who have undergone surgery in previous editions of the BOC

We will see them before and after blepharoplasty, a midfacial facelift, an eyelid ptosis surgery ...

Ptosis surgery is probably the most representative of our specialty and also one of the most difficult techniques.

We will boast the best symposium: what is new and old in ptosis surgery,

led by the person who has taught us most things about this pathology, Dr Richard Collin, from London.

Furthermore, we will hold two workshops on oculofacial rejuvenation with actual patients.

On Friday, we will carry out new non-invasive treatments,

whereas, on Saturday, we will learn how to proceed with facial remodelling using injectable products.

This will be an excellent opportunity to share the latest developments.

We trust that the conference will be of great interest to both resident physicians and experts in this field.

We have worked hard to offer a programme that exceeds by far its previous editions.

We hope we have succeeded in that.

If you like eyelid surgery, you will not want to miss this year's Barcelona Oculoplastics Meeting

11 people who were affected by the Muslim ban | Riley J. Dennis - Duration: 8:06.

Hameed Khalid Darweesh is a 53-year-old Iraqi man with a wife and three kids.

From 2003 to 2013, he worked as an engineer and interpreter for the United States Government.

This kind of work put him and his family in danger because of anti-American militias in the area.

Fearing for their lives, Darweesh and his family were forced to move to a different city in Iraq twice.

In 2014 he applied for Special Immigrant Visas for himself and his family.

After over two years of intense vetting, interviews, and screenings, he and his family were approved.

They got on a flight as soon they could, but when they landed at JFK, they were detained

because of Trump's executive order.

Mr. Darweesh's family was eventually released, but CBP kept him detained for over 19 hours

and didn't let him speak with his attorneys.

The ACLU filed a lawsuit against the federal government on his behalf, and he was eventually

released thanks to the court order issued by Federal Judge Ann M. Donnelly.

Ali Khoshbakhti Vayeghan is an Iranian whose son is a US citizen who works as a nurse in Indiana.

Mr. Vayeghan's wife had successfully moved to the US a few months earlier on a valid

visa, but when he tried to do the same thing, he was detained.

His brother, Hossein, arrived at the airport to pick him up and was in tears when he realized

what was happening to his brother.

But we are people, we are not the government.

We are not doing nothing.

If the government does something wrong with this government, we are not responsible.

I'm American and Iranian.

What I can do?

Why I have to be punished for somebody else's problem?

I don't know what I have to do.

We ran away from Iran to this country

[because] they do something like this,

but we didn't know we're gonna have the same situation here.

I'm a US Citizen for about 15, 20 years.

And my brother didn't do nothing wrong in no place in the world.

And I didn't do nothing wrong.

Judge Donnelly's court order came too late for Mr. Vayeghan; he had already been put

on a plane back to Dubai, where he had flown out from.

Four days later, he managed to get on a flight back to the US thanks to a decision by U.S.

District Judge Dolly Gee and the hard work of the ACLU.

Fuad Sharef Suelman is an Iraqi who worked for the US Government as a translator and program manager.

He and his wife and three kids went through two years of intense vetting to get their

visas, and his work with the US government put their lives at risk.

They sold all of their belongings, the kids were taken out of school, and they boarded their flight.

They had a layover in Cairo, and that point, they were told they couldn't board the plane to the US.

I'm not going illegally. I'm a legal immigrant. This is the point.

And for me, personally, I have prepared for this journey, for this immigration, for two years.

I sold my house, I sold my properties.

The most annoying thing, that I feel guilty,

My kids left school!

After a week in limbo, staying at a friend's house, they got on a flight back to the US

as soon as Federal Judge James Robart suspended the ban, and thankfully, they've now made it here safely.

Tareq Aqel Mohammed Aziz and Ammar Aziz are two brothers from Yemen who boarded a flight

to the US before the executive order was signed.

They had legal immigration visas, meaning they were green card holders.

When they landed, they were told that their visas had been cancelled and that they had

to sign a paper or they would be barred from entering the US for 5 years.

They were not allowed to speak to their father, a US citizen living in Michigan, or their lawyer.

They were sent to Ethiopia where their passports were confiscated, and they can't return

to Yemen because of the war going on there.

They're still stuck in Ethiopia.

These people who had legal green cards were deported and still can't come back.

An unnamed 5-year-old was detained at Dulles airport for hours, handcuffed, and not allowed

to see his mom who was waiting for him to arrive.

There aren't a lot of details about this case because the mother didn't want to talk

to reporters, but a 5-year-old was detained.

Sean Spicer later defended this by saying that anyone of any gender or age could be a threat.

But really, a scared little 5-year-old who just wants to see his mom?

Really?

Nazanin Zinouri has lived and worked in the US for the last 7 years.

She had received a PhD in industrial engineering from Clemson University and worked at a tech

company called Modjoul for the last 6 months.

She was visiting family in Iran when she heard about the executive order and tried to come

home to the US.

She wasn't allowed to board her flight because of the executive order.

For a while, she worried about what would happen to her home, her car, and her dog,

but when Judge Robart suspended the ban, she was able to get on a flight back to the US

nearly a week later.

Hamaseh Tayari is a veterinarian who lives in Scotland, but she grew up in Italy after

her family left Iran when she was only two years old.

She still has an Iranian passport, though, and when she was trying to return to the UK

from Costa Rica, she was supposed to have a layover in New York, and she had the appropriate transit visa.

However, because of the executive order, she was unable to board her flight.

A GoFundMe was set up to help her book another flight that didn't go through the US, and

it raised a few thousand dollars pretty quickly.

Shahin Hassanpour is a 70-year-old Iranian woman who boarded a flight to the US on Friday

before the executive order was signed.

She had been approved for an immigration visa, meaning she was a green card holder.

She landed on Saturday morning and was detained for over 30 hours.

She was told that she would be deported, but thanks to the court order issued on Saturday

night, she was eventually released on Sunday afternoon.

Her son was waiting for her the entire time at the Dallas Forth Worth airport.

Samira Asgari is an Iranian citizen who completed a doctorate in Switzerland and was coming

to the US to start a post doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School.

However, she wasn't allowed to board her flight to the US because of the executive order.

She had quit her job and moved out of her apartment, so she didn't know what to do.

Thankfully, a week later, with the executive order suspended, she was able to get on a

flight to the US.

Muhumad Yusuf Dhaqane is a Somali refugee living in Kenya.

He and his family fled Somalia because of the war and had been cleared to come to the

US after five years of reviews, vetting, and security checks.

But because of the executive order, they can't come here anymore.

Kenya has said that it will shut down the refugee camp and send them all back to Somalia

probably around May.

And on top of the thousands of people directly affected by this who were travelling or about

to travel to the US, there are many many more who are now afraid to travel because of the uncertainty.

Masih Alinejad is a journalist and the founder of My Stealthy Freedom, which is a campaign

against Iran's compulsory headscarf law.

While in Iran, she covered stories about the Iranian government's human rights abuses.

She has now lived in the US since 2014 as a green card holder and would likely face

imprisonment or even death if she returned to Iran.

However, her son is living in the UK, and she's afraid that they won't be able to

visit each other because of the ban.

And, can you blame her?

Green card holders are only being admitted on a "case-by-case" basis at this point,

and many green card holders have been detained or deported.

That uncertainty, and that fear of not being able to leave because you might not be able

to come back, is affecting hundreds of thousands of people who currently live in the US with

green cards but were born in one of those 7 countries.

Trump and Spicer claimed that only "109" people were affected, but that number is extremely

misleading and wrong.

That was only the number of people who were in transit when the order was signed and were

detained upon arrival.

The Department of Homeland Security said around 1,000 people

were not even allowed to board their planes.

Plus the State Department estimated that around 60,000 valid visas had been revoked, though

the Washington Post reported that it's more like 90,000.

Either way, that's a lot more than 109 people affected.

And that number doesn't even include refugees.

So a lot of people were affected, but I think we tend to get lost in the numbers sometimes.

I definitely do.

We feel like we need statistics to prove everything, and statistics are incredibly valuable and

helpful and necessary for understanding problems.

But, if we ignore the human side of things, we can start to see these people as just numbers,

and not as real people.

That's why I wanted to tell you these people's stories.

I don't think it's possible to support the ban if you hear the stories of any of these people.

It's easy to demonize those who are "other", who are different from you, and whose stories

and lives seem far away and unimportant.

But we have to recognize that these are real people who are really being affected.

I don't know if empathy and compassion are things that you can learn.

If hearing these people's stories doesn't make you feel for them, I don't know what to tell you.

I want you to try and empathize with these people.

I want you to try and imagine what it would be like to be in their situations.

But I can't make you do that.

And I'm sure people are still going to see this, and say, "Screw them, this ban is

keeping me safer and that's all that matters."

But first of all, it's not keeping you safer.

Nobody from any of the 7 banned countries has ever killed an American in a terrorist attack.

But second of all, it's only by pure chance that you're not them.

It's just luck that you were born in the US and not Somalia.

And I promise, none of these stories are fake.

You can check all of my sources in the description.

These are all real events that took place and were widely documented and verified by a variety of sources.

In many cases, there were official lawsuits filed with the federal government.

Though if you're the kind of person who refuses to listen to anything that doesn't

align with your narrative, I doubt that you've even made it this far in the video, much less

that you'll bother checking the sources.

So this is why we were protesting.

This is why Trump's executive order is so unethical.

These people don't deserve to be treated like this.

I really hope you can feel some empathy and compassion for them.

Thanks for watching this episode of Politics with Riley.

I'll see you next time.
