Youtube daily report w Feb 22 2017

Hey there!

Do you want to drastically improve your Overwatch skills while experiencing a deeper level of

gameplay?

If you had enough of ranked trolls and inconsistent games, we are going to show you how to become

an amateur esport athlete.

Keep watching!

Hello guys, welcome to the dojo!

Ranked games give a competitive atmosphere to players who mostly play solo or in small

groups.

But the real Overwatch experience that will get you into the world of esports is a little

bit trickier to gain.

This video should give you all the basic info you need to start your gaming career.

Before all, let's talk about what the competitive scene is.

There are small and big events in Overwatch online and offline, local and regional challenges,

cups and leagues.

The biggest ones have a lot of visibility through streams and news in the Overwatch

launcher and web pages, and on social media sites.

These are usually organized by Blizzard itself and have a huge prize pool distributed between

professional teams.

So what are professional teams?

Players in these groups get paid for playing.

They work together and practice against other high tier teams somewhere, but teaming up

and practicing is not just for pros only.

There is an introductory level to esports, which casual players can get into, and climb

to the top from there.

The level they can reach comes down to the level of determination and amount of invested

time.

So let's talk about the benefits of playing in a competitive team. The number one thing

is improvement.

You will experience Overwatch in a way you never thought possible.

Even if you only dedicate a few hours a week to play competitively, you should improve

a lot.

This is because a team environment where everyone is competitive minded doesn't have the pitfalls

of solo play.

There shouldn't be any trolls in these matches, all players will know their roles, and they

are going to concentrate on taking the objective together.

All in all it is a lot better place for improvement because there is a lot less annoyance going

on.

You can really focus on the joys of the game, without dealing with random irritations.

Of course playing in a team against other teams will not be easy.

You need to work together with 5 other people, fulfilling your role as best as possible.

Playing in a well coordinated manner is hard in itself, and you will most likely need to

practice a lot together to become used to each other's play style.

We think it is really worth the effort though.Did you notice, that we are talking about competitive

Overwatch, and ranks were still not mentioned?

That's because if you play in a team, it really does not matter how you perform in

solo queue.

That too can be a plus for some.

Alright, getting into esports is not that hard.

You don't even have to be really good in Overwatch to do so, as there are teams on

all levels.

From bronze to top500, everyone can find or establish a team they enjoy playing with.

The first step is to find a team.

It is important to know that competitive teams are usually have a lineup they play with and

a schedule when all players are there to play together.

By joining the team you may have to take a role and keep to it(for example playing only

supports), and adjust your playtime so you are able to play with your group.

Consider if you can dedicate time to do so, but it is really worth it if you want to improve

you game, even if you don't chase professional dreams.

In order to join or create a team, you need to find others to play with.

The number one tip is that if you don't have any previous team experience, join an

already established group.

This will teach you the basics, so you can create your team later if needed.

The first place where you can start looking for teams are Discord servers.

We linked invites to the big Overwatch servers, where you should look for channels called

with 'lf' (stands for looking for) in their name.

These are either channels for teams looking for players or the other way around.

If you found a team that you like, send them a direct message and ask about how to get

in the team.

Of course you can post your looking for team message too if that is what you want.

Apart from the Discord servers, you can use Reddit or different online sites for finding

teams.

These are linked in the description, however feel free to add to the list in a comment,

we will put these suggestions in the description!

If you need more help, feel free to join Overwatchdojo 's Discord server and ask for it.

We are there to help!

So this is the part where you take action.

Sit down for a moment and think if you would like to try a new and exciting experience

that is being an amateur esport athlete.

If you have the determination and allocate time for this hobby, we would suggest to give

it a chance.

In case you need a helping hand on the next steps, here is what you should do:

Click on one of the Discord invites in the description.

Wait until the page loads and either join in the Discord app, or use your nickname to

join from your browser.

Find the looking for players channel and read through the posts.

If you find anything fitting, send a direct message to the author and get started!

If you still don't find anything interesting, post your own looking for message in a proper

channel.

It usually starts with discussing availability and motivations, the role you need to fill

and how the team works.

Then you will be accepted or tried out in some scrims.

Keep up your spirits, show them what you got, and don't fret in case you don't make

it for the first try.

Top tips to approve exams (FUNNY!) - Duration: 3:15.

One of the most stressful times in schooling is the exam season; Then, stress appears,

as a result of spending sleepless nights studying for tests.

However, there are those who opt for certain methods to succeed, when for some reason they

were not prepared.

Let's look at "the top tricks to approve exams".

Copy In exams, this is one of the methods most

used and practiced by students, both in high school and college.

In some countries of the world, this act is considered a serious crime.

In India, more than 300 people are detained annually, having been found copying answers

in the academic tests.

Not showering In some areas of the world, there is a belief

that if you wash your hair during the exam week, you are likely to lose all the knowledge

you had previously stored in your brain.

Camouflage information on the calculator 80% of students have used this simple old

school trick, which is to hide some paper with key information, on top of the calculatoror

abbacus.

In modernity, this ruse has been revolutionized and it is now possible to introduce information

into the memory of a phone, which has become sophisticated over time.

Pencils with translucent ink This trick is used by young people who have

access to novel pens, which can write a lot of information and go unnoticed.

With this pen, the most relevant information is written on your arms, hands and legs.

In order to be able to see it, a very subtle ultraviolet light is used.

You must get hold of one of those, of course.

Good luck.

Tampons It is a strategy used only by women.

It consists of writing some keywords in a tampon and leaving it on the table.

Teachers won't say anything, because this type of objects is highly respected as personal

by most people.

Red clothes In China it is very common for people in their

final exams to wear red garments, especially underwear.

So many Chinese students already know that if they need luck, they don't hesitate to

wear clothes of that color.

Cell phone If you have the good fortune to have your

phone on you during your exam, it is very possible to perform any kind of maneuvers

to search the information on the internet and approve it without any problem.

Bribe the teacher It is a trick practiced by some students,

who believe that money can buy everything.

Of course some teachers will be offended, but some teachers, aware of their meagre wages,

see that they can overlook their professional ethics and end up accessing juicy cash figures.

Bribe your classmates Students can sometimes pay someone to somehow

do their exam for them, without the teacher's knowledge.

They can devise a whole plan to go unnoticed and thus, the two or more involved approve

without any problem.

Seduce the teacher This type of trick is very common, practiced

by the students to approve the exams.

It can be used by both men and women, who offer some kind of hot encounter with their

teacher, and the latter ends up approving them in his or her subject.

Kris' Kitchen Tips - HOW TO PEEL GARLIC - FAST - How To Feed a Loon - Duration: 3:24.

[MUSIC]

Hey, everybody.

Welcome to How to Feed a Loon.

I'm Kris, and, well, the Loon is out actually buying some breath mints,

and I'm going to tell you why.

He's buying some breath mints and

some wine, because I've got these two guys right here...garlic.

I love garlic, and Wesley doesn't like it so much after I have too much of it,

but he's been known to eat quite a bit of it himself [LAUGH].

But I'm going to show you a trick.

I'm going to be making my marinara sauce, because we're going to have

some incredible homemade lasagna tonight, and I love lots of my marinara, and

in my marinara I like it to be loaded with garlic.

But what I don't like to do is to have to sit there and peel, and peel,

and peel and there are different techniques.

You've probably seen where someone gets a clove of garlic, and

they put a knife on it, and they whack it.

And, I've always, I've done that before, but it just,

it sort of splatters out the clove, and I think it also, some of the oils from

the garlic are dispersed, and it's just, I don't find it a really clean way to do it.

But I also don't like peeling tons and tons of garlic.

So, I'm going to show you a trick that makes it super, super easy.

So I've got two cloves of garlic right here, all right?

And I'm going to do, you gotta get a little bit of aggressive but

work out some of that aggression and [SOUND].

Ooh!

[LAUGH] Okay, well, I really have worked out some aggression there.

But all right, and then we're going to do the same thing with this right here, okay?

[SOUND] Oops, okay.

All right.

I need a broom.

Obviously, the Loon would be in here, but that's okay.

I've broken this apart.

Cooking Italian was meant to be a little messy anyway.

I've got a bowl here, okay.

We're going to take another bowl that's going to fit right on top.

Anything that you've got like a pan that's got a nice lid will work.

I like doing something that's kind of got something cylindrical on the bottom and

cylindrical on the top.

And then, you're just going to shake the dickens out of this for

about 10 seconds, all right?

[SOUND] All right.

[SOUND] Shake it up, baby!

[SOUND] Okay, and it gives you a little bit of a workout, too.

It's fun.

Wesley always says to me, "what...have you got a calypso party going in there?"

You know, so it kind of makes music to your ears.

But even better than that, look at that.

Perfectly peeled garlic, it's amazing.

I mean, you know, depending on how fresh your garlic is,

some of the skin may want to stick to them and

you may need to help the skin out a little bit, but it's really amazing.

I mean, that just saved me so much time, and the more cloves you put in, or

the more heads you put in there, they all bang around each other and

they knock each other's skins off and It's a party, for sure.

That's great.

Well, speaking of a party, the Loon is going to be back any time, and so

I've got to get going on this marinara sauce.

Indian teenager believed to be dead, wakes up on way to funeral - Duration: 1:27.

Doggone it!

A 17-year-old Indian boy woke up on the way to his funeral, which shocked family and villagers in Dharwad's Managundi village, the Times of India reports.

Kumar Marewad was believed to be dead after he was taken to the hospital after being bitten by a stray dog. Marewad had come down with a high fever and was put on a ventilator after his condition worsened.

Doctors told Marewad's family he would not survive if life support was removed because the infection had spread throughout his body. His family chose to take him instead of continuing treatment.

When Marewad showed no body movement at the home, his relatives thought he had died. They asked fellow villagers to prepare Marewad for his last rites and funeral.

Kumar Marewad, who has been battling an infection after being bit by a dog, stunned his family on the way to his funeral.

As the family was close to the village where the funeral was located, Marewad opened his eyes, started breathing and moved his hands and legs. The 17-year-old was then rushed back to the hospital.

Dr. Mahesh Neelakhantannavar told the Times of India that the boy is now back on a ventilator.

"We suspect he suffers from meningoencephalitis, an infection caused due to dog bite," Neelakhantannavar said.

Marewad's incident sounds like it's something from the Twilight Zone, but he's still breathing.

Urban Explore of FORGOTTEN CREEPY ABANDONED BUILDINGS! (URBEX) - Duration: 10:01.

So the fences are here

we need to get past them!

This must be the way!

Yes, it is the way!

Lets hope the fences are broken!

it looks collapsed over there

Angus, Look!

we are not the first people to come here

and we won't be the last!

we have entered!

and I just nearly fell over

yo people welcome back to another video

I am here with Angus today and we're going

to do another exploring video like the

one we did in the asylum last time

Quick fact the asylum we went in last time has

been completely demolished now!

we planned to go back there

obviously we couldn't because it wasn't there

So where are we today Angus!

We are at an old brick factory!

there are only two buildings remaining

and all the rest have been destroyed

So this brick factory has been a mystery for centuries

but due to some recent analysis we has discovered

this was actually where they made bricks

joining the team today on this reckless adventure

we have professional stripper

Angus Nisbet

Joining him

we have explorer and Sherlock Holmes fan boy

Curtis Tilbo

Before we go inside

I want to fly my drone

where should we take off?

on the hill!

alright let's go up there!

this is a good idea

because we can look out for police we need to avoid.

But being on top of the hill they might see us.

we are going to have to be quick!

Angus getting scared someone is watching us

no I was wrong, he is just stealing something

why do you want that?

free clothes

FREE CLOTHES! WHAT!

You can look official if you wear it!

I am not putting that on

if anyone comes I can say I am in charge

It is just too dirty to wear, it looks horrible!

I hope no one sees us!

we are going to this one first

This seems like a good place to shoot a music video

I swear I just heard something

lets go down here, there is a door

it looks creepy

Do you want to go through the mystery door?

I think you should go first Curtis!

ok you take the camera

So I am going to die first

No bad things always happen to the cameraman

our extremely brave urban explorer (urbex) Curtis

just got pulled back by a mysterious force

leading the team to believe that this is

a confirmed haunted abandoned building!

as we can see here

Reggie the bird has died

how did that happen?

The evidence is right here

he has been eating Baked Beans!

so we can confirm it is haunted can't we?

of course it is

remember kids boycott the baked beans

Scary Birds!

so many birds are living in here

hello I didn't see you there

welcome to my house!

let's go on a house tour!

Through here we have a lovely falling down ceiling

which we should get away from!

that would be a good idea

this is my living room

of course it has another falling down ceiling

Did you do that graffiti?

yeah I like to give my house a retro look

so the children think I am cool

I have the light bulb done

I think you have a problem with your electricity

do you think so?

yeah maybe

I think it just needs another bulb and it should be fine!

so is this fire the only heating you have? How do you keep warm?

Well Angus

I am hot enough for this place!

I can't believe you just said that!

Go on!

Parkour

what is in here?

it is your conservatory Curtis

My garden is coming through the walls!

you want some roadkill for dinner?

some abandoned place dead bird

Angus, can you put the lights on please?

I am not actually going to do that

imagine if that switch blew up the roof

and then it all caved in!

Look there are already holes in the roof!

the switch may be the only thing keeping it up

There are not light bulbs so I don't think it would do anything

That was a bit violent!

I broke in!

there is so much glass on the floor

there is a message on the door

I hope you are watching PewDiePie

I actually have not seen anyone here

it's actually pretty abandoned

there must be people over there

don't say that!

Imagine now if we got attacked with police dogs!

BIRD ATTACK!

INTO THE SECOND ONE

Look at those windows!

Angus is this your house?

we can be neighbours

so can you show me around

this is my bed

it's a lovely bed

is that what you do every night?

what is in here?

let's explore in here

I think you have got a bigger house than me!

this is the kitchen

ok...

I think it is my favourite room

there is a really cool bit of art here

did you do that yourself?

no I got some

interior designers in to do that piece of art

I think it really brightens up the place

so is this your wine cellar

I'm this looks a bit dodgy

it is my second bedroom

it is under maintenance that is why it is blocked up

I think there use to be something down here

but there is lots dirt in there now filling it up

it is sad they are going to destroy all of this

even though they are abandoned

it does look really cool

it is an awesome place to take pictures

I will take take some for my instagram (curtistilbo)

it is not actually scary here because no one is here!

what are you doing Angus?

he is trying to get some furniture for his house

all this furniture should be inside!

do you think they are good antiques?

how about this deak it looks very old

this is an orginal

1920's

expensive desk

I don't know what I am talking about

where are you going?

I am leaving

is that your secret passage way?

where has Angus gone?

there he is!

it needs to go down a bit Angus they can't see you

I hope you enjoyed a look into our personal lives

my house is right next to Angus's

so you are welcome to visit us

so if you did like the video make sure to smash that

come on Angus!

that thumbs up button if you did enjoy it

subscribe if you are new

It has been awesome hanging with them hasn't it?

it has!

remember to take it easy and i will see

you in my next video so until next time

laters!

Antikythera Episode 2 - The Main Solar Drive Wheel B1. - Duration: 11:46.

G'day Chris here, and welcome back to Clickspring.

In this video I begin work on probably the most recognised part of the mechanism.

The iconic gear wheel known as B1.

Its tempting to look at this part and assume that its a bit like a clock wheel.

Formed from a single piece of raw sheet stock and then crossed out to reveal the spokes.

But look closely at this scan of the wreckage,

and you'll see thats not how the part was actually made.

There's clear evidence of a dovetail join at the end of this spoke.

And in fact other scans confirm dovetail joins at the end of all 4 spokes.

In the center there's evidence of an overlapping notched join,

with 4 rivets holding the cross members together, to form the 4 spoke shape.

This part was fabricated, not cut from sheet stock.

And once that fact sinks in, a whole bunch of questions arise.

For example: What were the tools available to the original maker to form this part?

We know for sure about some them, like dividers, hammers and files.

But were there others tools we don't yet know about.

And what about the dovetail join itself?

The maker has confidently applied an engineering technique

in a way that suggests complete familiarity,

as if it's a standard, well established practice.

Such confidence likely came from previous experience.

Were there other similar geared mechanisms that preceded this one?

And why go down this much more difficult route of fabricating the wheel blank in the first place?

Was it a design requirement?

A repair?

Maybe even a corrected mistake?

My personal thought on the last question

is that it was probably the same reason that motivates makers today:

Cost of materials.

Bronze was expensive, in fact it still is.

I imagine it was far better to re-use the center cutout for another wheel,

and then use some off-cut scrap for the spokes,

rather than to consume expensive fresh stock.

But whatever the reason, it must have been a very good one,

because this is by no means the easy way to make this part.

As per the original device, the cross members will be notched,

drilled and then riveted together, and the dovetail joins will be filed to shape,

for an interference fit with the perimeter ring.

A central hole will be bored, and finally the teeth formed at the perimeter.

Now the scans show what appears to be an amendment to one of the dovetail joins.

A thin sheet of bronze has been both pinned and soldered over the top.

It could be a feature of the planetarium support structure,

but I think its more likely to be either a repair,

or a pre-emptive effort to strengthen an otherwise weak join.

It'll be interesting to see if there's an inherent flaw in the dovetail join,

that requires me to make a similar amendment later in the build.

In any case, its clear that there are a number of challenges to be overcome

in fabricating the part this way, the most pressing of which is the issue of alignment.

It's essential that the parts be brought back together into precise alignment

every time a progress check is made on the fit.

The slightest misalignment, and the other intersections become compromised.

More metal than necessary would be removed, with the result being a poor overall fit.

So I'm going to use a simple circular jig to make life a bit easier.

The cross members will be located using the center pin on the jig, and an offset pin.

The outer ring will be positioned using the register I've turned on the wooden block,

and a single steady pin on the perimeter.

Next up are the 2 cross members that will form the spokes.

The raw stock is an offcut from a previous project.

It needs to be marked out, and then roughed to shape.

I used the mill to clean up the raw cuts and also to drop in a reference hole

in the center of each piece, to match the central pin on the alignment jig.

Now the jig performs 2 .

Not only does it give me a way to maintain alignment during the filing,

but it also works as an excellent platform to help me accurately mark out the work for each step,

like for example marking out the 2 notches required for the center join.

Back to the mill, and I formed the shallow notches,

aiming for a snug fit with the opposing part.

A quick clean up of the burrs left from the mill,

and these 2 parts are ready to come together and be marked out for the rivet holes.

The rivet holes were then drilled, while the 2 parts were assembled,

and a set of 4 small rivets turned to size on the lathe.

The process of riveting has drawn the 2 parts tightly together,

leaving the rivets just above the surrounding metal surface.

From here I can use files and abrasive paper to take them all of the way down to that surface,

and then blend them into the surrounding metal.

OK, next up the small alignment pin for the spokes was marked out,

and then installed in the same manner as the one on the perimeter ring.

Now the dovetails are essentially an exercise in freehand filing and fitting.

Which as you can imagine with 4 opposing dovetails, has a fair chance of going astray.

I'd like them to look reasonably consistent across the part,

so I've made a couple of simple tracing templates

to give me a fighting chance of getting a good result.

And as I make a start on the filing, its a great time to ask another question:

With so much precision hand work,

how did the original maker solve the problem of workholding?

There's no doubt that a secure method of holding the work would have been essential.

So what was the ancient equivalent to this modern screw vise?

Filing small parts doesn't usually require a whole lot of force.

And the vise also doesn't need to generate a particularly high clamping force,

just enough to grip the work.

So I imagine a simple wooden clamping peg like this, could easily do the job,

not unlike a modern pin vise.

A clamping ring, designed to be a sliding fit over the tapered section,

could be gently tapped into place to provide the clamping force.

If it were solidly fixed to a simple bench at a convenient height,

I think it'd do a great job, and its consistent with the known technology of the time.

Of course a lot of the detail of workholding devices like this

will probably never be known for certain.

But the mechanism has many features that strongly suggest a tool technology

that goes well beyond files and hammers.

So its going to be a lot of fun speculating about the nature of that tool technology,

and its a theme that I expect to return to often as the build progresses.

Back to the task at hand, I used a hand saw to remove a small part of the waste stock,

and then again used files to open up the recesses.

And as you can imagine at this point I was taking this nice and slow.

Carefully checking after each change, and slowly working towards a close fit.

In fact this is the part of the process where the jig really becomes useful.

Indicating how much and from where, metal still needs to be removed.

At the point where I could feel each of the dovetails just click into position,

I called the filing complete.

And with no further need to check alignment,

I tapped out each of the alignment pins.

The spoke assembly was then lightly pressed into position, and then hammered home.

The part was then mounted on the lathe and taken to final dimension,

all ready to receive some of those amazing triangular teeth.

Now there's a lot I'd like to talk about regarding the geometry and formation of those teeth,

so rather than make this video too long, I'll save that discussion for a later time.

But after completing the first substantial piece of the mechanism,

its becoming clear to me,

that the story of how this machine was made

is going to be as much about the tool technology used to make it,

as it will be about the device itself.

Thanks for watching, I'll see you later.

Now before you go, and while I'm still on the subject of gear teeth,

in the latest Patron Series episode on the Byzantine Sundial-Calendar build,

I go through the process of how you can make your own cycloidal gear teeth cutters.

Something that can literally save you hundreds of dollars, on the cost of a project.

So if you're enjoying the videos, would like to help me make more

and maybe save some money in the process,

then consider becoming a Clickspring Patron.

Patrons get the same deal as for the first patron Series Project.

Exclusive access to the build videos,

free plans for the Patron Series projects,

and of course the added bonus that one lucky patron

will get to keep the finished project at the end of the build.

Three ways to change minds - Duration: 5:37.

When people have extreme political beliefs, and then they see evidence that opposes them, they temper those beliefs to become more moderate.

Ah, no, whoops. That would be the smart thing to do and politics makes us stupid.

We actually dig their heels in and support those beliefs more, against the evidence.

It works this way for liberals and conservatives.

But at the same time, political beliefs aren't something that people take lightly.

You wouldn't expect someone to just change their mind after just a single conversation.

They've usually been thinking about these things for a while.

So is there anything that can sway people's opinions, even just a little bit?

Yes, in fact--and here are three.

Number one: Forget about knowledge. Focus on curiosity.

There's a problem with focusing on knowledge and facts, and it's not just that sometimes people ignore them.

Sometimes the people you disagree with most have the same knowledge as you, but they use it to reach the opposite conclusion.

One study showed liberals and conservatives some data about how effective a gun control measure was.

It was fake data; in one case it showed the measure was effective, and another case, it wasn't.

But--that wasn't obviously apparent, you had to do some simple math to see that conclusion.

When people were asked--not even for their own opinion--but just what conclusion the data supported,

people let their prior politics do the thinking.

Liberals thought it worked, conservatives didn't.

Not only that, but being better at math made them worse at getting to the correct answer--

--if it went against their political beliefs.

You can find a similar pattern with general science knowledge and belief in climate change.

If you're strongly conservative,

having more science knowledge is associated with believing in climate change less, and vice versa.

Researchers argue that the smarter you are,

the better you are at finding arguments that support what you already believe.

But, if you focus on curiosity instead of knowledge--

--ask questions about the pleasure of finding out new things, or how often people read science books, and the like--

--opinions converge.

More curious conservatives--and more curious liberals--

--are more likely to agree that climate change is real than the less-curious folks who share their politics.

It's a small effect--

--it's not as if the science-curious conservatives are endorsing the reality of climate change

as much as, well, any of the liberals on average.

but it's enough to show that curiosity is associated with bucking the party line just a little bit.

...and moreso than knowledge is.

Number Two: Use your words. Don't use their words.

To learn about what arguments are most effective in changing people's minds,

some researchers looked at over 12,000 posts in the subreddit called "change my view,"

where people make a case, invite counterarguments, and say whose arguments convinced them to change.

What the researchers called the "feature with the most predictive power of successful persuasion"

was to reply using words that were dissimilar to the original post.

Use of similar wording seemed to suggest they were just raising arguments the original poster had already heard before,

and instead it was better to raise points they didn't originally address.

And quoting the original post directly was interpreted as nit-picking, and that was really unconvincing.

They found some other trends as well, some things that might seem like intuitive advice:

staying calm instead of getting angry, bringing some evidence,

and writing longer posts were all more likely to convince people.

But it's worth noting this study was done in a context in which people were open to having their mind changed.

And even then, the change happened in a minority of cases.

Also noteworthy was that people who used the word "I" more than "we" in their original post were more susceptible to change.

Use of "we" suggested they were more firmly entrenched.

And having more than 4 back and forth exchanges was a good sign to give up.

Number Three - Forget about your morals. Think about their morals.

Our political beliefs are often driven by our moral intuitions,

and some recent research has shown that many of us on both sides of the political divide share some similar moral intuitions.

Both liberals and conservatives endorse values relating to caring for others, and avoiding harm when possible, and generally being fair.

But elsewhere, our moral intuitions diverge.

People on the conservative side of the spectrum tend to endorse values related to purity,

respect for authority, and loyalty to ingroups.

Whereas liberals tend to be disinterested in those values,

or endorse the opposite: challenging authority, or dissolving those group boundaries.

This means when we try to change someone's opinion, we think of why we hold our own opinion,

and these moral values immediately spring to mind.

That's not that helpful.

And, some recent work suggests that you can nudge people's opinion just a little bit

if you frame your argument according to their morality.

For example, in one study participants read arguments for universal health care.

One focused on the moral principle of fairness:

we should take care of everyone, people don't choose to get sick, et cetera.

Another focused on principles of purity:

the "grotesque symptoms" of disease and the need to control them to keep them from spreading.

After reading the argument based on purity,

conservatives showed a little more support for the Affordable Care Act

than if they read the argument based on fairness.

A similar effect was found in arguments for gay marriage:

conservatives were more swayed by an argument that gay couples were proud and loyal Americans--

--serving in the military and contributing to the economy--

--than they were by an argument based in fairness and equality.

But, the cat swings both ways.

Similar studies showed that liberals could be convinced to increase their support for military funding,

by framing the argument in terms of the services provided to soldiers, and the disadvantaged groups who are often recruited.

Or, to support enforcing English as a national language--based on it leveling the playing field for immigrants.

None of these are huge effects.

It's not like these arguments are suddenly convincing majorities of people to change their minds.

But, to make effective, practical change, sometimes nudging just a few people just a little bit is exactly what you need.

Thanks for watching. See you next time!

Ukrainian who proposed Russia deal to Trump associates investigated for treason - Duration: 3:13.

A Ukrainian lawmaker who met with associates of President Trump about a possible peace deal is now facing a treason investigation.

Andrei Artemenko is under scrutiny from investigators for proposing a plan where his country could legally lease Crimea, annexed by the Kremlin in 2014, to Russia, Ukrainian prosecutors Yuri Lutsenko announced.

A letter posted by Lutsenko on Facebook said that the plan would legitimize the annexation, which followed the deployment of Russian troops and has not been recognized by the international community.

Parts of eastern Ukraine remain paralyzed by violent clashes between Russian-backed separatists and Ukrainian government forces.

Artemenko, who opposes Ukraine's current president Petro Poroshenko, says his meeting with Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and Felix Sater, a Russian-American businessman with ties to Trump and the mafia, was about finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Artemenko met with Trump associates including Michael Cohen in January.

(Richard Drew/AP)

The New York Times, which first reported the meeting, said that Cohen brought the plan to the Trump administration, though the lawyer has denied doing so.

The January gathering at Manhattan's Loews Regency also revolved around lifting U.S. sanctions against the Russian government, something Vladimir Putin and associates have hoped for during a Moscow-friendly Trump presidency.

Artemenko told the Times that his plan had received encouragement from Putin aides, though the Kremlin has said that it would be "absurd" to rent Crimea, which it considers Russian territory, from itself.

While there have been no allegations of criminality, the meeting and proposed plan come amid increased scrutiny of Trump associates' ties to powerful figures in the former Soviet Union.

President Trump's connections to the former Soviet Union have come under scutiny because of proposal to work more closely with Russia.

(SAUL LOEB/AFP/Getty Images)

Gen. Michael Flynn resigned as National Security Adviser earlier this month after misrepresenting a conversation with Russia's U.S. ambassador that involved the mention of sanctions.

Cohen was mentioned in unverified claims compiled in a former British spy's dossier last month, though has vigorously denied claims that he met with Russian officials.

Trump's connection to Sater, born in Russia but raised in the U.S., has also drawn scrutiny because of Sater's conviction for stabbing a man with a broken margarita glass in the 1990s and his part in a stock manipulation scheme linked to the Mafia.

Sater, who later turned informant for the FBI, told Fox News that he is not a link between the Trump campaign and the Russian government and has no business dealings in Russia or Ukraine.

Felix Sater, a Russian-American real estate businessman, was also part of the January Artemenko meeting.

(Felix Sater/via YouTube)

His and Trump's work together does have links to the former Soviet Union, however.

A Financial Times investigation last year found that Sater's former employer Bayrock and Trump benefited from sales of apartments in the Trump Soho project to Kazakhs accused of money laundering.

The City of Almaty Kazakhstan has said that former Almaty Mayor Victor Khrapunov and former Kazakh bank head Mukhtar Ablyazov illegally gained billions of dollars through corrupt dealings and embezzlement, later stashing it in real estate holdings throughout the world.

Trump lawyer Alan Garten told the FT that Bayrock and a partner company were responsible for vetting buyers, and that his investigation was not aware of the Kazakhs or the relatives who bought the apartments.

Though Sater listed himself as a "senior adviser" to Trump in 2010, the President has since distanced himself and said in a 2013 deposition that he wouldn't know be able to recognize his fellow real estate businessman.

Majority of Refugees Coming from Terrorist Countries After Executive Order Struck Down - Duration: 2:58.

Majority of Refugees Coming from Terrorist Countries After Executive Order Struck Down.

Refugees are flooding into the United States after a judge struck down President Donald

Trumps executive order that temporarily halted travel from seven terror-prone countries.

Not surprisingly, the majority of these new refugees are coming from five of those seven

countries.

According to Breitbart, refugees are pouring into the U.S. after the order declaring

a moratorium on immigration from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Sudan and Yemen was

put on hold by a district judge in Seattle on Feb. 3.

A three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals later upheld that judges stay.

CNS News reported that since then, 2,576 people have entered the country, with 60.1 percent

coming from Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Syria and Sudan.

Thats 1,549 people in less than a month.

In addition, 475 other refugees self-identified as Muslims, according to the Refugee Processing

Center.

On Feb. 11, Trump took to Twitter to blast developments that had taken place since the

court rulings.

The president cited a Feb. 9 Washington Times article that stated that just six days after

the initial decision by District Judge James Robart, 1,100 refugees came to the U.S. from

those seven terror-prone countries.

Jessica Vaughan, policy studies director at the conservative Center for Immigration Studies,

said the numbers arent really that surprising.

Theres no doubt in my mind they would be doing whatever they could to get people

in before something changes because, from their perspective, their motivation is to

resettle these folks, she said.

It would not be the first time that State Department officials have prioritized facilitating

someones entry to the United States over security concerns.

How will the president respond to these numbers?

He was publicly upset after the 9th Circuit panel upheld the stay on his order, and immediately

tweeted that he would see them in court over the issue.

However, the White House might simply be preparing a new executive order written to survive a

court challenge, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Share this story on Facebook and Twitter and let us know if you think this is a national

security risk.

What is the president's next course of action?

Day 3 of 21 Dyas of Fitness Challenge l JazzyArcher30 - Duration: 2:55.

[laughter] Day 3.

Yes.

I'm an hour late but yes So here we go.

About to go ahead and hit up the gym.

So we're at a different location this time.

We decided to go to the one in Regency.

Aye.

Regency baby.

Welcome back to the channel Jazzlings.

If you are new don't forget to hit the subscribe button and notification bell so you know when

I upload a new video.

Here we are at the gym.

Since we are at a new location, I'm jamming to "Slave to the Rhythm" by Michael Jackson.

Of course, Michael wants to bother me.

I swear.

But anyways, as far as I'm going to weigh in on Friday because I am going to do a weekly

weigh in.

And also see about reviewing what I eat during timeframe of the challenge.

Michael leave me alone.

So I decided to do 5 extra minutes and look at this.

Wow.

Last time I had 8o something calories burned so additional 5 minutes and look I burned

50 more calories.

On to weight machines where I do resistance training.

I normally don't do the machine but since I am at a new location and it's not that

spacious, I decided to do hip abduction and adduction.

I always get those two mixed up.

Always think of add when you bring your legs together.

You're adding it together.

When I do particular weight sessions, I'm actually doing four sets of ten.

Yes, 4 sets of 10.

I start off with light weight, then I increase the weight and do 2 more sets of heavy weight,

then I bring the weight down some.

That's how I chose to do everything.

I'm doing leg presses here.

And, yes, it's a bit of a struggle cause I am doing the heavy weight here.

Now I'm going over to leg curls.

I can never stand to do leg curls or extensions.

That's just my opinion.

You know that's just me.

At least I get to look myself in the mirror and say "oooo, I'm so cute".

Now I'm doing rear extensions, where I am doing kickbacks.

I'm not going to lie, at this angle really thought this angle was going to emphasize

on my booty.

It didn't really, but that's ok.

I am getting it though, as far as, I think I am doing about 50 or 60 pounds.

And then I'm going to do some leg curls, well I mean calf raises.

I'm doing some calf raises right now.

As far as I'm getting it in there.

I'm building up the calf muscle because if you are wearing heels a lot, then you need

to worry about the calf and lower abdomen.

So don't forget to hit the subscribe button and hit the notification bell.

I'll see you next time.

Stay out of trouble.

[Kiss sound] Peace.
