How to turn pants into shorts + alter the waist | Sewing tutorial - Duration: 4:24.

Hi, I'm Ellen.

In this video I'm going to turn a pair of bad-fitting pants into these cute shorts!

I started with this pair of pants from the second hand store.

The fabric is great and I love the color, but the fit is terrible.

I honestly don't understand these pants at all, but I'm pretty sure I can fix them!

I'm going to start by fixing the fit around my waist.

I put the pants on to see how much I need to take it in, which turns out to be 10 centimeters.

That's quite a bit.

I don't want to mess with the zipper or the pockets, so I decided to make two pleats

in the front, one on either side of the zipper, and a dart in the back.

The easiest way to make these changes is to just make darts.

That means you just sew in a triangle, like I did on this other pair of pants.

It works great, but it does leave you with a visible seam.

I decided to challenge myself this time and try to make the alterations invisible.

To take in some of the waist in the front, I'm making two pleats.

I then marked the location of the pleats to make sure they were spaced evenly.

I started by carefully removing the waistband in these sections with a seam ripper.

I made the pleats by folding the fabric over and stitching it in place.

Now the waistband is too long, so I'll need to take that in too.

I don't want to mess with the zipper or pockets, like I said, so to make this an invisible

alteration I'm going to hide the seam underneath the decorative flaps on either side.

I cut the waistband at an angle, right next to the flap,

and stitched the two sides back together, making it shorter.

I then stitched the waistband back in place.

This turned out to be a bit of a struggle, because I was working in such tight corners.

So I gave myself a bit more working room by removing the button.

And that made things a bit easier.

For the back, I'm making use of the existing seam.

I started by removing the flap and the button

and opening up the back seam.

I then stitched in a new line, starting on the original stitching line around the hips

but moving in closer towards the top.

I then shortened the waistband the same way I did for the front, by cutting it and stitching

it back together.

I then put the flap back in place, which will hide the seam in the waistband.

Finally, I handstitched the three buttons back on.

I tried it on, and it fits!

Yes!

While I have the pants on I'm going to mark the length that I want the legs to be.

At first I thought it was going to be just above the knee, but the legs are pretty tight on me.

With the looseness of the top I think it'll end up looking a bit funny with long legs.

So I'm making them even shorter.

Transfer the marking to both legs and add seam allowance.

I'm making a double seam of 2 centimeters, so I'm adding 4 centimeters on each of the legs.

And then comes the scary part: cut the legs off!

I tried them on straight away just to see if I wasn't wrong about the length,

but it was fine.

Turn the pants inside out and fold the seam over twice.

Pin it in place all the way around and then take it to the sewing machine and stitch it down.

Try to keep an even distance from the bottom to make it looks its best.

And I'm done!

I think they turned out really cute and I'm so happy that you can't even see the alterations!

That's the first time I managed to do that, so I'm pretty proud of myself right now.

so today! tadaa Mcd's has yet another limited seasonal release item!

I bought 2 of their Gran clubohouse sandwiches, 2 bacon cheese Mc Gran, and 2 Mc Gran teriyaki

3 large fries, 3 large cokes, and 2 Med vanilla shakes

these new Gran sandwiches sounded so good so I'm really looking forward to trying them out

as for price. they're all 390 yen pretty well 400 yen... itadakimasu

lets start off this this Mc gran clubhouse... what exactly is a clubhouse? WAT DO

oh wow this is what it looks like uhh don't it look pretty?

its really made so nicely ~I'm not saying they're always making ugly sandwiches~

there's a layer of cheese, a patty, and there is some tomato in here as well, oh and some onion as well

you can really taste the cheese in this the flavor of cheese is so stong in this

and the onion and tomato are so very firm and crunchy its got a sort of a sweet tasting sauce as well

and there was also a slice of bacon up in here that salty flavor of bacon is a nice touch

the bun has a nice color to it and its so fluffy and tasty

to make it easier to eat I'll dump the fries in this dish I should' done this right off the bat

I'm terrible at prepping for stuff like this

a mountain of fries

tadaa next up is a teriyaki clubhouse this is what it looks like

inside it looks like all we've got is some lettuce and tomato and some mayo as well

teriyaki sauce is so nice and sweet tasting a little change in sauce transforms the entire burger

next up is a gran bacon cheese these new wrappers are so Kawaii aren't they

green purple, pink..

no wait... its not pink.... its Orange!

it just came out like that....

this is what it looks like there's bacon and cheese inside I wish they'd have done a better job with the onion here lol

mmm the bacon is smoked making it so very tasty this is so delish as well

mmm vanilla shakes are so delish as always they go so great with fries

the sauce in this bacon cheese burger was ketchup the clubhouse was so very delish tasting

the bun was so soft and chewy and not dry at all the burger on it was so very tasty as well

so I've tried all 3 so now I'll..... save the clubhouse sandwich I liked for last

we only have 3 here though in third place is the bacon cheese. ~the one I just had seconds ago~

alrighty, next up is the Mc gran clubhouse. so I was thinkin' bout this.....

putting this sandwich up against the bacon cheese you get a way better deal with this one since its got

so many toppings on it.... but double checking the site it states that the gran clubhouse is 490 Y and

the teriyaki and the bacon cheese are both 390 Y this one right here is 100 Y more expensive

no wonder because its loaded with way more toppings than the others

the last one I'll eat and the one I liked the best.... Mc Gran's.....

Teriyaki.... its the sauce that I love so much.... yummy teriyaki

the clubhouse is loaded down with so many toppings and that was a wonderful taste experience but

in the end... it all comes down to the sauce ~kitteh~ so she pretty well thinks anything covered in teriyaki sauce is delish~

the clubhouse was very tasty as well..

last mouthful itadakimasu

gochisosamadeshita oops I have a coke left over.... I'll finish it later

the Mc Gran were so tasty especially the clubhouse every topping it had was

of such high quality it was so well made and very delish

that said... the one I really liked the best was the one drenched in Teriyaki sauce

as far as tastes go.... that is the one I preferred the most

the bun was so very soft and chewy and they were very tasty

but then again they were rather pricey... with the clubhouse coming in at 490 Y.. pretty well 500 Y

but it was really worth the price though they were all so tasty won't you all give them a try?

going to show you 4 blending mode uses

graphic design tips video today I have

4 dope uses for the blending modes in

Photoshop for you to try out for

yourself the first technique for using

Photoshop blending modes is based around

pegs or hand lettering in Adobe

Illustrator I have made some custom hand

lettering myself as you can see here you

can use kind of tanks for this pending

however or bring any with the photoshop

the blending mode options in Photoshop

are located here and this is where we

will be creating our effects today for

this effect choose overlay the text

should be white and it helps to have a

somewhat dark image for the background

as you can see it really let the light

shine through the text anyway that's

simply lowering the opacity we're not

doing let's try a few other blending

options out in the same category and for

this I think they believe the best

blending mode option

let's try now the black tag since the

other outcome is I'm going to use a

burly again but feel free to experiment

with different blending modes

this next use for photoshop blending

mode options really helps you have an

mu2 a document of eggs which is on one

clutton image and you want to place it

over a different image without the white

background showing up quickly made this

mock-up a port image for the video

usually you would have to go down to the

magic wand tool and believe the what

areas that way but I will take a lot of

time set the blending mode of your way

document into multiply and just like

magic new malaria's

if you set it a screen then the black

areas will become transparent this is

great for web graphics the infographics

brochures and many of the areas of

graphic design if you have black

background to your text and the text is

white you can apply screen as a blending

mode and you have mainly the White House

content over the top you could also add

a white background with a lower apt for

added effect I really love this effect

personally it looks really professional

in my opinion

the third Photoshop blending mode use to

allow you to take an image of yourself

for a different person and you can make

it look instantly better this image on

the screen already has some photoshop

work done to it seems but we can still

enhance it with blending modes unlock

the layer and hit among J to duplicate

it on the new layer said the blending

mode to overlay and then adjusted beta T

to whatever you think looks best then

for an even enhanced effect we can add a

blur to the top layer remember that the

blending mode activated will stop the

preview here of them of the blur being

the end result as you can see telling

the enhanced layer on and off show the

difference between one blending my

adjustment and while you can actually do

the last blending mode effect you can

use involves using a texture over an

image so here we have a man and also a

brick wall you can use the blending mode

to add the bricks across the skin the

texture has to be in the bottom layer

with this technique for this effect you

can try these five blending modes here

I personally going to go to multiply for

my design

with the rated who I'm going to delete

through the brick layer to add to the

effect

make your graphic design using them I

My name is Matilda Teford and I live in Portugal.

My nationality and my mother tongue are Dutch.

Several years ago I have done a Ph.D. research in civil engineering and when I did that I

realised I didn't want to continue in that field.

After I finished it, I started to focus on sharing my knowledge about life.

Therefore I created this channel.
