Youtube daily report w Dec 31 2016

My name's Elisenda Barrera and I'm 40 years old.

And... I'm linked to Can Vies because...

I occupied it together with many other people

I lived there for 4 years.

They were very intense, full of life experiences

and I wouldn't change them for anything.

Here was a graffiti, a sign.

And here a store, Amena, when mobile phones were introduced.

There was a graffiti we sprayed everywhere:

It said: "You can't buy freedom with a credit card"

Here, in this coffee shop,

called "Petit Cafè" there were two girls

who were together, lesbians

they kissed each other, expressing their love.

They reprehended them and told them to leave.

It said: "Petit Cafè; Big Homophobe".

Those two were a classic on our graffiti night tour.

It's so strange to not see the tower!

Here was a tower. You could already see it from here.

I used to sleep on the top of the tower.

We set up a room in the attic.

It's unbelievable to see the landscape, without the tower.

The Can Vies tower! With the flag!

It's not here! It's missing!

Looking back, I would never have imagined

that Can Vies would still be there after 18 years.

Not fully, but still alive.

Even hurt, it's alive.

The expectations of any squatter

or somebody occupying a place in the 90s were very ephemeral.

You knew you would occupy

and, anyway, the expectations were

to stand until eviction.

It was a matter of dignity

even honor

to defend and protest about

those empty buildings still having an use,

being there to be rescued, and an eviction

would mean stepping on all the work.

For our neighbourhood

it has been like a school for activism and initiatives by assembly.

For the preparation and implemention of direct actions.

With the particularity that it covered many generations.

Can Vies is a benchmark

for the Sants district

and for other districts, and for the city,

for Catalonia,

and for the south of Europe.

as a reference for self-management.

The particularity of this social center is that it has kept a policy of

incorporating young people and taking them afterwards

to other places,

in and outside the district, because people move out.

It has survived many other social centres.

It has had a very long life.

Many different generations have been part of Can Vies

and have kept in touch with the district and Can Vies.

Either bringing our kids to the events or participating ourselves.

Built, established and boosted

in a time as complex as the 90s.

When a generation of young people

was politically homeless

lacking in models.

And the democracy, now in free falling,

was starting to show signs of exhaustion:

Corruption cases, state terrorism,

a post-olympic financial crisis that showed precariousness,

unemployment, flexibility...

I was studying Social Education at the university

and a gorup of people and I met, boys and girls

among which there were 2 or 3 people

who had occupied the Hamsa.

That was also a consequence

of the occupation of the Princesa Cinema 2 months before

in the centre of Barcelona.

And that's when I got in touch

with all that world that was new in Barcelona.

We went in one night.

We made a hole and talked to the people outside

from a mobile phone.

We let them know that we were inside and everything was alright.

And on Saturday we organized a demonstration that concluded here.

And while they were tearing down

a part of the walled up doorway

we made sure that the place was the right one.

We prepared the building

to inaugurate the first day of work.

The pictures, the first people

coming from other districts, etc.

Since its occupation in 1997, Can Vies has received four eviction letters.

The last one was in Spring 2014, it stirred up many acts of protest and solidarity.

Can Vies has always been involved in the neighbourhoods' mobilisations.

And the joint work with other movements has allowed for sympathy and recognition

to be shown whenever there have been any threats.

The different platforms supporting Can Vies are found all over the city.

But these arise out of the great support we get from the district.

Important: Slowly, make a queue.

We want to bring down the town hall with a big queue.

Very calmly, if they let us in,

we will tell them what we are up to.

Let's stop the eviction

I wrote: "Dear Mayor, don't sell yourself".

Seven...

Exactly 100.

We are Can Vies. Resisting for 15 years.

Action Occupy TMB (original building owner, public transportation company)

Let's stop the eviction

Can Vies for the district

Are you taking us for idiots?

No to the eviction! Occupy TMB!

Against the eviction, we occupy TMB (repeatedly)

TMB, think about it! (repeatedly)

The first steps when occupying a house

are difficult and hard.

No water, no electricity, the house almost falling apart...

We had to think about projects, painting, organise meetings

make flyers, to-do lists,

coordinate with others, pick up materials, etc.

From the beginning I remember having dirty hands

nails covered with painting, torn jogging pants,

sleeping little and badly.

A lot of emotions, people visiting,

people asking, approaching us,

being the centre of attention in the neighbourhood...

The Can Vies building is the building

that was occupied illegally by various groups of basically young people.

the previous government, together with TMB representatives,

under the socialist and the green party

put forth a lawsuit

to evict the illegal occupiers.

We reached 2011

with the new government of Mayor Xavier Trias

and we found ourselves in a very difficult situation.

And with a trial in place

that ends up in the Spanish Supreme Court.

And with a non-challengeable judgement

it is the current government's responsibility to enforce it.

In a constitutional state, wether you agree with a judgement or not,

have to be enforced.

If I remember correctly, there were 3 or 4 meetings with the district councillor.

There were brief meetings

45-60 minutes long.

The organisations would always bring proposals

that didn't had to appeal

but we brought them with us

with possible arrangements to avoid eviction.

We tried to negotiate for a year and a half

with very poor results, honestly.

But the town hall tried to give options.

We even offered 3 alternatives.

It's difficult to arrange, because they do not want to talk with the administration.

You can't talk about negotiating if the mindsets are so narrow.

and there are things you cannot talk about.

For more than a year we...me personally...have been talking

trying to enter into a dialogue and to negotiate

with the people from Can Vies looking for a solution

satisfying or acceptable for them and the town hall administration.

If they don't see there's an unfair urban planning in place,

as well as a need for equipment,

and you can't address the problem from the core,

then you cannot call it a negotiation.

We would only be talking about the final enforcement of an unjust law.

But there are people, only a few,

that want to subvert the law in this case

and impose their model.

They do not want to submit to any authority

because it would go against their strategy

to protest against private property and the privatisation of culture

which has always been a fighting cause for the movement.

Therefore, a situation ensuits

in which the possibility of mediation or of an agreement are scarce,

because they have antagonising views.

For me, it wasn't neither a mediation, nor a negotiation.

That's not it.

A mediation would be

to seat down with the willingness and the time which we did not have there.

The people in charge in Can Vies

who are the ones making everything difficult nowadays,

refuses to talk with the administration.

With politicians or the government,

they refurse because they do not acknowledge you as a mediator.

How to do it then?

You let them know that the possible eviction will have its consequences

and the councillor accepted his responsibility for anything that could happen,

but that he did not understand the meaning or the value of it all:

The value that Can Vies holds in the district, socially and collectively speaking,

for the district and for Barcelona.

I repeat: We offered 3 very different alternatives.

and they only offered one: Illegal occupation

and to do whatever they want, however they want. That can't be.

I consider the demolition to be a determining factor.

During those meetings, it was never mentioned,

not even hypothetically, if they had to move out or not,

they never spoke of demolishing Can Vies. and that is provoking double.

Not only eviction, but even more so, tearing it down.

They are evicting

- You're very safe with a club, eh? Take the helmet off, son of a bitch!

Resistance, resistance! (repeatedly)

Occupation, occupation! (repeatedly)

Hitmen!

Son of a bitch!

To me, that was hurtful.

It hurt the building, and also left

a painful wound during that time.

It was a time of anger, pain, melancholy, nostalgia.

Also when I think about it, looking back,

because in the end, it is inevitable to go back 18 years.

Back then 17, but now 18 years ago.

And 18 years is half of my life.

To our surprise, when we occupied it,

we realized that there was a chapel inside.

We later learned that it had been desacralized.

We put some gas cylinders, a table,

we organized a meeting with squatters, in the middle of a church, very surreal.

At the end we decided to occupy it.

During the last 10 years, it has been the 40 and 42 of the street,

but in the beginning the social space was only that here.

I mean, of course, Can Vies has its...

Wow! Half of the church... Impressive!

Wow, man!

It looks so tiny!

It looks very tiny.

I'm not kidding, this is the old chappell.

There you can see the spots where you put the Virgin Mary statues and the altar.

This is where the altar was when we occupied it.

And underneath was the grail that was used to drink.

And it was turned into a room...

a meeting and relaxing room.

A meeting point.

And now, wow, a part is missing. It's gone.

There was a wall here and this was the dining room.

The dining room had a few benches.

For practical reasons but also for ideological ones.

We ate at a very big table, on church benches

brought by someone and no one had a chair. If one moved, everyone did as well.

It became part of the spirit, of how we wanted to live back then.

This is the entrance, with the latch we built in.

This is a recycled window.

We took a look....

and we renovated without any architectural knowledge.

We realised this was our place, we renovated, a little bit of concrete and that was it.

Can Vies has a lot of history, if you look at it this way. A lot of history.

Can Vies felt down The neighborhood is on a war footing.

After the eviction, the demolition started.

After the demonstration the excavator was burnt. The police charged against demonstrators.

Police! Out of the neighbourhood!

I pay this gasoline with my taxes, stop waisting it!

Yes, 7000 is a lot of people, but not the majority

neither in the neighbourhood nor in the city.

It's my opinion, with respect for minorities and these 7000 people.

But I don't respect neither the people that provoked the incidents

nor the people that acted irresponsibly.

The authorities demolished a self-managed, social and cultural centre

working since 17 years. It had only contributed positively to the city.

Other squatters in the city, the aggressive tourism industry,

and certain criminal groups, present in the port of Barcelona,

are given a red carpet welcome. And this plutocracy,

always in the service of power, originates a widespread popular indignation.

Lots of people have demonstrated

or have shown their support to the Can Vies movement

which doesn't belong to Sants, nor Barcelona or Catalonia

and doesn't belong to Spain either.

There is a lot of people that doesn't know what Can Vies is.

They have no idea what Can Vies is but they support an alternative movement

anti-establishment and anti-status quo.

The 60 demonstrations that took place in the region

on the day of the Can Vies eviction, or the day after

took place because the people felt attacked as citizens.

And also as participants, because people were mobilised

in these 60 districts and was participating in social spaces as "ateneus" or "casals"

they shared the premise of solidarity: "If one of us is attacked, we are all attacked"

and they felt attacked.

And the crisis has exacerbated it. It is the long-term, deep failure

of what is known as system which becomes even weaker.

Sants is one of the neighbourhoods with the highest cooperative movement

of both, workers and consumers, and it originates a network of local actors

and people involved in; there is a capillarity of this presence

of activists from different generations and Can Vies is a node within a network

because there is a lot of mobility between the people from different spaces

and it is deeply rooted in the territory.

It is a 17 years conflict.

We musn't forget that it was caused by the tripartite government

by complaining against Can Vies. It was the inability of the power

to assume that without public resources, or subsidies

aside from the institutions, public communal and city council level

there is social life and people want to organise themselves

and refuse just being viewers, consumers or voters

but rather to do things ourselves by sharing efforts.

We don't negotiate to change the world. Against social capital.

We firmly condemn the police deployment

and the police action,

the arbitrary arrests, the beating and caning,

police charges, intimidation and identification measures

and the violence against the neighbourhood.

Resistance, resistance! (repeatedly)

A neighbours assembly took place

because during that tragic week a lot of things happened in Sants

I realised that many neighbours

could not provide their opinion to the media

a number of people

that were not represented.

This assembly wasn't for neighbours against Can Vies

because the project had coexisted in the neighbourhood for 15-20 years

without any problem.

A different thing is to occupy the highway with violent demonstrations

against street furniture and heritage demanding something that we found not fair:

That the system itself should solve the problem of lack of space

but without being part of the system.

We think that wasn't compatible.

There is a logic of participation monitored, subsidised and assisted

and a logic that doesn't ask for permission to be free and doesn't apologise for it.

There should be a dialogue in Can Vies.

No matter how, but it should because it never existed.

Or almost never.

Therefore, what will Can Vies be? It will be what people want.

The Jocs Florals street is very quiet

they did some activities, they were quiet, without causing any trouble.

They say that it's open to the neighbours, but it isn't true.

The neighbors don't go to there. Only young people, friends or other squatters.

As we were young, we met there, they opened a Café

they hosted parties in the chapel

and hold workshops.

- They behaved very well. Very well. - Yes, they didn't bother here.

They did positive things that were necessary.

Terrible. There was a riot. With all containers...

It was like a battle. - Yes, burned containers...

...damaged cars. There was fear in the streets.

Some...we don't say anything because we don't want that

It wasn't right, how the council did that

all squatters thrown out...A shame!

There was a lot of fuss on the streets, the police...

And people beating the police and the other way around.

And burning things, for the rest...

I don't know... I don't agree how they did that

That mess was caused by the way the city council did it

one day, they demolished it. It's not right.

I live in Sant Medir street; there was a fire between St. Jordi and Badal

and I couldn't go home.

There was police on both sides blocking the street.

There were burned containers broken shop windows....

It was over the top and I think it wasn't caused by the Can Vies people.

They were helping, but didn't reach any agreement with the city council.

There are interests.

There might have been people there not so desirable like the people who lived there.

There are always outsiders.

But we do not have anything against these people.

For me, for example, about burning the crane

it was well deserved, you know?

There was a constant tension from 7 in the afternoon.

You know how demonstrations will end up, because we know how the police acts

and people will not just remain paralysed.

That constant tension was perceived in the neighborhood.

That was not the way to fight it. It is not my car's fault.

The neighborhood was destroyed.

We gave a deplorable image to the whole country.

It's not fair. The council shouldn't have wait so long for the eviction

Is what we all think....they shouldn't have wait... The squatters were well settled...

The squatting movement...I don't know Not paying electricity, water and living off...

Pay dude, I'm paying taxes. It pisses my off.

We are fed up with it.

They did it for nothing.

They demolished it, exacerbated the neighborhood, to leave it as it was.

With the difference that it can't be used now, it is useless.

They were very quiet...

They made their live, just like you or I do...

It's like the proverb: "Dead dogs, don't bite"

But I don't see any sense, they gained nothing.

Demolishing the building, what do you gain? Nothing.

Who is now using it? Nobody.

We are rebuilding Can Vies.

Are you already in the house? Funny!

Stickers from an alternative party, that's from the Torna.

That one is from June 28. And that one from 1999.

And these for the decriminalisation of squatting. They are stickers made of photocopies.

Some things remain unchanged.

That was the bathroom that we could see from below.

That was one bedroom.

And now it is overlooking the street.

It was overlooking the chapel, the chapel area...

...the social area. And now, yes, it overlooks the street.

It's a shock...

Well... every cloud has a silver lining.

It brightens the room, there is more daylight.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

This was the attic bedroom.

I lived in this bedroom a long time. I slept and lived here a long time.

There is nothing left. It's like...

going back to the beginning. As we painted the beams... my God!

From here you could access the rooftop and the tower

that was of course destroyed during the eviction and demolition.

But this has been rebuilt. It has been rebuilt!

That's awesome!

Wow!

We used to hung the clothes here and gave some parties...

Especially on Saint John's Eve.

And the big tower was here and ascended upwards.

As an emblem of the house, of the landscape and the neighborhood.

To destroy, only one second is needed. To build, many lives are needed.

Joint demonstration in the centre of Barcelona

We are Can Vies.

Anticapitalists! (repeatedly)

Direct anti-fascists action

After the demonstration, the police

turned away around 200 people during 3 hours

and forced some of them to be photographed with hoods on.

Which came first? The chicken or the egg?

Did the police come because of the agitation and the burned containers?

Or were containers burned because the police was watching?

There was certainly a violent reaction.

Of course, the disturbances and the street violence

using strategies on the verge of urban terrorism

that took place in some moments

were due to the actions of a minority, that's the true.

But it caused a big fuss.

I think we overcame and went through

the first criminalisation barrier regarding the violence issue

because the alternative media did a very good job.

Fortunately, at neighbourhood level, social networks and alternative media

there are critical communication projects that are doing a great job.

We understand by default that the police is there to protect us

so that things don't go beyond and ensure that street furniture doesn't burn.

Therefore we don't defend their action

but we understand that they were executing a court order.

The fact that the conflict was one week in the center of media attention

facilitated that the media needed to search for other arguments and voices.

Even more when those who accuse are the ones provoking it,

who are unable to manage the reality of the crisis differently

and the impunity of those who provoked it. And it has changed.

It has changed a lot compared to the upper area of the city.

It's not only a youth movement. They are fathers, mothers, cousins

public service workers, doctors...

People that don't care much if an ATM window is broken.

What they care about is the conditions of most citizens.

Local shops have worked on transmitting the idea

that we are not capitalists, we are not big multinationals

but small entrepreneurs that give our best

and work more than anybody else to provide for our families.

And it has got through among many social movements

and they are respecting the small local businesses.

Without minimising their supports, they are a minority

and in some cases, a kind of support that no group should accept.

Hooded persons with Molotov cocktails in their backpacks

no group should accept that kind of support.

A cynical and hypocritical discourse on violence has been built

and not on other acts of violence of that social model, which are many.

And thus, the goose that laid the golden eggs has been killed

about condemning or not with cynicism and hypocrisy.

What happened in Can Vies was one of the most serious acts

of institutional violence against the grassroots movement over the past years.

After the eviction there were 84 arrests

and 200 persons reported injuries.

More than 200.000 policemen were deployed.

The City council valued the damage at 415.000 euros.

The trials began in January 2015

with sanctions of up to 7 years imprisonment.

This was the dining room, that we have seen with little light.

This a wall which has now disappeared.

This, a bedroom which we have seen as common room.

The tower, with a greeting card I received when I lived here

That's in a patio....

I always say that time has proved us right.

When we occupied you could read on the leaflets we did

that we critized and questioned the real state bubble

the fact that politicians were enriching themselves with commissions

that there were business interests

in land and property speculation, building, etc.

The squatting movement back then

was identified with a urban tribe.

There was a clear element: A contradiction in the Spanish law

between the right to private property and housing.

A real contradiciton

still to be resolved.

But back then we were wild young people

that occupied houses

that went to other people's houses to attack private property.

And it turns out that the reasoning is the same as today, but with other words.

And it reveals that everything was real, it existed.

I think that nowadays the message is also present

and is delivered e.g. by the PAH. The Mortgage victims platform.

The message has found its way

but no one would say that the PAH is an urban tribe or that they are squatters.

Two of the biggest metropolitan infrastructures of the city are located in Sants

The Sants train station, now with high-speed railway lines.

And the enclosure of the Barcelona Trade Fair.

Secondarily, there are the neighbours needs

as the demand of infrastructures, the remodeling of the market building,

or the decent refurbishment of Can Batlló, a self-managed project, among others.

As they don't have that metropolitan dimension

of providing with resources and infrastructure the capitalist city of Barcelona

all that becomes secondary, neglecting the neighbors' needs.

The occupation that took place 17-18 years ago

was the result of a very objective fact:

The lack of space for youth organisations in the neighborhood and the district.

There was a lack of equipments for youth organisations.

Many of the equipments we have in Sants

like Plaça de Sants, Cotxeres, the Parc de l'Espanya Industrial

or even the restoration of Can Batlló for the neighbours

have not been an achievement

of the City Council's provisions

who often makes a cheap political point about it

but of the stubborn fight of the neighborhood movement

which has had to go after available resources

during 35 long years in order to get equipments

that the neighborhood needs in their daily life.

Times have changed

It's not logical to demand privileges for some groups

if the rest is struggling to pay the spaces we have.

That is changing.

As municipal government we are working since more than 3 years

providing and making spaces available to youth organisations and others.

If someone asks for a public space

some basic things must be met:

The schedules, a particular kind of activities, adressed to all citizens

to join the network of entities of the city

and you have to pay a minimum public price.

They say: "We want self-management"

Ok, no problem, they can do it... but not in my house, which is the house of all.

A municipal space is the house of all. Some neighbors tell me:

"The people of Can Vies have privatised the urban space".

They are right. The people of Can Vies have privatised a public space.

The interest of the self-management is the self-government.

Where everyone is involved in deciding.

Deciding from an economic, social and political perspective

how things should be done.

And the other perspective you are asking for

that of the Barcelona brand,

is the one of the economic interests, the big companies' interests

and the interests of the big executive boards.

The Barcelona history as the "Rose of Fire" is about a city in ongoing conflict

between the interests of the rich and the popular classes

which have territorialised and been in constant conflict.

The ones, with their cumulation interests

and the others, with their interests in covering more direct needs.

Catalunya has a strong cooperative tradition

as strong as the governments' will to break it away.

There is the same level of tension as 100 years ago

when the cooperative movement provided

important possibilities for the social autonomy.

Such models and projects are good. Of course...

In order to show that they are indeed possible

that things can be done differently.

But... it is important to say that it requires a lot of effort

and work to the persons involved.

It means going against the flow, to constantly prove

that you are honest and a hard-worker, that you are...

You have to prove far more for doing things that way.

That groups such as Can Vies that want to manage themselves

have to comply with the basic rules

nothing complicated it should be very simple and basic

it can be agreed bilaterally but there must be a minimum link

in which two parties agree in the use of that public space.

They don't deal with the administration or their activities being supervised

neither their schedules or the kind of persons they invite, etc.

That's not normal.

You can not pretend being out of the system and asking it to resolve some issues.

Unfortunately, the model is not heading that way

even though it's a bit strange

and it cries to heaven, it is like knocking on the door

until the door is broken down.

It seems that with the recession

many people have the opinion that the economic model is exhausted,

that it doesn't work anymore, we need to change the paradigm...

Yes, it's true, but nobody is looking in another direction.

They all repeat and fall in the same trap.

There is a criticism that young people don't care about politics

that we don't get involved...

And when we do politics, in-depth political actions

we are draft dodgers from an anti-military consciousness

we occupy spaces to condemn speculation

and we regenerate them from a sociocultural and popular perspective

but we get a lot of stick and are harshly criticised.

They don't know if they want conscious, critic and active citizens.

It is obvious that the authorities don't want critic, conscious and active citizens.

The district will always try

to have a hand in the management of public spaces.

Certainly, we are seeing different experiences

looking it from the distance, like Can Batlló.

The people from Can Vies are different from all citizens

and want to do what nobody else intends to do.

It can't be accepted.

David Harvey, an urban geographer, that has analysed the models

and offers a good description calling it accumulation by dispossession

explaining how the municipal authorities have been unable to influence

the logic of capital accumulation, enrichment and speculation.

The tragedy of the country was to speculate on housing prices and living conditions.

It is expensive for someone that earns 1.000 euros or less to live in Barcelona.

We need a model change

that lies in leaving behind the logic of commercialising everything

and going into the logic of a cooperative, common and social city.

If we are recognised as a city, otherwise we would be recognised as

a free port or a giant shopping centre, and not a city.

But it will never be an illegally rebuilt building.

It won't ever be!

For a long time, there was a quote in Can Vies

on a banner hanging on the façade that said:

"If you don't want to do something, one excuse is as good as another".

That's the philosophy of the self-management.

I remember attempting to change

the image they were trying to give of

linking us with fuss, riots...

rage and anger.

It was a part of the Can Vies' effect this is how it was.

But instead the work and effort weren't recognised

the use given to the space the politisation of the space,

the empowerment for the people involved

it was like a school, we learnt a lot here.

It was ignored and we had to make it public.

From that eviction, from that attack against Can Vies

against the popular organisation in Sants

has emerged an awareness, very reinforced.

Can Vies has emerged stronger from the eviction.

And with the ongoing reconstruction

it will have not only that great acceptation and protection

but it will increase.

Can Vies has won the battle.

And it's not the first one. Can Vies has won many lawsuits.

You asked if it has been rising in crescendo.

Yes, Can Vies has only grown.

Can Vies was born when the Hamsa already existed.

When there were many squatted houses that...

...and Can Vies was the little sister.

And now Can Vies

it's a benchmark not only as squat house

but also as self-management model

and a space where dreams are possible.

That's how it is.

Can Vies has a long future ahead.

It has a distant horizon.

It will be difficult that Can Vies is no longer, as it is today.

Because all onslaughts and attacks against it

and the difficulties it has faced over the past 18 years

Italian Cuisine: Italy Food Guide to Lombardy - Duration: 29:06.

Well good morning from Milano, Italia.

We are here in Italy.

It is our first day, so we have gone in search of the Italian breakfast.

Now we weren't entirely sure what an Italian breakfast looks like so we did a bit of research

and asked around and apparently it is just a coffee and anything sweet.

So that could be pastries, bread with jam, cake or cookies.

So we've sat down at a little cafe and we're going to have our first Italian breakfast.

So my beverage of choice today is the cappuccino because it is a very cold day.

And why not have some frothy coffee.

It's a cold day.

When is fifteen degrees considered cold?

Look at the way I'm dressed.

I'm cold okay?

Ooh, that is nice.

Excellent cappuccino.

Nice and rich and frothy?

Mmmm.

Indeed.

Wanna try some?

So this breakfast reminds me a bit of breakfast in France and also in Argentina.

A sweet way to start the day and I have to say it is a quite a huge contrast and change

from what we were used to in England and Ireland where we were having full savory breakfasts.

With eggs and sausages and mushrooms.

Lower calories and a lot sweeter.

And this pastry here I've selected, I honestly don't really know what it is.

What made me select it was that I saw walnut bits.

And hey, I'm a huge fan of walnuts so I don't know what is inside.

It looks like it might be apple.

Let's find out.

I thought it was going to be prunes.

Mmmm.

No, no no.

That is like pecan pie.

That's pecan filling inside.

Let's see the inside.

Oh wow!

That is so delicious.

Oh, it's like having pecan pie.

Pie for breakfast.

He's a happy boy.

And what do you have over there?

Well, this is the pastry I chose.

It is a little twisty one with chocolate chips.

That is really good.

It is very buttery and flaky.

And you just can't go wrong with chocolate chips this early in the morning.

I'm a fan.

So we're going to be here for a week in the Lombardy region and I can't wait to try as

much Italian food as possible.

It's one of my favorite cuisines.

And last but not least, price point?

Well, this delicious breakfast for two came to five Euros and that included two cappuccinos

and two pastries.

So not an expensive way to start the day.

Yeah, talk about value.

Mmmmhhmmm.

Okay guys, so I'm pretty excited about today.

We have left Bergamo behind and we're visiting a castle outside in the countryside.

It's called Castello di Malpaga and we are going to be taking a cooking class inside

a castle.

So I'm going to get ready to start cooking and Sam is going to give you a tour of the

castle so you can see what it looks like.

So this is a family owned castle.

It dates back to the 13th Century.

Let me give you a tour.

The first lesson of the day was to focus on dishes that take the longest to prepare, so

we got started with dessert- a delicious tiramisu with a modern twist!

Like that?

More aggressively.

Like that.

So I'm taking a quick break from the kitchen to tell you today's menu.

We are going to be preparing beef tartare as an entree, ravioli for the main course

and then tiramisu for dessert.

So it should be very tasty.

Let's get back to the kitchen and let's keep cooking.

For our main dish we prepared ravioli, and because this is Italy the dough had to be

made from scratch.

There were no shortcuts here and everyone was put to work kneading and then rolling

out the dough into thin layers.

What are we doing over here?

Rolling some pasta.

It requires a lot of muscle work.

More muscle than I have.

Preparing the stuffing was next.

We went with a vegetarian option, which was pumpkin.

Smashing pumpkins.

Like the bad.

Hahahaha.

So clever.

Once again, we took no shortcuts here.

Pumpkins were chopped, peeled, and then boiled, before being pressed into a paste that we

used as our filling.

The last dish of the day was beef tartare.

I skipped out since it's not to my taste, but I was told it was very tasty.

So we have now finished preparing our three course meal and we're going to go have lunch

inside the feast hall which has painted frescoes that are just beautiful.

So let's go in.

Buon appetito!

How is the food so far?

It is delicious because I prepared it myself.

I hardly did any work actually.

The truth comes out.

And now that lunch is over we get to play dress-up.

Let me lead you around my castle.

I am Queen of this kingdom.

Once we had eaten lunch, it was finally time to tour the castle - a very exciting prospect,

especially when you're dressed in Renaissance costumes.

We paraded around like kings and queens, and then explored the former home of Bartolomeo

Colleoni, who was captain-general of the Republic of Venice and earned quite the reputation

battling neighbouring city-states.

We're Kings and Queens from around the world.

And winter is coming.

Winter is coming.

So I had a lot of fun cooking, eating and playing king for a day in a castle but unfortunately

all good things come to an end and it is time for us to go back to Milan.

Well good evening from Milan.

It is our first full day here and it is now dinner time.

So we just found a local little restaurant and we're going to be trying a traditional

dish that is very popular in this city and in the Lombardy region.

We are going to have Risotto alla Milanese .

First impressions from Milan so far?

Ah, it's been great.

Especially the food.

And every time you go to a restaurant I'm looking at the menu and I'm like I want this,

I want this, I want this, I want this.

So I have a hard time deciding and I'm not even sure if we're going to get to cover everything

before we leave.

Well, tonight it is risotto.

First impressions of Italian food here in Milan?

It's been really good.

This bread I'm having right now is really good actually.

I'm already on my forth slice.

I'm a little worried because I may start to get full before the risotto actually arrives.

My Risotto alla Milanese has arrived.

And in case you're not too familiar with risotto it is basically a type of rice that is very

thick, very starchy and it absorbs a lot of liquids.

So this should be good.

It almost looks a little soupy and creamy.

And also my Risotto alla Milanese gets its color from saffron.

So saffron is a bit of a reddish orange color when it is dry but when you stick it and mix

it with the rice it turns it yellow.

So enough about that let's try it.

Surprise!

Mmmmm.

Do you like that?

Oh, wow!

That is so good.

And it is already cheesy.

I mean I know I added a lot of cheese but I think they had already melted some cheese

and mixed it in.

So yeah, very cheesy and very buttery.

You can never get too much cheese.

That is so good.

You're going to like this.

Wow.

Is it heaven?

Seriously that is amazing.

Like risotto might be my new favorite Italian food.

It's that good.

It's so good.

It is that good.

And the thing I like about this one is that it is really plain.

Like I've had other types of risotto and there is a lot of things going on.

There is a lot of different ingredients but this is just really simple.

You've got your cheese, you've got your saffron.

Yum.

Right now it is six twenty in the evening and we've basically got the restaurant to

ourselves and that is because locals would never go out to eat this early.

This is not even close to dinnertime.

I'm thinking more like eight, nine, ten maybe even eleven.

That is what time dinner is.

And we can see all of the empty chairs right behind you.

Judging by your plate I'm assuming you enjoyed it?

That is an empty plate and a happy boy.

And the price was also very reasonable coming in at seven Euros.

Great value, excellent meal.

So we've gone out for our first Italian Aperitivo.

Which is kind of like a pre-dinner drinking tradition.

Basically, you get yourself a cocktail for about 10 Euros and that gives you access to

this massive buffet of like pizzas, pastas, olives.

Anything you could possibly imagine.

And this is what comes before dinner.

So I have to admit I was expecting very simple food for the Aperitivo.

I thought maybe they would just give us some prosciutto cheese and olives.

You know, pretty cheap simple food.

But instead what we've found was this.

So I've got lasagna, I've got ravioli.

I have have stir-fried veggies.

And even french fries which are not Italian but I had to grab a few anyways since they

were available.

So how about you?

What did you get for the Aperitivo?

Give us a tour.

Well, basically I almost exactly the same as you.

The main difference being I got a huge slice of pizza and I think I got some more cold

cuts and cheese.

You know what?

All the pizza was gone when I went up there.

I think you took the last slice.

What can I say.

Alright, so I'm having a Bellini which is made with peach juice and something else.

But I can't tell you what that something else is because I just don't know my cocktails

very well.

It's good stuff right there.

Sweet?

Mmmmm.

Ah!

And it appears you've gone for something a bit more tropical.

Yeah, how can you go wrong with a classic Piña colada.

Now this looks really thick.

I'm hoping that they put a lot of coconut and not too much pineapple juice.

That's a pretty decent blend.

Yeah.

Yeah, I really taste the coconut.

I like it.

So the savory part is over.

What have we got now?

Well, it was time for dessert so I went back for seconds and they had lots of different

cakes.

And then this is really good.

I'm not entirely sure what it is but it tastes a bit like a vanilla pudding crossed with

custard.

I don't know my Italian desserts but I can tell you it is really good.

So I'm not going to share.

Okay, so final thoughts on your first Aperitivo experience.

How was it?

Well, considering we spent several nights in Milan I can't believe it took us to our

final night to actually go and try it.

We should have been doing this every night.

It's fantastic.

You get a really nice cocktail.

You get a nice spread of food and dessert too for 10 Euros.

It's fantastic value.

And what did you think of it?

Honestly, for me that was enough for dinner.

It was a lot of food.

I mean it is an open buffet so technically you can go up as many times as you want but

you don't want to be overdoing it.

Kind of like Vegas buffet style where you're just slapping the food on your plate until

you've got a big mountain.

That's not how it works over here.

But it was really good, really tasty food.

I would also recommend coming early.

Aperitivo is usually between six and ten PM.

We showed up at like six thirty and it was already quite packed so come early, get a

table and there will be more food options as well.

Good morning from Chiavenna.

It is a bit of a rainy morning but we are still very excited to be here and out exploring

because there is a festival taking place here.

Today is the day of the Bresaola and that means that we are celebrating a deli meat.

And there is lots of different stands that have been setup across the town.

So you can just wander around and sample some deli meats.

So we're going to be trying lots of food today.

It's very exciting.

And just to give you a bit of background information, Bresaola is kind of similar to prosciutto

but it is made from beef and it has very little fat.

So that is coming up in this video.

So this is a look at the map of Chiavenna and it shows where are the Bresaola tastings

are going to be taking place.

And there is fourteen different spots across the town, so I think we're going to be eating

quite a bit.

Want to try some?

Later.

Mmmm.

That's really good.

Really tasty.

We are looking for more meat.

Carnivores today!

There is only bread available right now so everyone is waiting patiently while they slice

more Bresaola.

I've got some more Bresaola.

I think by the end of the day we're going to be suffering from meat sweats.

It's so good.

It's so good, I wish I knew how to describe this properly but it is just good.

You need to come to Italy and try it.

What else can I say.

This one here appears to be a bit of a darker meat than we've tried before.

And I'm pairing it with some bread.

One big bite.

Yeah, that's awesome.

More bresaola guys.

You know lunchtime is about an hour away and I feel like I'm just walking around town eating

my appetizer.

It's pretty nice.

First impressions so far?

So what I've been noticing as we've been wandering around is that there is a lot of different

stands open selling all kinds of different things.

As you can see behind me there is rugs being sold.

Oh, so it is not just about the food.

Nope.

So the mood here is very happy, very jovial.

There are lots of different bands playing at every square around town.

I just feel bad for the puppies.

Some people are walking around with their dogs and they just look a little frightened

and startled.

Okay, and this meat appears to be a bit lighter than the last one I tried.

Again, I have the same dark bread.

It is so good I can see why they have a whole festival just based on meat.

So that is a wrap for us from the festival.

I don't think either of us has ever been to a festival that is centered around just one

particular food item.

But it was really cool, a little bit quirky and definitely one of the more interesting

things we did while in Italy.

But not for vegetarians.

Definitely not.

One of the pleasures of coming to Italy is indulging in the local ice cream known as

gelato.

Here we've each got two cones.

I've got the waffle cone over here and Audrey's going to be trying the regular cone.

We've got different flavors and we can't wait to try a taste test now.

Okay, so I went for a medium sized cone with two scoops.

The first flavor is wild berries and the second one on top is a bit unusual.

It is pear and cheese.

I've never had cheese flavored ice cream before unless it was cheesecake.

So it should be interesting.

Mmmmm.

Okay, wild berries are really good.

One more lick.

Mmmm.

Okay.

So that is the pear and cheese.

It has real chunks of pear so it is very fruity.

It has a nice strong flavor.

And you also taste a hint of cheese.

I couldn't tell you what kind of cheese it is but it is coming through.

I'm very happy with the selection.

Now tell us about the flavors in your giant waffle cone.

Yeah, so I picked two as well.

This one over here is black cherry.

Hahaha.

Is that good?

A bit of brain freeze.

I took too big of a bite.

Yeah, you can really taste the cherry.

It is very strong and over here is pistachio.

And pistachio is awesome.

It is one of my favorite ice cream flavors.

I think the only one I particularly like more is rum and raisin but they didn't have that.

So what would be the difference between gelato and regular ice cream that we're used to in

North America?

Okay, so there are a few key differences.

First up, gelato is churned at a slower rate so that means it gets less air and then it

has a thicker, denser quality.

And the second key difference is that gelato has a lower fat content which means the flavors

of the ice cream really come through.

So that is why I like gelato a lot better than ice cream.

So gelato is also served at a slightly higher temperature than ice cream meaning it melts

fast and that is why we're gobbling it down really quickly right now.

Mmmhhhmm.

Yours is already melting.

It sure is.

And how about that price point for that delicious little treat we enjoyed?

Okay, so my medium sized cone was two fifty and Sam's was three fifty.

And those prices are in Euros.

And also a gelato is really easy to find in just about any city.

Just as we were walking down the street we came across maybe like four or five different

shops, so try it out the next time you're in Italy.

So it is lunchtime here in Milan and we figured why not have pizza when in Italy.

I've only had pizza once the whole time I've been here and it was time to try a few others.

So we've been walking around the city and we walked by this one shop and we saw they

had like these extra thick slices of pizza.

It almost looked like a focaccia bread with toppings.

So we went in there and grabbed two slices.

Tell us what did you get for yourself?

So I got the one that had salami and mozzarella.

And this reminds me a lot of the pizza I had in Buenos Aires in Argentina.

These massive thick slices that you would just go into a shop and order.

And I think this is going to be delicious.

Ooh, time for the first bite.

And I like that has already been pre-sliced into small little pieces for us.

Perfect for lunch at the park.

That's really good.

Tasty?

Oh, yeah.

Oh, yeah.

Gooey cheese?

Oh, yeah.

I don't even have anything to say.

Hahaha.

What did you get on yours?

Okay, so mine has what I believe in mozzarella and some small tomatoes and basil leaves.

So it looks really good.

And I was asking the guy who served our pizza, you know, what kind of pizza is it?

What style is it?

And he called it pizza al trancio.

And I looked that up and it basically means pizza by the piece or pizza by the slice.

And as you can see it has already been pre-sliced into little portions, so it is perfect for

you know just getting it to go, having lunch at a park or eating it outdoors.

Yeah, we're having it in a park now as it just starts to rain.

So time to try this.

It looks wonderful.

Oh my goodness.

Wow!

Is that good?

Oh, yeah.

So the dough, I mean it is really thick but it also has a bit of a fluffy quality to it

and that is like a thick layer of cheese as well.

Like that is a generous amount of cheese.

Check this out?

Look at all that cheese.

It kind of reminds me of Chicago Deep Dish style as well.

So the only other slice of pizza we've had in Milan so far was the super super thin slice

of pizza.

How does this over here compare?

Well, you can never go wrong with pizza as far as I'm concerned.

But if I had to choose, one of the two, I would go with the thicker pizza.

I just love the thick dough and the generous amount of cheese.

That is just unbelievable.

And you're getting more bang for your buck so it is more food technically.

Yeah, that is true.

And how much did those two slices of pizza cost?

Okay, so that was seven Euros total for the two slices.

So about three fifty each.

Not bad for such a giant slice of pizza, I'd say.

Good afternoon from the city of Bergamo.

Today we took a day trip from Milan, we rode the train for less than an hour and we arrived

at a completely new destination.

So we've been exploring the town of Bergamo and we also learned that there is a dessert

that is very popular in this city.

And that is what I have right here.

This right here is called Polenta e osei.

And Polenta is made from corn.

It is kind of like a finely ground corn or maze.

And it is usually served in savory dishes with like a tomato sauce or some type of other

sauce.

Um, but it has been turned into a dessert here.

So we're having sweet Polenta.

And apparently the name means 'a bird' osei is meant to be bird in the local dialect.

So yeah, bird polenta.

That is what we're having today.

Time to take a bite.

Mmmm.

Bird polenta.

Mmmm.

It's supposed to be really sweet.

Is it?

I wonder if it is just polenta on the exterior because look at the inside.

It almost looks a little bit like cake.

So I wonder if it is just the yellow coating that is the polenta.

I'm not entirely sure.

And is it sweet?

Oh, very sweet.

Very sugary.

I mean you can see the granulated sugar on the outside.

Super sweet.

But yeah, it is a completely new dessert for me.

Want to give it a try?

And it is unique to here.

We later discovered that the reason it tasted so sweet is because we had a lost in translation

moment with our guide.

The dessert we tried bares the exact same name as a savory polenta dish with a bird

cooked inside.

The dessert was given this name because from the exterior it looks just like polenta but

when you bite in it is cake.

A little confusing but nevertheless tasty.

Your turn to give it a try.

Oh, he's making out with it.

Wow!

That is some kind of sweet.

What do you think?

Some kind of sweet?

It is definitely tasty.

Yeah.

That is the kind of thing that I don't think I could eat this whole thing.

It is too sweet.

It is a little overpowering isn't it?

It is.

You know, I feel quite lucky to have had the opportunity to try this today because we got

a recommendation from a local upon arriving.

And we had no idea that this even existed.

Polenta as a dessert?

Hmmmm.

Who knew?

And now I think you should try whatever is on top there.

Do you think that is marzipan?

It's a kind of chocolate.

I don't know.

What is he doing?

Yeah, I think it is.

Yeah?

It's also really sweet.

Wow.

I'm getting a bit of a sugar high right now.

Do you think you can finish all of that?

Is that like a challenge?

Oh.

Does that mean challenge accepted?

Okay, try and describe this dessert for someone who has never had it before?

Yeah, it is quite unique.

So the outer layer here, you can see it is mostly granulated sugar and polenta.

That is probably the sweetest parts.

And inside it is kind of like a sponge cake with an icing filling.

And upon further research it looks like we've found a secret chocolate layer in the middle.

Okay, so this is the dessert that keeps on giving basically.

Yeah, basically.

So in terms of price point you can pick up this dessert at almost any pastry shop inside

the old town.

It costs three Euros and I found it so sweet that you can probably split it and share it

with two people.

Skincare Holiday Haul Sephora Edition! 節日折扣狂購!- [KIKI&COCO] ENG SUBS & 中文字幕 - Duration: 14:57.

Cut one of sephora haul.. sort of skincare edition

welcome to our Channel I'm Kiki and Coco, and

today we're going to be talking about

some of like the stuff we've gotten from

Sephora over the last like month.

yeah we got a lot and we haven't filmed

it in a while so we're going to break it

up into a lot of parts. Starting with skincare.

Yea, so some of the stuff we got when we

had the vib rouge sale and some we kind of

purchase afterwards but i think you know

Black Friday, boxing day sale they

all have like different events for it.

yeah so I guess we'll just start off

with something that I've already talked

about so I don't want to talk about too

much it's the Luna this this is the mini

two and basically this time they came in a

set for like $159 but which is the price.

Yea same price as this.

Which is the price of this itself

usually but because it's, I guess their gift

set edition so they've instead given us

like two cleansers and one is for day and one is

for night. Now I've tried both them and they're

kind of mediocre. Oh, I've seen like good

reviews on Sephora from it, but i guess to

each your own. yeah like what I mean like it

cleans well but I don't...

it's not like magical or like I'm not

going to repurchase that you know that sorta

thing like that's what i mean by

mediocre so there's not much to say

about these and to be honest, I don't know why there are

day and night even like it feels similar, but

yeah so we've talked about this already

if you're curious i will link the video

down below about the video where we

talked about it but this is amazing and

it was such a good deal.

ok so my other thing is kind of a

restock and we've talked about this before

as well it is this lancome gel cream cream

it's like a gel cream cleanser but

there's nothing gel about it, it's

just like really cream. I mean, not much to say about

it cleanses really well it was in one of

our empty products so maybe we'll link that

as well!

this is great yeah it's definitely been like

one of my go-to and I ran out so why not

buy it on the sale. Cleanses well

oh yeah it lasted a long time too, just

literally a pea-sized amount would give

you enough to like wash your

face fully. Yea it's amazing, I've been

using that cleanser for like the last

like five years. Another one that we

wanted to talk about that we both

purchased is the good genes sunday

Riley and this as you can tell is the

bigger size. yeah the biggest size

that they've ever come out with and

it's more worth your value too. yea for

those of you already watch our channel

you know that i am personally obsessed

with it like I've gone through like

three four bottles of the regular size

already so with the twenty percent off

I've decided to purchase like their

jumbo size. Granted it's still a lot, cause

Sunday Riley is expensive but this is

definitely worth your value. It's probably

the only value size product on Sunday

Riley actually did come out with yeah i

mean they do like gift sets, but I

don't even use some of the products and

those gifts and all mini size too, so it's not really worth it.

like it's good if you want to try it out

but...

yeah we're not going to talk too much

about this either because we've talked

about it multiple times, but it is like you know lactic

acid, it like helps reduce fine lines...etc

We know what we like. so this is kind of just

restock almost. So next it's kind of a

last minute last day of the sale like: oh I

feel like... Oh my stomach just growled.

We're really hungry.

Last day of the sale I just wanted to

like buy it before I wouldn't be able to

get it again.

so it's these like Sephora sleeping masks. i

got like so many different types i got

avocado, pearl, algae, orchid

and lotus they all do different things and

I just love them I love them more than

traditional mask, where you have to put it on and

wait for 30 minutes because i'm lazy i

can just put it on and go to sleep just

make sure your hair is out of the way. Do you have to wash it after?

It's not recommended, you don't

need to but I mean when you wake up in

the morning you're gonna wash your face

anyways but i love these, these feel

moisturizing they're like to give you a

radiant glow depending on what it is to.

I dunno, for me nighttime masks i go to

sleep with, they don't really work

that great on me like I've tried like a

giant variety and they're a little bit

like too oily for me. Like these tend to

have a little bit of oils in them I

think usually. And I....I don't think

these ones, these are just like clear gels or

No, I've had clear gel ones too and

I kind of break out the next day just

too oily and it just like clogs my pores

or something. So I personally prefer like

sheet masks. But either way these are five

bucks and with every one, I've never able

to use one just for one session I

probably break it up to five because

you've got a lot of it too. i can just

take it out.

Oh wow really yeah because like there's

only so much you can put on your face,

that's true so it's definitely worth it

i say i think it'd be like a dollar or

less per mask or per use. which is

amazing and it's very low-maintenance if

you're like me and you don't want to

spend that much time and it's such a good travel thing

to go with too. So another thing that I

want to talk about is something that

I've never used before this is the... I'm

sure a lot of people will know about this

the Claudalie Beauty Elixir, it's extremely pricey

so I was kind of doubtful when I got

my hands on it. I was like huh maybe I should or

shouldn't but I thought like hey why not give it a

try. Might as well buy when

it's on sale otherwise just return it

if you don't like it. right? so this is their

special edition Jason Wu one. Now,

special edition meaning that there's

nothing like an ingredient changes just

the bottles changed because it's jason wu

so this is. Same pricing though, yea same price.

and so umm... this smells.. it smells kind of

like you know like for those of you

have never tried sunday riley as well

it's like that weird herbal slash like

lemon grassy like... yeah it's not like the most

fantastic smell for people and

apparently it does bother a lot of people

and this kind of like one of those

products but i'm ok with it maybe it's

because I'm used to this whole sunday

riley thing so I'm definitely okay with

this and i tend to use this to kind of

just wake my skin up especially if i'm

studying or in front of the computer for

a long time and i feel like my skin is

just gonna dry out and I just give like

three spritz of this and this is amazing

it just smells so good. I mean when she gave

it to me smell I already felt a bit

energized too yeah it's like it's almost

kind of like it's got a slightly cooling

effect as well and generally i don't

know about you but i found a direct

correlation between if products don't

smell the greatest they tend to work more

for you because they're not they're not

adding like fake stuff to make it make

it likable for you and that part

of your nose but they're actually

putting ingredients in that would be

good for your skin. So i usually I

try I'm okay with things that don't smell

the greatest but work for your skin

I mean this is this one of their like

main things that they've had for like

years and I can tell you for a fact that

because I've been to shangri-la and they

have a Claudalie spa in

Toronto and the entire spa smells like

that as well. The spa just smells like the

beauty elixir. which is like... there's a good and a

bad thing there i mean for those

people who aren't used to it, they're

gonna find it strange but I think it

smells great.

this visibly smooths features tightens the

appearance of pores provides a

burst of radiance to the complexion.

so this is really good and it's a hundred

percent natural fragrance so i would

definitely really might recommend this

if you can you know afford to spend

little bit for something like

this. For sure, moving on,

so next is not much of a skincare but

more of a maintainace thing for your for

your... well I guess it can direct to skin care

because you do need to take care of your

brushes for your skin to be good but there

there we go

It's this cinema secrets makeup brush

cleaner and I got to show you later cause

this is amazing but I wouldn't recommend

you doing it often. you still gotta wash your

brushes but what it is it's kind of like a

quick fix right? Yea a quick fix, a brush cleaner that you

put your solution here you dip your

brushes and all the makeup dirt will

come off and you wipe it off and a

towel. It's very effective and it smells

like vanilla which is really good

yeah oh so you're definitely gonna try

that out maybe we'll have a video on

brush cleaning so we can show this to

you but i'm really liking this.

Wow now I'm curious. The one thing i don't

like is the pouring it's not a..

there's no spout or anything so sometimes i

do spill a small amount but that's like a

small price. that's true

something about i also want to talk

about it's just like a re-purchase and

because there was the twenty percent off

so i decided to kind of go crazy

these are the shisedo facial cottons and i know you see

this one package here but trust me i bought

like four. yeah I was like...

we go through these quite a bit and they

are great i mean i can even like when I

have leftover sheet mask fluid, i can

actually put this, dip one of these into

the fluid it'll soak up the fluid and I

just I just like gently tear it into

like two separate pieces and then I can just

like use it as a quick sheet mask

I mean it sounds crazy to invest in

designer facial pads. But trust me, these are different.

exactly, these actually are different

i was skeptical because my mom has been

using me since like I can remember as a

little girl. And I used to be like why is this Lady

spending eleven dollars on a bunch of cotton

Like has she gone cuckoo or

like what's happening but now

that I've discovered these, well not discover these

But now that i've actually

given them a try i can kinda see why they're so

expensive I mean you don't i don't see

why they're so expensive but... well sort of

but it's a higher-quality you don't get

much fall out from cotton and you know how

it sometimes when you have like your normal

cotton balls and you have to pick out the

little threads of cotton stuck on. There's

none of this. This is great and it's so gentle

yet it kind of somehow exfoliates, just a tiny

tiny bit. So I'm in love with these

so I've decided to like buy a whole bunch

why not when they're on sale?! Exactly,

like what other chance am I going to get.

So the last one it's not really much of a

skincare again but i just wanted to even

it out because she has a lot of skincare.

It's something I've always been after. And it's the my

burberry signature perfume. At first I

figured maybe I should get the festive

one because it's the time for it but

something about like having sparkles in it...

I feel like it would just clogs the whole

spray by itself. Oh really? well I never

thought of it that way and it also takes

away some product because that's not

perfume. That's true. So I love it

It just comes in um... I'd like to say Ebony,

I don't know what this material is. But I see it often.

Yea it's very nice and sturdy its kind of marble like.

It has Jasmine notes I don't know

what else it smells like iris to me. Well

like a mixture of all, yeah no like

it smells like it's got iris in there.

A very nice, feminine, sexy smell and it lasts a

while. the next day I'll still smell it on

it. That's the thing about a lot of

yeah that's the thing about a lot of designer

perfumes it's they do have

quite a good lasting power usually so I

i can see why people tend to invest a

little bit more in designer perfume. so you're

getting what you pay for

yeah okay last thing we want to talk

about for skincare is this product that

i got a sample of, and I was like I

need to go buy this, I need to go buys this.

This is like fantastic!

oh yeah she's been... but she's been

talking about it for like months and

I was like just go buy it already!

yeah and i was like no, this is so

expensive I'm gonna wait until I get a

discount and I finally did

So this is the Tatcha like polish

classic rice EH! classic rice enzyme

powder and it's great because it

does give you a little bit of a

exfoliant but it's not the type that you

would get wax beads. It doesn't feel like

that at all. It literally just feels like

rice powder that you would basically put

like a teaspoon in your hands add some water

make some bubbles and you'll feel this like

really fine like mist like texture and

then your'll just wash your face and your complexion

it's instantly clearer, its brighter, its

like more smooth and it's more natural i

think as an exfoliant for you skin. For sure.

Although I gotta say I've never had a product

like that where it's a powder form and I

had to like mix it myself. Well i know

I've know about this type of product for

a long time because apparently it's been

very kind of popular in Japan the whole

rice enzyme thing and I've heard about a

lot already, but I've never seen it in a

North American brand yet and if you

watch their like kind of brand story. Isn't it Japanese?

No it's actually like I think

the girl is like the the lady who

created the brand don't quote me on this

She's like from the states and then she had traveled to

Kyoto, Japan where they have a

lot of geishas and I don't if you know about

geishas but they have like a {Coco: flawless}

Flawless, full face of makeup though and

super white. So how they take

care of that is

very very important and apparently rice

enzyme they used rice water like when

you wash your rice and then you cook it

they leave the water and then they use

that water to wash your face. My mom was actually

saying you can wash your face with like

rice water. yeah a lot of people a lot of

old asian people do that

apparently. That's how they maintain your skin

and so she had taken those Japanese

geisha ideas and then she had devolved

into actual recipes for her skincare

line and that's how she came up with

tatcha and so I that's where the Japanese

part comes from but basically open this

yeah so it's in here like this you open it

up. The packaging is so pretty too

yeah they use papyrus on every one of their information

sheets too. Which is expensive by the way.

Because they have to hand make that. it comes

like this and this is the papyrus she's

talking about. And basically it just come in a

package like this. and when you open it

so pretty when you open it, you'll see

that it looks like this. Now it's not that you

twist the lid and there's another like

layer. it's literally you just plop this

part open and use pour a little bit in your

hand and then you add water with that. but

this works so well. So for those of you

have sensitive skin but still want to

exfoliate because you have to. i would

definitely recommend this product

ok so that's it for the skincare

portion of our Sephora haul. And please

watch out for next week when you see our

makeup section our insane makeup
