SOCIAL IN 60 by KUBB&CO.

Hi, I'm Sebastian, from Kubb&Co., and this is Social in 60.

Snapchat is now changing its stance on user data.

Thanks to a new deal with Oracle's Data Cloud, Snap Inc. will now let advertisers use data from offline purchases to serve more relevant ads on Snapchat.

Brands will be able to target 100 different customer demographics, while also measuring whether their Snapchat ad campaigns result in real-world sales.

We hate to break it to you - Facebook, Amazon, and Google are watching us. And not just online.

For example, when you click a Google search ad, cookies are placed on your phone.

The cookies are then matched to your email, which you probably have linked to other online and offline activities.

So, Snapchat is basically catching up.

Snap has lagged behind in advertising tech for years, so they've made a huge effort to change this.

In June they launched a new API to let advertisers automate buying ads, and in September they rolled out Snap Audience Match,

which lets brands sync their data, email lists, mobile device IDs, etc…with Snapchat's user data.

Wait, isn't this exactly what Snapchat promised not to do? Yes!

Back in 2014, Snap's CEO said that advertisers go too far when they stalk people around the web and that Snap would never be "creepy."

What do you think of the new Snapchat policy? Let us know in the comments below.

That's been Social in 60. See you next time.

Musical Rhetoric in Strauss's DON JUAN, Op. 20 - Part I - Duration: 7:49.

MUSICAL RHETORIC IN RICHARD STRAUSS'S DON JUAN, OP. 20 – PART I

To understand the role that dramatic music plays in media one must study earlier musical

forms.

These include the opera and ballet.

The concert overture.

The symphonic poem and its musical offspring, the tone poem.

Also, the incidental music composed to back spoken-word performance in the theatre.

Let's Define Two Terms: #1: Program music – which has nothing to do with computer

software – is defined as music which follows a non-musical program.

The program is often of literary or artistic inspiration, say, a poem, story, or painting.

So the music of those earlier forms had some sort of extra-musical inspiration.

[#2: Rhetoric] A literary term – notice the constructive aspects of the dictionary

definition of "rhetoric."

Let's apply it to a kind of musical composition that conveys an image – think story, poem

or painting – and is effective or persuasive at doing so with music alone; no words uttered.

Those of us in the business of making music for film, television, and some games – media

that tell stories – have much to gain from studying such music.

We begin by looking at the musical rhetoric in Don Juan, a 19th century piece of orchestra

music, by the German composer Richard Strauss.

Don Juan by Strauss is a type of program music called a tone poem.

One music dictionary states that "There are two kinds of program music: that which

is good music regardless of the program, and that which is poor music although it may have

an interesting program."

Well, the four-hundred-year-old legend of Don Juan is certainly "an interesting program"

if history be the judge!

A complete index of everything ever written about this character – books, treatises,

plays, poetry, musical works, and movies – the index alone would fill a huge book.

As to the value of program music, that music dictionary asserts [quote] "There is a certain

weakness inherent in the underlying principle of program music.

Music is basically an art in its own right, and too great a reliance on extraneous associations

is likely to weaken rather than to enhance the artistic value of a composition."

[end of quote] What does this mean?

Some have fanatically taken a stand either for or against the essence of that statement.

Since the 19th century the debate has raged over which type of music is superior: "absolute

music" (which has no outside inspiration) or "program music" which does.

Even today, talented composers of music for film, video games, and other media are sometimes

marginalized and shamed by so-called "purists" of the concert hall, saying that "music

for the screen" is inherently inferior.

Back to Richard Strauss.

We consulted a number of scholarly works for help in researching this topic.

Two books in particular stood as pillars and are referenced in the description box.

First of all, for interpreting Don Juan, the tone poem, there is …

… James Hepokoski's essay "Fiery-Pulsed Libertine or Domestic Hero?

Strauss's Don Juan Reinvestigated."

That piece is published in Richard Strauss: New Perspectives on the Composer and His Work,

Bryan Gilliam, editor.

Its insights on the form and substance of the Strauss work were the launching pad of

this presentation.

To determine the rhetorical use of various orchestra instruments heard in the Don Juan

score – their emotional coloring – Strauss's own revision of Berlioz's Treatise on Instrumentation

provided guidance, with comments by the composer himself, and musical examples.

Form is an Element of music.

It is the organizational outline that sets the structure of a composition.

Form is analogous to an architect's ground plan.

There are simple musical forms, such as rondo (ABACABA), fugue, minuet, scherzo, sonata

and even rondo-sonata.

There are more complex musical structures, such as symphony, concerto, the mass, cantata,

oratorio, also opera and ballet.

In various degrees, all these forms contain dramatic elements that are capable of effectively

communicating feelings associated with a literary "program."

For example, the sonata form – often associated with "absolute" or "pure" music – may

present contrasting or conflicting themes and tonalities.

The themes, like characters in a drama, develop dynamically over time, and are ultimately

reconciled in some way.

The sonata form IS thus a dramatic program.

[mus]

The composer Richard Strauss, born in 1864, in Munich, Germany, began writing music

at the age of eight.

In middle school, Strauss studied composition from age 11 on, under Friedrich Wilhelm Meyer,

the music director at the Ludwigs-Gymnasium.

[mus]

By 1887 Strauss was giving singing lessons to one Pauline, eldest daughter of

Major-General Adolf de Ahna.

Pauline becomes an opera singer, and Strauss and Pauline eventually marry, in 1894

[mus]

In 1888 Strauss had composed his first published tone poem, Don Juan.

Actually, a piece called Macbeth was the first, but due to revisions Macbeth wasn't performed

until 1890, after the first performances of both Don Juan [1889] and another called Tod

und Verklärung [1890].

Like its namesake, Don Juan is a chameleon, its illusory musical form seems to change

throughout the course of the work.

The piece runs on 'wheels within wheels', three discernible super-structures: 1) a Rondo,

2) a Sonata, and 3) a cyclical Symphony of four-movements-in-one.

All three structures unfold at the same time.

It is astounding, when you think about it.

Subsequent installments of this series will ponder which came first in the mind of the

composer: the literary program or the musical design.

We will consider the "musical rhetoric" observed in both program and structure.

Since there are so many non-musical, literary elements associated with Don Juan, does it

necessarily follow that these weaken its musical value?

More to the point: Is the artistic value of music created for film or games somehow inferior

to music for the concert hall, merely because it is made for those media?

Throughout this series we offer a response to that condescending view, held by some,

toward 'media and film music'.

A link to a YouTube performance of Don Juan is in the description box below, so be sure

to listen to the piece before going on.

[mus]

Thank you for watching.

Now, standby for Episode One. [to be continued]

E 75 - Live Oaks - Encounter

top tier game

massively top tier

still on the way grinding the 128mm

with arty in play and Encounter mode

I am heading to the town

where I can maximize the advantage of my armor

the E 75 in this kind of matchmaking

can be invincible when sidescraping

er...driving like a potato

majority of our team went 9-0 lines

which is definitely not ideal

enemy light tank stepped into the cap

good game team

FIVE heavies pushing into the town

luckily the Conqueror decided to stick with me

but he is not fully upgraded as well

bit of a potato shot there

never sit in front of tier IX heavies like that

In Encounter mode, you can stop the clock by stepping

into the cap

oh well, T-54 is here

I am in a very bad spot

M103 spotted and someone just smashed him

my platoon mate in his arty also clicked on the T-54

prepare to sidescrape

WTF!?

didn't know this house was destructible lol

but doesn't matter, this guy is dead

first kill in the cap

Another M103, not fully upgraded but with a 120mm

someone just shoot me in the butt

rush to take the corner and sidescrape

but I know he has fired and I can put one in first

now sidescrape

M103's lower plate is weaker on the side

I know he can't pen me so I don't have to repair

but someone just shoot me in the side

clean shot on the Tiger II, took it, maximize DPM

T29 flanked around, Conqueror is still daydreaming

GO AWAY DUDE

also ate a shot in the turret from the M103

see here I shoot the centre of lower plate and bounced

but again, my tracks absorbed his return shot

Sidescraping 101 here

T29 bounced a clean side shot off me LOL

nice tactics dude, die.

my turret didn't turn quick enough though

T-54 creeping up on me, I didn't daydream

ate a shot but finished him off

M103 rush me and BOUNCED

stop auto-aiming, noobs

well, fail.

but I lost count how many shots this M103 bounced

this shot is safe as I know I reload faster

and that was the 4th kill in the cap

not very sure I can pen at this angle but I hit the tracks

I aim for turret top as the Tiger II is angled down

my tracks again absorbed his shot

should have waited, but anyway

don't know why I switched to HE here

anyway SU-152 finished the job

and I have no chance to get to the last light tank

2,710 blocked, pretty decent

first time getting this medal

Thanks for watching!

DICAS DE BELEZA MORANDO EM NOVA IORQUE. - Duration: 7:11.

Hello guys, everybody has a princess day. Today is mine.

Today I will give you some beauty tips and a few things that I do in New York, come with me.

Today I'm getting my eyebrow done, because I really need it and I am also getting a haircut and make up.

This is Rayron, photographer, cameraman, he is everything.

The love of my life.

They make your eyebrow with line

I already know that they have this in Brazil , I am not thinking they are not updated, because they are super updated.

I prefer hair removal using line instead of wax, because it prevents from flaccidity and it's super fast and it doesn't hurt.

I just made my eyebrow, look at it. I like it thick. Look how nice it is.

This place knows how to do eyebrows. See if you like it.

Now I'm going to get my haircut, cut off that mane.

Sunny day, central park.

That's it.

She already knows, we are from a blog, youtube.

We are arriving at sephora, to get my make up done. It got such a short time. I was late to get my haircut. It was crazy.

But I coming back, to get my blowdry.

One of good things about sephora is, they have a service you buy $ 50 in products and receive full face make-up.

So today I'm getting an amazing make up, full face at sephora. I hope you like it.

We are going to show all the process.

So guys I'll start soon my make up. They allow me to get my makeup, even though I was late.

Then I'll show you the types they do. I want it super natural, as I am doing a video.. I don't it to be too much.

You will see it. Pretty natural, like I don't even have makeup on.

These are the Mine Makeovers, this one they only do certain parts of your face, not the full face, this one is free.

I asked to get this makeup, thais is really natural. I love it, is beautiful.

I am getting ready.

This device is the one that sees which is the best foundation for your face. Nothing better than that.

She puts it on my forehead, cheek and neck, just to make sure is the right one.

Then she gets the number from the device and put it into the computer, and the computer let us know which ones are the best foundations for my skin type.

With this number you can check it at home too.

I just finished it and It looks really natural. She did an amazing job.

Qual e o seu nome?

Eu sou a Tai.

E ela usou essas sombras.

Incrível, muito obrigada!

I just got my make up done, this is how it looks, see if you like it.

I put the foundation and she made my eyes.

I have to be careful, because its cold and I am almost crying.

Rayron - Say something

I am here again.

We are here now to blowdry my hair, I didn't do it before, because I was late to get my makeup done.

Now I am ready. My hair is done.

E esta e a Gina.

Venha visitar o Lackcress Salon, nos estamos localizados na 473 W Amsterdam, entre as ruas 82 e 83. Venha nos visitar, tchau.

Ela fez um otimo, otimo trabalho. Eu amei.

I am so sick of this

I shouldn't have come down

Vodicek will be a professional booster

Oh, thank god

Finally

Do we take this?

Okay, good

All three of us?

Let's go from behind

We strike hard

Ready?

Jerks

What do they have?

Nothing

Now the corner?

I'd put two C4s there, there's only gonna be a cupboard

Wait, it.. they don't have..

They have cupboard, I am 100000% sure

If not, I am unsubscribing

Okay

Deal, if yes you will create two accounts and subscribe to me

Nice explosions

I cleared it, so authorize and I will block it

Or not

We could dig through there

So, I heard you're creating two accounts

I'll have two more subs

Sh*t, they have building priviledge here

Up there?

Yeah

F*ck

Boost?

Give me a boost?

Well, idk what to do now

Okay, boost, but that will be difficult

Wait

Go away now

Okay

Oh, good, I can build this

That means...it's.... quite... okay

Not there

- Like this? - Yeah

Jump

Wait

Why are you shooting?

He's dead

He killed him

They're stupid

They've got everything covered

They built the base really well

I won't be able to do much here

The wall with door and the one next to it..

Yeah, I know

Don't kill yourself

Sure

Oh, sh*t

Oh, sh*t

They are sleeping and full geared

They have so much. I could've been fun if they were playing

Can I throw the loot to you?

Yes

Just don't climb out of the window

Don't you dare

Here, here

Now you could go here, Vodicek, get out

For 4 rockets

Kappa

One cupboard to rule them all

One cupboard to find them

So, what do they have here?

Hatch. Perfect

You have to jump through the window

This is all I can build

I am not good at this

Wait, I'll make it easier for you

Come here, I'll crouch

Jump at me

Jump

Oh, nice, nice

Over here

Loot them, especially the dead one

Vodicek, take the best gear

The gear that they're wearing

Instead of the sh*t you're wearing now

Okay

Wait, I am not authorized

That doesn't matter

Does it?

What do we need to do?

Maybe this door?

Wait, listen

No, dig...

We get there and destroy this door

Okay, good idea

Come here

Sh*t

Nice, nice

Come here

..didn't say that

That's much easier

Come here and jump at the same moment

Up here

You have to get here

And jump!

With 3 people..

Oh, hello there

Didn't think that would actually work

Why did you hurt me so much?

That's sh*t

Easy

Okay

I'll build up

This will be jackpot raid

Hello there

It's empty

You should look into the other one

Sh*t

There's a tower, put sleeping bags behind it and go

What tower?

I meant to say a wall

F*ck

I'll cover you

Bastard

Headshot

I can run to the wall

You can shoot

Give us all your sh*t and we won't raid you

Did you go closer?

Yeah, we went closer

Few explosives

Sediment, will you boost me?

I'll throw two C4s to the middle for cupboard

And that's it

Weird base

Watch out from upstairs

Vodicek, take cover

I am here

This is a weird base

Yeah, probably

I'll throw two C4s there

Did he jump down?

Careful, so the C4 doesn't kill you

Now the whole server knows we're here

Vodicek, will you boost me?

A naked guy!

Wait, sleeping bags

You can stand, this is not CS

Did you get him?

Yeah

What is this?

Oh, no

Will you boost me?

Yes

I am the boosting guy

I am down!

He's down, take the sleeping bag and let's go

Will you boost me?

Boost

..some guy running around the base

Don't let him loot me

Sure

No problem

Cover his body

Find my AK

Yeah

Sh*t

I want that

He'll run there, so don't kill him

Sediment

I've got a torch

You are naked with a torch, right?

Yeah

Good, I have the hatchet

Will you give me the AK?

Yeah

I'll put it on the foundation

Did you take it?

He's dead

How did you?

Hello there

THis is quite a jackpot

You have to crouch during jump

How fast?

Wait, I'll..

I'll build a ramp for you

But idk how

Oh, easy

That's possible

lol

I'll take some metal

There's lots of stuff, boys

This was a nice raid

I'll take some stones

SMG body?

Yeah, sure

This is nice. High quality

Smelt, and stuff

They're probably gonna cry

Let's open this

Powerful Panel Discussion Tip #85 with Glenn Thayer: Advice for Panel Moderators - Duration: 1:29.

Glenn, what advice can you give to other panel moderators who are really trying to "up

their game"?

Do your homework and really get agreements.

Do your homework, get agreements from the panel members so you know how you can manage

it and really really work with the meeting owner, and the person that brought you in,

in advance to do some pre-productions to look at options on what's going to work best

and serve your audience.

Audience members are diverse and they expect different things.

So the question is, you have to look at, does this particular format that they want to use

serve the audience?

Is this going to make it to where they want to go?

"Oh it's another panel discussion.

This is terrible.

I don't really want to.

I hate panel discussions."

Or is going to be something that they would go, "That was awesome.

I learned so much because I felt like I was a part of the conversation."

So really work with your meeting owner.

That is really it.

Pre-production with the meeting owner to make sure you've got the right fit, agreements

around everybody and I know there was one more that I went through because I'm doing

this backwards, research.

Views of the world - Iceland - Duration: 1:55.

Hi everybody! I'm Luca Stendardi, I'm 23 and I'm a photographer from Roma

Today I'd like to talk about my project called "VoW", which is also a social project than a simple photography one

In fact, its aim is to sensitize new generations, as well as mine, to a different and responsible tourism

because I firmly believe that creating a connection between population is the best way to make the world a better place to live in

The project will consist of diverse travels. Iceland is the first destination

On 14th March, me and my travel companion Giovanni are landing in Reykjavik.

Following the Ring Road, we're going to go towards est as far as Vatnajokull, which is the biggest glacier in Europe and also a national park.

On the Ring Road, we will see amazing landscapes:

waterfalls, ice caves, geysers.

We will backpack and I will bring with me the bare essentials camera equipment.

We will travel only by public transportation, on foot or hitch-hiking.

We won't stay overnight in hotels nor in hostels, we will sleep in our tent or in someone's house that will host us.

Why am I asking for a financial support?

Because from funds we'll be able to rent a four-wheel drive to explore some areas which are almost inaccessible in March

and to support the setting up of a photo exhibition that I'll organize in Rome, at the end of the journey.

So...thank you for the support, I hope you'll like my project. See you in Iceland. Bye!

Thank you for watching.

Now, standby for Episode One. [to be continued]

Tutorial Katarina's Blades Eclypsia - Duration: 4:11.

hello, we are here today to show you the Katarina's Blades Tutorial

Made with foam

We begin to draw the blades and note all the products we need

Then, we draw the blade on real size on paper

We draw the details too

We cut the blade form in foam density 125, 5mm thickness

We cut also a sillon to place a threaded rod to make foam stronger

We cut also 2x the form of a 10mm foam

And we glue it on each part of the 5mm foam

With a scalpel, we give the blade's form

and we smooth with a sander

When we make an weapon only with foam, we need high density foam

That's why we use here only 125 density foam

We cut the details in the pattern

then, in 2mm foam

For the handle, we stick 2 part of 10mm foam

Do not forget to make the sillon for the rod

And we cover it with synthetic leather

We sand the guard

We stick all the details, on each part of the blade

with hot glue or neopren

With gesso, we smooth the blades

then we make a coat of black acrylic

With guilding wax in "silver"

We paint the sharp part and the details

We stick the blade and the handle on the rod

with hot glue

And we have finished !

You can see this blades on Eclypsia's lives

We meet again very soon for the next video !

How to Drink: Jersey Sunset - Duration: 3:31.

- This is How to Drink,

the show about making cocktails

and how to drink them.

I'm Greg, and I have never been a professional bartender.

I've never even had a job in a bar.

I don't worry too much about precision

and technique because at the end of the day,

if the drink you like is in the glass,

we did it right.

Let's get going.

Let's make a Jersey Sunset.

This is a variation on a Sling from like the 1890s.

I don't think I've ever seen this served anywhere.

I'm from New Jersey though so...

Think of it like a classier Tequila Sunrise.

We're gonna do a half an ounce of Gomme Syrup

for this drink

Uh, we're gonna do two ounces of Apple Jack.

In this case, this seven and a half year old

Laird's Apple Brandy.

A lot of people don't know that prior to prohibition

the most popular distilled spirit in America

was Apple Jack.

As a matter of fact, the entire slogan

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away,"

was invented by, basically ad men,

on behalf of the apple grower's industry

because the only function for apples at the time

was to make cider and Apple Jack.

So they came up with the idea that apples were healthy

and that an apple a day would keep the doctor away.

And there we have apples,

and the idea that you should eat them

and not drink them.

We need a twist of lemon for this drink.

Uh, for a couple of reasons

because of the way this drink gets built,

I'm going to twist it over the mixing glass

and not the serving glass.

That's pretty good.

As a matter of fact, I'm going to throw that

right into the mixing glass in this case.

I'm gonna fill this with cracked ice and give it a stir.

(upbeat jazz)

I have my Sling glass ready.

I'm gonna strain this over it.

(jazz music)

The reason it's called the Jersey Sunset

is because of this float of bitters

that we're going to add to the top of it

that's going to cascade down, hopefully.

Hopefully.

(upbeat jazz music)

The original recipe calls for the use of Angostura Bitters.

I'm using the Creole Bitters from the Bitter Truth.

One, I love the taste of these bitters.

I often at night after work,

I just have some Creole Bitters and seltzer.

I'm actually running kind of low.

Uh, and, also I really thought that the

super bright red color here would be perfect for this drink.

Let's give it a taste.

I'm ready for this.

(jazz music)

That is a fun drink.

That's kind of like nothing else I've ever had.

I mean, that's really really really unique.

You really get the apples.

This is a great autumn drink.

It's a Jersey Sunset.

It's a classy drink for a classy state.

Uh, and it is though, because we call it Apple Jack,

but it's Apple Brandy.

You know, this stuff is not

armpit of the country booze juice.

This is legit stuff.

Hey, thanks for watching the show.

If you like it, I hope you'll subscribe.

I like to respond to your comments so leave me one.

Tell me what you think.

If you've ever had a Jersey Sunset

served a different way, or made a different way,

let me know.

If you hate the way I did it,

or the fact that I substituted Bitter Truth Bitters

for Agostura, you can let me know about that too.

The community at r/cocktails on Reddit

has been enormous for the support of this drink.

Thank you, so, support of this drink?

Support of this show.

Thank you so much.

I love hearing all of your comments.

Thanks for watching.

I hope you'll stay tuned,

and we'll make another drink for you guys next week

here on How to Drink.

Boy was that goofy.

That was dumb.

(clicks) Eh buddy, eh buddy!

9 Things You Didn't Know About the Syrian Refugee Crisis - Duration: 11:51.

It's been called the world's worst humanitarian crisis since World War II.

Here we present 9 things you didn't know about the Syrian Civil War refugees.

Number 9: History Syria is a Middle Eastern country with a rich

history, and was home to some of the earliest civilizations known to man.

Since the 1960s, Syria was taken over by the Socialist Ba'ath party in a military coup,

which subsequently led to the Assad family ruling over the country as ruthless dictators.

In 2011 the Arab Spring happened, which was a revolutionary wave of demonstrations, protests,

and conflicts across the Arab world that resulted in the toppling of authoritarian regimes and

government changes in some Arab countries.

In Syria, however, the Assad regime refused to step down and chose to commit a violent

crackdown on its people.

This resulted in a bloody civil war that has continued to go on for six years.

Due to the country's many different ethnicities and religious affiliations, various armed

groups have been formed that fight each other in changing coalitions.

The worst result was the rise of ISIS, an extremist military jihadist group that took

the opportunity to ensue more chaos and establish a totalitarian extremist Islamist state.

War crimes, torture, and mass executions are repeatedly committed upon innocent civilians

leaving the people of Syria with no choice but to flee their country as refugees.

Number 8: European Response Losing hope of the situation in their country,

many Syrians sought to seek refuge in Europe.

However, things were not that easy as Europe was ill-prepared in receiving a sudden influx

of asylum seekers.

Passing European borders was difficult, as the EU had invested billions of dollars in

defenses, high tech security, and patrols in safeguarding their borders.

When arriving in the EU, a Syrian asylum seeker would have to first stay in the country they

arrived in.

This puts enormous pressure on coastal countries like Greece who initially receive most of

the refugees who arrive by sea, as they themselves are suffering an economic crisis.

The result was thousands of desperate people left to starve on Greek islands with very

little aid.

The border states continued to struggle as many European neighbors refused to take in

any refugees.

Reports by the UN's human rights chief claim that some countries like the Czech Republic

were holding migrants in terrible jail like conditions.

Hungary erected a 4 meter high fence on its border with Serbia to curve the inflow of

migrants.

In 2013, Sweden became the first EU member to grant permanent resident status to all

refugees, as well as the right to family reunification.

Germany has opened its borders widely since early on, and now has over a million Syrians

taking refuge there.

The UK, France, and Italy have also accepted refugees, to a limited degree.

Number 7: At Sea One of the most popular - and dangerous - routes

that Syrians take to flee their country is the sea.

The Mediterranean serves as a direct connection between Syria and mainland Europe.

However, the voyage is not that simple.

Many travel on small and weak vessels unsuitable for the long journey, with little supplies

and safety devices.

Throughout 2014, the Italian government commenced Operation Mare Nostrum, a naval and air operation

to search and rescue refugees who were stuck in the Mediterranean Sea.

At least 150,000 migrants arrived safely to Europe thanks to the operation.

However, Operation Mare Nostrum became politically unpopular and the expenses were costly.

The UK lobbied to have the operation stopped altogether, saying that it encouraged more

migrants to take risky voyages.

Italy unsuccessfully requested additional funds from other EU countries, and the operation

ended on October 2014.

It was replaced by Operation Triton which operates on a much smaller scale, and focuses

more on border protection along the Italian coast.

Since the termination of Operation Mare Nostrum, the death rate among migrants to Europe in

the Mediterranean has increased nearly tenfold.

In September 2015, the perception of the world about the Syrian refugee crisis suddenly changed

because of a little boy named Alan Kurdi.

Number 6: Alan Kurdi Alan Kurdi was a 3 year old Syrian boy of

Kurdish ethnicity who was among the thousands of refugees who fled Syria in 2015.

He and his family stayed for a while in Turkey as refugees and hoped to join their relatives

in Canada.

However, the Canadian government denied their application for asylum.

In early September 2015, the family of four which included Alan, his 5 year old brother

Galib, and both their parents, boarded a small inflatable boat at night to reach the Greek

island of Kos.

The unsteady waters caused the boat to capsize, and the two young children along with their

mother drowned to death.

The bodies were discovered on Turkish shores the following morning by locals, and the little

corpse of three year old Alan was photographed with his face down at the water's edge.

The heart wrenching photo quickly went viral, prompting national debates and increased coverage

about the Syrian Civil War and its refugee crisis.

Germany announced that it would take in any Syrians seeking asylum without exception.

Alan's death also impacted the Canadian federal elections in 2015, as it was the Canadian

government, which denied the family asylum in the first place.

Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party that promised to bring in more refugees won the majority,

defeating the Conservatives that had been on the government bench for nine years.

Number 5: Omran Daqneesh Almost a year after Alan Kurdi's picture made

international headlines and shook the world, another Syrian boy named Omran Daqneesh became

a symbol of his country's suffering and resonated worldwide.

The 5 year old Omran was injured in August 2016 in what is said to be a Russian Air Force

strike on a rebel held neighborhood in Aleppo.

Images of the bloodied and stunned boy after he was pulled from the rubble of the apartment

building he lived in gained media attention, causing worldwide outrage and featured in

newspapers and social media.

The boy suffered a wound to the head, and was later treated in a hospital.

His 10 year old brother was not so lucky, having been killed in the air strike.

The Chinese and Russian governments, both allies of the Assad regime, called the images

rebel propaganda.

Number 4: Fears Although many people in the West have taken

action in bringing in Syrian refugees, most of the support comes from civilians rather

than politicians.

There are many things that Westerners fear about the refugees such as the entry of radical

Islam, high birth rates, crime, and the collapse of established social systems.

Europe and North America are used to receiving economically motivated migrants, but they're

not used to being overwhelmed by refugees.

Islamophobia has not ceased since 9/11, especially with the rise of ISIS and renewed terror attacks

in the West.

Germany and France are two countries that are usually on the receiving end of blatant

terror attacks.

Still, statistics have shown that nearly all Islamist terror attacks are conducted by native

European born citizens rather than immigrants.

Far right political parties and organizations have for the past few years gained popularity.

These groups are often accused of fueling fear and hatred towards immigrants especially

Muslims and refugees.

Populist far right politicians have made anti-Muslim comments when discussing their country's immigration

and border policies, and hate crimes such as arson have been attempted in several countries.

Number 3: Numbers Back in 2011 before the start of the civil

war, Syria had a population of 22.4 million people.

Today, more than 300,000 have been killed, and only about 10 million Syrians - which

is less than half of its original population - still live in their homes.

Over 6 million people are internally displaced within the country, either in refugee camps

or have moved to a safer place.

Another 4.8 million Syrians have left the country altogether.

Turkey has taken in the most refugees, with 2.7 million Syrians currently residing there.

There are about 1.3 million each in Lebanon and Jordan, and a few hundred thousand more

in Egypt and Iraq.

90 percent of all Syrian refugees now live in those Middle Eastern countries, having

stretched thin by the new Syrian diaspora.

More than 75 percent of them are women and children, and three out of four families live

in poverty.

In the camps, they suffer from the low quality of life and lack of resources.

The United Nations Refugee Agency does not allocate enough money for nations to deal

with the crisis, which means most nations who take in refugees are underfunded.

The oil rich Arab gulf countries have shamelessly taken in very little Syrians compared to what

they could afford.

Number 2: Victimized in Europe Although the majority of Syrians are well

educated and have considerable skills, they are unable to make a living in certain countries

due to legal issues.

This prompts them to pay whatever money they have left to smugglers to get them across

borders be it by land or sea.

They sometimes fall victim to degenerate smugglers, like when 71 refugees suffocated in the back

of a truck in Austria in August 2015.

Human trafficking circles also take advantage of the unfortunate refugees.

Nearly 10,000 refugee children have gone missing so far in Europe, and up to 10 children are

reported missing in Sweden every week.

Criminal gangs and trafficking syndicates are likely the culprits to these kids dropping

off the radar.

Children are targets as they are easy to recruit, transport, and quick to replace.

They would be forced into many things such as forced labor, forced begging, and becoming

sex workers.

Refugee centers also become targets of violence.

In the first half of 2016 alone, German police recorded up to 50 cases of arson attacks at

refugee centers across the country.

Most of the attacks were carried out by locals who lived near the centers, while a small

number were carried out by asylum seekers themselves due to in-fighting or protests

against the poor living conditions.

Number 1: The Ongoing War In Syria, even after 6 years of heavy fighting,

extreme losses on both sides, and irreparable damage to the country, the Syrian Civil War

still sees no end.

The dictator Bashar al-Assad refuses to relinquish power and instead has battled the rebellion

with unimaginable violence, including the torture of men, women and children, and gassing

his own people with chemical weapons.

Basic necessities like food and medicine are scarce.

Bombings are destroying crowded cities on a daily basis, and human rights violations

are widespread.

The Assad regime carries most of the blame, but so do Iran, Russia, and China who support

the regime directly or indirectly, while doing almost nothing about the resulting refugee

crisis.

They initially supported the Syrian government through diplomatic and monetary means.

But later it was found that Iran had been sending in Shia fighters since 2012.

Russia has also entered the war when President Vladimir Putin permitted the use of his country's

air force to conduct strikes on the Syrian opposition.

The situation has become more complicated with the presence of ISIS, and the Rojava

conflict in the north.

What was initially a two sided war has spiraled into a complicated conflict that sees three

or four parties fighting against each other.

Syria as a country is torn beyond repair and it is unlikely that the war or refugee crisis

will end anytime soon.

ALL THE SINGLE LADIES, WATCH THIS VLOG!! | TONY JUNIOR VLOG #47 - Duration: 11:01.

Hello, I am Senna.

I am twenty years old and I'm from Utrecht.

I'm looking for...

...a nice girlfriend.

Good morning.

These moments are...

Ok, sorry... I'll just say it.

I've already said this twice but I kept fucking up.

With the camera.

So I'm not that excited anymore.

Anyway, it's fucking early and the both of us have only slept two and a half hours.

We are on our way to Schiphol for something fun, but I can't tell you.

By now I don't even feel that bad.

We'll sleep some on the plane.

Of course.

I love that moment when you wake up again and you feel so much better.

But I'll bet you, we probably won't be able to sleep now.

Or maybe you will and I won't.

Two hours of sleep later and we are in Poland, Warschau.

I didn't even notice the plane take off and land.

I still don't feel great though.

Bryan does, he's super fit.

We are here with some more Dutch people.

I'm not gonna let them speak, not gonna let them speak.

Don't say anything.

Just chilling, that's it.

Let's try and find the bus.

I was just about to go to bed...

...when roomservice came.

Nice.

Nice.

Let me say good morning.

I just slept three hours.

I feel great.

Now.

Just took a shower.

We're all meeting downstairs, so here we go.

I'm turning this camera on, but I can't even tell you anything.

That's what they told me.

You'll see.

Such a nice street.

Beautiful, they still got the Christmas decorations up.

(This doesn't make any sense, something about confetti... Very mysterious!)

Ok, sorry for the weirdness.

You saw the 'to be continued'.

What happens the moment I get on that bus, will appear in one of the following vlogs.

But...

...there is still more to come in this vlog.

Sorry about this.

But in three, four or five vlogs it will all make sense.

Bye.

Good morning, we're in Poland.

Still. -Still.

We'll be flying back in a short while.

But not before we bought ourselves some cigarettes.

And act like a tourist.

Look at pretty monuments.

And as soon as we get on that plane this weekend will be over.

So much fun.

You've been super informative just now.

Why?

You really are stating nothing but the facts.

Yeah, brief and to the point, clear.

Yup, shorter.

Home.

One of the best things about these countries...

...is the price of a pack of cigarettes.

I'm not saying you should start smoking.

But this feels great.

A bag full.

They only cost us...

...€3,-.

Where are we going?

Back to Amsterdam.

So good.

Great.

It's over.

We're done.

These guys are great.

The one carries my suitcase.

The other... sure, take it into the bar.

So sweet.

That's something different from strutting down the catwalk.

This is hard work for some cash.

And I'm not even paying you.

Keep walking, go straight up stairs.

You can go unpack and wash my dirty boxer.

Hurry up.

No way.

I'm looking for a new girlfriend.

A new girlfriend.

Ok.

Look into the camera.

Hi, I'm Senna.

I'm twenty years old, from Utrecht.

And I'm looking for...

...a nice girlfriend.

And if there are any men out there that are interested. He blows as the best, ask Richard.

No, no, no...

What's your Instagram?

SXNN.

Or just Senna van Plateringen.

Ok, describe yourself in three words.

Very good question.

Look!

Not very, good, question.

Three words.

I want your qualities.

Spontaneous.

So you would wake up on a Sundaymorning and say, let's go to the Ardennes.

No.

That's being spontaneous.

So you're not spontaneous.

Oh, if I would have a girlfriend?

He's so not spontaneous.

That's what I thought.

So spontaneous is off the list.

So he's a liar, that's one.

And boring.

No, no, no.

Yes.

Nothing but sweet and gentle sex.

Yup.

Yeah, but that's what the girls are after.

Ok, let's stick to spontaneous.

Yes, spontaneous and convivial.

He just said it.

So bad.

I don't know.

Doubting.

A doubter.

So you have a bad self-image.

You doubt a lot, you lie.

Thats...

Yeah...

Ideal!

Well...

...this was a very long shot, that'll have to be cut down.

Hey!

Don't.

So nice.

I scared you.

Yes.

Ah sweetie.

What's going on, is there a party?

Yes, see all those people.

Jezus!

There are people outside.

Three of them.

Such an ugly pink hat.

You look ridiculous.

It's great, Tony, give it.

It's from Wood Wood.

Woot woot!

You're just jealous.

Give me my cap back.

What?

Ok, fine, I'll take your Louis Vuitton bag.

Nooooooooo!

Come back, come back, I'm sorry!

Press a button.

Which one, there are one, two, three, four, five....

It doesn't matter.

It's not your first time here, is it?

I've never had to turn this thing on.

Ok, now you pretend as if you're in a club.

Go hit on her.

Do it, do it.

No, that's not...

...that's not gonna happen.

Yes it is.

Come on.

He fingered on camera...

I know but I already made a big enough fool of myself before.

That's true.

I can't get any worse, so let's go.

Me and Tony had this whole discussion the other day.

We think that Richard...

...still wants to come out.

Whenever my dad and you guys are here it can never go right.

You just got that George Michael hair.

George, George Michael.

Have you ever touched each other's weener? Be honest.

Not even at a slumber party?

Just to feel it.

A manscratch.

A manscratch?

A manscratch!

No, a ballscratch.

We just discovered something.

Why do you buy this?

Are you coming in or what?

How?

Just get in there.

No way, let's have a look!

Oh wait I'm stuck.

Start running.

He can't fall.

That must be very expensive such a sweater.

Well, not anymore.

Three, two, one.

Very practical sweater.

I hope a lot of women will respond.

Thanks.

This sucks.

Take it easy.

Can someone please take my suitcase upstairs?

Can you please take it, he needs to come back upstairs anyway.

I'll never ask for anything again.

No! Because you'll make sure it ends up on camera again.

Yeah, I'm not doing that.

You know what I just recorder. By means of that suitcase...

...you could make it a lot less embarrassing for yourself

As if that wouldn't be bad enough.

Just grab it.

Come.

He's doing it!

No, come, come.

You're filming.

Yes, I keep filming, just grab it.

You were already holding it.

It's already on film.

You already came...

I didn't.

It didn't show up here on it's own, come on.

This is bullshit. Richard!

Can you grab this suitcase.

Come on!

Come on Bryan.

He's carrying my suitcase.

Oh, great, take it upstairs.

I told him we would go easy on him in the final edit of the vlog.

But he didn't take my suitcase.

Oh my, this is so bad!

This was it.

Sorry for...

...not uploading twice a week, but only once.

A week.

All because I wanted to spend some more time on Isaac's vlog and this one (that is to be continued).

From now on I'll have a vlog for you twice a week again.

Guys, it was a great weekend.

I had a great time and I hope you enjoyed watching it.

I'll see you at the next one.

Bye.

NASA | Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters Webinar - Duration: 34:09.

Good Afternoon, today we're going to talk about some new, high-efficiency piezoelectric

harvesters that were developed at NASA Langley Research Center. My name is Mia

Siochi, I'm from the Advanced Materials and processing branch here.

The other speaker is going to be Ji Su, also from the Advanced Materials

and Processing Branch. Our collaborators are Tian-Bing Xu and Jin Ho Kang, both from

the National Institute of Aerospace or NIA. NASA Langley has had a history of transferring some actuator

technologies developed here to industry. On this chart are examples of a couple of

commercially-available actuators that are based on NASA Inventions. On the left is

THUNDER which stands for Thin Layer Composite Unimorph Ferroelectric

Driver and Sensor. These devices are currently available from Face

International, and there's more information on these devices at the

link that shown here for Face International Corporation.

Another commercially available actuator is the piezoelectric Macrofiber Composite

technology show on the right, which is available from Smart Materials

Corporation. Their website information is shown here. More recently there is another example

of actuation technology developed here. It's called the hybrid actuation

system or HYBAS for short. Shown here is a schematic of this actuator

which combines two electroactive constituents. EAP stands for electrostrictive

G-elastomer which is shown here in Orange. And ESC designates the

electroactive single crystal element which is shown here in grey.

EAP offers positive dimensional change while ESC responds with negative dimensional

change under an electric field in a lateral direction. So what HYBAS is doing is using

the characteristics of the electromechanical response of the two electroactive

constituents cooperatively in order to achieve significantly increased

displacement for actuation with one single

input stimulus. So the performance of HYBAS is summarized on the right. It

is shown here as a function of applied voltage where the displacement is

plotted on the y-axis against position on the x-axis. So you can note that the

displacement of the hybrid system is greater than either one of the elements

alone with a contribution from the EAP element being greater at the higher

applied field shown on the bottom of the series of plots. Both of these technologies

take advantage of piezoelectric materials. These are materials that either change in

geometry or dimensions in response to an applied voltage, or they

generate electric charges when mechanical force is applied. So, the ability of

piezoelectric materials to generate voltage in response to mechanical stimulus is

what we want to take advantage of in the devices that will be described today.

These characteristics of the piezoelectric materials lend them to being used as

actuators as I've already shown,

or as energy harvesters. So, we're gonna be talking about several piezoelectric

energy harvester designs. Ji Su will be talking about one version and then I

will come in later with a different type of energy harvester. So the first type of

piezoelectric energy harvester will be discussed by Ji Su. It's called a hybrid piezoelectric

energy harvesting transducer system, or HYPEHT. (Ji Su) Thank you very much.

So, our hybrid actuation system was developed at NASA Langley Research Center years ago

The device demonstrated significant enhancement in actuation performance and proved concept

that two electromechanically active constituents opposite

electromechanical response

to a electrical excitement can be utilized in a cooperative mechanism for enhanced actuation

performance. As everybody knows, the electromechanical function is basically

is converse-able, right? You can use the system to convert electrical energy to mechanical energy or you

use mechanical energy and convert it to electrical energy. And then we are doing some

revisions to the actuation system, trying to make the system for the energy harvesting.

And so we have the HYPEHT, which is hybrid piezoelectric energy harvesting transducer system.

We have modulator stack and modulator constituents for the inner part and for the other part we are using the

multiple stacks. So, for the inner part we use the d31 effect. For the outer, curved part we are using

the D33 effect. We choose the materials from the APC International 855

These are PZT based ceramics and because they have reported as high a commercial efficiency and high

piezoelectrical constants. So the detailed information of the materials is given by the corner of

the right slide.

The slide gives us some kind of configuration and force distribution analysis. As you can see we have an inner layer

and outer layer and then while we have the force applied on the top of the outer layer, the force will be distributed

systematically to two ends, and then the whole device will experience either compression or the stretching.

This is the formula we are using the force analysis

for the modeling and calculations. And in this slide we are giving some basic information about the theoretical modeling we used for

this energy harvesting transducer system, and the

pollution from each ticket and then became the improve- ment racial high

pitched compared with the site of the user if you see the former you can see

it's always one factor is up to 80 is larger than 20 ok and that's going to be

home has it is we have been on a trip and the terms of this show you that

result of the composition as you can see from the left side that for the

preparation to have a paper on the autumn and attached to the movie profits

it will pop over and take pictures of the week

215 electrical power and pretend it but it is what it is and why and we also

charging capability for citywide capacitor and you can see we need about

eight supercapacitor from 0 to seven and energy is one hundred residents from

which is a 515 her and and composition hope to be wise for the Performing Arts

presidential from we are using the same setup framed system and from this figure

is on the right you can see my contribution to the generated from

Boulder later sank into the inner layer and also you can never do you can see ya

Institute more quote a generation why you have to force he thought the

electrical power generated higher doses to deploy generation increased appetite

and also you can see electrical power generated increased from fifty to call

this from this he is also president and then we can do some population we find

an array data Papalote shit implosion that apply to force generated after the

apollo are proportionate to the throne sassy and just 24 180,000 it was enough

to power generated and the footing YouTube shows the weight of the 21

chart you can see this all to the power regional out early you know they're

basically no matter what foreign currency and force applied and racial of

a contribution from each constitute basically gutted tested and then we did

population to he was a fishing see if conditions from mechanical energy into

can get to that have to put energy it's a pretty significant number and full

did you perform as well ttyl see if you compare to the judging committee it's

great energy harvester

no matter what is a fantasy who befriended

taken on a chip people recognized and used in the tragedy into her in nineteen

minutes

the energy harvester that i'm gonna talk about this is the multilayers harvesters

commercially available urges visitors that are based on using PDT is

immaterial PDT things for recording tightly and there's the front of the

Legion harvesters in the form of more than later stacks of 33 load PPG this is

a PDP issue has been shown to you the best performing energy harvesters

because industry three modes dipole moment is Carlo to mechanical force

input though this mode of PCG is able to attain 35 times higher mechanical and

electrical energy conversion efficiency compared to the mercurial the 31 mode

for the dipole moment is trippin political murder mechanical force and

put this is using PDT in a multi-layer Star Wars electrical charges are

generated compared to single air kisi ki then when you take this tack and how is

it within a fixed version free input forces captured from engine vibrations

are amplified to the greater mechanical engineer goes into the 33 mode PDT back

to using these design considerations these harvard's jurors generate

electrical power in commercially available devices but in the case of

those types of devices what we have found is they generate less than a

hundred million watts of power and the resonance frequency that they operate

under generally higher than those useful for many practical application so we

didn't talk about today is a is an energy harvester design that experience

on the 4th amplification principal socially on the truck design using a

two-stage amplifier the first stage consists of a large outer space station

refrain that is used to identify force input in the second stage is inside

larger frame is composed of four serially connected what social friends

that further amplify the input force before those forces are applied to each

other peers electric stack that infighting streams

input for mobile air stock is effectively quantified attempt at 800

occasions with First Age multiplied by the application of the second stage

which is designated herein the inclusion of them want an end to the mechanical

energy transfer it into PDT stack disproportionate to the square the force

which is applied in each pack design enhancing the interim forces in this way

it is possible to capture a lot more mechanical energy for inputs to the

trees remote key key facts are you using his jazz electric energy harvesters and

broader applications by designing them to respond to Indian vibrations are

commonly available the Churchill here

list examples of environment where needs maybe use they include things like

origins and clothes dryers and HVAC vents and office buildings among other

things that we have in this list is leading brands reduce vibrations and

frequencies ranging from tens to hundreds of hurts rather than in a

killer its reach in order to benchmark the performance of the energy harvester

we develop a look at how much power it needs to generate for it to have

practical and relevant application so the trench here shows at a park

consumption of some devices that can take advantage of renewable energy

sources

prices and benefits power sources on the order form regional water so in the

following charts were going to demonstrate the performance of the first

electric devices we develop here

11 consideration for the energy harvester that we design shown you to be

operated by just

using force from finger compression are the force input to the stand for the

over all the mention of the energy harvesters about 70 millimetres by 48

kilometers 131 leaders and weight is about 80 grams but at the heart of this

device or ceramics tax which is about 70 years I seventy leaders by 32 meters and

the issue about 9 percent shooting years that were cyclically compressing the

ceramic stack and the voltage generated as shown on the part of the Masters on

the order of luxurious involved at 4:25 hurts and this translates into

approximately three international waters electrical power generated a few minutes

we can charge up a 6600 microfiber supercapacitor shown on the right to

weaken charged from 6 votes over about six minutes and the story energies over

a hundred million shares the same or similar views electric energy harvester

does not counted on a military uses configuration so that we can control the

infant forces in a broad range of frequencies are using the shadow of the

infant forces that we tried our one unified in 15 years these forces were

applied and there's frequencies of the blocks on the right shows the results

they know they applied for showing that a lot and then the voltage generated in

the middle plot and the power is generated as a result of this voltages

shown in the bottom of the middle class showed that the ball is generated

increased proportionally with into force in on the bottom so we should what we

see is that the electrical towers proportional to the frequency and the

squarely point Force Base chart

we generated data showed on the chart by mounting the two years old furniture on

the surface of the shakers to simulate it responds to vibration input to the

resonant frequency for the devices in the range of about a hundred it hurt in

one hundred residents without a truce managed to plan a live show the Voyager

is about 10 Bowl for half of G acceleration and this rate of

acceleration is akin to what you get in a blender

regenerated is approximately 350 million watch and then be used the harvester

disk configuration to middle-class shows that it took about eight seconds to

fully charges 6600 microphone arid capacitor from 0 to about seven goals in

the acceleration were not increased 21 G which is the level of vibration from a

car engine the rightmost ponchos and it only took took two seconds before we

charge the capacitor

another motive operating the harvesters is getting approved mass and using them

resonance frequencies but we seniors depending on improvements that we use in

the left slot and show no proof mass for the black curve for twenty grams of

proof matches the red curve in and 40 and 50 grams for the blue curves and he

sees it as a proof has increased the resonance frequency get over so we can

do here is the proof mass can be used to tune the resonance frequency of the

harvester you can know that when we asked the girls of truth and a quarter

of the G acceleration this acceleration the similar to the level that you give

her a clothes dryer and it took only eight seconds to fully charge the

capacitor

to show the performance of the harvesters that we develop we wanted to

go tiered

performance of the developed harvester with wanted commercially available we

recognize however that what we have here is a two-stage harvester still

commercially available harvesters are generally single stage and so you know

how do we how do we really fairly evaluate the performance of my monitor

compared to one that we're using the bench market knowing that ours is a

two-stage harvester and commercially available to researchers are also

enabled PCs PC three facts but they only use one stage for amplification still

showing here is the performance of a one-stage a two-stage harvester that we

need to do this one stage harvester bring dimensions and geometry that's the

same as what we used to include in a Tuesday harvester with the right shows

that offers and frequency of 56 a difference as the point of comparison

produced agent in charge but certain times greater per stack if we did not

realize the output they've done a number of PC key elements that are responding

to the Internet chemical energy so in a two-stage for staff in a one-stage it

only wants tax free savings 13 times greater is is already divided by the

number of stacks and why the total differently about 52 times greater

operated devices at the resonant frequency which is a real estate heard

for the truth HIV stir in 1 killer hurts when one stage system the power output

is about thirty turns first act better for the Tuesday Charminster but the

difference is that the 2004 minister of Aboriginal broader range of practical

frequencies since it's a 900 perch rather than in the kilohertz

we're trying to make it valid comparison of the NASA developed harvester would a

commercial energy harvester knowing that the commercial harvesters use a

one-stage device and the dimensions of those that one stage the bodies are not

exactly the same what we use in our two-stage devices as well as possible

wanna do is make the comparison between conservatives and dividing the response

we get from the national average by four and the way of normalizing the output so

we basically just normalizing based on what we know to be the number of kids

electric elements that are in the harvester finished looking at is a

comparison of the Langley harvester there's a commercial furniture operating

on presidential power the same level acceleration after the frequency such as

50 heart of the matter the two-stage are generated objects and returned more

electrical power person that can be commercial have Easter where do the same

level of acceleration frequency to win a treatment facility ground is added to

both harvesters and this is the ideal operating conditions for both harvesters

the two-stage mister still puts out about 30 current first and more power

than the commercial harvesters

know that from the left even with an approved now the two-stage heard this

place is stronger resonance peak and the commercial harvester which is being

operated here without proof to summarize the difference in performance without

through the generated magical approving the harvester about 600 registration

expired on the commercial harvest your upbringing that the same hot resonance

frequency is if we're comparing them with improvements and generate

electrical power from the money harvesters about 50 times for stocks

higher in the commercial harvester working at the same off resonance

frequency and finally the lengthy harvester has a strong president speech

even without treatment in europe compared the performance of the

harvesters and match resistors because this is the configuration that yield the

highest power output than what we see is that under the same measurement

condition Tuesday Charminster delivered ten times first act more power than the

single-stage commercial harvesters the total power output for the link the

armature show near 64 milliwatts and so will be normalized by for this concerned

about $16 watch for stack in comparison the one stage rehearsal device put out

about 1.7 million watts of power so this is about 10 times lower power output

from the commercial harvest in comparison to the National harvesters

and we consider the performance of the devices of their resonant frequency

the part of the body's operated without proof mass shown here on the left is

about three times better than the commercials harvester the total output

power is 168 no walks so we normalize it at about 1700 watts per stack of the

resonance frequency the 100 church and they're right there are shown for the

commercial harvester operator interested intrigued with about one killer hurt

when a 53 ground troops now patrol car put of in this configuration was not

travel have no water till we know that the output of the little guys first act

it's still about three times greater than the commercial device operating

under is optimal conditions with about the same crew from a security groomed

and went to third G acceleration the two states that harvester report less than

10 seconds to fully Sharjah secret pastor resonant frequency harsh origin

of 1.5 G was required for the crucial harvester to fully charge supercapacitor

shown and rightmost and it required about 47 Sushil so they were normalized

charging him again by for and about six times greater acceleration to fully

charge the supercapacitor for the commercial the bars versus a net advice

conclusion we have shown here we compare the performance of two-stage harvester

developed a national generate significantly higher political power

than a commercially available for amateur days communities the condition

and we show the performance of resolution authorizing with and without

approval mashed and using match through the Baloch and residents NASA orbiter

either with or without treatment actually charge the capacitor faster

than the commercial harvester operating with 203 leader resolution policy of the

National Register is new range of many practical application compared to the

commercial harvester

demonstrate the actual Felicity servicers in a couple of examples shown

in the video now we're gonna demonstrate the performance of this energy harvester

with two examples the first only show is a wireless sensor and the second

demonstration illustrates the generator light up some LEDs the setup here shows

a black box which is XYZ sensor so it gives you XYZ location it's not on top

of a mock aircraft in its going to be powered by electric energy harvester

which is shown here stay in touch to a shaker which is going to simulate

vibrations that will be used as input forces generated is going to be tracked

by this book me here and then stored in a super capacitors shown me so well

plugging in the shaker so you can see the voltage is generated immediately in

response to the input force

and when we get up to about four votes there should be enough to initiate the

operation of the wireless sensor when we get there were gonna hook up the

wireless sensor and you can see that the aircraft is being moved up and down

sideways and that the signal of those locations are being recorded remotely

the computer and receiver for the signals are located about 300 feet away

in another room and the blue the green and red signals indicate the location of

the aircraft index the wine is a direction for the second demonstration

gonna show is using his electric energy harvester delight of about 50 LEDs their

true colors it spells out in a sec and those who are compressing the energy

harvesters generating enough voltage that's directly being used to light up

the LEDs and show we're using two stacks in this case because what we're doing

here in generating AC voltage and every other LED is connected to the opposite

face to make sure that half of the LTE EPC light up when it generated voltage

is positive and the other half lights up when the generated negative and they

still have all the requirements for these LEDs that we used to estimate in

about 70 million watts of power generated and compression cycle in order

to actually light up led peace

How to Prepare Conch for Salad and Sushi - Catch N Cook - Duration: 6:23.

Hey! Thanks for checking out another Sushi Everyday video.

Hope you find this useful and subscribe for more like it!

So last winter, in Florida, we had several strong cold fronts that came in one after another in a short period of time

and it left tens of thousands of seashells along the beaches here on the west coast

And lucky for me these fighting conchs made up the majority of it

So I had the chance to collect a ton of these small conchs and try to make a few dishes out of them

Check out this photo from our local newspaper.

This was what it looked like for miles up and down the beaches in Pinellas County

When I was working in restaurants before, I worked with queen conchs, but never with fighting conchs since their not commercially harvested

So this was new to me

Usually they are spotty to find and you only find one here and there, because they're normally in deeper waters, away from the beach

But this was a neat opportunity because they were so easy to harvest after the storms

So I've heard of people eating these type of conchs before

but like I said this is a first for me. And as it turns out, they were really good

They're not as sweet as queen conchs but it's not a bad substitute

Also, as of when this video was uploaded, you're legally allowed to collect them in Florida

But do check with your state regulations

I'll post a link below for Florida. The only banned conch is the Queen conch, which has been on the prohibited list for a while now

Alright guys, enough of the intro, hope you enjoy the rest of video!

Conchs spend their entire life on the sea bottom, so naturally they're going to be sandy

Unless you like sand in your dishes, I suggest rinsing these thoroughly in running water for at least a minute

and make sure to shake em up a bit as you rinse them

Here I'm dropping them in hot water and I'll bring it up to a boil and let it simmer for about 20 minutes

Too be honest you guys, this is the first time I've ever worked with this type of conch, so it was a wild guess

and it turned out 20 minute was perfect. A little bit long and the muscles would have become tough and chewy

After they're cooked, rinse them in cold water to stop the cooking

This is the fun part, and it'll take a few of them before you get the touch

Take a skewer or a small fork and slowly work out the conch meat. And turn the skewer as you're pulling

So the foot is the hard plate on the bottom of the conch, it looks and feels like a big fish scale and this isn't edible, so just pull it off and throw it away

The second part you gotta remove is the lining on the muscle

This is part of the stomach, liver, and all the other innards

Don't eat this, its very bitter and taste terrible. Don't pull a Andrew Zimmerman on this one

So what you're left with is a single piece of muscle

Now the part thats closest to the foot is the toughest part

And normally with large conchs, this section is usually cut off and discarded, and some fisherman will even use it for bait.

But since these guys are the smaller version of what's harvested commercially, they're not as chewy. So I'm keeping them o

After you get all the meat out, Rinse them again!!

There'll still be very sandy even though they were rinsed in the shell before

I rinsed this batch 3 times and they still had a bit sandy

Unless you like extra crunchy food, its better to rinse them several times.

Okay, so after you made sure there were no more sand, dry it off with paper towel and and they should look something like this

At this point, they're ready to serve. But that would be too boring, and I doubt you're here to watch boring stuff, so lets dress it up a bit

So for the salad base, use what ever greens you like and garnish with toppings you like

But keep in mind to use ingredients that won't steal the show. The focus point is the conch

This time I'm using red bell pepper, radish, shredded daikon, and artichoke

And for the dressing, I'm going to mix grated ginger with ponzu sauce

I love using ponzu as a dressing, I think it pairs very well with a lot of seafoods, especially raw fish

So give it a try, if not use some type of vinaigrette dressing, I'm sure it'll go just as well

Aside from the salad, you can cut these into smaller stripes and mix it in the same sauce as before. and make it into a hand roll or a sushi roll

Personally, I think the salad turned out the best because I can truly enjoy the full crunchy texture of the conch meat instead of it being cut up

Some of you guys might be asking if conch can be eaten raw, and the answer is absolutely, in fact most are served raw at sushi bars

But the only way to take out the conch meat when its raw is to chisel the horn of the shell and cut the connecting muscle to release the meat

Its actually a pretty cool process if you never seen it

theres a few youtube videos showing you how. But since these conchs were so small and I had so many, its just easier to work with them cooked

Alright guys, Thank you so much for watching this video!

The Last of Us: A Revolutionary Game - Duration: 3:43.

The Last of Us holds a special place in my heart.

It seems so realistic to me,

Back when I played it,

That I had to remind myself, again and again, that this was just a game.

Today, I'm going to be talking about the Last of Us.

I've played this game on the PS3 earlier,

But I played the Remastered version again on the PS4.

What I say about the story is that Joel, in general, went through a lot.

I felt that if he cared about someone or something,

It wouldn't do any good to him.

But after he met Ellie,

He slowly began accepting the fact

that Ellie wasn't just cargo he had to ship.

He could see a bit of Sarah in her.

Sarah was his daughter who he lost in the beginning of the game.

Before the zombie apocalypse started.

In the end of the game, Joel was selfish.

But in the selfishness of a person who cared.

He got Ellie out, no matter what.

He'd give up anything to let Ellie live and be safe.

He'd even risk his life for her.

And she was the only thing important to him.

From what I learnt throughout the game,

Was, maybe the fireflies weren't even correct.

Maybe the cure would never, ever be made.

If you've played the Last of Us, there was one part, where one of the Fireflies scientist said in a recording,

That the Fireflies would have 'cycles' every year.

The Fireflies were so hellbent on trying to find a cure,

That when they found out Ellie was resistant to the infection,

They just wanted to cut her head open and make the cure.

And the 'cycle' just proved that there would be a rare- there would be a few rare people,

Who were immune to cordyceps, the disease.

And when might've tried to make a sure, they must have failed.

So there was a real chance that they'd never, ever find a cure.

And Marlene... I couldn't even process what she had done.

She knew Ellie personally.

Yet, she felt no regret knowing that they'd tried to find a cure many times

And basically, that she was just killing Ellie off?

And the sadder part was that she didn't even tell Ellie, that she'd die from this procedure.

And I can even prove it, that she'd didn't tell Ellie.

Because, before, when they went into the hospital

Towards the end of the game, there was a short conversation which Joel and Ellie shared.

Where she asked Joel to teach her how to swim, after all this was over.

And Joel was more than willing to.

And this just proved that Marlene didn't even think of telling Ellie that she'd die after this.

The Last of Us, was a story of growth and I loved it from the beginning.

I was a bit confused as to why Joel lied to Ellie after all the 'drama',

But I soon understood why.

Joel had lost his daughter, Sarah, and like I said,

He wasn't the one who'd open up his past.

And with Ellie, he just dug deeper into the old chapters of his life.

He had replaced Sarah with Ellie, and just like I said before...

She was the only thing that mattered to him.

Is It Just A Coincidence That The Dow Has Hit 20,000 At The Same Time The National Debt Is Reaching - Duration: 7:34.

Is It Just A Coincidence That The Dow Has Hit 20,000 At The Same Time The National Debt

Is Reaching $20 Trillion?

By Michael Snyder.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average provides us with some pretty strong evidence that our

stock market boom has been fueled by debt.

On Wednesday, the Dow crossed the 20,000 mark for the first time ever, and this comes at

a time when the U.S. national debt is right on the verge of hitting 20 trillion dollars.

Is this just a coincidence?

As you will see, there has been a very close correlation between the national debt and

the Dow Jones Industrial Average for a very long time.

For example, when Ronald Reagan took office in 1991, the U.S. national debt had just hit

994 billion dollars and the Dow was sitting at 951.

And as you can see from this chart by Matterhorn.gold via David Stockman, roughly that same ratio

has held true throughout subsequent presidential administrations

During the Clinton years the Dow raced out ahead of the national debt, but an adjustment

during the Bush years brought things back into line.

The cold hard truth is that we have been living way above our means for decades.

Our prosperity has been fueled by the greatest debt binge in the history of the

world, and we are greatly fooling ourselves if we think otherwise.

We would never have gotten to 20,000 on the Dow if Barack Obama and Congress had not gotten

us into an extra 9.3 trillion dollars of debt over the past eight years.

Unfortunately, most people do not understand this, and the mainstream media is treating

Dow 20,000? as if it is some sort of great historical achievement

The average began tracking the most powerful corporate stocks in 1896, and has served as

a broad measure of the markets health through 22 presidents, 22 recessions, a Great Depression,

at least two crashes and innumerable rallies, corrections, bull and bear markets.

The blue chip reading finally cracked the 20,000 benchmark for the first time early

Wednesday.

During the current bull market, the second longest in history, the Dow has more than

tripled since March 2009.

Since Donald Trumps surprise election victory, the Dow has now climbed by approximately 2150

points.

And it took just 64 calendar days for the Dow to go from 19,000 to 20,000.

That is an astounding pace, and financial markets around the rest of the planet are

doing very well right now too.

In fact, global stocks rose to a 19 month high on Wednesday.

So where do we go from here?

Well, if Donald Trump wants to see Dow 30,000 during his presidency, then history tells

us that he needs to take us to 30 trillion dollars in debt.

Of course that would be absolute insanity even if it was somehow possible.

Each additional dollar of debt destroys the future of our country just a little bit more,

and at some point this colossal bubble is going to burst.

But you cant tell most of the financial experts these things.

Most of them simply believe that the market always goes higher over time

The market always goes higher over time, Todd Morgan, chairman of Bel Air Investment

Advisors.

The lesson here is that through wars, recessions, elections, impeachments, financial crises,

and on and on, investing for the long term in high-quality stocks is the key to building

wealth.

We are telling our clients that you cant time the market.

Think long term.

Stay the course.

We expect the market to see Dow 30,000 in my lifetime, and for my grandchildren to see

Dow 50,000 in their lifetime.

My hope is that the market will continue to go up.

But nobody can deny that valuations are already at absurdly high levels, and the only way

that this party can keep going is to continue to fuel it with more and more debt.

But for the moment, there is a tremendous amount of optimism out there, and most experts

expect the Dow to continue to set new highs.

In fact, CNBC says that whenever the Dow crosses a new threshold like this it usually means

good things for investors

CNBC looked at market data from the past 30 years and zeroed in on the times when the

Dow has crossed levels like 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 all the way up to the 19,000 level

it hit in November.

At those times, investors can typically expect traders to push it up even higher, according

to data from Kensho.

Not only does the Dow go up, but it outperforms the S&P 500 index along the way.

But as USA Today has explained, not all Americans are benefiting from this stock market rally

The breakthrough came just four trading days into Trumps presidency, a whirlwind in

which the billionaire has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthen the U.S. economy and create

more jobs and higher wages for workers.

Still, nearly half of Americans have not benefited from the so-called Trump Rally, which

has generated more than $2.2 trillion in paper gains for the Wilshire 5000 Total Stock Index

since Election Day.

The reason: only 52% of Americans polled by Gallup last April said they have money

invested in stocks the lowest stock ownership rate in the 19 years Gallup has

tracked the data and down sharply from 65% in 2007 before the financial crisis.

Hopefully the good times will continue to roll for as long as possible.

But there is no possible way that they can keep going indefinitely.

For decades, our debt has been growing much faster than our GDP has.

By definition, this is an unsustainable situation.

At some point we will have accumulated so much debt that our financial system will no

longer be able to hold up under the strain.

Many were convinced that we would reach that point before the U.S. national debt hit 20

trillion dollars, and yet here we are.

So how much higher can we go before the bubble bursts?

That is a very good question, and I dont know if anyone has the right answer.

But for President Trump, this is going to present him with quite a dilemma.

Either he can keep the debt party going for as long as possible, or he can try to get

us to take some tough financial medicine right now.

If an attempt is made to deal with our debt problems now, we will experience severe economic

pain almost immediately.

But if the can keeps being kicked down the road, our long-term prognosis is just going

to keep getting worse and worse.

And if we try to delay the inevitable indefinitely, at some point the laws of economics are going

to make our hard choices for us.

So let us celebrate Dow 20,000?, but let us also understand that it is far more likely

that we will see Dow 10,000? again before we ever see Dow 30,000?.

Alex: Just having a check-up for morning news

NR: A terrible massacre has happened in a Cluckin Bell restaurant, Angel Pines.

NR: The LSSD and the LAFD have arrived at the field of event, rescue the victims as well as secure the area

NR: It's highly recommend that civilians shouldn't come along the area, so as to avoid unwanted damage

Urban: Welcome to San Andreas

Urban: Hey bro, whatcha doing?

Darkie: Just having a look at this truck

Urban: Look? For what?

Darkie: Of course for work

Urban: Work? Ain't today the day-off?

Darkie: Off to you, not to me

Urban: Well then, what a shame

Urban: Me and Alex are about to having a trip around San Andreas

Darkie: Really? Have a nice day bro

Urban: Of course. We'll buy some gifts for you

Urban: Later homie

Darkie: Yeah later, the substitute key is in the warehouse

Urban: Got it

Michael: How ya doing, pal?

Max: Fine as hell bro, still got for myself shit tons of fish

Michael: That's one hell of a crop mate, haha

Ken: Back to base, boss calls

Michael: Call? Today is my god-damn day off

Ken: What fucking day off? Are you on drug again?

Michael: Okay, I'll be there right now

Michael: That's it, bye. Signal off.

Michael: Stupid ungrateful piece of sh

Boss: It's good to see you back. I have an important mission for you to do

Michael: By calling me while I was enjoying my day-off? This'd better be a serious case

Boss: Exactly. A serious massacre takes place in Angel Pines, San Andreas

Boss: The LSSD has got themselves in this case, but still unable to find out the murderer

Michael: A massacre? How serious it is?

Boss: Everyone in the pizza store was killed, estimated about 6 people

Boss: Whoever behind this is still nowhere to be found, as well as a single clue for the police

Michael: Sounds interesting. I'll join in this, but I have very few acquaintances in San Andreas

Boss: No need for acquaintances. You'll be sent one partner for this mission.

Michael: Partner? Who?

Andy: Sorry sir, I'm late today

Michael: Andy, is that you?

Boss: Yes, Andy Temax will be your partner in this mission

Michael: Aren't you busy with a drug dealing group in Vice City?

Andy: That case is done. All criminals, including the leader, were caught by the police.

Andy: My boss granted me a week-off, so I decided to pay your a visit as well as helping you out with paperwork

Boss: This is a solemn case, since the killer hasn't been caught

Boss: If we don't do this, no one else will, so I hope both of you will work together well to accomplish this mission

Michael: Of course. We'll return with good news. Is that right, partner?

Andy: Yes, of course

Boss: Good! You can go now.

Andy + Michael: Thank you boss

Fred: Back off a little bit... Ok, stop.

Darkie: Lock and load, ready to go

Fred: You are too slow kid

Fred: I've seen a drunken guy in Las Venturas who can drive faster than you do

Darkie: Give me a slice man, he drove a Peterbilt, not a Volvo

Fred: Yeah right, compare to his, your truck is trash

Darkie: Watch your mouth, old man

Fred: I'd rather see you angry than slow

Darkie: Whatever

Urban: Here we go, best place on Earth

Alex: You've got to be kidding me

Urban: Come in, there'll be a lot of fun

Alex: Woah

Urban: Hey, check it out

Urban: Ain't that Enogon Dark, our old homie here?

Urban + Alex: Hi dude

Enogon: Urban and Alex?

Enogon: It's good to see you guys, it's been so long

Urban: So now you are the owner of this casino?

Enogon: Yeah. You now, mafia gangsters often collect money from entertaining activities to serve their work

Alex: Which means you are working for mafia now?

Enogon: Not exactly. They capture some casino floors as their money making territories, then use their owner as their money-making tools.

Alex: Isn't it too dangerous?

Urban: Yeah, you're more likely to die as hell

Enogon: Don't worry. I've been the owner of this casino for 2 years. It's amazing

Urban: We're going home. It's good to see you

Enogon: Yeah, bye

Urban: What the fuck?

Urban: See what I see Alex? That guy in blue shirt is standing there watching us until now

Urban: I don't have a good feeling about this guy

Alex: He's just a normal security guard of the car parking lot, nothing special

Urban: I don't think so. What kind of casino security guard would wear that outfit and drive that car?

Urban: Anyway we should be careful

Alex: You are a little bit stressful, Urban.

Urban: My character

Fred: Hey, I've gotta take a pee. Lemme down

Darkie: Just one more kilometer to go. Aren't you gonna pee in the middle of the forest?

Fred: But I can't stand up with it anymore

Fred: My kidney would blow up to pieces before I get home

Darkie: Shit... Hurry up

Fred: Thanks Darkie

Fred: Oh yeah, that's good

Fred: *old guy acting like a monkey being raped*

Fred: Time to go back

Fred: Holy sh

Fred: What the hell is going on?

Fred: Better go and find out

Fred: What is this place?

Darkie: What took this old man so damn long?

Darkie: Gotta go and find him

Darkie: Stubborn old man, just one more kilometer to go

Darkie: How the hell am I supposed to find him out in this big forest?

Darkie: Let's go. I'm starting to lose my patience

Darkie: What the hell?

Darkie: Fred, are you ok?

Darkie: Oh my god

Rick: Good evening, what can I help you sir?

Michael: We are special agents from Liberty City Police Department, receiving permission to investigate this massacre

Andy: We can show you our badges

Rick: There's no need sir. Our boss has already informed us that there will be 2 agents from Liberty help us with this case

Rick: Just go ahead with your work, we won't mind

Rick: Moreover, we are currently holding one witness, perhaps he can help you guys with something

Andy: Thank you sir, you are so thoughtful

Michael: Let's go Andy

Andy: Alright, we have some questions for you. Answer them all as honest as possible.

John: Yes sir

John: I'll try to tell whatever I know

John: It was very late, probably in the midnight. I was feeling a little bit hungry so I decided to go to that pizza store to have a supper. As soon as I entered, I found everyone dead. I was too afraid that I decided to call the police

Andy: Midnight... Everyone dead

Michael: Did you see anyone else there?

John: I think I did. After leaving there for 5 minutes, I spotted a guy in blue jacket and a black bucket hat

John: I think he was driving a Super GT, too

Michael: Blue jacket? Black bucket hat?

Andy: That's all we need to know. Thanks for your help

John: It's nothing sir

Andy: Alright, you can go home now

John: Thank you sir

Andy: Yo, why are you standing here alone?

Michael: Just been thinking of something

Michael: I know the man that the witness has described

Andy: Who is that, Michael?

Michael: My colleague and my old boss, Darkie Hunt

Andy: Darkie Hunt? Isn't he a myth hunter?

Andy: I know you are in a very delicate situation, but he is the only witness in this case

Andy: We have to be decisive. Otherwise this case will remain unsolved

Michael: You are right, we don't have another choice.

Andy: Catching myth hunters is never easy at all. We need a stool pigeon to lure him out

Michael: Don't worry. I know where he lives as well as who will be that pigeon.

Andy: Well then let's rock

Darkie: What a crazy day

Urban: Hey dude, we are back

Alex: Die you... oh hello Darkie

Urban: Dude what's wrong with that face? It looks like you've just seen a ghost

Darkie: You guessed it right, Urban

Urban: You okay bro? Maybe I can buy you some tranquillizer?

Alex: Or we can have some game of card and drink some wine as a replacement?

Darkie: Sounds good

Darkie: Wanna mess with me?

Darkie: You are surely doomed

Darkie: Come back you boosted animal

Darkie: Shit, losing his track again

Freeze! Hands in the air, NOW!

Darkie: Is that you, Michael?

Michael: Yes, it's me

Depression and Diabetes - Duration: 1:18.

I'm Ansley from Diabetes- What To Know and today we're going to cover one aspect of

diabetes that many people don't talk about— depression.

The most important thing to understand is that depression, like diabetes, is a disease.

And like any disease, it can be treated.

But sometimes it's hard for people to ask for that help, because there's still a lot

of stigma around depression in our culture.

Treating depression is really important though so that both you and those around you can

feel better, and so that happiness can be part of your life again.

During the last couple of weeks, if there have been days when you have had little interest

or pleasure in doing things, or felt down or hopeless, you may have depression.

If this is the case, or if you have other reasons for thinking that you may be depressed,

it will help to talk to your doctor and get more information.

If you are depressed, your medical team will be able to help you figure out how to treat

your depression, either with medicine, talking therapy or a combination of both.

These approaches to treating depression have been shown to be effective, and work just

as well for people with diabetes as they do for others.

Remember, identifying depression and getting help for it is one of the most important things

you can do to stay healthy.

Thanks for watching--
