I Love New York Logo - Milton Glaser | Logo design & Designer review - Duration: 7:10.

Hello and welcome to this video

Gareth here from TastyTuts.com. In this video

we're going to look at the 'I Love New York' logo,

learn a little about the logo and the designer behind it.

The 'I Love New York' logo was designed in 1977

by a famous American designer called Milton Glaser

Who was born in 1929.

Milton Glaser is well known for much of his work including:

The DC Comics logo designed in

the late nineteen seventies.

The Brooklyn Brewery logo from the early nineteen eighties,

and his many posters he created

throughout his long career notably the

psychedelic Bob Dylan poster designed in the mid 1960's.

In the early 1970's New York was near bankruptcy

things are not looking good

and the city needed money.

The New York state Commerce Department

realized that a great way to make money

was through tourism. An advertisement company

called Wells, Rich, Greene was

hired who came up with the slogan 'I Love New York'

which they would build their entire advertisement campaign on.

This is known as the ad campaign that saved New York.

In 1977 Milton Glaser was hired and

it was up to him to come up with a logo

that would be used in the campaign.

His first idea was 'I Love New York' composed

in two lozenge shapes, but soon after while doodling

in a taxicab he came up with what

he thought was a better idea.

This being he version with the heart shape.

This logo would go on to be used

in a range of media. This logo would go

on to be used in adverts with a special

jingle composed by Steve Karmen.

'I live in New Hampshire but I Love New York'

'I live in North Carolina but I Love New York'.

'It's filled with affordable vacation packages and ideas'

'Find out why out door lovers from the Carolina's to Canada Love New York'

'Come have a dazzling time.'

'Or see your travel agent.'

'New York is all light up for your vacation.'

'Come have a dazzling time.'

The logo was also used in print advertisement and merchandise.

It was only expected to last a few months

but the logo became so popular it has

become a pop-up icon, closely associated

with New York and is still being used on merchandise today.

To quote Glaser on his logo:

"The impulse for everyone I think going

into professional life as a designer,

or as a communicator, is to have their work effective

and meaningful to enter the culture

through their work.

so everything one dreams of in terms of having an effect

on your culture, your community, your neighbourhood the world!

It happened!

So this logo is essentially a lockup combination mark.

In this logo we have an lettermark element and a visual shape element.

The lettermark is a rounded slab serif typeface called American typewriter

designed by Joel Kaden and Tony Stan

released in 1974.

The 'I Love New York' logo is commonly seen in two lockup compositions

the horizontal composition and the stacked composition.

The heart shape visual icon is placed in the composition

to represent the word 'love' visually.

Milton Glaser's 'I Love New York' logo has

become so iconic it has become one of

the most imitated logos of all time.

Used around the world in various ways.

So what do I think of this logo?

Well this is one of the all time classics,

and ticks all the boxes that make for a good logo.

It's simple, universally understood, memorable, distinctive, appropriate, versatile

and has proved itself to be timeless.

So what can we learn from this story?

Well this logo demonstrates how visual and type elements

can be used together in a simple and impactful way.

this is a good example of how simplicity can be easily recognised,

instantly identifiable and have a maximum impact

the use of the visual element makes this logo

universally understood around the world

which has helped with its popularity.

When designing a logo consider how these

aspects have worked so well for this logo

and how they might benefit your design.

Cross country ski, ice fishing and lavo in Telemark (Norway).

We have got a lot of gear out in the wild today!!

A snowmobile has brought out the gear this time.

Two boxes with food, two sleds,

two bags firewood, a lavo with a stove and snowshoes ;)

First of all we have to set up the lavo before it gets dark!

Kiro has waited a long time to get inside.

He is disappointed! Here isn't warm and nice yet.

Nice to have you with us this time!

It's a really COLD weather on this trip!

Think we will regret that the warmest sleeping bags are at home.....

Yes! At home we have two brand new extreme sleeping bags!

We didn't expect a temperature below minus 25 degree C during the night!

It's cold!!

Here is Kaja - a bit too cold tonight ;)

Luckily I have.....

I will show you what I have got from Tove...

I guess I have to use this tonight!

That's good - now you are warm at your nose too :)

I think it's possible to sleep with this!

- 30 C below zero wouldn't matter at all ;)

I didn't manage to move the sled in the beginning.

Kiro wants to run all the time!

I think we will be warm and sweat!

It's an overwhelming beautiful day!

At this place we had to take of the skis and walk uphill.

A DAY EXPLORING A SMALL JAPANESE TOWN | 宮崎県綾町での田舎暮らし体験 - Duration: 7:02.

She is a drone-jo,

and today we are going to shoot various,

sight seeing spots around Aya.

And we're going to make them look really, really cool,

and really professional.

And she's going to teach me how to fly a drone,

so I'm really excited.

(both speak foreign language)

Momoka-San is a licensed drone pilot.

Flying drones in residential areas is prohibited in Japan,

but if you're a licensed drone pilot,

you can apply for special permission to fly.

So today, thanks to Momoko-San,

we'll be able to fly our drone here

in the small farming town of Aya,

in Miyazaki prefecture.

(high pitch buzzing)

This is the Aya Teruha Suspension Bridge:

One of the most popular landmarks in Aya,

and formerly the highest walkable suspension bridge

in all of Japan.

It is a 142 meters tall, and 250 meters wide.

So this bridge is not exactly for the faint of heart

or those afraid of heights,

mainly because the flooring is grated.

(Micaela chuckles)

Grated and you can see straight down to your death,

if you were to fall, if anything were to happen.

No chance.

(speaks foreign language)

It's the bridge code,

you have to be polite to people when you are on a bridge.

I just made that up.

If you can make it to the other side of the bridge,

there's a hiking trail that weaves thought the lush forest.

This is a very popular stop for nature lovers, hikers,

and thrill seeking tourists.

Another famous landmark is Aya Castle.

It sits atop a hill and overlooks the entire town.

Alright, so here is Aya Castle.

The thing that I like a lot about Aya Castle,

I've been here a few times already,

but the thing that I like about it is that,

for a castle, for a tourist spot,

it's always very quiet.

There's never anybody else here,

and if you want to just wander around,

and admire it, and take photos,

and go inside, and go to the top,

you can,

and you don't have other tourists getting into your photos

and ruining everything.

Whether you're looking at the castle from the town,

or looking at the town from the castle,

you're sure to be treated with some picturesque scenery.

(relaxed techno music)

After a busy morning of flying,

we headed to the center of town for a quick break.

They have free WiFi there.

(speak foreign language)

So we're trading data.

We're having a data transfer party here in this little cafe?

Ice cream shop?

I've got dragon fruit ice cream...

- It's so good. I love the colors.

Over here they have this beautiful hina stand,

but we're gonna go see more of that later.

From the end of February to the beginning of March,

Japan celebrates the Hinamatsuri,

or The Festival of Dolls.

- Come on.

(speaks foreign language)

These are so cute.

This festival is celebrated all across Japan,

but depending on where you go,

everyone seems to celebrate it a little differently.

In Aya, they hold what is called a Hinayamamatsuri

or A Doll Mountain Festival.

Traditionally,

hina dolls are displayed on red-tiered platforms,

but in the town of Aya,

they place that platform on a man-made mountain,

and they decorate it with real plants and flowers,

and display them all across town.

(trickling water)

Over the course of one week,

this particular event draws visitors from all over Kyushu,

and it's a really great opportunity

to explore the more traditional side of Japan.

(speaks foreign language)

Wow.

You meet some pretty amazing people here in Aya.

Finally, it's the end of the day,

and we're going out for dinner

with my friends from town hall.

I've been waiting for this dinner pretty much forever.

So tonight we are having inoshishi nabe,

which is a wild boar hot pot,

and I'm so excited.

I've actually been dying to have wild boar,

ever since I came here,

and they told me that they hunt them here.

You can't really have the wild boar coming in

and destroying crops so it's actually legal

to hunt them in this area.

We are about to have this amazing nabe dinner.

I think it's safe to say that I have been looking forward

to this dinner ever since I came to Aya.

(speaking foreign language)

- Yeah.

- Yeah.

Mmmm.

It's really tough and chewing,

but it's a little bit sweet

and it has a bit of an after taste that I really like.

ANNOUNCEMENT: My Vlogumentary Adventures in India and How I Plan On Staying Out of Prison ♥ #Vlog 14 - Duration: 5:03.

Last week I alluded to a new project that I'm going to be working on and announcing this

week, and the new project is...

I'm going to go to India and film a mini-documentary, a vlogumentary, if you like, about matrimonial

dating, and the rise of dating apps in India.

You have the traditional world of matrimonials in India which is essentially Matrimony.com

and Shaadi.com and Jeevansathi.com and now you have the likes of Tinder, and Woo who

are rising, and shaking things up a bit.

So, this seems, at least in my world, rather interesting.

I like to study Internet dating services and this is, I think, quite interesting to the

rest of the dating industry.

The stars have lined up, I'm going to India next week.

I'm going to be there two weeks and I'm going to be talking with the CEOs of these companies,

and hopefully talking to a few end-users as well.

So the difference with this particular style of documentary is its going to be fairly short.

I'm just shooting for 30 to 45 minutes, and I'd like to make it fairly punchy.

I think what I like about the idea of vlogging is that it is honest and everything follows

a timeline.

Everything is in the actual timeline that it happened.

I like the authenticity of that.

I want to follow that same style in this documentary.

If you can call it a documentary.

It's really a vlogumentary.

There is actually a definition for vlogumentary on the Urban Dictionary.

Let's see here.

A vlogumentary is "a do-it-yourself documentary created by a video blogger (vlogger) with

the express purpose of documenting reality and sharing it online without care toward

profit or marketability.

That's the long and the short of it.

I don't care about making money on this.

This is something that just seems like a good thing to do.

It would be interesting to do, at least for me, and the audience that I cater to, which

is Online Personals Watch and the Internet dating industry.

This is a big market that is growing very quickly, and its a market that's changing

quite a lot, and there are some unique cultural nuances of this particular market.

So, that's the new project.

I hope it's interesting.

And the other announcement is, I actually did pass my exams at the London School of

Economics, and so I do actually have a Masters degree now, which I'm thrilled about.

So, what happens next is I fly out on Tuesday.

I'm going to go to Dubai and then over to...

I'm going to be in three cities in India.

I'm going to be going first of all to Delhi, which seems to be where most of the companies

are.

Then I'll be going down to Chennai for a few days to go visit my friend Muru at Matrimony.com

and then I'm going to go visit Gourav who's the CEO of Shaadi.com and maybe even meet

up with Anu who's the fellow who started it many years ago.

That's the line up.

Three cities in India and then I'll be home.

It's going to be a couple weeks of traveling and exploring.

I'm going to take you right along with me, and that's kind of the purpose of this vlogumentary.

You will see what happens.

It's not going to be scripted.

It's not going to be acted out.

It is the God's honest truth of what happens along the way, who I meet, what they have

to say... you know, and then I'll condense it down to the interesting bits.

But it's going to be laid out the same way as it happens.

Hopefully it's interesting.

It will be interesting.

I'm sure.

That's why I'm going.

It's another experiment.

One of the things I'm really not happy about is, there's one thing I can't take to India

because it's not actually allowed.

I could get in trouble for setting this thing free.

I can't take it.

This little fellow [Mavic Pro drone], unfortunately, is not going to be going to India.

They don't want these things flying in India.

They certainly don't want them flying over the Taj Mahal.

Having this come over the Taj Mahal, get a nice shot...

Nope, it's not going to fly.

Literally, it's not going to fly, it's not going to even set down in India.

This cookie is staying at home unfortunately.

A real downer.

The deal is, drones are not allowed to fly anywhere in India.

You need to have a special license, and even that is a work in progress.

They've not even got that established yet.

I thought maybe in Gurgaon, which is quite a modern area of Delhi they might be allowed.

They don't want them anywhere near any built up areas with a lot of people.

Which, if you think about it, makes an awful lot of sense.

This is not that light.

These are quite sharp [blades].

I would not want this landing on my kids' heads.

So I think, kinda the rule over there is, if you happen to crash one of these, you're

going to be in hot water.

If you happen to smuggle one in and fly it around and it's not in a built up area, especially

if it's on private ground, you probably will be fine.

But, I'm not going to risk it.

It's going to stay.

And that's just me being a pussy maybe, but I don't like the idea of going to an Indian

prison.

first of all check your battery usage

if you think your battery is draining faster

Than Just check out your battery statistics

for this just go to your Phone Settings

Hit on battery

In this screen, you can see your battery Graph

by Apps and Services

If you Tap on this Graph

you will get a full detail look

at when the device is awake

How many times it turn On

Wifi, GPS, Mobile Data, etc.

Turn off things you are Not using

Turn off your data Connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth or wifi

whenever you don't need them

Only Turn all these Things when you need them

and there is no need to Turn On both Mobile data and wifi Turned on at all times

or if you want to know more about wifi, I mean how wifi consume more battery

Turn off Vibrate and Haptic Feedback

Turn off haptic feedback and your keyboard vibration. because whenever your phone vibrate it's consume more battery

if possible

Turn off Vibrate Alert for Incoming calls

because It takes More power to vibrate your phone than it does to Ring.

Trims Apps Running in the background

Clear all recent Apps

because too many apps that running in the background

Consume more Ram more Space

and that's also effects on your battery

Turn off Auto Brightness

Don't use display auto-brightness

It may Sound usfull, but auto brighness is usually brighter than you really need

It's better to manually set the Brighness

Black wallpapers

If your phone has Amoled Display

Then obviously Black wallpaper is for Your

Balck wallpper increse battery Life

because amoled screen immulate the color

so the more black pixel you have

less power is needed to light them up

Update Your apps

Apps often get updated to use less battery power, so you should make sura your apps are up to date.

and Don't set your Google Play Store on Auto Update

Always update your apps Manually

So, Today! tadaa I've made an 'an-butter mochi-cheese' fried bun (Eng subs by ~Aphexx)

it looks so delish, this is another in my "deep fried" series of vids I was informed of this recipe by a viewer, TYVM

alrighty lets go see how its made

2 loaves of bread (texas toast sized) first we'll cut off the crusts

add some mashed sweet beans (Anko is where the 'An' comes from in the name of today's dish)

butter, a piece of mochi cut in half, cheese then top it off

some hydrated starch around the perimeter top with bread then crush the edges with a fork

now we'll deep fry these

looks delish! fry this for 5 minutes in ?460? degree oil

with a chopstick or something please check to see if its heated through to the inside

now I'll cut it in 2

whoa!!! looks delish

cover in honey.....

tadaa its completed! looks so delish

the an-butter (anko + butter) alone is delish on its own and then we go overboard and add the mochi and cheese

AND!!!!

we deep fried it all

itadakimasu I'll start with the one I cut in 2

I even covered them in honey its just a mishmash of things I like the most

the sweet bean anko with mochi looks so delish

crazy delish! this legit tastes great

and the honey I drizzled on at the end goes so nicely with this

the anko sweet bean and mochi are truly a great pairing

and the bread is so nice and crispy

delish

its literally a bundle of joy

when you bite into this the melted butter inside just gushes right out.... I can't get enough of that

the flavor of the butter mixes into the anko sweet bean and I love how the saltiness and

the sweetness of them both balance eachother out and mellow out the flavors

an-butt... an butter mochi ..... cheese deepfried bun was absolutely delish

just deep frying it alone made it so delish and then we added so many of my fav things like

anko beans mochi cheese and butter it was the 'bestest'

I loved the honey on top of it as well it added that unique sweetness unlike the anko's

I also love that saltiness from the cheese it goes so great with the an-butter flavors

so um.... I'm feeling at though this thing I made today has an ungodly amount of calories

it was so very delish
