He went on to compliment carmakers Fiat Chrysler and Ford... for deciding to invest more in

On Sunday, Fiat Chrysler announced it would invest around one billion dollars to produce
three Jeep models in the U.S. , which it said would create around two thousand jobs,...

The world is a weird place, full of bizarre discoveries that occasionally defy explanation.
We may never know how that rogue tater tot got to the bottom of your french fries, but
at least we can explain most of these things found in truly bizarre locations.
Missouri's Indian cobras
There are scientific reasons that wildlife shouldn't be relocated all willy-nilly across
the globe, but most people don't really think about the local ecosystem when they release
their goldfish into the local pond.
"It's beautiful!"
Some, however, release far greater terrors into their towns...like deadly Indian cobras,
which are obviously native to southeast Asia.
They're incredibly venomous, and they're known to occasionally kill their owners.
So when they showed up in the gardens of Springfield, Missouri in 1953, people had a good reason
to panic.
Between August and October of that year, around a dozen cobras found in the wild were killed.
The Mowrer Animal Company, which was the most logical source for the snakes, was paid a
visit by the police.
But — plot twist! — they weren't missing any snakes.
It wasn't until 1988 that a man named Carl Barnett came forward to admit that, in an
act of revenge against Mowrer for selling him a sick fish, he'd broken open a crate
of the store's exotic snakes when he was 14, not knowing what they were.
Within two months, all of the snakes were accounted for, dead or alive.
Mostly dead.
Ireland's wallabies
Wallabies typically thrive in the hot weather of Australia, but — against the natural
order of all things — they're also found on an island off the coast of Ireland.
Sure, the country's damp, cool climate is pretty much the opposite of Australia, but
the hoppy bastards somehow thrive on the island of Lambay.
So: how did they get there?
They were imported in the 1950s by the wealthy Baring family, who used the island to raise
all sorts of animals, native climate be damned.
The wallabies survived while many other animals died.
Some experts think their ability to grow heavy fur coats helped them weather Ireland's, uh,
weather.
Even more wallabies were brought to Lambay in the 1980s, when the Dublin Zoo found themselves,
like so many of us have, with an overabundance of wallabies.
Seven wallabies multiplied to somewhere around 40, and visitors might just see an unlikely,
adorable face peeking out at them.
And while the wallabies were never meant to be in Ireland, some other weird animal discoveries
shouldn't exist at all...
The coelacanth
In December of 1938, an East London fisherman netted a bunch of weird fish, and contacted
the local natural history museum to see if they wanted any of his discoveries.
While the gesture might seem strange...
"I caught you a delicious bass."
...it turns out that there really was something amazing in the haul: a coelacanth, a fish
that had supposedly gone extinct around 70 million years earlier, give or take a millennia
or three.
The museum confirmed that the fish was genuinely prehistoric, and since then, scientists have
found members of at least two distinct species of the weird prehistoric fish.
Because they spend most of their time in the deep, dark "twilight" area of the ocean, it's
no wonder we thought they were extinct.
Even now, we're not totally sure what the deal with them is.
And when it comes to weird, watery stories, the coelacanth isn't even the weirdest.
Vermont's whale fossils
In 1849, workers were building a railroad across Vermont when they dug up something
strange in the middle of a farmer's field.
It was a beluga whale...which was 200 miles and a couple of mountain ranges away from
the nearest ocean.
At the time, many looked at the whale skeleton as proof of a biblical a great flood.
Incidentally, the skeleton was almost destroyed in a flood in 1927, and even though she's
still around today, the preservation methods that were used mean we can't accurately date
the bones.
Which, by the way, were partially assembled backwards with wire, boot polish, horse glue,
and burlap.
Researchers have dated her bones to sometime around 12,500 years ago, when glacial ice
receded across the area and created the Champlain Sea.
For the next 2,500 years, the sea was flooded by the Atlantic and, at some point, the whale
died there and was left in what's now best known as an inland state full of hippies.
New Jersey's underwater trains
Where do old trains go to die?
We're not sure, but we're pretty certain the answer isn't the Jersey Shore.
The only thing that goes there to die is dignity.
"I have no idea what this kid's name is, so might as well just give him an ugly name."
Yet in 1985, that's exactly where two Civil War-era locomotives were found, resting off
the coast in about 90 feet of water, with no record of how they got there.
The most plausible theory suggests they were being shipped from Boston when the boat they
were on experienced some trouble and dumped them into the ocean to lighten the load.
Both trains were discovered sitting completely upright, their barnacle-covered wheels sitting
on the ocean floor, as though they were patiently sitting and waiting for their ghost engineer
to come start them up and take them away.
Ocean Beach's tombstones
Anyone walking along Ocean Beach in San Francisco was treated to a completely surreal sight
in 2012.
Rather than the usual beach junk…
"Well, the sea specimens, the stray dogs, the trash that floated over from Europe!"
…they encountered a bunch of 19th century tombstones.
Not creepy at all, right?
Some were so well-preserved that the names and dates were still clearly legible.
So, sorry Delia Presby Oliver, you will no longer be remembered as a lady who tragically
died in childbirth in 1890.
Instead, you're now creepy beach tombstone lady.
That's actually kind of a step up, right?
It turns out that at the turn of the century, lawmakers put an end to all cemeteries within
the city limits, which meant there were a lot of bodies that needed to relocate.
In many cases, the tombstones were left behind, and in this case, the old tombstones were
recycled for building projects, which included using them to build a grisly seawall.
Erosion did what erosion does, and revealed the rather odd recycling project.
Again, sorry, Delia.
Don't think of your new mass grave as a punishment for being buried in the wrong place… think
of it as a super-exclusive cuddle party for the no-longer-living!

Despite rise in production, investment, faltering consumption may hamper growth - Duration: 2:05.
Well noted of the government concerns is in the finance ministry's monthly "greenbook."
It says Asia's fourth-largest economy is facing the risk of losing further growth momentum...
as private consumption remains on wobbly grounds.
Shin Se-min shares with us the details of Korea's latest monthly assessment.
The finance ministry said in its monthly economic report, the Green Book,… that despite a
slight rebound in exports, Korea may not regain its recovery momentum,… as consumption is
still posting negative growth.
The report says that the industrial output in November grew 3-point-4 percent on-month,
from a 1-point-3 percent drop the previous month,… and construction investment surged
6-percent, with facility investment growing 5-point-9 percent.
But consumption remained on shaky ground.
Retail sales figures dove zero-point-two percent,… in a sharp turnaround from a 5-point-2 percent
gain in October.
Consumer sentiment also dropped to a near eight-year low in November,… hit hard by
a local political scandal that's discouraged spending.
The news for the financial markets is similarly grim.
With the U.S. Federal Reserve expected to boost its base rate three times this year,…
Korea's central bank doesn't have much room to maneuver,... as it can't easily raise its
key rate because of growing household debt nor can it cut the rate further, which would
only prompt more Koreans to take out loans.
At the same time, it's watching foreign capital being pulled out from the local market.
With the multiple uncertainties ahead,… the ministry says it will boost its expansionary
fiscal policy to counter some of the external and internal factors and hopefully lift the
momentum for growth.
The government had previously announced that it would inject 31% of this year's 334-billion
U.S. dollar budget in the first three months of the year… to boost the economy.

If so, you're being emotionally selfish by not listening, and not reaching out.

How does cancer cope with genetic chaos? - Duration: 3:46.
As cancers grow, the cancer cells pick up all sorts of changes, errors and mutations in their genes.
A huge diversity of cancer cells emerges, making the tumour very hard to treat.
Healthy human cells have 23 pairs of chromosomes that package up our DNA.
When a cell grows and divides, all the chromosomes are copied
And a complete set of 23 pairs is carried across into each of the new cells.
But cells can make mistakes
For example, accidentally swapping bits of DNA around within or between chromosomes.
They might lose parts of chromosomes, or make too many copies
Or carry across the wrong number of chromosomes into the new cells
This is called Chromosomal Instability, and can contribute to cancer progression and resistance to therapy.
Luckily, cells have a number of safety mechanisms in place.
Protein molecules check the DNA for faults and stop cells with damaged chromosomes from dividing.
If the damage is particularly bad, these safety mechanisms can even force a cell to self-destruct.
Researchers at the Francis Crick Institute and UCL, led by Charlie Swanton,
have identified new ways in which cancer cells can get around these DNA-checking proteins.
One way in which this can happen, they have found, is by blocking a fail-safe that causes cells with faulty DNA to self-destruct.
Other new results show that cancer cells with badly damaged genomes
have alterations in the machinery that helps chromosomes separate in cell division.
The cancer cells take a little longer to divide,
which gives them enough time to avoid making excessive mistakes when distributing chromosomes.
This avoids activating the cell's self-destruct button.
And in order to keep growing, the tumour selects for the survival of cancer cells
that have balanced the amount of healthy chromosomes and faulty chromosomes in their genome.
This keeps them in a Goldilocks zone, where the amount of genetic instability is just right.
Too little genetic instability, and the tumours can't evolve and are easier to treat.
Too much chromosomal instability and their genomes become too damaged and they can't divide any more.
So the tumour environment selects cancer cells that stay in the Goldilocks zone
where the amount of genetic instability is just right for them to keep evolving
and escape treatments that suppress cancer growth.
But if we can tip the balance to either extreme
we could push cancer cells out of their Goldilocks zone.
By either allowing the faulty parts of the genome to mend
or increasing the faults so the cancer cells are too damaged to keep growing
we might have a better chance of stopping cancer growth and drug resistance.

#9 Calcified Bladder What's worse than a parasitic worm infection?
A parasitic worm infection that causes a "calcified bladder" — a condition that probably feels
every bit as uncomfortable as it sounds.
Just remember, when we say a "calcified bladder" we really mean a bladder, that
has turned, or is slowly turning to stone.
A 43-year-old man in Qatar found out just how excruciatingly uncomfortable a calcified
bladder can be.
He had blood in his urine and pain when he peed for a month before doctors diagnosed
him with an infection by the parasite Schistosoma, which is transmitted by freshwater snails.
Eggs of the parasite ended up on the wall of the man's bladder, and his body's immune
response caused these areas of the bladder wall to become calcified in a pattern known
as "eggshell calcification,".
This is one of those weird instances when the human body gets it very wrong.
It's trying to combat something, but ends up turning one of your most important most
delicate organs into a giant rock!
While this kind of calcification as a result of schistosomiasis isn't rare, it is unusual
for doctors to see a patient with an entire bladder encased in calcium, since it takes
years for that much calcium to build up inside the body.
The patient's doctors suspected that the man actually became infected with the parasite
as a child and that he lived with it for at least 30 years before doctors prescribed a
treatment.
Go to the doctor guys if you ever feel a funny pain!!
#8 elephantisasis This is a rare, but surprisingly well known
affliction.
Okay, technically elephantisasis is only a very unfortunate symptom of something else.
Let me explain: The root cause of this condition is worms.
A parasitic worm known as a filarial worm that's transmitted into the bloodstream
via a mosquito bite.
Most people will live with this parasite without ever really noticing any symptoms.
Others aren't so lucky…
Some people develop a syndrome called elephantiasis, which is marked by severe swelling in the
arms, legs, or genitals.
And when I say swelling, I mean serious swelling!
It's not called elephantiasis for nothing.
The skin may also become thicker, and the condition is extremely painful.
There are medications available to kill the parasite, so early intervention will of course,
produce the best result.
There apparently are surgical options if the elephantiasis affects the testicles, but not
the limbs.
I guess THAT'S comforting…..pfffft!
#7 Disappearing Face If you seem to be spontaneously transforming
into a Superman villain without having a chemical accident to blame for your new, scary, imploding
face— you may just have Parry-Romberg syndrome.
This terrible condition makes the skin and soft tissues of half of your face slowly cave
in.
The worst part is, just because sometimes nature likes to be extra nice, generally only
half of your face caves in.
You end up looking like half your face got stampeded by elephants (or people with elephantiasis
for that matter).
Since caving half your face in isn't obviously enough, Parry-Romberg syndrome also discolors
the skin, sinks your eyeball back into your skull, and causes your jaw to stop opening
properly.
And, just in case that isn't enough torture, some people experience additional side effects
such as migraines, seizures, and muscle spasms in the "regular" half of their face.
Parry Romberg Syndrome is a type of Lipodystrophy.
Lipodystrophy translates to "fat loss," which you'd normally think of as a good thing -- right
up until you lose all of it.
See, a nice layer of fat is what gives your face everything that makes it recognizable
-- such as cheeks and lips.
Lipodystrophy is a common side effect of powerful antiretroviral drugs, meaning that if you
happen to be fighting HIV, the universe still isn't quite finished kicking you in the balls.
You could end up with a concaving face along with your collapsing immune system.
Don't think you're safe from this condition by avoiding HIV however: There are dozens
of factors, ranging from environmental to genetic, that could cause you to transform
into Skeletor without warning.
#6 Water Allergy
As the majority of our body is made out of water, it seems impossible that an allergy
to water could even exist.
But impossible means nothing on this list.
You may argue that Aquagenic ur-tih-care-ee-al isn't a true pure blood allergy because
it doesn't trigger a histamine response.
Okay, fine, but there is the development of itchy hives and welts even after mere minutes
of water exposure.
This condition is very rare, and the cause still hasn't been properly established.
Scientists have speculated that the water itself isn't the cause, but rather specific
chemicals or impurities that are ubiquitous within the water are the root cause.
However, even purified water can trigger a reaction for certain individuals.
Sooooo, that brings us back to blaming water.
The most common treatment is topical application of capsaicin, which is used to relieve pain.
Ultraviolet radiation is also commonly used alongside antihistamines to help rid the patient
of lesions and outbreaks caused by this condition.
This therapy will cause thickening of the epidermis which can prevent water from penetrating
this layer and interacting with the cells underneath.
#5 Clarkson's Disease Can you imagine…….people blow up and expand
like human water balloons.
If there was ever something you don't want to hear from your doctor it would be the phrase
"you are leaking".
If it's something you don't want your car or your fridge doing, it's a pretty safe bet
that you don't want your body to be doing it either.
If you do happen to hear that from your doctor, unfortunately, you may be dealing with Clarkson's
disease.
Clarkson's disease is also known as systemic capillary leak syndrome.
As the name suggests, it's what happens when your blood vessels start leaking plasma all
of a sudden.
Yes, and the "plasma" doesn't refer to blood either.
All that extra fluid has nowhere to go but into the sponge-like tissues of your skin
and vital organs.
So you just start expanding.
Episodes typically take around three days to reach a peak, a time where you'll go from
your normal usual self to a bloated, squishy walrus-like version.
The only treatment is to basically just wait.
And just in case that's not terrifying enough, you should know that it doesn't take much
to go from just plain bloated to dead and bloated: Every single episode has the potential
to straight-up pop one of your vital organs!
Scientists actually know very little about what causes this condition.
There's no real pattern as to whom and when it strikes, although we do know that it usually
develops after an upper-respiratory infection -- so the next cold you catch may be the one
that turns you into a swollen sack of blood and nightmares.
The only thing we know for certain is that once you have your first attack, it won't
be your last.
You will most likely have to spend the rest of your life randomly inflating and deflating.
#4 Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva
Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is a progressive genetic disorder that turns soft
tissues into bone over time.
Remember that guy whose bladder turned into a giant stone?
Well this is pretty much the same…but all over the body!
The gene found in bone, muscles, tendons, and ligaments regulates growth and development
of those tissues, and is normally responsible for turning cartilage into bone as children
develop.
However, mutations of this gene can allow ossification to go unchecked, which can even
turn skeletal muscle into bone and cause joints to fuse together.
The disease is caused by a mutation of the body's repair mechanism, which causes fibrous
tissue, which includes muscle, tendon, and ligament, to be ossified spontaneously or
when damaged.
In many cases, injuries can cause joints to become permanently frozen in place.
So if you break an arm or something worse...it just freezes itself together in the awkward
broken position.
Surgical removal of the extra bone growths has also been shown to cause the body to "repair"
the affected area with even more bone.
Unfortunately, that awkward broken area tends to get chunkier with time.
This disorder occurs in about 1 in 2 million people, and there are currently no treatments
or cures.
Trauma exacerbates the condition, and again, any attempts to remove bone surgically just
results in the body producing even more bone in the area.
Basically, anyone with this condition is definitely not participating in any contact sports.
#3 Epidermodysplasia verruciformis
What appears to be tree bark growing out of someone's skin is actually a condition called
Epidermodysplasia verruciformis.
Of course, it isn't actually tree bark, but it's just stuff that sure looks a lot
like it unfortunately!
These tree-like growths are actually just very extreme warts that can be exacerbated
by exposure to sunlight.
While these warts may be benign early in life, they can become malignant later in life.
The warts are caused by a rare mutation of the EVER1/EVER2 genes.
Though the function of the genes isn't really well-understood, the mutations cause the skin
to be extremely susceptible to human papilloma viruses 5 and 8, which typically don't cause
disease.
While there are some treatment options available to mitigate the symptoms, there is no cure.
Oh…and yes that was HPV…as in the STD that 80% of sexually active people have!
#2 Cutaneous Horn
Can you imagine a person with horns growing out of their head?!
The people that you happen to see with this incredibly rare affliction will be walking
around with little horns on their eyelids, or even with a single big horn on their foreheads.
These people are suffering from keratinous skin tumors with the appearance of horns,
or sometimes of wood or coral.
The cause of cutaneous horns is still unknown, but it's believed that exposure to radiation
can trigger the condition.
This is evidenced by a higher rate of cases occurring on the face and hands - areas that
are often exposed to sunlight.
Other cases have reported cutaneous horns arising from burn scars.
Some researchers actually believe that it's caused by a particular strain of HPV.
You know, that pesky STD that most people have that we discussed before.
So, yeah.
Technically your figurative horniness, which could lead to recklessness, which in turn
could lead to literal horniness!!
#1 Xeroderma pigmentosum
This condition, in a nutshell, is a hypersensitivity to sunlight.
Almost all exposure to ultraviolet light, which is something inevitable living on planet
earth, leads to severe skin damage and the formation of various skin cancers.
This in effect is living the life of a vampire, except without the benefits of being an actual
vampire.
Xeroderma pigmentosum, or XP, is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disorder of DNA repair in
which the ability to repair damage caused by UV light is deficient.
In extreme cases, all exposure to sunlight must be forbidden, no matter how small; as
such, individuals with the disease are often colloquially referred to as "Moon children".
This disease is present in both genders and in all races, with an incidence of about 4
cases for every million people in the United States.
XP is roughly six times more common in Japanese people than in other groups.
The most obvious, and often important part of treatment, is avoiding exposure to sunlight.
This includes wearing protective clothing and using sunscreen, physical and chemical.
Unfortunately, fewer than 40% of individuals with the disease survive beyond the age of
20.
Some XP victims with less severe cases do manage to live well into their 40s however.

five steps to create your Social Media Plan for your Pet Business. Make sure you stay

Template. Step 1 is to Brainstorm. You are going to
brainstorm and write down every single topic that you can come up with that you are going
to want to discuss throughout the year. The best thing I think is to have at least 6 to
12 months planned ahead that way you are not wasting time at the last minute trying to
come up with something and having a hard time with it. Just brainstorm as much as you can.
Step 2 is to put your topics into a more concise and coherent list. For instance, if you are
a dog trainer, and one month you are going to be talking about beginning tips that you
want to make sure that you do to train your dog like sit and stay, the next month after
that you may not want to talk about off leash training because it's going to be too far
of a gap. So, if you have them all written down, you can then go and look at them and
decide a good flow and order of them to go throughout the year so that your entire content
seems to have a better flow to it. That will help you tremendously throughout your year.
Step 3 is to break the topics down into weekly tips. Now you've basically gone from 0 to
12 to 48 topics. Step 4 is to Take Action - Just Do It! "A
goal without a plan is just a wish!" That's why writing everything down, putting it in
order so that you can then take action. Let's say you are a groomer and your monthly
topic is Paw Health and your weekly tip has to do with the importance of trimming your
pet's nails. So you go through and show them how you do it differently to reduce the
stress for the animal and different tips about why trimming their nails is a very important
thing for their pet's health. So a lot of people aren't going to do their pet's
nails themselves so they will come to you because they've seen how you do it differently.
The other thing is to take this opportunity to offer them 12 nail trims for the price
of 10. They can get a package deal. That's a great thing to add to the end of your social
media for the month so that they can come in and schedule that and get those 12 for
10 and get a great deal and you've got a customer that's got a package deal coming
in more than once. Step 5 is to Review, review and review some
more. Ok, so the best thing about an entrepreneur or small business is that you can easily change
what you're doing. What you are working on is not set in stone. So if something comes
up throughout the year that you think is a great topic and is very timely and you don't
want to miss out on it, by all means, change that calendar. Actually, I like to write down
my entire calendar in pencil because I'm constantly making little tweaks to it and
if something comes up that I want to make sure that I hit on because it's something
that's hot that everybody's talking about, I want to do it as fast as I can. So, go ahead,
make those changes and I always like to keep my notes with me so that if anything comes
up that I think of that I might not want to do immediately, but I might wan to keep in
mind for the next year, I write that down so I've got those topics in my notes and
I can remember them. And now for your BONUS TIP. Remember when
you're making your content for your blog, make sure that it is Evergreen content. So,
what I mean by that is something that you can share year-round. For instance, February
is pet dental health month. So while you might write a blog about pet dental health and you
may share that throughout the entire year because pet dental health is important 12
months out of the year, not just in February. You're going to want to do your blog and
you're not going to want to talk about specifically pet dental health month, you'll want to
talk about dental health. Then what you can do is in February you can make sure that you
add some graphics and maybe change a few things, headings and talk about pet dental health
month being in February and also if you've got a coupon if you're selling pet dental
toothpaste, pet toothbrush, toys that help with that, anything that you've got a special
going on. If you're a veterinarian, a lot of veterinarians have specials in February
for dental cleanings. So you can do those graphics, share them out on social media and
link back to your blog. That is something that you can do, then make sure at the end
of the month that your blog doesn't have anything that specifically say February. That
way you can share that blog that you've created that content for all year round. That's
evergreen content. Content that can be shared no matter what time of year it is.
