Sahel Desertification - Duration: 3:51.

Hello. This video will be very brief and about Sahel desertification.

What is the Sahel?

This is Africa - the northwest part of Africa. The Sahel is that region approximately. It is a zone in between the Sahara desert

to the north and the wetter, tropical Africa to the south. So it's a semi-arid grassland which

has been turning more and more into a desert. Or acquiring desert-like characteristics

particularly since the 1950s. But ever more so in recent decades. So that process where an

area which is not desert becomes increasingly desert-like is desertification.

So why is the Sahel

becoming more and more like a desert?

There was a lot of research and debate about this

with some groups arguing it's more of a climate issue, other groups arguing, no humans are responsible.

Um

I think both sides have logic to them. I think both sides are probably correct.

So on the climate side is simply an acknowledgment that the -

there are warming trends and cooling trends historically that we know of. And we know in the past

the Sahel - I'm sorry the Sahara desert has expanded

its extent to the south and then retreated, expanded and retreated. So this could be seen in that context where this is just a sort of

expansion of the desert due to climatic cycles. Maybe due to global warming which is not a

natural climate cycle but a human-caused phenomenon. But it might be some somewhere related

to one of those issues. On the other side there are human factors.

The Sahel a very highly populated region of Africa and many of the people who live there are

either herders or farmers who are relatively poorly educated

and their numbers have gone way way up. Possibly because the high infant mortality rate

there's a very high birth rate. So there's a high population putting a lot of pressure

to

um raise either herds of animals or crops. So instead of

perennial type crops and grow all year round which are better for the soil there's been a shift

towards intensive cultivation of annuals which grow and die seasonally.

Including peanuts.

Peanuts, uh, were domesticated in Africa originally.

Colonial administrators encouraged their production

in Niger and other areas. Peanuts are very disruptive to the soil. You have to pull them out of the ground right at the onset of the dry

season. They weaken the soil structure. That may have contributed to desertification. Millet is another crop grown intensively.

And herders are bringing herds of cattle into the desert and eating the grass. This all contributes to desertification.

Because if you destroy the grass the sunlight goes straight to the surface of the soil, dries out the soil more,

makes it harder for vegetation to grow in that area. So we have

increasingly desert-like conditions in the Sahel, which is a very big issue for food supply.

That's very dry looking. Here are two of the typical crops that are grown, peanuts and millet.

Here's a - not a huge herd of sheep or whatever those are but a - you know, they're eating the vegetation that's there.

Uh, just looks very arid and it is a major problem for those people who live in the Sahel today.

And that's all we'll say about that for now. Thank you.

Airbus Says Flying Cars Are Coming in 2017 - Duration: 3:01.

Airbus Says Flying Cars Are Coming in 2017

by Brett Tingley.

I think we can all agree that one of the most disappointing things about our current technological

era is the fact that we dont have flying cars yet.

Tiny computers capable of instant worldwide communication are neat and all, but if science

fiction has promised us anything over the decades, its flying cars.

Between drone technology and jetpacks, its clear that aerospace technology is getting

smaller and smaller every year.

Whats holding back the flying car?

For one thing, infrastructure.

Cities arent yet designed with aerial vehicles in mind.

Aside from that massive, costly hurdle, flying car technology actually seems just around

the corner.

At this years Digital Life Design conference in Munich, Airbus CEO Tom Enders told attendees

that his company is developing a prototype ready to be tested by the end of 2017.

To meet this lofty goal, Airbus has launched an entire division, Urban Air Mobility, devoted

to the research and development of flying car technology.

Their ultimate goal is the development of mobile app-hailed flying car systems similar

to car sharing apps like Uber and Lyft.

Naturally, the cars are being designed to be autonomous.

Were all going to be unemployed soon due to robots, remember?

Enders told the crowd that this new segment of Airbus research is a natural progression

on the timeline of human travel: One hundred years ago, urban transport went

underground, now we have the technological wherewithal to go above ground.

We are in an experimentation phase, and we take this development very seriously.

If we ignore these developments, we will be pushed out of important segments of the business.

Enders also stated that he believes within just a few decades Airbus could have massive

autonomous electric air vehicles capable of shuttling dozens of passengers and which could

become integral parts of urban infrastructure:

Given that the wildly popular car sharing service Uber is already reportedly working

on autonomous flying vehicles, it seems more and more likely that future generations will

never know the joys of carefree hours spent behind the wheel on open country roads much

less driving at all.

Oh well, such is the course of history and progress. After all, I never learned

how to churn butter or use an abacus, and Im doing just fine.

Except for when I want butter

Famous Biographies: Franz Kafka - Duration: 6:43.

Narrated by Gregor Samsa.

Hällo, guten tag!

So you've come to escape the nightmare of reality to enter another man's life...

Good choice.

As you can imagine, no man or creature is better suited to guide you.

My world is my creator's: Herr Franz Kafka.

As he once said, "As soon as you admit to yourself that it is you yourself, you feel

as though transfixed and are horrified."

Well, prepare to be horrified.

Born July 3, 1883 in Prague, my creator, Franz, was the first of six children.

It was a brief, bleak life for the Kafka siblings.

His two brothers died in infancy, and his three sisters were murdered by the Nazis during

the Holocaust, which Franz did not survive long enough to see.

Franz was raised in a middle-class, Jewish family, though not particularly observant.

Feelings of isolation consumed Herr Kafka's life.

He even feared his own father, seeing him as an arrogant brute, though he kept that

to himself.

Wisely so.

Franz attended German language schools up through college, where he eventually studied law.

A decent student, but far from a standout, his passion was elsewhere.

It was in the literary club that he exceled.

Here, Herr Kafka found not only his passion, but also lifelong friends, including Max Brod—his

eventual literary executor and biographer.

Though I think I'm doing a fine job myself.

A couple years after graduating college in 1906, young Franz worked at the Workers Auto

Insurance Institute government agency handling workers' compensation insurance.

The work was as inspiring as it sounds.

As in….it was not.

It was simply a means to make money.

Every day consisted of work until early afternoon, then lunch, rest, exercise, and dinner with

the family.

At the time, Franz still lived at home, which is a nightmare in its own right, no?

Finally, at about 11PM, there was time to sit down and write until sleep overtook him.

Despite such a busy schedule, hard work paid off.

After just a few months, Hyperion magazine published his first series of short stories.

But that wasn't enough for Franz.

Nothing could calm his appetite to write.

He even once said, "God does not want me to write, but I—I must."

Kafka…the original rebel without a cause.

In the late 1920s, anti-Semitism began to spread through Eastern Europe.

This deeply upset Herr Kafka.

His relationship with Judaism was… complicated.

He admired its writing and theatre, but was

disgusted by how his identity as a Jew alienated him from what was considered the norm.

This suffering only worsened his depression and anxiety.

Kafka said: "What an effort to stay alive!

Erecting a monument does not require the expenditures of so much strength!"

But there was a shining light among the sadness and woe.

In 1912, at Max Brod's house, Kafka met and fell in love with Felice Bauer <bough-er>.

They exchanged over 500 letters in their five years together.

That same year, Herr Kafka's first book, Contemplations—a collection of short stories—

was published.

In 1914, he published what many consider to be his most "Kafkaesque" story,

"The Trial".

Kafkaesque, as in happy sunshine and rainbows raining skittles.

Just kidding.

It's actually more dark rain clouds and spiders and stuff.

In "The Trial," Josef K, the protagonist, is arrested for an unnamed crime.

No one will explain what he was arrested for or why.

He is then hounded by shadowy authority figures, following him everywhere he goes.

This dark tale was an eerie foreshadowing of the totalitarian rule that swept Europe

years later.

That's right, in addition to his writing talents, Kafka was a bit of a fortune teller, too.

That April, Kafka overcame his nerves and proposed to Felice…

And then lost that nerve and broke it off three months later.

3 years later, Kafka realized his mistake and proposed again…

Then broke it off again, 5 months later.

Poor Fräulein Bauer.

Finally, in December 1915, the world was blessed with Kafka's greatest work, The Metamorphosis.

This was the only novel my creator completed in his lifetime.

The story is about me, Gregor Samsa.

I was a simple traveling salesman until I woke to find myself transformed into this:

a bug… insect… vermin.

I don't know how it happened, but I literally transformed into what I have always felt myself

to be: stranger to my home, stranger to my family, even stranger to myself.

I have Herr Kafka's feelings toward his own life to thank for my metamorphosis.

There's so much alienation in this book, it might as well be called E.T..

Anyway, enough about me.

The next stage of Franz's life is dreary enough.

In August of 1917, he began to cough blood—the first sign of tuberculosis.

Franz had to take a leave from work – the one perk of being sick – and was taken care

of by his younger sister, Ottilie.

He traveled to various sanatoriums throughout Europe.

But his health continued to deteriorate.

In 1920, knowing death was near, he asked Max Brod to

burn all but a few of his papers.

Thankfully, Max did not carry out this wish, or I would not be the famous critter I am today.

A complication of tuberculosis made it painful for Herr Kafka to eat.

Mirroring his main character in "A Starving Artist", Kafka slowly starved to death.

On June 1924, Franz Kafka passed away.

He was 40 years old.

A short, tragic life—much like the bleak short stories he left behind.

Alas, he is gone in body, but not in spirit.

Kafka's tales of struggle still speak to us today from beyond the grave.

His pain then is our pain now.

A never-ending search for identity, for love, and for meaning in a world that seems to pay

no mind to these pains that plague our minds.

On that uplifting note…

Have a vunderval day.

And watch out for rolled-up newspapers.

permanent Structure Discovered on Venus – UFO Hunters Claim it's Alien Made - Duration: 5:29.

permanent Structure Discovered on Venus UFO Hunters Claim its Alien-Made

by UFOholic.

Why isnt NASA all over this?

Underneath Venus acid clouds, UFO hunters claim, rests a permanent structure that seems

to suggest the planet was not only visited in the distant past it was deemed secure

enough to house massive outposts!

Today, Venus is a hellhole.

Although its size and composition has earned it the nickname of Earths Sister, the reality

is you wouldnt last 3 seconds on its surface.

Calling Venus climate unpleasant would be a gross understatement.

With surface temperatures high enough to melt lead and an atmospheric pressure 90 times

greater than what we have here, Venus would be near the bottom on your list of exotic

vacation spots.

Come for the thrills, stay for the sulphuric acid rains!

Just to drive the point home, the longest a man-made probes ever survived on its

surface was a little over two hours.

The Soviet Venera 13 landed, took a few photos and measurements and then succumbed to the

infernal conditions.

But, astronomers determined, Venus wasnt always this way.

Like Mars, it is almost certain at one point in the distant past, Venus had a much lighter

atmosphere and oceans of liquid water on its surface.

It got the way it is today because of global volcanic eruptions and a runaway greenhouse

effect.

As CO2 and other greenhouse gasses accumulated in the atmosphere, temperatures rose, water

turned to steam and the planets habitability index dropped below the threshold.

Recently, alien hunters have spotted an enormous, apparently stationary structure underneath

Venus thick layer of acid clouds.

Responsible for the discovery is Tyler Glockner, self-entitled conveyor of the exposure

of the alien phenomenon.

The video he uploaded to YouTube shows what looks like an enormous curving band that stretches

along a portion of the planets circumference.

Scientists have yet to ever see something as massive as what is being depicted here

on Venus. Glockner added: Maybe this is something

else all together.

Some sort of massive structure hidden in the clouds.

Or possibly a grouping of something.

All coming together to form this giant band.

[]

You always hear about Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto but you really dont hear about

Venus.

Maybe theres something about this planet they dont want us to know.

The scientific community was quick to dismiss Glockners hypothesis because caution saved

the scientists career.

If prominent figures suddenly started backing every outrageous claim involving aliens, their

credibility would drop lower than Venus real estate value.

Their explanation for the unusual band on the planet is gravity waves.

Not to be confused with gravitational waves (ripples in space-time), gravity waves form

when there is a difference in the atmospheric pressure of two neighboring regions.

Think of clouds going over a mountain and youve got a pretty good picture.

Gravity waves are an atmospheric phenomenon we often see in mountainous parts of Earths

surface.

Crudely speaking, they form when air ripples over bumpy surfaces, French astrophysicist

and atmospheric climate expert Jean-Loup Bertaux told Fox News.

The waves propagate upwards and grow larger and larger until they break below the cloud

top and forms a wave, he added.

If theres one thing Venus is known for, it has to be strange cloud formations.

So while gravity waves could potentially account for the weird structure, there is no proof

it was actually caused by a mountain.

The planets strange history parallels our present and its present might foretell ours.

Mankind sent only a handful of probes to Venus surface and to be completely honest, our knowledge

of our next door neighbor is superficial.

Taking this into consideration, it would be unwise to claim there are no alien relics

on Venus.

Until we succeed in mapping its surface (and we might never get to), there is plenty of

room for sensible speculation.

At the end of the day, Glockner remains convinced what he saw on Venus is proof of ancient (or

even present) alien habitation.

He says gravity waves only last for a few days before dissipating.

On the other hand, the strange band has been there for a while and shows no signs of disappearing

anytime soon.

Does The Camera Really Add Ten Pounds? - Duration: 2:12.

You might have heard people say that the camera adds ten pounds, or around four and a half

kilograms if you want to get metric about it.

And sure, it's a cliché, but it also holds a bit of truth about the way cameras don't

quite capture the world the way our eyes see it.

A lot goes into taking a picture, but there are two main things that might make you /think/

you look a little wider on camera.

The first is the fact that most cameras are cyclopses: the lens is their only eye.

Most of us perceive the world through two eyes, where one can see a bit behind things

that are directly in front of the other.

Our brains stitch together the two images to give us a sense of depth.

But a camera usually doesn't have a second "eye" to see around something in front

of it, like a face.

So, compared to your normal eyesight, your brain might think a face in a photo or video

is wider, since it covers up more of what's behind it than you're used to.

And secondly, you might /think/ you look one way, but cameras have a different perspective.

You're probably used to seeing your face relatively close-up in a mirror, with your

ears a couple centimeters back, and your nose a couple centimeters closer.

Since a few centimeters is a big fraction of that face-mirror distance, your face appears

slightly longer and thinner.

But cameras can be much farther away, making your face appear a little wider or flatter.

Not to mention, each camera lens has something called focal length, which can influence how

you and the background look.

A camera lens focuses incoming light rays so that they meet at a point, and form a sharp,

clear image.

Focal length describes the distance between the spot inside the camera where the light

rays meet and where the sensor detects the image.

And it's usually measured in millimeters.

Shorter focal lengths mean you get a wider view of a scene.

They can make closer things appear relatively bigger, and farther things appear relatively

smaller, which leads to that same face-narrowing effect.

On the other hand, longer focal lengths capture a more zoomed-in image, which you can use

to take a photo from farther away, or focus on a smaller part of a scene.

And if your subject is a person, they might look a little flatter or stretched-out.

So sometimes, the camera can /seem/ like it adds ten pounds.

But don't sweat it – that selfie probably came out fine!

answers coming.

an important play to see because I think this tension is ever present in the modern work force.

It took a couple minutes to catch my breath because it was such a shock

and it was such an emotional thing that is time relevant

to today. I justfeel like a lot of people are really stuck in this realm, that they go crazy,

they're really stressed out, and he brought that to life, and I think everyone can relate to it.

It blew me away, the play made me think and made me harken back to Arthur Miller,

someones got to pay attention. From start to finish, you never really knew what was coming

you were just sort of caught in these characters small, ultimately petty, worlds withoug giving anything

away, you're just ripped right out of the smallness of their lives.

Brutal Honesty - Duration: 5:09.

Welcome to Network Marketing Pro my name is Eric Worre,

and today I want to talk

about something, that might make you a

little bit uncomfortable. I think

self-awareness, is one of the most

important attributes of an entrepreneur.

Understanding yourself, understanding

what it is that you're really doing.

Understanding the gaps in efficiency, and

productivity, that exist in any business.

Because, it's with that understanding we

can go fix anything. But if we ignore it,

we take ourselves out of the ability to

fix things. We become tossed this

way, and that way, by fate, by circumstance.

Okay. And I don't want you to be a victim

of fate or circumstance. I want you to be

in charge of your business.

So, when I talk about start self-awareness,

let me tell you what I mean. Are you

working this as a business, or is it just

a little tiny, hobby thing? And, if I was

working with you personally, I would ask

you some questions. If you invested a

hundred thousand dollars into your

distributorship, your network marketing

distributorship, would your

level of energy, and effort, be any

different than it is right now? And I

would say for 99.999%, of the people who

are watching this video,

the answer is, of course it would be more.

And my response to that, is why? Why would it

be more? You're upside potential, is

the same regardless, of, if you have a

hundred-thousand-dollar investment, or a

thousand dollars or less, inside of

network marketing,

it's the same. But, what you're telling me,

is that, you're more interested, you would be

more motivated, to get the money back

that you invested, that hundred thousand

dollars into your business, you would be more

motivated, if you had invested that in

first, in order to be able to make

yourself go to work. And that tells me,

you think more like an employee, then you

think like an entrepreneur. A couple

other self-awareness questions, these are

hard questions, but they're real.

How much would you pay someone to do

what you've done for the

30 days, in dollars?

How much would you pay, somebody else, to

do what you've done, in your network

marketing for the past 30 days? If the

answer is, not much, then we can't expect to

get much, can we? You have to, if you're

going to be an entrepreneur, you have to

face these issues, you have to examine

the fact, of where are you with skills,

where are you with mindset, where are you

with strategy? Where are you at with

commitment? Where are you at with passion?

Where are you at with consistency, and

persistence, and everything else required

of being an entrepreneur? You can't just

cross your fingers and hope for the best.

I'd love it if that would, if network

marketing worked out that way, and maybe you

joined, because you thought you could get

something for nothing. But here's the

truth.

Network marketing, is an entrepreneurial

starter kit. It will give you all the

tools you need to be an entrepreneur, and

it'll give you an opportunity, for a

fraction of the cost of other

entrepreneurial opportunities, the

fraction of the risk, but you still have

to learn how to think different,

you still got to be committed, you still

have to bring passion,

you still got to develop your skills, you

still got to change your mindset, you

still have to create strategy, you still

have to be consistent, every day, or, stop

expecting, so much in results. Self-awareness,

get aware of where you're at, and where

you need to go.There is a gap between

where you are now, where you could be.

Your job as an entrepreneur is to close

that gap, is to raise yourself up to your

potential, and see a big future for

yourself.

Alright. So take a self awareness test

for you. Decide that you're going to go

into your business, from this day forward,

with your eyes open. Because when you do

that, you have the ability to solve any

problem. That's our show for today. Hope

you got value from it. If you know somebody

who needs to hear the message that

I just shared, share this with them. And

I'll see you tomorrow. Take care bye-bye.

Schmidt And Cece Want To Be The Cool House In The Neighborhood | Season 6 Ep. 14 | NEW GIRL - Duration: 1:10.

-Hey.

Hey.

Made a list of rules for our guests.

Obviously no one's wearing shoes in the house,

but what if we put a foot washing

stations in the driveway?

Babe, I was thinking, maybe we have no rules.

Well, because growing up, all the cool houses

didn't have rules. Remember?

I was never invited to any of the cool houses.

My only friend in high school was my piano teacher,

and then he got that boyfriend with the Trans Am,

and I never saw him again.

I really wish I could travel back in time

and give young you a hug.

Yeah, well, young me would have greeted

that hug with an immediate collapse in orgasm.

-Oh. -But, you know what?

Maybe you're right.

If we want to be the place where friends gather--

maybe we gotta chill.

Yeah, because we-- we want to be the hub, you know?

We'd make such a good hub.

Yes, we would.

We'd make such a good hub.

Are you having an orgasm right now?

Are you kidding me?

We're going to Ikea

and it's really scary

It's raining a lot and flooding on the freeway

I can feel the water pullin on the steering wheel

Parking is packed today

We parked right in the front

there's signs every where, but not this one

I'm assuming there's no

no rules

E: yeah

E: There's no sign

You see, there's that one

E: And then there's this one for that one

E: but this one has no sign

E: I don't know

If we have any problems then we'll just say there was no sign there

E: Very very observant, babe

I love going to Ikea

Ellen used to have that one

Remember that?

E: Yeah

You didn't like it

E: I didn't like it because I was in the corner

E: I was shoved in the corner

But later you were like I hate it. I want to get rid of it

Oscar Nominations 2017: Black Actors Represented at Academy Awards, Moonlight, Fences - Duration: 1:40.

Finally some representation from the Oscars!

Oscar voters gave "La La Land" 14 nominations, a tie with "Titanic" and "All About

Eve" for the most in Academy Award history.

It appears the academy moved past the "#OscarsSoWhite" years by honoring six black actors.

The Academy recognized diverse films like "Moonlight," "Fences" and "Hidden

Figures" for Best Picture.

"Moonlight" is a poetic drama about a young black man in Miami.

Not one black actor has been nominated in the past two years for an Oscar.

But this year is different.

Six black actors have been nominated.

A majority of the best supporting actress nominees are black women.

If Ruth Negga wins best actress for "Loving" she will be the first black woman to win best

actress since Halle Berry in 2001.

Octavia Spencer is nominated for playing a black woman fighting racial oppression in

the Nasa Space Missions.

Denzel Washington has previously won 2 Oscars, the last in 2002.

He and Viola Davis are nominated for Oscars in the work in "Fences."

What do you think of this years representation of diverse actors at the 2017 Academy Awards?

Let me know in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe!

THIS is the Jason Crittenden Team - Duration: 0:40.

Today is closing day and is one of my most favorite days for my clients.

It's the day after a long buying process that I get to hand over the keys to their new home.

And this one in particular was pretty awesome, I got to help an entire family out because

the kids were buying a home for the parents that way they could come and visit for the

winter months.

And that's extremely important to me because it helps with not only one family but multiple

families, and generations of families.

And that's what I love most about this business.

Flowers ideas diy for Valentine, Making Paper flowers craft Tutorial - Duration: 5:30.

I made them to brighten the Sunny House. Aren't they wonderful?!Here's how

You need Materials…

floral wire (from a craft shop)

red wool felt (from Felt On The Fly)

brown felt ball (from The Magic Onions Shop)

scissors

brown wool felt (from Felt On The Fly)

Step 1 Cut a heart out of paper, about two inches big. Pin it to the felt to use as a stencil.

Use sharp scissors to cut a perfect heart from the felt. Repeat until you have FOUR identical felt hearts.

Step 2 Arrange the hearts in a circle, overlapping slightly, so that they look like petals of a flower.

Use hot glue to stick them together where they overlap. Be careful with the glue… we don't want it to show.

Step 3 Cut a long strip of brown wool felt, about 3 inches long and half an inch wide.

Use sharp scissors to cut small incisions in the brown felt. Incisions should stop about half the width of the felt so that it has a fringed look.

Step 4 Measure the fringed brown strip of felt so that it can fit around the felt ball. Trim it so that it does not overlap.

Put hot glue along the bottom (uncut) side of the fringed brown felt strip and stick it around the circumference of the felt ball.

Step 5 With hot glue, stick the felt ball/fringe to the center of the petals.

Step 6 Turn the flower over and use one point of a pair of sharp scissors to make a hole in the back of the flower.

. Be firm in making this hole, but please be careful as if your hand slips you'll can hurt yourself badly.

Step 7 Put a little hot glue onto one end of the floral wire and insert it into the hole in the back the flower.
