The Real Reason 'In God We Trust' Is On The U.S. Dollar - Duration: 2:44.

There are a lot of controversies surrounding American currency.

Like, whose image should appear on it, are there hidden messages embedded within them

and of course, the inclusion of these four words.

IN GOD WE TRUST

"In God We Trust" has been on some form of American currency since 1864.

U.S. coins started featuring the phrase in response to increased religious sentiment

during the horrors of the Civil War.

During that time, letters poured into the Treasury Secretary's office, trying to draw

attention to the importance of recognizing God on the currency.

War was also responsible for the phrase appearing on paper money nearly a century later.

But this time,it wasn't meant to help calm a panicked nation, instead it was used as

a symbolic weapon against the threat of communism.

The Cold War was a time of tense rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union where

many in the U.S. felt that democracy was under threat by communism, leading to The Red Scare.

It was a time where communism and communists were enemy number one, and everything they

believed in was inherently un-American.

And one big thing the communists didn't believe in?

Religion.

So in retaliation "Soviet godlessness", Washington D.C. became a new beacon of religiousness.

A prayer room was installed in the Capitol building.

Newly baptised President Eisenhower began attending the prayer breakfast.

The words "under God" were added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954 after a Joint

Resolution was passed by Congress.

And then in 1956 the official motto of the United States was changed from E pluribus

unum, meaning "out of many, one" to In God We Trust.

And that motto was legally obliged to be on all money, both coin and paper.

Each of these changes were heavily influenced by religious groups and equally religious

politicians, but many people point to the sweeping changes as a fight against the atheist

beliefs http://www.politico.com/story/2011/07/this-day-in-politics-july-11-058650of communism.

They were grand gestures to separate the United States from the Soviet Union.

In fact, Florida Representative Charles Bennett, who introduced the legislation that put In

God We Trust on all American currency, gave a speech on the house floor saying:

"In these days when imperialistic and materialistic communism seeks to attack and destroy freedom,

we should continually look for ways to strengthen the foundation of our freedom."

So, when you reach in your pocket and pull out that U.S. bill, remember that In God We

Trust is on there as a constant reminder that America is not the Cold War era, atheist,

communist Soviet Union.

Why Marvel Won't Give Namor His Own Movie - Duration: 7:31.

Namor the Sub-Mariner is a pretty cool comic book character.

The first real anti-hero in comics, he's punched Nazis alongside Captain America, has a wealth

of exotic powers, and rocks a form-fitting speedo.

Diehard fans have clamored for a Namor movie for years.

And with complex rights issues surrounding the character reportedly resolved, it would

seem like the time is finally right.

But so far there's been no sign of Marvel's oldest superhero.

Here's a look at why Marvel won't give Namor a movie.

Too many worlds

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has explored other dimensions, distant worlds, and even

the realms of the gods.

Yet in all of those travels, and through all the world-threatening catastrophes we've seen

on screen, the only sign of Namor's underwater kingdom of Atlantis was a brief Easter egg

on a map.

And that might be for good reason.

Once Marvel introduces a race of superhuman merfolk led by a benevolent monarch, fans

are going to start wondering just why they aren't, you know... doing anything.

Think about your buddy who always asks "why don't the Avengers just show up" every time

you see a solo Marvel movie.

With Namor in the picture, everyone's going to ask why his army of fish people don't swim

in and save the day.

And seriously: it'll stop being funny after the second time.

Impossible backstory

Namor has a really cool origin — and it pretty much doesn't make any sense in the

Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Prince of Atlantis has supposedly been around since World War II, fighting alongside

Cap and the Invaders.

But we know from Captain America: The First Avenger that no fish folk were anywhere to

be seen.

And explaining why Namor hasn't even shown up at any point in the last 75 years of MCU

continuity would be even trickier than Marvel's efforts to thread the Winter Soldier into

historical events.

With SHIELD and Hydra both aggressively tracking superhuman threats, you'd think someone would

have noticed Namor and Atlantis at some point.

Explaining why they haven't appeared on anyone's radar to this point makes Namor's story that

much more difficult to tell.

Worst Kryptonite ever

In many ways, our superheroes are measured by their weaknesses, like the all-powerful

Superman being taken out by Kryptonite.

Or imps from the fifth-dimension!

But while Kryptonite and wacky imps are in relatively short supply, Namor has a much

more common weakness: air.

Yes, that's right.

You see, Namor gets his powers from water, so the longer he's out of water, the weaker

and weaker he gets.

"The sea!

I must reach the sea!"

If that's not enough, he's also weakened when he comes in contact with polluted water, which

means he's pretty much doomed in today's world.

When your hero needs to wear a Camelbak in order to keep from dying, chances are he's

going to have a really short career.

Similarity to Aquaman

Speaking of aquatic superheroes who gain their powers from water, one of the primary reasons

we'll never see a Namor movie is that DC is beating Marvel to the punch by releasing a

movie about Aquaman first.

"Arthur Curry.

I hear you can talk to fish?"

They're essentially the same character — superstrong kings of Atlantis who can communicate with

marine life — the only differences being that Aquaman is a nerd and Namor is a stud.

It's ironic that, even though Aquaman is much better known, he's actually a total ripoff

of Namor, who first appeared in comics pages two years earlier.

Still, that's not going to matter much to film audiences.

To them, Namor's going to seem like the copycatfish, and that's a big blow to his film future.

The mutant problem

While Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada stated in the summer of 2016 that Marvel has

regained the film rights to Namor, it's still complicated by other rights issues.

You might have heard that stories set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe can't mention mutants

— because the rights to mutants live at 20th Century Fox with the X-Men.

That's why the Avengers version of Quicksilver was a "miracle" created by HYDRA.

And this is a problem for Namor, because Marvel Comics has long marketed him as "the world's

first mutant," explaining his super-strength and flight as genetic mutations.

Combined with the other issues surrounding his backstory, it seems like any version of

Namor we might see on screen would essentially have to be an entirely different character.

The terrorism thing

Remember when we called Namor an anti-hero?

Well, he also sometimes just veers straight into the realm of flat-out villainy.

In many of his earliest stories, he vented his rage on arrogant surface dwellers by randomly

trashing their cities.

Later, when he thought Atlantis had been destroyed by nuclear testing, he vowed to destroy all

of humanity, attempting to level New York using a giant walking whale monster even after

he learned his people were actually totally fine.

One time he even destroyed Black Panther's home country of Wakanda, just for funsies.

Namor's moral ambiguity is hardwired into the character's appeal, but superhero cinema

and Marvel movies in particular don't leave much room for this kind of nuance.

Without it, though, Namor is just another guy, albeit a guy in a scaly thong.

Which is fine for Magic Mike 3, but maybe not so great for Avengers 3.

He makes for a better foil

Historically, Namor has been a great character for others to play off of, but not all that

interesting on his own.

He's a cool rival for the affections of the Invisible Woman, an intriguing ally for the

X-Men, a complex villain for the Avengers, and a great foil for the original Human Torch.

But his solo adventures have been kind of lackluster, with his last comic book series

running just 11 issues before it was cancelled.

It's possible Marvel could find a way to use Namor as a member of a team like the Avengers,

or as a villain for one of their TV shows or something.

But as the lead in a solo feature film?

If history is our guide, that seems unlikely.

The MCU that could have been

Regardless of the impossibility of his own movie, it's fun to imagine what Namor might

have brought to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It would be cool to see Namor shouting "Imperius Rex!" while repelling the next round of alien

invaders, or punching Thanos in his stupid purple face.

Alas, the Namor movie is less likely to happen than a gritty cinematic reboot of Howard the

Duck.

In the finest Marvel Comics tradition, his fans are simply left to imagine "what if?"

What You Don't Know About Amal Clooney - Duration: 5:18.

She's a big-league lawyer, with a flawless sense of style.

From heart-stopping designer gowns, to awe-inspiring speeches, she has an effortless grace and

a closet-full of jaw-dropping couture.

With Hollywood's most eligible bachelor-turned-husband on her arm, Amal Clooney shines brighter with

every move she makes.

Having practiced law for years, and with an unrelenting taste for perfectly appointed

style, Amal proves she's got the guts — and the mind — to change the world.

And look good doing it.

Not just arm candy

A restaurant owner from Amal's ancestral hometown in Lebanon, told NBC:

"George Clooney is lucky to have a girl like Amal.

She's very well-educated, and a very well-esteemed person around here."

Amal was just two years old in 1980, when her family fled civil war in Beirut, opting

for a stable life in Buckinghamshire, London.

But her personal achievements are still very much treasured by the community she left behind.

The mayor of her hometown told NBC, "Amal is an outstanding person and we are very proud

of her.

Quite aside from her marriage to George, she has made a name for herself as a talented

lawyer."

Charming Hollywood's career bachelor

In a dashing romance ripped from the pages of the greatest love story of all time, Amal

and Clooney met in Italy when she was 36, he was 53, and he was the one falling head-over-heels.

He explained to Ellen:

"It was one of those funny things.

From the minute we met we just hit it off, and from the minute we met we felt like we

were going to be together."

Going public with their romance in late 2013, the glamorous couple was first spotted together

in London, then vacationing in Mexico, and soon after at a White House screening of Clooney's

film The Monuments Men.

So why did Clooney fall in love with Amal in the first place?

He revealed what hooked him in an interview with Entertainment Tonight:

"She's an amazing human being.

And she's caring, and she also happens to be one of the smartest people I've ever met,

and she's got a great sense of humor, there are a number of reasons why."

But their dreamy courtship soon developed the tiny flaws of any coupling.

He told Extra:

"I watch sports and it kills her because I got her into March Madness a little.

She got into that and the next week is the Masters, and I'm watching that and she goes,

'So every weekend we're watching a sporting event?'

I'm like, 'Actually, that's kind of how it works.'"

Fairytale wedding

Amal and Clooney said "I do" in a romantic ceremony in Venice, Italy in September 2014.

The couple were married in Venice, in front of 100 close friends and family, including

Bill Murray, Matt Damon, Bono, Cindy Crawford, Anna Wintour, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski,

and Ellen Barkin.

Clooney told PEOPLE Magazine,

"We met in Italy.

We have a home there.

We knew that was where we wanted to get married."

Amal's mother dished to the magazine, saying,

"George and Amal radiated love all night.

The wedding was so unbelievably special.

These three days — the friends, the families, the atmosphere, everything — will stay with

me all the rest of my life."

Clooney described finally tying the knot, saying it "feels pretty damn great."

Fighting for women's rights

In a speech at the Texas Conference for Women in 2016, Amal urged world to take action when

it came to women who were victims of ISIS throughout the Middle East:

"I wish I could say that I was proud to be here.

I'm ashamed as a human being that we ignore their cries for help"

Later in the speech, she went on to quote Hillary Clinton, saying, "Women's rights are

human rights.

Holding back women is holding back half of every country in the world."

In September 2016, Amal officially stepped things up internationally, planning to take

ISIS to court for genocide, on behalf of human trafficking survivor Nadia Murad.

"I don't think anyone can feel that they're being courageous compared to what Nadia is

doing, you know.

It's no joke.

It's ISIS."

After meeting 21-year-old Yazidi activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Murad, who escaped

ISIS imprisonment in 2014, Amal just couldn't say no to advocating for her.

"She made me make the decision because I met her and I just thought, I can't walk away

from this."

New York Magazine's Heather Havrilesky described Amal, saying, "If you drew a Venn diagram

of what the world wants from a feminist superhero — the middle circle would include Amal and

Amal only.

This is a circle that, for decades, we've been told, or told ourselves, was a null set

— impossible to enter."

Red carpet stunner

She may not have been gunning for the limelight, but make no mistake: Amal stands out from

the crowd whenever she walks the red carpet.

Reportedly coached by none other than Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Amal's got a

style her husband describes as, "Amazing — it's eccentric but it's a fun sense of fashion."

Amal made her Cannes Film Festival debut in 2016, in a jaw-dropping yellow silk Atelier

Versace gown, and red lip that was so radiant, we almost forgot about lil' old George!

Slay all day

Whether she's killing it on the red carpet or laying down the law, Amal Clooney achieves

her enviable success by truly being herself.

We dig her genuine spirit just as much we love swooning over her luxury lifestyle.

With the brains to boot, she's a brilliant woman who has it all, and wants women around

the world to "own it" too.

"Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an advisor to Kofi

Annan regarding Syria, and was selected for a three-person UN commission investigating

rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip.

So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award."

Celebs You Didn't Realize Have Extremely Troubled Siblings - Duration: 4:38.

Like the rest of us, celebrity families often produce successful, well-adjusted broods,

but many famous families are pretty badly broken.

Sharing a parent doesn't mean that celeb siblings share success or even sanity.

Here are some celebs you didn't realize have extremely troubled siblings.

Madonna

The Queen of Pop's troubled older brother, Anthony Ciccone, has been homeless and struggling

with substance abuse and legal troubles for years.

In April 2013, Anthony was arrested for trespassing in a Michigan bookstore while severely drunk.

He was previously arrested for being drunk in a church and had spent a month in jail.

In a 2014 interview with Anthony for Tablet, he claimed that he worked at his father's

vineyard until they fired him for drinking straight from the vats while on the clock.

As of that interview, Anthony was still homeless and had given up hope, and we haven't really

heard from him since.

Madonna has refused to comment.

Leonardo DiCaprio

The Sun reports that Adam Farrar, Leonardo DiCaprio's stepbrother, was on the run from

police in March 2016 after skipping a court date for petty theft.

Farrar, who reportedly piqued DiCaprio's interest in acting through his own roles, allegedly

stole around $990 worth of merchandise from a store the previous January and skipped his

court date for the offense.

It wasn't his first run-in with the law, either; Farrar was reportedly arrested in 2013 on

a litany of charges when he went to visit his girlfriend, who was being held at a local

sheriff's office.

In November 2016, Farrar told the Daily Mail that he was once close to Leo, saying,

"Leo and I never had an argument.

But he started surrounding himself with people that didn't want me around.

He's the biggest star in the world and there's me, messed up on drugs.

I was slowly shut out of his world."

Hayden Christensen

Tove Christensen, brother to Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen, was arrested for assault

with a deadly weapon after he allegedly fought with his girlfriend and dragged her down the

street for 30 feet when she attempted to get into his car.

When police arrived on the scene, Tove's girlfriend was visibly injured, and Christensen was sentenced

to community service, one year of domestic violence counseling, and three years of probation

after pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery.

Prince

Tyka Nelson, sister to Purple Rain musician Prince, led a troubled life until her legendary

brother helped her out.

Nelson reportedly prostituted herself to support both her children and her own crack cocaine

addiction.

She told the National Enquirer in 2003,

"I was a single mother and my boys were babies.

I sold my body for food, money and Pampers.

I pawned the car Prince had given me and sold the kids' TV for drugs."

Thankfully, Prince sent Nelson to rehab, and she's been clean, sober, and healthy ever

since, and now managing Prince's estate.

Nicki Minaj

Jelani Maraj, older brother to Nicki Minaj, was charged with first-degree rape against

a 12-year-old girl in December 2015.

Page Six reports that Minaj bailed her brother out of jail for $100,000, but the rapper was

ready to pay more than $2 million to free him.

The New York Daily News reports that Maraj faces life in prison if convicted.

Maraj's wife filed for divorce in August 2016.

Gordon Ramsay

Ronnie Ramsay is the brother of irate celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, and much like Gordon's

sous-vide porcini-crusted tenderloin, is often in hot water.

"Um, 20 years ago I got dealt a dysfunctional card.

My little brother became a heroin addict, and my father became an alcoholic."

Ronnie has not only struggled with heroin addiction, but also homelessness.

Gordon once admitted to buying Ronnie heroin in 1997 to get him through their father's

funeral, but after Ronnie was jailed in Indonesia on drug offenses in 2007, Ramsay refused to

enable him anymore.

No amount of Ramsay's signature tough talk could straighten out his brother.

"Come here, come here you!

If I tell you to get out there, I don't give a f--- if you've got a thumb up your fat crack,

GET OUT THERE!"

Gordon told the Mirror in November 2014,

"I have tried to help many times.

It's hard.

Every time you see him, God bless him, it reopens a wound for everybody.

[...] We always clash and it is hard to get back to that ground zero.

We had bunk beds and we grew up together, so to see him now is tougher.

[...] I get upset that I am running away from it."

But really, Ramsay could probably take another shot at shouting him into shape.

"Where's your fight, man?"

"It's here sir!"

"Where is it?"

"I've got it, chef!"

"Then wake up, you donut!"

"Yes sir!"

Guide Dogs in Korea: Public perception improves but challenges remain - Duration: 4:15.

A visually-impaired man in London made headline news recently for putting up a youtube video

of the daily struggles his guide dog, Kika, goes through as revealed on the GoPro that

the man and his wife glued on Kika's harness...

It shows many obstacles that guide dogs face everyday.

Guide dogs for the blind have been around for more than a century --- since the very

first animal training school was established in Germany during World War I for blinded

veterans returning from combat.

Korea has also been raising guide dogs for almost a quarter of a century, and although

public perception has improved there's still more that could be done.

Assistance dogs for the visually impaired: our News Feature tonight with Kwon Jang-ho.

It's a regular weekday morning, and Lee Yoon-hee is off to work.

She's not alone though -- she has her guide dog Hoon-min to help her along the way.

Together they make the hour-and-a-half commute, traveling the 20 kilometers on two buses and

two subway trains, as well as an initial 10-minute walk.

But Yoon-hee and Hoon-min take it all in their stride.

The only thing they worry about is the weather.

0:22 "When it rains, Hoon-min gets wet, even if

I put up an umbrella.

And when people are walking with their umbrellas up, it becomes that much more difficult to

avoid.

So when I hear that it's going to rain, I lose a bit of sleep over it."

Yoon-hee is one of about 60 people in Korea who use guide dogs.

Compared to other countries, that number is relatively small.

Part of the reason is that although there are some 250-thousand people who are blind

in Korea, only those with specific disabilities and lifestyles are suited for guide dog use.

And, as with other places, there is no financial support from the government, and guide dog

associations rely solely on donations.

Yoon-hee is one of the lucky few to have benefited.

She was first given a guide dog 19 years ago, and since then she has seen public awareness

and acceptance grow.

"At first the bus drivers on this route refused to let me on the bus.

But after taking this bus every day, they got to know us.

And now when a new driver comes along, they inform him that there is a person with a guide

dog on the route, and they tell him to look after us."

But other challenges remain.

This is one of the few restaurants that Yoon-hee says is welcoming to Hoon-min, and that many

others still refuse him entry.

18:30 "They say dogs aren't allowed or they suggest

tying him up outside before I go in.

There are even places that suggest putting a table outside for us.

It's a challenge that guide dog owners around the world face.

A recent survey in the UK found that more than a third of owners experience refusals

from restaurants, and 44-percent from taxis, which is another problem for Yoon-hee, too.

In Korea, refusal of access carries a 25-hundred dollar fine.

But incidents are rarely reported and even then it can be difficult to get a conviction.

"An investigation has to take place, but the process isn't simple and can take a long time.

There are many cases where, if the person promises to not let it happen again, the case

is simply dropped."

Guide dog associations do acknowledge that the environment for guide dogs in Korea has

improved greatly in recent years, but even that they say has brought it's own challenges,

as more passersby take an interest.

"There are four things that you should not do if you see a guide dog.

You shouldn't call them, touch them, feed them or take pictures of them.

... If you do any of that while they're assisting their owners, they could become distracted

and put the owners in a dangerous situation."

Despite the challenges, there's no question that the dogs provide their owners with a

quality of life they couldn't experience in any other way.

"The fact that I can go anywhere by myself with the guide dog gives me a lot of strength

and freedom.

I've been able to make friends and go to work, even from far away.

So if I didn't have this dog, my life would've been more lonely and a lot less fun."

Kwon Jang-ho, Arirang News.

How To Stop Beans Causing Gas- Dr Joel Fuhrman - Duration: 2:53.

When you eat beans regularly you build up the bacteria that stay in you all the time that make it easier for you to digest beans

The reason beans cause flatulence is because people don't eat them regularly and haven't built up enough bacteria to break down the resistant starches in beans.

Even if you soak them, you wouldn't want to remove the resistant starch anyway coz butyrate is an important fatty acid, has anti inflammatory and anti cancer effects and reduces the risk of colon cancer.

You wouldn't even want to take beano with the beans because you don't want to break down the resistant starch before you eat it you want your own body to have to deal with it.

It's better for you to learn how to digest beans after a while of eating them everyday you may not have the fun of having so much gas.

For the person who doesn't handle it well, you give them a smaller and smaller amount of beans, you still have to eat them very frequently.

You titrate down to that level of bean intake which they can deal with comfortably. You don't take beans out of their diet, you give them a tablespoon or a teaspoon, twice a day and then you can start increasing it over time.

We want people to be able to tolerate beans.

Indian Street Party in Madurai - India - Duration: 2:26.

So we kind of found this ...

Ritual (?)

And they let us in, I don't know...

We don't really know very well what's happening

But there is music

and it looks like they are doing some sort of ''Ritual'' over there

it's very colourful

I think we are more of an attraction than...

whatever they are doing there

that was cool!

Look at that!

Beautiful!
