Fine Art Tips with Jane Toy on Colour In Your Life - Duration: 24:01.

G'day viewers, my name's Graeme Stevenson, and I'd like to invite you to come on a

journey of creativity and learning and adventure through the series Colour In Your Life.

There's an Artist in every family throughout the world.

Lots of times there's an Artist deep down inside all of us as well.

So grab your kids, your brothers, your sisters, your aunties, uncles

and mums and dads and come and see how some of the best Artists do what they do.

(Music Plays)

Well hi folks, and welcome back to Colour In Your Life. Well we are in the North

Island of New Zealand on this trip, in the south end of the North Island,

in a beautiful town called Wanganui. A really great Arts community down here.

And I'm with a very talented lady, and she is an abstract,

geometric, expressionist Artist, which is a mouthful

on its own. But some fascinating work, I mean really when I first saw Jane's work

I though this is just quiet amazing, but I'd like to introduce you to Jane

Toy. Jane, (Jane) Hello. (Graeme) thanks for being on the show. (Jane) That's fine. (Graeme) A real pleasure to be here.

Now as I said you look at Jane's work and it's really different. I mean the

the patterns that she comes up with are quite amazing, and

your history as a person has been more academia.

(Jane) Very much so. (Graeme) Tell me how it sort of went from being an academic to

somebody's that's created these masterpieces. (Jane) Well, Graeme, I love

maths, and maths was always a big part of my schooling career.

I was always very good at maths, just really loved

numbers. Loved pattern over a series of you know,

life events. I ended up in England working new accounts. Really like

the maths side of it and the precision, but the actual working in accounts

was so depressing. And then

move on, some more life changes and here I am

working with numbers again. But on the creative

wonderful patten side of numbers. (Graeme) There's a real juxtapose

because you've got this real looseness in the way that you approach the initial

part of your work, and then you come into the geometry side. So

there's a real juxtapose on top of each other. Where did you come up with that idea?

(Jane) Essentially, it's all about color and its all about materials. My process is

very important and experimenting is really important. So one of the things

that I want to do is get the paper to really talk, but

also to get every single material and process to really sing

through my art work. (Graeme) Yeah, and there is fantastic stories behind

what Jane does. But I'm gonna step out of shot like I normally do and I'll let

Jane start the process of putting this together. I mean she's gonna go through the materials

and how she dose it. But there's a lot of intricacy involved in the way

Jane puts these together. They are really detailed and then complex

but at the same time they're so pleasurable to look at and simple in their terms, but

let me get out of the picture and we'll let you take over. (Jane) Thanks, Graeme. (Graeme) Fantastic.

(Graeme) Okay, Jane, well how do we start an abstract, geometric, expressionistic

piece? (Jane) Well we start it Graeme, by actually not doing

any geometric work at all. This series of work

which I've called mapping, starts with a really loose

background, so I'm really wanting to expose the paper. This

particular paper I'm working on at the moment is six hundred

weight, hot pressed paper. The hot pressed part is really

important because it gives me a real real smooth finish, which with the way

I'm working at the moment is really, really important. My materials,

at the moment I'm working with acrylics. The way I work is usually

work out which sort of palette I want the whole piece to have, and what the finished sort of overall whole colors

are going to be. So I just do finger work

on a rough piece of paper, just to see if those colors are all gonna bounce

together. I don't often

work with what you'd call a harmonious color scheme.

Parts of it will be harmonious, but then I like to bring in one complimentary

color. So probably what I'm gonna do this time is

stick with this color scheme here, and add a little bit of the turquoise

in, and that'll just keep the harmony.

But then you've got an area thats gonna pop right out, and that helps me really play with my

colors. So for my colors I'll chose Cadmium Orange,

Phthalo Turquoise, so

I wanted this specific blue, which is an unusual,

it's a little bit more opaque than what I would usually use for my wash backgrounds, but

that'll do. And then I haven't yet decided which

magenta color I'll bring in. I'll just a look while they're really, really wet down, just

see what happens. So the first thing I do is make my

really watered down acrylics; I kinda use them like watercolor.

What I'm gonna use as well are these Lumiere,

they're a metallic acrylic. Really,

really quiet special paints. You've got to give them a really good shake

because they've got quiet a lot of heavy metallic

stuff in there; that's the technical term.

So I'll just put a bit of that in there,

really reflective and really lovely.

And what happens with that is when I mix it with other paints

the metallic part of it

actually kind of spits out, and that creates a really interesting

finish on the dried paper. So I'm just pouring water

in - quite a bit, because we really want it to be

really, really able to move around on the paper.

So just have to stir that in really, really well.

So that is really, really watery in there, like

really watery - you can see it dripping off the brush. And like, I just

drop some on the paper it doesn't matter because it's all

part of this process is being really, really loose

and what happens, happens. I'm letting the materials really do their job.

(Graeme) Since you've starting your Art career is really experimenting with a number of different

materials to get what you want. (Jane) Yeah, I think my honest belief

about Art, is that that's only way you can come up with something authentic is by

experimenting with your materials, and I think all Artists should

do that. It's just like play, you know I think a lot of

creativity should be just like play. If it's not like play, I think your doing something wrong.

(Graeme) And in saying, in saying the word 'play', this has really

over the years helped you get over a

position were you were suffering from some quite bad depression

and anxiety some time back, (Jane) Yes. (Graeme) and it's really helped to change

your whole focus in life. I mean I love the fact that Art can do that,

but how did this come about? (Jane) I know it sounds like a clique, but

it's not wrong to say that it has saved me. That the Art

has changed my life; it saved my life. It's taken me in a direction that

I never would have gosh, even anticipated, I would have gone and

yeah, it's just become a really important healing

tool. Allowing myself to find you know, a really authentic voice through what I do

has just changed everything. And working with these beautiful colors all day

every day, you know, there's no room to be (Graeme) Yeah.

so depressed. And I think you know, bringing a lot of color

and I know the program's called Colour In Your Life, but you know, it is

the color in my life has changed everything. So first thing I'm gonna

do is use these big brushes,

and just get it really, really

wet, really, really drippy, and then just lay it on.

And I'm gonna put a few sort of what you would think of as brush strokes,

but I'm not really gonna worried about that too much. And see the way the water's just,

the paint is just sitting on there, it's very, very wet. So

I'm just putting on bits of paint randomly where I kinda feel like they want

to go. (Graeme) Let the picture talk to you. (Jane) Yeah, yeah, I just

let the colors do what they want to do, and that's why you know, interesting things happen.

You can't direct what's gonna happen when these two colors touch each other.

And the beautiful contrast, look at these beautiful contrast between these lovely

purples and the turquoise - it's just so rich. Just let a few

drips go around there. (Graeme) And as you where saying before, you're not overworking it, you're just putting

on little bits of color. (Jane) That's right, I'm not overworking it. So what I think

I'll do now is bring in some of this metallic.

(Graeme) Yeah. (Jane) Anything with metallic operates completely differently and it

gives some really, really cool effects, it's gonna bleeds into the

other stuff. And now I'm gonna put on some

orange, just to be completely interfering with that lovely

harmonious color scheme there. And so you can see, you know by bringing on

a complementary color, pow - it just makes a huge difference.

Now what I'm gonna do is that, and just

let the paint drip down.

That's that background pretty much finished. (Graeme) But what you've done for us today is you've

actually prepared a number of different pieces that we can follow through with you.

And the next one we have coming up is one where you're gonna

start to put the lines and the geometry on the piece as well. (Jane) Yep. (Graeme) So lets

move to that one then. (Jane) Okay.

(Jane) The first thing that I like to do is just have a good

look at the artwork and think what shape

you know, am I gonna try and bring out of this. What are the interesting parts of the artwork?

So with this one, there's some really interesting shapes

around here, and around here, so I really want to bring

those out. So that's where I might start to put my first line down, and then

be my guiding line for the rest of the artwork.

So I measure from the top of the paper and just measure down

about twelve centimetres, put a mark there.

On the other side - same thing, measure down twelve centimetres

and put a mark there, and get

a big long ruler (Graeme) Yep. (Jane) and then I'll draw that line in.

Now I'm only drawing on top of the acrylic base.

(Graeme) Oh, so you're not - are the white areas

there, there's no line in them what so ever? (Jane) Not at this stage. No.

(Graeme) Okay. (Jane) Some of the artworks I do, I like to take outside

of the paint that's already on the paper.

This one I'm not gonna do that, I want it just completely contained

within the area that's already laid down. (Graeme) Okay. (Jane) There's my first line and it's

my guiding line for everything else that I do. It's really important

in these pieces just to keep everything parallel.

If it's nor parallel, if you get even the tiniest little bit out,

it throws the whole artwork out. And even, even a millimetre,

if you have a millimetre out and then the next lines a millimetre out,

very soon you've got the whole thing looking a real mess.

So today I'm going to use this tool which is really

handy, its a equilateral triangle so I use, I use this a lot for lots of different shapes.

It's also got lots of marks down it which is really handy for keeping

things lined up, so basically I'm just putting on lines. (Graeme) You've done

four differing styles from I can see through your CV and your portfolio.

One of them, its - you call it Circle Studies.

And you've got one, you can see the intricacy involved, I mean this is one called the Big Bang,

and I suppose that's sort of fairly obviously when you look at the piece. (Jane) Yeah, it's really coming

out. (Graeme) And the black hole singularity, and then it's exploding out across the

universe. But (Jane) Yeah. (Graeme) just dynamic pieces but the amount of time

that you put into these is quite mind boggling. (Jane) Yeah, putting the initial work

in is so important. I can't emphasise that enough. If you

don't get that right, your piece is not gonna hang together properly.

(Graeme) There's another one that you've got called Mirror Me, Mini Me.

(Jane) I was going through a phase were I was really enjoying having those larger

circles at the top, very symmetrical form, and then dropping it down

and just mirroring those shapes. So now I've

got some minor shell horizontal lines going across the work,

and then I'm going to draw this line down here.

And when I'm drawing the lines it's important I use a HB pencil,

and I don't use it too hard because although I'm using

the lines to mark on where my geometric's gonna

sit, there will be a far amount of rubbing out that happens in order to

completely finish the whole piece, and we'll have a look at that a little bit later.

So I turn it around at this stage

and then I'm just lining up again and I start working

bringing those lines across. We do a couple

that way just to show, and then if I want to

have a line coming across this way, which will form

the equilateral triangles, then I can

place my ruler along here, and now I'm starting to inform my triangles.

(Graeme) There's another piece here we've got here called Beeline, which is part of your

mapping series, but it must be really meditative.

(Jane) Oh, it is. (Graeme) You know, to just - cause you must just sit down and then zone out

when you're doing this. (Jane) I do. The drawing out can be quite

not stressful, but you have to really focus hard. It's a lot of

concentration but the painting of it, it's kind like you take a breath and oh,

You know, you can sort of relax into the piece. You've got all the

background work done, and then just let the colors talk to you and guide you

through. So as you can see I've got quite

a lot of lines down on this piece. Eventually the whole thing will be

covered in various geometric shapes. I've got equilateral triangles

going on in here, but I might take it somewhere else as well.

But in the mean time, I've got a piece I've already started which is going to be more 3D and

I'll take it from there.

(Graeme) Okay, now we've got the new piece down and you've made a fairly solid start

with the geometry and started to paint. Is there any particular

way that you go about putting the colors down, or is that random or?

(Jane) No. (Graeme) It's not? (Jane) Now, once, once the looseness is finished,

that's it. There is no more random, other than letting it sort of speak

as I'm putting the geometrics down. (Graeme) Aha. (Jane) So this piece I've got

all the geometric work drawn up, and now I'm starting to paint. So

what I like to do is choose a really strong

color, and use kinda a complimentary color

to go over the top of it, so it really pops out. I use gouache

because it is really opaque. It's a fantastic

paint to use over the top of a work on paper.

It completely covers what's underneath it with only one

layer of paint which is really, really handy when you've got you know, a million

tiny squares to paint. So when I'm

about to start painting, I can actually load that little brush with

pretty much, as much as it will hold. Now I'll show you what

happens when I start to introduce a much lighter tint of

that color. Now I've got this wet piece over here

so I'm just gonna turn my artwork around, and I always make sure I'm not working

over wet work, and I'll start

laying, laying that on. And as you can see

one layer of this opacity, and it's a good coverage.

(Graeme) I think part of the inspiration of the style that you've come up with here is

the time that you spent in Wellington, at the Learning Connection, as well.

It's an Art Collage they've got down in Wellington, that really

allows people to have great freedom of expression. (Jane) The Learning

Connection does a fantastic job of bringing in so many different people

in the community. It allows Artists to really find their own voice

rather than being taught well, this is what you do with say

acrylic, and this is how you are suppose to use it. It

encourages people to experiment and really experience

what the materials are capable of. So when I'm

going up against these paints that are already on there and dry,

I'm just really careful not to go over that line, otherwise it's gonna look

really messy. (Graeme) And some of the people that have influenced you over the years as well,

people like Paul Klee. One of my favourite Artists

that's influenced me at the same time is Gustav Klimt.

Wassily Kandinsky, Charles Rennie, I mean

there's a lot of them, particularly in that modern contemporary

abstract style that has influenced you as well. (Jane) Yeah, and I love

Artists who work with pattern, who aren't afraid of color,

and find yeah, unique ways of using the materials.

Goodness, I mean Gustav Klimt, his use of

gold leaf - wow, you know. (Graeme) Yeah.

(Jane) Some of his artwork was primarily gold leaf, and just not being scared

to find something you really love and use it. So as you can see there,

as I'm starting to work on with the lighter color,

starting to see that there will be a direction of light into this artwork.

By keeping all of the light colors coming from this direction, and

all the dark works, paints coming from this direction, it's really

gonna create that 3D feeling which will, the the Artwork will start to move

out towards the viewer. (Graeme) Now I've noticed in a lot of your work

Jane, that you use a lot of black,

I think it might be Indian Ink or Ink, to outline

the particular images that you're doing. And one piece called Paradise Lost,

these particular pieces in this series look like they are stained

glass windows out of Churches. They're really very, very beautiful and

incredibly vibrant. (Jane) The black ink that I use on those particular pieces

is a ink pen. It's a Uni-Ball product with a

beautiful rich black that's just perfect for using with the

gouache. (Graeme) Now you're also a member of the Wanganui

arts community. It's a very, very strong arts community I think from what I

can gather, probably one of the strongest in the county, from what I can see.

(Jane) I think it probably is. We've got four hundred resident

Artists in Wanganui, and more moving into Wanganui every week.

Lots of Artists they own their own galleries, little spaces. We have Open Studios

every year. People from all around the county come over the space of two

weekends, and visit working Artists doing their thing. We're just all really very

supportive of each other. (Graeme) I mean it's a beautiful area. The town itself, Wanganui, is just

it's like, it's like a cut out of one hundred and fifty years ago

with the old building. It's just a beautiful place and obviously they've

refurbished all the building. Alright Jane, well you've really put down some

great work there, but the whole idea of today is to obviously

take people through the process of what you do, and you can actually see

three dimensionality starting to come out in this piece. But because it

does take so long, you've actually got another piece for us, it's a different piece once

again, but it explains to us where we're going and the complexities

of what you do. So lets move to that piece and we'll discuss some things about that as well.

(Jane) Okay, that's good.

(Graeme) Alright, Jane,

we've gone full circle with you today, (Jane) Sure have. (Graeme) and you've got a piece here that

you've almost finished, but there's a last technique and some other things you want to explain to

us as well. (Jane) That's right, Graeme, the acrylics done.

All of the painting of the gouache work is done on the geometric work.

This is obviously about hexagons.

Now what I'm doing now is working with a very, very fine

metallic pen, and the ink comes out really smoothly with

all of my materials, it's really important to have that. So if I just go

down over the line and back, really careful not to go

over the, over the paint work. And every time I've done a line

wipe the edge of the ruler. (Graeme) Where do you feel that your work is

is actually going from here? (Jane) I think, large. Taking these kind of images to a

wall of a building. (Graeme) Yeah, even if you look at this last piece that

we've got called Torn, you can literally see that on the side of a building.

I mean I personally think corporate pieces in the foyers of large

buildings because they're just so spectacular. (Jane) And they're very colorful.

The whole (Graeme) That's an understatement. (Jane) grabbing, getting peoples attention with color is something that

it's really, really fun. (Graeme) And as

you know by experience and where you've come from, to where you are

now, is that color really has helped you to get out of some dark

places. (Jane) Definitely, it definitely has. And the injection of color into city environment

is something that's really, really important. Okay, so this piece

is getting near completion, and part of the process right at the end

that I need to do is actually some rubbing out. Basically, I take a really

nice, soft, good quality rubber, so I'm just rubbing out really carefully. (Graeme) And

as you see, we're just screening up the final piece that Jane has been working on today,

and I think that her style is really quite spectacular. The symmetry

and the geometry are just wonderful and the color itself,

it really is a magnificent style of work.

(Graeme) Okay, well

as far as I'm concerned that was really fascinating.

You know, I rave a little bit sometimes but looking at what Jane

does, and when I spend some time with an Artist whose style I really

admire, it starts to go through your head and you want to sort of say god, can I, can I do that

with some of what I'm doing as well. But really fascinating day, I think you've got a

fantastic approach to your work and it's an amazing style, it really is.

(Jane) Thank you. (Graeme) Thank you so much for being on the show. (Jane) Thank you, Graeme, it's been really, really pretty cool

actually. (Graeme) I'm glad you enjoyed it. And just as I said, there's just some peoples

styles that stand out and this is one of those today. You website is? (Jane) Jane Toy

art dot co dot nz. (Graeme) Excellent, so pop in and say hi.

And we would also like to thank New Zealand Artists Magazine,

Megan and the girls do a fantastic job in representing all of the Artists across

New Zealand; it's a fantastic magazine. Also, come and see us at Colour In Your Life

dot com dot a you, and come and see us in our Facebook page, and

our YouTube page. Our numbers are climbing really, really rapidly these days.

We're gonna move on. Fantastic country - more great Artists to see.

And as we always say - remember: make sure you put some

color in your life, and we'll see you next time, guys. Bye now.

(Jane) Bye. (Graeme) Bye.

SO

WAIT A SECOND

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

WELCOME TO ANOTHER VIDEO, MY NAME IS SPARCKMAN

AND TODAY WE ARE...WHAT ARE WE DOING TODAY?

I GOT AN EMAIL ASKING ME A QUESTION

THEY WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY ADVANTAGES IN PROGRAMMING YOUR OWN GAMES

VERSUS USING DRAG AND DROP SOFTWARE

SO I'M GOING LIST 5 REASONS WHY YOU'D WOULD WANT TO CODE YOUR GAMES

MANUALLY

VERSUS DRAG AND DROP

NUMBER 1

THE FIRST ONE WOULD BE: MEMORY MANAGEMENT

SO YOU ARE NOT USING MEDDLE-WARE AND BLOW UP THE FILE SIZE OR USE MORE MEMORY THAN REQUIRED

NOW, NUMBER 2

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO GET A JOB IN THE GAME INDUSTRY

YOU PROBABLY ARE GOING TO NEED TO LEARN HOW TO CODE

NOT EVERY OFTEN YOU WILL FINE A JOB WHERE YOU HAVE TO USE DRAG AND DROP SOFTWARE

THERE IS ALWAYS: "LEVEL EDITOR"

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

SOUND DESIGNER

VOICE ACTING

CONCEPT ARTIST

THERE ARE LOT OF POSITIONS

BUT MOST OF THE JOBS ARE FOR PROGRAMMING

SO LEARN PROGRAMMING

SO NUMBER 3 WOULD BE BUGS

WHEN YOU ENCOUNTER A BUG IN A GAME ENGINE

YOU USUALLY HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE DEVELOPER TO FIX IT

SOMETIMES UPDATES DON'T HAPPEN RIGHT WAY

YOU CAN SUBMIT A BUG

AND THEY WILL LOOK AT IT

BUT WHEN YOU ARE PROGRAMMING YOUR OWN GAME

IT'S YOUR JOB TO FIX THE BUGS

WHICH IS GOOD BECAUSE YOU CAN FIX THEM RIGHT WAY

Xiao Shu, what's wrong?

What exactly is wrong?

Here, get up first.

What's wrong?

Zhou Zhen broke up with me.

Zhou Zhen doesn't want me anymore!

Hi Father Liang, it's Zhe Xuan.

Xiao Shu's at my house watching DVDs so she'll probably be home later.

Ok, don't come home too late.

I know, relax, Father Liang.

Ok, bye bye.

Ok, bye.

What's the matter? Where are they now?

Xiao Shu's with Zhe Xuan.

They're probably busy with station-related things.

Ok, that's ok. We'll eat first then.

Here, eat.

You said earlier that Zhou Zhen

was acting weird.

Was it because he already decided a long time ago to break up with you?

It's because I neglected him too much.

If I'd found out earlier,

maybe he wouldn't have broken up with me.

Xiao Shu,

don't blame yourself! You didn't do anything wrong.

I still can't believe

we've already broken up.

Do you still remember

when we were confronted with sad situations when we were little,

or

not knowing how to tell a secret,

we would hide it inside these donkey's ears?

Gao Zhe Xuan!

Since the person you like, likes someone else,

then give your happiness to me to deal with!

Wait, hold on, hold on.

Confessing like this...

What if Zhe Xuan rejects me?

That's too embarrassing.

That won't do. I have to first think of a way.

Got it!

Gao Zhe Xuan!

Ying Ying.

Sister-in-law!

Why are you here?

Who is it?

Why did you come here, Zhou Ying Ying?

Did you drink?

No, I just wanted to have a chat with you.

Come in.

That's not possible!

How can my brother get back together with Chen Pin Ying?

This is your brother's own words.

That's still not possible!

Why don't I call him right now and have him explain it to me?

Forwarding to voicemail. Start recording after the beep.

Otherwise, please hang up.

Xiao Shu, you have to trust my brother.

He's not that type of person.

There's probably just a misunderstanding and you just need to explain it clearly.

If there's a misunderstanding, it should be made clear.

At least let Liang Xiao Shu know.

If you really love someone, you won't hurt the other person like this.

Don't think about it anymore.

I'll go buy you dinner. You probably haven't eaten yet.

No, I don't want to eat.

That's not okay.

From since you were little, as long as your stomach was empty,

your head and heart were empty too.

There's no way you can think properly.

No, I'm really not hungry.

I think I should probably go home now. I have a curfew.

Ok, let me take you home.

There's no need. Stay with Ying Ying.

I'm leaving now.

Be careful.

Uh, I'm still not fully recovered from drinking. I'll rest a bit.

Let's go.

Hey, promise me you'll eat when you get back.

And then rest well.

Ok, ok.

If you're like this, I'm going to tell Mother Liang.

Tell her then.

I...

Wait for me.

Are those two really only good friends?

Gao Zhe Xuan's attitude seems weird.

What am I thinking?

Xiao Shu has my brother now.

Zhou Ying Ying, come back, come back!

What is this?

This month's quiz sucked.

I forged Dad's signature.

This is Gao Zhe Xuan's words from when he was little.

When he was little, he already started doing bad things.

I like you.

This...

What are you doing?

Sorry.

What's this metal box for?

I saw that there's blue and red paper in it.

It seems like for a guy and a girl.

It is for a guy and a girl.

This is where Xiao Shu and I

hid secrets in elementary school.

Then did you write this message?

What's written on here

is about the girl you liked for a very long time?

That's right.

I have a girl who I've liked for a very long time.

Then why aren't you guys together?

Because she chose another happiness.

She's with someone else.

Can it be...

Hey, Gao Zhe Xuan,

the girl that you like,

is it Xiao Shu?

Yes, it's Xiao Shu.

How can you?

Xiao Shu is my brother's girlfriend!

I know.

That's why you can't like her or go after her!

I didn't say I'd go after her.

But don't you like Xiao Shu?

Liking her...I'll put that in my heart.

Liking her doesn't mean taking actions.

You like her but you're not going after her?

So you're just seeing her with someone else?

I don't want to make things awkward for her.

Me liking her and her own choice are two different things.

So you chose to silently stay by her side?

If she wishes for it, I will do it.

But don't you feel sad about being like this?

I just want her to be happy.

I don't understand you.

My head hurts. I'm going home.

Dad, I'm home.

I didn't come home to eat. Is Mom's condition okay?

Everything's fine. Your mom ate medicine so she's sleeping.

Ok, then I'm going to my room.

Wait a second.

I'm just thinking that women are really interesting.

Right when they fall in love,

they easily become restless.

Look at our baby daughter who left this morning so happily.

I think

it's probably because Zhou Zhen returned from his trip.

Not only did his girlfriend miss him.

Even his girlfriend's mom missed him.

Zhou Zhen is really good kid.

Caring and sensible.

Did Xiao Shu tell you when Zhou Zhen's coming over?

In order to accept Zhou Zhen, you brought out your sickness.

Why do you keep wanting Zhou Zhen to come to our house?

Ok, ok, don't pinch it like that.

Can't eat it when you've made it into that.

Don't have any prejudices against Zhou Zhen.

He's so good to Xiao Shu.

He used to come over but now he doesn't. He definitely has a reason.

He has pressure.

Hey, why are you so rude?

If we talk about something you don't like, you just leave.

Going over to read the newspaper.

What's so good about the newspaper? It's just those two pages.

I know you're listening.

Let me tell you, children who've grown up can take care of themselves.

Our daughter is dating. It's fine as long as she's happy. We don't need to intervene so much.

Former Police Chief,

my hands are oily. Can you open the door for me?

Hey, Zhe Xuan, you're here.

Father Liang, I brought some buns. This restaurant is really famous.

Gao Xiao Gui.

Mother Liang!

Why are you free again today?

Oh, I just paid a visit to some clients

and I passed by this famous bun shop.

I thought I'd bring some over for Father Liang and Mother Liang to eat.

Thanks.

Ok, come sit here.

Mother Liang, what are you making?

Hey.

Let me help you.

Ok, ok, go wash your hands.

Hello?

Zhou Zhen!

Uncle Liang.

You invited me out to talk about the psychiatrist, right?

Thank you, we don't need it.

My wife's doing very well now.

Uncle Liang,

is it because I was the one who found the doctor?

I'm not trying anything.

I just simply want Xiao Shu to be happy.

Rest assured,

this matter won't affect the fact that we broke up.

I hurt Xiao Shu's heart.

The only thing I can do,

is to find someone way to make her happy.

Dilute the pain I brought to her

and allow Mother Liang to get well.

Xiao Shu will be happy, right?

You

also want to make it up to Mother Liang, right?

What did you say?

I already know everything.

You know?

That issue...

Everyone panicked immediately.

No one did it on purpose.

You...

I'm too selfish.

I've always been afraid to tell the truth.

Xiao Kai...I'm sorry.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

What did you see?

Are you confessing to me right now?

Your answer is...?

Now the situation is very confusing.

The two lovers...I beg you. Don't interfere.

I won't tell Zhou Zhen's difficulties.

I'm just helping Xiao Shu

gently push one thing.

What's wrong with your eyes?

They are blind.

CNN Asked This Russian Official 1 Question, What She Said Back Has Trump GIGGLING!

By Paris Swade.

CNN is fake news.

We all know that.

Now, even the Russians know it.

CNN got BLASTED by Russian official, Maria Zakharova, after being accused of spreading

lies and false news.

That journalist for CNN, Mathew Chance, got a TUNED up by Zakharova.

The video is below.

Matthew Chance: Russian officials are not happy with the way this political situation

is developing in the United States-toxic hysteria is what they are calling it.

The idea that Russia somehow intervened in the U.S. elections, theyre rejecting that

of course.

Specifically the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova pushed back strongly on the

idea that the Russian ambassador to the United States, Kislyak was in any way related to

espionage.

Maria Zakharova: Mr. Kislyak is a well known..uh..I mean world class diplomat who

was a deputy minister of foreign affairs in Russia who was communicating with his Americanfor

decades in different fields and CNN accused him of being Russian spy..recruiting..oh my

God, stopstop spreading lies and false news!

This is good advice for CNN..please stop spreading lies and false news!

And she is right.

We just uncovered how Obamas Whitehouse met with the same Russian ambassador that

they are now accusing met with Jeff Sessions.

You can read more on that here.

CNN doesnt get it.

They are officially the fake news channel.

Lets keep the CNN Blackout going.

Only together will be able to take down this CRAP channel.

We are getting closer.

They just recently fell below Nickelodeon in day time ratings.

Comment TURN OFF CNN! below this post on Facebook, patriots!

Share this post with 3 friends of yours and remind them to keep turning off CNN wherever

they go.

I swear the only place that still has CNN are hospitals and nursing homes.

Tell them to turn it off there and that will be the end of CNN for good!

Quantum Logic Exposes the Illusory "Boundaries" of Reality - Duration: 7:13.

Quantum Logic Exposes the Illusory Boundaries of Reality

By consciousreminder

Within the ever broadening field of quantum mechanics, comes a new revelation: There are

no boundaries!

Enjoying lunch with friends, our conversation turned to the limitations of arbitrary lines

of demarcation. We have boundaries for geography, race, genders, age, politics, and religion

that seem real to us when were closely involvedbut as soon as we get some distance,

its harder to explain why we need all of them.

While these lines may seem benign, they can contribute to serious problems. One of my

friends explained how shed conducted a search for an African American computer engineer

employee a few years ago. Shed thought finding a black programmer would be fairly

straightforward, and was surprised to discover that was not the case. When she finally found

and hired a young black man, she asked him why he thought there were so few blacks involved

in Information Technology. He replied that African Americans, just dont have the

required skills. While this young man clearly believed this to be true, my friends and I

were aghast at how such a thing could be. Even if young African Americans are not provided

with requisite skills to be accepted to college computer science programswhat belief system

is contributing to this situation? At some point there must be an artificial line of

demarcationsome point where those fit to learn computer programming skills may proceed

onward and upward, and all considered to be unfit may not.

Why do we feel such a burning need to draw these boundariesthese artificial lines

of demarcation? One of my friends pointed out that we could, as John Lennon invites

us to do in the lyrics in his song, Imagine, simply choose to walk through those imaginary

boundariesyet the reason most people dont do just that has to do with a fear of losing

control. He summed it up as,

We set boundaries because of a need for control.

All of this was on my mind when I received an email from a thoughtful reader, who wrote:

While QM (Quantum Mechanics) itself gives many observable examples of the fluidity and

variability of our realities what is being developed as quantum computing does not. Thats

because it has been developed in a put new wine in old bottles fashion. It uses

binary as base. So in classical computing a bit can be in one of two states 0 OR 1.

A qubit can be in one of three states 0 OR 1 OR (0 and 1) the state of superposition.

Of course computers have to be practical so such an approach, limited though it may be,

makes sense.

Its like the cat in the box. The example was given using only alive and dead. But in

actuality a superposition can be and usually is more (alive|dead|male|female|tabby|calico|etc)

Superposition is the confluence of two or more seemingly discrete states. But our thinking

at the moment is strongly binary. Hence our creation of digital as being the foundation

for our current approach to computing.

I replied to this email stating I agreed that a bias exists toward viewing the world with

a bias toward binary / classical operations. I love the example of Schrodingers cat

not simply being alive or dead (which is essentially a throwback to binary either/or classical

thinking), but rather alive, sickly, pregnant, old, young, dead, etc. The way quantum

logic was initially described indeed contains classical binary bias, with its von

Neumann cut being an imaginary line by which one supposedly can determine whether

to employ Classical or Quantum physics equations.

But what if this arbitrary line of demarcation is just as artificial and man-made as all

of our other artificially constructed boundary lines? What if the scientists seeking a Theory

of Everything (TOE) one day prove the physical world is ruled by quantum physics laws and

equations, and classical physics is just a limited, special case? As far out as that

may seem, a growing number of scientists are writing research papers and proposing theories

stating just that.

Classical logic is a special case (subset) of quantum logic. Illustration from Cynthia

Sue Larsons paper, Primacy of Quantum Logic in the Natural World.

In my paper Primacy of Quantum Logic in the Natural World, I pointed out that we need

true quantum logic, and not classical Boolean logic approaches that cant ever get to

the heart of quantum logic and phenomena. As I explain in my paper, quantum logic and

phenomena is the larger set within which classical physics and logic reside, and not the other

way around. We thus must pay better attention to the natural world in order to learn to

recognize the natural order of quantum logic all around us, including occasional evidence

of reality shifts and quantum jumps demonstrating Evidence of Macroscopic Quantum Phenomena.

Quantum computing represents the beginning of a new form of technology, indicating were

entering the Quantum Age. In order to build quantum computers, we require quantum phenomena

occurring on a macroscopic scale, as well as a true understanding of quantum logic.

Thanks to the work of researchers in the fields of quantum biology, quantum cognition, and

quantum cosmologysuch as Johnjoe McFadden, Jerome Busemeyer, and Yasunori Nomura who

Ive interviewed in my blog and my Living the Quantum Dream radio showwe can now

start to recognize that Nature is already utilizing quantum logic. The photosynthesis

of plants has been proven to be a quantum process happening in a warm, wet, noisy

biological environment where such things werent supposed to happen, yet clearly they are.

And fortunately for us, it increasingly seems more and more clear that rather than living

in a binary, limited, boundary-constricted worldthe natural world is likely much more

unrestricted, open, and quantum in every way.

Torment: Tides of Numenera Review - A worthy successor to Planescape: Torment? [Spoiler-free] - Duration: 10:44.

Greetings and welcome I'm Ash and today I would like to talk to you about Torment: Tides

of Numenera, an isometric story-focused RPG and a spiritual successor to one of the best

games that have ever graced the genre - Planescape: Torment.

Much like its predecessor Tides of Numenera features a vast amount of interesting characters,

tough decisions, compelling stories, enough lore to fill out at least a couple of books,

and as is tradition, completely unremarkable combat.

After spending well over a year in Early Access Tides of Numenera has now finally arrived

in full.

So if you're wondering whether it was worth the wait, and if its even remotely as enticing

as Planescape: Torment, allow me to share my thoughts on everything I've experienced

throughout my playthrough.

And don't worry about spoilers as I've made sure to only use examples from the first couple

of hours.

If you've ever tried Planescape: Torment you're probably aware that there was an "optimal"

way to play it.

Unless you focused around Wisdom and Intelligence your character would simply be too dimwitted

to uncover some of the more arcane secrets hidden throughout the world.

In theory it makes sense, and its easy to understand why the developers did this, but

in practice it essentially punished anyone who didn't spend 15 minutes on the Wiki before

starting their playthrough.

This is thankfully not the case in Tides of Numenera.

It doesn't matter if you choose a mage, a warrior, or a jack of all trades, you will

be able to experience all of the story regardless of your class.

Each of the three archetypes has their strengths and weaknesses, so don't expect your warrior

(or Glaive as they are called) to instantly be skilled at esoteric arts, but you can definitely

pursue that path should you desire to.

And if you ever find yourself right at the edge of success, you can always expend a couple

of points from your effort pool in order to pass some of the trickier skill checks.

You can only do this so many times before you need to rest and 'refuel', but its still

an amazing feature as it completely sidesteps the eternal problem of classic RPGs - conversation

options being grayed out because you're missing a couple of skill points.

But no matter how much you try, and no matter how skilled your character becomes, it is

important to note that you will never master everything!

Here is where your companions come into play.

Not only are they a source of amusing banter and a great help during combat, but they can

also lend their skills to you.

So if your character has the charisma of a disfigured brick, don't worry, you can let

your companions do all of the actual talking and still make a pacifist run if you so wish.

What this means is that you are free to create whatever character you want, because as you

long as you run with a balanced party you will always have plenty of options available

to you.

It also helps that each of your companions has something intriguing about them, so it

never feels bad swapping between them in order to solve a difficult quest.

Callistege tore open the fabric of reality one too many times and now constantly has

to argue with an infinite numbers of her alternate selves; Rhin is a seemingly meek young child

who claims she can speak to gods... which come in the shape of mundane rocks; Erritis

on first glance appears to be the biggest and most suicidal idiot that has ever graced

the Ninth World, and the list goes on.

Each one brings with them a variety of useful skills and abilities, but more importantly,

each one brings with them a fascinating story that slowly unravels itself as you get to

know them better.

So even if you dislike a character at first, I would still recommend you give them a chance

because you might just be surprised with the results!

As you might expect from Planescape: Torment's successor the same applies to the story at

large, and if you put in a bit of time you will find yourself richly rewarded.

It all begins with you being 'born' a couple of kilometers in the air, and then plummeting

straight down before you've even gotten your bearings.

Since the tragic tale of the 10-second-man wouldn't be a very exciting story, you do

end up surviving the fatal crash nearly unscathed.

As you'll quickly learn this is because you're a Castoff - a vessel once inhabited by The

Changing God in his endless pursuit for immortality.

Besides being nigh indestructible and far more skilled than the average human, you also

posses the memories of a thousand lifetimes within the labyrinthine maze of your mind.

The parallels to Planescape: Torment are obvious, and I am very glad to say that Tides of Numenera

is just as intriguing, and just as well written as its predecessor.

But its not just the main story that is well written, it is nearly all of them!

The world in Tides of Numenera is filled to the brim with interesting characters you can

endlessly annoy with overly personal questions about their lives and problems.

Even completely irrelevant NPCs, ones that serve no role in the main story, have a ridiculous

amount of dialogue you can plunge into.

And that is exactly what I did, only to later find that seven hours have past and I still

haven't done the first step of the main storyline!

Don't take that as a complaint from me, however, because those seven hours were spent completely

immersed into Tides of Numenera's universe, constantly learning more about the Ninth World

and its inhabitants.

While I can't talk about the main storyline without potentially ruining it for you, I

can give you a glimpse of why I love the storytelling in Tides of Numenera so much.

For example, deep in the underbelly of Sagus, the first quest hub, there resides a small

cannibalistic cult.

In most other games you would barge in there with swords and fireballs swinging and just

cleave through all of them, but in Tides of Numenera you're going to be hard pressed to

not agree with them.

They aren't bloodthirsty savages, but rather historians that want to preserve the knowledge

and essence of those that have passed on.

Despite all of this you would still think the city would send in the guards the moment

they learned about their existence, but no, the cultists actually serve as a sort of detective

force.

As it turns out, being able get information out of dead bodies is an excellent way of

solving crime, especially when there are no witnesses besides the victim itself.

Its bizarre, its disgusting, its morbid, but I can't help but agree that what they do is

truly useful.

These types of encounters serve almost no purpose to the main story, but due to all

of the extremely well written dialogue they are so compelling I simply couldn't stop myself

from chatting up every single person I met.

So if you decide to play Tides of Numenera, heed my advice and spend a bit of time exploring

every nook and cranny - you won't regret it!

Much like its predecessor Tides of Numenera has plenty of ways to get your characters

into a fight, and much like its predecessor its also one of the most uninspired parts

of the game.

Its not as unplayably bad as it was throughout Early Access, but the combat is still clunky

and lacking in some of the depth you might expect from an isometric RPG.

It also doesn't help that the graphics are fairly basic in general, and while you can

easily ignore their flaws in favor of story, things become a bit more problematic when

the only thing you see is bland attack animation after bland attack animation.

The one area the combat does excel in, however, is in the ability to mess around with the

environment in order to achieve an edge over your opponents.

You can rig derelict machines to explode in the enemy's faces, you can activate ancient

relics in order to protect your allies, or if you just want to get it over with you can

clobber your enemies with a stick made out of hands.

But perhaps most interestingly of all, you can actually talk to your enemies in the middle

of combat and potentially convince them to cease hostilities!

Given how the combat is mostly boring this is the option I ended up resorting to each

time I got dragged into a fight.

As such, I have literally had five 'proper' combat encounters throughout the entirety

of Tides of Numenera, and all five times I ended up in trouble because of saying something

colossally stupid to the wrong person.

If I could go back in time I can almost guarantee I would be able to get out of those fights

as well, and this is perhaps my favorite aspect of Tides of Numenera.

You have an almost unbelievable amount of freedom when it comes to dealing with obstacles,

and if you are so inclined you could beat the entire game without ever harming another

living being!

Its not often that you can roleplay the whole spectrum between a saint and a completely

bloodthirsty maniac, so to have these types of options available to the player is a great

way to get them invested into the world and their character... because at the end of the

day it really is your character!

Torment: Tides of Numenera is without a doubt one of the best RPGs I've played in recent

years.

It is nowhere near perfect, and the combat is straight up boring, but its story and characters

were so compelling to me that I simply couldn't stop once I got invested.

No matter where I went, and no matter who I talked to, there was always some new and

bizarre revelation to discover.

The gameplay mechanics themselves may be bland, but the world and its characters feel truly

alive, and in my eyes that's all that matters for a story focused RPG.

If you're a fan of Planescape: Torment or similar RPGs that have sacrificed gameplay

for story, odds are you'll enjoy Tides of Numenera as well.

On the other hand, if you love Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny because of their combat

mechanics and intricate skill combos, then I'm not really sure if Tides of Numenera will

offer you the experience you seek.

Chances are you already know if you like this sort of RPG, but if you have even an inkling

of interest I fully recommend you give Tides of Numenera a spin.

Thank you guys for watching, and if you enjoyed this, or even if you didn't, please do let

me know.

And with that said, I hope you have a nice day and I'll see you soon.

See ya!

Adam Olsen - Response to a corrupted fundraising system in BC politics - Duration: 4:23.

This is great, okay, so I'm just going to hold court in the office here for a few minutes.

I just want you to hear how "amazing" our provincial government is.

This is enough to make you want to change government for sure, and add some BC Greens

I guarantee it.

Okay the corporate lobbyists, some of you might have read this article from the

Globe & Mail this weekend.

Corporate lobbyists, whose business it is to work on behalf of their clients, basically

special interests, to get the interests of their special interests in front of government,

are talking to about their donations to the BC Liberals and to the BC NDP.

So, here are some quotes from the article.

Just some "gems" just "beauties" that everyone in BC is going to feel really uncomfortable

about I am sure!

"Some Liberal supporters told the Globe," these lobbyists, "that it is a free-for-all,

some players who need to compete with others for politicians attention feel "coerced" by the

Party to keep giving or be shut out of the increasingly expensive inner circles."

"One lobbyist said there is "no limit" to the calls and e-mails from the Liberals – and

also from the New Democrats – asking for money, and it feels "extortionist."

"A consultant called it "like a shakedown," particularly near election time. Still, another

said B.C.'s system "corrupts in a very deep and profound way."

Are we feeling good about ourselves? I certainly am not!

Mr. Giraud, who is, works for Woodfibre and lobbies the provincial government on behalf

of that LNG project in Howe Sound, said "attending lots of fundraisers is "a good way for your

organization to get remembered. … It's important to be seen and it's just part of the culture.

It's the cocktail circuit for people who are in politics."

Wow amazing!

Another quote, "It's like you are getting strong-armed!"

Where are we? Are we in Canada? In British Columbia? What is this?

Another one, it continues, normally I like to keep my videos under two minutes but we

are just going to keep this one going for as long as it takes.

So another one said, "You are paying to not to be blacklisted,"

Wow! Unbelieveable!

She said, "The whole thing is smelly."

Unbelievable here!

Okay! Another quote, "It's telegraphed quite clearly from the party what is expected of you,"

"It's the price of doing business," the lobbyist said. "It bugs me. It's not right."

Another one said, (correction) they feel "complicit in a corrupt system."

Again, this is British Columbia's donation rules here.

The rules that the BC Liberals said British Columbians have no problem with.

Quote, "I'd get two or three calls a week from the NDP," one lobbyist said. "There was

an expectation – 'we are going to be in power – it would probably be advantageous

to give us some money so that we can be friends."

And finally, yes finally, "it is pay to play. It doesn't mean you are going to win the game.

It just means you are going to be in the tournament."

Look, I am the only candidate in Saanich North and the Islands that is not accepting corporate

and union donations.

I the only candidate that is not strong-arming people to donate, in fact we have got many

people, many individuals in our Province who have contributed to my campaign and I am very

grateful for it.

That is unacceptable, it is the result of a two-party system, they are complicit in

ensuring that they can have their interests funded, the partisan interests of their Party

funded, yes the NDP have said that are going to change it if they win, the BC Greens have

already made the change, we have shown real leadership, I'm showing real leadership in

Saanich North and the Islands and I invite you to get involved in my campaign so that

we can change this kind of politics and we can get back to governing our Province properly.

Thank you. Until next time, HIÁȻE.

See ya!
