Youtube daily report w Dec 31 2017

Although the phrase "mad as a hatter" is, and will likely long be, associated with

Charles Dodgson's (a.k.a. Lewis Carroll's) 1865 novel, Alice in Wonderland, contrary

to popular belief, Carroll neither coined the phrase nor did he use it in his works.

(The Hatter is referred to as "mad", along with his little tea party, but he is never

explicitly called "Mad Hatter" in Carroll's works nor is the phrase "mad as a hatter"

used.)

So where did the phrase "mad as a hatter" actually come from?

The first documented instance of the phrase can be found in the 1829 short story, Noctes

Ambrocianæ, published in Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine:

NORTH: Many years – I was Sultan of Bello for a long period, until dethroned by an act

of the grossest injustice; but I intend to expose the traitorous conspirators to the

indignation of an outraged world.

TICKLER (aside to SHEPHERD.): He's raving.

SHEPHERD (to TICKLER.): Dementit.

ODOHERTY (to both.): Mad as a hatter.

Hand me a segar.

The next known documented instance of it appears in the 1835 work The Clockmaker, by Canadian

Thomas Chandler Haliburton:

And with that he turned right round, and sat down to his map and never said another word,

lookin' as mad as a hatter the whole blessed time…

(And later in the same work) Father he larfed out like any thing; I thought he would never

stop – and sister Sall got right up and walked out of the room, as mad as a hatter.

Says she, Sam, I do believe you are a born fool, I vow.

The leading theory as to the origin of the phrase is that it refers to a genuine condition

that began afflicting certain hat makers in the 17th century called "mad hatters'

syndrome" or "hatters' shakes".

The symptoms associated with this condition were first described in full detail in 1829

by a Russian physician, the same year the first known instance of the expression came

about.

It continued to be a problem for hat makers through the 19th century in much of the Western

world, though in the U.S. it was a phenomenon that continued into the mid-20th century for

reasons we'll get into in a bit.

As to the underlying cause of mad hatters' syndrome, in the 17th century in France, expensive

hats made of felt began being produced using mercury nitrate.

The method in question seems to have been developed by the Huguenots of France who,

after Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes in 1685, which had previously given them certain

religious freedoms and rights, were forced to flee to Britain where they soon shared

their little trade secret with British hatters, with it spreading from there.

The specific felt production method here was to use mercury nitrate in a solution used

to strip fur from animal skin (usually from a rabbit or beaver) in a process known as

"carroting", so called because of the orange-ish colour of the mercury-nitrate solution.

(Aside: before the 17th century, carrots were predominantly purple, not orange.)

The specific benefit to the mercury nitrate here was to cause the stiffer outer hairs

to soften and become limp, allowing the hatters to pack them together more easily.

After carrotting, the resulting matted fur was shrunk in boiling water and then dried.

The processed felt subsequently used for hat making continued to emit mercury vapour for

some time after carrotting.

Hat makers rarely wore any kind of safety equipment or protective clothing back then

and often worked in cramped, extremely poorly ventilated work spaces.

Because of this, invariably they were exposed to dangerous amounts of mercury vapours during

their day to day lives, culminating in prevalent mercury poisoning among those in the industry.

The symptoms of mercury poisoning are numerous and in many cases extremely severe, affecting

the heart, brain, lungs, kidneys and in some cases, the immune system, among other things.

Most pertinent to the topic at hand, neurological symptoms associated with mercury poisoning

can include, but are not limited to, abnormal sensations in the limbs, muscle tremors, erratic

mood changes and mental deterioration.

The behaviour of those afflicted by mercury poisoning is usually typified by anxiety,

extreme timidness and a general desire to remain "unobserved", usually responding

with anger or irritability if this wish is ignored.

Back in the halcyon days of the 18th and 19th century when these symptoms were seen simply

as a necessary aspect of making nice hats, instead of a debilitating, avoidable health

concern, people simply referred to the condition as the "hatters' shakes" with little

effort initially being expended to discover the underlying cause.

Over in America, hat makers didn't fare any better, with those suffering from what

medical literature would later more accurately define as "mercurial tremors" experiencing

a similar amount of apathy towards fixing or preventing the problem being demonstrated.

The condition was also known to some in the 1850s as the "Danbury Shakes", Danbury

being the largest hat-making town in America at the time.

In 1860, a treatise on common ailments that seemed to affect a large percentage of New

Jersey hatters was written by physician Addison Freeman, titled Mercurial Disease Among Hatters,

published in the Transactions of Medical Society of New Jersey.

Freeman noted in the paper (which was completely ignored by the local industry),

A proper regard for the health of this class of citizens demands that mercury should not

be used so extensively in the manufacture of hats, and that if its use is essential,

that the hat finishers' room should be large, with a high ceiling, and well ventilated.

One year later, Adolph Kussmaul wrote at length about the symptoms of mercury poisoning in

1861, including briefly mentioning hatters in the work.

As a result of mercury now correctly being identified as the culprit behind mad hatters'

syndrome, alternate methods of processing the fur were developed over the following

decades.

This resulted in mercury being phased out of the production of felt hats in places like

France and Britain by the end of the 19th century (even by law in France), but not in

the United States.

As one report in the Bureau of Statistic of Labor and Industries of New Jersey noted in

1890 concerning the conditions at hatter workshops:

The surprise is that men can be induced to work at all in such death producing enclosures.

It is hard to believe that men of ordinary intelligence could be so indifferent to the

ordinary laws of health…

It does not seem to have occurred to them that all the efforts to keep up wages… [are]

largely offset by the impairment of their health, due to neglect of proper hygienic

regulations of their workshops…

And when the fact of the workmen in the sizing room, who stand in water, was mentioned, and

the simple and inexpensive means by which it could be largely avoided was spoken of,

the reply was that it would cost money and hat manufacturers did not care to expend money

for such purposes, if they could avoid it.

Another report, Chronic Mercury Poisoning, noted of hatters in the 1940s,

The man affected is easily upset and embarrassed, loses all joy in life and lives in constant

fear of being dismissed from his job.

He has a sense of timidity and may lose self control before visitors.

Thus, if one stops to watch such a man in a factory, he will sometimes throw down his

tools and turn in anger on the intruder, saying he cannot work if watched.

Occasionally a man is obliged to give up work because he can no longer take orders without

losing his temper or, if he is a foreman, because he has no patience with men under

him.

Drowsiness, depression, loss of memory and insomnia may occur, but hallucinations, delusions

and mania are rare.

The most characteristic symptom, though it is seldom the first to appear, is mercurial

tremor.

It is neither as fine nor as regular as that of hyperthyroidism.

It may be interrupted every few minutes by coarse jerky movements.

It usually begins in the fingers, but the eyelids, lips and tongue are affected early.

As it progresses it passes to the arms and legs, so that it becomes very difficult for

a man to walk about the workshop, and he may have to be guided to his bench.

At this stage the condition is so obvious that it is known to the layman as "hatter's

shakes."

Rampant mercury poisoning among hatters and felt makers didn't end in the United States

until WW2.

In 1941, the U.S. Public Health Service convened a meeting with representatives from the felt

and hat making industries to force them to use an alternative method of felt production.

While it may seem like they were doing this only out of concern for the workers, in fact

they had long known about this particular problem within this industry.

The real impetus for finally doing something about it was to conserve mercury for use in

the war, with a side benefit being better working conditions for felt producers.

With the push, the industry representatives agreed to switch to using a different, well-known

method of felt production using prevalent and cheap hydrogen peroxide.

In any event, Lewis Carroll would have been well aware of the symptoms of mad hatters'

syndrome, as he grew up in Stockport, one of the major hat making hubs of England at

the time.

Nevertheless, seemingly intentionally, Carroll's Hatter, while a bit of an oddball, does not

portray the typical symptoms associated with mercury poisoning, such as extreme shyness,

shakes, loss of self-confidence, and timidness to an excessive degree.

This type of behavior couldn't contrast more with the exuberant and jovial personality

of the character, a fact that probably wasn't lost on Carroll's original audience.

Later, Carroll further injects a little subtle reference to the syndrome when the King of

Hearts tells the Hatter not to be nervous, a seemingly uncontrollable trait of "mad

hatters" of the day, lest he execute him on the spot.

It has also been speculated (with no hard evidence to back this notion up, so take this

with a very large grain of salt) that Carroll based the character on Theophilus Carter,

a noteworthy furniture dealer who lived at 48 High Street, Oxford while Carroll was an

Oxford don.

Carter was considered something of an eccentric who, according to the British Medical Journal,

is known to have been called "the mad hatter", presumably referencing his oddball behavior

and the fact that he purportedly almost always went around wearing a large top hat.

Pertinent to the topic at hand, Theophilus once invented a particularly useful alarm

clock (presented at the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park in 1851) that, at the appropriate

time, would tip the bed over, unceremoniously dumping the sleeping occupant on the floor.

It has been speculated, again with zero documented evidence backing the idea up, that this particular

invention inspired Carroll a little over a decade later to make the Hatter obsessed with

time in Alice and Wonderland.

If mercury poisoning wasn't enough, New Jersey hatters in the late 19th century had

another major ailment to contend with due to the extremely poor working conditions they

were made to endure- tuberculosis.

In fact, nearly 2/3 of hatters in New Jersey were dead of a pulmonary disease by 30 years

old.

The rates of mercury poisoning among this same group was reported as high as 50%, with

this number thought to be low given that many workers would attempt to mask their symptoms

for fear of losing their jobs.

In the 1930s, the U.S. Public Health Service reported the condition appearing in a whopping

80% of all felt makers.

???: ...H-Hello? ...Hi...! It's just me!

Kari: Well... It's um...

Kari: If you're listening to this, then the chances are I'm already out of this place, so.. yeah... Congrats for finding this if you did!

Kari: Ehehe... Well, I have one last favor before I possibly go out of existence, so um...

Kari: You mind playing this on New Years? That would be great!

Kari: Well, I don't have much to say, but...

Kari: If you're having any problems with anyone, then... I encourage you to at least solve it privately or just... you know, let go of it if things get worse or something.

Kari: Uhm... Huhuhuhm... That's... That's it.

Kari: Just... if we don't move on... If we keep complaining about something if it can't be solved, then...

Kari: What good is it gonna get us? What good is it gonna get us if... We start hating on each other for no reason? That's just... I'm not sure.

Kari: That's... That's all there is, I guess.

Kari: Please... just... Don't hate each other anymore, alright? Please... move on...

Kari: Well, that's it, I guess! I'm sorry if this got cheesy or something...

Kari: I'm actually recording without a script, so... Ahaha... I'm... I'm sorry.

Kari: Well, I have one last confession to make before I go.

Kari: What you guys have been hearing... It's not really my real voice. Hehe...

Kari: Well... That's... That's it, I guess.

Kari: I... I... I guess I just kinda wanted to be cute or something.

Kari: That's kinda what appeals to a lot of people, doesn't it?

Kari: Um... I'm sorry...

Kari: Here's one last song before I go, alright? I hope you like it or something...

Kari: Sorry.

Kari: Oh and... One more thing...

Kari: Take care of yourself, okay? Don't hurt yourself at all.

Kari: Just... If you're in a tough spot right now, then keep your head up.

Kari: We... may not always get the ending we want... But there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Kari: Alright? Hang in there, bud. (You have so much to achieve, so live on for me, okay?)

English Translation: Forgetfulsubs

"Don't say you want to die! Live on without giving up!"

...How foolish it is to say songs with lyrics like that are correct.

In truth, I couldn't care a bit if I died, but I'd be pretty sad if the people around me did

I suppose it's some kind of ego; that goes "because I just wouldn't like it"

Not caring if strangers live or not,

And hating someone else just seems like some kind of fashion now

But "Live peacefully" nevertheless?

What a wonderful thing that would be indeed...

On the other side of the screen, someone dies

Lamenting that someone else sings

Influenced by that, a young boy

Ran off carrying a knife.

We are hated by life itself.

Pushing values and ego, as always, so very simply we broadcast songs about

wanting to kill somebody else over radio waves.

We are hated by life itself.

We who thoughtlessly say we want to die

And look at life carelessly, are hated by it.

Special Thanks to EmujiAtara for the model

I've got no money, and so throughout the day again, I sing songs of praise to indolence

Still without grasping the meaning of life, I come to an epiphany that it's pointless and take a breath.

Are these wounds really ok to be expressed with words like "I'm lonely"

Carrying nothing but such obstinacy, today again I sleep alone on my bed

We who were but youths at some point start to change into young adults.

Growing old, one day we rot away like fallen leaves with not a soul in the world knowing of our existence...

Obtaining an immortal body, and living our whole existence without dying…

...I'm just daydreaming about these kinds of science fiction situations

I couldn't care a bit if I died,

But I'm wanted alive by the people around me

Living on carrying such contradictions... I think I'll get yelled at.

"Things that are "correct" should stay "correct""

"If you don't want to die, then live"

If we're going to end up sad and if that's fine

Then you gotta laugh alone forever

We are hated by life itself.

Without even grasping the meaning of joy, we just hate the hand life has dealt us

and merely curse our pasts.

We are hated by life itself.

We who simply like the idea of the word "goodbye" a little too much, with no knowledge of a true farewell, are hated by life itself.

Happiness, farewells, love and friendship;

They're all goods that can be bought for money… within jokes made by comical dreams.

I might just die tomorrow you know,

Everything might just end up being for naught,

Mornings and nights, spring and autumn,

Unchanging, someone dies somewhere.

I don't need dreams or even a tomorrow,

If you'll have lived on then that's all I need.

Yeah... That's actually what I want to sing about.

Hated by life itself

In the end, we'll die anyway

You will, I will, one day all of us will rot away like fallen leaves

But regardless, we live on frantically--

Shouldering our lives, frantically, we live--

Killing, struggling, laughing, shouldering it all

Living, living, living, living-- just live.

She's not dead just yet. 1/20/18

YouTube Stars Who Completely Disappeared - Duration: 4:58.

As of 2017, there are 1.3 billion YouTube users, and over 300 hours of footage uploaded

to the website, daily.

That means competition on the Tube is fiercer than ever.

But what's even more rare than hitting it big, is when a YouTube star vanishes into

thin air.

From gaming gods to vegan lifestyle gurus, these YouTube stars completely disappeared.

RedKeyMon

When RedKeyMon suddenly stopped making videos at the height of his fame in May 2015, fans

wondered about his wellbeing.

His last video pulled in more than 25 million views — who would walk away from that?

RedKeyMon finally resurfaced in July 2017, posting on his last video,

"Hey guys, first of all, I am still alive!...I hate saying goodbye [which is] why I never

did."

The well-known Grand Theft Auto player explained that he meant to take a break, but then lost

his motivation.

He signed off on a hopeful note, thanking his fans, and leaving the door open for a

possible return.

Twaimz

Twaimz, an openly gay comedy vlogger of Arabic descent, grew up in California and was teased

about his sexuality and his weight, which prompted him to turn to the internet for friends.

After slaying Vine's comedy scene, he moved on to YouTube.

By late 2015, his Twaimz channel had more than 1 million subscribers.

Then, he suddenly disappeared.

He told New York Magazine,

"The more videos I made, the more I was becoming like a character of myself...I was putting

on this facade, and I wasn't really getting anything real out of it.

It got to a point where it was too tiring for me to keep up the act."

Twaimz eventually returned to YouTube with a mission to spread positivity.

Essena O'Neill

At the age of 19, Australian model and vegan vlogger, Essena O'Neill, had more than a million

followers across several platforms, including Instagram and YouTube.

Today, her Instagram feed has a single post, and her YouTube channel only has three videos,

last uploaded in 2015.

Many people assumed her disappearance was some kind of publicity stunt that wouldn't

last more than a couple of weeks, but O'Neill practically vanished.

She told The Cut,

"I found myself drowning in the illusion.

Social media isn't real...It's a system based on social approval...It's perfectly orchestrated

judgement.

And it consumed me."

Kevin Wu

The case of Kevin Wu was considered one of the most mysterious vanishing acts in YouTube

history.

Known on YouTube as KevJumba, Wu had the third-most subscribed channel in 2008, thanks to his

self-deprecating vlogs and parodies.

But in 2015, Wu was reportedly hit by a car in Los Angeles, breaking his spine and collapsing

his lungs.

He endured multiple surgeries and suffered mental health problems in the aftermath.

He told The Hollywood Reporter,

"My mood started to swing because every time they found something wrong with my body, I

was trying to downplay it."

Considered a danger to himself, Wu was checked into a mental health facility.

As of 2017, Wu's YouTube channel is public again, but he often makes posts private shortly

after making them.

There were rumors that Wu joined a cult during his recovery, but he insists the Buddhist

organizations he became involved with are no such thing.

LisaNova

After graduating from the University of Colorado/Boulder, aspiring actress Lisa Donovan headed west

in pursuit of the Hollywood dream.

When her creative partner suggested she use YouTube to launch her career, Donovan created

her channel in 2006.

Before long, her internet persona, LisaNova, was making the main page on the regular.

She caught the eye of a casting director, and made her MADtv debut in 2007.

Then, in 2009, she founded Maker Studios with her brother — and in 2011, she stopped making

videos.

Disney bought Maker for $500 million in 2014 and, with the exception of a cameo in 2015's

The Wedding Ringer, Donovan's been flying under the radar ever since.

Hannah Minx

Hannah Wagner was one of YouTube's earliest Japanophiles, known for dressing up as anime

characters and giving high-pitched Japanese lessons on her channel, MissHannahMinx.

She made her first video in 2009 — which amassed 450,000 views and launched her YouTube

stardom.

But in 2013, she suddenly vanished from social media without a trace.

While fans assumed the worst when her latest online presence dated back to 2013, Gazette

Review discovered that Wagner had left if all behind to start a family.

Mac Freeman

Mac Freeman's channel, WasteTimeChasingCars, was created in 2006 and soon became one of

the platform's go-to places for comedy shorts.

In 2008, his videos "Kobe [KO-bee] Bryant Can't Jump Like Me!" and "Lightsabers are

Fun" went viral, catapulting him to stardom.

But in late 2012, after five years and 65 videos, he suddenly stopped uploading.

While most YouTubers who vanish do end up resurfacing at some point, Freeman is one

of the few who hasn't as of yet, much to the disappointment of his fans.

One faithful subscriber wrote,

"It is so sad to see someone like Mac just leave with no goodbye or at least a notice."

BENTOCEPTION? | Akibento Anime Unboxing November 2017 - Duration: 3:14.

Help me translate this video into YOUR language! Leave [your name] here to credit yourself ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ

Hey guys! What's up?

You know the drill. It's time for another Akibento Unboxing video!

This is actually the November Akibento box, and

I'm sure you guys already know what's inside this box, but

you know, I'm going to open this anyway, like usual

So let's do this!

La~

Okay, so first we have this t-shirt

of Rem and Ichigo

So they kinda did a fusion together and they look like this now

So freaking awesome

Aw~

and next we have this Al bento box

He looks so adorable here

Let's open it up

Wow, this looks like a legit bento box

I think I'll be replacing my current bento box with this one, because

This looks really cool, I mean you got the chopsticks

You got 2 boxes here

And I don't eat that much so I think this fits me pretty well

Next we have this re:Zero comic book

I've watched re:Zero but I've never read the manga before

So I think I'll give this manga a go

but I don't think I'll be purchasing the rest of the volumes because

Comic books nowadays cost a fortune

and I'd rather save my money to buy something else other than manga

but still, I'm very happy to have this. Thank you, Akibento!

Next we have...

The Akibento Akidearest scarf

Let's see how the scarf looks like

So this scarf has the pictures of Akidearest's avatars

I think this looks pretty cute but

I don't think I'll be able to wear this anywhere because

This looks too mismatched with the clothes that I have

So I think I'm just gonna keep this (or give this away)

Next we have this Ichigo sticker

I'm not gonna lie, I'm not a Bleach fan

So I think I'm going to give this to my co-worker who might be into Bleach

Finally we have this month's pin

and a Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood air freshener

I'll put this on my drawer to freshen my room up

So this is this month's card and the theme for this box is Revival

So the featured YouTuber for this month's Akibento is Akidearest

I'm sure you guys already know who she is

So anyway, those were all the things inside the Akibento box

I hope you guys enjoyed watching me unbox this

My voice is kind raspy right now because I'm currently sick, so sorry about that

Anyway, as always if you guys are interested in getting this Akibento boxes yourself

then feel free to check out the link in the description box below

and if you use the coupon code "ANIME" you'll get a discount on your first box!

I've got a lot of questions asking me if these akibento boxes will ship to your country

Well this box currently only ships to the countries that are listed on their website

and I'm the only exception in Indonesia because I'm partnered up with them

So for those of you guys who are in Indonesia

I'm sorry, this doesn't ship to our country yet

I only manage to get this because I'm one of their partners

But hopefully they'll be able to reach more countries in 2018

Fingers crossed!

The 6 Things No Strong Woman Will Ever Tolerate In A Relationship - Duration: 5:23.

The 6 Things No Strong Woman Will Ever Tolerate In A Relationship

"Men themselves have wondered.

What they see in me.

They try so much.

But they can't touch.

My inner mystery

…. I'm a woman.

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman, That's me."

Maya Angelou's poem Phenomenal Woman is an ode to all the strong women in the world.

It exudes confidence and oozes charm, just like the wonderful women who turn heads.

She is not afraid of being alone because she finds solace in solitude, so if you are in love with her,

you've got to understand and respect her.

She knows her worth and will not settle for less ever.

If you don't treat her good, she'll bid goodbye.

Here are things that will turn off any strong woman:

1.

YOU CANNOT DISRESPECT HER.

EVER.

"Respect is a choice.

Whatever choice you make makes you.

Choose wisely." ― Roy T. Bennett

Respect is the most important thing in any relationship, and a strong woman won't have it any other way.

She listens to everyone and values their opinion, even if she does not agree with them.

So, if you disrespect her or anyone else's opinion, it shows your lack of understanding.

On her first, date she will notice minute details like how you treat the waiters, the cab driver or the security guard,

and if she sees that it is not as she had expected, then she'll vanish in no time.

2.

TRY TO DOMINATE HER AND SHE WILL OPEN THE DOOR FOR YOU

Sounded harsh, didn't it?

But to a strong woman, equality is everything.

She despises gender stereotyping and will not tolerate it.

Don't think even for a moment that she is submissive and will fulfill all your demands because you feel entitled being

a man (patriarchy is redundant to her).

So you can expect her to cross oceans for you if you do the same, and if you don't she won't even cross a puddle!

3.

MANIPULATION WILL NOT TRANSFORM HER MAGICALLY

She is a strong willed and independent woman who has certain boundaries that you better not break.

You cannot manipulate her to extract a 'yes' from her 'no'.

She will leave no stone unturned to do things for you, provided it does not jeopardize her freedom.

If you coax her to do something that she does not like, you are basically triggering her to call it an end.

You cannot subjugate her.

4.

NOT VALUING HER WORDS

Some people just listen to reply and not understand.

Then there are arrogant or ignorant people who do not want to hear what others have to say because they feel they know

everything.

If you're one of them, hard luck, because an intelligent woman knows the value of her words and would expect you to pay

attention.

She is always upgrading herself by listening and learning new things.

If you can't do the same, you have no place in her life.

5.

NOT SUPPORTING HER GOALS AND AMBITIONS

She's a woman with big dreams and works really hard to achieve them.

If you cannot support or motivate her, do not pull her down because then you are just a toxic person to them.

If you don't believe in her abilities, she will not be able to grow and the relationship cannot thrive on negativity.

6.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO EXPRESS YOUR EMOTIONS

A strong woman wants a man who will make her feel special, someone who feels lucky to have her.

She has her own space and will let you have yours provided there is communication.

Everyone loves to be appreciated by their partners, and if you do not treasure her, she will leave you.

No one can read your mind unless you speak.

Like Lear said "Nothing will come of nothing."

Netflix Confirm 'Friends' Is Going To Be There For You - Duration: 1:53.

Netflix Appears To Confirm 'Friends' Is Going To Be There For You

If you've never seen Friends, you're either a newly-born child (welcome to the world - and

if you're already able to read this then you're incredibly intelligent) or have been living

a life like Tom Hanks in Castaway.

If you've not been passing your days on a desert island, growing a serious beard and

communicating with a volleyball called 'Willllssssssoon' then you will know that Friends is a TV sitcom

series that defined the late 1990s and early 2000s.

And the good news is that it now appears to be coming to Netflix for you to binge-watch

to your heart's content if the endless repeats on various networks around the world weren't

already enough to satisfy your craving.

With almost every episode taking a title which begins with 'The One Where...', Netflix seems

to have teased the news in epic fashion, although this hasn't yet been officially confirmed.

Fans have collectively been losing their shit at the post on Twitter which reads 'The One

with the Show Everyone's Been Asking Us to Add'....

In its run from 1994 to 2004, US show Friends, which featured around the lives of six New

York City residents, became a smash hit and made megastars of its cast, Jennifer Aniston,

Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Courteney Cox.

At the peak of its 10-season run, the actors were reportedly paid $1 million (£740,000)

per episode for their appearances in seasons nine and 10.

That was obviously a few years ago but, taking into account inflation, that still comes out

at a shitload of cash.

Since it ended 13 years ago, fans have also been clamouring for a reunion and the stars

have never completely ruled it out in various get togethers.

However, it remains to be seen if a return of the show will happen one day.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Marriage Won't Last, Says TV Psychic - Duration: 1:40.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Marriage Won't Last, Says TV Psychic

What's all this about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

Apparently they're getting married or something.

No, I've not heard anything about it either.

Weird.

Well, looks like we may as well not bother with any of it, if the words of one Australian

psychic are anything to go by.

Kerrie Erwin appeared on breakfast show Sunrise to talk about the royals, and she didn't seem

to think the outlook was good for the engaged couple.

"I do get [feelings of] a pregnancy for her next year," she told presenters Angela Cox

and Michael Usher.

"But actually I don't think it's going to last.

"I'd probably give it five years.

I feel there is a lot of personal things going on between them because they're two very strong

individuals.

"Which is a sad thing.

I wish them all the best.

But it doesn't look good."

You'd imagine Meghan wouldn't be too impressed with this prediction - well, if she's bothered

at all - having quit her role on legal drama Suits and left her pet dog back home in the

US, in order to fulfil her upcoming royal duties.

The wedding's not likely to be a cheap either.

Still, there was good news for Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, with Erwin proclaiming

them to be 'soulmates' and offering her predictions as to the gender of their next child.

"I feel it's a girl.

I feel really happy for them because I've always loved Diana, she's absolutely gorgeous,"

she said.

"I feel like they're a very good couple.

They're soulmates."

5 Swim Toys To Help Improve Your Technique | Swimming Tips For Beginners - Duration: 3:39.

- We all know swimming can get a bit tedious

from time to time.

Trawling up and down that black line.

- Yeah, as triathletes, we are often quite guilty

of just sticking to front crawl

and not really changing it up much,

but there's still other ways in which

you can spice up your training

and using toys is one of them.

(bright music)

You're probably wondering what on earth we're talking about,

but I'm afraid we don't actually mean

jumping in the pool with a large inflatable

and messing about.

These are actually toys and tools

that can help you improve your swimming technique.

- Now there's a wide selection of different toys

that you can get,

so we've just picked a selection

that you can add into your training

to make it a bit more interesting.

(upbeat music)

So this is quite a common pull toy

and it's called a pull buoy

and basically, you put this between your legs

and it raises your hips slightly out of the water.

- Yeah, it's great if you are a swimmer

who struggles with sinking hips.

It basically does a similar action

to what a wetsuit would do in open water,

but it also helps to single out your arms,

so you're really working just on your upper body.

You can't really use your legs when you've got that.

If you're just stuck and you can't find a pull buoy

in your local pool, then a kick-board

can work as an improvisation,

it's just a little bit less comfortable.

- So you might have heard people refer

to the pull paddle combo.

And so using a pull buoy and a set of paddles,

you're basically gonna isolate the front end of your stroke.

- Yeah, if you're using large paddles like Mark and I,

then it's very much about power, working on your strength

and if you wanna feel fast,

you can just take the pull buoy out,

keep the paddles on, and use your legs

and it'll give you a great feel of the water.

But if you wanna work more on technique,

there are actually other paddles available on the market.

Slightly smaller ones that'll just really

reiterate getting that perfect stroke.

Now I know we've already mentioned the kick-board,

but as its name says, it's specifically designed for kick.

If you're got a board like this,

you can just place your fingers through the holes

and the whole idea is to be comfortable and relaxed,

resting your forearms on top

so you can concentrate purely on your kick.

- And you don't have to bury

your face into the water either.

Keep your head up so that you can breaths,

most importantly, and then it's social as well,

you can chat to the person next to ya.

But really you're doing it

so you can isolate your leg kick.

- Now another toy, slightly less usual is the snorkel

and if you look closely, you'll notice

that it's different to the snorkel you'd use on holiday.

This one goes down the centre of your face.

So you can concentrate on keeping your head

completely still when you're swimming.

Now a lot of swimmers struggle with the breathing.

It's the movement of the head that upsets the stroke.

But if you've got this, you can breathe

as much as you want and consistently

and then you're purely focusing

on what your arm and legs are doing.

- As you can see, I've got a set of fins on.

And what fins do is basically gonna propel

you out of the water slightly

and make you travel a lot quicker.

And it also improves your ankle flexibility

and I guess it's similar, it's a bit like

an outboard motor does on a boat.

And it's the closest you're gonna come

to feeling like Michael Phelps.

(upbeat music)

- Now we covered five toys in this video

and it might be a little bit daunting.

So if you wanna try before you buy,

quite a few pools will have a pull buoy

or a kick-board at least that you can borrow first.

- Yeah, so you don't have to get all those,

maybe just select a couple that are gonna help you

on some of the areas of the swim stroke

that you're focusing on.
