The Woodpecker Ep 127 - How I did my hand cut dovetails - Duration: 8:10.

Hi, on The woodpecker today, I'm going to show how I made my dovetails on my tool rack.

When I built my new hand tools rack, I made all the frame with hand cut dovetails.

I also did all the drawers the same way.

Now I'm going to show you how I made them.

I will begin with the frame standard dovetails.

Making dovetails is simpler; if I start with a nice straight ninety degrees cut.

Then I can set my marking gauge at the thickness of my wood and mark the end of the board that will receive my dovetails.

Then with a dovetail saddle square and a half inch setup bloc, I trace the first two extremity lines.

Next, with a compass adjusted to the width of the dovetails I want, I make a small mark at each end of the dovetails.

I start with my first lines and work my way to the other side.

When I have all my marks, I trace the rest of the dovetails with the same saddle square.

When I'm done, I don't forget to mark what I need to remove.

Then I can cut on the lines.

Then I can, if it's not already done, mark the edge grain.

Next I enlarge the mark, just before cutting both ends half dovetail.

Now I can cut between the dovetails.

To do so, I let my chisel drop into the marking gauge scratch, and I widen it.

You can see that I use a square block of wood to help me cut straight.

Then, I can remove even more wood so I'll have more space to cut deeper with the chisel.

I do that approximatively three times on each side

and eventually the piece detach itself from the board.

I just need to remove it.

Sometime using only my fingers is not enough.

Next I can clean the sockets.

Now I can start to work on the pins.

I begin by tracing another marking gauge line, to the same thickness as the one before.

Then I place what I've just cut over the plank and trace the shape of my dovetails.

Then with same saddle square, I trace vertical lines on the ends of my mark, so I have a visual reference of what to cut.

You can also clearly see that I've marked the waste part of the pins; it's a bad time to goof up.

I try to leave the pencil mark, because if I cut it my joints will be a little bit slack.

The rest is fairly similar as for the dovetails; I need to remove unwanted wood.

The only difference is that I use two different size chisels; depending on the side I cut.

When the sockets are removed, just like last time, I clean everything.

Now I just need to check my work.

Here it is; one corner done.

I still need to make three more for the whole frame.

But I also made drawers with half blind dovetails.

Just as for the frame, I begin with nice straight cuts.

After adjusting the marking gauge, one rod to the thickness of the sides and the other to the height of

my dovetails, I can mark the back and the side of the drawer front.

Then I can trace both extremities dovetail's lines.

When I make half blind dovetails, unlike normal dovetails, I always begin by cutting the pins.

But I need, just like last time, to mark the space in between the pins.

Then I can trace their form.

Next I cut at an angle on the line; taking care not to cut pass the marking gauge lines.

Now I can remove the unwanted wood.

This is mostly the same job as I did for the other pins.

I could also have used a small scrapper like this one to cut the rest of the wood the saw couldn't cut.

But I didn't do it this time.

I just removed some wood, little by little, up until it got to the marking gauge line.

At the end, I just need to make sure it's straight and clean.

Then I can take the side and mark the height of its dovetails.

It's the same adjustment as before.

Now I can place the piece I've just worked on directly on the marking gauge line and, with a super sharp pencil, trace the shape of the dovetails.

Then I just need to cut just beside the lines.

I always cut all the lines with the same angle before switching angle; I find it easier that way.

Then I need to remove the waste wood.

But oak is much harder than mahogany,

so instead of chopping it, I cut the sockets with the scroll saw.

Now the only thing I need to do is to clean the sockets.

Job well done.

I need to make the other sides now.

The back of the drawers are done the exact same way I did the frame of the rack, except I cut the sockets with the scroll saw.

This was how I made all the dovetails for my new tools rack.

The Day the Holocaust Began In America.

Ask not how it could happen; ask why it doesn�t happen more often. I have heard eyewitness

accounts of NAZI concentration camps just after liberation in 1945.

I have seen haunting photos of bulldozers piling-up mountains of naked human corpses.

In NAZI Germany, this was all legal.

The NAZIs simply passed laws that legalized murder and nobody challenged them because

dissent was impossible.

California now legalizes murder under Senate Bill 277 � and too few challenge it because

dissent is nearly impossible. You�ll know it�s a Holocaust once you

realize how powerless you are to challenge it.

Holocaust is not a German phenomenon; it�s a human phenomenon. Last century, it happened

in the land of Schiller, Goethe and Beethoven, and today, it happens in the land of football,

beer, and gambling.

Humanity has made no progress since 1945. In the name of unbridled capitalism, we Americans

have kept the world at war since 1945, which means there�s been no progress in the understanding

of one�s fellow man.

And fascism now comes home to roost.

But our American brand of fascism differs from German-style fascism; theirs grew out

of poverty and desperation, while ours, curiously enough, emerges from corporate prosperity.

But in the final analysis, all totalitarian regimes are based on the same thing � the

raw power of the state to kill with impunity.

The State of California now asserts the raw power to inject your children � with whichever

chemicals, bacteria, and viruses they deem necessary � and you have no right to �informed

consent,� which means (1) no right to be apprised of the risk and (2) no ability to

opt-out.

And despite the obvious fact that all vaccines carry an appreciable degree of risk, the state

refuses to apprise you of those risks precisely because you have no right to opt-out. That�s

why they call it �mandatory� vaccination.

The doctrine of �informed consent� pertains only to elective medical procedures; but where

the procedure is mandatory, as with SB 277, �informed consent� goes out the window.

Mandatory vaccination is much like �selective service� � your child is drafted, against

your will, and forced to join the Army and carry a rifle to fight the War on Measles

� and you must accept the risk that your child may get shot down in the defense of

the nation.

And when they begin with mandatory childhood anti-cancer vaccination, don�t be surprised

to see Congress issuing gold stars to parents whose children have fallen in the War on Cancer.

SB277 offers no �informed consent� to children for the same reason that selective

service offers no �informed consent� to soldiers drafted into the military, i.e.,

in both instances, everybody knows that death or great bodily harm is a distinct possibility.

But when America fights ideological wars, e.g., War on Terrur, War on Measles, etc.,

�informed consent� is abolished in the name of the greater good whose right to security

and comfort are paramount to an individual�s right to life.

Today�s doctors don�t care whether you consent to mandatory medical procedures any

more than NAZI doctors cared about whether the Jews consented to mandatory medical procedures

� because in both instances, �forcible� means they force it upon the individual � against

the individual�s will � regardless of whether he or she consents.

When they gassed people in the concentration camps, NAZI law required that only medical

doctors could pull the lever releasing the deadly Zyklon-B gas.

NAZI law assigned to doctors the actual task of killing because, under NAZI law, the act

of mass murder in the gas chamber was conveniently deemed to be a �medical procedure.�

More curious still, in America, we purposely avoid calling vaccination a �medical procedure�

specifically because, in order to achieve high vaccination rates, we allow any Tom,

Dick or Harry to administer vaccines.

And don�t forget, in America, you have no right to sue for vaccination-gone-wrong, so

there�s really no need to bother having a trained medical professional administer

the vaccines.

If an unskilled vaccinator pierces the wrong portion of your deltoid muscle, (upper arm),

and paralysis ensues, then � oh well! You cannot sue for �negligent needle placement�

any more than you can sue for ASD or GBS.

SB277 is for us the proverbial �handwriting on the wall� that too many Jews missed back

in NAZI Germany. And sadly, for the keenly aware among us � who see that handwriting

on the wall � where are they to go?

To which nation shall they emigrate? The sad truth is, there�s nowhere to go because

Obama�s vaccine mandate has gone global.

And when they start herding anti-vaxxers into FEMA Camps, there will be no Gen. George S.

Patton and no Third Army to come to our rescue�

Remember, it didn�t begin with gas chambers in NAZI Germany; it began when people grew

desensitized, intolerant of opposing views, mindlessly obedient to authority, and totally

willing to follow orders instead of their own conscience.

It begins when folks willingly turn a blind eye to injustice � so long as their own

paycheck continues uninterrupted.

Fascism lay not around the corner � it�s here. Right now. The American Holocaust has

begun.

No, you won�t see any swastikas. We don�t need to build Dachaus and Auschwitzes because

the mass media builds concentration camps in the mind � which are far more effective

for controlling humans and getting them to march in lockstep.

No, we won�t wake-up one morning and suddenly find ourselves in gray, wool uniforms, goose-stepping

off to work; but this is not the point.

The point is: what happens to the individual who dissents? In Nazi Germany, he or she was

physically destroyed, like Sophie Scholl, a 22-year old college student, brutally beheaded

by NAZIs. (�Denken Sie daran, die wei�e Rose.�)

Today in America, the process is more subtle; but the end always justify their means.

We all know it�s true � this is no longer the dreamland America in which we were born

or in which we once believed. And to make matters worse, there�s a population explosion,

which serves only to lessen our commitment to the sanctity of individual liberties and

human life.

Add to that, a perpetual gov�t budget crisis, with far less resources for individual rights,

and the feedback loop begins in earnest. Fascism only encourages more fascists.

Nowadays, our lawmakers deceive the public as if it were the natural prerogative of their

office.

Today, we live in a brave, new Orwellian world where the individual exists for the state

and the well-being of the greater good justifies each and every immoral act the state hurls

towards the individual.

We have reached a time in our country � similar to what life must have been like in 1930s

NAZI Germany � except we don�t realize it because American Fascism wears the smiling

disguise of liberal democracy.

The state makes you believe that you live in the best of all possible worlds � so

long as the state remains in total control over every aspect of your life.

The state dispenses life, liberty, and happiness � so long as everyone accepts that the state

is paramount to the individual, that the greater good is paramount to human conscience, and

that the state has the raw power to kill with impunity.

Too few young people today remember the Holocaust. Those who do not remember the past are condemned

to repeat it. But those of us who DO remember it are condemned to sit by helplessly and

watch everyone else repeat it.

I have a question about confidence, dealing with a lack of confidence that I was asked.

This question I'm going to read some pieces of this because it's a little bit long.

Some of you, you just like to tell me your life story.

I understand that, but it's just doesn't work too well on the video, unless we make

a whole like movie.

Here's the kind of the highlights of this.

"I also have a small question that maybe you could help me with.

I'm a freelance programmer since 2007.

Although from time to time I take a regular job where there is less demand in freelance

work.

At the moment though I am at home waiting to take my new job offer, but lately I am

bothered about the fact that before taking another project, I have a lack of confidence

if I'll be able to do it.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that everything is evolving at a really fast pace and maybe

also because I am getting older (42 now) and I am being afraid that at some point I will

not be able to do it.

For example right now, I am being asked by a company that developed website for websites

like Nike, Tommy Hilfiger and KLM so the bar becomes higher.

Also, the demand and pace at companies is more and more.

I feel like this world is getting out of hand, or maybe it's just me.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

I guess I did read the whole question.

I guess it wasn't that long.

I was just whining.

So here's the thing.

You should always be—this is a good place to be.

A lot of people are very uncomfortable with being uncomfortable.

They're uncomfortable in being in places where they don't feel 100% confident.

The thing is I did this video, I did this talk called 5 Soft Skills Every Software Developer

Should Know, and it's really—it's not about the soft skills.

What it's really about is how the only way that you grow in life is when you become uncomfortable,

when you put yourself in uncomfortable situations.

Here's the thing that you got to think about here.

You want this.

You want to live your life.

You want to always be pushing the envelope.

It's good that you've got these butterflies in your stomach.

It's good that you're 100% sure.

It's good that you're pushing the envelope and you think that you might fail.

That's not only what causes you to grow, but it also gives you that adrenaline rush.

It gives you that energy to be able to go and hit it hard.

It's really easy to get into this comfort zone where your life is just comfortable.

I did this video, again, I'll point to another one, How My life Changed Over 7 Years.

You can see it.

My life 7 years ago.

A lot of people were shocked by that.

I was surprised how popular the video was.

To me, I mean it was crazy, wonderful what happened, but it wasn't as shocking as some

of you found it.

That's because I found that most people that nothing like that ever happens that—again,

and I attack some people, "attack some people," and some people were offended by this.

I said that I still know a lot of my old co-workers.

No offense to them, but they've been doing the same thing for the last 10 or 15 years.

Their life hasn't changed hardly one bit except that they have more gray hairs, and that's

a sucky place to be.

You don't want to be there.

Okay?

So the only way to avoid that is to constantly put yourself in situations where you can be

uncomfortable, where you're going to be afraid, where you're not sure if you can make it,

where you might fail.

You might fall off a cliff and die.

That's life.

The more that you put yourself in that situation, the more that you'll rise to the challenge,

the more that you'll grow.

You might fail from time to time.

You might fail with a lowercase F. You only fail with a capital F when you give up.

You have a choice whether or not you want to fail or not.

What I say in this situation is great.

That's good.

You should feel this lack of confidence.

You should go ahead and do it anyway because—I'll tell you just about every single job I've

ever taken, I've always been unsure if I could do it.

I've always had this lack of confidence.

I wouldn't call that lack of confidence.

I would say butterflies, nervousness, or unsure of myself, but I did it anyway.

I got the job.

When I got there on the job, it caused me to work really hard.

All of a sudden, within 2 weeks, 3 weeks, I was mastering that job and I was like, "Oh,

this is easy.

I'm comfortable now.

I can do this job."

I think you probably—if you look back at your own history, in your own career experience,

you'll probably find that you have a similar experience.

Most of us do.

Most of us take jobs that we're not prepared for.

Do this.

Stretch it.

Whatever someone will hire you for—I mean if you can get a spectacular failure in your

life, just a spectacular failure, that's one of the best things you can possible experience

in your life.

It's not comfortable at the time, but man, when you shoot so far above where you're shooting

for the moon and you just fail spectacularly, you'll learn a great deal about yourself.

You'll learn a great deal about your environment and you improve.

You drastically improve.

Sometimes every once in a while, when you shoot from the moon, you hit the moon.

body so how exactly does Microsoft make its money so i wanted to go over a few

things Microsoft is going to subscriptions paste operating system

where you'll have to pay money in order to use your computer as a regular

operating system now as far as a rumor mill goes that has been a big scare but

the fact is no just simply no huh

I'll tell you why in about three seconds so second number one is Microsoft has

been planning to do this for a while now what they've done is they've made almost

all of their products subscription-based or they made their products in such a

way that they'll be able to continue making money off of what it is that

they're making money offa so one of these things is that I believe Windows

10 has integrated with onedrive and you're able to store things on a cloud

as ridiculously easy and back that up as well as well as put other information on

your cloud or your onedrive now this is this is monthly base so that means that

you don't just buy your cloud space and you keep it forever

that means that you buy it and then every month you have to renew it

otherwise you lose it which is a fantastic business model but really

sucks you want to get out of it

let's say you have a one terabyte of all of your online videos that you've

purchased and downloaded to your computer or q some or all of your photos

that you've ever taken or all of your movies that you've taken well in order

to access them in order to continue to use them

you have to and you if you put them online and you delete them up your local

machine you don't have a physical backup you have to keep paying money to

Microsoft in order to keep that from disappearing they probably I i believe

they have certain things in place where they just doesn't automatically

disappear but theoretically they could do that if they really wanted to and

just say okay you're cut

no more hum and that's one reason why Windows 10 that has a lot of integrated

apps into them one of another app that they've created is the store app where

you can very easily download apps games music movies all these and just stream

them onto your your your OS very easy a lot easier than windows XP everything is

easier than windows XP huh

so basically the minecraft is owned by microsoft has one of their biggest

influx of just everything from they also own xbox which is huge but basically

when you purchase this or you purchase a game that has developed not buy

minecraft let's see you purchase plate for ninety-nine cents i believe a

portion of that actually goes to Microsoft because the developer has to

pay to put their games on the Xbox are on the store here is not to put pay to

market their games as an xbox related game you have to pay to develop and to

get to Siesta Key sdk the development kit for Microsoft products so basically

now Microsoft is making bank off of games

not to mention cloud storage not to mention the monthly subscription for

everyone who plays madden 17 online or whatever game is that you play online uh

five bucks a game from billion people is five billion dollars how and that's

that's just gaming and storage

I'm not to mention their office suite so Microsoft has an annual office week they

are paid the $MONEY you pay to use microsoft office excel basically

everything you went to school for you have to pay for it

monthly forever believe there are ways to pay just for the application to keep

that application but obviously 65 is what they are pushing for ever wonder

what they'll keep pushing because monthly subscriptions gives them a lot

more money than one-time payments if you pay for something once and then never

have to buy it again I let's say something cost a hundred bucks and/or it

costs a small fee of one dollar per week or one dollar per month or something

like that

now that would take a hundred months or hundred weeks or whatever to to get up

to that but after that they're making more money than if they would have to

sell it outright

also they're reaching more customers if they make it monthly based because

they're able to lower the initial cost so right now I think like adobe suites

and stuff like that cause like five hundred thousand dollars for everything

which is ridiculous amount of money for software i know that they have to pay

the bills

that's why adobe is also switch to month the month that way you can it's almost

like a loan like you're loading the software you have you're renting the

software and when you stop paying for that you are unable to use anymore so

that's basically how Microsoft is making all of its money and that's why I i

don't see and none of the research that I've done indicates to me that Microsoft

is going to switch to an operating system that is a paid base

because if they did that everyone would switch to mac and linux and Microsoft

would be out of an operating system and Microsoft doesn't comply well so

microsoft office you have to use on a windows computer onedrive is kind of

useless to store information if you have no information on the computer and I

believe Apple has its own stuff that you've been to in linux operating

systems linux operating systems are fantastic their powerful they're

lightweight i would personally use it if all games first were developed in linux

huh

but because they're like seven percent of games are developed in windows and

then like thirty percent of games developed on apple products and then you

have all the art stuff which is developed an apple and until these big

corporations tank by making a stupid decision by making an operating system a

monthly subscription that you need to pay for in order to use I don't see

linux climbing up the ranks too high too quickly just yet it may if there's some

weird super future huh feature that comes out that makes all computers a

billion times faster but basically i see kind of a linear scale of linux becoming

more and more popular and the less popular more popular anyways there are

free versions for all this google provides like 15 gigabytes so one drive

provides free 5 gigabytes google provides free 15 gigabytes just get

enough free storage mediums you'll be able to store all the information that

you ever need

I've only personally ever used information to store 10 gigabytes is

like all the games all the movies and all those that you buy outright and all

the software you can download again because you bought them and you own the

rights to them so you can download them again and use them again if you really

wanted to

as far as xbox goes xbox is still going to be xbox still going to be xbox you

can go ahead and go PS archos own ego microsoft go whatever you want to do i

personally love playing on the pc because that's where all of my any games

are being built

that's where everything I love to play is is being built as far as office goes

you have google docs you have google docs you have google docs i love google

docs google google fantastic but you also have like libera office if you need

to download something and open up a word file or work offline again Google if you

download chrome and use chrome and unplug your internet you're still able

to use google docs that's ridiculous

this have all of the fancy features but if you're using google docs to make

slides spreadsheets and word documents it does everything you needed to so yeah

basically microsoft and other big companies are making bank and ourself

supportive because they've switched to monthly subscriptions that's why you see

almost every big company or every startup company that that needs money

they're moving to monthly subscription even pay patreon is monthly subscription

you tube red monthly subscription the amazon prime monthly subscription just

if you can you can say monthly subscription and just have like billions

of now is before that and that would describe a website that has been built

that has a monthly subscription where you pay a monthly fee for some type of

service car loans

car insurance renter just it's weird how time and time makes more time so you

spend your time and you read now to make money which is pretty much converted

time so you spend time you spend money which is time to have more time with

more things have very too much better too much better anyways thank you all so

Microsoft's flow and how they're making money and how pretty much everyone is

switching over to monthly there are still some things where you pay it

outright like games you pay that out right there are monthly paid games

DJI Mavic Pro - Wifi - Duration: 2:24.

I'm don't know if that video was supposed to be done.

I swear, we've tried, I've done all the tests, we've started recording backwards,

and the WiFi on the Mavic Pro it's his own, and no one can touch it.

First of, you need to download an assistant to do all this setup, from the DJI website.

You choose your drone, in my case it's the Mavic, and down here we have the download section.

It he software area we've the DJI Assistant for Windows and Mac.

Just download and install the app.

First step I is to turn on the WiFi that's right above the SD card slot.

Open the app and I don't thinks it's gonna work.

Sure you have to connect the WiFi in the computer.

Go here and find the Mavic WiFi. Where's the password?

It's here in the drone. The default password is here in this sticker. Just type it and connect.

That's it, you can't do much about it, we've searched even in the DJI forum and can't find where to change the default settings.

I recommend you to took a picture of the sticker,

print and put it the back of that picture of your mother in that last room,

that really old picture. Every mom or every grandma must have one.

Print and put it there that you're safe forever.
