Burnt Out? Don't Go On Holiday! - Duration: 5:54.
I used to work for myself.
And when I worked for myself
I used to fall in and out of love
with my business
all the time.
Like I'll be in love with it for three month
and then I'll feel burnt out,
exhausted, tired, bored
and I would be falling out of love with it
and think: 'Oh, this is too hard!'
'Maybe I've got to go and find something else...'
'Oh, really, this is just so hard!'
'Maybe I need to go on a holiday.'
And I used to go away and have
long breaks in the bush
for a week or a weekend
to really replenish
and rejuvenate myself
because it was exhausting,
exhausting me.
And then I stopped working for myself.
Now I work for spirit.
And when I work for spirit
everything is different.
I don't need to be going away on holidays,
nothing wrong with the holiday
if you want to go - go!
That's fine.
But...
And I went recently
to see my dad in Siberia,
so that was a holiday.
But it wasn't a holiday for me
running away from my business
because I need to nurture myself,
because I need to find a way
to nourish and replenish the energy.
No, I went away
for a different reason,
because I wanted to see my dad,
so there's nothing wrong with that.
If your energy
is being drained in your business
something is out of alignment.
It's an alarm bell,
like a dashboard in a car
that has a red signal
blinking.
So if you feel tired and drained
by your business
then the red signal
is blinking in your car,
and you need to know.
You need to know:
'Oh, something is out of alignment!'
From my experience,
and from my experience of working
with many many clients is that
what's out of alignment is
your Why.
Why do you do what you do?
Maybe
you've forgotten what your Why is.
Maybe
you got so caught up
in the business side of things
that you lost track
of why are you doing what you are doing.
Maybe your Why wasn't there
from the start,
maybe you just started this
as a good idea,
you have fallen into it
and you never really had the time
to think about it.
Maybe your Why has changed,
that happens a lot
with people that are work.
They usually start a business
because...
it was a fancy idea,
somebody else said they should do it...
or whatever.
Maybe they wanted to be free
and make money
and this kind of things...
Be able to go on holiday whenever they want
and things like that.
And then they started their business and...
Well, it's not like that.
It's not that simple.
And also what happened is
as they have evolved
personally and spiritually,
suddenly,
the idea of making lots of money
isn't driving them anymore.
The idea of going on holiday
to Hawaii, Maldives and things like that:
Mmm, yeah, may be nice,
but it's not the main driver
in their business anymore.
Something else
is more interesting.
And usually I find
when people are in this transition zone
that's when they lose interest
for their business.
Because the energy
that used to drive it before,
and it's usually really really dynamic
and really harsh sometimes even,
very sharp energy.
So it really is
very like high burning fuel.
Like carbs, I guess, yeah...
Carbonated sugar,
you know it's a rush,
it's exciting energy.
And so...
Once they've been running
their business for a little while,
what happens is that
that energy burns out,
and they feel:
'Oh, but maybe there is something more.'
'I'm not really that interested in...
you know making lots of money.'
That'd be nice
but that's just not the driver,
that's not a fuel that fuels their soul.
And that's where they need to start looking for:
'Okay but what's my bigger Why?'
'Why am I doing what I'm doing?'
'What am I here to do?'
And when you have the answer to that
that's your fuel
and that's a sustainable fuel.
That once you find that
you will stop going up and down,
up and down with your energy,
you'll stop falling in and out of love
with your business
as I have stopped.
I now work for spirit,
so my work is...
you know, could be called divine work,
you know...
So, it's...
not a matter of me
falling in and out of love with it,
it's like: I'm employed by spirit, right?
Would you go on a holiday
away from your work with spirit?
I don't know, some people maybe.
I don't.
I don't want to.
Once you find your Why,
your bigger, your deeper Why,
your new Why,
then that becomes a different type of fuel.
It's not the fuel that goes up and down
like this exciting energy
that goes like fireworks
and then collapse.
So, sure way of burning out.
It actually becomes more sustainable,
something that pushes you forward
and helps it to create momentum.
And it sustains you,
and actually that energy
when you tap into it
nurtures you,
so you don't get exhausted.
I hope this serves you,

Chinese Panda Silver Coins To Build My Own Economy - Duration: 3:29.
what's going on guys hey I wanted to
show you real quick some pickups I just
got from my company is N they had a lot
of these pandas that showed up and I
picked up a handful of them check them
out 2016 this is the Panda and what
makes these pandas unique each year is
they the design is different as well as
in this case they decided to go 30 grams
instead of measuring it in a full ounce
for whatever reason and that's going to
make it kind of interesting and
collectible here's the back side very
very proof like fields we've got the
Chinese writing of the year and of
course there's the Panda
gorgeous gorgeous coin I think these are
some of the most beautiful coins and
then they also happen to have this one
look at this it's different yet just as
beautiful this one happens to be from
2011 and is a full 1 ounce er so over
the difference on the back not much
different other than the year it's going
to put that back up in there I thought
these are really cool unique coins
something I like to collect is the the
government struck coins let's see if we
can get it to focus a little better
government struck and then something
unique like the pandas that have the
different grams versus ounce and then
each year the design is a little bit
different the pandas and the Cubs are
doing something different
chewing on bamboo frolicking in the
forest whatever they're doing right so
so cool the Seventeen's are available
now we'll probably pick some of those up
here shortly
okay then look at that I got some of
these now these are super duper cool I
think they're half ounces and it's the
Australian and year of the goat once you
get it to focus and realize for
the detail is amazing it's a half-ounce
ER and it commemorating the year of the
goat the back I've got three of those
and then 1/2 ounce or koala so the
Australian mint really does a nice job
with the half ounce errs when they're
available which they're not always
available
I want to depict these up just because
they were super unique very very
detail-oriented and as you can see quite
a bit smaller than say a 1 ounce ER or
yeah in this case a 30 gram er
well confusing but all in all just a
really nice pickup thanks to is n you
know they have the ability to source all
kinds of fun stuff for us and you know
coins are limited for the most part in
the exception of the American Eagle
right but most of these coins are
limited so when they pop up into the
back office or we get noticed that
certain things are in stock
I can't just try to jump on it as much
as I can and pick up when I can so this
was just something pretty unique and fun
that I got anyway just want to show that
to you have a great afternoon everyone
talk to you soon

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon Wrap Up! - Duration: 17:08.
This is the night before the readathon
and I thought we would introduce our To
Be Read piles for the readathon. I'm Danika. I
am Ron. I'm Steffi and Lola. The dogs are
crawling on us. Um, okay! So I thought I'd go
through our TBR piles and jump out of
this squishy part here. Ron and Stephanie: Yeah. Danika: This is my stack here.
Also, the dog has decided to sit on me [Ron laughing in background]
so that's just what's happening. First, I'm
gonna finish Ramona Blue. I am not
quite halfway through it. And then I have
Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. I want
to read the sequel as well, because I
loved Little Brother when I read it
like 10 years ago, but I thought I would
refresh myself on the first one. And I've
got Tomboy Survival Guide by Ivan Coyote
I loved all of their books. I have one
erotica book, and then a bunch of graphic
novels, and one more teen book, if I can
get to it, that I just got from the
library, Radio Silence, and that is my
stack! I can always do more if I run out, but
this should probably last me. [Ron exhales] Okay.
This the book I'm currently reading A. Lee
Martinez, In the Company of Ogres. I was
told that it's good to start one of
these halfway through a book, so that you
don't have to do much thinking at 5:00
a.m. So this is the book I will be
starting by finishing. The rest of my
stuff—I kind of went with a bunch of
illustrated stuff and a bunch of short
stories. I've got Little Tales of
Misogyny by Patricia Highsmith, who I've
read a lot about, and I think is super
cool, but I've never actually read anything
by, so that's exciting. The Story of the Eye.
This I've also heard a lot about. All,
terrible. I chose this specifically for
my like hour 23 book when I'm sleep
deprived. I wanted to get something just
completely messed up and weird to read
at the end, and this was recommended by a
lot of people. Much like Stephanie, I'm
also reading Howl's Moving Castle and
The Last Hero. Again, both illustrated,
both quick reads, and both books I've
been wanting to get to for a while. I've
got Stardust, also illustrated. And then
I've got myself a little stack of horror
graphic novels. I've been really wanting
to catch up on some graphic novels. It
seems like a good opportunity. And my
favorite—[Danika's stifled laughing in background] My favorite [laughing] thing
tomorrow is—I have a Ralph Steadman
illustrated copy of Animal Farm, and I am
obsessed with Ralph Steadman. Tou
couldn't get much timelier when it
comes to reading Orwell.
So, yeah, I'll be wrapping it up with that.
Hi. I'm not going to go through all of
these, because as we have just named it, a
Stephanie stack would take a solid 20
minutes to talk about why I love all of
them. Say Ron and I have some shared
interests this fine day coming up. We have
different editions, though, so maybe it'll be fun
to compare How'l Moving Castle and The Last
Hero. By two of my favorite children's and
fantasy authors! My first book I'll be
starting with is Purple Hibiscus. I've
never actually read a full Adichie book
before, and so I thought I'd start with
her first one, which is also the favorite
of a dear friend of mine.
I'm halfway through that, will finish that.
Other highlights are this book that at
our store has been requested by
approximately 15 billion people [Danika snorts in laughter in background] So I
really want to see what all the fuss is
about. It's my only book of poetry,
shout-out to a dear friend of mine, Zoe,
she's always trying to get me to read more. This
Shirley Jackson, of course, and The
Lottery will be my creepy 23rd hour of
reading, perhaps accompanied by Hound
of the Baskervilles, so I have my horror
books in for today. And the only other
one that I really think is a standout
mention is Fortunately the Milk. This
will be my getting myself excited as a
little bit of a boost. Neil Gaiman's
hilarious trip of father going and
fighting dinosaurs to buy milk for his
kids, also Illustrated. So I will consider
myself well accomplished if I get through
these, and these are backups if I get
tired of any of the other. I had to get a shot of the
snacks table. We have a whole array
here. This is my stuff. Got a whole vegan
cheese plate buried in there. And then
Ron's snacking edge over here, and
Stephanie's over here. And this is the, uh,
pre-readathon meal [Danika and Stephanie laughing] So I /think/ that
/should/ be about to cover it [more laughing].
So, it's 9:00 a.m., readathon hour 4, and I am finished
my first book: Ramona Blue by Julie
Murphy. Tt's really good! I liked it. I'm
going to have a lot to say in my review.
I'll do a Lesbrary review with all
my thoughts. My snack so far: I had a
frappuccino,
I had a scone from Whole Foods—the vegan
chocolate chip scone, which I love. Some
fruit. Trying to keep it light. So far,
it's great! I feel very awake, even though
I did not get a lot of sleep last night.
So, we'll see how long that lasts,
but so far feeling good.
Just—I can just start? [Danika:] Yeah. [Ron:] Okay.
Hey! It's, uh, just after 9 o'clock. I am
currently alternating between salty and
sweet. For sweet, I have A. Lee Martinez [Danika chuckling]
who is known as the American Terry
Pratchett, and I also have this mixture
of sea-salt-and-chocolate--covered
pretzel bites, honey-roasted peanuts—Oh,
and dark-chocolate-covered almonds. For
the salty, I have this bag of crunchy
cheezies, which I have cut with jalapeno
cheddar crunchy cheezies. It also has
ale and cheddar pretzel bites and honey
mustard pretzel bites. [Danika laughing at the dog] And for my salty
read, I have actual Terry Pratchett [Danika laughs] which
I'm going to be starting right now.
So, good morning! Still awake, though I'm
finding it hard to believe it. So I'm not as
much of a connoisseur snacker as Ron. I'm
a more simple soul, so I have my mocha
from Starbucks, which I intend to nurse
for as long as humanly possible. This
morning I decided to stop with Purple
Hibiscus because I was getting me down,
and then went instead to my break into
romance genre, bodice ripper Loretta
Chase, which is delightful and hilarious:
perfect for my morning mood. And to
maintain the sense of humor, I am going
to start my beloved Illustrated copy of
Last Hero. alongside with Ron. I'm looking
forward to seeing if the illustrations
are the same. I'm very excited. I can't
wait to see what happens in here. So yeah,
that's probably in the next couple of hours.
Really looking forward to it and
breaking open the Oreos in
approximately 45 minutes. I'm just taking a
break to make some snacks. Well, I thought
I was making smoked gouda on rosemary
and olive oil Triscuits. I love Triscuits,
as does everyone that I know of.
Unfortunately, what I thought to be
smoked gouda has turned out to be
smoke-flavored Gouda. Which is why you probably
shouldn't buy
artisan cheeses at Walmart. I'm still
pretty excited. I tried one. It was fine.
Smells a little different, I guess, than
you're used to. But I think one of the most
strategic things you can do during a
readathon is try to keep your energy
level up without just destroying your
stomach with things like chocolate and
coffee and heavy foods and stuff, so.
We'll see how it goes! And that's where I'm at right now.
Oh, yeah! Also, reading some books!
I'm just wrapping up my
illustrated Terry Pratchett. It is amazing.
After reading sort of a Terry Pratchett—
I don't want to call him a Terry Pratchett
knockoff, because he's really good, but
after reading a Terry Pratchett readalike,
it's really exciting to read an
actual Terry Pratchett. Reading's going
great, the day so far has just been
awesome, and, yeah, excited for more
snacking and reading. I too, like Ron,
am still on The Last Hero, and it's just [heavenly choir sound]
It makes me wish I had more Terry Pratchett to read.
I had a bit of a break with Rhyme Stew,
Roald Dahl's book of dirty poetry. It—
Which is hilarious, and whimsical, and
very crazy Lewis Carroll-esque, so I'm saving the
rest of that for later, but in the meantime,
I have my one healthy dinner: rice with
broccoli, other veggies, and chicken, which
I'm really looking forward to. Accompanied by,
because we're oh so elegant, ginger and
lemongrass. Saving the rest of my
healthy stuff for later I need to wait
until I'm done Pratchett to do the mangos
because they take so freakin' forever to
cut up. But, yeah, loving the readathon so far!
So, we just finished hour 8, it's a third
of the way through the readathon, I think
we're all still feeling really good,
reading strong! I am most of the way
through The Tomboy Survival Guide by
Ivan Coyote, and this is the first Ivan
Coyote book I've read in a long time, and
they're one of my favorite authors, and I
am just loving it! I kind of forgot how
much I missed their writing? It's just so great.
It's also time for my first real
meal of the day. I have this little vegan
cheese platter here that is not very
pretty, but it's going to be super tasty.
I've got this local... salsa? that hopefully
will be a good addition, but I haven't
tried it yet.
I have this smoked farmhouse vegan cheese,
which is super expensive, and also
amazing and delicious, and then some
smoked tofu and this stuff, which is like
a cream cheese. And I am really looking
forward to it, so I'm going to dig in now,
and we'll see you four hours from now!
So, it is now five o'clock, and I definitely
feel like I've reached the halfway mark. I, for
one, am super tired. I didn't sleep very
well last night,
and it's definitely catching up with me.
I read two of these Library Wars manga,
which were fun and fluffy, and then I am
reading this ridiculous erotica book,
which I probably won't rate very highly.
And, yeah, I will probably take a nap,
because I am very sleepy. And hopefully I
can last another 12 hours. [Stephanie:] So I folded
about 45 minutes ago and recognized my
eyes need for a little... you know... time off. But
I'm very happy so far. Finished my first
book. Got through one of probably my
favorite reads so far, the illustrated
Last Hero, which brought me so much joy.
With that one, afterwards, Danika's
excellent advice was to go for something
a little bit serious, so I also finally
finished a book I started a while ago:
The wonderful Between the World and Me,
and decided to follow up reading this
new Rebecca Solnit book that I thought would
be a nice kind of continuation from that
Ta-Nehisi Coates, and as amazing as it is,
I think I'm going to put it away and
finish it another day, and go with some
fiction instead, because it's a little bit
heavy for my eyes to be handling right now, but I
still well recommend it! I will finish
this. Perhaps, next week. Yeah, I think I'm
going to go back to my Roald Dahl Rhyme
Stew Book, but so far I'm very happy with my
progress.
It is... Hour 13? It's hour 13, we just did 12
hours, so. [clears throat] It is hour 13. [Danika and Ron laughing] Uh, I'm just wrapping
up the second volume of the Wicked
and the Divine. I actually had to take a
pit stop and go read the synopsis of the
first volume, because there's a lot going
on in this series, but it is awesome. So
I'm really digging it. I also slammed a
big packet of
Vega One, which it's absolutely
disgusting to drink, but i just feel
completely awake and full of energy, so
yeah, things are rolling along well. I'm
going to wrap this up, and I'm going to
go back to my intermediary book that I'm
kind of reading a couple chapters of
between all my other books, which is the
A. Lee Martinez that I've been working on.
Things are going great, snacking is good,
books are good, energy levels are good. No
naps.
I still feel solid, and I'm kinda hoping
I'm going to make it 24 hours. I've never
done it even close, but I'm gonna try
this time.
So this is our 9:00 p.m., hour 16
snack, uh, bumbleberry pie. Very excited to
dig in. So, with bumbleberry pie
heartening me up, I've made a lot of
progress on my latest book, Howl's Moving
Castle, and I'm just probably going to
keep it to this, because I really want to
finish it before I need my other nap.
with only, I'd like to say, I also managed to
get through the illustrated edition of A
Monster Calls and was weeping by the
end, practically. Definitely on the inside.
Oreos helped me get over that, and
so I decided to keep on with my kids'
thread, so, gonna go back to that! [laughs]
Hey it's, uh, hour...
[Danika laughs and says "16"] 16—or, no, we finished 16 hours, [Danika: yeah] So we're hour 17.
[Danika: yes] It's hour 17. I gotta be
honest I'm getting a little bit tired.
I'm starting to feel a little bit sleepy.
I don't know if I'm supposed to say this,
but I'm the only one of the three of us
who didn't take a nap today. [Danika laughing] Just putting
that out there. Danika, you can edit that out.
Feeling a little sleepy. My goal right
now is I want to wrap this guy up, I have
100 pages left. I've got a book of short
stories by Patricia Highsmith that I really
wanted to get to, and, also, several folk,
including a few of the good people at
Book Riot, recommended I read Wytches, the
graphic novel, so I really want to get
that done today, too.
If I get all that done, honestly, I'm
calling it a success. I'm gonna try to
stay awake for 24 hours... starting to feel
a little less confident? [Danika laughs] Starting to
feel a little less likely, uh, but yeah. Like
I said, as long as I get everything read
that I really wanted to read, then I'm
totally happy. And I've definitely
already hit my snack quota for the day.
So, it's all just gravy—some of it,
literally—from here on out.
So, it's 9 p.m.. Just
finished hour 16, and I'm feeling
good. I'm feeling more energetic than I
was. I finally finished 13 Hours, which is
a lesbian erotica book that is about
being trapped in an elevator for 13
hours, which was both worse and better
than I expected.
Mostly, it was kind of a write-off
because it is super anti sex work and
very, like, shaming people for sex work
and for stripping and it's... not—not good.
So this is what I've finished so far. Just
over 700 pages and two manga volumes.
I was thinking that it was the 3/4 mark,
but I'm just really bad at math, and it's
the 2/3 mark, and I can't believe
there's 8 hours left of this. Not sure
I'm going to make it that whole time, but
we'll see. I'm ready to have some pie and, uh,
see how long I can make it!
[Quietly] So it is 1 a.m., hour 20 of the readathon. I finished
Hellcat vol 1, which I really enjoyed,
but for some reason took me 2 hours to
read? Which seems like a long time for
such a short graphic novel. And then I
started rereading Little Brother, because
I wanted to read Little Brother and then
read Homeland, which I've never read
before, but I didn't remember from when I
read it as a teenager that Little
Brother starts, within 20 pages, has a
bunch of transphobic slurs and just lots
of hatred of homeless people, and I
just realized I didn't want to read it,
and that I didn't want to read the
sequel either. So I switched to Patrick
Ness, and now I reading The Rest of Us
Just Live Here, which I'm really enjoying
so far. And even though it's 1 a.m.
and hour 20 just finished, I am actually
feeling pretty good! I feel like I could
make it the full 24 hours. We'll see how
long Ron lasts.
So, I'm fading. I think
I'm going to try for one more book, but
I'm going to have a little bit more sleep
first. I was really pleased—I finished
Howl's Moving Castle, which is just as
excellent as, as I thought, and I got through
Rupi Kaur's book of poetry, which was also
delightful. Took a lot of heart out of me.
So I'm going to give myself
another hour nap. And then I think I'm
just going to finish off the night in the
last couple hours with Ms Shirley Jackson.
We'll see if I get through it.
Just pushing through the last little bit
of my on-again off-again book. I finished
my book of short stories I wanted to do,
so all I've got left on my TBR is one
graphic novel and one weird... 1920s book
of just, like, oddball erotica that I chose
for whatever reason. I'm feeling pretty
confident. I think I'm gonna make it to—I,
I think I'm gonna do the whole 24. I'm
pretty close to dip it into my Pepsi,
which is always a baaad sign [both laugh] but we'll see how
it goes.
Anyway, feeling good right now.
Our readathon buddies are passed out, though.
So, it's 4 a.m., we are just entering the 24
hour, and I am really having a lot of
trouble... keeping my eyes open. Steph is long
since fallen asleep. Me and Ron are
trying to muscle through to the very end.
I'm reading this kid's graphic novel that
I saw at the library and picked up as a quick readathon
read, but even this is, like, a little
bit challenging for how out of it I am
right now. I finished The Rest of Us Just
Live Here by Patrick Ness, which I liked.
I—I didn't totally love, but I thought it was okay.
And... yeah, I'm really looking forward to
sleep. Can't wait to have sleep soon. So,
yeah. We're probably gonna finish the
night listening to an audiobook and
trying not to fall asleep to it.
[Ron yawns, Danika laughs] [Danika: Alright, whever you're ready.] So it's just after 4, so
we have just just under an hour left. I'm
probably just gonna say most of the same
things that Danika said. Super
tired, had an awesome day.
Tons of good snacks, tons of good books.
Just gonna switch over to an audiobook
now. I'll probably wake up tomorrow not
knowing if I made it the whole 24 hours
or not, because I'll probably pass out
at some point in the next little while
listening to the audiobook. Hopefully I'm
still up at five and I'll pop back up
and do
a quick last update, but we'll see.

The Basement Tapes Ed Kramer Editel Generics part 2 - Duration: 1:39.
Last week I promised you psychedelics, today I deliver on that…it's 1984 at Editel
Animation Services in Hollywood.
On days without clients we needed something to do so we made generic backgrounds that
could be bundled into packages and sold to smaller market stations.
Since Roy Weinstock and I knew Scanimate, it was fun to use System 4 to do all those
analog effects, but now with digitally perfect oscillators.
Here's a low-frequency oscillator moving slowly in the vertical direction, ramping
through the colors of the video spectrum, which were set exactly using a digital vectorscope.
Another low-frequency oscillator with rotation was generating bars of "blanking" causing
the colors to be turned off whenever they intersected the silver bars.
We could make tweaks and record whatever we thought looked cool, these were all probably
all done in one afternoon.
Now turn off my sound, crank your own tunes, watch it again and enjoy!

Top 10 Largest Cities in India - Duration: 5:51.
Top 10 Largest Cities in India
As the world's second most highly populated country after China, it's not surprising
that India has many mega-cities within its borders, each with its own special charms
and challenges and teeming with many, many inhabitants.
Here are the ten most populous cities in India according to the most recent census of 2011.
10.
Jaipur
Popular with tourists, Jaipur is a famous city and is the capital of India's largest
state, Rajasthan.
With a population of just over 3 million inhabitants, it's a bustling and colourful city with
a thriving handicrafts industry.
Tourism is an important revenue source, and Jaipur has several annual festivals such as
its Elephant Festival and Kite Festival, both of which are major attractions for locals
and tourists alike.
9.
Pune
Pune, in the state of Maharashtra, scrapes in just ahead of Jaipur with a population
of 3.1 million.
It's a dynamic city with many motor manufacturing plants belonging to the big Indian vehicle
manufacturers, and it also has an important information technology industry.
Pune is known for its strong links with several spiritual movements.
The acclaimed Indian spiritual master Mehar Baba was born here, and the Osho International
Meditation Resort is an important centre of spiritual development.
8.
Surat
Surat in Gujarat state has a population in excess of 4.4 million.
It's a fast growing city with a population that has almost doubled in the last 15 years.
At the forefront of Indian information technology and Internet development, Surat has been earmarked
to be become a completely interconnected 'smart' city.
Surat's more traditional claims to fame are its highly acclaimed diamond polishing
indudtry as well as the production of high quality silk.
7.
Kolkata
Formerly known as Calcutta, Kolkata in the state of West Bengal has 4,4 million inhabitants
– just slightly more than Surat, which will probably overtake it soon if it hasn't already.
It is located in the Ganges Delta in West Bengal, and heavy industries, chemical and
pharmaceutical industries are well established here.
That may explain Kolkata's dubious honour of being one of India's most dangerously
polluted cities.
6.
Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat has 5.5 million inhabitants.
This city is famous as the location of the start of India's independence movement.
Mahatma Gandhi founded two ashrams here that became centres of India's historic movement
away from British control.
Ahmedabad is also known for celebrating local and national festivals throughout the year
with great enthusiasm.
5.
Hyderabad
Formerly an important diamond and pearl trading centre, Hyderabad in Telangana state is a
city of 6.7 million people.
Surrounded by lakes and forested areas, the city is home to important wildlife conservation
centres, and outside of the city there's an abundance of wildlife in national parks.
Despite more recent industrialisation, Hyderabad still has plenty of old world charm with many
centuries-old bazaars still doing a roaring trade.
4.
Chennai
Chennai is a coastal city in Tamil Nadu state with a population of 7 million.
It's one of India's most touristed cities thanks to its great beaches and exotic temples.
Another attraction of Chennai is that it's a highly cultural city and is home to many
museums as well as to training centres and performances of Indian classical and traditional
music.
3.
Bangalore
Bangalore, or Bengaluru to give it its official name, is a city in the state of Kernataka.
It has 8.4 million inhabitants and is often nicknamed India's Silicon Valley due to
the intensity of the information technology research and development that goes on here.
It's also nicknamed India's rock music capital due to it's importance as a venue
for International music concerts.
2.
Delhi
The capital city of India, Delhi has a population of just over 11 million and lies within a
humid subtropical region of the country.
Inhabited since the 6th century BC, it's a busy industrial city that deserves its label
as India's most polluted city.
The city has several notable architectural attractions such as Lotus Temple, a beautiful,
flower-shaped temple of the Baha'i faith, Humayun's Tomb, Connaught Place and Akshardham
Temple.
Delhi is also noted for its high-quality golden thread embroidery and other handicrafts at
famous markets, such as Chandni Chowk Market.
1.
Mumbai
Formerly known as Bombay, Mumbai, a coastal city in the state of Maharashtra, has an incredible
12.4 million inhabitants, and in addition to being India's most populated city, Mumbai
is also one of the world's most populated urban areas.
It's considered to be India's financial centre and, despite, many slum areas, Mumbai
is the country's richest city, with more millionaires and billionaires living here
than in any other part of India.

Janette Sadik Khan - O primeiro passo do urbanista é andar pela cidade - Duration: 1:23.
My education in urbanism really started
on the streets and sidewalks of New York City.
I walked the city with my mom, from a very early age.
And my mom was always telling me
to look up, look up and see the city.
I get so involved in the conversation that I was just
looking at her, and not looking at the streets.
And she always pointed out the ballet that was happening
on the streets of New York City. And
New Yorkers are famous for not really looking at anything.
And trying to get around in a New York minute.
So, just as I got familiar with the beauty of the urban buildings,
the architecture of New York City, so too, you can see actually
what's really happening on the ground, and on the streets.
And it all started then.
And my mom lived in Greenwich Village,
and so we spent lots of time talking about Robert Moses, and Jane Jacobs,
and some of the luminaries in New York City's history
that really transformed our streets. So,
it all really started with my mom on the streets of New York.
