Unemployment is related to domestic violence
The main objective of this research is to analyze
the effect of sociodemographic characteristics
of the woman and her husband
and the probability of suffering domestic violence.
In particular, the effect of work status.
The most egalitarian families, those where both partners do work,
present a lower risk of suffering domestic violence.
This research has political implications.
For long-term policies, the main conclusion is
that gender equality policies should be promoted
within the home.
In the short term, prevention policies should be promoted
mainly in the most vulnerable families.
In the future we would like to address the consequences
of gender violence in the long term
in questions such as women's health,
as well as the issue of intergenerational transmission
of violence and other values of equality.
