How To Mitigate Risks and Understand Compliance in Brazil - Duration: 3:20.

What are the essential practices for an effective compliance program?

The effective compliance program is the one that solves the company's problem.

That will detect which process is missing and which is failing.

You are not going to solve the problem of effective compliance simply with a cosmetic compliance

the one with negative certificate of the company's name

You must be more specific.

You have to say "I want to know who the partners are",

if the partners exist – sometimes he already died 20 years ago, but still is in the society.

Or the partner doesn't have economic capacity: he is a very simple person.

How are you going to do that? Through a compliance more adjusted to the reality of the company.

It does not have to be expensive or complex, but you need to act with a more customized compliance.

So you have to investigate more.

You have to create mechanisms that are more structured to fit your market, without creating a commercial problem.

If you ask for many documents your customer will prefer not to sell to you.

Besides the anti-corruption law, what has the Brazilian government done to prevent illegal practices in companies?

Besides the anti-corruption law, the most valuable thing that the government has done is not intervene.

The government should not intervene in an investigation of a corruption process.

It should not restrict an investigative activity.

It should not privilege any investigated.

The best way to act is not intervening and let the institutions account for it.

We have strong institutions.

We have the judiciary, the public ministry and the federal police.

These organizations have absolutely capable people to deal with the issue of corruption.

To comply with the law. To bring corrupt people to trial.

How did the anti-corruption law in Brazil affected foreign companies operating in the country?

The anti-corruption law in Brazil was based in the American model.

It was based in the international model and allowed Brazil to conclude cooperation agreements.

More than that, allowed Brazil to act coordinated with international authorities,

not only to arrest corrupt agents, but also to enforce the law.

Something we might add to this is that, thanks to American systems,

thanks to US rules, Brazil and international companies have come to respect the anti-corruption law more,

because they know that if they do not comply with the anti-corruption law,

they will have problems in other markets.

Especially in the American market, which is very expensive and appreciated by international companies.

So they know that if they have problems in Brazil, they will probably have problems in the US.

Difesa da attacchi standard in strada (Tutorial) | Common street attacks defense (SUB ENG) - Duration: 3:27.

Hi to everyone, in this tutorial we will see how to counterattack the most common aggression techniques.

we talk about very rudimental attacks I call "swimming like".

the "swimming" can come from high ... from the side (series of slaps).... and frontal (series of punches).

Let's start with swimming coming from above.

very simple counterattack. I block with one arm and counter with a jab to the nose.

.... from other side...

if i can't hit with a jab, I can use an hammer punch.

Attacks from the side (slaps) is the same. I have only to block and punch at the same time.

At the last, we see the defense from frontal swimming (punches to the face).

In this case we have to be flexible. When he comes ahead, we go out and start to hit to his head.

so, the fundamental movement is the lateral escape.

hope you enjoy the vid, leave me a like and SUBSCRIBE to my channel. See you next time. Good training.

Dragon Ball Z full color review tome 1 saga majin buu - Duration: 5:38.

Very good day saiyans the world welcome a new review Monday

in which good, because I have asked to analyze the full colors

okay? the saga of bu.

I think they will be about 6 in total. With these and

would have been completed since then the

Saga Raditz, ie,

Z entire whole, and therefore I

for May, if I remember correctly, they are already announced

the full colors of the saga

Well, when Goku is tiny.

Japan already came out a year ago and well,

thanks to Planet Comic we will have from May.

We tomes as Goku from

because from the beginning okay? then we would have all that is Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z

in full colors right? All version

color that is an issue I recommend it enough.

Well, for those who do not know that

It is this issue, because, as I said, is an issue that is,

color all right? They are formatted

little children, do not worry you now see. They are smaller than

editing

Well, the red volumes that you may know

that issue I'm talking about right? So

Well, they are quite complete

are about 12 euros if I remember correctly, each volume.

I know it's a little more expensive than the red tome

but

if you want to see color because obviously

So as to press it is more expensive and

quite expensive tome okay?

Places to buy it,

from any bookstore tengais for your area

Amazon has quite reasonable prices.

Being a manga okay? there is no

price competition, ie, which it is stipulated

by the publisher, worth this money and it can cost you

penny up, penny down but

it will be the same price right? So

querais where it is pretty good.

So good, we will analyze a little bit inside the volume.

Go for it.

Well guys because here you are seeing the cover of Volume 1 of the series of Bu.

Agree? where we have to Son Gohan with his suit

Part of the fund here right?

that is, here we have it here in Super Saiyan and costume so that no

I recognize

media right? especially high school

because here it begins to go to school right?

The city of Mr. Satan.

Here as the number 1 and here

Comic Planet because that is being edited in Spain.

On the back because we have to Videl,

Goten and Gohan are and Well

little to say about the story because

It is that I think it's already super said everything already know perfectly

Bu saga. Well, we would have here an index

ranging from Chapter 1, the Institute

Satan City, and chapter 16 the incredible tenacity

Mr. Satan.

Agree? These would be the chapters are included. And good,

here portadilla Son Gohan as cloud Kinton

when he goes to his first day of school.

As're seeing, the peculiarity of these volumes, is that they are

in color

agree?

And they are as the

version and the Japanese version, ie,

for example, they came the full colors in America

which they are very very large,

If that level drawings looks better, but then level,

to handle, it is more

expensive right? Because here already know that each saga

It has a different color, and therefore specifically the saga

Bu is no color rosa? thus simulating a bit

what is the monster Majin Buu.

Well, here we have the first adventure, I'll see if

wide a little bit to see him better.

Agree? The

Venturas first to what he encounters

Gohan are in school because

You know that Son Gohan, the first

Always years he is studying at home with a tutor

and concerned now, because you have to relate

human ordinary

and well, they go with their adventures

the Great Saiyaman

and so

Well begins

Videl caught him and tells him

You must participate in the martial arts tournament

so that does not reveal the secret of who he really is.

And then oddly as Goku

decides hereafter, he has a permit to return

one day the earth, and decides

also present and this is how empizan adventures

Buu saga in which as everyone will have

to see Goku after the death of Cell that has already passed

long time. Goku know

his second son for the first time

and so

They start a little quite chaotic tournament

and Mr. Satan is still there making war

with their

adventures and lies

but hey, they do pretty funny what the

manga itself. And Well

We end up with that

as the final, at the Battle of Goten and Trunks

the children's tournament, which this time

there are children's tournament and the winner

because you have to

Mr confront the great Satan.

And there it just end right?

Well, because that's all, I hope you liked the review

and see you in the next video. See you soon.

Urban Legends: Directions (Episode 9) - Duration: 3:08.

DIRECTIONS

The guy who was Tarzan's cousin's older brother,

and who hadn't seen Zsozsó for seventy-thousand years,

he picked me up once when I was hitchhiking.

He was Zsozsó's second cousin,

and although they hadn't seen each other for seventy-thousand years

he invited him to his wedding…,

so he had to go.

So a family I'd never met

took me to a wedding at the end of the world.

We just kept driving and driving,

left and right, and when we'd gone so far

it was getting suspicious we stopped to ask

if we were headed in the right direction.

Good afternoon, excuse me,

which way is Keszi?

We are on our way to a wedding,

and we're already late.

Ah, I know, don't worry!

You can see on this old map

that I am István Báthory.

A jack of all trades, but I've retired.

This woman is my wife.

She used to be taller,

but then she was hit by osteoporosis.

But when it rains,

you can take shelter under her.

But we're having a drought,

and in a drought,

crying babies like yours are a blessing,

because we can use them to water the garden.

And this is Fleece, our deer.

Very wild!

We found her by the side of the road.

I figured we'd eat her.

We put her in the car,

but by the time we got back, she was better.

She must have gotten a good sleep, I thought.

And

who could eat a healthy, sleeping animal?

The children named her Fleece,

because of her coat.

What were you asking about?

Oh yes, Keszi!

Well, there are two parallel streets,

and parallels intersect at infinity,

you know, and continue in an X.

Oh, answer it,

don't bother with me!

The roads are nice around here,

and the landscape is beautiful.

Oh, and there's a painter who lives here too!

Deer used to have fangs, you know!

Before her, we had a goose, nice and fat.

It was ferocious too!

And as big as a motorbike,

and sounded like an engine,

pram pram pram pram pru pru pr.

But it made off to Scandinavia with a hamster.

We saw them on TV, right mama!?

I'm sorry, we're in a hurry!

Oh, go this way,

I'll show you on the map,

500 meters in this direction, as the bird flies.

Towards Mordor.

But I could show you a shorter route!

Notes on "Just Another Love Poem" - Duration: 1:28.

The poem "Just Another Love Poem" is basically a catharsis directed toward a beloved.

The plot features several hyperboles.

The first hyperbole is that I don't need to listen to music because you are music, your eyerolls are violins,

and your flirtations are literally piano-playing.

The second hyperbole is that the tide goes across the beach just as wide as I open up,

and the grains of sand originated from my rock-hard heart that you scattered across the shores.

Third, we row on a clock across the sea of time, imagining an island where we could love a second time.

For the rest of the poem, I am heartbroken by your uncertainty - weighing your wants

as I boldly declare that my heart outweighs all the pounds.

You don't care, preferring instead to follow the sea as is conventional.

My broken heart crashes and then breaks through the floor that it crashed upon, going deeper in despair

and ending up falling in love again.

The grass blades on the ground give me wings to fly again.

Higher I go to loving each other everlastingly

as the sun and moon move across one another, so do we.

The poem circles back to the beginning assertion that I don't need to hear the poem/expression.

Instead of continuing the poem/catharsis, I ask you straight-up, "Why don't we?"

5 WWE Wrestlers Who Need to Be More Careful in the Ring - Duration: 3:26.

There are some wrestlers that are noticeable more intense during a match up than others.

Some of these wrestlers can be dangerous and cause injuries to others, and some of these

wrestlers aren't so safe to work with because of how injury prone they might be.

My name is John, and these are 5 WWE Wrestlers Who NEED to Be More Careful in the Ring.

Seth Rollins does not have a very good track record when it comes to being a safe worker

in the WWE.

He broke John Cena's nose and caused him to miss a few weeks, he retired Sting at Night

of Champions and injured Finn Balor the night he won the Universal championship.

On top of that, Rollins has suffered two injuries to his knee, so Seth is more than likely going

to need to tone down his intensity in the ring to compensate for the mishaps that could

take place.

Otherwise, you could have more main event talent being put on the shelf thanks to the

architect.

Sasha Banks is a 3 time Raw women's champion and is one of the best female performers in

WWE history.

Aside from all of this, Sasha does not seem to take her safety into account when it comes

to putting on a match.

Her suicide dives in particular come to mind, as she gets very close to landing straight

on her head after she folds up like an accordion on the ground.

During her match against Charlotte at SummerSlam, Charlotte was given a ton of flack backstage

for dropping Banks on her neck from the top rope, as this caused her to need time away

to heal her injuries stemming from her neck and back.

Sheamus is one big, tough Irishman.

He has been wrestling for over 15 years and has been known to be a pretty stiff worker

in the ring.

Most recently, Sheamus kicked Jeff Hardy in the face, causing him to have one of his teeth

knocked out while he was still on the ground.

Many people were enraged by this as Sheamus did the same thing to Daniel Bryan, except

this kick caused a concussion, and too much head trauma was the reason for Bryan's retirement.

Sheamus received a ton of heat backstage from what he did to Daniel Bryan, as it caused

Bryan to have to be pulled from the European tour that year.

Neville, being formerly known as the man that gravity forgot, has been recently performing

like a mad man on 205 Live now that he is the King of the Cruiserweights.

Being a bigger man in the cruiserweight division, Neville no longer has to take as much risk

when it comes to flying high, as his opponents can do majority of the aerial maneuvers, while

Neville can focus on showing off his feats of physical strength.

Regardless, he still goes hard in the ring, and this is a great position to keep Neville

in to prevent anymore injuries down the line.

One of the main event level talents that Seth Rollins injured; Finn Balor on his first match

back on live television was concussed by Jinder Mahal.

I can't imagine how much of a scare this was for a company having one of your top stars

and former world champions return from injury to nearly be sidelined again.

Balor is already 35 years old and has been in tons of hard hitting matches from his time

spent in Japan, so who knows how much more Balor's body can take performing at this

level?

One thing is apparent, WWE need to do a better job of making sure that their top tier stars,

especially one's they are still trying to push, are not going too hard in the ring.

And these were 5 WWE Wrestlers Who NEED to Be More Careful in the Ring.

I hope you're all having a great day; thank you so much for watching Wrestling Hub, and

I'll see you later with more wrestling videos.

The Battle of Carrhae (53 B.C.E.) - Duration: 19:54.

Three basic facts defined Marcus Licinius Crassus life.

First, he was rich.

A billionaire, by our standards.

Second, he used that wealth to support great politicians.

I've talked before about how he was secretly funneling money to Clodius behind the scenes,

but before that he did the same thing with Caesar, and other populists before him.

Third, Crassus's entire career was marked by his rivalry with Pompey.

It started decades earlier, when Pompey took credit for a war that Crassus had won, and

over the years the grievances piled up.

And yet, time and time again, circumstance forced the two men to work together.

That brings us to their second consulship together, in 55 B.C.E.

Late in the year, Crassus was getting ready to leave Rome and head to Syria, for his 5-year

term as governor.

It was an open secret that once Crassus got to Syria, he intended to go to war against

the Parthians.

On the day of his departure, a crowd confronted him, lead by a Tribune of the Plebs.

The Tribune tried to use his Veto to stop Crassus from leaving the city, but another

Tribune stepped forward and Veto'd his Veto.

The crowd blocked his way, and accused him of going to war for his own personal greed.

They refused to let Crassus pass until Pompey showed up and calmed everyone down.

I'm sure Crassus found it super annoying that it was Pompey who had to rescue him.

One more grievance!

Add it to the list!

Crassus arrived in Syria early, and started to get everything ready for his unprovoked

war against the Parthian Empire.

In the spring, Crassus took command of his legions, and marched east.

His son Publius had come from Gaul with some Gallic cavalry, and was now serving as Crassus's

cavalry commander.

The army reached the Euphrates river, which marked the boarder between Roman Syria and

Parthian Mesopotamia.

He crossed the river, and just like that, Crassus had started a war with the Parthians.

Many of the nearby settlements had sizable Greek populations, and were reasonably friendly

towards Rome.

As Crassus approached with his army, many of them felt comfortable surrendering to the

Romans without a fight.

But it wasn't always so easy.

One city named Zenodotium sent a friendly message to Crassus asking for a Roman garrison.

Crassus sent 100 men, basically a Roman Century, to occupy the city.

When the Romans arrived, the locals ambushed them, and had them arrested.

Later, the entire Century was executed.

When Crassus discovered what happened, he showed up with his entire army.

He stormed the city, and sold the its inhabitants into slavery.

For the rest of the summer, he marched all over Mesopotamia, capturing settlements, and

installing Roman garrisons.

At the end of the season, he turned his army around and marched back to Syria.

His campaign was a success.

He left 8,000 Roman soldiers behind, scattered throughout Mesopotamia in small garrisons,

guarding his new conquests.

But one thing should have been bothering him.

So far, the Parthians had not responded.

That winter, the King of Armenia, who was an ally to Rome, came to see Crassus.

The King asked Crassus to consider invading through Armenia, rather than through Mesopotamia.

He said that going through the mountains would give the Roman infantry a huge advantage against

the Parthian cavalry.

If he agreed, the King promised to provide Crassus with an additional 30,000 infantry

and 16,000 cavalry, which would basically double the size of his army.

This isn't explicitly said in our sources, but I'm sure that in return, the Armenian

King wanted a slice of Crassus's conquests.

Crassus thought about it, but in the end he refused.

His objective was to annex Mesopotamia, and so far, that was going pretty well.

Our ancient sources all think that this was a stupid decision, and I can't say I disagree.

46,000 Armenians is a lot of Armenians.

Nevertheless, the Armenian King returned home, and the next year, Crassus crossed the Euphrates

again with 43,000 men.

So far Crassus had made an effort to stay close to the Euphrates river, but one day,

Crassus's scouts came across the signs of an army, marching away from the river, into

the desert.

This must be the Parthian response.

Some of Crassus's subordinates advised him to pull back into one of his garrisoned towns

and gather some intelligence on this mystery army, but Crassus wasn't interested in that.

He ordered the Romans to march off into the desert, in pursuit of the enemy army.

Crassus advanced at a breakneck pace.

He forced his men to eat on the march, and only let them stop for a few moments at any

water sources.

Crassus's subordinates continued to urge him to turn around, or at least stop at a water

source for a couple of days, but he ignored their advice.

After a time, some of Crassus's scouts returned.

They reported that the a huge Parthian army was very close, and that they were all on

horseback.

Crassus ordered his men to deploy in a long, thin line.

This was a pretty standard tactic.

Since the mounted Parthians would have mobility on their side, the Romans had to protect themselves

against being flanked.

Elongating the Roman line would force the Parthians to do the same, which would limit

the size of any Parthian flanking maneuver.

This is ancient warfare 101.

But Crassus wasn't sure of himself.

The fact that the Parthian army was all cavalry was throwing him for a loop.

He changed his mind.

As his men were mid-deployment, he ordered them to come back.

Instead, he had them deploy in a hollow square.

This would allow the Romans to fight on all sides, removing any danger of being flanked,

or even surrounded.

On paper this isn't necessarily the worst idea in the world, but it's definitely unorthodox.

It's one of those "it's so crazy it just might work" ideas.

Crassus's subordinates tried to talk him out of it, but his mind was made up.

The Roman square advanced as one, until they caught sight of the Parthian army.

It turns out that the Roman scouts exaggerated a bit.

The Parthian army wasn't that huge.

In fact it was considerably smaller than the Roman one.

There were only 10,000 Parthians facing off against 43,000 Romans.

Most of the Parthian army was horse archers, with some armoured heavy cavalry mixed in.

The Romans were already in their little square, so the Parthian cavalry was unopposed as they

immediately surrounded them.

When they were in position, they began to be rain arrows down on the Romans from all

sides.

Crassus responded by sending skirmishers forward to drive the horse archers away, but the Parthian

arrows forced the skirmishers to retreat.

The Parthians continued to pound the Roman square with missiles.

Now it's not quite as bad as it sounds.

The Romans knew this was coming.

They were shoulder to shoulder, and everybody was protected by their giant shields.

Most ancient archers could burn through their supply of arrows in like 10 or 15 minutes,

so the Romans just had to sit there and wait for this to happen.

Then, they could close in with the enemy, and fight on their terms.

So they waited.

And waited.

And waited.

The arrows did not stop.

It turns out that the Parthians had brought a lot of arrows.

Like, a lot.

Apparently they had a small army of camels with them, each weighed down with thousands

of arrows.

Their only job was to run back and forth resupplying the horse archers.

They had basically had an infinite supply.

This possibility never occurred to the Romans.

Their shields still protected them from the worst of it, but a small percentage of the

arrows inevitably slipped through the cracks.

Another small percentage would hit a shield at exactly the right angle and go straight

through the wood.

Not very many Romans were being killed, but an alarming number were taking arrows to the

arms or feet.

In desperation, Crassus ordered the entire square forward.

Maybe if they could get close enough, the Parthians would have to stop shooting and

pull back.

It didn't work.

The arrows continued to fall.

This was getting bad.

Something needed to change.

So Crassus ordered his son, Publius, to take the cavalry and a legion and break through

the encircling Parthians.

Publius gathered the men, and charged.

And it worked.

The Parthian horse archers turned and ran.

Publius pursued.

But it didn't take long for Publius to make an unfortunate discovery.

While retreating, the Parthian archers could turn a full 180 degrees on their horses and

continue to shoot their arrows.

This is called the Parthian Shot, and it was a devastating tactic, especially in scenarios

like this.

But Publius and his cavalry ignored the arrows and kept up the momentum, chasing the Parthians

until the rest of the battle vanished in the distance.

Then, the retreating Parthians were joined by another group, doubling their size.

The Parthians swung around, and attacked.

It was all a set-up!

Publius realized his mistake too late.

His small force was immediately surrounded, and the arrows began coming down faster than

ever.

The infantry was totally pinned down.

Publius rallied the cavalry, and charged.

The Parthian heavy cavalry responded, and intercepted them.

The Parthians were armoured, and the Romans were not.

Publius's cavalry did their best, but it wasn't enough.

Publius was badly wounded, and the cavalry retreated.

They endured the Parthian arrows for a while longer, but eventually the arrows stopped,

and the Parthian cavalry charged.

Publius's men were in no condition to put up a fight.

5,300 Romans were left dead on the field, and another 500 surrendered to the Parthians.

Publius ordered one of his men to kill him, so that he wouldn't be taken alive.

Crassus didn't know that any of this was happening.

All he knew was that Publius had broken through, and that the Parthians had diverted some of

their strength to deal with him.

Then, a messenger arrived.

He told Crassus that Publius was being overrun by the Parthians.

For a time, Crassus was unable to make a decision.

Finally, he ordered the entire square forward.

They would march to Publius's aid.

Crassus had no idea that his son was already dead.

As the Romans were getting ready to march, a Parthian horseman came forward.

He started riding back and forth in front of the Roman line.

He was carrying something.

A spear.

On the end of the spear, there was a severed head.

It was Publius.

The Romans had endured a lot, but this was a terrifying sight.

They began to lose their nerve.

A groups of Romans broke from the army and tried to fight through the encircling Parthians

on their own, but the Parthian heavy cavalry intercepted them and cut them down.

Then, the Parthians continued pounding the Romans with arrows.

Finally, the sun started to set.

The Parthians pulled back.

They had rules against fighting at night, and besides, the Romans were on foot.

They weren't going far.

The Romans threw together a haphazard camp, and collected their wounded.

There were a lot of them.

Crassus was inconsolable.

He spent hours huddled on the ground, unable to move, mourning his son.

He didn't have the heart to face his men.

Two of Crassus's legates came forward and told the army that they were taking command,

and that they had the full support of the rank-and-file Centurions.

I guess if you want to be technical you could call this a mutiny, although Crassus didn't

seem to care.

The Legates decided that the Romans would march straight through the night.

The nearest town was Carrhae, which had walls and a Roman garrison.

If they could reach Carrhae, they would be safe.

They didn't bother taking down their camp, they just left it behind, along with anybody

that wasn't strong enough to walk.

Crassus tagged along, but didn't try to reassert his command.

Nobody could see a thing in the darkness.

It was a mess.

People kept on imagining that the Parthians were attacking, and sounding the alarm.

Of the people that could walk, a tonne were wounded, and after a while, they had a hard

time keeping up.

A whole bunch of wounded Romans were just abandoned on the march.

It was bad.

But by sunrise the next day, most of the exhausted survivors made it to Carrhae.

The Parthians descended on the abandoned Roman camp.

There were still a bunch of wounded there, and the Parthians killed them.

Then the Parthians fanned out all over the desert, looking for Roman stragglers, and

there were a lot of them.

Some had been abandoned on the march, and some had simply got lost in the dark.

The Parthians found one group of 2,000 that was walking in the wrong direction.

They captured as many as they could.

The Parthian general figured out that Crassus and the rest of the army were in Carrhae,

and went to negotiate.

He told them that it would be in everyone's best interest if the Romans just left Mesopotamia.

But, just to be sure, he wanted a formal peace treaty, and he wanted Crassus to sign it.

Crassus didn't want anything to do with this.

He was a broken man.

But the Roman army was either near or past mutiny, depending on your definition, and

they just wanted to go home.

They forced Crassus to go with the Parthians.

A small group of Romans went with him.

What happened next was...very strange.

The Parthian general made an over the top display about how it was so undignified for

a Roman general to be walking on foot.

He ordered a horse brought in.

The horse arrived, and it was wearing a very expensive golden bridle.

Like, obnoxiously expensive.

This was meant to somehow humiliate Crassus for his wealth.

The Parthian general told Crassus to get up on the horse.

Crassus tried to politely decline, but the Parthian general insisted.

Crassus was like, "okay..."

When he mounted the horse, and the Parthian holding its reins started running back and

forth erratically, smacking the animal and making it go nuts.

Crassus was hanging on for dear life.

The Romans stepped in.

This was weird, and an undignified, and it had to stop.

As they approached, somebody drew a sword.

There was a brief struggle, and second later, Romans and Parthians were lying dead on the

ground.

Crassus had been thrown from the horse.

Another Parthian came forward, and drew his sword.

He cut off Crassus's hand, and then his head.

Later, according to one account, the Parthians mocked Crassus's wealth one more time, by

melting down some gold, and pouring it down the throat of the severed head.

The Parthian general turned around and rode back east with his Roman prisoners.

He picked one Roman, and told him that from now on, he would answer to the name of Crassus.

He dressed his fake Crassus as a woman, and hired a bunch of prostitutes to follow him

around.

He then grabbed more Romans, and dressed them as lictors, or bodyguards, and had them follow

this fake Crassus as well.

He gave these fake lictors fake fasces, which normally represented the power of the Roman

state.

Affixed to the top of the fasces were the severed heads of other Roman captives.

The Parthian general took this horiffic procession on tour through Parthian territory.

He called it Crassus's Triumph.

In the end, a Parthian army of 10,000 defeated a Roman army of 43,000.

20,000 Romans were killed and another 10,000 were captured.

The legions' eagle standards were also taken, which was an extra level of humiliation.

At the time it was one of the worst defeats in Roman history.

Back in Rome, Crassus's death came as a shock.

Politically, it changed everything.

The Reform faction lost its most prominent financial supporter.

Pompey was now the richest man in Rome, and within a year, he would be distancing himself

from Caesar and aligning with the Conservatives.

Roman politics would never be

the same.

Spies & the Americano: The Endnotes - Duration: 2:30.

Welcome to a new Endless Knot series: the Endnotes!

You see, when I do research for my videos, I always end up with intriguing bits of material

that doesn't fit into the story I'm telling, or that I cut to stop the videos from getting

too long.

Up until now I've put some of those bits into the blog posts I write to accompany each

video, and other bits sometimes get mentioned in our podcast episodes that discuss the videos.

But now I've decided to start putting some of the most interesting tidbits into what

I'm calling "the Endnotes"—short videos that I hope will enrich the original piece.

So, here's the first one!

In my video on The History of the Americano — and if you haven't seen that yet, click

on the card — I talked about the origins of the drink, but I didn't discuss its appearance

in writing—specifically, spy fiction!

The cocktail first appears in print in the 1928 book Ashenden: Or the British Agent written

by Somerset Maugham: "He sat in the cool and drank an americano."

Cocktails often have a connection with secret agents (think James Bond's vodka martini,

shaken not stirred), and this novel fits into that mould.

It's the story of the adventures of a playwright-turned-spy named Ashenden set during WWI.

Apparently it's based on Maugham's own experiences as a member of British Intelligence

during the war, just as Ian Fleming drew on his WWII experiences for James Bond.

Speaking of James Bond, the very first drink he orders in the very first James Bond novel,

Casino Royale, is the Americano, so it definitely has a strong spy pedigree.

In other Bond stories we find the famous super spy drinking a Negroni, so 007's drink tastes

certainly extended beyond his now-trademark martinis.

So let me know in the comments what you think of this new series — and don't worry,

I won't be changing anything about how often I put out the main videos, these will only

be an addition.

I'd particularly like to know if you think we should go back and do some Endnotes for

our earlier videos, where there's material, or just make them for the new ones.

And as always, you can hear even more etymology and history, as well as interviews with a

wide range of fascinating people, on the Endless Knot Podcast, available on all the major podcast

platforms as well as our other YouTube channel.

Thanks for watching!

How To Rap: Software & Hardware - Duration: 5:03.

what's up everybody it's dono in this video

I'm going to be talking about the

different software that you can use to

record and different hardware that you

can use to record so I basically got a

question which was asking what kind of

hardware and what kind of software should

you use when you're rapping and we'll

start with the hardware what kind of

computer do you need so they asked if you

need a mac or a pc really it doesn't

matter the part that's most important

and bear with me on this because i'm not

a computer expert but the most important

part from my understanding is you need

enough ram and a good enough processor

to be able to make music. Music isn't the

most intensive thing you can do on a

computer a lot of games and a lot of

video editing are harder on your

computer but you're going to need a

pretty powerful computer to run the

software that makes music and to be able

to handle all the processing power that's

needed to craft up you know some

different tracks so just to clarify it

doesn't matter if you got a mac or a pc

it might kind of change the software

that you use a little bit but as far as

hardware goes it doesn't really matter

you just need to make sure the processor

and the RAM are up to par now let's talk

about programs a little bit and you have

to bear with me because mixing and

recording and all this stuff is not

where my strengths are I spend most of

my time kind of focused on the craft and

actually rapping and a lot of this other

stuff I started learning a little bit of

but nowadays i outsource to other

people so bear with me but i will give

you a couple ideas for different

programs that you can use the first

thing that I'm going to bring up is

audacity which if you're just recording

music this works if you're trying to

make beats this isn't going to help you

at all but audacity is free and it gives

you a lot of really simple tools for

kind of tuning up music so if you're

just starting out that's going to be a

good resource to use if you've got a mac

what you've got access to is GarageBand

and I haven't used garage band a whole lot but it's what's on a

mac and it has a little bit more

functionality as far as creating beats I

don't know how good it is i'm going to

guess that it's pretty limited I've never

messed around with that but you can also

you know record music on there and do a

little bit of editing so if you're a

beginner one of those two pieces of

software is probably going to be good

for you and they're both free another

thing that I've used is cool edit pro

which is now adobe edition I didn't get

into it super deeply but when I was

starting to learn how to mix a little

bit because I thought that it was

something I wanted to do that's the

program that I used it's a lot more

robust it has a lot more tools than

those other two programs so as you start

learning the different functions and the

different ways that you can tweak your

voice and recordings and mixed up

together that's going to give you a lot

more power and flexibility so that might

be worth checking out audition won't

allow you to make beats though it

doesn't have that functionality built in

the next thing that we can talk about is

SL studio which when I thought I wanted

to make beats I messed around with a

little bit that I think is a platform

that's mainly for creating beats

although I believe you can record music

in it as well I'm not sure again like I

said this isn't my area of expertise but

I do know that it is one of the more

powerful pieces of software for being

able to create beats so if you're a

little bit more serious about making

beats you can give that a try the other

piece of software I'm familiar with is

pro tools and I haven't actually used

pro tools but I've heard a lot of good

things about it I think this is kind of

a souped-up recording software that has

a lot of different functionality and

things that you can do so if you're

looking to get more serious about

recording you might want to pick that up

I don't think it has the functionality to

create beats but it might now all this

being said what you're really going to

want to do is your research if you're

just starting out start digging into

different programs and figure out what

programs work for beginners if you're

starting to reach into some of the

higher levels you're going to want to

talk to producers who create mix and

master music

so that they can give you

recommendations on what's going to work

best because this is something that I'm

super well versed in however I wanted to

give you a few starting points and share

what little i do know about it that's

going to be my main recommendation make

sure you talk to people do your own

research get this stuff figured out

hopefully I've given you a couple ideas

at least to start with or think about but

that's all I've got for this video so as

always if you have any questions

comments topics you want me to cover feel

free to throw them down in the box below

and I will see you next time peace don't

forget to subscribe so you can stay up

to date on the videos and if you have

any questions comments or topics for me

to cover leave them down in the box

below and I'll get to them as soon as

possible see you next time

How to Create a Social Media Content Strategy - Duration: 11:23.

Okay, so today we [talked] [about] [how] to create social Media

Content strategies, and so started it [as] a framework to [help] you plan food

To help you stay organized and sometimes the displays grown-Ups dissolve octopus

So what I always could be real friends and not officially the first is

First cannot use this premium content so by narrow. I have a new philosophy that goes up every Wednesday

[everyone] feeling minimum. I'm going to have a social media post about that quality

Next I want to look at a major holiday or event

So say for website called national day calendar which tells you any?

Holidays for every day [of] the year so you can be more traditional holidays such as a city

For the driving for that or [delivery] and one for National to the better day a national dog day

So Iris look served on

my month every [on] again if I [read] some new ideas and want to

Super fun with one of those really big and you something

the first

so that weren't so we get anything else that you want to be a

Set of cognitive Kings free spirit so say Monday. I want to play something

Motivational is a quote or store in every Monday. That's kind of [making] for Monday, so I know

What it was we every Monday?

Is the optional some people like to be I have seen to escape as we follow the have a really

cheap Corneal

Or just half of the food for one or two days it just depends on

What you want to post them?

Kind of the purpose of your social media [platform]

So next I'm going to fill in there many days within the other ideas such [topics] [were] [piece]

so I have a link in the description and

[Germans] know where should get 30 [more] [days] of

Content for cute ideas and insurance forming following exactly, but at least we will go

topic for this community of Hobbies

Hello

[eclipse'] [reading] with a voice of

31 different Little topics that you can use to help you create and make your conscious Chinese

So now that is [the] topic for the day?

We want to take the content so content using pictures. It's video series

Means whatever, I'm going to put in the description box. [I] have lots of going over to her type of

Content types that you can post on Facebook

But in Instagram and Facebook has of the hero that goes wrong with the first post as well

so you can look at those resources to help you see the different kind of

Locations make on different platforms, so [that] will help you turn out your concert section

so now

[that] you see those so soon you know the different types of content [easy] person [to] the platform

And our kind of look to the few staples. [I] like to vary up for different concerts

I don't always only person as graphic

images [respectively], I

bury my phone between things like that is that soft photos and pictures of myself or

That you can take of the different items I have

Sometimes of these videos of Apple Website and show me something or putting the clips [on] YouTube video on other social media pages

sorry to have

diversity in my place

So now you want to [try] [suppose] you needed opportunites for those different topics that you just put for each day

So you're not always going to be able to?

complete them [clearing] out your [clothes] in the photo system in your mind is so as

You have any video up every Wednesday you may not have all the videos to the [monster]

it should be [fire] [alarms] restraining their social media content for [the] [mania] has a

so I just to make a note in my

[Sharkies] [Satin] killing this video on this Monday that goes up next Wednesday

so that's when I'll have the clips ready and

the parkings no social media [strategies] a schedule out

Yeah, I just really depends on your schedule

so if you're just serving a lot of men that every Sunday, so not you folks in the [holy] and

And just do it that way some people may want to [shift] [to] [a] bus at once

And particularly [let's] do a day's a so depends on your schedule the time you have and has a perfect if you like is it

Something that's hard amazing to deposit your strategy is it or is it something? That's [like]. [oh], yes absolutely

Things we offer you say the month

So now that you have it if you have what the content is going to be so specifically?

You want to schedule out with television history?

Supper or similar types of searches platform so this just like the movies Andre the social media at the same time

So you're not worried [about] what the posts every day?

there's a whole video on sicily and how I use it to schedule out different codes and also [showing] [you] some of the

organizational features of that platform

So now I'm going to show you in kind of a simple

strategy that I just came up with that I'm going to show you and take you through my

[circumstances]

okay, so

Where I do is I just took [the] google doc, and I'll have Monday through Sunday and [also] [surfaces]

besides the there's a week ended up for this simple, and then I'll just copy this and

Have with Monday through Sunday for the whole month. So it just depends on [three] [different] papers these people job if you want to

Make this import for yourself and print it out and sort in that way depends on what you like

I always using Google docs is and the [CPS] bed on Their own

computer so

[here] I put the content bucket

Then I will put the caption if I already have written the caption and then notes about this theory and then once you

Have the content. I'll just paste it under [the] [month] so our say their day [is] a week so I can easily

Cancel opportunities or to [screw] it to my phone to place

So yeah, so Monday. I want to put some relationally Monday, so I write out the quotes

Then I made a note if I mixed graphic with the quote just do it

And I can make this graphic with as soon as I

Sketch, Laura [point] out the content for the week or I can do it later just kind of depends

To the next content bucket for Tuesday. I put blog post so I want to make a graphic with

The blog post title so I want to do four different images [that] can make a carousel or a slideshow, so I'm thinking

What I meant by this is on Instagram, I'm going to use the multiple pictures

Feature and do four different photos and then to share it on Facebook. I'm going to be for carousel link and that

[is]

you'll have [a]

service of sliding

Kind of thing where you have different photos and if you click on each individual photo. You can link it to those

Individual blog posts, and then if I was going to post this on Twitter, [I] may just do four tweets throughout the day

With the corresponding links to the blog posts and pictures

The best tournament and sample of how you can take one idea and tweak it for different social media platforms

So Wednesday I put and we share a book I'm reading

So something I need to do there to make sure I read a chapter to know forever

The book is so that I can have some

Something to share about that book because if I wanted to share about a book I would want to share about with a point

But that was running

Site [poll] or helpful to me

That could [use] offense or somewhere else so Thursday for the [edge] this content bucket is just a random holiday

separate national dog day, so I would share about my dog and

yeah, I don't really need help running the caption above that so I didn't put anything and then I have pictures in my dog or

My cell of [course] because you have a dog you don't have to choose every dog on yourself

What are you doing with your life?

Okay, so Friday and put the constant fucking striding [reflections], and I take a selfie

Darnell cited them really, I don't have any ideas. I don't know what to do

You [need] [to] [choose] yourself [isn't] require that much effort you tried

Decent lighting so for the captions that I would write later

And/or [I'd] probably write it on the slide action something saw with some a Friday reflection

[it's] just reflecting [lutwidge] that they wanted or have a weak word or

Something I [wanted] [that] week or however. I'm feeling you know very type of [since] things

So Saturday, I would put a clip so [cotton] bucket we get fun, and I put a note pictures with whatever

I'm doing so

this isn't something that I was scheduled in advance because it just depend on what I'm doing right battery and

lastly Sunday

So I put the content buckets in useful [shift] and more specifically how to milk back for the week

[sobytiya] Chives milk wrap on [Sundays]

So [I] just do note that [I] need to remember to take [photos] after I finish my milk up

So that I can share a couple of useful tips

Okay, [so] I hope this video was [helpful]. [I'm] going to give you a

starting point how to make your own social media content strategy you can make it as simple or as complicated as

You [want] to it just depends [time]?

It [something] that you and share on your social Media

platforms and how often and ETC, but with endless possibilities and

Again, there's a link down description to get the different

anyone

into ideas for posting

Content bucket [Slash] topic so I hope you enjoyed the video and [you] self is full

Top 5 Tips to Grow Your Social Media Presence - Duration: 6:48.

Hi in today's video. I'm going to share with you my top 5 tips for growing Social Media presence

So it does not matter. It's your business looking to

Increase [your] brand awareness or if you're a blogger looking for more engagement

Okay, so the first tip is to have a content strategy

So I'm going to link the video where I go more in depth about how to create a content strategy

But just to give you a brief summary is going to be your framework

So you never run out of post ideas, and it will help you be consistent. So [it] will help you plan out

what and when you're going to post each week for the whole month and

Different types of content so you're varying the types of content that you're posting and more?

Number two is to be consistent so you can post every day for three months [and] then not post for a month

that's not going to get you the engagement in the results in one from posting on Social Media if

You're not consistent. So people are

not going to see you in their feed as you post every other week, so [you're] going to be missing a lot of

Opportunities, and it's almost pointless to post for two weeks in the office for a month [because] you're not going to be getting the maximum

benefit, so it's better [just] to wait and

develop your conscience tragedies from Step number one

Before you start posting so that you can make sure you're in consistent

Number three is to engage with your followers and other

Businesses and social media so think about it the whole purpose of social media is to be social

so don't just post your [close] every day or whenever you're doing it go on other [peoples] pages and comment and like

But make it genuine, please don't use those services

What's the Autobots and likes because?

They're just ridiculous at this point

and it's really obvious when a person is using them and

It'll bring down your credibility and what you're trying to build in your platform [if] you're using those type of tools

So I've seen examples like someone will post a picture because their grandmother died

And they're sharing that and then you go to thomas and you'll see comments

[I'll] be like thumbs up or smiley faces, so you can clearly tell that those are box because the comments don't match the content and

Honestly those people that are getting those comments they'll block you in with the comments

So it's not worth it your spend some time and engage with content that you like so you'll find people in your niche

That have similar interests as well as that's how you can kind of build an organic followings that way

So number four is to analyze your content [so] [a] lot of people will look at their instagram or their Facebook posts and say okay

I got five likes that's a lot my content is doing good

But you [actually] [need] to calculate this thing called engagement rate

Which is simply the number of people that have engaged with your [posts] in any form?

Divided by the number of people who saw it so that's going to be your post reach

So for Facebook and Twitter you [have] analytics built in and if you export some of that data

Or look in their summary tables, you'll be able to calculate that engagement rate

So it's very important that you

calculate this rate every month for all of your posts on your different platforms and

calculate your average engagement rate, so you can see

what posts had the highest engagement which post type of lowest engagement because that will help you tweak your content strategy and for

Instagram there isn't a built-in one right when you create your account

But if you change through your personal account which this means it's not connected to a Facebook page to a business account

You'll be able to access their analytics and be able to calculate your engagement rate from that

Following [a] link in the description box that I'll show you how to do

it's really simple and quick and it can be so helpful because

Your posts or monday-- may have got 100 likes

But only 200 people saw so that's the 50% engagement rate where folks from Tuesday. It was like

Oh, wow. I got 150 likes so this mission must be better than [the] one from Monday the post from Tuesday actually

Got a thousand people saw the post so that vision rates would be much lower than Monday's posts

So you really have to base it off of how many people follow the [post] and how many people engage with the post?

So the last tip is number size, and that's to optimize your content based on your analysis

So [you] don't want to just be posting?

Every day for months and months on [end] and not know what's working, so

From [step] number four you're going to calculate the posts with the highest engagement and you want to use that data to treat more

Content that's getting the higher engagement and less content that is getting the lower engagement

and this will help you tweak your strategy over time so that you have a

To give you more engagement overall which is what you want to engage [in] review that people follow you

More likes [on] your post people [lecture] engaging and maybe visiting your blog if you know you had a tweet

[then] to go read this blog [post], so it's really important that you use those results to

Optimize what you're trying to do with social Media whether it be increase sales

increase your brand awareness, whatever your goal is and

Also with number size you want to be flexible?

So I know I talked to step one about having [the] constant sharing with your same [word]

You'll see more that if you watch the next video

but

That's just meant to help you be consistent and have a some kind of strategy in place. So [that] you're not just

doing random things

But you want to be flexible in using the results [or] analysis to really give you the best content strategy?

So I hope you found these five tips helpful, and that you can implement them

They all definitely can be implemented at one time [because] you really have to start with that concert strategy

developing that for a month and then after you had a month of consistent posting I

recommend, you going look at the analytics for all the different [platforms] that you've been posting on and look at those results and kind of

Let those inform the next month's worth of posts

You see the left part

and you check

it from bottom

it's called "CREATE"

You click it

and there's many

music what it has

free copyright

and sound effect too

*WALKING*

*CLAP*

the second, you must be get a permission

okay, the second tips

you must get a permission

by Youtube Content Creators

why?

because

you must get a permission

who has a video or music

and

if he is sulking

or he doesn't want

to use his video or music

He will bring this issue

into the realm of the law

like i'm using

video

*confused jokes*

IF

ARMAN prohibited

me to use

his video "MAKAN BANG"

maybe

he will

Bring this issue into the realm of law

so the conclusion

is

if you want

to avoid copyright from Youtube

you should use music

Notes on "Summer Dream" - Duration: 0:57.

The poem "Summer Dream" has a plot consisting of four inspirational comments.

First, as you get up every morning trapped in another dream, you can always wake up

and jump out of one dream into another, upward through life, which has no limits.

Second, the key is not meant to open a treasure chest filled with gold.

Rather, the key is meant to free your mind and realize the wealth within.

Third, you are perfect regardless of your background, be it racially based, gender-based, or religion-based.

A light brighter or dimmer would ruin your color.

A stretch vertically or horizontally would ruin your shape.

The last thought is related to the beginning dream, as you are stuck in wintertime, which is a snow globe.

But if you look outward, someone is shaking the snow in adoration of you and will someday crack it open

and everything will become summer.

Notes on "Baby, Come Here Tonight" - Duration: 1:47.

The poem "Baby, Come Here Tonight" is Gothic-themed.

The setting is a graveyard at nighttime.

There are three characters, two of which are stock characters: the Devil and the jester.

The third character is you.

The plot involves seducing you over to death.

In the beginning, sunlight streams on the graveyard,

where the Devil imposes as a stone angel in wait for the sun to go out.

Thrilled, the Devil casts aside the wings and dons horns.

The Devil dances to open graves of resurrected corpses, including the jester.

The jester digs a grave for you.

In response, you run away, only to be trapped by the approaching jester,

who informs you that your heart will wear out in a matter of years due to the tears eroding the vigor.

The jester suggests death as a superior alternative to life, which is personified as running to a higher place,

where the Devil gives out tickets associated with various sins.

Then, the Earth splits and you fall through the cracks, barely clinging to life, literally and figuratively,

as your mind snaps. Any attempt at tugging only unravels your mind further to oblivion.

You fall into a vat of blood that is yours, as a result of cutting your veins or committing suicide,

which is sweeter than love, personified as running to a higher place toward death.

The plot ends with the image of the jester singing "Baby, come here tonight," having won you over.

STRANGE Natural Phenomena On Earth! - Duration: 12:26.

From disappearing rivers to mummifying lakes, here are 8 of the strangest natural phenomenon

in the world!

8.

Lake Natron, Tanzania

In Tanzania, there is a lake that turns animals into stone.

The alkaline water of Lake Natron has a pH as high as 10.5.

This makes it so caustic it can burn the skin and eyes of animals that aren't adapted to

it.

Sodium carbonate and other minerals in the surrounding hills, which flow into the lake,

creates the high alkalinity.

Sodium carbonate has another interesting feature: it was once used in Egyptian mummification.

Any animal that dies in the water of Lake Natron turns into a natural mummy.

Photographer Nick Brandt took the little animal mummies the lake creates and used them to

create a haunting collection of photos that he put into a book titled Across the Ravaged

Land.

The book paints the picture of a desolate lake, though this couldn't be further from

the truth.

Lake Natron does support an ecosystem of salt marshes, freshwater wetlands, fish, algae,

and a breed of flamingos.

During breeding season, more than 2 million lesser flamingos use the shallow lake as their

primary breeding ground in Africa.

The flamingos build nests on small islands that form in the lake during the dry season.

Unfortunately, a proposed hydroelectric power plant on the Ewaso Ngiro River, the main river

feeding the lake, threatens Lake Natron and its flamingos.

Because of how isolated the lake is there are no protections in place for the lake or

its threatened flamingo population.

7.

Light Pillars

Light pillars are an optical phenomenon caused when flat, hexagonal ice crystals refract

lights.

These lights tend to take on the color of the light source and are usually produced

by streetlights.

However, any light source, under the right conditions, can create a light pillar.

And what, exactly, are those conditions?

To create light pillars, you need ice crystals.

For these crystals to form, temperatures must be below zero degrees Fahrenheit.

In most light pillar cases, temperatures are minus ten, twenty, or lower.

There also must be no wind and the crystals need to be near the ground.

Oftentimes, this means high pressure without a storm present.

In fact, a storm system can disrupt pillar formation.

In January 2017, in Ontario, Canada, residents were treated to the gorgeous sight of dozens

of vertical shafts of blue, white, and orange lights hanging in the sky.

The lights were even seen by residents in neighboring towns.

At the time, temperatures minus 18 degrees Celsius or minus 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

The lights hung in the sky for at least forty five minutes before fading away.

6.

Flammable Ice Bubbles

Methane bubbles form in bodies of water when dead organic matter, like leaves and animals,

falls into the water and sinks to the bottom.

The bacteria in the lake bed consumes the matter and releases methane.

The methane floats to the surface of the water and disperses.

But what happens when subzero temperatures turn that lake into a skating rink?

Then you get flammable ice bubbles.

Every year, people come out to skate on Lake Abraham in Canada, where the methane bubbles

can be seen just below the surface.

This isn't the only lake, however, to sport these bubbles.

Lake Vernon and Lake Minnewanka also show these frozen wonders.

In some places, however, the methane bubbles up so continuously that ice cannot form.

It can create a watery pothole large enough to be seen from the air.

While beautiful, these bubbles hint at a dangerous trend emerging in the frozen north.

Because of climate change, decreasing permafrost means more and more methane is being released

into the atmosphere.

Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, more so than carbon dioxide, and directly affects

the environment.

5.

Lenticular Clouds

Lenticular clouds get their name from their lens or saucer-like shape, which also explains

their nickname "flying saucer clouds".

In fact, they are sometimes mistaken for UFOs.

Other nicknames for lenticular clouds include "cloud ships", "clouds of heaven",

and "lennies".

Lenticular clouds are stationary clouds that form at high altitudes in the sky, aligned

at a right angle to the direction of the wind.

This is why they often form over mountain ranges, when stable humid air blows over the

top of the range.

If the temperature is low enough on the downwind side of the mountains, the moisture in the

air will condense into a saucer shaped cloud.

And, if the conditions are right, groups of lenticular clouds can form what scientists

call a "wave cloud".

Another unique feature of this natural phenomena is that lenticular clouds can be brightly

colored along their edges.

Lenticular clouds can also form over flat land if there is shear wind.

Airplane pilots try to avoid flying near lenticular clouds.

The waves of air that form them can cause turbulence, turning a beautiful sight into

a bouncy, scary experience.

However, that same reason to avoid them is the reason why people flying gliders love

them.

Those same air currents allow gliders to sail to great heights and long distances.

4.

Devil's Kettle, Minnesota, USA

On the easternmost tip of Minnesota, not far from Lake Superior and the US-Canadian Border,

the Brule River drops 800 feet in an 8-mile span.

At one point, the river splits into two.

One side flows down into a normal, respectable waterfall.

The other disappears into a hole in the ground and no one knows what happens after that.

People call this area Devil's Kettle Falls.

The giant hole drinks down massive amounts of water, all of which goes to an unknown

place, baffling hikers and scientists for decades.

The water has to come out somewhere and most agree it eventually empties into Lake Superior.

However, there are no underground rivers because of the type of rock.

Dyes and ping-pong balls have been dropped into the water to try to trace the water's

path, but none of these dyes and balls have ever been seen again.

Riverbed potholes, also called kettles, are common.

However, they're normally surface erosions, not entire channels.

Possible explanations for this strange geological feature include a fault line, an underground

cave, and a lava tube.

To support the sheer amount of water pouring in every day, there would need to be a deep

and large underground cave or channel.

However, these form rarely and only in limestone, which is a soft stone that dissolves easily

in water.

In this area of Minnesota, the ground is basalt and rhyolite, which do not support underground

channels.

It cannot be a lava tube because rhyolite does not form lava tubes.

An open fault line would eventually be clogged with sediment, as would a lava tube for that

matter.

Besides, there's no evidence of a fault line.

So, where is the water going and how is it going anywhere?

One legend states someone pushed a car into the fissure to discover the truth.

Some people have tried GPS and cameras but those are rendered useless once underground.

The nature of the chasm also prevents would-be spelunkers and divers from probing the mysterious

depths.

For the time being, Devil's Kettle Falls remains a complete mystery.

3.

Earthquake Lights

Over the years, people reported mysterious lights before, during, or after earthquakes.

Some have even called them UFO sightings.

However, earthquake lights are a real and terrestrial event.

Accounts of earthquake lights, or earthquake lightning, go back as far as the 1600s.

In 1972, Jim Conacher took photos of seven balls of yellow light floating on a mountain

in Canada's Yukon Territory.

At the time, Conacher believed he had caught real evidence of UFOs.

Friedemann Freund, an adjunct professor of physics at San Jose State University, believes

Conacher actually took photos of earthquake lights as the pictures were taken hours before

the nearby Cross Sound earthquake of July 1, 1973, which measured 6.7 on the Richter

scale.

Other photographed and videoed sightings include lights during the Nagano earthquakes in the

mid-1960s and lights during a magnitude 8 quake in Pisco, Peru in 2007.

People also reported lights during an earthquake in New Zealand in 2016.

Various theories have formed over what causes these mysterious orbs.

Scientists suggest the disruption of the Earth's magnetic field by tectonic stress or the piezoelectric

effect, in which quartz-bearing rocks produce voltages when compressed.

Professor Freund, however, believes that the stresses of an earthquake causes electrical

charges to be activated, as if the Earth's crust suddenly became a battery.

Earthquake lights are most often seen in Italy, Greece, France, Germany, China, and parts

of South America, though they have been elsewhere.

These lights have also served as warnings of impending quakes because they can occur

weeks beforehand.

Prior to the L'Aquila earthquake in 2009, a man saw bright flashes of light.

Because he had read about earthquake lights, he moved his family to a safer place.

Also, a Chinese geologist, after seeing lights, took shelter prior to the deadly 1976 Tangshan

quake.

2.

Dirty Thunderstorms

Dirty thunderstorms, also called volcanic lightning, occur when lightning is sparked

within volcanic ash.

Scientists don't know much about this rare and beautiful occurrence but they think electric

charges generated when ash, rock fragments and ice particles collide within the volcanic

plume create the lightning.

However, despite the rarity of this event, this happens regularly at Sakurajima volcano

in Japan, one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

The volcano erupts daily and, with that daily eruption, comes frequent sparks of lightning.

In 2015, volcano film-maker Marc Szeglat got up close and personal with Sakurajima volcano

to photograph the gorgeous display.

Another example of a dirty thunderstorm occurred during the eruption of Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull

volcano in the spring of 2010.

The eruption was an explosive one because gas trapped in the magma caused the magma

to erupt explosively from the volcano.

From May 11 to 20, 2010, experts reported intense lightning activity in the volcano's

plume, including sparks at the base of the plume and large thunderbolts.

1.

Hessdalen Lights, Norway

Here's another strange light in the sky.

Since at least the 1930s, the residents of Hassdalen Valley in Norway began reporting

strange lights.

The occurrence reached a height between December 1981 and mid-1984, when 10-20 sightings were

reported in a week.

The lights occur in a variety of colors and shapes.

They appear just above or below the horizon.

Some whiz through the sky at incredible speed while others sway slowly back and forth.

Residents discovered one slope in particular made for a great viewing spot.

UFO enthusiasts soon descended on the valley, convinced that the lights were E.T. paying

a visit.

However, scientists have a few theories as to what is causing this very natural phenomena.

Some suggest these lights are "coloumb crystals", which form from plasma.

Scientists investigated an area where an onlooker reported a Hessdalen light and discovered

the rocks there emitted higher radiation levels.

They raised concerns that radon is bounding with dust particles and getting into the atmosphere,

where they can decay into alpha particles.

These alpha particles can create the plasma that creates the lights.

There's concern because radon, if inhaled or digested, causes cancer.

Another theory, one that's significantly less harmless, suggests that metallic minerals

in the soil create a natural battery that, when it reacts with a sulphurous river running

through it, create the Hessdalen lights.

If that theory is correct, then this could open a new way to storing energy.

For now, though, the Hessdalen lights remain a beautiful—but potentially deadly—mystery.
