Saudi Arabia Surprised Me | MBS & Moderation | ELAI 25 - Duration: 5:47.

S- Hey Rob, Saudi Arabia has basically neutered the religious police

R- Oh, I'm sure that'll last.

S- Hey Rob, Saudi Arabia changed the female guardianship laws

R- Yeah, like that's going to make it's way into the actual culture

S- Hey Rob, Woman can drive in Saudi Arabia now.

R-Yippee, way to throw us a bone Saudi Arabia.

I'm not impressed

S- Hey Rob, The next in line to the throne just announced that Saudi Arabia is turning

towards moderate Islam.

R- Whaaaaat?!?!?

Ok I'll admit it.

Saudi Arabia surprised me.

Last Tuesday (10/24) the Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, used the announcement

of a new megacity economic zone to make some striking statements on Islam in Saudi Arabia.

Bin Salman, more commonly known as MBS followed this up with an interview with the Guardian

that was pretty mind-blowing as well.

Talk is cheap, but for a second there, the Saudi Crown Prince was beginning to sound

like one of my videos.

Two passages from the Guardian article are worth reading in full.

"What happened in the last 30 years is not Saudi Arabia.

What happened in the region in the last 30 years is not the Middle East.

After the Iranian revolution in 1979, people wanted to copy this model in different countries,

one of them is Saudi Arabia.

We didn't know how to deal with it.

And the problem spread all over the world.

Now is the time to get rid of it."

" 70% of the Saudis are younger than 30, honestly we won't waste 30 years of our

life combating extremist thoughts, we will destroy them now and immediately."

Now I don't think all of this is true.

The Extremism of the past 30 years has very much been about Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Arabia's

extremist history goes back waaay more than 30 years.

But that truth makes these comments even braver.

MBS has conceded that something is wrong with Saudi Arabia which is something that leaders

very rarely do.

It's like Kim Jong Un Backing off communism or Donald Trump backing off tweets, Or Kim

Jong Un backing off Communism.

Shocking stuff.

It's pretty extraordinary, and it should be recognized.

But it doesn't change my estimates of Saudi Arabia's chances.

They seem to be retreating farther and farther into Dream Land.

Consider the plans announced for NEOM, the new economic zone.

It's supposed to cost 500 billion dollars.

That's a larger amount than all of the foreign reserves Saudi Arabia has left.

It's telling that at the new economic zone's announcement, MBS sat himself next to Christiane

Lagarde, the head of the International Monetary Fund.

Saudi Arabia expects the rest of the world to pay for their transformation.

This supposed turn against Saudi radicalism is part of a massive and successful public

relations push.

It's certainly gotten Saudi Arabia's story out there.

I highly doubt it will drive real investment.

MBS has gone much further with the rhetoric, much sooner than I expected.

That could be a sign that Saudi Arabia is in even more trouble than I thought.

I think it's worth diving in on Crown Prince MBS a little bit more.

He's being constantly pitched as the New, Different, Face of Saudi Arabia.

He gets a new launch every time he moves up in the hierarchy.

This happened most recently in June 2017 when he officially became next in line for the

throne.

But he's really not all that new anymore.

He's had vast and growing powers since his father reached the throne in January of 2015.

Many of Saudi Arabia's recent mis-steps were all MBS.

As Minister of Defense, he launched the horror show in Yemen.

The Qatar Crisis, an attempt to isolate Iran that has backfired completely is thought to

be another MBS brain wave.

The Crown Prince's almost three year romance with the Western Press has hidden fundamentals

that look worse and worse for Saudi Arabia.

The foreign reserves are down to 480 billion from 737 Billion just three years ago.

The Aramco IPO that is supposed to fund big projects like the new economic zone is getting

delayed, and people are beginning to question whether it is even going to happen.

Even with the current small rise in oil prices, Saudi Arabia is still very much running out

of money.

The moves toward moderation I mentioned at the beginning of the videos are all great,

but they seem more like desperation to me than progress.

And it's not at all clear what the Crown Prince's people think of all of this.

The chances of a backlash are high, and passed over princes like Muhammad bin Nayef are waiting

in the wings for the crown prince to fail.

For now though, I do have to say that I think more highly of MBS than I did last week.

He has surprised me, and he has almost certainly earned himself a spot in history.

But it may not be the spot he thinks it is.

this one, please check out my crowdfunding thing at the patreon link here.

How To Get Rid Of Dark Inner Thighs.

A lot of people are having problems with hidden areas in their bodies and they feel embarrassed

to discuss it.

This is especially the case with having dark inner thighs or dark groin areas of the body.

We usually see persons with light and fair skin.

Here are tips on how to whiten dark inner thighs the natural way.

In this video we are talking about best 5 home remedies to get rid of dark inner thighs.

Please click the subscribe button and the bell icon for more videos.

1.

Lemon.

The acidic property of lemon works as a natural bleaching agent for dark skin.

Apply lemon juice to your dark inner thigh using a cotton ball.

Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water.

Repeat 2 or 3 times per week.

Those who have sensitive skin must dilute the lemon juice with water.

As lemon can dry out your skin, apply a moisturizer after using these remedies.

2.

Cucumbers.

The natural bleaching property of cucumbers can help lighten your dark inner thighs.

Gently rub cucumber slices or cucumber juice on your thighs for 10 minutes.

Wait 5 minutes and then rinse it off with water.

Repeat once or twice daily.

3.

Turmeric.

Turmeric inhibits melanin production, so you can use it to treat skin discoloration and

maintain an even skin tone.

Mix a little turmeric powder with 1 teaspoon of milk cream.

Rub it gently on your inner thighs.

Allow it to dry before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

Use this remedy once daily.

4.

Baking Soda.

Baking soda can also improve the dark complexion of your inner thighs.

It works as an exfoliating agent to remove sun-damaged skin cells that have darkened.

Mix 1 tablespoon each of baking soda and milk or water to make a paste.

Add a little honey and mix well.

Apply it on your thighs and rub gently in circular motions for a couple of minutes.

Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Repeat every other day.

5.

Yogurt.

Yogurt is a very gentle bleaching agent that can lighten the color of your inner thighs.

Gently rub some plain yogurt on your inner thighs.

Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Use this simple treatment once daily.

How To Get Rid Of Insomnia │ Home Remedies For Insomnia - Duration: 2:23.

How To Get Rid Of Insomnia.

Most people at some time experience sleepless nights or insomnia.

It is thought that ten percent of the population experience chronic insomnia and about fifty

percent are affected to some degree.

Insomnia is not a disease, but a symptom of something else.

In this video we are talking about best 4 home remedies to get rid of insomnia.

Please click the subscribe button and the bell icon for more videos.

1.

Bananas.

Eating a banana can be useful in combating insomnia because it contains an amino acid

called tryptophan that helps raise serotonin levels, which help regulate sleep patterns.

It also will elevate your mood and help regulate your appetite.

Minerals like iron, calcium, and potassium present in this fruit also help with sleep.

2.

Warm Milk.

Warm milk is an excellent home remedy to relax your mind and body.

Moreover, like bananas, milk contains tryptophan that promotes sleep.

Mix one-quarter teaspoon of cinnamon powder in a cup of warm milk.

Drink it one hour before going to bed.

3.

Hot Bath.

Taking a hot bath or shower about two hours before going to bed can be of great help in

treating insomnia.

It works as a good bedtime ritual to relax your body and soothe nerve endings.

To make this remedy even more effective, add a few drops of soothing essential oils like

lemon balm, chamomile, rosemary, or lavender to the bath water.

4.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey.

Apple cider vinegar contains amino acids that relieve fatigue.

Plus, it helps break down fatty acids that release tryptophan.

Honey promotes sleep by raising your insulin and causing a release of serotonin, a brain

chemical that helps regulate sleep cycles.

Mix two teaspoons each of organic apple cider vinegar and honey in a glass of warm water.

Drink it before bedtime.

HALLOWEEN BOYCOTT 18:20: Before we get started, I should warn you that I have absolutely no intention of discussing Halloween tonight. I've seen enough 'hilarious' costumes, read enough puns and watched enough cheap Halloween-themed programmes to last a lifetime.

So if you were hoping to read about "Zlatan Ibrahimowitch" or "Roman Abroomandawitch," I'm afraid you're bang outta luck. I feel like the Mark Corrigan of Halloween.

EVENING 18:15: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of Roma vs Chelsea from the Stadio Olimpico. I don't know about you, but after watching last night's atrocious match between Burnley and Newcastle - the Champions League is seriously welcome.

Think of it as a palate cleanser after the worst meal you've ever eaten…  Anyway, Antonio Conte's side could put one foot in the knockout stages with victory in Rome tonight.

But that's easier said than done against a Roma side who've won eight of their last 10 games. Should be a cracker!.

How To Get Rid Of A hickey │ Home Remedies For Hickey - Duration: 2:45.

How to Get Rid Of a Hickey.

A hickey is known as a love bite and is basically formed as a result of rough kissing or sucking

hard on the skin.

The broken veins in the shoulder or neck can source the pooling of the blood, which turns

the skin purple or red.

As making love becomes more and more passionate, it is almost impossible to know that the skin

is being scraped as bites form wounds and reddish spots often known as a hickey.

In this video we are talking about best 5 home remedies to get rid of hickey.

Please click the subscribe button and bell icon for more videos.

1.

Peppermint.

The stimulant effect of peppermint can help improve blood circulation, and hence it is

very useful in treating hickeys.

Apply peppermint oil gently on the affected skin area.

Initially there will be a tingling sensation, but it will quickly go away.

Do not use this remedy more than twice a day as it can irritate the skin.

2.

Aloe Vera. Aloe vera is a natural moisturizer that will

help reduce the sensitivity of the affected skin area.

Also, its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties will help the burst capillaries under your

skin heal faster.

Extract fresh aloe vera gel and massage the gel into the bruise.

Do this two or three times a day.

3.

Banana Peel.

Banana peels have soothing as well as cooling properties that can help minimize your hickey

fast.

Cut the peel of a ripe banana to the size of your hickey.

Place the inside of the peel on the bruise for 10 to 30 minutes.

Do these two or three times a day to reduce the appearance of the bruise.

4.

Oranges.

Oranges have a high amount of vitamin C, an essential nutrient required by the body to

repair your skin.

Also, vitamin C has healing properties that will help heal a hickey quickly.

Just after getting a hickey, drink extra orange juice.

Instead of packaged orange juice, drink fresh juice for best results.

5.

Cocoa Butter.

Cocoa butter works as an effective healing agent for bruises like hickeys.

Apply a warm compress on the hickey.

Once the area is warm, apply some cocoa butter.

Massage the area gently for a few minutes.

This will break up the blood clot and stimulate circulation.

Do this several times throughout the day.

1.

Apple Cider Vinegar.

Being an antifungal and anti-inflammatory agent, apple cider vinegar can also be used

to treat any underlying infection that may be contributing to tinnitus.

Apple cider vinegar also balances the alkaline level in the body.

Mix two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and a little honey in a glass of water.

Drink this solution two or three times daily until the ringing sensation in the ears stops.

2.

Onions.

The medicinal and antibacterial properties of onions help treat ear infections causing

tinnitus.

Chop one small onion into small pieces.

Microwave the onions for one to two minutes.

Allow it to cool, and then strain out the juice.

Put two or three drops of the juice in the infected ear.

Leave it in the ear for five minutes, and then turn your head to let the juice drain

out.

Do this a few times a week to get rid of tinnitus.

3.

Garlic.

Garlic can be used to treat tinnitus caused by high altitudes or cold weather.

Garlic helps reduce inflammation as well as improve blood circulation.

Fry two crushed garlic cloves in one tablespoon of sesame oil.

canal.

Do this daily at night before going to bed.

Continue for about one week.

You can also take garlic capsules or use this herb in your cooking.

4.

Holy basil.

Holy basil can be made into a paste and put into the ear to help clear out any bacterial

infections.

Blend a handful of basil leaves in a blender making a paste-like mixture.

Press the paste through a strainer with a spoon to extract the juices.

Warm the juice mixture up slightly, about lukewarm.

Drip the holy basil juice into the affected ear using a dropper.

Repeat twice daily for three to four days.

5.

Mustard oil.

Mustard oil is an antifungal agent, so it can help clear infections and boost the immune

system.

Slightly warm a little mustard oil in a microwave.

Put a few drops of warm mustard oil directly into the affected ear.

Allow the oil to sit for five to 10 minutes.

Then tilt your head to the other side so that the oil drains out of the ear.

Remove the softened earwax with the help of an ear bud.

Repeat once daily for a few days.

Dave Meier - Why I Support Laure Quinlivan - Duration: 1:32.

My name's Dave Meier, I'm a union carpenter, was a representative for the

council. I'm retired now. I met Laurie through Dave Crowley, he

says you got to meet her, she she's real. Laure Quinlivan helped the workers

get the money that they were entitled to, the prevailing wage that they were

entitled to get. She was the go-to person. The big one was the U-square... not only

were they not getting prevailing wage, they just weren't being paid any

overtime. They were getting $500 for 50 hours, no insurance, no unemployment, no

workers comp. It was brought to Laure's attention, and it made a major story in

Cincinnati. And it has led to the wage theft ordinance... the ordinance that

says that if the city has a certain percentage into the project, the whole

project is union. There is a photo of Demetrius and Laure together. Demetrius

through Laure's effort, was paid in whole on the U-square project. He was

able to take and get into apprenticeship program, and have a career versus a job.

Laure Quinlivan truly believes in workers' rights. She continues to help the

carpenters, workers being misclassified and cheated on their wages. I think

voters need to know that Laure Quinlivan is honest, true and someone that

will fight for them.

Gangaji: Who Are You In Relationship? - Duration: 1:54.

So extraordinary what we have the potential to discover, the potential to live.

Our next three meetings will be really centered around relationship, which is a perfect extension

of this of course, because it is...when I say relationship I'm speaking of what you perceive as yourself

and what you perceive as other.

And that of course includes the whole world, the whole internal world,

the whole external world.

So in preparation for our examining closely relationship this next month I would just

invite you to suspend all of your judgement about relationships and just be curious.

To recognize, how do you relate?

How do you relate to friends, how do you relate to enemies, how do you relate to yourself,

how do you relate to the world?

Not, how should you relate, but simply, how do you relate?

Just as a way, a vehicle for entering in the deepening of our conversation,

the deepening of this conversation, how do you live?

Because how do you relate is the essential part of how do you live?

200th video!! State of the Channel Address // Itchy Feet on the Cheap - Duration: 2:18.

Hello everyone and welcome to my channel. This is Itchy Feet on the Cheap. I'm Ryan,

and this is my 200th video! Two hundred videos! I don't know how I did it.

Pretty crazy. But here I am - two hundred videos in. If you're seeing one of my

videos for the first time, I kind of like to think of myself as a modern-day

explorer. I love to learn about the world, about cultures, and about food. I

actually used to be a location scout - I would find locations for television

commercials to shoot. I think I did that for about six or seven years and one day

my my father suddenly passed away. He was 55 years old. He was one year away from

retirement and he had this whole motorcycle trip planned. He was so excited,

it was all he could talk about, but after working most of his life, he didn't make

it. So that really changed the way I think about life. I quit my job

and I started exploring the world as much as I could. Accompanying me is Sara,

my partner in crime together. We've traveled South America, we've lived in

Slovakia, traveled all over Europe, we lived in Vietnam for a couple years, and

traveled all over Southeast Asia, and now we're living in China and we've been

here for over a year. There's just so much to explore in China, but we do like

to get out from time to time. We're always planning our next trip. Right now

it's Sri Lanka in December. We love food. That's a big part of why we live in

Chengdu, which is Asia's first city to be named a UNESCO city of gastronomy. And to

honor this, I randomly choose a dish every week with the help of a pack of

Sichuan food playing cards that I found in a souvenir shop. I shuffle these up, I

draw one, I hunt down the dish, and I share it with you guys. So that video

gets posted every Thursday at 3 o'clock Eastern Standard Time, and then I do

another video on Tuesdays 3 o'clock Eastern Standard Time about living in

China, or about traveling around China, or wherever I happen to be at that time. So

please follow along by subscribing and hitting the bell icon right where the

subscribe button was below, and you'll be notified whenever a new video is posted.

I've got at least another 200 videos left in me, so stay tuned and thanks to

everyone who's watched any of my videos ever. I'd probably still be making them

if no one watched, but it sure doesn't motivate me

when I read your comments, when I see your likes, and all that good stuff. Okay,

that's it. Thanks and remember... there's so much to

explore, so let yourself soar. FART!

Portal Keeper Hasabel Guide - Heroic Portal Keeper Hasabel/Normal Antorus Guide - Duration: 5:52.

Hi!

I'm Hazel, and you are about to be SO up to speed.

This video is all about the Portal Keeper Hasabel fight on Normal and Heroic difficulty.

Hasabel's basically the Legion Traffic Controller and we're about to get all up in her crosswalk.

You fight her on this main platform, and throughout the fight she'll power up portals to various

worlds, or more accurately, smaller platforms.

You get a fire portal at 90%, a fel portal at 60 and a shadow portal at 30%.

Each one will have a themed boss that needs to be dealt with ASAP, and somebody must be

on the main platform at all times or else everyone dies.

First thing you'll be dealing with on the main platform is Reality Tear and Bursting

Darkness, aka the tank mechanic.

Reality Tear is a 30 second DoT which will stack, and then explode for raid damage when

allowed to expire.

The more stacks, the bigger the explosion.

She does it every 12-14 seconds so you generally want to swap on about three stacks.

Healers should be ready with raid heals if it stacks up much higher than that, which

it might one we get into all the portal business.

Collapsing World goes under the boss, ooks like this, and it's impossible to miss unless

you're actually watching netflix.

If that gets ya it'll do big damage and potentially knock you off the platform, which would be

deeply embarrasing.

It's even got a cast time so you can see it coming and start moving away from the boss.

Felstorm Barrage is the other super obvious ground mechanic.

Over about ten seconds, these big green firelines will spawn and then explode.

Those also do knockback and hurt like heck so keep moving to the safe corners until it's

over.

She'll also cast Transport Portal, which summons adds designed specifically to annoy you.

There are spiders which will web you, making it harder to avoid the last two things we

talked about.

There's feldogs, which do a Fenryr style interrupt howl and then imps, which on Normal don't

do much of anything.

On Heroic, the imps cast Fiery Detonation which can be interrupted and is just gnarly

if you don't.

If a couple of those get off your raid is literal toast so keep an eye on it and kill

the adds quickly.

When Hasabel reaches 90% health, she'll power up the Fire Portal Xoroth.

Note that you can go up to any portal at any time, there just won't be anything there if

it's not active.

While the portal is active there'll be a boss inside, and the main platform players will

take raid damage until it's dead.

All of the portals have this Unstable Portal mechanic which means bad things happen if

the boss stays up longer than 45 seconds.

You'll want to send half or more of the raid including a tank and a couple healers through

the active portal to deal with it.

Inside Fire Portal Xoroth you'll find Vulcanar.

He casts Flames of Xoroth, which is kickable and has a 10 yard radius.

Don't be closer than 10 yards unless you need to be, and set up a kick rotation if it starts

to be a problem.

He'll also toss out Supernovas, which you should move out of unless you feel like taking

a bajillion damage.

While all that's happening you'll see these Everburning Flames around the floor.

Touching one makes it stick to you for 10 seconds.

When the DoT ends or is removed, the flame falls back onto the floor.

A few players need to pick up a couple of those and actually run them into the purple

Portal for later.

Drop them along the portal-side of the shadow platform, then head back to rejoin the fight.

At 60%, Hasabel powers up Fel Portal Rancora.

Inside you'll find Lady Dacidion, and her Poison Essence will immediately chunk everyone

for 10%.

She casts Felsilk Wrap, which webs players indefinitely until the web is destroyed.

Those don't have a ton of health so anyone can swap to help break out their friends.

Instead of flames, you'll find this Caustic Slime goo on the floor on this platform.

Touching that does damage over 20 seconds, and removing it triggers a Caustic Detonation.

That's a painful 10 yard explosion that apparently can be used to remove a stack of Aegis of

Flames.

I'm gonna be really honest with you, I have dug through this fight and nowhere do I see

ANY mention of an Aegis of Flames.

However, should one turn up you can take it off by dispelling a Goo debuff within ten

yards of it.

Whether you have the slime on purpose or by accident make sure you're clear of other players

when it gets dispelled so you don't clip anyone with your Caustic Detonation.

At 30% health, she'll open up the final portal to the Shadow Land Nathreza.

Lord Eilgar is the boss here and things will be very, very dark.

Moving within 35 yards of Eilgar will apply the Delusions debuff.

That lasts ten minutes, prevents ALL outgoing healing and absorbs, and restores 2% mana

per second.

It's dispellable, so if mana is tight at this point healers can deliberately rotate taking

the debuff and dispelling it off each other.

Otherwise, healers need to stay at absolute Max range or else you can't heal.

To complicate that, it's very, very dark.

Mind fog means visibility is awful in here which means at max range you can't actually

target your friends to heal them.

To counter that, healers and probably ranged should stand within 10 yards of the Everburning

Flames we dropped earlier.

Problem solved.

Eilgar will be stacking Corrupt on players within 20 yards of him, doing damage and stacking

a nasty debuff on them.

To make that even more fun, players that step into the heart of the platform will get Cloying

Shadows, taking 50% reduced healing for 30 seconds.

If your raid failed to bring in flames like we did and your healers can't heal, you are

absolutely going to lose people here.

When Cloying Shadows ends or is dispelled, it triggers an 8 yard Hungering Gloom explosion.

Hungering Gloom won't actually affect the exploding player, but anyone within 8 yards

takes big damage and can't be healed for a while which will make them very cranky with

you.

Spread out with the Cloying Shadows, and healers should be really mindful to not dispel someone

before they've moved into some clear space.

All things considered the purple platform is super gross and it's a valid time to pop

cooldowns just to get done and out of there.

Back home on the main platform, the entrances of each portal will be doing area damage starting

from activation and lasting until the end of the fight.

Be careful not to wander into that while avoiding Collapsing World and Felstorm Barrages.

This is high movement-the fight, and it's very much about watching your feet.

So, that is Portal Keeper Hasabel in Antorus, the Burning Throne!

If this video helped you out please consider giving it a thumbs up.

Check out my channel and subscribe for more raid guides and other useful WoW videos.

Thanks for watching, have a great time in raid and a wonderful, wonderful day!

Bye!

SPOOKY BOOKS 👻 FOR SCAREDY CATS || 2017 - Duration: 9:23.

Hey guys, it's Emily. Happy Halloween to you all! For today's video I thought I

would do something a little in the Halloween spirit and recommend some

spooky books that are perfect for those of us who are too chicken to read actual

horror books, but still want to get in the Halloween spirit. Emily why are

you doing a Halloween video and you're not in costume? Well first of all I'm

just lazy. I'm just being lazy and that's it. No other reason. But I do have this

small pumpkin to make up for it. I got two packs of these from Target and they

are all over my room right now because I'm super festive except for the fact that I'm

not wearing a Halloween costume, but that's fine. Moving on... This is going to

be a really wide range books. We've got some middle grade, some young adult, and

adult books, and then they're also a very wide range in terms of how scary they

are. Some of these are kind of toeing the line between just spooky/creepy and

outright horror, but I promise I will tell you if a book is on the scarier

side. Starting out I have two books that are children's books by the same author

and those are Coraline which I have the physical copy of and

The Graveyard Book. Both of these are by Neil Gaiman, and the reason I started

this video out with two Neil Gaimon books is because he has done a tradition

of something called the All Hallows Read. All Hallows Read is an annual event

where you're just supposed to give someone a scary book to read--spooky for

me because I do not really own scary books. I think it's such a wonderful

tradition. So that's why we started out the gate with Neil Gaiman. Coraline

is about a girl who finds a portal to a parallel version of her world.

It's basically like everything that she's used to, but made a lot more fun.

Except for the fact that her parents in this alternate world have buttons sewn

to their eyes and they want Coraline to sew buttons to her eyes. So there's

your. premise. It's creepy. There's a great Neil Gaiman quote about how kids read

this book as an adventure story and adults read it as really creepy. It

didn't scare me too much, but it's perfectly spooky. I just, I love this

so much! I think it's a great spooky read. Obviously it's a children's book so it's

not actually horror. And the other Neil Gaiman book that I would recommend for a

spooky but not outright scary Halloween read is The Graveyard Book. This is one

of my all-time favorite Gaiman books. It is a bildungsroman kind of based

loosely, very loosely on The Jungle Book. Except

instead of a boy wandering into the jungle and being raised by animals, it's

about a boy who wanders into a graveyard and is raised by the ghosts. This has

less of a traditional narrative than Coraline does. It feels more like a

series of vignettes that then kind of come together to tell a complete story,

as opposed to traditional straightforward narrative structure. I

love it so much. Obviously, ghosts, graveyard--spooky

read. It's not outright horror, although there is some mention of murder, so

something to keep in mind. But I love this book so much. I think it is a

perfect book to read on Halloween. Finally moving on to the next recommendation, and

that is Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire.

I think it's technically adult, but it's generally discussed as if it's YA.

I think in part, not in part, entirely, because the characters who we follow in this

series, which is called the Wayward Children series, all are teenagers. This

is book 2 in the Wayward Children series. I don't think you need to read them in

order. The first book is Every Heart a Doorway. I absolutely loved it, and that

book is about a boarding school for kids who have gone through portals to other

worlds and then returned to our world and been like, "Wow this is really boring." And

then there's a murder mystery wrapped up in that. And while I do think that could

also qualify as a spooky book recommendation that's not super, super

scary, I think this one works better. Again, I don't think you need to read

Every Heart a Doorway to pick up Down Among the Sticks and Bones. This follows two of the

characters that we are introduced to in Every Heart a Doorway, but it's set

before that period. So this is about them going into this other crazy world. And

the world to which they travel is called the Moors, and it's basically every

romantic horror book put into one universe. So it's inspired by

Frankenstein and Dracula and all that kind of stuff, and while those things are

all scary horror stuff, this is not that scary. There's no jump scares.

It's very atmospheric. It's very spooky and creepy and dark, but I don't think

this would qualify as outright horror. And I just love it so much! On top of

that super cool plot, it's also about the dangers of parents who heavily prescribe

gender roles to their children, and it is it's it's just so good. Next I have a

classic and that is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I read

for the first time a couple of month or two ago and I absolutely loved it this

is so spirit and there's some kind of spooky creepy stuff going on but really

I think it's that atmospheric element that makes it perfect for Halloween yes

is very long so like maybe you could start on Halloween and then finish it in

November and it's perfect for the cold weather months this is such a great book

next I have some historical fiction young adult and that is the diviners by

Libba Bray this is book one in her diviner series it is the coolest cover

this serious gone through three cover changes and I'm just a little bit about

it it's so so so good this is set in 1920s New York we mostly

follow Eddie Evie loop I'm not sure she has a supernatural ability in which she

can hold an object in her hand and then like learn secrets about it super cool

and she has been sent to New York she got into a little trouble in her

hometown and so she goes to live with her uncle who runs an occultist Museum

so full of occult artifacts it's great it's spooky and creepy and Atmospheric

and so much fun the dish has elements that I think are a little bit scarier

than the other books that I recommend it so far the antagonist and this is some

kind of like than the level in spirit and there's lots of murder

so that's scarier but it's still not outright horror this is so great next I

have a super super fun cute book it's not scary at all but it is a little

spooky and fun and that is war in the 13th or the all-seeing eye this is a

middle grade book I'm not really sure it is like a written novel but it is also

really heavily Illustrated and the illustrations are just like so cool it's

Chris one line work and it's all done in black white and red I had the time of my

life reading this stories written by Tanya Del Rio and it's all based on a

character that whilst all created and then obviously whilst all illustrated

the whole book what I say it's creepy like you can kind of get a sense just by

the cover in the artwork but there's no outright scariness in here it is so good

it's so cute and it's absolutely gorgeous next up I have the changeling

by Victor the wall I think I said Laval in the last video that I did I apologize

for getting that wrong the correct pronunciation is love all this is a

modern fairy tale fairy tale of a sense of like the very old-school fairy tales

that or super-dark in those who follow a

black couple what we do predominantly follow the man his name is Apollo that

had a child together things seem to be going wonderfully until Emma

Apollo's wife starts to seem kind of disconnected as if she is exhibiting

postpartum depression but then she commits this atrocity and the story goes

from there over time more and more fantastical elements are woven into the

story at first it seems very like realistic literary fiction but then we

go into fantasy and horror fiction and it is just so so so well done this might

be the serious book that I'm recommending a lot of the actual worst

scariest parts of this book don't take place on the page they are alluded to

very heavily you know what's going on but he doesn't ever have to actually

write the words of what's going on so instead of saying that this book is

scary I would say this book is full of dread if you're so anxious about this

thing that you are 90% sure is going to happen and that happens and then oh my

god what's going on but you don't really explicitly read it there are a couple

little bits of violence that you do explicitly read this is an absolutely

brilliant book I loved it I cannot wait to read more of the Baals work if you

think you can go a little bit further into scary territory you should

definitely definitely read this obviously I could not have a list of

spooky books without including my absolute favorite book that just totally

owns my heart and blew me away this year if you watch my channel I think you know

where I'm going with this and that is my favorite thing as monsters by email

Ferriss this is a graphic novel it's the best graphic novel I've ever read it is

one of the best books I've ever read in this book we follow Karen Reyes who is a

12 year old girl she thinks that being human is dumb and sucks and she would

like to be a werewolf so she draws herself as a werewolf girl

which you can see on the back here so a lot of spookiness is kind of this look

where it's an O Maj too campy horror films of the 60s the plot revolves

around a murder mystery a woman and Karen's apartment complex is found dead

she's been shot and the police rule it was suicide but

Karen believes that it's actually murder she's gonna Don her fedora and trench

coat and go full Newar detective and figure out what's going

even though this is about a 12 year old it is very much an adult book there are

some explicit sexual content and it deals with some really really really

heavy topics the woman who's found dead was a Holocaust survivor and so while

her story is often horrifying it doesn't ever feel like a horror book it's deeply

upsetting at times but scary is not the word for it I think it is absolutely

phenomenal gotta read it it is such a great book for Halloween so that's it

all of my spooky reads for scaredy-cats I hope you have a wonderful Halloween if

you like this video give it a thumbs up hit subscribe to see them on my face you

can find me on twitter at possibly lit and on instagram possibly literate and i

will see you next time

Dave Martinez - Dave Martínez Ventures - Duration: 2:45.

Hello!

My name is Dave Martínez of Dave Martínez Ventures from San Francisco, California, in Silicon Valley.

What I do is I speak all over the world, taking about entrepreneurship,

teaching the young people of today building startups and creating startups.

But what is the secret?

They all wanna built a "Silicon Valley hack".

What is the secret sauce?

Well, it's hard work.

Startup, si eres joven lo has estado pensando, es un trabajo de 24/7 días a la semana.

You have to work every day, day and night to make it work.

Hard work pays off!

It's like my father told me many, many years ago:

"Hard work pays off, go big or go home".

On my words, you have to work every day to understand what a dollar and a peso is worth.

That's how it works.

If you don´t know the value of that always have to reinvest in your company,

so that way you can see from years to come.

You wanna help other people help you grow your company,

that's how we grow.

Remember this...

You can't do everything by yourself, you need people, creating networks, networking.

That's how it's done!

Even if you can do everything, find someone that can help you cause that's important.

Great teams is what succeeds.

All the greatest corporations and companies that we built were built on the team and the people.

I look at the person, not the product.

Is the person that makes the product grow.

That's the secret sauce, you got to have it in you.

The passion on your product has to come out,

the same when it comes to raising money and talking to venture capitalists and angel investors.

They wanna know you, the person, before the product.

You can then grasp in all these great marketing evaluations.

This is the secret, the secret is you, you the entrepreneur.

You wanna know and believe in you cause that is what we are betting on.

That's how we do at Dave Martínez Ventures, we built the future.

Thank you for having us here at AREA in Monterrey, México.

American pumpkin pie (CC Eng Sub) | JamilaCuisine - Duration: 6:22.

Hello, everyone! I'm Jamila,

welcome to my kitchen!

We're going to make today American pumpkin pie,

so let's see the needed ingredients to start.

Ingredients:

For the crust we need:

300 g flour,

150 g cold butter,

3-4 tbsp. cold water,

1 egg,

1 pinch of salt.

For the filling we need:

1 sliced butternut squash,

200 g brown sugar,

200 ml double cream,

80 g sour cream,

3 eggs,

1 tsp of cinnamon.

First of all, we're going to make the crust.

Put the flour into a large bowl,

add the cold butter,

it is 80% fat butter,

and the salt.

Start to mix it with your finger tips

until well combined.

When the mixture resembles the breadcrumbs, add the egg.

Combine them.

Gradually, pour the cold water

and knead it until the dough is smooth and soft.

When the dough is like this,

remove it from the bowl.

Shape it into a ball,

cover it with cling film,

and place it into the fridge until the we make the filling.

To cook the butternut squash and to bake the pie,

I'm going to use Tefal Optigrill snacking and baking.

It has an automatic sensor for cooking,

the time and the temperature are automatically adjusted

depending on the thickness and the number of portions on the grill.

The lighting led allows you to keep watch of the cooking process,

so it will be yellow when the dish is less than thoroughly cooked,

orange when is medium cooked

and red when it is thoroughly cooked.

The 6 automatic cooking programmes for:

burgers,

chicken,

sandwich,

sausages,

red meat,

fish

and the program for frozen foods

give you perfect results every time.

More, it has an snack and baking accessory,

which allows you to bake, to heat up, to reheat or to brown different dishes

due to its manual mode with the 4 temperature settings.

This way you can make

pizza, lasagna, pies or cakes as you desire.

To bake the butternut squash, I'm going to start the grill,

select the manual mode,

at level 2, orange light

press the Ok button and wait for the grill to warm up.

When the grill has warmed up,

place the butternut squash slices on it.

Cook it for about 5 min. or until the butternut squash is well cooked.

The butternut squash is done now.

Take it out.

It is already the 2nd row. I have 5 more slices and I'm done.

It is well cooked.

Place the last butternut squash slices.

Cook them.

When the butternut squash is cooked, mash it using a potatoes masher.

Mash it into a paste.

When the butternut squash is mashed,

add the sugar,

combine them.

You may use also white sugar if you like.

But the brown sugar will give it a very nice taste.

Add the eggs

and mix it well.

In the end, add the double cream,

the sour cream

and the cinnamon.

Mix it well.

The filling is ready, so let it aside and go on with the dough.

Sprinkle flour on the dough,

on both sides.

Roll it into a thin sheet.

When is rolled into a thin sheet,

fold it.

Place it in the baking accessory of Tefal Optigrill.

Set it in the tray.

When the dough sheet is in the accessory,

trim the excess dough using your hands.

To bake the pie, remove the lower plate of the grill,

and replace it with the baking accessory.

Add the filling.

Close the grill.

Start the grill, set it on manual mode, level 2,

the yellow light,

start the Ok button.

Bake the pie for about 40 min.,

or until set.

After 40 min. the pie set and is done.

Remove the accessory from the grill,

and let the pie to reach the room temperature.

Put it in the fridge for at least 4 h or better overnight.

Pumpkin pie stayed overnight in the fridge,

and I overturned it on a cutting board.

It overturns easily

because the Tefal baking and snacking accessory is non-sticky.

The pie looks wonderful,

the filling is very creamy,

the dough is flaky,

and the pie is amazing.

I really hope that you will try it very soon and that you will like it.

Bye-bye!

NMTC Open Submissions with Alexander Gemignani - Duration: 3:57.

Hi there!

I'm Alexander Gemignani and I'm the new Artistic Director for the National Music Theater Conference

at the O'Neill Center.

I have a long history as an actor as being part of new work.

It always makes me engaged in a very, very special way.

I love watching the process.

I love watching writers hash out ideas with each other, with directors, with casts, with

music directors.

And then later in my career as I started to write my own pieces, I hungered for those opportunities

to be in a room.

To really get in there and ask big questions, make sure everybody's on the same page, all

the while allowing new ideas to, you know, be birthed from this collaboration is- is

what makes it particularly special, I think, in musicals.

I feel like I was born to do new work, and work that challenges and work that stimulates

and work that is asking bigger questions and changing the form.

That's what I'm really interested in as an artistic director.

I'm looking for those pieces that are either stories we have not heard before or stories

that are being told in ways we are unfamiliar with and people who are bold enough to be

making choices with their work, that allow us to see humanity from a new perspective.

The two weeks that the writers spend there, they get a first-class creative team,

a first-class cast, and unmatched dramaturgical support.

They also get the chance to present their musical four times.

Between those performances there are days in which you can do rewrites,

execute new ideas.

You also have this very front-footed energy towards "Okay, I can be bold and I can try

this thing out in front of an audience and see how these 65, 80, 100 people feel about

this character doing this and then three days later, during another presentation,

having that character do something completely different.

Cutting a song, putting in a new song, changing the arc of a whole storyline perhaps.

I don't really know of another place that offers all those things together.

The Dream Orchestration is sort of what I like to call a nice celebration for each musical

that is chosen for the summer.

(Michael Starobin:) Let's hear the song first, as it is in the show,

and then, I'll come and talk about what

I tried to do with it.

(Alexander Gemignani:) The last few years Michael Starobin

has been on campus at the O'Neill.

After about the first week of each piece's rehearsal, the composer and Michael get together

and choose one song from their musical for Michael to digitally sequence an orchestration of.

This of course allows the writing team to hear the potential in their piece,

hear where sonically it could live.

It's really a great opportunity to also get a truly seasoned expert opinion on your score.

So, thirty pages of the script, five demo songs, and a Statement of Objectives.

The more specific language you engage in that Statement of Objectives, the better.

We really want to be engaging with teams to figure out how resources at the O'Neill can

support your development.

We're also adding a video demo element this year.

A composer might have a video demo of a song that really puts the song in the best light.

Or may not have the resources, let's say, to go into a studio and make a high-quality

vocal demo.

But just again, the video demo doesn't replace the audio demo, we still need those five.

My hope is that we receive pieces from people who have never applied before.

I know we will receive fantastic work from seasoned pros.

And I encourage that work.

But I think also that the O'Neill is a home for first-time writers, first-time submitters,

people who maybe have felt underrepresented.

I really strongly encourage all people to apply.

Give us your best.

It will be a life-changing experience.
