What To Do If You Get Attacked By a Shark? - Duration: 7:31.

"Don't go in the water," was the tagline of the 1975 Steven Spielberg movie, Jaws,

a film that scared the bejesus out of anyone that watched it, and to some extent seeded

shark phobia (actually called galeophobia) into the minds of people all over the world.

It might be old, but that film is still viewed by just about anyone as the scariest shark

film ever made.

You could say, however, that a movie that depicts a creature so vicious and hellbent

on destruction isn't too realistic.

Sharks generally don't torment the public with such enthusiasm.

But sharks do kill people, or maim people, or even just nudge people.

And today we are going to give you the rundown on how to get out of a situation like that,

in this episode of the Infographics Show, What to Do If You Get Attacked By a Shark.

Let's first have a look at the likelihood of you being bitten or killed by a shark,

by looking at some statistics.

Fortunately, there is data out there that tells us about all the latest attacks.

We can look at shark attack maps that tell us that over just the last few years, there

have been numerous attacks, some of which led to death.

For example, the death of a 34-year old in the waters around South Africa in 2017.

According to the website trackingsharks.com, the man was diving for abalone when a "shark

struck from underneath and dragged him underwater."

A witness said they heard him scream, the shark came back up shaking the man in its

jaws, and then it was game over.

In a nearby spot, also in 2017, a 14-year old boy was bitten when surfing.

He survived and got away with just needing a few stitches.

In fact, contrary to popular belief, a lot of people only sustain minor injuries when

sharks bite.

You don't always lose a huge chunk of you.

The International Shark Attack File is the place to go to understand how many shark attacks

there are, as it has comprehensive data from way back.

It actually gives you a map of shark attacks from 1580 to the present day, but obviously

scores of attacks will not have been reported.

Nonetheless, let's have a look at the world's danger spots.

Number one is the USA, with 1,407 attacks.

Number two is Australia with 621 attacks, and number three is South Africa with 252

attacks.

Following that you have Brazil (104), New Zealand (51), Papua New Guinea (48), Mascarene

Islands (Reunion Island) (42) and Mexico (40).

This means lots of you watching should listen closely.

Sharks even attack in the chilly waters off the coast of the UK, as happened in 2017 to

a surfer on the South Devon coast.

The result, a bloody thumb.

It was only a smooth hound shark, which aren't very dangerous.

But if you come from Australia, where that has been a rise in attacks over recent years,

you might meet a shark that will do much more than chew on your thumb.

There were 15 attacks in the country in 2017, but only one was fatal.

In 2015, there were 33 attacks, and two were fatal.

According to research, 2017 was just an average year with 88 attacks and five fatalities worldwide.

60 percent of attacks were in the USA.

Ok, so now you know there's a very small chance you'll be attacked by a shark, but

as the British lottery used to say, "It could be you."

What are your odds of being attacked by a shark?

Well, we can say this, sharks kill 1 in 3,748,067 people.

Fireworks kill 1 in 340,733 people.

Lightning kills 1 in 79,746 people.

1 in 218 people die from falling and 1 in 63 from the flu.

So, let's just say your chances of being attacked are very, very low.

In fact, according to data cited by CNN in 2016 (the data was from 1999-2007), the most

dangerous animals to people in the U.S. in terms of what will kill you was easily cattle:

cows, horses, etc.

Hornets, wasps, and bees were next, followed by dogs, insects, snakes, spiders, crocodiles

and alligators, and in last place sharks.

The thing with crocs and alligators is that they have a better attack-death rate than

sharks.

So, before anything else, how do we avoid getting attacked rather than what do we do

after we've been attacked?

Statistics tell us that the people most likely to suffer an attack are those that are surfing,

belly-boarding, or just floating on an inflatable.

Next are swimmers, followed by divers, and then just some unfortunate folks getting in

or out of the water.

Almost 90 percent of attacks happen to men, but that's got nothing to do with a shark's

overparticular palate, it's just more men seem to be out there in the water doing the

things that attract sharks.

Divers, and especially surfers, are often alone, and shark experts tell us that you

are less likely to be attacked if you are in a group.

They also tell us not to go out too far, swim in murky water, or swim at night when sharks

are most active.

Don't go out into the water with an open wound or if you are menstruating, as the sharks

can smell your sweet-tasting blood.

You also shouldn't wear shiny jewelry or bright colors, as to a shark, that might look

like fish.

While you are in the water, don't splash around like crazy as this also attracts unwanted

attention.

Another thing is, if there is sea life around you and it suddenly bolts off in all directions

as if it heard a final boarding call to ocean-utopia, beware, 'cos that could mean a shark has

entered the area.

Lastly, don't go out if you know it's an infested area or there are warnings, but

that should be obvious.

Ok, you've done all that, but you still see a shark in the water near you.

What to do now?

Well, first you might hope it's not a Great White shark, as they are the biggest human

killers, followed by the Tiger shark and the speedy Shortfin Mako.

If you see a shark, your first port of call should be the beach or back onto the boat.

Don't swim like a crazy person or scream, and try not to have a panic attack, leave

calmly and coolly.

If you cannot, swim towards a group of people.

If none of that is possible, and you are out there alone, just stay as still as you can.

If that didn't work, and the thing nudges up against you and then swims away, it is

highly possible it will come back try to take a bite.

If it's a little one, and it just took a nibble, try and stay calm as often sharks

won't like the taste of you.

But what if it looks like it's going for a full-on chew?

If possible, punch the sucker on its nose as hard as you can.

If you have a weapon, use that.

This is usually quite successful.

Sharks don't like getting punched, just as humans don't.

The thing is, experts tell us if it still comes back, that may mean it isn't scared,

and punching will become less effective.

If it grabs you in its jaws again, the next thing is to try and claw at its eyes and also

the gill openings.

These are the sharks weak spots, a bit like men getting kicked in the nuts.

At this point, it's kind of do or die, and apparently you should now go all out.

It's time to get crazy, because sharks respect power and they might back down.

It will keep swimming as it needs to stay alive and pump oxygen through its gills.

It may not take you in one go.

If it does come back and grabs hold of you again, do not rip yourself out of its mouth

as this will take a chunk of you with it, so just keep clawing and punching.

The same goes for a friend if they are trying to help you: don't pull, punch.

We can give you some good news here in that many attacks just involve this one bite, because

we humans are not ideal food for sharks.

In fact, that limb you lost could have been for nothing, as one expert told National Geographic,

"They spit us out because we're too bony."

We are hard to digest for sharks and so upon biting us, they realize they made a bad menu

choice and leave the restaurant, and your half-eaten body.

If they did like us, there would be many, many more fatalities in the world.

We'll leave you with this, a shark attack victim describing what it felt like when a

shark took a bite of him: "When he clamped onto me, it was a god-awful crunch.

I heard the crunching of teeth plowing through bone, but it didn't hurt."

Maybe that's reassuring in a way.

So, how do you think you would react if you were suddenly attacked by a shark?

Corey Feldman says he was stabbed in attempted murder but police are telling a different story - Duration: 3:15.

Corey Feldman says he was stabbed in attempted murder but police are telling a different

story

Something odd is going on with Corey Feldman.

The star stated on Twitter that he was attacked Tuesday night in an incident the actor called

an attempted murder. He claimed the LAPD was investigating the incident as an "attempted

homicide" but police told Fox News that's not the case.

Feldman wrote in all caps early Wednesday morning, "IM IN THE HOSPITAL! I WAS ATTACKED

2NITE! A MAN OPENED MY CAR DOOR & STABBED ME W SOMETHING! PLEASE SAY PRAYERS 4 US! THANK

GOD IT WAS ONLY MYSELF & MY SECURITY IN THE CAR, WHEN 3 MEN APPROACHED! WHILE SECURITY

WAS DISTRACTED, W A GUY A CAR PULLED UP & ATTACKED! IM OK!"

In a follow-up tweet, Feldman claimed the LAPD was investigating his case -- a claim

the LAPD denied to Fox News.

Officer Luis Garcia told us that while Feldman was stopped at an intersection Tuesday night,

the former child star stated that an unknown male made a stabbing motion at his stomach

and fled. He then drove himself to a hospital. Upon the investigation [it was] determined

there were no lacerations to his abdomen," Garcia said adding that Feldman could not

describe his alleged attacker or the weapon to police.

Feldman, who has made headlines recently for speaking out about alleged pedophiles in Hollywood,

said on Twitter he was targeted.

"I HAVE HAD MOUNTING THREATS ON ALL [social media] PLATFORMS BY THIS VILE 'WOLFPACK' & THIS

IM SURE IS A RESULT OF THOSE NEGATIVE ACTIONS! I HAVE REASON 2 BELIEVE ITS ALL CONNECTED!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! HOW SICK R THESE PPL?!?"

Feldman's hospitalization comes six weeks after the 46-year-old actor was cleared in

an LAPD sexual battery investigation from an alleged incident last year.

Feldman has publicly stated he was molested by powerful people in the entertainment industry

when he was an '80s child star. He has said his close friend ? the late Corey Haim ? was

raped when he was a child by the same industry predators.

Feldman claimed on "Dr. Oz" in November that Jon Grissom was one of his abusers. He also

told Megyn Kelly that convicted sex offender Marty Weiss harmed him. However, the LAPD

dropped an investigation into his claims later that month.

The actor expressed concerns for his security at the end of October. As part of an Indiegogo

campaign, he asked for donations to help pay for security.

"Ever since I discussed the fact that I have this plan, my life has turned to utter chaos,"

Feldman said in October. "Ive been silenced my whole life, but just over the past few

days since I made that announcement, Ive been arrested, I had a near-death experience

last night where I felt like I was almost going to be killed. Two trucks came speeding

at me at the same time on a crosswalk."

He added, "Im very alone. I need to protect myself and I need to protect my family,

he said. I need additional security and I need a legal team to help represent me so

that I can fulfill this mission."

Why being politically correct is using free speech well | Martin Amis - Duration: 3:26.

I think it's indivisible, freedom of speech: I mean, either you've got it or you haven't.

And every diminution of freedom of speech diminishes everyone and lessens the currency

of freedom of speech.

But I feel nothing but unease when it's done lightly.

It has to be earned.

The controversial statement has to be earned.

It can't just be tossed off.

You have to be able to back it up.

So I would urge civilized standards of moderation on both sides.

It has to be understood that freedom of speech isn't just a sort of decadent frippery that

we gather around us like all our other comforts and privileges.

Democracy can't work without freedom of speech.

It's an absolute cornerstone of democracy.

So we have to be very responsible about this freedom but there's no giving it up or modifying

it, even.

I would say it's an offshoot of what's solidified under political correctness, and

I'm a fan of political correctness.

No one ever says, 'Oh, I'm very politically correct,' but, in fact, it's good that we

are—not the outer fringe PC, but raising of the standards about what can be said, and

exclusion of things you could have said and got away with it 10 or 20 years ago and now

seems discordant.

And who wants to go back to being opposed to gay marriage?

The ease with which that became the orthodoxy was, I thought, tremendously encouraging,

and the idea that Donald Trump has cast off these "shackles" and we can go back to

being brutes again is a terrible prospect.

PC has been an agent for certain sort of evolutionary acceleration towards progressive ideas, and

I think that's been very good.

I mean, when I look back at my very early fiction of 40-odd years ago I'm shocked

and made uneasy by some of the liberties I took that I certainly wouldn't take now.

It doesn't interfere with the freedom of writers, political correctness—it gives

you challenges every now and then, you have to sort of work around it a bit.

But I never resent that, and I think it's self-improvement on a general scale that we've

all responded to.

'Go After Dante' Ep. 7 Official Clip | Homeland | Season 7 - Duration: 1:30.

[keypad beeping]

Just had a bad conversation with a federal judge,

followed by a truly terrible conversation with the President.

So...recess is over. Max, back to your desk.

Saul.

What?

He may have found something.

-What is it? -Something Carrie said,

about Dante's trips overseas-- to take a look at them,

so I did, while they were looking

at where Simone was traveling, raising money, supposedly.

Yeah. And?

Five points of congruence--

Riga, Dubrovnik, Belgrad, Berat,

Sofia.

Same time, same place.

We got what we could on Simone. Is there more? Probably.

But how quickly we can develop that is anyone's guess.

If you need to talk to someone now...

Go after Dante.

Why The Price Of Coke Didn't Change For 70 Years | Planet Money | NPR - Duration: 3:46.

Coca-Cola: crisp, refreshing

and, just to be clear, not an NPR corporate sponsor.

We swear, they didn't pay us.

It's also a bizarre economics aberration.

From 1886 to the 1950s —

through continued industrialization,

several wars involving the U.S.,

and prohibition — a Coca-Cola cost 5 cents,

and frankly, that is really weird.

Ask and any economics expert and they'll tell you,

Prices usually change over time.

So how did Coke keep their price the same for so long?

Well, it has to do with two lawyers from Chattanooga.

In 1899, those lawyers pay a visit

to the president of Coca-Cola,

a guy named Asa Candler.

And they tell him,

"We're interested in this new thing."

"Selling drinks in bottles."

They want to buy the bottling rights.

The way the story goes is Candler just said, "You're out of your mind,

it's not going to work.

Coke is a soda fountain business."

And they said, "Well, look, you know.

Give us the rights anyway."

And, so, he said, "Yeah, OK, I'll sell you the syrup at, uhh, 90 cents a gallon."

In agreeing to do that, Candler did something that companies never do.

He agreed to sell his product, the syrup, to bottlers for a fixed price forever.

The contract had no end date.

Now, this was about to be a problem for the Coca-Cola company because now any increase in

price down at the corner store, that doesn't help them.

The profit goes to the bottlers and the retailers.

In fact, if they raise the price, it hurts Coke.

If Coke goes up to a dime, fewer people are going to buy Coke,

and Coke sells less syrup.

So, if you're Coca-Cola, you want somehow to keep the price down at 5 cents.

What do you do?

Well, one thing you do is you blanket the entire country with ads for 5-cent Coke.

This was like, so clutch.

Coca-Cola is taking control of pricing away from the bottlers and the corner stores and

anyone selling a bottle of Coke for more than 5 cents was just going to look like a jerk.

Coca-Cola was finally able to renegotiate their contract with the bottlers in 1921,

and they might have changed the price then, but they couldn't.

They were trapped.

Coca-Cola said early on, "A Coke costs a nickel."

It put it on billboards and ads and painted it on buildings, and people got used to it.

It felt like a promise.

In a way, all prices kind of feel like a promise.

Once we see a price on something we have this feeling

that it's some innate property of the thing.

That it shouldn't change.

And so the ads that Coke had run so prominently ended up trapping them.

The thing that finally undid the nickel Coke was inflation.

The price of ingredients started to go up.

But to this day, people feel very strongly about a fixed price for Coke.

Back in 1999, the CEO suggested charging more for vending machine Coke on hot days

and was met with widespread outrage.

Whether it's a nickel or a dollar, people have a way of getting used to their prices.

<b>SID: HELLO.</b>

<b>I'M SID ROTH YOUR</b> <b>INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER</b>

<b>WITH MAURICE SKLAR.</b>

<b>HE STARTED OUT AT AGE FOUR</b> <b>PLAYING THE VIOLIN.</b>

<b>IT LOOKS LIKE A WHO'S WHO.</b>

<b>HE WAS REALLY A CHILD</b> <b>PRODIGY.</b>

<b>HE WAS SELECTED BY MUSICAL</b> <b>AMERICA AS ONE OF THE TOP</b>

<b>YOUNG TEN ARTISTS OF THE</b> <b>YEAR IN 1990.</b>

<b>HE WENT TO JULLIARD.</b>

<b>HE GRADUATED FROM CURTIS.</b>

<b>THESE ARE WORLD CLASS</b> <b>PLACES TO TRAIN.</b>

<b>HE'S BEEN A GUEST SOLOIST</b> <b>AT SO MANY DIFFERENT</b>

<b>SYMPHONY ORCHESTRAS</b> <b>THROUGHOUT AMERICA.</b>

<b>IT'S TOO MANY FOR ME TO</b> <b>LIST.</b>

<b>BUT MAURICE, AS A CHILD</b> <b>PRODIGY.</b>

<b>HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU</b> <b>HAD YOUR FIRST VIOLIN IN</b>

<b>YOUR HAND?</b>

<b>MAURICE: I WAS FOUR WHEN I</b> <b>STARTED PLAYING.</b>

<b>SID: WAS IT A VIOLIN AS</b> <b>BIG AS A REGULAR ONE?</b>

<b>MAURICE: IT WAS ABOUT AN</b> <b>EIGHT SIZE INSTRUMENT,</b>

<b>PRETTY SMALL.</b>

<b>SID: AND DID YOU REBEL?</b>

<b>DID YOU LIKE IT?</b>

<b>WHAT'S A FOUR-YEAR-OLD</b> <b>DOING WITH A VIOLIN?</b>

<b>MAURICE: WELL MY FATHER IS</b> <b>A CELLIST AND MY</b>

<b>STEPMOTHER PLAYED VIOLIN</b> <b>THE ATLANTA SYMPHONY.</b>

<b>AND THEY STARTED ME ON THE</b> <b>VIOLIN PARTLY BECAUSE THEY</b>

<b>THOUGHT I HAD A GOOD EAR,</b> <b>YOU KNOW,</b>

<b>AND I COULD LISTEN WELL,</b> <b>AND THEY JUST WANTED ME TO</b>

<b>PLAY.</b>

<b>AND I BOTH LOVED AND HATED</b> <b>THE VIOLIN.</b>

<b>I HAD A VERY AMBIVALENT</b> <b>RELATIONSHIP TO IT.</b>

<b>SID: WELL I COULD</b> <b>UNDERSTAND THE LOVE.</b>

<b>WHY DID YOU HATE IT?</b>

<b>MAURICE: WELL WHEN I BEGAN</b> <b>TO PLAY AND I CAUGHT ON,</b>

<b>MY FATHER, WHO WANTED TO</b> <b>BE A PROFESSIONAL CELLIST,</b>

<b>HE DIDN'T MAKE IT</b> <b>PROFESSIONALLY AS A</b>

<b>CELLIST.</b>

<b>HE'S AN ATTORNEY, BUT HE</b> <b>STILL PLAYS CELLO IN BATON</b>

<b>ROUGE, LOUISIANA.</b>

<b>BUT HE REALLY, WHEN HE SAW</b> <b>THAT I HAD A GREAT GIFT ON</b>

<b>THE VIOLIN HE REALLY</b> <b>WANTED ME TO DO EVERYTHING</b>

<b>THAT HE NEVER GOT A CHANCE</b> <b>TO DO.</b>

<b>SID: A LOT OF PARENTS ARE</b> <b>THAT WAY.</b>

<b>MAURICE: YEAH.</b>

<b>AND SO HE ALWAYS SAY HE</b> <b>WAS EXTREMELY ENCOURAGING</b>

<b>TO ME.</b>

<b>HE REALLY WANTED ME TO</b> <b>PLAY.</b>

<b>SID: HOW MANY HOURS A DAY</b> <b>DID YOU PRACTICE?</b>

<b>MAURICE: I'D SAY</b> <b>DEFINITELY TWO,</b>

<b>AND THEN AS I GOT INTO IT</b> <b>LATER AFTER ABOUT 12,</b>

<b>11 OR 12, THREE AND FOUR</b> <b>HOURS A DAY,</b>

<b>SOMETIMES FIVE.</b>

<b>SID: FIVE HOURS A DAY.</b>

<b>THAT'S GOT TO BE TOUGH ON</b> <b>A YOUNG KID.</b>

<b>MAURICE: WELL IT'S WHAT IT</b> <b>TAKES TO LEARN THE VIOLIN,</b>

<b>BUT IT'S NOT EASY ON A</b> <b>KID,</b>

<b>NO.</b>

<b>SID: HOW MUCH OF A TASK</b> <b>MASTER WAS YOUR DAD?</b>

<b>MAURICE: WELL HE JUST</b> <b>WANTED ME TO DO THIS SO</b>

<b>MUCH AND I, MY MOM, MY</b> <b>REAL MOM AND HE SPLIT UP</b>

<b>WHEN I WAS TWO, AND SO I</b> <b>STAYED WITH MY FATHER,</b>

<b>AND THE COMBINATION OF</b> <b>SOME OF THESE THINGS AS A</b>

<b>VERY YOUNG PERSON PUT A</b> <b>LOT OF INSTABILITY IN MY</b>

<b>LIFE.</b>

<b>PLUS I COULD TALK TO YOU</b> <b>WHEN I WAS KID KIND OF</b>

<b>LIKE I DO NOW, AND SO I</b> <b>DIDN'T REALLY HAVE A</b>

<b>NORMAL CHILDHOOD.</b>

<b>SO ALL OF THAT TOGETHER,</b> <b>WHEN I GOT INTO MY TEENAGE</b>

<b>YEARS AND THEN BEYOND IT</b> <b>REALLY CREATED A LOT OF</b>

<b>PRESSURE FOR ME.</b>

<b>SID: TELL ME YOUR WORST</b> <b>MOMENT.</b>

<b>YOU SAID PRESSURE.</b>

<b>YOUR WORST MOMENT.</b>

<b>MAURICE: THE WORST MOMENT</b> <b>I COULD THINK OF,</b>

<b>I WAS AT MY LAST YEAR AT</b> <b>JULLIARD.</b>

<b>IT WAS IN 1986.</b>

<b>I WAS 23.</b>

<b>I WAS IN SUCH PAIN</b> <b>EMOTIONALLY,</b>

<b>I WAS ON, I WENT TO THE</b> <b>GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE</b>

<b>IN NEW YORK CITY TO JUMP</b> <b>OFF.</b>

<b>AND I WAS, I ALMOST DID</b> <b>JUMP OFF EXCEPT I COULDN'T</b>

<b>GET MY FEET TO MOVE.</b>

<b>BUT I GOT VERY CLOSE AND</b> <b>WAS ABOUT READY TO JUMP</b>

<b>OFF.</b>

<b>THAT'S PROBABLY THE WORST</b> <b>MOMENT.</b>

<b>SID: YOU SAID YOU WERE IN</b> <b>SUCH PAIN.</b>

<b>WHY WERE YOU IN SUCH PAIN?</b>

<b>WHAT WAS REALLY GOING ON,</b> <b>MAURICE?</b>

<b>MAURICE: WELL FOR YEARS,</b> <b>MY DAD WOULD TELL ME,</b>

<b>YOU KNOW, GOING THROUGH</b> <b>SCHOOL,</b>

<b>YOU'RE DIFFERENT, YOU'RE</b> <b>AN ARTIST,</b>

<b>YOU DON'T REALLY FIT IN,</b> <b>BUT WHEN YOU MAKE IT THEN</b>

<b>YOU'RE GOING TO BE HAPPY</b> <b>AND YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF,</b>

<b>AND YOU'LL BE WITH OTHER</b> <b>MUSICIANS THAT ARE LIKE</b>

<b>YOU.</b>

<b>AND THE MUSIC WORLD WAS</b> <b>PAINTED TO ME AS A VERY,</b>

<b>ALMOST A FAIRY TALE PLACE.</b>

<b>AND WHEN I FINALLY</b> <b>REALIZED THAT I HAD MADE</b>

<b>IT, WHATEVER THAT MEANT, I</b> <b>WAS PLAYING CONCERTS.</b>

<b>I WAS, BUT I WAS LONELY</b> <b>AND UNHAPPY,</b>

<b>AND I FELT LIKE I LOST</b> <b>MYSELF.</b>

<b>SID: WHEN YOU SAY YOU MADE</b> <b>IT AND YOU SAID YOU WERE</b>

<b>LONELY AND UNHAPPY, DID IT</b> <b>TILT?</b>

<b>I DON'T UNDERSTAND.</b>

<b>EXPLAIN.</b>

<b>MAURICE: WELL THAT WAS ONE</b> <b>OF THE REASONS.</b>

<b>I DIDN'T EITHER, EXCEPT I</b> <b>THINK IT HAD TO DO WITH</b>

<b>THERE WAS A SPIRITUAL</b> <b>COMPONENT TO IT IN</b>

<b>ADDITION TO JUST WORKING</b> <b>SO HARD FOR SOMETHING THAT</b>

<b>I THOUGHT I WOULD FIND</b> <b>WHERE I FIT IN THE WORLD</b>

<b>AND REALIZING THAT I DID</b> <b>NOT,</b>

<b>I COULD NOT FIND THAT.</b>

<b>I DID NOT FIT IN THIS</b> <b>WORLD.</b>

<b>AND THAT'S WHY I SAID,</b> <b>WELL I DON'T WANT TO LIVE</b>

<b>IN THIS WORLD ANYMORE</b> <b>THEN.</b>

<b>SO I WAS SUICIDAL FOR A</b> <b>YEAR ALMOST,</b>

<b>AFTER THAT.</b>

<b>SID: WHAT BROUGHT YOU OUT</b> <b>OF THIS?</b>

<b>MAURICE: WELL I HAD MET A</b> <b>MAN WHEN I WAS A STUDENT</b>

<b>AT CURTIS THAT WAS A</b> <b>CHRISTIAN MAN AND HE KNEW</b>

<b>THE BIBLE REALLY WELL.</b>

<b>I HAD, WHEN I WAS 13 YEARS</b> <b>OLD I HAD HAD AN</b>

<b>EXPERIENCE WHERE I HAD</b> <b>RECEIVED JESUS,</b>

<b>RECEIVED JESUS AS MESSIAH</b> <b>AND MY LORD,</b>

<b>BUT I DID NOT HAVE ANY</b> <b>GOOD TEACHING FROM THE</b>

<b>BIBLE AND I HAD NO CHURCH</b> <b>ENVIRONMENT.</b>

<b>I WAS JUST RAISED, YOU</b> <b>KNOW,</b>

<b>REAL SECULAR MUSIC WAS</b> <b>REALLY EVERYTHING TO ME.</b>

<b>SID: WOULD YOU HAVE SAID,</b> <b>EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE A</b>

<b>BELIEVER IN JESUS, THAT</b> <b>MUSIC WAS YOUR GOD?</b>

<b>MAURICE: YES.</b>

<b>YES.</b>

<b>AND I WANTED TO PLEASE MY</b> <b>DAD SO MUCH,</b>

<b>TOO.</b>

<b>YES, I LOVED THE ARTS AND</b> <b>MUSIC,</b>

<b>AND CLASSICAL MUSIC, AND I</b> <b>HAD WORKED SO HARD,</b>

<b>AND I WAS JUST EXHAUSTED,</b> <b>TOO.</b>

<b>I HAD JUST PUSHED FOR</b> <b>YEARS AND YEARS,</b>

<b>AND I WAS JUST AT A POINT</b> <b>WHERE I JUST BROKE DOWN.</b>

<b>BUT THE LORD HEALED ME.</b>

<b>I, OVER TIME, AND I JUST</b> <b>SURRENDERED EVERYTHING TO</b>

<b>HIM.</b>

<b>AND HE TOLD ME ONE TIME,</b> <b>HE SAID,</b>

<b>"SON, YOU CAN ENTERTAIN</b> <b>PEOPLE FOR AN EVENING,</b>

<b>BUT IF YOU'LL GO AND</b> <b>MINISTER AND PERFORM ME,</b>

<b>I'LL DO MORE THAN JUST</b> <b>ENTERTAIN PEOPLE FOR AN</b>

<b>EVENING, I WILL CHANGE</b> <b>LIVES FOREVER."</b>

<b>HE SAID, "WHICH DO YOU</b> <b>WANT?"</b>

<b>AND I SAID, WELL I JUST</b> <b>HAD SURRENDERED</b>

<b>EVERYTHING.</b>

<b>YOU KNOW, MY EARTHLY</b> <b>FATHER,</b>

<b>I WANTED TO PLEASE HIM SO</b> <b>MUCH AND I REALIZED THAT</b>

<b>VISION WAS NOT WHAT MY</b> <b>HEAVENLY FATHER HAD FOR</b>

<b>ME.</b>

<b>THE HEAVENLY FATHER HAD A</b> <b>VISION FOR ME TO PLAY THE</b>

<b>VIOLIN, BUT IT WAS WITHOUT</b> <b>ALL THE PRESSURE OF THIS</b>

<b>WORLD SYSTEM.</b>

<b>SID: ARE YOU THERE NOW?</b>

<b>MAURICE: YEAH.</b>

<b>SID: YOU ARE THERE NOW.</b>

<b>MAURICE: YEAH.</b>

<b>SID: IN A MOMENT, WHEN WE</b> <b>COME BACK, [MUSIC♪]</b>

<b>YOU'RE GOING TO SEE</b> <b>SOMETHING.</b>

<b>YOU'RE GOING TO SEE A MAN</b> <b>THAT WAS SUICIDAL,</b>

<b>A MAN THAT HAD SO MUCH</b> <b>DEPRESSION HE DIDN'T EVEN</b>

<b>WANT TO LIVE.</b>

<b>I BELIEVE WE'RE TALKING TO</b> <b>PEOPLE RIGHT NOW.</b>

<b>I'M TALKING TO SOMEONE</b> <b>RIGHT NOW.</b>

20 Ways to Make Him Emotionally Addicted To You - Duration: 5:32.

20 Ways to Make Him Emotionally Addicted To You

Sometimes, love needs special effort to make it happen.

However, it is worth noting that special effort is even more required to make someone continuously

fall in love with you.

Making someone addicted to you is not that easy, it requires some strategic acts, and

we have 20 of them.

Let's see if these tips can make him emotionally addicted to you.

#1 - Become a worthy woman

This one is quite obvious because you need to be a good woman to make others addicted

to you.

However, you should note that you just need to have one great admirable thing, and man

will be addicted to you.

#2 - Don't act like desperate woman

You should show to others that you are valuable.

You are worthy woman whom others will admire, and that is why there is no reason for you

to act like needing too much of man.

#3 - Don't change him

Characters cannot be changed, and it is best to deal with it.

This is where matchmaking process begins.

You cannot just force someone to change just for you, as you need to compromise.

This act actually makes the man feel something special about you.

#4 - Open up to him

This is a no brainer, but woman struggles to tell things to man she likes.

Many reasons behind that including a past trauma, but it is worth mentioning that man

needs to understand you and it is what makes man connect to you.

#5 - Sharing your secret

Sharing secret is also a great way to connect emotionally with others.

This actually shows that you trust the man, and it makes the man open up to you too.

#6 - Give him space

You don't want to be overly protective towards this guy because the man still has his own

life.

If you always step into his life, you are actually killing him slowly.

#7 - Join on his hobbies

Not all women can do this because some are too extreme for women to follow.

However, you can support the man by doing many other things.

The point is that you need to support and join his hobbies.

That will make the man feel appreciated.

#8 - Show how happy you are

Though sometimes relationship does crumbles, it is actually possible to rebuild it again

by showing how happy you are.

This makes the man put more effort to keep things back on the track.

#9 - Show off your brain

You never know that you have special ability with your brain, and you should show that

to your man.

He will appreciate it.

You also should know that man loves challenge, and it will be fun to go crazy with him.

#10 - Let him know to not have to worry about you

This shows how independent you are, and there is no need for him to take care of her all

the time.

This actually makes the man miss you more and more when he is away.

#11 - Support him

Sometimes, your man feels down because of many things such as work, personal relationship

with family, or many things.

Being the closest person to stand with him, you should make sure to give the required

support.

#12 - Listen

Listening is not the same as hearing.

You should listen carefully and understand what he actually says, this helps you to accommodate

things he needs.

#13 - Accepting

It is important to know that you cannot change others.

It is always better to accept the person just the way he is, and things can be better from

there.

#14 - Be mature in a fight

Yes, one of them includes compromising, and you will be losing the battle or the argument.

However, you should know that there is nothing that you can do to keep the relationship intact.

Of course, you need to be wise.

You should see the difference of fights caused by abuse or error.

#15 - Keep yourself

You need to show him that you are not for everyone.

You should keep yourself from being affected or attracted by others.

It helps you to keep the relation and it also makes your man feel more love from you.

#16 - Keep the promises

Another no brainer advice to make him emotionally attached to you.

However, it is worth noting that woman also fails to keep her promise by canceling one

by one.

#17 - Make him better

You should understand his feeling to make him better, and you can do that by knowing

his feeling.

If he feels down, you need to lift him up.

He feels up, you also need to remind him to be careful.

#18 - Remember the details

Yes, people used to miss details, and you should not be that ordinary person to be attached

with the man you like.

#19 - Be yourself

No matter how many suggestions you have received today, you should make sure to be yourself.

The man who falls in love with must have interested in you from the core.

#20 - Respect his boundaries

Just like giving his space, you also need to steer away from things that he does not

want to you to be involved in.

it may be too dangerous for you, and it may be too disappointing for you.

No matter what, it is best to stay away from it.

The man usually will tell you later about it.

Well, at least that's some tips to make him emotionally addicted to you.

How Catamaran Got Name - Duration: 6:48.

I met Matjaz 30 years ago. Already then, he told me about Wharram's catamarans.

Then we got married, the children came and his desire became real craving.

However, there was no financial possibility for such a project.

In the mountains, far from the city hustle,

we built a wooden house and repaid the loan the following years.

Matjaz started to write tourist books about Slovenia, which sold so well

then we could live modestly from this income.

Then we founded a company - a publishing company dedicated only to his production.

In addition to being life partners, we now also became business partners.

Matjaz writes, photographs and creates books and I sell them

and take care of a company that has been working for more than 20 years.

After 15 years of living together and five years of business partnership,

our loans were repaid. Matjaz did not want to invest in new books this year.

Instead he preferred to realize his long-term desire

and commissioned a plan for Warram's catamaran Tiki 26.

I will always remember his enthusiasm when the postman,

one sunny morning in early July, bought a large and thick envelope with plans.

Matjaz spent all day long and stayed up overnight, studying the plans.

He studied them and took notes. He was so excited that he did not sleep that night.

Early in the following day we were already going to the neighboring village

and met a farmer who had air- dried timber laying boards,

and we were looking for the right ones for a catamaran.

In the afternoon we were already in Ljubljana

the capital of Slovenia, which is only 40 kilometers from our hill house

and bought playwood.

The next day the farmer brought the selected wood

and plywood from Ljubljana also got delivered.

Matjaz did not wait any longer.

He immediately started working. He was sawing for entire week.

He didn't even leave our place anymore.

He committed himself fully to the job.

From early morning until late evening. Every day, day after day.

There was no Sunday and no holiday.

He always laughed and joked that his new boss would not leave him anywhere.

"What boos?" friends and neighbors were asking.

But he laughed and said: "This is my boss," laughing and pointing at the first

still unfinished hull. Two months passed at such a working pace.

In our yard, there were both hulls, they were crossbred,

and there was an awkward quadruple cockpit box on top of them.

Otherwise, small Tiki 26 was sitting down there,

giving a really magnificent look to our yard.

It took up whole yard. It was not possible to go past him.

You could go to the house only underneath it.

We were visited by some friends that day.

In the evening we were sitting in the cockpit in the yard for the first time,

and instead of the table, a beer crate was placed on the middle of the cockpit.

The conversation was running around the boat all the time.

Friends asked what kind of name we would give it.

Matjaz said that he would give it the name Boss.

We all jumped that this really is not a appropriate name.

You cannot give your boat such name.

Matjaz did not want to give in.

He stubbornly claimed that this was his boss and he would have it no other way!

There were almost no full bottles left in the beer crate, when he finally gave in.

Okay, he said, if I can not give it the name Boss, we'll just name him with the Maori name.

After all, he has at least a little of Maori's origins.

let's give him the Maori name.

Let it be ARIKI. He said that and he laughed.

Yes, Ariki is really nice and suitable name, we agreed.

Everybody thought this was appropriate name.

And so it remained even after Matjaz revealed to us what the word Ariki meant.

Maori use this word for many things.

Ariki is their firstborn child. They also used the word to name their chief,

and of course their boss.

In the following month we also felt victims to Matjaz's enthusiasm.

Ariki was not just a piece of wood or a product for us.

It became a living creature. We talked to him, stroked him,

like your lovingly stroke the domestic cat,

laughed with him and greeted him "Hi Ariki".

It's still like this today.

For the crew, this is not just a boat, but a living member of the family

and our company.

Funny, good will and always ready for action. Our ARIKI.

Show People with Paul Wontorek: Victor Garber of HELLO, DOLLY! - Duration: 24:14.

--Victor Garber is a four-time Tony-nominated Broadway star who is back

on the boards in a big way as the romantic foil to Bernadette Peters in

Hello, Dolly! Over a 45 year New York stage career, this well-loved leading man

has delivered unforgettable performances in Deathtrap,

Sweeney Todd, Lend Me a Tenor, Art, Assassins, and so many more. And that

doesn't even touch his film and TV career. Any Alias, Titanic or Legends of Tomorrow

fans out there? Hear Garber talk about his early start,

those iconic career highs, and the wonderful woman he shares the stage with

on this week's Show People.

[music]

--Hello, Victor!

So good to see you.

--Nice to see you.

-- I'm so I have to tell you I have

been a fan of you my entire life. I'm so happy you're here.

--Since this big? --So happy I'm so happy

--You're young. --to get to have this moment with you.

I've seen you in so many things over the

years. --Thank you that's so nice.

--Thank you for being here. -- I'm delighted

--And thank you for being back on Broadway in a musical. I was not expecting this.

--Nor was I. This came out of the blue for me, and I was so so grateful

that it did.

--You are in Hello Dolly it's like a reboot of Hello Dolly, right? Another

reboot of Hello, Dolly!

--Yes another one.

--You're in there with Bernadette Peters, fantastic

Bernadette Peters, the gorgeous Bernadette Peters.

--Yes --And you're Horace

Horace Vandergelder.

--I am Horace Vandergelder and a role I

never thought about playing and or aspired to and it came kind of just you

know from heaven and I said oh that's a good idea.

I'm gonna do that. -- You're

a curmudgeon. I don't think you normally go in for the curmudgeon roles.

--Well you

haven't seen me in early in the morning.

[laughs]

[growls]

--You know it's a it's it's a great role

because he's just he's a you know he's a man who thinks he's got everything under

control, and it has nothing under control and and it's like so many people in life

and myself included, you're awakened to what's really going on, and it's a and

it's a beautiful story about a relationship that that you know she sets

it up right off the bat. I'm gonna marry him so you know that's the plan, and yet

somehow the way to it is so circuitous, and fun and and and unexpected that

even when it happens you're saying oh it happened!

--Right. -- It's it's fantastic.

--So let's talk about the moustache. To me this is the number one topic. This is

not a look I'm used to seeing. --No no it's it's a you know what when

I knew I was

gonna do it, I was actually finishing a TV series in Vancouver playing a

Martin Stein on Legends of Tomorrow and who I didn't have any facial hair. And I

thought I better start because I didn't know what you know how like like there's

no hair here this is an interesting conversation, but there's no like it's

stops here. --You can't grow hair over there.

--No just stops you know some people can grow a full

beard, but I just think these little patches here and when I so I

was trying to grow this, and that anyway fortunately everything

came through on the mustache because I wanted a period look.

--Yeah it's very period. So this is not something you you

rock when you're not on camera. This is

not like your weekend look? --No but I'm but you know I'm sort of used

to it and

I kind of like it and it might last a little longer than than the

show. Who knows? -- Oh maybe you'll have a whole new a

whole new thing. --Well it'll be

fascinating for everyone to know. --A whole career of curmudgeons with moustache

with period mustaches. Is there any maintenance with it?

--There should be more than I'm giving it because I now feel like I'm eating my mustache

every time I eat something and it's oh that's my it's my mustache. You know you

know I think oh is there a hair in my mouth? Yes it's your mustache. So but it's uh

it's perfect for this part, and yeah I I like the way it looks.

--I'm glad you're

liking it. --Yeah.

--I like it too. So that Bernadette Peters..

--What about her? That nightmare!

--She's something --She's you know I've known

Bernadette for many years. We haven't actually we've worked together

--You've been in Brandi movies together

--Right.. --Like Cinderella.

--Yeah like one. --And we

basically, I don't even think we spoke on the on the stage that day, but but of

course I've known her and I've I've been a complete gushing fan for years, and

this has been like a dream for me to work with her in this capacity.

And the good news is we really like each other, so we're having a great time.

--What is your desert island Bernadette Peters original cast recording?

--It would

be Sunday in the Park. --Oh.

Right? I mean.,

--Yes but there are others, but that that would

that's that springs to mind immediately because that was an indelible

production on everyone's heart and then one of my most treasured experiences.

--You guys got your start around the same time, but she was a little more

established I think. -- She started

she was early. She's from Queens you know.

I'm from Ontario, so it took me a long long time.

--Gave her a head start. She only had to get on the subway.

--That's right. But she she she got on that subway. She's yeah she's been doing

it for a long time. --You guys have amazing

chemistry together and I think that's

really the last time I saw the show that the final scenes are just so beautiful,

and and your final moments together I teared up. I mean

it was it's really beautiful what you guys have together. Do you do you

have a sense of chemistry with people like ahead of time? Did you did something

in rehearsal? Do you feel that click?

--Definitely. I mean listen you know my

role as an actor is to have chemistry with everybody. Sometimes it's more

acting than not. With Bernadette it just it was sort of instant, and III just

I fell in love with her. It was so easy because she's she's a remarkable person,

an extraordinary talent, and and so generous. You know there's no it's never

about I mean of course it's about her because she wants to be great, which I

also just love about her. And she just never stops working, you know, to make

something better. And she's still talking about moments that I said it's great

what are you talking about? It's fine.

Don't worry about it! You know, she's like no I think if... I said great, do whatever

you want because the thing for me is that Dolly dictates everything.

Even though Horace thinks he's running the show, she is running everything.

And he doesn't you know he's being manipulated the entire time.

And that's of course the fun of playing the role, but the the chemistry aspect.

you know it's definitely helps, I think, in a situation like this to to it's so

easy to just look at her and say "wonderful woman" because every night I'm

just amazed at what she does. --And you're singing.

--Yes, I am singing again, and

that's been really great because I sort of had given up singing completely because

--Why did you give it up?

--Because I just I because I just felt like I had lost the

ability to really sing the way I could hear myself, you know? I couldn't do it

anymore and then Joan Lader, the great Joan Lader kind of brought me back to

earth. And I'm I'm much better, and I feel much more confident.

--Well, you sound

wonderful.

--Thank you. -- I'm glad you're singing at the Schubert

Theatre. --Thank you so much.

--All right, we're going to take a quick break. We'll be back with more Victor Garber.

[music]

[music]

--We are back with Victor Garber. So happy you're here, sir.

--Thank you I'm happy to be here. --Is it okay if

I call you sir?

--Yeah yes of course you can

--Or Victor. --Well Victor yeah cause I'm

I'm old and I just like to have to be reminded of it all the time.

--You grew up in Canada. -- I did.

--You're a Canadian which is a fact I forget for some reason, but

--I've lived here much longer than I lived in Canada.

--Right. Right.

Growing up what was your favorite afternoon TV talk show?

--Mike Douglas --Oh,

Mike Douglas. --Yeah yeah I once stayed

home from school because Barbra

Streisand was on for a week.

--A week? --Yes he used to have guests on for a week

--So, you were like I'm out this week, no school. -- I'm not I'm not leaving this room

because I was just obsessed with her like everybody was you know. Coloring

Book was was out. --Yeah it was early.

--It's like it was just the beginning of

everything, essentially, and anyway yes it was Mike

Douglas that was that was my it was afternoon show.

--There was also a show a

Lady named Hope Garber --Oh, Hope Garber

--Also had --My mother.

--Your mother had she was like

a TV personality. -- She was yes. She had a

TV show when I was growing up in London,

Ontario called At Home with Hope Garber.

--It wasn't filmed at your home was it? --No, God. That would have been a disaster.

She was one of the worst housekeepers ever!

Admittedly so. --Everything on camera was perfect.

--Oh my god. She was like, her her cooking sessions and her her you know cleaning

day on the set we're magnificent. She was a very glamorous, talented woman who

was ahead of her time. And she was a great singer. She used to be a band

singer before I was you know was born. And she continued to sing well into her

later life, and yeah she was she was a celebrity. And I grew up with her you

know shining in our house.

--So you got to see people like interact with your mom

and you kind of knew she was famous early on.

--Oh yeah no it was she was

definitely yeah I was very aware of that and also she would go to New York to see

Broadway musicals, and she was the one who introduced me to and she took me to

see West Side Story at the O'Keefe Centre when I was about twelve. It was

the national tour first national tour. And I was young and and and I'll never

forget it, you know. She took me to see Milk and Honey.

--Wow.

-- The tour at the O'Keefe Centre, and and so at and it was the local theatre

in London, Ontario. And the people that started that theatre or that came in and

kind of took over the theatre when I was a kid started something called a

children's theatre program. And I signed up right away and that was really

the beginning and that that paved the way for everything and the theatre

honored me a couple of years ago because that's kind of where I started, and it

was with the beginning of everything for me. --And what kind of shows did you do

there? -- I did Tom Sawyer. Memorable

production. I did... the last thing I

did there I think was Roar of the Greasepaint, which they brought me back

in. I was had already moved to Toronto --Bringing back one of the famous.

--It's so hilarious to think that but yes. And no and I I did you know it I did

lots of plays, lots of plays. --And was your mom always like your

biggest cheerleader

in your entire career?

--Yes. She was just you know I I'm so sad

that she for many reasons that she's not here. But this Hello Dolly would have

been the you know the icing on the cake. --Right up her alley.

--Oh. -- Like perfect like

I finally did this is the perfect thing!

--But she saw a lot. I mean she saw a lot of

--So you started performing young, and then

and then this folk this this folk singing career started.

--Oh, I forgot. Yes.

--Did you forget that? --No, no, no. I just

--Did you forget the chronology? That was before Sweeney Todd.

--Oh, yeah yeah yeah the folk singing, yeah I was always a folk

singer. I played the guitar and and

influenced heavily by the great folk singers of the day: Joan Baez and Peter

Paul and Mary -- Were you politically a natural folk singer or

just the music? --No just the music. I mean I didn't really

I I sort of came to that later, the, my brother was more. He was what they called a

protest singer, that's what they called them, protest singer.

No, I just was just amazed by

the the purity and the clarity and the and the simplicity of that music. I, that

struck me very deeply, and then yeah, so I I had a folk singing group.

--The Sugar Shoppe. --Yes.

yeah The Sugar Shoppe group came later, and then we we did an album and we were on Ed

Sullivan and Johnny Carson show . And yeah we were we became sort of known in

America a little bit. --Was that crazy to be on Johnny Carson?

--Completely

crazy. I mean when I think

about it now, I think did that really happen? But it did.

--It happened. Do you

have tapes of it? -- I don't. Somebody

just brought the album to be signed at

at the stage door the other day. And I signed it and I took a picture of it, and

sent it to Marty Short who just would laugh. We were in Godspell together.

--Yeah great segue into that. So this this production of Godspell. It was it

was sort of your first big launching thing.

--It was it turned out to be, yes.

--Well this show was a hit in New York, and then it was in it was off-Broadway and

then it went to Toronto right?

--Yes it went all over the..They set up companies

because it was so popular. There was a Boston company, Chicago company, and then

a Toronto company was I think was one of the last sort of where we sat in the

theater. And I was cast as Jesus. And it was Marty Short and Gilda Radner and

Andrea Martin and Eugene Levy and Paul Shaffer was the musical director.

And so people I'm you know still very close to.

--It's become a legendary

production, but at the time it was just this amazing group of

--Bunch of nutty

nutty kids. --And it was kind of weird.

There was something in the water there. I

mean. -- It was, but I remember thinking at

the time that I was surrounded by some

extraordinarily talented and funny people. I mean Gilda was she was before

she was Gilda Radner, she just was this hilarious woman. You know, girl. And Marty,

Eugene. I mean they were... I was aware that something was like oh this is special.

--So I'm assuming you heard there was a Godspell movie being made.

--I think I must have known about it, but I didn't have any... the director of the movie was

going around to see all the productions that were out there because he wanted to

cast somebody who you know it was like a one of those very low-budget movies. They

need they couldn't really didn't have a lot of tim, so they were looking to see

if they could cast from a lot of the original people who were already in it

cast. But they didn't have a Jesus and so David Greene came to the opening night

and I read it in the paper the next, I think the next day, that that they were

considering me to play Jesus. And then I was cast. It's crazy.

--So, there was a lot of

the New York company and then you. --Some of the New York company

--That guy from Toronto they put in that

--The that Canadian. They were you know

-- Canadian Jesus -- Fortunately, I found

my way in, and they they were they were accepting. -- What was Broadway like back

then? I mean it's so different now. What was it like to be on Broadway back then,

and... -- Well I mean I I didn't get to be on

Broadway til long after I got here,

but I do remember my first Broadway show was I think Tartuffe.

at Circle in the Square. --Shadowbox?

--Well I was yes I was standing by in Shadowbox, but I don't consider that but yes

that was my first job.

Wow, you have done your homework. Tartuffe

I think at the Circle in the Square was considered Broadway, is considered

Broadway. And that was my first job on Broadway.

--Right and then of course Sweeney Todd.

--Sweeney Todd. -- Yes and you got to meet

Stephen Sondheim, which was a dream.

--Complete, yes. I was like it was honestly Stephen Sondheim was one of the reasons

I came to New York, because in my mind

--Anyone Can Whistle --Anyone Can Whistle, yes.

--I love

that cast album, too. --I mean I that's what I listened to in Toronto and

said one day I'm gonna meet him and work for with him. Who knew?

--You secreted it

as they say now.

--I guess so.

--You made it happen.

--I guess so. --Is it and

--I mean it

happened, so something something was at work. I you know I do believe intention

is an important tool in life. Clear intention. --Yeah, speaking of Sondheim I do

love Assassins. -- I do too

-- And I saw that production at Playwrights Horizons.

--That was special --It was fantastic.

--Thank you. -- I remember at the time actually was kind

of disappointment cuz it didn't move to Broadway right? That was sort of the hope.

--Oh, yes. It was the hope and and then later

was revived by Joe Mantello in a beautiful

production. That was spectacular. But I think it was was during a

very tricky political time. And you know it it was it was too controversial

you know, but it remains one of the great I think creations.

--We need the gun

song right about now. -- We need so

many things right now. But, yes. It's just it's

just hair-raising what's happening.

--There's so much to talk about with you. We're gonna take another break.

We'll be back with

more Victor Garber.

[music]

[music]

--We are back with Victor Garber, one of my favorites! --Thank you.

--I like when my favorites show

up in some way. -- I'm not leaving. I'm here for the rest of the day.

--Speaking of sitting, how do you feel about sitting

for portraits? --What do you mean?

--Well I've seen paintings of you. --Oh, Rainer, my partner.

--Yes! --No, he.

--Yes. --Here's what happened

Rainer Andreesen, he's a great artist.

--He's a great artist, and I'm jealous

--He does this. --Takes a photo.

That's it, so you're not sitting there.

--See ya! --[laughs]

--No, --It's all off a photograph.

--Well, yeah, I

mean he sets it up because it has to be perfect lighting, and then he

that's his reference, and then he goes from there, but yeah no he doesn't

--I was

picturing you sitting there for a whole weekend just like not moving

--Are you

kidding? I'm watching, I'm watching MSNBC

or Broadway.com. -- Thank you. I appreciate that.

Like he's painted a lot of the actors that I know, and I'm jealous because

I kind of want one because I almost feel like he's so talented, and you

--Give me some cash. I'll get you -- I'm gonna send him a photo and a check and I'm

gonna get one of those paintings. --It's yours.

No, he's uh he's great. They're very moody portraits mostly and yeah

I mean he's done things for like family ones where they're kind of like kids

everything and he's but he always manages to find something to to make it

a little more interesting. --And they're so masculine.

--Yeah. --Right? I mean there's so

they're so butch.

--Depending on who it is, yeah. They're not all, but yeah.

--Was he doing that kind

of painting when you met him? --Yeah art was always his passion, and now it's

just gotten more and more and he's you know because of Instagram, he's gotten

more work, commissions, and he's actually he's doing a lot of commissions.

-- His Instagram account is actually a must

watch because he announced you got married on his Instagram account.

--Yes, he did.

I think he did. --Did you know he was doing that?

And he also announced you were

gonna be in Hello, Dolly! on his Instagram.

--Yes that was I was uh that was an innocent mistake.

--I know I understand --Because he

thought he was sending a private message to somebody and it blew up

--Oh no, really? -- Yeah he had no

it was just sort of saying because he

was sending it to a friend, who you know but he thought it was a private message,

and how it turned out not to be and.." --Technology. Technology.

--Which is why I

don't do anything.

--And I know that you are notoriously private, and now that now

you're kind of not. --Yeah.

--You came out, but you in your eyes you

were just kind of like I just don't talk about it.

--Never, I never really... You know I'm not

really, I don't really want to know people's personal, actor's personal lives.

--Because you prefer to keep the mystery and...

--Yeah I mean -- The performances.

--I just think it's turned into something else now. You know this is

different. This is obviously a different thing than... but I mean it's just the the

social media thing yeah, you know I have I have some problems with it. So I

don't know I just don't participate. I'm not on Facebook. I'm not on you--

I don't do any of

that stuff. I do have an Instagram account that I keep forgetting I have, that

I promote diabetes type 1 diabetes which yes I am, and and Alzheimer's which my

parents had. And I talk about things that are meaningful to me and of course my

personal life is my personal life.

--What do you like to do when you're not

acting? Like what is.. --I like having dinner.

--Dinner, okay.

-- Good friends.

--What's like a great meal for you?

-- Um, well,

Rainer cooks great salmon and roasted vegetables,

and just a touch of red wine,

but I'm only drinking on Sundays now during the show.

--Okay yeah, after the week is over.

--A new thing.

I'm fine, but I won't be drinking tonight, which is my

day off because tomorrow, I go back on the show. So I I just think it's a

better schedule for now. -- TV, movies, what are you into?

Books? --Well yeah I

mean I watch some, you know, I I wish I read more. I'm really I've got like so

many books to read that I go, Oh, I'll get that, but I I for some reason I'm

very easily distracted. And and then I'm trying to keep up with you know my

friends television shows, the people who are on TV.

--It's a lot of work --And

I'm also addicted to to the news, and so I'm always watching that, which is

ridiculous. I try to do Pilates and I meditate in the morning that's it.

--What do people talk to you about the most? Like at the stage door or like what

it what are people reference? Besides Sugar Shoppe,

--Besides Sugar Shoppe, yeah

that's a that's a steady.

--You know Titanic. --Oh yes Titanic. That

little thing. -- That one. And then Legends of Tomorrow because of the the

there's such a massive following, especially of kids, which I love that.

And then you know then you get the hardcore Broadway people ya know where

they remember you know, Lend Me a Tenor or Sweeney Todd.

--Sweeney Todd yeah

--Stuff like that so yeah so honestly it's kind of all over the map and that's

frankly the most gratifying thing for me as an actor because because I just set

out to do as many different kinds of things as I could do. And I'm I

love that that's the way it is. -- Mm-hmm That Annie movie was good, too.

--Oh, that. --Daddy Warbucks.

--Rob Marshall. -- That was like Rob Marshall's first thing

--Well, he directed and choreographed that yeah he also choreographed Cinderella

was directed by Rob Iskov, but and Neil Meron and Craig Zadan produced all

of those musicals, which were so much fun to do.

--And you sang

NYC, which is like one of my favorite songs

--Yes, and I married Audra McDonald. --Yeah.

--So that's heaven. -- So can you think of any other

dream things you could do with

Bernadette Peters?

I don't know I could

can you imagine? --You you have to

tell me cuz I always wait for someone to say oh you should do this. And I think

alright I'll do that. But I never can think of things to do.

--So you really just

kind of react to what comes to you? You're not.

--Yeah I mean honestly

my my my intention, as I was talking about earlier, is just to find

great roles and work with great people and so far I've been really lucky.

--Yeah sounds like you're nailing it if that's the goal.

--Well, today. -- When you were a kid I mean

--It's the kind of is a dream. --Right and so

now we're gonna see what the mustache can bring.

--What the mustache can bring and --New head

shots maybe. New mustache headshots.

You don't need head shots. They call you.

--What century are you in?

--No they don't do head shots. By the way I'm shocked by that.

I keep thinking do I need a new head shot?

I don't think so. No, I mean the the thing is, you

know, you never know what's on the next what's

what's yeah come across you to your desk. --Right. Let's talk about the audiences at

Hello, Dolly! They lose their minds.

-- It's so joyous. It's like a the number of

people who have said to me thank you for making me forget everything for two and

a half hours. It's like it's really palpable in the theater. You just it's

overwhelming. And that is what could be better than that? I mean as to

participate in that. And by the way it's an entire company of people who are just

so on it. Everybody in our show is just magnificent. You know it's like I marvel

at the talent in it and and the sweetness of this company. It's fantastic

--Yeah anyone who saw the original when it opened with Bette Midler and David Hyde

Pierce. Go again. It's it's incredible. I enjoyed it so much watching it again.

It's like a whole new show and you are just heaven heaven together.

--Thank you --I had so

many like reminding me why I love Broadway moments watching you two up

there.

--That's so the best. I'm so grateful for that.

--That and the Ballad of Booth, which

which I do listen to every week. --I'll sing that after we...

--Thank you so

much for coming by, Victor. --It's a pleasure. Thank you.

-- I hope to see you again on Broadway, you know

grace us with your presence. --Hey! You never know.

--Don't be a stranger. --You never know!

--Okay thank you so much. Thank you for watching. We'll see you next time.

-------------------------------------------

Malice's Magic Weather Machine 🏰 Kiddyzuzaa Land: Episode 3 🏰 Princess Picnic Prank Backfires! - Duration: 12:41.

- [Announcer] Kiddyzuzaa.

- And then she gave us all giant chocolate eggs

filled with, you'll never guess what they were filled with,

chocolates, we ate chocolate.

- Oh those princesses are just so happy with themselves,

well I have a plan to make sure this so-called picnic

is a complete wash-out, hee hee hee.

- And at another point, I actually did turn

into a chocolate egg, oh it was so funny.

- There, finished.

Now let's see what you can do.

(electronic beeping)

Yes, come on.

Oh, well that's not right.

Hmm I wonder if, huh?

Oh dear.

Right, let's try that again.

That should do it.

(electronic beeping)

Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha.

- Which is why I am absolutely certain

that the correct number of dinners is actually two,

maybe even three, it just makes perfect sense in every way.

You have one dinner to warm up with,

a second dinner for mains,

and then a third dinner for dessert.

- Hang on, is it me or did it just get a little chilly?

- Right, time to fix this useless machine once and for all.

- Ah, this is the life.

- You said it, Olivia.

- Who would have thought you could sunbathe

in the middle of a storm, eh Malice?

(thunder booming)

- Grrr.

- Haha cheers princesses.

- Cheers.

- Um are either of you actually gonna make a move?

- Oh Esme, dear Esme, chess isn't about making moves.

- I'm pretty sure it is.

- Olivia's right, it's about the space between the moves.

I once saw Mr. Snuggles playing chess,

he didn't make a single move

the entire game, won within 15 minutes.

- It's all about focus, if you really focus on each piece,

become one with the chess board,

breathe in the aroma of--

slime?

- Ugh, Olivia, I told you I didn't want to play slime chess.

- That wasn't me.

- Guys, it's not about the slime,

it's about the space between the slime (laughs).

- Oh ha ha Esme, where did the slime come from?

- I think I have an idea.

- Malice, of course it was you.

- Huh?

- You pelted us with slime.

- Me?

I wish, I've been trying to perfect

my slime cannon for weeks, can't get it to work.

- Ugh!

- See?

Ooh, are you playing chess?

A word of advice, don't play against Mr. Snuggles,

that bear really knows his way around a chessboard.

Or rather the spaces--

- Oh enough about chess already,

we've got to find out where the slime is coming from.

- Hmm, where's Lilliana?

- You're right, I haven't seen her all day.

- Boo.

- Whoa, whoa, ahhh!

- The name's Lilliana, Princess Lilliana.

- Lilliana, you completely ruined our game of chess.

- Oh chess is boring.

- Thank you.

- I've got a much better game.

- As long as it doesn't involve a slime blaster.

- It doesn't, it involves four slime blasters.

The rules of the game are simple,

get hit and you're out, last princess standing wins.

- Awesome.

- That does actually sound pretty fun.

- I just have one question, I don't want to play.

- Three, two, one, go!

- Let's just get this over with.

- Right, if you want to catch a princess,

you have to think like a princess.

Given I am a princess, I just have to think like myself.

On second thought, maybe that wasn't the best idea.

Uh oh.

- Hee hee, one down.

- Ugh, tastes quite nice actually.

- I bet Lilliana thinks she's got this

in the bag, but I'll show her.

Speak of the devil.

Reach for the sky, Lilliana.

Very good Lilliana, very good,

fool me once, shame on me,

but fool me twice, ah ha!

Blast, very good again Lilliana.

Fool me twice, shame on me ah ha again!

Okay, no more, I'm not falling for it again.

- Wise choice, Olivia.

- Thanks, cutout, wait!

Rats.

- Ew, stupid muddy forest.

Right, time for a sit-down I think.

Hm, ah ha!

This should do the trick.

- Ha ha ha, this is far too easy,

just Isabella to catch now.

- I think you're forgetting someone.

- Malice, you're playing now are you?

- I sure am, and guess what I just finished.

- Whoa!

- Prepare, dear Lilliana, to feel the wrath

of my slime cannon ultra mega super

great awesome mega ultra 3000.

- Ha, good name.

- Oh quiet.

Huh?

- Ha ha, better luck next time Malice.

- Uh oh.

- Time to finish this game off once and for--

(exploding sound)

- Oh, I guess that makes me the winner.

Anyone for a game of chess?

- They should be here any second

now.

- Olivia!

- Huh?

Oh Esme, you're late.

- Sorry, I was just adding the

finishing touches to our midnight feast.

- You mean you were eating our midnight feast.

- A good chef always tastes what they cook, Olivia.

- Well where are the others?

- Sorry I'm late, Olivia,

my jet pack broke down, and I had to wait

for cloudside assistance, you know how it is.

- Since when did you have a jet pack?

- Oh I just picked it up this morning.

Still needs a bit of work.

- Well at least you're here now.

That just leaves Isabella, she's not very good

at travelling by herself, I hope she's alright.

- Come on, Isabella, you can do this.

Three, two, one, oh phew.

- Ah hem.

- What?

These are brand new shoes.

- Right, now we're all here,

the sleepover can finally commence.

- Yay. - Alright.

- Item number one on the agenda,

pillow fight.

- Okay, but first let's lay down the ground rules, no--

- Game on, princesses.

Ahhh ha ha ha ha!

Ha ha, this palace ain't big enough for the four of us.

- Right, item number two, midnight feast.

Wow, you really didn't eat all the midnight feast, Esme.

- Oh no, this pile was at least twice

the size before I had my snack.

- Well I can't wait to dig in.

- (belches) Oops, still hungry I guess.

- Right, item number three, ghost stories.

- Oooooh.

Ooooooh.

- Ah hem.

- Heh, sorry.

- Right, Isabella, you go first.

- Me?

Um okay, um this is the story of the um

muffin.

- Muffin? - Muffin.

- Uh monster, yes that's right, the muffin monster.

Once upon a time there was a muffin monster

and it ate everyone, the end.

- Well that wasn't very good.

- Let's just go to bed.

- Muffin monster, eh?

Hmm, this gives me an idea.

Mwa ha ha ha ha, mwa ha ha ha ha.

(snoring sounds)

- Huh?

Ahh!

- Ah! - Ahh!

- Muffin!

- Ha ha ha, now this is a ghost story.

- Help, someone help, help!

- Muffin monster, ha ha hah!

- Huh?

- Now that's what I call a midnight feast.

- Ugh, spoil sports.

(upbeat music)
