The purpose of this video is to let you know everything about the EF Campus in Tarrytown...
... and give you all the information: residence, trains...
... and everything you need to have an incredible experience here.
Before showing you the campus it is important to mention what's inside this folder.
The first day, you are given a folder, a bag or anything...
... which contains essential information you need to know in order to spend your best days here.
Here we have a map of the campus...
... which I think is very important, isn't it? Because, unless you have stayed here...
... you will be keen on knowing where your residence is, where you eat, etc.
There are 5 halls of residence in the campus:
Lugari, Gerard, St. John's, Ursula & Gaines.
If you turn around the paper, you will find where the campus is situated in Tarrytown...
... and also where you take the train, etc.
It isn't only about what's inside the campus but where's the campus in Tarrytown.
You will also be given a FAQ paper so that you can answer your questions.
Anyway, if you still have any question you can ask the EF Staff or write me a comment on this video (I answer all the questions).
You will also be given a little bag so that you can carry your belongings if you didn't bring any bag.
Without doubt, the most important thing on the first-day-pack is the student handbook...
... which you would probably have been sent before travelling.
In case you didn't receive it, they give it to you in English...
... for you to know the EF regulations and to answer any other questions you can have.
They will give to you a pen in case you haven't brought one for the lessons.
Another important thing they don't give you and you have to take:
... go to the train station and take this paper where you'll find the schedule of the trains going from Tarrytown to Manhattan.
It is so important because you will have all the schedule (weekdays and weekend) on a paper.
In case you don't have enough time to go to the train station, a imageof the paper is going to appear in a few seconds (you can make a screenshot).
Take the screenshot to have the schedule on your mobile device.
All things considered, it is important to mention you are also given a pendant...
... where you can carry things like your ID...
... which is like a normal ID but an EF ID.
It is important for you not to lose it because if you do it you'll have to pay $25...
... I mean, they don't charge you anything at the beginning but, in case you lose it, you will have to pay $25.
Moreover, it is your resource to entering the residence because everyday you have to scan your ID for the staff to know you are inside the residence...
... and you also have to swipe the card when you come in to eat.
It isn´t compulsory to wear the pendant but it is the most comfortable way of staying in campus...
... because you can control your important belongings as the ID, your room keys, etc.
Personally, I keep the pendant inside my bag when I'm on Manhattan...
... for me to be more comfortable...
... and also to prevent from being robbed, which is slightly common in New York City...
... as it is one of the safest cities in the world.
Anyway, I recommend to have it on your neck when you're at campus...
... but I think it is a waste of time to have it on your neck when you're visiting places or sightseeing.
Well, I'm now at the entrance of the campus in order to show it to you little by little.
... I'm not gonna stop a lot of time at the halls of residence as anyone but you will know best where your building is and that stuff, okay?
Personally, my accomodation is Lugari, but I'm not gonna show you each hall of residence as they are all different.
I'm just gonna make you a summary of what all the buildings have in common...
... but I'm not gonna stop to show you how the rooms are in St. John's, I'm not gonna show every hall in Ursula, etc.
I'm simply going to show you where every residence is...
... and I'm gonna focus on the main buildings you're gonna stay if you come to EF New York.
Let's start seeing the campus!
Well, as you can see, Tarrytown is by the river Hudson...
... and the campus is at the top of a hill.
So the way to the campus from the train station is walking up the hill.
This is the end of Neperan Road (the street you can take to arrive to capus asap).
Once you've walked the hill you arrive to the EF Campus in Tarrytown, New York.
The first building you´re going to see is the Sports Centre, which I'm gonna show you...
... and in front of it we have St. John's & Ursula halls of residence.
That's the place we were like 5 seconds ago (just for you not to be confused)...
... and as you can see this is the entrance of the sports building.
The building has a swimming pool, a basketball court and a cool gym I'm just gonna show you!
Well, this is the swimming pool, which is on the ground floor.
I don´t know how to go into the pool because I haven´t come before...
... I haven´t come to this building before because I prefer spending my time in Manhattan...
... but I can tell you this is a great olympic swimming pool, you´ll enjoy it if you practise water sports!
As you enter to the building, the swimming pool is just at the left.
The gym is divided into diverse zones and this is one of them.
As a recap: remember that the pool is on the left and in front of us there's the reception.
On the right we have the EF basketball court.
There are also lots of places like this one around the campus just to chill...
... and the ´famous´water refill machines...
... which are so useful as you can buy a bottle and refill it as many times as you want.
Maybe you can use it just to drink, it´s up to you.
I´m not going to show you the whole building because I didn´t sign up here...
... and the woman on the reception started looking at me like ´what are you doing?´haha...
... while I was just filming.
Basically, the building has what I have showed you...
... on the lower ground there´s more space for gym.
There are lots of weights and machines in addition to the treadmills we´ve just seen in here.
And I´ve discovered that you can enter the pool going to the lower ground.
There are also dressing rooms and everything you can find on a sports centre.
Just for you not to be lost! That is the entrance and the sports building...
... and we arrive here to the main entrance of the first hall of residence.
Ok. As I thought, Saint John´s and Ursula (halls of residence) are in this building.
So this big building has two different residences.
So I´m going now to show you the main building, the Butler Hall.
This is the Butler Hall (the building with the big dome)...
... and next to it, there´s Gerard Hall.
Just for you not to be lost! St. John´s & Ursula, Gerard Hall, Butler Hall.
If we continue walking we will arrive to my hall of residence, Lugari.
I´ve just advanced a little and found this EF car, which involves a service...
... offered by EF in which by paying $1 you are transported from the campus to the train station and vice versa.
As you can see, next to Butler Hall we have the Academy Hall...
... which is one of the school centres here.
Next to it there´s the Spellman Auditorium, the typical big room...
... where you can assist to lectures and massive lessons.
If we continue walking we will arrive to my hall of residence, Lugari.
Well, as you can see we are coming from the end of this long Street, where the Butler Hall, the Academy Hall, and the Spellman Auditorium are.
At the end of the campus we can find this huge building, Lugari.
In theory, there´s an exit next to Lugari Hall...
... to Rita Hall (where we can find the cantine, for example).
What happened when I went to NY was that they felled a tree and there was a locked exit...
... this is the exit to Rita Hall I´m talking about.
Anyway, this won´t affect you because they have already removed the tree so both this and that other exit are available to you.
We have got down and we can see now that building in front of us, Rita Hall.
In that building you will be able to eat.
This building is similar to the Academy Hall because it is full of classrooms.
On the lower ground of the building you´ll find the Teahouse, where you can also eat, but paying extra money.
There´s not the same food as at the cantine, there´s fast food and other types of food like ´quesadillas´, so tasty!
You can click on the link in the description to watch my whole experience in EF New York last summer.
In that video you´ll see how tasty the burgers and quesadillas of the teahouse were!
If you continue walking from Rita Hall, you will arrive to Gaines Hall, the only hall of residence left to be shown.
That´s the last hall of residence of the campus, it can be reached by walking on that cool bridge!
So that´s all the campus, here we have the Gaines Hall...
... Gerard Hall and Butler Hall. The campus is on a hill, as you can observe.
You just have to go down the hill to arrive to Rita Hall from Butler Hall.
There´s anything else at the campus. That´s all!
Let´s see how the food is in Rita Hall!
Example: breakfast (all foods are buffet)
Example: brunch (every saturday)
Example: lunch
EF Lounge (also in Rita Hall)
