In the autism field, I don't think we talk about happiness near enough.

So, today, I'm gonna dive in and discuss how to ensure our children and clients with autism

are happy.

Hi, I'm Doctor Mary Barbera, autism mom, board certified behavior analyst, and bestselling

author.

Last year, I did a video blog called Programming for Happiness.

In that blog, I talked about a keynote presentation I heard Doctor Dennis Reed give years

ago, that really changed the way I viewed happiness.

He said that happiness is really tied to our ability to make choices.

My goal for my son Lucas, who has autism and is a young adult, and for all the children

I have worked with who have autism, is for them to be as happy and independent as possible.

It's actually not much different than my goal for my typically developing son, Spencer,

who is in college now.

I want him to make good choices that lead to his happiness, and to be as independent

as possible.

But for Lucas and other kids and adults with moderate to severe autism, who can't make

choices very easily and can't tell us what makes them happy, it is kind of tricky to

actually determine if they're happy.

Lucas can't tell us, for instance, which job he likes better, or that he'd rather do a

puzzle than take a walk, or what his favorite movie or TV show is.

So, we need to observe and document his happiness across activities.

Lucas's behavior analyst came up with a data sheet years ago, when he was trying out different

jobs and vocational tests.

We still use this data sheet today.

His one-to-one assistant takes data on the job, the length of the activity, number of

prompts, Lucas's affect across that activity.

Affect is rated in terms of low, medium, or high, and affect is basically happiness.

Does he appear to be happy?

Is he smiling?

So, low means he doesn't appear to be that happy.

Medium is middle of the road, and high means he's happy, he's smiling across that activity.

In addition to measuring and documenting his affect, we also document his speed.

If he's going slow, he's not as motivated as when he's going fast.

And then we also have a medium category.

We also have her document any hint of problem behavior or agitation.

After we had this data years ago when she came up with this sheet, the behavior analyst

was able to determine, and she even made graphs, to prove which jobs and activities led to

higher affect, fast speed, low prompts, and no problem behavior.

And so now, we know that when Lucas is happy.

So, when people ask me if Lucas is happy at his pre-vocational program that he attends

every day, I can confidently say yes.

And we have data to prove it too.

In addition to giving kids as many choices as possible, we also need to be more observant

and document signs of happiness in our children and client.

How To End The Forever War | Yemen 9 | AUMF - Duration: 4:55.

Hey there.

Something very important is happening in Congress this month, and nobody is talking about it.

A resolution is being considered by the Senate that presents the possibility of an end to

the horrific war on Yemen and it also promises a lot more than that.

This could be the beginning of the end of our pointless two decade long war on Terror.

Under the US constitution Congress is supposed to approve any war that the US fights.

For 16 years the president and the pentagon have done whatever they want because of a

single law that was rushed out on September 14, 2001.

This law Is known as the Authorization for the use of Military Force, or the AUMF for

short.

It is the central legal justification for all of the drone wars, all of the special

forces actions, and all the rest of the secret and open actions that make up the forever

war.

Iraq had its own authorization, but all the rest of it comes down to the AUMF.

The mission creep has been ridiculous.

The wording of the AUMF says it is aimed at those who carried out the attacks of 9-11,

yet it has been used to justify 16 years of military action from the Phillippines to Niger.

In that time Congress has done essentially nothing to take back its constitutional right

to determine where we go to war.

During the Bush Years first there was the shock of the attack, and then the chaos of

his disastrous wars to distract us from this illegality.

Obama's calm legalistic manner allowed all the evils of our wars to continue, unquestioned

and unrestrained, destroying countries like Libya and Syria, even though our actions often

had us allied with Al Queda rather than fighting against them as the AUMF requires.

Congress was happy to let the President handle it, because of the veneer of competence and

control that Obama provided.

Now we have a president who presents neither competence nor control.

The US congress is slowly waking up to its responsibilities.

It is taking a horrific and pointless war to do it.

The UN calls Yemen the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

This crisis has been caused by Saudi bombers fueled by US planes, and with targets provided

by US intelligence.

This war is glaringly, obviously in violation of the AUMF.

We aren't targeting Al Queda in Yemen, we are targeting the Houthis, who are great enemies

of Al Queda.

Last November, the House of Representatives debated and passed a toothless resolution

expressing concern about Yemen.

These wheels are turning slowly, but they are turning.

This month we have a real opportunity to finally shut down this illegal, counterproductive

and horrific war.

A Democrat, A Republican and a very famous independent Senator have teamed up to restore

the honor of the US congress.

The resolution they have proposed requires that US forces stop participating in the war

in Yemen within 30 days.

Without the support of the US, the Saudi war on Yemen could collapse quickly, possibly

saving millions of lives.

This should be enough to prompt you to call your senator, but there's a potential for

more.

As of today, decisions about war and peace are made by bureaucrats who are more accountable

to defense contractors than they are to the US people.

If we leave it to them, these wars will never end.

But if we reward Congress for doing the right thing in Yemen, Congress might actually stand

up and do more.

We're not going to break the military industrial complex with a single legislative action.

But we can make it saner.

So please if you're a US citizen, call your senator, and ask them to support the Sanders-Lee-Murphy

resolution on Yemen in the Senate.

the most. You know what's bothering me most is

that when people came to me and then they start to make excuses and

justification excuses why they are not successful. It's like "Livia, you have

that something; you are lucky; you have that luck to be a successful person and

I don't". It is excuses that you feed your mind. You

are the one who are feeding excuses in your mind. I reached this position with all

tears struggle... There is no such thing called easy to be successful because if

it's easy, everybody is successful already.

If you ask a lot of successful people I believe they will agree to me that

there's no such thing like luck, they work so hard to reach their position and...

you don't know how many evenings I cried to my husband because I didn't feel that

I can do it... I wanted to give up many many many times

because it is hard. You don't know how many times I cried in front of my

coaches and my mentors because change is always difficult.

To do something you are uncomfortable is difficult,

but that's the only thing you need to pay if you want to be successful

So if you are now in position when you are thinking that you want to give up

because this is difficult, hold on I know what you feel. I have been there...

I have been there myself. Just keep going because you never know maybe you just

need 10 no's, 5 no's or even just 1 "no" to reach that position that you

want to be. To have things what you want to have. Keep going! You lose when you

quit. I do realize I only lose when I quit so

there is no option of quitting. Just keep going and you will be there I promise

You see, narcissists are dangerous because of this following reason.

Some of the absolute worst people in the world have turned out to be narcissists.

You know, cult leaders, serial killers, con men...

And if you think your wife suffers from this mental illness then you need to be careful.

You see, narcissistic women are known for being extremely manipulative.

They are experts at charming and seducing men.

They can lie with a straight face and will make up wild stories just to get attention.

In short, they know exactly how to make you feel like a million dollars... so that they

can manipulate you to do whatever they want.

So, how do you know if your wife is a narcissist?

Well, if you have a wife who...

• Gets angry at you for no reason...

• Acts like she's better than everyone else...

• Is obsessed with money, status and power...

• Tries to control every little thing you do...and

• Seems to have an endless appetite for attention and validation...

...then there's a good chance she's a narcissist.

That's not all, though.

Sorry, but it gets worse...

Because here's the most dangerous thing about narcissism.

Most narcissists are pathologically self-involved.

They believe the world revolves around them.

They have almost zero empathy for other people, and a total incapacity to love.

Big red warning sign there, right?

Now I hate to break this to you, but you really MUST know this...

If you're sure that your wife is a narcissist, then understand this -

There's a good chance your wife feels absolutely nothing for you.

It also means she will feel nothing about cheating on, lying to or betraying you.

Fucked up, right And guess what?

That's not all.

All this, added with narcissistic rage, can be a deadly combination.

Ultimately, what you need to realize is this -

Marrying a narcissist is a dangerous, draining and exhausting experience.

It can be downright horrifying and soul destroying.

At this point you may think therapy or couples counselling is the answer...

Nope.

Narcissists are notoriously difficult to treat.

Why?

Well, they think they're above therapy.

You see, these people see themselves as superior to everyone else.

Get them to admit they have a problem?

Haha, good luck with that.

Plus, narcissists will ALWAYS blame other people for their problems.

Worse, your narcissist wife will manipulate the therapist to make it seem as if YOU are

the bad guy... ...that YOU'RE in the wrong... and she's

the VICTIM.

Which is why you need to be careful of going to a therapist.

So how DO you deal with a narcissistic wife?

Make no mistake... being in a relationship with a narcissist can be extremely damaging.

It can mess you up for life.

One other thing to remember: Narcissism can be caused by a traumatic past.

If you've known these people it's difficult not to feel sorry for them.

(If your wife is a narcissist there's a good chance she's had a really hard life.)

Here's the thing... you can't "cure" narcissism.

It's just not possible.

As much as you love her, realize you really can't make her a "non-narcissist" overnight.

And you know what?

If you do try to help, there's a good chance she will end up blaming her problems on YOU.

The best thing to do is let her hit rock bottom.

And to be honest with you, if things get really bad, you should seriously consider a break

or even divorce.

On the other hand, maybe you want to make it work.

You've gone too far to throw it all away.

You love her, and she's truly the one for you.

If that's the case, and you want to save your marriage, you'll like what I'm about to

tell you next, so continue watching.

I'll tell you all about this Anti-Narcissism "Mind Hack" that has worked for me, but before

that, I want you to know this: I know enough about psychology, hypnotism

And I'm not telling you this to brag.

The reality is that I know way more about narcissism than most shrinks.

And here's what I know that mainstream psychologists don't…

Due to the split in her personality, a narcissist wife is extremely suggestible.

So gaining access to their subconscious mind takes almost no effort at all.

To deal with a narcissistic woman (and get her to respect you), do this...

There is a chance you can make your marriage work... as long as you're willing to be BRUTAL

and COLD.

(And yes, you need to be rather cold-hearted to use a Mind Control technique like Fractionation.

It's not for lily-livered pussies.)

The victim will regain consciousness within 24 hours.

All victims take on the same physical attributes, that of a 46-year old human male,

by the name of Shaquille Rashaun O'Neal.

So today tadaa! I'll be making these kagoshima black pig pork ramen by marutai

marutai ramen is based out of my home island of kyushu

Out of curiosity I ordered these off of Amazon ~ and they tasted amazing ~

And so this is what we'll be eating today

you absolutely can't look down on instant ramen at all .... lets get eatin'

oh ooops I mean cookin'

~ I wanted to jump ahead to the eatin' bit ~

These are the ramen

A bug bite turned into this big bruise well that sucks...

Inside there are soup packets and these are the noodles they use

and then we've got flavor filled oil packs

Now for the toppings

I will go boil the sprouts

Cut the eggs in half

char siu

Thinly sliced wood ear mushrooms

When you hydrate the mushrooms it swells up so much I'll eat the rest with some sesame oil or something

That is, if there is anything left over sesame oil makes almost anything taste yummy

Once it comes to a boil add the noodles

My bowl only fits 8 packets of these with soup so that's all I'll make today

You're supposed to add the soup to the noodles Once they're boiled but I'm just going to put it in the bowl

its a hakata style ramen noodle and then add the soup

the pork broth soup look so yummy this pork broth has such a yummy looking color to it

the charred garlic looks yummy as well

and then the flavoring oil packet

Tadaa its complete ~HEAVY~

I totes forgot it would taste a bit better with some sesame seeds

The pork broth soup is so rich with plenty of depth It's so yummy

they are legit thin style noodles

They've got such a nice mouth feel they're so slick and delish

The pork broth soup has a nice prominent flavor

The stuff is yummy on its own but.....

It's even yummier if you add garlic

ya gotta watch it with garlic if you are going to go out with someone later

you wouldn't want to terrorize the populace with your garlic breath

The Sprouts are so very tasty

they're so crisp and yummy

I've been overlooking sprouts for the longest time but... they're so crisp and delish

They're so cheap and easy to add to a dish

so hot right now its super hot

shouldn't have worn such warm clothes when eating ramen

I think I love this ramen too much.... ~bought a box of these noodles off amazon~

All I need is this in my life

With all the leftover egg whites I have these days I usually add it to this ramen and eat it together

marutai ramen comes out with a lot of noodles like that but they're all so yummy

the thin noodles have a nice mouthfeel and are delish

I always finish all the soup but this soup is especially good that you want to savor the last drop

Does Your Child with Autism Appear to Be Happy? – Observing Your Child's Happiness - Duration: 4:23.

In the autism field, I don't think we talk about happiness near enough.

So, today, I'm gonna dive in and discuss how to ensure our children and clients with autism

are happy.

Hi, I'm Doctor Mary Barbera, autism mom, board certified behavior analyst, and bestselling

author.

Last year, I did a video blog called Programming for Happiness.

In that blog, I talked about a keynote presentation I heard Doctor Dennis Reed give years

ago, that really changed the way I viewed happiness.

He said that happiness is really tied to our ability to make choices.

My goal for my son Lucas, who has autism and is a young adult, and for all the children

I have worked with who have autism, is for them to be as happy and independent as possible.

It's actually not much different than my goal for my typically developing son, Spencer,

who is in college now.

I want him to make good choices that lead to his happiness, and to be as independent

as possible.

But for Lucas and other kids and adults with moderate to severe autism, who can't make

choices very easily and can't tell us what makes them happy, it is kind of tricky to

actually determine if they're happy.

Lucas can't tell us, for instance, which job he likes better, or that he'd rather do a

puzzle than take a walk, or what his favorite movie or TV show is.

So, we need to observe and document his happiness across activities.

Lucas's behavior analyst came up with a data sheet years ago, when he was trying out different

jobs and vocational tests.

We still use this data sheet today.

His one-to-one assistant takes data on the job, the length of the activity, number of

prompts, Lucas's affect across that activity.

Affect is rated in terms of low, medium, or high, and affect is basically happiness.

Does he appear to be happy?

Is he smiling?

So, low means he doesn't appear to be that happy.

Medium is middle of the road, and high means he's happy, he's smiling across that activity.

In addition to measuring and documenting his affect, we also document his speed.

If he's going slow, he's not as motivated as when he's going fast.

And then we also have a medium category.

We also have her document any hint of problem behavior or agitation.

After we had this data years ago when she came up with this sheet, the behavior analyst

was able to determine, and she even made graphs, to prove which jobs and activities led to

higher affect, fast speed, low prompts, and no problem behavior.

And so now, we know that when Lucas is happy.

So, when people ask me if Lucas is happy at his pre-vocational program that he attends

every day, I can confidently say yes.

And we have data to prove it too.

In addition to giving kids as many choices as possible, we also need to be more observant

and document signs of happiness in our children and client.
