Youtube daily report w Mar 20 2018

Like Crash Bandicoot, Naughty Dog's other classic platformer franchise, Jak and Daxter

also has a rather interesting history in Japan.

You may recall how the Japanese version of Crash was marketed much more cute for the

Japanese market, and that this resulted in the title achieving exceptionally high sales

and popularity for a Western game.

There are some similarities to this in the way Jak and Daxter was handled in Japan.

However, the devs didn't have to change too much, as a Japan-based focus was actually

a big inspiration for the Western release too.

The devs were inspired by popular Japanese video game series such as Final Fantasy, as

well as their earlier success with Crash Bandicoot.

To quote Josh Scherr, who was working as an animator during the original game's development:

"In terms of directive, one thing we were trying to do internally was that we wanted

to create a title that not only had broad appeal to many different age groups, but also

to many different cultures.

To that end, that's where a lot of the anime stylings of the characters were coming into

play."

Naughty Dog Co-President Evan Wells expanded on this, stating:

"We knew we wanted to do a character action game.

I remember spending some time at the dog park with Jason [Rubin] kicking around ideas.

We were inspired by the success of Final Fantasy at the time, the Japanese influence.

That was one of the big things.

We wanted to replicate the success that Crash had in Japan, because back then it was a huge

part of the market."

This philosophy worked very well, with Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy having great

success worldwide.

No major changes were made to Japanese version, although the box art was made a little more

cute and cheerful to help better market it in the country.

You may also notice that the game's name is stylised a little differently in Japan, with

an "X" symbol substituting for the word "and".

This small difference can be found in all games in the series.

Another interesting little difference can be found within the game's manual, which in

the US and European versions is a fold out poster.

The US version in particular is quite bare bones in information, with the majority of

it being devoted to the main poster image and a map of the world.

The Japanese version comes with a traditional manual, instead, and not a poster hybrid.

It's big, in full colour and contains lots of information about the game and the story.

It also features a lot of illustrations and artwork, as well as a comic alongside the

bottom of the pages.

Moving away from the first game though and onto Jak II, which took a stark departure

from the original.

Whilst for the first game, Naughty Dog were inspired by Japan, this time they took inspiration

from new games that were coming out during this time, such as Grand Theft Auto III.

The industry seemed to be changing and they didn't want to be left behind.

This saw Jak II take not just a much more open world approach, with a big emphasis on

weapons, but also a much darker approach.

Longtime producer Sam Thompson talks about this, explaining:

"Jason felt strongly that we should make the move to a darker play in Jak II, which

completely alienated Japan.

The sales were horrendous for Jak II in Japan."

"But that was the decision we had to make.

Jason and Andy specifically – and this is with all of the stakeholders at Sony buying

in as well – they had to mature this franchise if they wanted it to compete long term."

Yep, whilst Jak 1 was a huge success in Japan, Jak II sold extremely poorly - with this thought

to be due to the much darker style.

This time the team didn't try and market it as being more cheerful with the Japanese box

art.

With it being very dark, even in Japan.

Curiously, there was a small difference in the name though.

The Japanese version instead goes by the name "Jak X Daxter 2", unlike the West where Daxter's

name was removed.

The devs did still make a few attempts to lighten the game up for the Japanese market

however.

One of these changes is that Jak no longer has a goatee by default in the Japanese version.

He will instead be portrayed like he was in the original game, without facial hair.

There's no official statements on why this is, but it's likely that this was either just

due to it being different from the first game and, with all the other changes in direction,

they worried about alienating fans even more.

Or perhaps they felt that the goatee-look was too aggressive.

You don't need a Japanese copy of the game to see a clean shaven Jak though.

Western players can also enable this via the secrets menu.

Conversely, Japanese players can instead enable the Western look for Jak.

Another interesting change made to the game relates to the NPCs you can find within the

city.

If you so desire, you can not only attack the civilians but even kill them.

This causes the guards to come after you, in a system that's somewhat like Grand Theft

Auto's police system.

Now, in the Japanese version, you can still attack the population but they can no longer

be killed.

Instead they will just bounce around the stage until you stop attacking them.

The guards will still come after you in the Japanese version though, if you do enough

damage to normally kill them.

This means there's no real gameplay reason for this change.

It's likely that this was done to make things more light-hearted in nature.

Unfortunately for the devs though, these changes of course didn't work.

As mentioned, the game still sold extremely poorly and was classed as a huge failure in

Japan.

So much so in fact that, following Jak II, the franchise would be virtually abandoned

in the Japanese market.

Jak 3 wasn't released in Japan and neither were the spin off games.

Curiously, the YouTube user RedVGFox discovered than an unfinished Japanese translation still

exists in Jak 3's files.

He then managed to hack it into the game via a Gameshark and posted a video about it on

his channel.

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier was the only other title to be localised in Japan,

with this also being the final game in the franchise and also not being developed by

original developers Naughty Dog.

For some reason, this was only released on PSP in Japan, unlike the West where it was

released on both PSP and PS2.

Furthermore, it was the only game in Japan to get a 12 years and up age rating.

The first two games were rated with the lowest rating possible.

In the US however, it was rated E10+, which is lower than Jak II's Teen rating, but higher

than the first game's E rating.

Not only did other titles not get released, but the PS3 HD Collection also went unreleased,

probably due to the lack of a localization for the third game.

The third game was eventually released though, more than 13 years later, as a PS2 classic

on the PlayStation 4 store.

The game was released December 21st 2017 and is entirely in English, with the text in parenthesis

informing people that it is the "English version".

Jak and Daxter were, of course, still featured in the Japanese version of PlayStation Move

Heroes though, as well as PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Jak is also still shown with his goatee.

But, for now at least, that remains the full extent of Jax and Daxter presence in the Japanese

market.

The series started out exceedingly strong in Japan, with sales even rivalling Crash

Bandicoot's.

But then, following the change in tone for the 2nd game, all of its momentum died off

and this made the publishers cautious about continuing the franchise over there.

On the flip side, Jak II sold very well over in the West and won numerous awards for its

quality and ambitious change of direction and this really goes to show how differently

markets can react at times.

ALERT Benghazi Investigation Report Released, Trail Points Straight to Hillary - Duration: 17:18.

ALERT: Benghazi Investigation Report Released, Trail Points Straight to Hillary

New details are emerging about Clinton's misdeeds every week, and it is becoming increasingly

hard to see how the former presidential nominee will remain a credible player in the political

scene.

A new report has come out from the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012

Terrorist Attack in Benghazi, and it ended up confirming what most suspected all along.

The Obama administration, which of course includes Hillary Clinton, completely failed

to keep American diplomats properly protected and safe during that infamous attack.

The new report features 81 new witnesses and 75,000 new pages of documents, and serve to

show just how profoundly incompetent the previous administration, as well as former Secretary

of State, Hillary Clinton, were in response to the Benghazi attacks.

Coming in at just over 800 pages long, the report goes into extensive detail, and leaves

no stone unturned as to what transpired during the attack.

Many key revelations show just how lacking the previous administration's response was

to this emergency.

"Despite President Obama and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta's clear orders to deploy

military assets, nothing was sent to Benghazi, and nothing was en route to Libya at the time

the last two Americans were killed almost 8 hours after the attacks began," the report

said.

It's a shocking level of inefficiency, and there was a Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team

(FAST) based out of Rota, Spain, sitting on a plane for over three hours, waiting to respond.

Even worse, none of the military assets in the area met their required deployment times.

"We expect our government to make every effort to save the lives of Americans who

serve in harm's way.

That did not happen in Benghazi," said Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS) in response to this report.

"Politics were put ahead of the lives of Americans, and while the administration had

made excuses and blamed the challenges posed by time and distance, the truth is that they

did not try."

Another elected official, Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL), was equally shocked over the findings,

"Our committee's insistence on additional information about the military's response

to the Benghazi attacks was met with strong opposition from the Defense Department, and

now we know why.

Instead of attempting to hide deficiencies in our posture and performance, it's my

hope our report will help ensure we fix what went wrong so that a tragedy like this never

happens again."

Of course, the infamous excuse Clinton used was that this attack was caused by a YouTube

video, when in fact, she told her daughter as well as the Egyptian Prime Minister that

it was a planned terrorist attack that had nothing to do with the film.

"Obama Administration officials, including the Secretary of State, learned almost in

real time that the attack in Benghazi was a terrorist attack," said Rep. Jim Jordan

(R-OH).

He continues, "rather than tell the American people the truth, the administration told

one story privately and a different story publicly."

With even more damning information about Clinton surfacing almost regularly, it's hard to

see who she will blame next for this failure — except herself.

Top 5 Things Players Love About Their DM - D&D Tips - Duration: 4:33.

Hey, Luke Hart here!

Today we're going to look at the top five things that players love about their DMs.

These are the things that are going to make our games a lot better if we're consistently

doing them as DMs.

So, let's get cracking!

Number 5 Cool voices!

Now, I'm not talking about being a voice actor!

I'm just talking about trying.

Your players will appreciate the effort even if you're not that good.

Remember: the more you practice, the better you get.

Practice while you're in the car!

People won't think you're crazy.

They'll just think you're using a hands-free headset to talk on your phone.

(choked chuckle) Yeah, that's it… (witch voice) All right, adventurers, prepare

to meet your doom! (evil demon voice) Are you making fun of my

witch voice?

That's very dangerous.

Keep laughing… (high pitched voice, speaking quickly) Yep,

yep, yep, yep, yep!

I can tell you what's in the cave.

Not a problem, not a problem!

Just give me more nuts.

I need more nuts.

Give me more nuts!

Nuts, nuts, nuts, nuts, nuts!

That was my squirrel voice, by the way.

Number four Figure out what your players like about the

game, and give them more of it!

Got thespians in your group who LOVE social interactions?

Pile that stuff on!

Do they dig puzzles?

Yep!

We got that.

Tactical combat?

We got you covered!

Exploration?

We can do that, too!

Number three Integrating elements from their backstories

into the campaign; and even designing entire adventure arcs around them.

Your player took the time to write that backstory.

I guarantee you that if you take the time to do something with it, she will love you

for it!

Doing this makes your players feel special because they have parts of the game that revolve

around them.

It pulls them into the game, puts them into the spotlight, and lets them shine.

Okay, that's, that's too much.

Number two Letting players' actions and choices matter

and influence the world around them.

This is empowering and makes your players feel important.

For instance, did they sneak past that dragon turtle and steal several magical items from

her treasure horde?

Well now she's sending mercenaries after the heroes, and every so often a hit squad

shows up for them.

And they know that eventually they gotta go back there and take care of that dang turtle

because things are not going to get any better.

Did the heroes piss off the local lord by treating him disrespectfully?

Well now everywhere they go merchants are tripling their prices or straight up won't

sell to them because that local lord called in a few favors.

When your players see that what they do in the game has a tangible effect on the world

around them….

That takes your game to the next level!

Number one Putting in the effort to prepare a great game.

And there are no shortcuts here.

Adequately preparing to run a great game takes time and effort.

But, trust me, your players will notice, and they'll love you for it.

And they'll also notice if you didn't do JACK to prepare for the game session and

are just pantzing it.

Unless you're a professional pantzer…

Stat blocks, lore, a well thought out plot.

Customized music, special handouts, hand-crafted magical items created just for them.

Creating engaging battle scenarios on interesting terrain.

These are the types of things I'm talking about!

There is nothing wrong with improving during your game – all great DMs improv – but

the important parts – the parts you don't want to improv – prep those parts!

Err on the side of planning more, not planning less.

All other things being equal, a well-prepared DM will almost always run a better game than

an unprepared DM.

If you liked this video, and you want to support more of them, consider checking out my adventure

"Prisoners of the Drow" over on DriveThruRPG.

It has dark elves in it!

Imagine that!

I'll put a link in the description for it.

It's pay what you want, so you can toss me a buck or two.

I've also begun work on the sequel to that adventure, "Into the City of Spiders",

so that should be available soon-ish.

I hear that it has dark elves in it, too!

Thanks for hanging out with me, guys.

I love helping other DMs improve their games, and I think we're building a really awesome

community here!

Don't forget to leave a comment down below about what YOUR DM does that you love and

subscribe for more videos.

Until next time…

Let's play D&D!

(Awesome upbeat music that entices you to click on more of my videos and subscribe.

Do you feel enticed?)

Seojun decides to 'WASH' a dirty keyboard..UH OH. [The Return of Superman/2018.03.18] - Duration: 13:23.

Boys, you know I bought a mobile phone again, right?

If you ever want to call me,

you can reach me at this number.

I'll write it down for you.

(Hwijae writes it so they don't forget.)

- Is this your number, Dad? / - Yes.

If you ever miss me, you can reach me here.

(He leaves briefly to brush his teeth.)

(What are they calling about now?)

Who is this?

Hello.

I'd like to order jajangmyeon for delivery.

Dad, I want some yogurt.

- Yogurt? / - Yes.

All right. Now please stop fooling around.

Hey, you can't call for things like that.

- Drink this one. / - Okay.

(Hwijae kindly delivers some yogurt.)

No more prank calling.

(He can already guess.)

Yes?

When are you coming in, Honey?

(When are you coming in, Honey?)

(He impersonates his mother.)

(Their mischief makes him sigh.)

I'll head in after eating dinner.

Come home quickly.

Hey.

Come over here. Who was it?

(My mobile phone is not a toy.)

(Running away)

Hey.

Don't do it again.

(For the twins, pranking Hwijae is the best.)

The Return of Superman, episode 216,

"Living, Loving, and Learning".

The house is too messy. We should clean up.

No, I don't want to. I want to play games.

It's too messy.

(Kids, you don't seem to understand.)

Look at that.

The air outside is bad enough already.

But look how dusty it is in here.

Do you see that?

What's the house like right now?

- It's bad. / - Right?

- It's the worst. / - It is, right?

So we should tidy up a bit, right?

We're going to have a spring clean-up.

- You have to help me. / - Okay.

You have to help us too.

Of course. I'll help you guys clean.

All right. Let's go. Move, move.

It's that bad. Let's hurry and clean up.

(They clean the playroom, which is the messiest.)

(This might take a while.)

Seoeon, clean up the bedroom instead.

You clean here, then.

The twins clean up for spring efficiently.

They clean their rooms. It's worthy of praise.

- But Dad... / - Yes.

Do we have to wash these?

That's for the laundry.

Leave that on top of the sofa.

You have to wash your blankets.

Bring them to the sofa.

- How about pillow sheets? / - They're okay.

(Blankets cannot be left out of a house cleaning.)

(Struggling)

Hey, Seoeon.

Can you help me?

Hey, Seoeon.

(After hearing his brother ask for help,)

(Seoeon runs over in full speed.)

Seoeon, bring the stuff

I hand over to the sofa, please.

Is that where Dad wants them?

Yes.

(Let's go!)

(Strength, flow through me!)

(Struggling)

Are you already tired?

No.

I shouldn't have drawn on the wall.

You did all of it.

You drew a little bit too.

A very difficult task is at hand.

The twins attempt to erase the doodling on the wall.

That probably won't come off easily.

- Is it coming off? / - I tried earlier.

It didn't work at all.

Is it coming off?

- No. / - No.

It's really not coming off.

I should buy something to take care of that.

(Recycling is Hwijae's responsibility.)

Kids, I'm going to recycle the trash,

then head to the market to buy a cleaning agent.

Where will you be going?

Basement first floor.

- I'll be back. / - Okay.

(Hwijae leaves for some chores.)

While Hwijae recycles,

what will the twins be doing?

(Meanwhile, at home...)

(Gosh, it's so messy.)

(Moving)

(Seojun tries to do the dishes.)

Seojun, are you putting on the rubber gloves?

Is he really?

(He puts on rubber gloves.)

Seoeon, come help me.

Do the dishes?

Yes.

There isn't much.

Some soap, please.

Okay.

Just like their parents,

they apply a lot of dishwashing liquid

and begin to wash the dishes.

(They're not doing too badly.)

(Scrubbing away)

When did you two grow so much?

(They wash off the soap thoroughly too.)

The twins wash the dishes perfectly.

(They place the completed tableware on the rack.)

They are already great at housekeeping.

(The two of them are busy washing dishes.)

(Feeling proud over the clean dishes)

(Are there still remaining dishes?)

The doodle isn't gone yet, right?

- No. / - Shall we try?

(I shall wipe it away with this sponge.)

(Water dripping everywhere)

This isn't working either.

Did you use soap?

Yes.

(Looking the same)

It's really not coming off.

(How can we get rid of this?)

Just then, something catches his attention.

(Seojun discovers something.)

It's the keyboard they doodled on.

Hey, Seoeon.

Let's try washing this as our last chore.

(Let's try washing this.)

What?

We doodled on this so much.

Let's go wash this too.

(His determination burns.)

He's not really going to wash that, is he?

Oh, no.

That's not good.

(Will he really wash it under water?)

(Definitely!)

(Scrubbing hard)

(The keyboard has deceased.)

(Rinsing)

You're working so hard.

Can you show it to me?

Wow, it's so clean now.

Now you just need to wash this part here.

Is there anything else?

Seoeon looks for things to wash.

(He searches thoroughly like a hawk.)

Isn't that Hwijae's prized helmet?

(Oh, no. How dirty.)

Seojun.

Seojun.

I think you need to wash this too.

(Here's one more thing to wash.)

Can you do it?

(No problem.)

(Scrubbing hard)

(He even washes the inner leather lining.)

This is the work of our mischievous pixies.

The doodling is gone,

but what an issue.

(Some of the items shouldn't be wet.)

Shall we check one more time?

(He's on the prowl one more time.)

Let's see.

(100 percent clean)

Seojun.

I'm done washing everything.

Okay.

(Can they finally rest comfortably?)

(Another task catches his attention.)

There's a lot to do.

We have to clean and do the laundry.

(The busy housekeeper can't sit still.)

Let's put them in the bathtub.

(Blankets in the bathtub?)

Gosh. Let's go.

Into the bathtub, it goes.

Let's put it in the tub!

Let's turn the water on.

Begin.

(Washing blankets is fun with stomping.)

You need to take your pants off.

(Taking it off)

(He decides to go all natural.)

This is exciting.

If you do a good job, I'll give you 100 points.

Let's do this, let's do this.

Get clean.

(After applying plenty of soap...)

Press hard.

(Stomping away)

The water is getting cloudy.

Now is time to move it.

(Where will he move the drenched blankets?)

Gosh, this is heavy.

This is really heavy. What's going on?

- This is super heavy. / - Really?

Try pulling it, Seoeon.

Okay. Here I go.

(Putting their backs into it)

Let's do this. Let's do it!

(They display great teamwork.)

Oh, no, kids.

The floor is going to get flooded.

(Dragging)

(They continue drenching the living room.)

(This is way too much water.)

(It's heavy, but the task must be completed.)

(He ends up breaking the drying rack.)

This isn't working.

Hold on to the other side.

That's when Hwijae finally returns.

(What a familiar sound.)

Hey, Seojun and Seoeon.

(How will Hwijae react to their work?)

Why is the blanket on the floor like that?

Hold on.

What's all this water?

(His eyes look concerned.)

Hwijae notices the watery scene.

(Completely drenched)

(It's almost a lake.)

We took it and then...

But it was too heavy.

It got wet everywhere.

- You washed it? / - Yes. We

washed it in the bedroom's bathtub.

You washed it in the bedroom's bathroom?

(Sighing)

I did the dishes.

Say what?

I did the dishes.

Seojun, you did the dishes?

I did it too.

Let me see. Where?

(Chuckling proudly)

Seoeon, why is my helmet...

(Laughing)

You washed this?

Why did you wash this? It wasn't necessary.

You washed this too?

Yes.

(What's wrong with him?)

Good job.

This is valuable to me.

Okay, it's okay. Why did you wash these?

We doodled on it too much.

I see.

We were trying to help you, Dad.

I know. You both did a great job.

Good job.

I'll take it from here. It's okay.

Gosh.

It's not just wet.

They created a flood.

(Laughing in disbelief)

(Hwijae quickly takes care of the situation.)

The house became an aquarium.

I am going to... I'm bringing the towels.

(The twins clean the water up with towels.)

Let's wash away.

Now they're wiping the water.

My sons, you're great.

- Should I help you? / - Yes.

(The trio cleans up the watery mess.)

Good job, Seoeon.

- Okay. / - All right?

You did all of this to help me, right?

- Yes. / - Right?

Give me a big hug.

(They created more of a mess,)

(but their hearts empower Hwijae.)

After all the trouble, the messy house is clean.

(The three of them worked together.)

The trio successfully completed their spring cleaning.

(All done.)

Seola, Sua, and Sian's first day of school in Bangkok! [The Return of Superman/2018.03.18] - Duration: 16:11.

This is Bangkok, Thailand.

Thai citizens are busy starting another morning.

(It's another bustling morning in Bangkok.)

Which family will we be meeting today?

(It isn't 7 a.m. yet.)

Today's breakfast is fried eggs.

(Fried eggs are served.)

But there are five of them.

There are more backpacks than average.

Whose house is this?

(This family seems bigger than most.)

Jaesi, Jaea.

Wake up.

(It's the five siblings' mom.)

It's the five siblings' family.

(Then, are these children...)

(Seola, Sua, and Sian are still fast asleep.)

The trio is still fast asleep.

But what are they doing in Thailand?

Wake up the kids.

It's their first day at school.

- Wake up. / - Today's the first day of school.

(What? School?)

During the vacation period,

Jaea had a tennis tournament in Thailand.

We ended up going for her training.

We decided to use the time to gain experience.

There was an international school still in session.

We decided to try sending Seola, Sua, and Sian.

It can be a fresh new challenge.

They must confront new things in a new setting.

I hope they can adapt and have great new experiences.

(Tears flowed freely at Suvarnabhumi Airport.)

Sian, you have to...

I have to go.

Hurry and leave so Daddy can't go.

If I don't go now, it'll be a big problem.

- I have to work. / - Hurry and drive, Mom,

- or Daddy will leave. / - Hurry and leave.

Hurry and drive.

This is the saddest day of their lives.

Hurry and go.

Dad is crying too.

Look, Daddy is crying.

(Even Donggook tears up.)

This is so sad.

(My dear children.)

- Don't go, Daddy. / - Don't go.

(Donggook feels sorry about leaving them behind.)

I'll come back when my work is done, okay?

(He still needs to leave.)

- Daddy. / - Daddy.

- When I / - Dad is watching this.

was a baby,

I'm sorry for crying so much.

Me, too.

Thank you, Daddy,

for playing with us.

Be well, okay?

Dream

about me.

I'll stop

calling you a prankster.

You'll be my cool dad.

(Crying)

I love you, Daddy.

(With that behind them, they get ready.)

Wash time.

We have to hurry and get ready.

(Sian is taking a morning pee.)

(Seola washes up on her own.)

Sua, wash your face.

(Sian shuts the toilet lid.)

Sian.

(I have to use it too.)

We're in trouble. We're late.

Hurry up. Hurry!

What time is it?

It's 7:10 a.m.

Hurry and eat.

(They hurry and eat.)

Thank you for the food, Mommy.

(Let's observe manners despite being busy.)

Are we leaving for school soon?

Yes, we have to go quickly after eating.

We only have 20 minutes left.

We might end up being late on the first day.

What's that?

Kids, you need to pick up your speed.

I don't know what "speed" means.

We'll get in trouble if we miss the bus.

Hurry and eat, Sian.

It'll be fine as long as Sian hurries.

Did the bus leave?

Did it leave already?

No, not yet.

But it's going to leave soon.

I'll go get ready first.

(There's a rush at the dining table.)

It's a busy first day of school at the siblings'.

(One person remains at the table.)

But Sian is a little too laid back.

Which one should I eat?

Sian, didn't you brush your teeth?

I want to eat this one.

He's wasting time just not eating anything.

Okay, stop eating. It's getting confiscated.

- Come here. / - We can't dilly dally.

You didn't brush your teeth yet, right?

Hurry up, Sian.

(Scurrying)

(Zooming away)

We're late, Sian.

Then I'm going to brush her instead.

It's yours. But I'll use it on her.

- Gosh. / - I'm going to use it.

It's mine.

You're going to brush, right, Sian?

That's right. Open wide.

They do everything for him.

He's a total prince.

You're done, right? Raise your arms and take it off.

The outfit is great.

This one is yours.

(It's hanbok.)

It's blue.

Come here. There are even little fishes on it.

It's for a prince.

(They rush to change into hanbok.)

Look at you, Sian.

You look totally dashing.

- You look like a prince. / - Hurry and dress.

No, this one is yours, Seola.

Here, put it on.

(The little sisters wear hanbok too.)

It's very pretty.

Hurry, hurry, hurry.

Let's hurry up.

It's already 7:40 a.m., kids.

(It's already time for the bus to arrive.)

Hurry and go.

Hurry. Let's go as fast as possible.

- Hurry, Sian. / - We might miss it.

I've never seen them so busy.

They might be late on their first day.

Why do you keep dragging me?

Gosh, I'm tired.

It's so tiring.

(Sian holds his seams as he runs.)

Did we miss it?

(Wait for us, school bus.)

Please slow down.

Oh, no. I think it left.

(This is the pick-up location.)

I think it left.

No, it's coming to us right now.

Oh, no. We missed it.

He said it's already gone.

We're already late from the first day.

We can just walk.

It's too far to walk.

- We can walk faster. / - We'll walk fast.

We have to call Mom.

Mom.

Yes?

- Speak. / - Mom.

- Yes? / - The school bus

didn't wait for us and just left.

- The bus already left? / - Yes.

Oh, no.

You should've hurried. It was too late.

- What now? / - Hey, Sian.

Are we not going now?

No, you can still go.

I'll call you a cart.

You can hurry and go.

A cart is Thailand's main method of transportation.

It's as common as a Korean taxi.

It's a convenient method of travel.

Can I still go?

Yes, you can. We just need to wait.

- I think it's him. / - Come here.

(Are you the five siblings?)

We tried so hard.

Sit in the back. I'll sit up front.

- Sit here. / - One person up front.

Sian, do you want to sit up front?

(They all embark.)

Go, go.

Just go.

(Go straight.)

Don't worry. We're not late yet.

(They calm Sian, who's startled.)

(Wait for us, we're coming.)

Don't cry. We'll make it.

I promise. We're not late.

The weather is so nice.

(Thailand's scenery comes into view.)

(They pass many streets on the way.)

We're almost there.

The siblings ride a cart for their first day.

Will they arrive without being tardy?

(An international school in Bangkok)

- Come on. / - Let's get off.

We made it.

Sian, get your backpack.

Your bag.

(The driver is friendly.)

Kids, how do you feel about the school?

It's so pretty.

It's the biggest school we've been to so far.

(They arrive at the office safely.)

(Is this the school?)

This is my sister.

(A teacher gives out school uniforms.)

You can do well, right?

You can do well, right?

- Let's go! / - Let's go!

They look like students in school uniforms.

- Let's go! / - Let's go!

They don't even speak Korean well.

Could they follow classes that are in English well?

This is an international school in Thailand.

(Young children have a morning meeting.)

(They start the day by singing and dancing.)

(It's a song I don't know.)

(Seola lip-syncs.)

Faster!

(Faster!)

The morning meeting involves a dance.

They are following well.

Okay, everyone. Say "Bye" to the little fish first.

(It's time to split up into classes.)

(Sian's class gets up first.)

(That's my class.)

(My sisters...)

(You can do well by yourself, right?)

(Sian isn't used to being apart from them.)

(He waves his hand until he can't see them.)

I am going.

(Will the siblings adjust well in school?)

Seola and Sua head to their new class.

(The children are excited to meet new friends.)

Will they adjust well?

(Donggook is nervous.)

Okay, class.

She froze. Sua is biting her nails.

Hey.

Come stand here. Stand up.

Okay, we have two new students today.

Okay. What is your name?

Seola.

(Embarrassed)

- Seola. / - Her voice is tiny.

Seola. Seola.

- What's yours? / - I am Sua.

- I am Sua. / - Sua.

How do we say hello in Korean? What do we say?

I love you.

(He is a funny boy.)

- Hello. / - Hello.

(It's nice to meet you.)

(The children in Sian's class introduce themselves.)

(He claps without knowing what's going on.)

- What's your name? / - Suria.

"My name is Suria."

What's your name?

Boise.

My name is Boise.

(When do I get a turn?)

What's your name?

(It's Sian's turn.)

My name is Sian.

He knows how to say that. "My name is Sian."

He can say that like a robot.

There are a few phrases he can say well.

He can say his name, age,

and favorite color.

He can say those phrases well.

They come out automatically.

(Let's go with Sian's confidence in English.)

What can you see?

(Focused)

(There is a cat on the next page.)

Cat!

It's a cat! Sian, good job.

It's a purple cat.

I am very good.

(I am the best.)

- What's that? / - Fish.

That's right. It's a fish.

- What's that? / - A bear.

What's that? It's a...

Monkey, Sian. Monkey.

(Making monkey noises)

(This class is fun.)

I see...

(Cut?)

- Woof. / - Dog.

- Dog. / - Yes.

He is participating actively in class.

"Cat" and "Cut" sound similar.

What matters is that he understands.

There are phrases Sian says often.

"How bad? How man?" He says those phrases.

I don't understand him.

(He practiced English before going to Thailand.)

(Speaking nonsense)

Oh, yes. That's right.

(Speaking nonsense)

(He is saying anything that comes to his mind.)

Not Sian's language.

(I am speaking English.)

(What is he saying?)

(He is confident.)

Hi, Mommy.

Come and baby.

(The baby came.)

It's a baby elephant.

What is he saying?

He thinks he is speaking English.

He thinks it's English.

Don't do that.

(Put your arms through here.)

(You can put it over your clothes)

(like me.)

(Look at me. Do it like me.)

(Did she understand?)

(Do I wear it like this?)

(That's not it.)

(Did you understand Sian's language?)

No, I thought he was speaking Korean.

He talks a lot. He doesn't stop talking.

Okay. That's really good.

Making up your own language is a good sign.

It means he will pick up English very quickly.

Rise of strongmen leaders in China and Russia - Duration: 15:46.

And to tell us more about the recent rise of strongmen leaders in China and Russia,

and their impact on the two Koreas as well as the U.S.,...

Professor Kim Hyun-wook from the Korea National Diplomatic Academy joins us in the studio

today.

Thanks for coming in today.

Pleasure to be here.

1- Two strongmen leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping

both secured another term in office over the weekend,... perhaps opening a new era of one-man

rule for the two countries.

Where do we see this going?

2- And the two countries' relationship since 2012 has been quite dynamic,... with some

even calling it the Xi-Putin honeymoon period.

The two leaders cooperated in numerous fields including finance, trade, military, investment,

and science and technology,... just to name a few.

3- But the two didn't get along on everything because Moscow's response to China's "One

Belt One Road" initiative wasn't so positive.

First, what is this new Silk Road narrative.... and why is Russia not so happy about it?

4- Considering that South Korea is neighbors with both Russia and China, how is their impact

felt on the Korean Peninsula in areas of security, diplomacy and economy?

5- There are concerns though that we may be

seeing more countries and their individual leaders pursuing their own narrow interests

without regard for shared global peace and growth.

6- China has been one of North Korea's closest allies.

With that in mind, what kind of stance does China have in regards to the denuclearization

of the Korean Peninsula?

7- So how have Xi and Putin reacted to the upcoming inter-Korean talks and the potential

summit between U.S. President Trump and Kim Jong-un?

8- With

President Moon Jae-in seemingly in the driver's seat amid ongoing negotiations for upcoming

talks with North Korea,... what kind of strategy does the South

Korean government need to have in place?

9- Meanwhile, Japan has been actively involving itself when it comes to

North Korea,... especially as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Cabinet's approval rating

has plunged recently.

Abe has even tried to play the Japan-North Korea summit card.

What are the chances of us seeing

this happening?

Thank you

for your insight today.

My pleasure.

Manchester United star Paul Pogba 'can't be happy', says France boss Didier Deschamps - Duration: 2:01.

Manchester United star Paul Pogba 'can't be happy', says France boss Didier Deschamps

PAUL POGBA cant be happy with life at Manchester United, says French boss Didier Deschamps.

Midfielder Pogba, 25, is struggling to justify the £89million United paid Juventus for their former player in the summer of 2016.

On Saturday he was an unused substitute for the 2-0 FA Cup victory over Brighton, having reportedly had his recent ups and downs with manager Jose Mourinho.

Deschamps has picked Pogba for the France squad for friendlies with Colombia and Russia.

But he said of the midfielder's situation at Old Trafford: I'm sure Ill hear more about it.

But of course it's a situation he wont be enjoying..

Pogba did start last weeks disappointing Champions League showdown with Sevilla, which United lost after missing the previous win over Liverpool due to injury.

Said Deschamps: I dont know why that is. As to why or how things came to this, there may be many reasons.

I have a great deal of talks with players at our training camps, to gauge their feelings. Its not just Paul..

Pogba helped United helped them win the League Cup and Europa League last season.

But speculation remains rife that he might move on in the summer if his relationship with Mourinho fails to improve.

S. Korea-U.S. joint military drills to begin on April 1st, last shorter than previous years - Duration: 2:29.

The South Korean military authorities have announced the schedule for the upcoming joint

drills with the United States.

The annual exercises were going to start in late February and early March... but were

postponed until after the PyeongChang Olympics and Paralympics, which are now over.

According to our Oh Jung-hee, this year's drills are expected to be significantly shorter.

South Korean military authorities announced the schedules of the delayed Seoul-Washington

joint military drills on Tuesday.

"Defense chiefs of South Korea and the U.S. agreed to resume the annual combined exercises

including this year's Key Resolve drill,... the schedules of which were delayed considering

the Olympics spirit.

The exercises will begin on April 1st and be at a similar level to previous years."

The Key Resolve, a computerized simulation exercise, is to be held for about two weeks

starting mid-April.

But the Foal Eagle, which involves the deployment of troops and military equipment, will be

similar in scale to last year's exercise and will last four weeks starting April 1st.

Seoul has notified Pyongyang of the drill schedules... through its western military

communication line.

This year's drills will be shorter than previous years'.

And it's also highly likely... that the drills will be held at a lower intensity.

Whether U.S. strategic assets -- like nuclear-powered submarines or aircraft carriers -- participate

in the exercises... generally determines how intense the drills will be.

South Korea's defense ministry didn't specify further on that matter, only saying that South

Korea and the U.S. are currently discussing the matter.

But according to reports, the drills may not involve B-1B bombers or nuclear-powered aircraft

carriers.

Experts are seeing this as a means to minimize North Korea's possible slamming of the drills,

especially when the first inter-Korean summit since 2007 is coming up in a month time, as

well as the first summit meeting between North Korea and the U.S.

Seoul's defense ministry stressed... that the sole purpose of these drills is to safeguard

the nation's defense, while the Pentagon also underscored Seoul's stance, by saying "the

combined exercises are defense-oriented" as they've been for many decades.

There is a possibility that both drills could overlap with the inter-Korean summit talks

slated for late April... depending on the actual date of the talks.

Oh Jung-hee, Arirang News.

Make a Poncho from an Emergency Blanket - Duration: 1:48.

make a poncho from an emergency space survival mylar blanket how to make a poncho emergency blanket shelter

hi it's AlaskaGranny if you're ever caught out in a storm you can easily

make a poncho out of an emergency survival blanket there are two ways to make an emergency poncho from an emergency survival blanket and

one way actually works better than the other some people recommend folding the emergency blanket survival mylar space blanket

blanket in half finding the center and cutting a hole for your head you can put

the emergency blanket poncho over your head then you can even take duct tape and tape the under arms

together to help hold the emergency blanket poncho shelter together the downside of that is the hole might

continue to tear so then your blanket poncho is not going to stay over your head plus

you have a huge hole in your emergency blanket a better way to make an emergency blanket poncho that I like to do

is to wrap your blanket around you and duct tape one side right below your chin

you still have your entire blanket intact and your arms are still free to

walk around move or hold the rest of the blanket together if it's windy for only

about a dollar an emergency space blanket mylar survival blanket can certainly be useful and help

save your life in a lot of different situations stock up on them and then

make sure you put them in your bug out bag in your car you're hiking bag take

emergency blankets with you when you go hunting and fishing anytime you're out of doors take along a

tiny little emergency blanket that can help save your life

Is MiraLax the Cause of 'Horrifying' Changes Parents Are Seeing in Their Kids - Duration: 5:37.

Is my relax the cause of horrifying changes parents are seeing in their kids

for many parents of children suffering from constipation

the laxative my relax has been a godsend

it's shocking to learn

then have the common over the counter medication is not meant to be used for kids under 17 though many doctors have been

prescribing it off label anyway despite the fact that it's suspected to come with a whole bunch of scary side effects like behavioral issues

speech problems anxiety

and depression now several families are coming forward to claim their children have

developed such neuro psychiatric problems after taking my relax

the controversy kicked off after six ABC action news reported that Philadelphia mom genie ward gave her 3 1/2 year old daughter Nicole

the laxative on the advice of a Dr. and within 10 days

the coals personality had changed drastically

near psychiatric events with paranoia mood swings

aggression rage

ward explained it was horrifying to see my daughter chains like that and to not completely go back to normal

related constipation in kids signs and treatments so scary

which is why ward also helped author a petition to the FDA back in 2012 asking for a warning label an investigation into my relax

and FDA grant was awarded to the children's hospital of Pennsylvania in 2014

so far the study has found 167 cases of adverse side effects in children who took the

laxative including 37 kids who displayed neurological or psychiatric symptoms

and the FDA also disclosed that my relax powder was found to contain small amounts of the same toxic ingredients found in NT freeze

the parents like ward more than 13,000 and counting

are joining forces in the face book group called parents against more lax in order to stop the

recommendation of the medication known generically as peg 3350

two young children we are a group of parents and family members who are highly suspicious

of peg 3350 and are here to discuss its cons the group description reads

we discuss alternative options and ways to talk to doctors about our opposition to this very dangerous drug

or its part FDA told action news that there is not sufficient data to link pad 3352 serious narrow psychiatric issues in children

or to warrant any additional warnings at this time

however because many parents and Physicians rely on these products to treat serious constipation

the agency added we have decided to fund research to better determine the benefits of

risks associated with the use of these products in children

for now all that study is still ongoing

and the results will be disclosed to the FDA once they are released

but experts like David bunk in ND assistant professor of pediatric gastroenterologist at that all a GE at Mount Sinai in New York City

remain hopeful that the chops study will eventually confirm the laxatives safety

he told parents.com that while the FDA found trace amounts of two potentially toxic

chemicals in batches of more lax tested eight years ago

a lower ship a of the drug has since changed hands and follow-up screenings have not revealed the chemicals this medication has

been used safely for a long time in children without any known side effects and is a

medication we routinely use in our pediatric gastrointestinal specialty office

Dr. Bonk and explained we continue to prescribe it in cases where diet changes to help constipation are not effective or hossa

bowl and feel that it is likely safety has been children Dr. Bonk and sentiments echoed that of Steve Hodges ND

who wrote a 2015 o'clock bad for parents taught, about the safety of my relax

more than 100 studies have found paid 3350 is safe to use in children

and I have found no published studies linking my relax to severe or harmful side effects

Dr. Hodges wrote nonetheless I welcome all inquiries into the safety of this ubiquitous laxative

and I look forward to the results of the gov't funded study that will examine whether paid

3350 may trigger psychiatric problems in children

Short Stories For Kids | The Town Mouse And The Country Mouse | Animated Bedtime Stories For Kids - Duration: 3:32.

A town mouse once visited a relative

who lived in the country.

For the dinner,

Beans and bacon,

cheese and bread,

were all he had to offer,

but he offered them freely.

The Town mouse ate very sparingly,

nibbling a little of this and a little of that.

The country mouse realized that

the Town mouse didn't like the food she served!

After the meal,

the town mouse talked about her life in the city,

while the country mouse listened excitedly.

Then they went to bed in a cozy nest in the hedgerow,

and slept in quiet and comfort.

In her sleep,

the country mouse dreamed about all the luxuries and delights of city life

that her friend had described for her!

So the next day

when the town mouse asked the country mouse

to go home with her to the city,

she gladly said Yes!

When they reached the mansion

in which the town mouse lived,

they found on the table

the leavings of very fine bouquet!

There were sweetmeats and jellies,

pastries, delicious cheeses,

indeed the most tempting foods that a mouse can imagine!

The country mouse was so delighted seeing the food!

But just as the country mouse was about to nibble a dainty bit of pastry,

she heard a cat mew lightly

and scratch the door!

In great fear,

both the town mouse and the country mouse scurried to a hiding place!

They lay still for a very long time,

hardly taking a breath!

When at last they came out,

"Good bye cousin"

said the country mouse.

"What? Going so soon?"

asked the town mouse

The country mouse replied

"Yes! Better beans and bacon in peace,

than cakes in fear!"

The country mouse went back to his home

and lived in peace for a long time!

Gambia & USA "Relations" - lifting travel restrictions on Gambia government officials - Duration: 1:32.

SUBTITLED - Select Langue or Auto Translate

hi guys how's everybody today busy day today huh I this book is actually been

on Jenny Craig so it's doing a little bit better than it used to

ah good afternoon good to see you all a couple announcements I have to make and

the first you may recall the visa restrictions that were put on the

country of Gambia earlier this year we have an announcement to make on that on

September 30th 2017 the Department of Homeland Security notified the

department of state that Gambia denied or unreasonably delayed the return of

its nationals the United States ordered removed from the United States since

then the government of Gambia has worked diligently toward addressing our

concerns we are pleased to announce it on December 8th the secretary certified

that Gambia had met its international obligations

concerning the repatriation of its citizens and the United States has now

ended visa restrictions and has resumed normal visa processing in all visa

categories effective December the 12th ensuring that countries facilitate the

removal of their nationals who are subject to a final order of removal is a

high priority for the Department of State and this administration and we're

pleased that the Gambia took proactive steps to address all of concerns so

that's an update for you secondly something I'd like to mention on Yemen

the United States government announced an additional 130 million dollars in

emergency food assistance to Yemen through USAID today this now brings the

total u.s. contribution

Episode 29 - Engagement Party - Duration: 8:26.

[Dial tone]

[Pickup]

ROSLYN: You've reached the Love and Luck Podcast.

[Music]

[Beep]

[Hangup]

[Beep]

JASON: [Groans] I miss you.

I don't want to go to the stupid country, I want to stay home and hang out in our bar with you.

I wish I could have at least brought you with me!

Although then the bar wouldn't have been able to stay open...

[Sighs]

This train smells weird and I don't wanna be here.

I miss you.

Can I come home now?

[Hangup]

[Beep]

KANE: I miss you too, honey, and I would love for you to come home but I think your sister

might be a bit upset if you missed her engagement party.

The bar doesn't feel the same without you, but things are pretty good here.

Sarah and Mira are helping out a lot, as much as I tell them they don't have to.

They've been befriending a lot of customers too, which is really good actually because

I think they're turning some occasionals into regulars.

At least two people who've come in today said they came back because Sarah or Mira was so

nice to them the last time they were here.

Also, the Papa Bear thing is starting to catch on big time, so don't be surprised if you

come home and I've forgotten my real name, okay?

[Hangup]

[Beep]

JASON: Aw, don't worry Papa Bear, I'm sure I can get used to calling you that instead of Kane!

[Hangup]

[Beep]

KANE: Hmph, not quite what I was aiming for.

I should get the kids to come up with a name for you too so I can at least fight back.

Hope the party is going well.

If I remember the invitation correctly, it should have started about an hour ago at the

time of me leaving this message.

Good luck!

[Hangup]

[Beep]

JASON: Kane, rescue me.

People are so incredibly straight here.

I've had at least three people look scandalized when I said I have a boyfriend, and at least

two women titter about it like I'm doing something naughty just by being in a relationship.

Ugh.

At this point I'm just drinking free booze and waiting for my suffering to end.

Oh good, speeches are about to start.

At least now people will focus on that instead of trying to talk to me.

[Hangup]

[Beep]

KANE: Oof honey, that sounds rough.

I hope the speeches weren't too painful and the straight people stopped being weird around you.

They better get over that thoroughly though, because I sure as shit am not missing your sister's wedding.

I love weddings.

And I love you.

[Hangup]

[Beep]

JASON: You like weddings???

Seriously???

Weddings are a... outdated, sexist, heteronormative tool of the patriarchy!

What the hell is there to like about them???

[Hangup]

[Beep]

KANE: I mean, yeah, weddings are definitely outdated, sexist, heteronormative tools of the patriarchy.

But also, they're pretty.

Everyone is dressed up and happy, and there's good food, and people are in love,

and it's a celebration of friends and family and community...

I don't know, I think there's a lot to love about weddings.

Even if they are, y'know, all the other stuff as well.

Oh shit, big group of customers just came in.

See you.

[Hangup]

[Beep]

JASON: So, uh... hey.

Does this mean that like... marriage is a thing you're into?

Like... is that a... thing, long term?

Is it like...

I mean... do you want to get married someday?

Is that... do you want that?

[Hangup]

[Beep]

JASON: I mean, I'm not saying I wouldn't marry you if you wanted??

But like... you know, it kind of freaks me out a lot, and...

I don't know, I mean, if it's important to you, I guess we can talk about it, or something? I mean...

I really am kind of against it, in general, on principle, or whatever... but like...

I mean, if you really wanted to get married, I guess I'm okay with discussing that?

I think?

I guess?

Fuck.

[Hangup]

[Beep]

KANE: Oh my god Jason, okay, no.

No... that was... that was definitely not what I was trying to say.

I like other people's weddings.

I like attending weddings.

I definitely do not want to get married.

That's... yeah, no, that's not what I meant at all.

That's not something I want.

You can breathe easy on that front.

Like...

I could imagine us doing it if we needed some kind of legal... whatever?

But de facto couples get, like, almost all the same rights anyway, and... yeah, no.

No, marriage is not something I'm chasing, don't worry.

I mean, it'd be kinda cool to have the big party, though.

We already have a good reception place...

Hey, should we advertise as a small reception venue for queer weddings and commitment ceremonies and stuff?

That seems like something we should probably consider doing, huh.

[Hangup]

[Beep]

JASON: Oh my god, I have never been so relieved to receive a voicemail before.

Like just... oh my god.

My blood pressure is returning to normal, I can feel it.

I love you, thank you for not wanting to get married.

I actually would have picked you up if I'd noticed you calling this time, I was so anxious about

the whole marriage question thing, but we did a maccas run before heading home for the

night and I was in a very serious discussion about nutella donuts with my sister's fiance

at that point.

So, you know.

I had my priorities right, obviously.

Anyway.

That's a good idea about the queer wedding receptions.

And I mean... don't get me wrong, just because I have... opinions about the institution of marriage

doesn't mean that I have a problem with people doing something that makes them happy.

I'm all for fancy cakes and pretty clothes and making out in front of all your friends.

[Sighs] I should head to bed.

I have to be up at fucking sparrow's fart tomorrow to catch the train home.

I love you.

I can't wait to be back in our little queer bubble.

[Hangup]

[Beep]

KANE: Looking forward to having you home, honey.

I hope you sleep well.

I love you.
