Youtube daily report w May 29 2018

It is time to end the series on Laserdisc.

I know, I know, it's tragic, but I've been putting it off and and its long overdue.

Many new subscribers have perhaps not seen any of my Laserdisc series, and I'll place

a link to the playlist down below.

As the fastest recap possible,

Laserdiscs were the first optical disc format, predating the CD by four years, and they held

up to an hour of excellent quality video--nearly that of DVD--with CD quality digital sound.

They never achieved great success in the US or really all of Europe due to the high cost of the system

and the inability to record television shows on them, but in Japan they were pretty successful

reaching about a 10% market penetration.

I'd also like to just throw in here because I keep forgetting to do so, I'm on Twitter

now @TechConnectify.

That's only the second time I've mentioned that and I've had it for two months now.

I'm really good at this!

Now, this final video on the format goes over three things: One, the discs popularity in

karaoke, two the Japan-only Squeeze LD format and Three, the MUSE high definition Laserdisc.

We'll start with that because that's what's the title and thumbnail said.

Japan, being Japan, was way ahead of the rest of the world when it came to high definition

television.

As an American, I think of HD as being a product of the early 2000's, especially with the

introduction of Blu-Ray and HD-DVD in 2006 providing the first form of high definition

home video.

That is of course only if you don't count the first D-Theater D-VHS releases from 2002.

And I am aware that the first HD broadcast in the US took place in 1996, but adoption

didn't really take off until 2004-2005.

But in Japan, a new analog High Definition standard began test broadcasts in 1989 via

satellite, and it was in development as far back as 1979.

This standard was called MUSE, which was a sloppy acronym for Multiple sub-Nyquist Sampling Encoding.

NHK, the national broadcasting company in Japan, preferred the name Hi-Vision.

The actual specifics of MUSE are very very complicated and involve some strange sampling

techniques to increase the resolution that go way over my head.

Apparently it's not strictly analog but also includes some digital sampling that is

limited by movement within the frame and it's just real weird so please visit some of the

links down below if you'd like to learn more.

But in simple terms, MUSE produced a video source nearly equivalent to today's 1080i resolution.

With 1,125 lines transmitted, of which 1035 were visible, you could call the resolution 1035i.

And similar to NTSC, it used a 60 hz refresh rate.

To get the MUSE signal on a Laserdisc required tweaking the format somewhat.

The most significant twist was the adoption of a red laser.

If you thought DVD was the first format to use the red laser, think again.

Just as the pits in a DVD are smaller and allow for more data on the disc compared to

a CD, the smaller pits of MUSE laserdiscs allowed for a higher bandwidth analog signal

than a conventional Laserdisc.

Hi-Vision Laserdiscs used the same CAV and CLV flavors of your standard discs, but due

to a higher linear speed required--apparently the pits were still the same length, just

squished closer together-- CAV discs used a smaller portion of the disc, with the inner

radius being pushed out 76 millimeters.

And CLV discs used the entire face of the disc, but the inner portion was read at 2,700 RPM.

My word.

That is ridiculous.

OK, just as a reminder, these discs weigh a tad over 200g, or just under half a pound.

And a consumer piece of A/V equipment would get this massive disc spinning at 2,700 RPM.

If the disc were rolling, it would be travelling at 152.6 kilometers per hour, or about 95

miles per hour.

In your living room.

For more context into this absurdity, a standard Laserdisc spins at up to 1,800 RPM and already

that seems too fast for comfort.

Just listen to this player spin a disc up.

[loud, building whirring noise, with a bassy vibration]

To be fair, this old beast is louder than

newer players, but newer players are still plenty frightening when their covers are off.

[mechanical sounds as transport engages with disc]

[Slightly less loud whirring noise, but still at unsettling speeds]

Now imagine that 50% faster.

Yikes.

Anyway, even though Japan was early for HD, and MUSE Laserdisc was among the earliest

ways to get HD content, it was the Laserdisc of Laserdiscs.

Adoption was very poor, and the players were mighty expensive.

Plus, they required a separate MUSE decoder to actually create a component output to send

to your TV.

But still, near 1080i video on a disc in the mid nineties?

That's pretty wild.

Today, these MUSE Laserdisc players are highly sought after for numerous reasons.

First is probably their collectability and relative rarity.

And trust me, they aren't common.

As I write this, on eBay there's a player with an asking price of $1800, and someone

else wants nearly $4000 for theirs.

Discs are also hideously expensive, commanding $300 or more.

But aside from their novelty, they are among the best laserdisc players available.

These players used their red laser to read standard NTSC laserdiscs too, and the shorter wavelength

of the laser means it could read discs more easily.

Scratched and worn discs play better on a MUSE machine.

Really, all discs play better on MUSE machines because the red laser almost entirely eliminates

crosstalk, and its more advanced electronics produce a better output.

Moving on then, for those that aren't already aware, karaoke is a BIG deal in many parts

of Asia.

Much of Laserdisc's success came from Asia at large, and some of this was due to its

seemingly perfect alignment with the karaoke business.

Karaoke, after all, began in Japan.

Pioneer was involved in the karaoke business to a surprising degree, apparently producing

many of the music videos used in karaoke machines.

Which, of course, were made very flexible with the use of Laserdiscs.

Pioneer made various models of Laserdisc jukeboxes that could hold 50 or more discs.

These machines, with catalogs of up to 100 hours of material available all in one place,

helped make Laserdisc the format of choice for karaoke machines.

To be clear, though, there were and are many different types of karaoke venue; those that

would have one of the Laserdisc jukeboxes were probably in a small percentage of the

total.

Still, laserdisc as a format was used fairly widely.

Now, if you weren't aware, a large innovation in Karaoke was the development of the CD+G

format, that's compact disc-graphics.

Using the rarely-used subcode channels of an audio CD, the CD+G was able to store basic

graphics (16 colors at a resolution of 300 X 216) alongside the audio.

Karaoke machines displayed these graphics, which were usually lyrics, while playing a disc.

Laserdisc received a similar extension.

The LD-G addition wasn't quite as impressive, though.

Info on its specifics is sparse, but it appears it was more along the lines of a closed-captioning

system, with white text on black boxes resembling the standard line 21 decoding we have here

in the States.

The actual data was hidden in the audio stream.

While it wasn't as impressive as CD-Graphics...

it's a Laserdisc so it has full motion

video going on already.

Plus, the LD-G standard supported 16 different data streams, so multiple languages of lyrics

or subtitles could be supported.

Whether or not LD-G made its way into karaoke is unclear, but it's still pretty neat.

Well, it seems as though this final installment will be pretty short.

I suppose it is pretty much a "here's three other things we haven't talked about

Laserdisc yet!" episode.

Hmm.

Well anyway, the third and final thing is what we are going to refer to as "Squeeze LD"

because that's what it's called.

Just as DVD can store the video on discs anamorphically,

whereby the image is squeezed in from side

to side, Laserdisc could do it too!

But only in Japan.

And only sometimes.

So as a refresher, the reason why this is a good idea is that for widescreen displays,

it really helps if the content going to them is also widescreen.

We could create a new 16:9 video standard, but sending a 16:9 signal to a 4:3 display

might get messy.

What we want is something that would be compatible with both.

Anamorphic widescreen is a way to use the existing 4:3 video standard for widescreen

in a non-destructive way.

In a DVD, if the disc is made using anamorphic widescreen, the actual video looks like this.

If this signal is going to a widescreen display, A DVD player will send this as is, and the

TV will stretch that image out to fill itself in.

If you don't have a widescreen TV, then the DVD player will squish the image downward

and add letterboxes to the top and bottom to restore the correct aspect ratio.

Of course you can encode the video with the letterboxing, but then you're wasting much

of the resolution on black bars.

This means to fill a widescreen display, you have to zoom it in.

And if you make these chunks go offscreen, you're making all of that resolution just

go away.

By using anamorphic widescreen, none of the image is lost, it just becomes stretched.

To use digital terms, it takes pixels that should be square and stretches them sideways

into rectangles.

But of course Laserdisc isn't digital so there aren't pixels.

Let's not go down that path…

Squeeze LD was perhaps the first time anamorphic widescreen was found in home video.

But it was rare for players to be able to unsqueeze the image--few Laserdisc players

had the ability to self-letterbox like any DVD player can.

So unless you had a 16:9 television, which was a rare thing even in Japan while Laserdisc

was still current, a Squeeze LD would actually really suck.

As you can imagine they aren't particularly common, and they were never released in the States.

Well, that about covers it.

I think we said all there is to say about Laserdisc.

Except no!

There's one more thing!

A bonus fact!

There WERE recordable Laserdiscs!

And in at least three varieties.

Just like the CD-R is a thing, so was the LD-R. Except they were really called RLV for

Recordable Laser Videodisc.

Now, Wikipedia tells us with no accompanying citation that these were developed and marketed

by the Optical Disc Corporation in 1984.

I've linked some forum threads down below which shed some light on the issue, and it

could be that fewer than 10 machines ever existed which could write to these RLVs.

But, once written, they were compatible with standard Laserdisc players, just as a CD-R is

with any old CD player.

Usually.

The second variety was actually re-writable.

The Pioneer VDR-V1000 was a behemoth of a machine, equipped with 2 lasers to enable

reading in one place while writing in another, and the caddy-protected discs had a theoretical

lifespan of one million re-writes.

But, this thing was definitely for professional use only, with a retail price of £25,000.

Discs, though, were quite the bargain at only £800.

Sony developed a third, almost unrelated writable video standard called CRV, which rather than

being a midsize crossover...

I mean a re-writable disc, was a write-once read-many format, but it only held 24 minutes

per side.

It was mainly used as a video backup system in the professional market.

Interesting, CRV stands for Component Recordable Video disc, which makes me wonder if it stored

component signals rather than composite.

Perhaps that would explain its reduced runtime.

There might have been more recordable versions of Laserdisc out there, but information on

them is scarce.

A lot of info for this video came from forum threads on the Laserdisc archive, the Laserdisc

Database, and even CED magic.

I've put some links down below if you'd like to take a look at these conversations.

I believe I owe particular thanks to Disclord for his knowledge.

Well now, that is all I have to say about Laserdisc.

I'm sure we'll look at it again in some fashion, especially as I want to get this

machine working again, but I think I've compiled everything you might want to know

about the format into video form, if I do say so myself.

Well, I'm sure that's not true, but hopefully most of it.

As always, thank you so much for watching.

And thank you to everyone who supports this channel on Patreon,

especially these fine individuals.

I know I've said this before, but support from Patreon literally is what keeps these

videos coming.

Very soon this channel will become my full-time job thanks to the amazing support you've pledged.

Thank you.

- Mm-hmm, so it's matter of dignity.

- What would you call it?

My six-year old son keeps making fun

of my receding hairline, it's humiliating.

- When your son makes fun of you,

what do you say to him?

- I've asked him politely to stop,

I've told him that it hurts my feelings,

I've put him in time out, nothing works.

He just keeps pointing to my head and saying,

"Where did you hair go, daddy?"

- Ouch; frustrating, right?

- What do you do when your son keeps touching your head

and saying stuff like, "Baldy, baldy"

over and over again?

It makes me feel like less of a man.

- Have you considered medical solutions?

Something like Propecia?

- It's very expensive and insanely dangerous

for my pregnant wife.

- What does your wife think of all this?

- She thinks it's funny (laughs).

You know, she actually jokes that I'm going bald

because I have too much testosterone.

That's true, you know.

Men that have receding hairlines have

more testosterone than average.

- Sounds like when you're around your child,

you're ashamed of your hair, but around your wife,

you're fine.

- Yeah, she's cool with it.

She calls me "testy" for all the extra testosterone.

- Perhaps the next time your son makes fun of you,

you can try and see yourself through your wife's eyes.

- Yeah, like why am I letting a child define who I am?

My wife knows way more about me than he does.

- What can you do to keep that feeling around?

- I'd say, "Leo, daddy's bald because he's more of a man."

- Okay.

- I'd say, "Oh, you think it's funny

"that I'm going bald, do you, huh?"

- Uh-huh.

- "You know who doesn't think it's funny?

"Mommy, she loves it, it drives her wild."

- Okay.

- I'll tell him, "You know what?"

I'll say, "You don't even know

"the kind of stuff she does for me.

"She goes crazy, you can't imagine

"some of the stuff she does for me.

"She'll do anything, I mean anything."

- Okay, well, that's inappropriate to say to a child.

- You're right.

He needs to see it with his own eyes.

- No, no he doesn't.

Maybe you should just shave it all off.

- Okay, like Bruce Willis.

- I think you're more of a Howie Mandel.

- Oh.

40 Outrageous Facts Most People Don't Know - Duration: 13:11.

40 Outrageous Facts Most People Dont Know

Once you go down the rabbit hole, you will discover things that most people dont know.

Here are 40 outrageous facts that most people are clueless about.

1. The IRS is not a U.S. Government Agency. It is an Agency of the IMF. (Diversified Metal

Products v. IRS et al. CV-93-405E-EJE U.S.D.C.D.I., Public Law 94-564, Senate Report 94-1148 pg.

5967, Reorganization Plan No. 26, Public Law 102-391.)

2. The IMF is an Agency of the UN. (Blacks Law Dictionary 6th Ed. Pg. 816)

3. The U.S. Has not had a Treasury since 1921. (41 Stat. Ch.214 pg. 654)

4. The U.S. Treasury is now the IMF. (Presidential Documents Volume 29-No.4 pg. 113, 22 U.S.C.

285-288)

5. The United States does not have any employees because there is no longer a United States.

No more reorganizations. After over 200 years of operating under bankruptcy its finally

over. (Executive Order 12803) Do not personate one of the creditors or share holders or you

will go to Prison.18 U.S.C. 914

6. The FCC, CIA, FBI, NASA and all of the other alphabet gangs were never part of the

United States government. Even though the US Government held shares of stock in

the various Agencies. (U.S. V. Strang , 254 US 491, Lewis v. US, 680 F.2d, 1239)

7. Social Security Numbers are issued by the UN through the IMF. The Application for a

Social Security Number is the SS5 form. The Department of the Treasury (IMF) issues the

SS5 not the Social Security Administration. The new SS5 forms do not state who or what

publishes them, the earlier SS5 forms state that they are Department of the Treasury forms.

You can get a copy of the SS5 you filled out by sending form SSA-L996 to the SS Administration.

(20 CFR chapter 111, subpart B 42 2.103 (b) (2) (2) Read the cites above)

8. There are no Judicial courts in America and there has not been since 1789. Judges

do not enforce Statutes and Codes. Executive Administrators enforce Statutes and Codes.

(FRC v. GE 281 US 464, Keller v. PE 261 US 428, 1 Stat. 138-178)

9. There have not been any Judges in America since 1789. There have just been Administrators.

12. The UN is a One World Super Government.

13. No one on this planet has ever been free. This planet is a Slave Colony. There has always

been a One World Government. It is just that now it is much better organized and has changed

its name as of 1945 to the United Nations.

14. New York City is defined in the Federal Regulations as the United Nations. Rudolph

Gulliani stated on C-Span that New York City was the capital of the World and he

was correct. (20 CFR chapter 111, subpart B 422.103 (b) (2) (2)

15. Social Security is not insurance or a contract, nor is there a Trust Fund. (Helvering

v. Davis 301 US 619, Steward Co. V. Davis 301 US 548.)

16. Your Social Security check comes directly from the IMF which is an Agency of the UN.

(Look at it if you receive one. It should have written on the top left United States

Treasury.)

done to this nation, we would be chased down in the streets and lynched.

George Bush Senior speaking in an interview with Sarah McClendon in December 1992

21. You can not use the Constitution to defend yourself because you are not a party to it.

(Padelford Fay & Co. v. The Mayor and Alderman of The City of Savannah 14 Georgia 438, 520)

22. America is a British Colony. (THE UNITED STATES IS A CORPORATION, NOT A LAND MASS AND

IT EXISTED BEFORE THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR AND THE BRITISH TROOPS DID NOT LEAVE UNTIL 1796.)

Respublica v. Sweers 1 Dallas 43, Treaty of Commerce 8 Stat 116, The Society for Propagating

in America in Fee Simple.

37. The good news is we dont have to fulfill our fictitious obligations. You can

discharge a fictitious obligation with anothers fictitious obligation.

38. The depression and World War II were a total farce. The United States and various

other companies were making loans to others all over the World during the Depression.

The building of Germanys infrastructure in the 1930s including the Railroads was financed

by the United States. That way those who call themselves Kings, Prime Ministers,

and Furor.etc could sit back and play a game of chess using real people. Think of

all of the Americans, Germans etc. who gave their lives thinking they were defending their

Countries which didnt even exist. The millions of innocent people who died for nothing. Isnt

it obvious why Switzerland is never involved in these fiascoes? That is where the Bank

of International Settlementsis located.Wars are manufactured to keep your eye off the

ball. You have to have an enemy to keep the illusion of Government in place.

39. The United States did not declare Independence from Great Britian or King George.

40. The etymology of government means to control the mind. From Latinised Greek gubernatio

management, government, from Ancient Greek ??e???s??, ??????s?? (kybernismos,

kybernesis) steering, pilotage, guiding, from ??e???? (kybernao) to steer, to

drive, to guide, to act as a pilot plus Latin mente mind.

Elderly Woman Catches 4 Boys Sneaking Into Yard, Weeps When She Realizes What They're Doing - Duration: 2:39.

Elderly Woman Catches 4 Boys Sneaking Into Yard, Weeps When She Realizes What They're

Doing This little 75 year old woman was about to

be arrested and taken away in hand cuffs when a group of young boys in Texas stepped up.

They never even met this woman but they didn't want to see her got to jail because her grass

was over 18 inches tall.

Gerry Suttle is the 75-years-old woman, she was issued a notice to appear in front of

a judge regarding grass on her land being unkept.

The law states that grass needs to be under 18 inches, Suttle said she was unaware of

this law.

The woman also said that she hadn't received the letter regarding a court date with the

judge.

Unfortunately, when she failed to appear in court a warrent was issued for her arrest.

When a group of local young boys heard about the woman's arrest warrant they immediately

jumped into action to help."IT'S A SUMMER DAY, WE DON'T HAVE SEASON PASSES YET TO

WARREN FALLS.

WHAT ELSE COULD WE DO?

JUST GO OUT AND HELP SOME PEOPLE"

The boys knew that she need their help she was 75 years old it was the 'least we could

do' one of the boys said.

The boys effort was about more then cutting grass in the overgrown yard it was about keeping

her from going to jail, being kind, and treating others with respect.

Shortly after the boys began mowing the lawn, other neighbors in the area began to notice

their efforts.

It was over 90 degrees and the boys were using push mowers to mow the large lot. That's

when some of the neighbors showed up with riding mowers and began to help the boys with

the enormous job.

With everyone's help the lawn was mowed and looking beautiful in a short 2 hours.

Suttle came out she was shocked!

She couldn't believe what the boys and her neighbors had done for her and she was left

completely speechless.

"I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS.

I'M VERY SELDOM WITHOUT WORDS.

BUT THIS IS ONE TIME, YOU MARK IT DOWN IN HISTORY.

THAT I DIDN'T HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY"She couldn't believe it!

These young boys would go out of their way to help an old woman like her, for no reason.

Her faith in the younger generation has been restored.

"I REALLY WOULDN'T WANT HER COMING OUT HERE DOING IT OR PAYING A BUNCH OF MONEY.

WHEN WE COULD HAVE JUST DONE IT FOR FREE"If we all did one thing a day randomly to show

others in the world kindness.

The world would certainly be a much better place to live.

Rudy Giuliani Says Collusion Could Have Happened During Awkward CNN Interview - Duration: 3:37.

On Sunday morning, Rudy Giuliani thought it would be a good idea to go on CNN and talk

about the latest in the Robert Mueller investigation.

As you would expect, Rudy Giuliani immediately went off the rails and quite possibly admitted

that yes, people in the Trump administration actually did commit a crime.

Take a look at the clip.

How are you so sure that there was no collusion with anybody in the campaign?

We don't know exactly what Robert Mueller and his team has right now.

Do you know something we don't?

Well, yeah.

50 years of investigatory experience tells me they don't have a darn thing because they

would have used it already and they wouldn't be off on collusion, they wouldn't be off

on Manafort, they wouldn't be off on Cohen.

You got a good case, man, you go right to it and against the President of the United

States?

You got something and you don't start charging it?

Come on.

It will be out there immediately.

Well, maybe not necessarily against the president himself, but people in his orbit.

You're confident that there is no collusion?

I can't be confident about my client.

I mean am I confident because I was in that campaign at a very intimate level?

Nobody talked about Russians.

Nobody knew about Russians.

This came as a surprise to me, to the president, and to the top four or five people around

him.

Now you go out to the outer orbit, how do I know what's going on?

I don't think that would matter.

This is collusion with a guy 50 rungs down on the campaign.

Not that I'm saying it happened, but if it did, I don't know what that means.

You know, I love how Giuliani ends that clip.

"I don't know what it means," he says.

Well, I think everybody watching knows exactly what it means and it means that Donald Trump

hired the worst attorney in the United States.

I mean seriously, you had one job.

That one job is to go out there and convince the public and argue in front of Robert Mueller

that collusion never happened.

Here you go on CNN with Alisyn Camerota and you say, "I can't be confident that it didn't

happen.

It probably wasn't Trump.

Maybe some guy 50 rungs down the ladder," even though we know it was a guy who's about

one rung down the ladder and possibly even Trump himself considering all the evidence

we have about Jared Kushner and Donald Trump Jr.

Yeah.

Look, I want Donald Trump to go down as much as the next guy, but at this point, it's just

a little too easy.

I mean I almost feel some sympathy for the guy here because he has hired the worst attorney

in the country.

I don't actually feel sympathy for him, so please don't yell at me for saying that.

Here's the thing, Giuliani should know better.

I mean the guy just celebrated his 74th birthday.

74 years old.

All right?

He's had 74 years to get it together and yet every time he goes out in the media, does

an interview, it becomes a massive train wreck.

This is not the first time that Giuliani has admitted that maybe this administration or

the campaign committed crimes.

"I don't know.

I'm new here.

I haven't gone through everything yet" was the last excuse they gave for his horrible

interview where he admitted that Trump may have paid off other affairs that he had had.

Here we are, folks.

Rudy Giuliani going out there in the media constantly making a jackass out of himself

and possibly implicating his client, Donald Trump, in more crimes.

What The Real Life Gerber Baby Looks Like Today - Duration: 4:01.

From almost the moment baby food was introduced to American markets, there has been the Gerber

Baby.

But that iconic face wasn't the brainchild of a hotshot marketing executive, or a professional

advertising wizard.

In fact, the image was based on a very real person.

So what happened to that mystery child?

Here's a look at the untold truth of the real life Gerber Baby.

Babyface

In 1928, the folks at Gerber held a contest to find a mascot for their new line of baby

food.

After putting out a call to artists, they received numerous submissions.

Among them was a simple charcoal sketch by artist Dorothy Hope Smith, who intended it

as a sample to show what she could do.

But the folks at Gerber loved it the way it was, and an icon was born.

David Yates, vice president of Gerber's North American operations, told the Associated Press,

"The logo is the essence of who we are.

It is the epitome of a happy, healthy baby and the symbol of trust we have with parents.

It's everything to our company."

Mystery solved

For nearly fifty years, Gerber kept the identity of the Gerber Baby secret, in part because

they didn't want people to know whether the baby was a boy or a girl, since they wanted

all consumers to feel like the Gerber Baby could be their baby.

The mystery led to all sorts of wacky theories, with people thinking the Gerber Baby was anyone

from Humphrey Bogart to Elizabeth Taylor to former senator Bob Dole.

Finally, in 1978, the company revealed that the Gerber Baby is actually Ann Turner Cook,

who was just four months old when she was sketched by Dorothy Hope Smith, who was her

neighbor.

Cook told CBS Sunday Morning,

"I always had that expression with my mouth hanging open.

Kind of a quizzical expression.

[…] when I was very young, I probably was about three years old, when mother pointed

out the baby food jar and said that that was my picture.

And I thought it was quite a lovely thing."

She kept it to herself, though, telling Oprah's Where Are They Now?

"All the years when I went to college and so forth, I didn't tell people that I was

the model for the Gerber Baby.

That would seem a little self-promoting.

It's not an achievement of mine, it's the achievement of the artist is the way I look

at it."

Cook, who is now a retired teacher living in Florida, celebrated her 91st birthday at

the end of 2017.

Baby got bank

Despite being the face of a major national corporation, Cook didn't actually get paid

for being the Gerber Baby until around 1950.

After another person came forward claiming to be the mascot, Gerber paid Cook a lump

sum to head off any potential legal trouble.

Cook said that the money came at the perfect time.

"The first time that I was compensated was at a time that my husband [...] had come back

from overseas, and he was in the Navy during World War II, and we had absolutely no money

at that time."

Cook still had to work for her entire life, though, spending 26 years as a teacher - which

led to a few challenges.

"Did it ever come up in class?"

"Yes, of course.

The students knew.

I didn't tell 'em!"

A life of mystery

Beyond teaching and being an iconic advertising logo, Cook also carved out a niche for herself

as a writer.

Appropriately, given the secrecy around the Gerber Baby's true identity, Cook is a mystery

novelist, with a series of books featuring crime-solving journalist Brandy O'Bannon.

Cook told the Associated Press that she uses her fame as the gerber Baby as a hook to draw

in potential readers.

"In a way, I might be exploiting it a little.

Being the Gerber Baby helps get people interested.

I don't think it sells books, but it gets people interested in what I have to say."

Representation matters

As America has become more diverse, so too have the babies that have starred in the Gerber

company's ads over the years.

In 2018, Lucas Warren, an 18 month old baby from Georgia with Down's Syndrome, became

the newest Gerber Baby.

Bill Partyka, chief executive and president of Gerber, told the Washington Post,

"Every year, we choose the baby who best exemplifies Gerber's long-standing heritage of recognizing

that every baby is a Gerber baby.

This year, Lucas is the perfect fit."

Cook had kind things to say about the selection, which Gerber shared in a Facebook post.

"Let me offer my warmest congratulations to Lucas, our newest Gerber spokesbaby, and to

his parents.

I know you will take great pride in representing Gerber this year, as I have for the past 90

years.

There is no greater privilege than to be a universal symbol for babies all over the world.

I am delighted to take part in this celebration.

Lucas is precious and I look forward to watching him grow this year!"

Dog Takes 4 Bullets Saving Boy From Robbers - Family Alone Couldn't Pay For Surgery To Save Him - Duration: 3:14.

Dog Takes 4 Bullets Saving Boy From Robbers - Family Alone Couldn't Pay For Surgery To

Save Him

There is a reason a dog is called a man's best friend.

A dog is loyal, loving, and brave.

He will do whatever it takes to protect his master, even if the cost is his own health.

Meet one pet who is the perfect example of these heroic attributes.

Rex is a two-year-old German shepherd who lives with his family in Des Moines, Washington.

He was home alone with his 16-year-old owner, Javier Mercado, when something unexpected

happened.

It was up to Rex to step up and be a hero.

The two were home alone when some burglars broke into the apartment.

Javier's first instinct was to get out of sight.

"My nephew hid in the bedroom closet as he frightened, held as hard as he could to

his barking dog," shared Susy Cadena, Javier's aunt, on the GoFundMe page she created for

the pup.

Javier tried to keep Rex quiet, but the animal knew what had to be done.

" Rex's instinct to protect his home and his best friend, took him downstairs and he

attacked the burglars," Susy explained.

The sight and sound of a snarling dog would be enough to scare most robbers off, but unfortunately,

it didn't work in this case.

"Both of the burglars struggled and beat him up with whatever they could," Susy shared.

"Rex stormed back to the upstairs floor all beat up and bloody from the beating to

check on his master who was still hiding in the closet."

The two tried to keep out of sight, but soon the burglars made their way upstairs and trashed

the bedrooms.

Then they came into the room Javier and Rex were hiding in.

This dog may have lost the first fight, but he was not about to let these intruders harm

his owner.

The dog came back to life, and he went into full attack mode.

The robbers shot Rex with four bullets before being scared away by the sound of a siren.

Finally, the crime was over.

But now the poor pup had a bigger problem.

Rex was in desperate need of medical attention.

He was taken to BluePearl Veterinary Partners, where he needed scans, x-rays, and other treatments.

The dog would need surgery if he was going to survive.

Susy reached out for help through her GoFundMe page.

"Rex's life depends on a surgery he will need to survive … [Our] family can not let

Rex the hero dog go without us fighting as hard as he did, to his very last bit of a

strength while protecting my nephew."

In just three days, the family raised over $58,000.

This was almost six times their original goal of $10,000.

The Mercado family could not be more grateful for all the help.

"We have exceeded the goal and we just wanted to assure you that all the money will go toward

Rex's medical expenses and his recovery," Susy assured their contributors.

"Anything left will be donated to institutions and organizations whose mission is to protect

our loved pets."

This whole ordeal has taught Javier a valuable lesson about how deep a dog's love runs.

"I feel like if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be here today telling you this story," he

told King 5 News.

Rex is one brave dog, and we hope for his speedy recovery.

Why Add a Video to an Email | Brighton West Video - Duration: 1:30.

If you want people to watch your YouTube video, add cats. But if you want them to

open your email, then add video. Hi I'm Brighton West. I help coaches authors and

speakers who want to use YouTube to reach a global audience, And today I'm

going to be talking about why you should be using video inside your emails. But

there's a conundrum. Video is great inside email, but most email programs

aren't very friendly to video so if you're using Gmail or or MailChimp or

Infusionsoft or ConvertKit all these are really good at letting you put in

hyperlinks, which is just the text which people aren't really all that excited to

click on them. They might scroll right by that. Or they allow you to put

in images, but people don't want to click on those either because it's just an image.

What we need is a big image with a play button in the middle that then links the

viewer and whisk them off to YouTube. So there's a second conundrum, and that is

if you go to YouTube to download the thumbnail or even just do a screenshot

of it, you don't get a play button. So here's the good news.

I had my developer put together a tool that I'm going to share with you. It's on

my website and what it does is it puts that play button onto images. You can

even just take a URL from YouTube and it'll pop a play button on it. Then you

download that image and put it into your email. So I just popped two things onto

the screen: the top one is a link directly to that tool if you're ready to

go and start using it you can click up here, and the bottom one is a link to a

video that shows you how to use the tool.

PGI quals LIVE from NAVI Bootcamp - Duration: 19:33.

Lera, hello.

There are a lot of questions in the comments regarding where Drainys and Shade went.

Can you comment on this situation?

Yes, Svyat had to go home because of personal reasons, nothing serious, everything is fine.

Regarding Shade, he has school exams, and since he isn't playing PGI qualifiers, we've let him go.

Is bootcamp a good thing in terms of tournament preparation, teamplay improvement, and so on?

If we there was a tournament to prepare for, it would've been useful.

And if we'd played practice games every day, then yes, but we've played practice games only twice, so...

It's half useful.

The teamplay is improving, everything's fine.

Look, I'll do it in a first try. Are you watching?

The shed on the left is taken, I'm parking to the right, get ready, Drainys.

Watch out for campers, save the car.

It's fine.

Guys, why did you block me?

Enter the shed.

Just don't get knocked.

If you enter the shed, no one will touch you.

25, a lot of enemies.

Can we kill them? They've spotted us.

There was a guy on the left side of the tree.

I've knocked one.

Vanya, don't engage without me.

He was somewhere at 15.

Did they revive another guy?

I don't know.

There is a guy in the smoke, running away, should we go?

There might be someone behind.

Let's retreat, we need smokes.

We need to stay together, we don't have smokes.

Don't reveal yourself.

What about smokes?

No, we are pushing, they are shooting someone else.

Let's just push with grenades.

Together, no, no, no, only together!

Let's kill behind the car, there are three guys on the left.

One is down.

Awesome!

Someone ran through the field.

I see, it's not important.

They are shooting very far.

Someone can still be here.

Did you kill the guy behind?

I don't know, maybe.

On the right! Kill them! They are outside of the zone, other guys will focus them as well.

Do you have a smoke?

No.

I'll try to crawl to this car.

No, I won't.

They are not in the zone.

They are being killed, two dead.

Don't you have any vehicle nearby?

Try to find smokes.

You have a bike, it's behind the rocks.

Good, let's go further.

There might be someone behind that tree.

Don't rush, you have some time.

Someone can be on the left, watch out. Spread out a bit.

Enemy might be here.

Let him crawl, you wouldn't make it.

You have to take his place. Try to revive him.

Move to the zone immediately.

You have to take that place, guys.

Check your left.

Wait, don't engage, Lamich.

Lie here.

Don't touch anything, don't heal.

We need to start with that hill.

When I was driving, I saw a lot of cars, every spot was occupied.

If we decide to skip it, we should move towards...

We should drive here, a car can spawn here as well.

On the left, he is coming.

Don't rush.

There is a guy outside.

He opened my door, Drainys.

Kill him.

Another one on the right!

How do they enter? It's not good.

Yea...

Are you driving behind?

No, we are far away.

I'm dead, then.

We are behind, let's help him.

They are shooting from below as well.

One guy is behind the tree, providing info.

There are the guys shooting from SE.

Be careful, SE-140, very close.

You could've done it silently.

Are there a lot of them?

They are running in front of me.

Drainys, could you?

There is a guy up close.

He is aiming towards Drainys.

Try to heal.

He is coming from above.

Nice.

Finish him, don't die!

Behind the tree.

I'm healing up.

Drainys, are you ready to help me?

Come here, quickly.

They are above, towards 70, behind the tree.

There are a lot of them, if you have HE, throw it there.

Don't die.

We've killed them.

Someone is shooting!

Near me!

Behind the rock! Behind the rock!

One's behind the rock, the other one is to the left.

He's approaching the left rock!

Nice! One left.

Why are you screaming?

One should watch our backs.

Contact at 55.

We're being shot at.

They're not coming I guess.

Yeah.

Enemy left the hut.

From behind.

There are two of them, squad.

There's a bike around you.

You gotta drive into the middle of the cirlce somehow.

No wheels.

Spread out, don't die.

Don't die

Spread out wider!

Pushing!

Enemy's driving away on a bike!

Nice.

Vehicles coming from behind!

Coming towards us! Get back!

Get back now!

Hey!

They're healing up under the cover of UAZ.

I'm getting shot at.

Don't peek out too much, they're shooting well.

You're lined up, the three of you!

Watch out, we're getting shot from behind!

Contact at a cafe! Don't peek.

The other's coming from the left.

Crossing the road.

One more there.

Spotted enemy on the second floor of the care, he's very low I think.

Hit him!

Underneath you, yes.

Don't forget to check our backs, Pro100 might flank us.

I headshot an enemy on the first floor.

Nice.

Who got killed?

Nice. One more enemy at the cafe!

Heading towards a one-storey building!

No, he left, but there might be more inside.

Deployed the smoke.

There are two contacts behind the truck.

Running away!

Moving right.

Killed him.

Are they all dead? Or no?

Is it Maga?

Yes, yes.

Asix is Maga.

Move further in a bit, check around.

Good, turn right. Follow me.

Or actually, you play as 2, check everying around, make sure no one's coming towards us.

Maybe a bit more to the right?

Yes, okay.

Your first task is...

What? No, no. Don't.

Pro100 is there.

Three of them, be careful.

Don't go further, stay there.

Vanya and I are on it.

Get out of there and check around.

Smokes!

Are they coming from the left?

They're probably reviving their squadmates.

More smokes!

I'm throwing to the right side.

I'll try to reach the rock.

I got an angle on them.

Drainys, revive me.

Vanya, hold on, they're shooting us.

Ok.

ILame right after that.

Playing passively now.

ILame now.

I'm healing up, good job.

Yes, they are tagged down.

I'm coming towards Vanya.

They're underneath.

Guys, don't push, we'll tell you when to proceed from uphill.

They are down here.

Copy that.

Hold on.

From the other side of the road.

He's somewhere underneath us.

I only see a dead body.

Mellman's down!

Okay, good.

Watch out, from behind!

Nice.

Go right, here.

Vanya stay there.

What?

Okay, go, go, we need them.

Keep to the right.

They're driving through the field!

Don't rush.

Not really.

One more running behind the truck.

Got HE?

Okay, I'm on my way.

Vehicle at 265.

ILame, I'm coming, honey.

Can you fall back a bit?

They're returning fire, but missing all the shots.

We can move further in and occupy more area.

Great!

We can fall back a bit now.

ILame, do you have a HE?

There's enemy crawling somewhere at 215.

Contact behind the tree!

M19 on the right. Pro100 are done for.

They're on the right.

They're pushing me.

I'm healing up.

I'm retreating.

We're in the zone, we need to outplay them.

Heal, bro.

HE, nice.

Do you see a tree in front of you at NW?

To your right, Lamich.

There's a guy there.

He's coming out.

Killed one.

Carefully.

Got eyes at 325, falling back.

I'm here, everything's fine.

No, no, no.

Let them come.

Contact at 290.

You should've stayed there.

We don't need to smoke them, they have to run to us. Watch out.

Just make sure there are no smokes in the middle.

Contact left side.

Knocked two of them out.

1 HP!

Behind the tree! Nice!

A few words about the games.

The games were fine.

We managed to bounce back at the end after playing poorly in the first 3 games.

We did well in the last one, just like we were supposed to.

We've secured ourselves a decent lead, that's all that matters.

Authentic Empath Will Recognize Most (if not all) of These Strange Behaviors - Duration: 6:35.

Authentic Empath Will Recognize Most (if not all) of These Strange Behaviors

Empaths have completely different traits that other people.

They have some characteristics that may surprise you.

Here is the list of strange behaviors or the real empaths.

You will notice that if you are empath.

However, you can pick the same sign if you meet someone with the following criteria.

#1 - Sensitive intuition

Intuition is not all people have and believe.

Many people use logics as the base of their decision making and basically for life.

However, authentic empaths tend to believe and use their intuition in daily basis.

You know other's people feeling just using your intuition, and it gets stronger as you

play with it.

#2 - Absorbing someone's energy

Authentic empaths are different from normal people who feel empathy to a condition.

What makes it difference is that you feel stronger feeling.

Moreover, it is not limited to a feeling sadness or happiness.

What you feel is actually what you experience too.

Even though it is not your true feeling, it just feels like yours.

#3 - People are exhausting

You become more and more like introvert.

People around you drain your energy, and you feel exhausted easily.

It is not because you are afraid of people or it is because you cannot communicate with

them.

It is just because you are constantly bombarded with their emotion which is sometimes unpleasant.

#4 - Attracting broken people

As empaths, your main ability is actually to understand people.

Meanwhile, not all people can understand others.

That is why empaths have places for people who need emotional support.

#5 - Getting mad with the crowd

Crowded streets, parks, and other public places become the place you do not want to go.

They are too exhausting, and they definitely will make your day unpleasant.

This happens because you meet so many people.

Sometimes, they slowly walk to you and asking for suggestion while you do not know who they

are.

#6 - Your Living Location Is Important

Some empaths may feel the pain of the world, like a curse.

Others are just aware of the energy of the city or neighbourhood they live in.

Many empaths end up living in smaller areas where the population energy is less in their

face.

Living in a very lively area, like a young and hip area, or a crime area, or a highly

populated, dense area, can drain the empath.

As an empath, don't you just love a country walk in a lonely place to recharge those batteries?

#7 - You Are Highly Sensitive

This is a given.

You do not like to see any living thing in pain or suffering because you suffer right

along side them.

Some empaths might even feel physical symptoms coinciding what others are going through.

If violence on TV is extreme, you might just change the channel.

If there is an unpleasant scene, an argument or someone is being bullied, you might even

leave the room if you can't help them.

You don't want to see it or feel it.

#8 - You Can See Through Lies

You know they are lying.

You don't know how, but you know it immediately.

Can't they see you are an empath?

Who do they think they are fooling?

You put up with it and don't let on, because you can't always prove it.

But you know who to trust and who not to.

It's easy actually.

Those lies are just so juvenile.

#9 - You Are Given an Emotional Healing

Through your compassion and time spent understanding the woes of others, you are healing them.

Yes, this is one of your gifts.

This is why you attract all those people who want healing.

You can really help your loved ones through giving this gift of listening and truly understanding

and caring.

Not everyone does this for people.

Use this gift when it is warranted.

You will learn who to heal and who to leave.

Some people will take your healing and then go ahead and kick you in the teeth.

Discern who your real friends are before offering this amazing gift.

You have something real to offer the world, so understand its worth, because it is worth

a lot.

Don't downplay yourself if you are an empath.

People would kill to be your friend and get healing each time they talk to you.

But then you know this already.

So be careful who your real friends are and who just wants to take your gift.

#10 - You Often Ignore Your Own Problems

You are an expert in ignoring your own issues, which you need to talk about.

You are so busy healing others, you never get to talk out what you need to.

You carry the weight of their problems along with your own.

When is your healing time?

You know you are strong and great with problems, but are you suppressing all your own stuff,

in favour of helping everyone else?

You may dismiss this and not even realise.

But surely at some point or another, you may find yourself breaking down.

All those pent up emotions and problems have to come up for healing at some point.

Learn to take care of your own issues as they emerge.

Don't stuff them down inside so you can take care of others endlessly.

Take a day, heck a week, to sort out yourself as you go.

This way, you won't melt down, explode or break down at some point in the future.

#11 - You Like To Help People

If they feel someone needs help, the empath will immediately jump into it.

They might know that person, they might not.

The empath always tries to help people irrespective of the relationship they share.

#12 - You can sense the energy of the collective consciousness

The empath can sense the energy of the collective consciousness.

For example, they can feel the fatigue of Thursday even if they are not working themselves.

The empath can feel the joy of Christmas celebrations even if they are having a difficult time of

their own.

#13 - You Can't Tolerate Violence

An empath cannot stand violence even if it's shown in a television series or a movie.

They will close their eyes or leave.

If it's narrated in a book, they will cry.

Well, those are some of the strange behaviors an authentic empath will probably recognize,

although they may not realize why those things happen.

Trump's WORST Tweet Ever? Says Dead Soldiers Would LOVE His Presidency - Duration: 3:25.

Donald Trump decided to spend memorial day like he spends almost every other day.

Making it all about himself.

In a Tweet, sent out early Monday morning.

That was I guess mean to honor, fallen soldiers on memorial day, which is what the entire

day is for.

Donald Trump said the following, "Happy memorial day.

Those who died for our great country would be very happy, and proud at how well our country

is doing today.

Best economy in decades.

Lowest unemployment numbers for blacks, and Hispanics ever, and women in 18 years.

Rebuilding our military, and so much more."

Nice.

Again, this was supposed to be a day of reverence.

A day where we remember those who've fallen.

Who gave their lives, in service of the United States military.

For this country.

And Donald Trump, in one sentence.

Managed to immediately pivot from honoring fallen soldiers, to talking about how awesome

this country is today.

And man, if those dead soldiers were still alive they would love, what was happening

right now in Donald Trump's America.

Let's think about that for a minute.

Since he says they would love what's happening right now.

Let's figure out whether or not they would.

Again, these are people who died in service of this country.

They gave the ultimate sacrifice.

For the United States.

Would they be happy, with the fact that we have a president who his family, and other

members of his administration were meeting with foreign officials, and diplomats during

the campaign to undermine US democracy, and possibly illegally receive aide from foreign

countries in order to win this election?

I mean, do you think that's what they'd be happy about?

Would they be happy about the constant police brutality that we see in this country?

Every day.

Would they be happy with the fact that the US government has lost 1500 migrant children?

Would they be happy about the mass deportations?

Or the hatred, and division that we see every single day in this country?

That's not what they [inaudible 00:02:08] and died for, and they damn sure didn't fight

and die, for a selfish, callous president.

To go out there and make memorial day, all about him.

Now to their credit, many on the right actually did speak out against the president's Tweet.

Including, Ben Shapiro.

A member of the so called intellectual dark web.

Who Tweeted out, "This is not how you do it."

Other groups, veterans groups.

Were very unhappy with Donald Trump's Tweet.

Essentially, everybody.

Both sides.

Left, and right.

Were offended by what Donald Trump did, on memorial day.

And they should be.

But it shouldn't just be that Tweet either.

He also throughout the day Tweeted about the alleged witch hunt.

This morning, he said he was going to let the witch hunt go, because he has to focus

on other things.

And then he immediately kept Tweeting about it.

Donald Trump's Twitter Feed is a nonstop festival of self congratulation, and offensive lies.

We should always, pay attention to what this idiot has to say.

Because he is poisoning this democracy.

That those soldiers who we honored on memorial day, fought and died for.
