After answering the question "why?", we now move on to the question "where?", which is: Where is the software? Where is the data? Where is the source code?

A very important question in bitcoin, why? Because we said that centralized experiments, that is, experiments controlled by a single entity,

in order to be able to respond to a demand and to a search for a digital currency equivalent to gold in terms of privacy and rigidity of the monetary supply,

have all failed due to the fragility of a central entity that could easily be stopped and easily shut down

If we want to use a metaphor, the best metaphor is BitTorrent. When digital music began to spread,

there was one company in particular that responded to people's need to share music files without any kind of censorship or control, it was called Napster,

it was a company that worked very well, it had its own servers that ran a computer program that allowed users to share music files.

But Napster was very easy to stop because it had only one company that controlled the code, controlled the servers and controlled the file sharing indexes,

it was very easy to fine, to shut down and those servers were very easy to turn off

BitTorrent, on the other hand, is an evolution of these sharing systems, it is a so-called completely peer-to-peer evolution, but what does "peer-to-peer" mean?

It means that in these new systems, for example BitTorrent file sharing, there is no longer a single company that controls the servers that run a program from a single location,

and there is no longer any single point that can be turned off or shut down, stopping the entire system.

The difference is basically this: if I shut down Napster's servers, Napster no longer works and people can no longer use it to share music files,

if instead I want to shut down BitTorrent I have to go to the homes of every single user who uses BitTorrent and I have to go and stop them all individually,

which as has been shown is often too expensive to implement, making it very difficult to stop decentralized peer-to-peer systems.

In short, when we talk about decentralization what we mean is the absence of a central point of attack through which the entire system can be shut down.

We no longer have a server, we have many so-called nodes that are absolutely equal to each other, some perhaps more powerful, some less powerful, some more connected, some less connected,

some with more or less information, but the key point is that none of these is the single point of failure, the single point of fragility of the entire system.

This technology is called decentralization or peer-to-peer, it's not really a new technology, it wasn't born with bitcoin, it has nothing to do with the term blockchain.

Many today use the term blockchain to indicate the redundancy of information, the distribution of a financial database.

In reality, these types of activities are linked to the very origin of the Internet, the Internet itself had a largely decentralized structure at the beginning, with data replicated in newsgroups for example.

Another typical example that precedes bitcoin by at least 7 years, thus preceding the concept of blockchain, is precisely the example of files distributed on peer-to-peer systems.

From Kazaa, eDonkey and eMule, up to BitTorrent, which has become the standard, and which bitcoin actually recalls if we think about the name. Bitcoin is the attempt to do with money and value,

what BitTorrent has done with digital content sharing. Just as we can now share movies or music in a way that is totally impossible to sto on a platform like BitTorrent,

the original idea of bitcoin was to be able to give us the same opportunity in the field of value exchange, to be able to exchange value without anyone being able to stop this exchange.

When we answer the question "where?": Where is the computer program? Where are the machines that run this program, Who is in control of these machines?

In reality it is also important to check where the source code is, which introduces another very important concept in bitcoin, which is the concept of open source.

When, for example, we download Napster, a program provided to us by a centralized company,

we can choose to trust this company because we can sue them if something unpleasant happens since this company has a reputation to defend and therefore has reputational,

legal and social incentives to maintain certain standards.

If we download a computer system from Microsoft, we expect Microsoft to have certain standards, even if they do not exactly meet our expectations.

However, in the case of a distributed system such as BitTorrent, there is no longer, and must not exist by design, a single company that we can sue.

There is no person responsible for what happens in the software, thus we can't trust a name like BitTorrent, and we must potentially also be able to actually verify what that computer program does.

So it becomes important for a decentralized system like BitTorrent and as also Bitcoin, to be also open source, that is, to allow everyone, not only to store individually and to transmit individually the software itself,

the computer program itself, or the data contained in the software: songs in the case of BitTorrent or financial ledgers if we talk about bitcoin, but it is also important that everyone is able to store,

share and verify independently the rules of the game, the instructions, the computer source of that program.

Each program, when it has to run on a machine, on a computer, is compiled, that is, from a series of instructions that can be read by a human programmer, a series of instructions are created that the machine can instead interpret and execute.

In open source code, development takes place by publicly sharing with everyone the source of the information, the source of the program, the source of the code that will be compiled,

this means that when we talk about bitcoin, we don't have to trust someone, for example a bitcoin company that obviously does not exist, we don't have to trust a name, a brand,

symbol, we can and have to, theoretically, verify that the code, the software, does exactly what it claims to do.

So when we say that bitcoin works in a certain way, in relation to the inflation rate of this digital gold, or in relation to the protection of our privacy, we do not actually say things we have to trust, but we say things that we can individually verify.

There are some conspiracy theories that say that bitcoin actually does this, does that or that bitcoin mining is actually a backdoor of the American NSA to do some complicated calculations,

these theories are easily disproved by looking at the code, because all bitcoin users can have a copy of the code.

Obviously this creates many differences also in the way in which it is developed, those who work in corporate and commercial IT companies have difficulty understanding

how the development and innovation of a system such as bitcoin, where there is no central body of decision, works.

There is a team, but this team is basically composed of people that change every year and people that nobody knows.

Some of them don't even have a name, a declared legal identity, they only have a pseudonym, so they use systems such as Git,

systems in which everyone can make their own contribution to the code and share it with everyone else,

and it is in the end the majority of users who decide which software they want to run and which software they don't want to run

So bitcoin is a truly decentralized software, there is no single company that can be shut down, there is no central server that can be turned off,

there is not even a single compiled program that must be certified by someone.

Everyone can independently verify and even improve, repair and evolve the source code.

Yamaha AN200 demo: closer look at the virtual analog synth and drum sequencer - Duration: 12:11.

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to another video this YouTube channel. And in one of

my last videos I announced that I was going to have a closer look at the

Yamaha AN200 one of these days - and today is that day. :-)

The heart of this groovebox from the early 2000s is the Yamaha PLG150 Card,

and this is a small hardware extension card which provides your groovebox with

five virtual analog voices, and this one can be edited by the knobs on this

device or by software on your PC. And let's have a look at that.

But let's begin with the user interface of the AN200. We've got a 16 button keyboard down here,

and we've got the controls for filter, effects, and filter and amp envelope, LFO and

oscillator parameters over here, including the balance of the two

oscillators, frequency modulation, synchronization, and the noise level.

Sound is created by two oscillators which then can be routed through a variety of filters

and can then be passed through a variety of effects.

We also have frequency modulation and hard sync on this machine.

Of course, this machine has also two LFOs which can control amplitude and filter

cutoff frequency, and a lot of other things which can be set up in the PC editor,

which I'll show you later. Here I'm setting it up to control the filter

cutoff frequency. Okay, but to be fair - this is boring standard stuff you've

come to expect from using a virtual analog synth.

So let's reset this sound and have a look at the PC editor, because there's one

thing which makes this synth quite unique. Okay and this is a tiny tiny editor

which is mostly a carbon copy of the AN200's user interface. But we're

interested in this tiny tiny button over here, which is called "free eg" or envelope

generator. And what you can do here is draw graphs by hand, or with the tools on

the left hand side, and then use these graphs to modulate your sound - for

example the filter cutoff frequency, or the panning, the loudness of the

oscillators, and so on. With the menu on the bottom of the screen I'm telling the

synth that it should use these envelopes for each key press on the keyboard while

playing, but you can also set it up to cycle through these envelopes while

playing a pattern, or to cycle through it a certain amount of time, or repeat it.

On the top of the screen I can turn on the free hand envelope and assign it to a

function, for example the filter cutoff frequency.

Okay, let's draw another shape and assign it to the fine tuning of oscillator 2.

And here I'm using the triangle wave tool to draw a triangle wave and assign

it to the panning of the sound. And finally, I'm drawing a straight line

which will control the LFO speed.

The nice thing about these freehand envelopes is that you can still use the

knobs to control the sound, and it will just add to your (manual) changes. Okay, just add

some effects and I'm officially done with this part of the demonstration.

Well, and in addition to the virtual analog synth there is also a drum

computer in this. There are three tracks of drum samples which are pre-recorded

samples (you can't change them) and apart from the drum samples there are also

bass samples in here, so you can use the drum tracks for playing bass lines.

Let's have a look at that! Okay, so this is a 16 step sequencer with

three tracks for the drum computer and one track for the synth part. And we can

program the drums by pressing the 16 keys according to the 16 steps in a

pattern. Okay, after creating the beat here, I can now press "shift" and the "1-8"

button, and when doing this the bottom row of encoders will refer to the eight

steps of half a pattern. So when you turn the encoders you can select the sample

that each step will play. And I repeat this procedure for the second track.

You can set the function of the encoders by pressing shift on the step selector

repeatedly, so we can now adjust the velocity of each step in the pattern. I'm

using the third track of drum sequencer for the bass sounds. And there are three

different bass sounds on this machine and you can select them by choosing the

notes in the lower octaves. Okay, I'll finish this by adding a delay effect to

the bass and the drums. I've created a piano sound or electric piano sound

previously, so I will improvise with that just a little bit and I'll change

the chord progression with the transpose function live. Let's listen to this!

Don't Fumble the Ball on a New Patient Call! - Duration: 5:52.

Would you agree that the most important phone call that comes into your office is that of

a new patient wishing to schedule?

I'm going to show you how to make sure you don't fumble the ball…

Hi there, Kathy Mills Chang here.

You know, with 35 years in the chiropractic profession, we could imagine that I have probably

scheduled a new patient or two in my career.

I think that there is actually an art to scheduling that new patient, and an art to handling that

new patient phone call.

So, I want to share with you in the next few minutes some of what I think are the most

important things to include when you are working with a new patient phone call.

First and foremost, remember that this is a really important phone call and whatever

you have to do to try to make yourself available or to give yourself the time that you are

going to need to handle this, please do it because it is that important.

In fact, it is so important that if you really are a single person office, you've got five

people in line, the phone is ringing over here and the doctor needs you, nothing wrong

with collecting their information and asking if you could call them back in a moment when

you could devote 100% of your attention to some with a very simple phrase like, "Mrs.

Jones, delighted that you called.

Your call is so important to me and I'm here by myself right now.

Are you going to be at a phone number I could return a call in five minutes to be able to

give you my full and undivided attention?

Could I call you right back?"

Most of the time, people are going to be very happy with that.

So, let's talk about the two kind of areas that top priority and very important items

that I think are very valid for you to understand to do this.

So, let's talk top priority first.

I'm waving a magic wand over this new patient phone call to make it really easy for you,

by the way.

Acknowledge the name and the referral source as soon as they call in.

"So, Mrs. Jones, it's delightful to visit with you today and I'm so happy that you

called.

May I ask who referred you to our office?"

Now, you notice that that language is kind of special language?

I don't say, "How did you hear about us?" because we want the patient to assume that

people refer here, and when they say, "You know, Mike Blake referred, he's one of your

patients," I want to say, "Oh, Mike Blake.

You know what, he's one of my favorite people.

If I had a room full of patients like Mike Blake, I would be delighted.

I'm so happy that he sent you here."

Second thing is, find out the reason for the visit.

"What has caused you to call today?"

Everybody has a reason they picked up the phone.

We're not asking you to do a new patient intake on the phone, but it's important

to know whether that result is an accident, how much time are going to need to be spending

here?

What are the circumstances that you need to be aware of and be prepared for?

Get their demographics, of course, and if you've got in their address and phone number,

go ahead and have that available when they arrive at the office so they are not repeating

themselves.

Set the appointment, always the most important thing.

Make the appointment, confirm that they know how to get to your office, and if possible,

direct them to paperwork that you will either have on your website or perhaps with an online

fillable form through your ChiroTouch, or something like that.

These are the no-brainers, and the relationship that you're going to establish with this

patient along the way on this phone call should be one of helping them to understand that

they have come to the right place.

For example, when the patient says that the reason for their concern is the headaches

that they just haven't been able to do anything about, how wonderful to be able to say, "Oh,

Mrs. Jones, I'm sure that Mike might have explained, we take care of so many people

who have had headaches and we have gotten great results with headaches here in the office.

I'm so excited for you to meet Dr. Smith."

That reaffirms that they are in the right place.

Now, these are some extra important things that I think are really important on that

new patient phone call.

Use a form, use a template.

If you're a member at KMC University and our library, we've got a wonderful template

form that walks you right through, makes it easy to not forget any questions, and uniform,

everyone does it the same way because everyone should be able to take this phone call.

Every person who could potentially answer the phone needs to handle it the same way.

I've heard this for more than I can tell you number of years, it is okay to talk money

on the first call.

The patient already has it on their mind.

I like to use the question like this: "Did you have some type of insurance that you would

like our assistance with filing for you?"

not "Hey, do you want to lay your insurance card at my feet and make me do all this work?"

but "Our assistance in filing for you."

It allows you to determine insurance or not right away, and then if it is insurance, asking

them to get their card to give you some information because "This will save you some time when

you are in the office, Mrs. Jones.

Let me see what I can find out for you before you get to the office."

If you are using ChiroHealth USA, which I hope you are, and the patient does not have

insurance, you could certainly indicate using those scripts and that we've got a great

plan here in the office to assist you given that you are uninsured, and last but not least,

give them some expectations: "Mrs. Jones, on the average, a new patient is in the office

about an hour.

I need you to be here at 9:15 for your 9:30 appointment," and when you do that, we're

not going to have any surprises.

This is probably the most important phone call that you will ever, ever taking your

office, especially if you spend money on marketing.

Don't fumble the ball, these are great suggestions.

That was my mentality. I was living my life to please other people, aka men,

because I hadn't figured out that I liked girls yet.

I mean, I kinda knew, but I also didn't know.

Like, I was kind of in the middle at that point.

I wasn't sure if I was allowed to date girls, I wasn't really sure how much I liked girls.

Uh, yeah. There's that. And, it was just not a great time

But at least I can write a song about it, ya know?

I'm writing more and more songs that are quite vulnerable, and they are little pieces of my soul.

And I'm proud of myself, because after 'Mariam', all of these were just really easy.

Because Mariam was a very personal song about my experience with sexual assault,

and I contemplated for months whether or not I should even put it on this channel.

And eventually, I did, and people loved it.

And, I'm proud of myself.

I also have another song, I wrote it in a day, again.

Boys Won't Like It, I wrote in day. Yesterday, after I covered Valentine, I wrote another song in a day.

And, I don't know what's going on, but okay. It's called 'Silence', and I really love the lyrics that I put in.

So, I'm gonna upload it later, this is Boys Won't Like It.

 Emre Can seems to have flown under the radar since his move to Juventus in the summer

 Despite having already made 19 appearances for the Old Lady, there has been very few updates on his performances back in England

 Liverpool fans will always be particularly interested in his progress after he left the club on a free transfer and there was no shortage of supporters disappointed to see him leave

   But in spite of Juventus making plenty of headlines with their brilliant start in Serie A and all the hype surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo, Kopites have had very information to go off

 However, that looks to have changed after Juventus scored a dramatic victory over Lazio on Sunday evening, despite making a terrible start in the Italian capital

Lazio 1-2 Juventus  Finding themselves 1-0 down going into the closing moments, Joao Cancelo scored a game-changing equaliser before Ronaldo completed the turnaround from the penalty spot

 Yet it could have been so much worse for the champions and Emre Can played a massive role in Juventus' early struggles

 First and foremost, the 25-year-old actually gave Lazio the lead by deflecting a corner past Wojciech Szcesny and into the back of his own net

  Emre Can's nightmare performance  Scoring an own-goal doesn't necessarily mean you've had a bad game, but that 59th minute gaffe wasn't the only thing that went wrong for Can

 By the time the full whistle sounded, the German had produced no interceptions, just a single tackle, only 34 touches and spent the game in Lucas Leiva's pocket

 Let's not forget the fact he produced none of the following either: key passes, shots, clearances and victorious aerial duels

Talk about a nightmare.  As a result, Can became a huge talking point on Twitter and you can check out some of the most brutal tweets down below:   Simply put, Can had the game from hell

 And after months of receiving very little attention for his performances with Juventus, the midfielder won't be pleased to see his Twitter mentions go through the roof this week

 If it's any consolation, though, Max Allegri accepted some of the responsibility for his display and he acknowledged that playing him as a defensive midfielder was a mistake

 Per Football Italia, he remarked after the game: "It's my responsibility, as I tried to play with Emre Can in front of the defence and that was a mistake

   "He doesn't have the right timing yet, so I put him in a very difficult position

 I put Bentancur there instead and it went better."  Nevertheless, even Can himself will admit that getting the three points is the most important thing and he owes a lot to Ronaldo keeping his nerve from 12 yards
