Youtube daily report w Jan 5 2019

In the Game of Thrones books, Tyrion Lannister is a fan of Lomas Longstrider – an adventurer

who travelled [round] the world.

Lomas wrote books about the wonders he saw – and named nine wonders made by man . They

include the Wall in the north, the Titan of Braavos , the bells of Norvos, the Bridge

of Volantis, the roads of Valyria, the Palace of Sarnath and the walls of Qarth.

That's seven wonders, so there should be two more – and fans have speculated on what

they could be.

So what are the wonders of the world of Game of Thrones?

The Wall is huge wall of ice that divides the kingdoms of Westeros from the wildlings

in the north.

Author George Martin says this was inspired by Hadrian's Wall, which divided Roman Britain

from the Scots in the north – in fact George pretty much copied the map.

But Hadrian's Wall was only seventy miles long – Martin's wall is three hundred

miles long , and up to seven hundred feet tall , which is half an Empire State , or

two Big Bens , or over a hundred Hodors tall . According to legend, the Wall was built

thousands of years ago by humans and giants and the children of the forest , to keep out

the white walkers . But some fans believe that the Wall was built by the walkers, maybe

part of an agreement with the humans.

So the Wall is ancient and magic and mysterious – Melisandre says it's "one of the hinges

of the world" . She says "If the Wall falls", there'll be a "night that never

ends" . And in Season 7 of the show, the Wall falls.

In the books, the Wall still stands, but there is this magic horn with the power to "break"

the Wall – go watch that video . The next wonder is the Titan of Braavos.

The Titan is a "fortress" "in the shape of a warrior", who stands across the entrance

to Braavos . He's carved of stone, with bronze armor, and long hair made of green

ropes . The Titan's eyes blaze with fires to light the way for incoming ships – and

to intimidate invaders.

Inside the Titan are rooms with arrow-slits – defenders can drop stones, and burning

pitch.

It's said that if Braavos is attacked, the Titan will come to life, wade out to sea,

and smash his enemies – but for hundreds of years, no invader has been brave enough

to attack . The Titan makes a loud roaring sound every sunrise and sunset , and people

keep track of time by its roar . Each year, Braavos has a festival where everyone wears

masks, and at midnight, the Titan roars and everyone takes off their masks together – the

Titan is a symbol of pride for the people of Braavos.

The Titan might be inspired by the Colossus of Rhodes, a statue who guarded the Greek

island thousands of years ago . Next are the bells of Norvos.

Norvos is an eastern city known for its bears and axes . It's ruled by the bearded priests,

a sect so mysterious that even the name of their god is secret . But their religion runs

the city – with these three bells.

Their ringing tells the Norvosi when to wake, when to sleep, to work rest and pray, and

even when to have sex.

The bells are named Noom, Narrah, and Nyel, each with its own distinct voice . Areo Hotah

is from Norvos, and his memories of the bells remind him of home . The bells of Norvos sounding

the time to pray might be inspired by Islamic and Christian calls to prayer .

The next wonder is the roads of Valyria.

Valyria was an empire of the ancient dragonlords.

They ruled a huge chunk of the world , and bound it together with sorcery and technology.

They used dragonflame to melt and fuse stone, shaping it into structures stronger than steel

. And with this dragon-stone, they built a network of long, straight roads, from Valyria

to Volantis to Meereen.

This helped transport trade and armies – extending the dragonlords' reach.

Four hundred years ago, Valyria was destroyed in an apocalyptic Doom.

The dragonlords died, and their cities collapsed.

But their roads remain – unmarred and unchanged, four centuries later . It's like how some

roads of ancient Rome remain today.

Next is the Long Bridge of Volantis.

Volantis was founded by the Valyrians as a military outpost on the river Rhoyne . It

grew into a town on the east bank – while on the west bank, a "shadow city" grew,

attracting criminals and vice . It was difficult to cross between these two halves of Volantis,

so the city was united with the Long Bridge.

It took forty years and millions of honors, but they constructed the biggest bridge in

the world – said to be able to hold a thousand elephants . There are buildings on the bridge

– shops, temples, taverns and brothels.

They're stacked three or four stories tall, leaning inwards, so crossing the bridge feels

like going through a tunnel . It's said you "can buy most anything on the Long Bridge"

– from gloves to monkeys to slaves . The Long Bridge in the show is based on a real

Roman bridge in Spain.

In the grasslands of Essos, there was once a kingdom called Sarnor, whose "gleaming

cities were strewn across the grasslands like jewels across … green velvet" . The "greatest

of these cities was Sarnath", "where the High King dwelt" in a fabled "Palace With

a Thousand Rooms" . We don't know anything about this Palace, but eventually Sarnath

was destroyed by the Dothraki – the Palace was burned , and Sarnath renamed the "City

of Worms".

Hundreds of years later, in Book 1, Daenerys passes its ruins on her way through the Dothraki

Sea . In Book 2, Daenerys visits Qarth.

It's a "city of splendors" , with colourful buildings, fountains and towers, and archways

decorated with gems . But the wonder of Qarth is its triple walls – the three layers of

walls that encircle the city.

The outer wall is red sandstone, decorated with carvings of animals – snakes, elephants,

wolves and zorses.

The middle walls are grey granite, carved with scenes of war – clashing swords, heroes

at battle, pyres of the dead.

And the inner wall is black marble, carved with scenes of sex that make Dany blush . These

triple walls protected Qarth from the Sarnori and Dothraki – leaving Qarth the last surviving

city of the Qaathi people . So these are the seven known wonders – but

Lomas Longstrider listed nine.

Fans have speculated on what his other two could be.

The Hightower in Oldtown is "the tallest structure in the Seven Kingdoms" – even

taller than the Wall . It's a lighthouse to guide ships into port, but it's also

a castle, home to House Hightower.

The Hightower is mysterious cause it's built on top of an ancient fortress of strange black

stone so old that no one knows who built it . The stone seems fused like dragonstone , but

the style of the building doesn't seem Valyrian . So some maesters say it was built by the

mazemakers of Lorath , or by the Lovecraftian Deep Ones . Or maybe it was the Great Empire

of the Dawn.

Whatever its strange origins, the Hightower is impressive, and could be one of Lomas'

wonders.

The Hightower's inspired by the Lighthouse of Alexandria – but George made it twice

as tall . Another possible wonder is the Great Pyramid

of Ghis.

Ghis was an ancient slave city.

And their Great Pyramid was "colossal" – thirty-three levels high, with red marble

halls inside.

Five thousand years ago, Valyria conquered Ghis, and burned their city, leaving the Pyramid

in ruins.

But descendants of Ghis founded the cities of Slaver's Bay – and the Great Pyramid

of Meereen was built as an "echo" of the Pyramid of Ghis.

So five thousand years after the fall of Ghis, Daenerys still struggles to erase its legacy

of slavery.

Lomas Longstrider did visit the ruined Pyramid in Ghis , so maybe it's one of his wonders.

Another possibility is the cities of Yi Ti.

Yi Ti is a great empire inspired by China . Lomas visited Yi Ti, and was "awestruck

by its marvels" . He said its cities are far larger and more magnificent than any in

Westeros – that "Even their ruins" put Westerosi cities "to shame" . The current

emperor of Yi Ti lives in a palace that's even bigger than all of King's Landing – so

that might be one of Lomas's wonders.

Finally, beyond Yi Ti, are the Five Forts.

These mysterious, ancient fortresses are described as "godlike" and "demonic".

Each Fort "is large enough to house ten thousand men", and "their massive walls

stand almost a thousand feet high" – all built of fused black dragonstone.

We don't know if Lomas made it this far east.

But if he saw the Forts, he must have thought them wonderous – or "monstrous".

So these are the wonders of the world of Game of Thrones.

Author George Martin basically nicked them from the real world – took Hadrian's Wall

and Rhodes' Colossus and Alexandria's Lighthouse and just made'm bigger and bit

magic.

So this shows not only of the wonders of Game of Thrones – but it's a reminder of the

wonders of our own world.

Wonders of the world of Game of Thrones - Duration: 10:40.

Mistakes Everyone Makes When Cooking Salmon - Duration: 4:13.

When you take innocent ingredients and mess around with them to make a meal, it can be

easy to screw it up.

And this is especially true for salmon.

Here are a few common mistakes people make when they cook this delicate, and delicious,

fish.

Any meal that features salmon has to start with actually sourcing your salmon.

"What are you doing?"

"Only selling the finest farm-raised salmon in the county, that's all."

"Yeah, they're all free range.

No nets, no cages.

They can go wherever they want."

"Plus we have smoked salmon."

But, fresh or frozen, checking out the appearance is a good way to assess fish quality.

Different varieties of salmon will have variations in color and flavor, but in general, brighter

colors are better than pale ones.

As Epicurious notes: avoid any fish that looks dried out, or has a brown color instead of

uniform reds and pinks.

"Craig.

Can I use y'alls microwave right quick"

When you're in a rush to eat, it can be tempting to lean on the microwave to unfreeze your

food.

But this doesn't work at all for salmon.

Since microwaves pretty much never thaw things evenly, and, considering fish is more sensitive

to heat than many other foods, this uneven heating will result in rubbery, dry fillets

that even your cat's not gonna eat.

"No thanks I'm full"

As a general rule, avoid thawing fish using any heat at all.

Opt instead for thawing overnight in the fridge, or in a sealed bag under cold running water.

"Can I change my answer"

Removing fish bones is a tedious task.

But no matter how well you prepare that expensive fillet, all will be forgotten when your guests

are choking on bones.

Even if you buy a piece of salmon from the fishmonger, and the larger bones have already

been removed, there still could be tiny pin bones remaining.

If you run a knife against the grain you'll feel the ends of the bones poking out of the

flesh.

With a clean pair of needle nose pliers and a bit of patience, you can carefully pull

out all the remaining bones one by one.

Definitely season your salmon, but only just before you start to cook it.

Since salt can be used for preserving meat and fish, sprinkling it on your fish too early

might actually start to cure your meal before you cook it.

And seasoning the cooking water is especially important if you're poaching your fish.

The seasoning should not only be rubbed on the salmon, but added to the water as well,

that way it doesn't "wash off" during the cooking process.

Try poaching salmon with white wine, shallots, and dill, then finish with freshly ground

pepper and a squeeze of lemon.

"You are beautiful, Susie Salmon"

If salmon were an opera singer, it would be the prima donna.

Talented and deserving of praise, but also super sensitive and egotistical.

"Your public needs you."

"We need you too."

"Wouldn't you rather have your precious little ingenue"

Treat a piece of salmon right, by giving it its space and a little "me time," and it will

totally melt in your mouth.

But smother it with way too much attention, and it falls apart under the pressure.

"I'm melting, melting"

In the case of salmon, this means that once you've put it on the heat, leave it alone!

Salmon cooks best when it's placed over a fairly high heat for just long enough to turn

the flesh opaque.

If you cover the fish while it cooks, you may not need to turn it at all, but if it's

cooking on the grill, turn it over just once, about halfway through.

Any dish that requires perfect timing can tempt nervous cooks to check in a little too

many times, but if you don't leave it alone, you'll worry your salmon all the way into

the trash.

It turns out, overcooking your salmon may be the biggest mistake of them all.

No one likes tough, rubbery fish, but the line between sushi and fish leather is not

very wide.

Some cooking methods, like poaching or wrapping in foil, are safer than others, but no matter

how you apply the heat, there's only one result if you do it for too long.

"There's just no way the salmon can, can survive in those sorts of environments"

The ideal time to remove salmon from the heat is just before it's done, so you can allow

it to sit for a few minutes.

The residual heat will finish the cooking process, and if you're still unsure you can

use a meat thermometer, aiming for about 145 degrees.

The more often you cook, and as you get to know your own preferences, you might decide

to lower that final temperature just a little bit.

But, be warned, if you typically make too many of these mistakes, your family and friends

might not let you make dinner, ever again.

9 People Who Predicted The Future - Duration: 11:05.

From Nostradamus' famous prophecies to a woman who foretold the assassination of a

US president, here are 9 people who predicted historic events:

Number 9 Nostradamus Born Michel de Nostradame and commonly Latinized

as Nostradamus, this 16th century physician and reputed oracle is best known for 'The

Prophecies', a collection of 942 poetic quatrains.

These four-line poems have been often credited with predicting historic events.

Since his work was first published in 1555, Nostradamus' alleged predictions have amassed

many followers and often benefited from the support of popular media.

However, his work is rejected as genuine foretelling in most academic circles, which also doesn't

support the notion that Nostradamus had any supernatural abilities.

Aside from mistranslations, which were sometimes done on purpose, the quatrains are described

as vague enough to apply to virtually any scenario.

There's an argument that Nostradamus didn't make predictions- statements about events

that are known before they happen, but post-dictions- statements that ring true only after the events

have occurred.

Interpretation is usually where the line's drawn between skeptics and believers.

For example, there are lines in his work which can be accurately translated as 'Earth-shaking

flames from the world's center roar/And make the world around a New City quiver'.

For some people that may sound like Nostradamus predicted 9/11 while to others it might be

open enough for any interpretation.

Other lines may seem to be harder to deny such as 'The blood of the just will be lacking

in London/Burnt up in the fire of '66 –which seems to predict the Great Fire of London

which took place in 1666.

Other notable predictions attributed to him include world wars, the atomic bomb, the French

Revolution as well as the rise of both Napoleon and Hitler.

Regardless of where you stand when it comes to Nostradamus' work, a conversation on

people who predicted the future undoubtedly warrants his inclusion.

Number 8 Scrubs Maybe it was merely a coincidence or maybe

one of the writers of the TV series 'Scrubs' had a prophetic moment.

In a 2006 episode, the janitor, a character played by Neil Flynn, makes a rather eerie

comment to the show's main protagonist.

He claims that, in his opinion, the US armed forces should be looking for Osama Bin Laden

in Pakistan.

At the time, nobody thought much of the comment regarded as part of the show's comedic writing

and the character's typical dry delivery.

Then, in 2011, Osama was found to be hiding out at a compound in Pakistan where he was

killed by members of SEAL Team Six.

This has sparked several conspiracy theories, most of which don't go too far in terms

of credibility.

Number 7 Tana Hoy American psychic Tana Hoy reportedly predicted

a deadly terrorist attack on a building in Oklahoma City 90 minutes before it took place.

Hoy made his prediction in 1995, during a live radio program in Fayetteville, NC.

About an hour and a half later, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols unleashed what would be

the worst terrorist attack on US soil, prior to 9/11, on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.

At least 168 people were killed and hundreds were injured.

However, this wasn't the first time that Hoy had made this prediction.

He'd allegedly told the FBI about the attack months before it took place.

Number 6 Simpsons It's well known that, during the show's

30-year-long airtime, writers for 'The Simpsons' have made several predictions.

Among the most significant was the presidency of Donald Trump and, according to writer Dan

Greaney, the joke was meant to reflect a 'vision of America going insane'.

Other notable predictions that came true include Disney's bid to acquire Fox, Greece's

debt default, several technological developments and the NSA spying scandal.

Perhaps one of the most fascinating aspects about the show's predictions involves the

discovery of the Higgs boson.

The 'God Particle' was confirmed by scientists at the Large Hadron Collider in 2012, but

Homer Simpson might have hinted at its mass in 1998.

In an episode entitled 'The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace' Homer decides to become an inventor.

He's pictured standing in front of a blackboard with an equation on it.

It's been reported that, once the equation is worked out, the result is the mass of a

Higgs boson only slightly larger than it's actually been discovered to be.

That's still quite remarkable when considering that Homer made the prediction 14 years before

the Hadron Collider discovery.

Number 5 Ferdinand Foch Marshal Ferdinand Jean Marie Foch served as

the Supreme Allied Commander during World War I.

After the war was over, Foch accepted the German request for an armistice.

However, he believed that the terms of the Treaty of Versailles were too lenient on Germany

and that the country should have been further weakened of the resources to rise again.

One June 28, 1919, as the treaty was being signed, Foch declared 'This is not a peace.

It is an armistice for twenty years.'

In saying so, the military commander essentially predicted World War II, which by general consensus

began with Germany's invasion of Poland.

It took place on September 1, 1939, precisely twenty years and 65 days after Foch uttered

those infamous words.

Number 4 Jules Verne Jules Verne has been credited with making

a number of predictions, particularly regarding scientific achievements.

In 1865 Verne published a novel called 'From the Earth to the Moon'.

He described a manned vehicle launched by the US in a projectile, aiming to land on

the Moon, over a hundred years before Apollo 11.

The shape and size of the projectile closely resembled that of the Apollo spacecraft.

Just as the Apollo 11 mission, the launch takes place from Florida and the crew consists

of three men who splash down in the Pacific Ocean on the return to Earth.

Without knowing how a trip to outer space would affect gravity, the author also predicted

weightlessness.

However, he wasn't correct in his interpretation of where it would take place as he described

it at the midpoint of the journey, when the gravity between the Earth and the Moon is

balanced.

Nevertheless, when considering the fact that his novel was written more than a century

prior to the moon landing, Verne's foresight is still quite remarkable.

Number 3 William Lendrum Mitchell Often regarded as father of the US Air Force,

General William Lendrum Mitchell produced a rather visionary intelligence report in

1925.

When asked to describe how a future war with Japan would unfold, Mitchell wrote that the

Japanese would attack Pearl Harbor on Sunday at 7:30 AM and Clark Field, in the Philippines,

at 10:40 AM.

While he was a bit off on the dates, the rest unfolded with remarkable accuracy 16 years

after Mitchell's report.

Sunday, December 5, 1941, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor at 7:55 AM and Clark Field at

12:35 PM.

Number 2 Morgan Robertson Morgan Robertson novella 'The Wreck of the

Titan' isn't a case of art mirroring life but rather a case of art predicting it, with

incredible accuracy.

Written in 1898, before the RMS Titanic was even conceptualized.

The novella describes a fictional ocean liner named Titan, the largest of its kind, which

is described as unsinkable.

The Titan does eventually sink after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic and there

aren't enough lifeboats for everyone onboard.

So far the similarities between the novella and the real-life events surrounding the RMS

Titanic are uncanny, but it doesn't end here.

Both the Titan and the Titanic had similar proportions and struck the iceberg on an April

night while travelling at similar speeds, 25 and 22 knots.

Both struck the iceberg on the starboard side while they were 400 nautical miles from Newfoundland.

In the aftermath of the sinking of the Titanic, the only explanation that some people could

find for the similarities was that Robertson was clairvoyant.

The author denied the claim and attributed the similarities to his extensive knowledge

of maritime trends and shipbuilding.

Be that as it may, some still aren't convinced that Robertson lacked supernatural abilities

while others have created several conspiracy theories about the sinking of the Titanic,

based on his novella.

Number 1 Jeane Dixon Jeane Dixon was a famous self-proclaimed psychic

and astrologer who reportedly predicted the election and death of US President John F.

Kennedy.

In a 1956 issue of Parade Magazine, Dixon wrote that the 1960 election would be won

by a Democrat, who would die or be assassinated in office.

She became known to the general public through the 1965 book 'A Gift of Prophecy: The Phenomenal

Jeane Dixon' which was written by Ruth Montgomery and sold over three million copies.

Dixon's foretelling of the Kennedy assassination soon made other people in the White House

follow her predictions.

They included President Richard Nixon, who set up a committee on counterterrorism after

Dixon claimed attacks would take place on US soil.

She was also one of the astrologers that gave advice to Nancy Reagan.

However, the psychic wasn't always right.

She'd predicted the Soviets would be the first to put a man on the moon, circumstances

for the beginning of WW III and other things that didn't happen.

A mathematician coined the term 'The Jeane Dixon Effect' in reference to the fact that

people often tend to focus on the predictions that came true instead of those that didn't.

Dixon was a devout Roman Catholic and claimed that her prophetic abilities came from God.

When she died, in 1997, her last words were 'I knew this would happen'.

gray whales slow mole is underwater until it frowns.

Pretty pick tubs.

They've also developed a taste for shark.

Great white sharks have been popping up off the coast of South Africa with their shivers

removed.

A team of scientists concluded that Orcas were responsible.

Skill her whales figured out that if you turn a shark upside down it becomes nearly roam

a toast and can't light back.

And knowing that it was high highly nutrient rich the orcas would eat the shark shiver,

hopefully they had some fava beans and a nice chianti.

What to Do, Eat & Wear in London | England Travel Video | part 1 - Duration: 8:05.

Well hello there! Welcome to London. Thank you for choosing Julie Tours.

My name is Julie and I'll be your guide for today.

So I'll be taking you to the eastside of the city ... but before we go have some breakfast first.

So I went for the charcoal chia pudding and I felt like mr. Bean.

Unfortunately there weren't any flowers on my table and a woman sitting next to me didn't bring her handbag,

So I couldn't hide it in there like he did.

I ate it all ... and now I feel like I had enough chia seeds for the rest of my life.

Okay anyway now that we had a breakfast.

Some had a better one than others.

Now it's time to go.

So we are going to our first stop and that is the Millennium Bridge.

So, it's a pedestrian bridge across the River Thames and you can see the shard, the tower bridge,

the Tate Modern and you can see St Paul's Catherdral.

Now before we move on it's time to take a little break to talk about the outfit details.

Okay moving on with the tour and it's time for some history.

So now we're going to see the St Paul's catedral.

This is actually the modern rebuild version of the 'Old St Paul's Cathedral'

that like many other buildings got destroyed by the Great Fire of 1666.

Now speaking of that fire, this is the monument to the Great Fire of London

Little fact it's 61 meters high and it's a distance from the place where the fire originally started.

Now time for food!

So welcome to the biggest and oldest food market of London, Borough Market.

They mainly sell specialty foods.

Everything smells amazing!

Well except for the cheese. That might not be your favorite smell.

Luckily there is something for everyone here.

So also for those who have food allergies or are vegan, like the 'Free From Bakehouse'.

Okay so I hope you enjoyed your appetizer.

Now it's time for the main course at Bill's restaurant right around the corner.

So they have plant based and gluten-free options.

And then we are having some broccoli, sweet potato fries and some bread with hummus on the side.

Alright, and now 'le moment suprème', drumroll please!

The St Dunstan in the East church. This is by far my favorite place in London.

So I'll be quiet for a while so you can enjoy and explore this beautiful place.

So this church has originally been built around 1100 but got damaged by the great fire in 1666.

So they decided to rebuild the church but then unfortunately

in 1941, the church got damaged again by World War II

and then only the tower and these walls remained.

In 1967 they decided not to rebuild this place and turn it into a public garden.

which opened in 1971.

Okay that's enough history for one day. It's shopping time!

So I'll be going to my two favorite shops in London,

which are Urban Outfitters because that's the place where I always find the best gifts.

And I'll be going to the Foyles bookstore which is probably the biggest bookstore I've ever been.

Yeah shopping makes me hungry.

So we're having dinner at the wild food cafe in Neal's Yard.

So it's a plant-based, gluten-free, raw restaurant that doesn't use refined sugars.

So it's healthy for everyone.

So the restaurant is right here, on the first floor so I hope you like olives

So ... I hope you like olives because that's what we're starting with.

Then we're having some wild mushrooms on squash.

It's delicious. It's my favorite restaurant.

And what would life be without dessert?

Okay so this is the most delicious salted caramel and chocolate slice

along with this sour power spritz mocktail.

So now for those who want to soak up some Christmas spirit,

definitely checkout the Seven Dials, Carnaby Street and the beautiful angels at Oxford Street.

Okay so that's enough steps for today. It's time for some rest because tomorrow

we have another busy day.

Okay guys, I hope you enjoyed this video.

I'll be uploading the second part next week.

Please subscribe if you haven't already.

Give it a thumbs up if you like Julie tours.

And I'll see you again next time.

Bye guys.

CHEAPEST Mansions And Castles For Sale! - Duration: 10:52.

From historic mansions to European castles for $1!!!

Here are 10 amazingly cheap homes!!

10.

Homes in Gary, Indiana ($1)

With people moving to larger cities and away from rural communities, homes and neighborhoods

get run down and in urgent need of repair.

Local authorities have to come up with creative solutions on how to deal with this, but Gary,

Indiana, came up with a radical idea- they would make homes available to buy for only

one dollar!

Of course, there were some stipulations to this cheap and attractive price, though.

In total there were 11 houses on offer as a part of the City of Gary's Dollar Home

Program, and they were only available to certain people.

To apply, you had to pay a 25 dollar application fee, and you had to have a minimum income

of $35,250 a year.

Furthermore, successful applicants had to commit to living in the home for at least

5 years before receiving full ownership, and to renovate the homes to set standards.

That's commitment right there, but for some people this would be totally worth it!!

This included fixing code violations on the exterior of the structure within 180 days,

and improving the interior to habitable standards within 365 days.

The rules give an idea of how run down these homes were, and how much work and investment

was needed but, after 5 years, applicants had the opportunity to get a home for themselves

at a fraction of the cost of a normal house.

If you can make repairs and are willing to move, keep an eye out for these deals because

they are pretty awesome!!

9.

Italian Village Home ($54/month)

If you've always wanted to move to Europe amongst the glorious mountains of Italy, then

you missed out on a great offer that was made by the village of Bormida in 2017.

After population numbers started falling, the mayor wanted to encourage new people to

come the area.

You don't want your town to die!!

So he started a scheme that made houses very affordable.

They would give anyone who moved there, under the program, a lump sum payment of 2,170 dollars,

and discounted accommodation for 50 euros, which is about 54 dollars, per month.

Larger properties were also available for 120 euros, or 130 dollars, per month, and

these rates were for as long as the residents stayed.

Because who doesn't want to live in Italia for awhile??

Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of interest in the offer, and it was eventually withdrawn

by the village because of the influx of applicants.

It's not clear how many people have moved there because of this program, but I bet they've

never looked back!

Even if you missed out on this deal, there is more to come!!

Don't worry, you can still get your Italian Adventure!!

8.

Homes in Stoke, UK (£1)

Homes in the UK sell for an average of 180,000 pounds, which is the equivalent to about 230,000

dollars, and are notoriously difficult to purchase for large amounts of people in the

country.

That's why, when special offers are made available, there's huge interest and they

go in no time at all.

In 2015, the town of Stoke, which is about 160 miles away from London, did just that-

and offered 33 homes for sale at just 1 pound, or 1 dollar and 30 cents.

This, like other schemes, was designed to encourage new people to the area and to renovate

the homes, so things didn't get more and more run down.

There were a few conditions attached- the main being that it required taking out a 30,000

pounds low-interest loan, and the commitment to live there for at least 5 years before

selling.

Purchasers also had to be in full-time employment, and be first time buyers- something that both

helps people onto the property ladder, and prevents property developers from buying and

then 'flipping' them.

It may not be the dream location for most, but with such low prices it was a program

that made homeownership a possibility for people who couldn't dream of it before, and

the program was such a success that it's been replicated around the country a number of

times since.

So keep an eye out!!!

7.

Czech Castle ($13,000)

If a house is too low-key for you, and you'd rather snap up a castle for a bargain, then

there was an offer in 2016 that would have been perfect- in the Czech Republic.

It's a country known for its opulent architecture, and this opportunity was amazing.

The Libejovice chateau, a stunning mustard-colored Renaissance palace, was put on the market

for just 13,000 dollars.

It's only a 2-hour drive from the country's capital, Prague, and has the potential to

be something fantastic.

I say potential- because there was a catch with this property- it was in serious need

of repair.

Some estimates suggested the renovation costs alone could be as much as 10 times the purchase

price, but even for 150,000 dollars, this has got to be one of the most affordable castles

in the world!

6.

Japanese Home ($0)

According to a report in 2013, there were more than 8 million unoccupied homes across

Japan.

This is a surprise for a country that's so densely populated, but people tend to live

in the cities- leaving some rural areas feeling desolate and abandoned.

Still, in Tokyo itself it was estimated that 1 in 10 homes were empty, which is far more

than the rates seen in New York or London.

The main reason is thought to be changes in demographics- the younger generations aren't

having families as early as they used to and don't seem to be in a rush to purchase larger

homes from the elderly.

To combat this, authorities have been taking control of homes, and offering some of them

to buyers for free, and others for very, very cheap.

Of course, there's some work needed on each of the properties, but if you want a home

in the Land of the Rising Sun, you really can't go wrong at these prices!

5.

An Italian Castle (0$)

See, you can still have your Italian Villa!!

Throughout history, large numbers of castles, farmhouses, and monasteries were built across

Italy- but now there's not such an interest in keeping them maintained.

It's a shame because they are integral to the character of the landscape, so the authorities

came up with a plan to rescue them.

They made 103 ancient buildings available to new owners for close to nothing- on the

condition that they turned them into local tourist destinations.

The intent was to transform the facilities and create routes for pilgrims, hikers, tourists,

and cyclists, and breathe some life into the run-down areas.

So they may be free, or only cost a dollar, but you do have to put money into them.

Depending on how successful this program is, there are another 200 properties earmarked

for inclusion- so if the idea of running a tourist site in Italy sounds appealing to

you, what are you waiting for?

4.

New Jersey Mansion ($10)

As you know, it's not easy, or necessarily affordable, to buy a mansion in the US, but

in 2017 a New Jersey mansion went on sale for….

10 dollars!

Yes you heard that right!

Why just $10??

Of course, there are a few catches that went along with it.

The six-bedroom mansion, built in 1906, covers 4,000 square feet and was designed by Dudley

S Van Antwerp, who was responsible for more than 500 buildings in Montclair.

It was the former home of Aubrey Lewis, the football player who went on to become one

of the FBI's first black agents, so it is steeped in history.

The catch, though, is that buyers weren't able to keep the house where it was.

The land has been approved for the construction of 8 new properties so, as part of the sale,

the new owner has to move the entire structure to a nearby plot within a quarter of a mile.

The seller offered 10,000 dollars towards the cost of moving the building, but with

estimated costs of up to 60,000 dollars to move it, along with the need to purchase a

plot of land to put it on, the costs could soon rack up.

But still!!

It would be a much cheaper way of getting your own mansion, and you can put it where

you want it!

3.

Sardinia ($1)

Sardinia is a beautiful island off the coast of Italy.

The town of Ollolai is in the mountain region of the island, with views out across the fields,

and has plenty of uninhabited houses available!

In the past 50 years, the number of people in the town has more than halved and, with

an aging population, there are very few births each year.

The locals, therefore, want to encourage new families to move to the area to ensure the

town keeps growing (or at least maintained), and to do so they're offering homes for as

little as one euro, which is the equivalent to just over a dollar.

For this, you'll get your very own Mediterranean stone-built villa which is ripe for renovation.

As a part of the purchase, owners are required to commit about 25,000 dollars for upgrades

within the next three years, but that's nothing for the chance to live in such a quaint place.

Local delicacies that you could be enjoying include premium sheep cheese, autumnal cakes,

and roasted piglets- and the fresh air, combined with the slow-paced nature of an isolated

village like this, make it the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of modern

life.

With people applying to the program from as far away as Russia and Australia, this could

soon become one of the most cosmopolitan regions of the Mediterranean!

And who doesn't want to live on an island in the Meditteranean?

I mean, you know that property is just going to go up!

2.

Mansion in Columbia ($170,000)

If you've got a bit more cash, but want a great deal, then this mansion might interest

you….

It was on sale for 170,000 dollars!

See, amazing mansions aren't only for the extremely wealthy!!

Here you can see this beautiful home that was for sale on Zillow.

Covering 4,780 square feet, with 7 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms, there is room for everyone!!

The brick home is in the center of the Columbia Borough Historic District in Pennsylvania,

and has distant views of the Susquehanna River.

It's been in the same family for 70 years, and still has as much as 75 percent of the

original furnishings such as flooring, fireplaces, mantles, and a continuous three-story staircase.

It's in walking distance to the local stores and stands out with its blue exterior like

no other in the street.

It was a bargain when it was sold in early 2018, and proves that large homes are very

affordable if you look in the right place.

1.

Mansion in Indiana ($190,000)

Now on to Muncie, Indiana!

This mansion was on sale for 190,000 dollars!

While that might sound like a lot at this point, it's an absolute bargain when you

see what it has to offer.

With 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms across 6,080 square feet, which includes more than an acre

of land, the property has enough room to park 20 cars outside- you know, for all those dinner

parties you are going to throw!

And plenty of space to entertain guests.

There's also what's described as a basement recreation area, an unfinished third floor,

and the focal point- four front columns that support the roof over a two-story porch.

The entire property is surrounded by a black aluminum fence, along with its original gate-

making it the ideal place for people who want to live in a historic house!

So keep your eyes open for your dream home!

It's out there, and maybe for a great price!!

Thanks for watching!

Remember to subscribe and see you next time!!

Have a great day, byeeeeeee
