Less than ten games into the season, doubt has already set in at several teams in LaLiga Santander.
That's the case for Malaga, who although they scraped their first point late on against Athletic Club last weekend,
have just one to their name from a possible 18. They, Eibar and Deportivo have conceded the most goals
so far this term.
Down in the relegation zone, Malaga visit the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan this weekend for an Andalusian derby,
reuniting Michel with the ground that was his home for 11 months.
The away coach and his side are attempting a change of dynamic,
and are using last weekend's fightback when a man down as inspiration.
"That draw is a demonstration of the commitment of my players to turning things around.
I know that a point doesn't seem to fix much, but it has made an impact in the hearts of those who know the
players are working hard. I'm very happy for them."
Against them will be a Sevilla side who have been in Champions League action in midweek,
and who conceded second place at the Wanda Metropolitano to Atletico Madrid last weekend.
It's a game in which neither coach will settle for anything less than all three points.
There's also all the added intrigue of a derby, which always makes Sevilla against Malaga a must-see match.
The outright LaLiga leaders face a new challenge with the visit of UD Las Palmas,
who are under new management and hoping to benefit from a change in the dugout.
So far this season, no opposition have managed to take points from a FC Barcelona side who are by far the most
prolific in front of goal, and the most parsimonious in defence.
Las Palmas will try to find chinks in their armour this weekend.
"We always play better against the big sides, such as FC Barcelona. The other day against Athletic Club
we had a good game at home. This is a very tricky game, because we know what Barça are like, they are the leaders
and we know the players they have. When it's your turn to play against them, it's very difficult.
I think that we have to go out there with clear ideas, keeping faithful to our own philosophy. If you hang back,
Barça have the quality to score many goals against you."
Barça are opponents who have enjoyed plenty of success against Las Palmas, in particular at home.
The Pio Pio have only two wins over them in the Catalan capital, and haven't beaten them in 12 league meetings.
Fortuately for Pako Ayestaran, the new man in charge, he will have both Pedro Bigas and Loic Remy back available.
The bad news is the absence of Vitolo, Dani Castellano and former Barça players Sergi Samper
and Allen Halilovic.
Ernesto Valverde wants to continue extending his immaculate LaLiga run against a Las Palmas side who are
capable of springing a surprise.
The leaders put themselves to the test at the Camp Nou.
