Yo!
This video is sponsored by Brilliant.
Hey guys, before you watch this video, be sure to go down below and not smash that like
button, why would you like a video before you watch the video?
And why would YouTubers ask you to do that?
You're pressing of the like button is a valuable thing that you should only give to videos
that deserve it.
If, after or mid-way through this video, you laugh or learn something, feel free to press
the like button, a matter of fact, I encourage it.
But only do it if you gain value from this video, not just cuz some dude on the internet
tells you to like the video before it even starts.
That being said, if you enjoyed this bit, uhh it'd mean a lot if you pressed the like
button.
Hey guys, so I was just minding my own business the other day and Bo Burnham decides to drop
a trailer for his new movie, Eighth Grade.
>> ME IN CHAIR: *Breathes in* He has spoken.
>> KAYLA: So, the topic of today's video is being yourself.
Being yourself can be hard, and it's like, aren't I always being myself?
And yeah, for sure.
But being yourself is like, not changing yourself to impress someone else.
>> ALEX: It's weird, because Bo Burnham always seems to know exactly the struggles
I'm going through at exactly the right time.
Like, I remember the first time I listened to Art is Dead.
>> CLONE: Ok, great Alex, but you gotta do that line with more gusto.
>> ALEX: Wut?
>> CLONE: You know, you gotta be loud and engaging for the audience.
>> ALEX: Yeah, that's what I'm gonna talk about today...
>> CLONE: What I'm finna talk about today, gotta appeal to the youth demographic.
>> ALEX: Ok um, back, uhh, back to the video, I was in Yosemite, it was actually the same
time I made the Spider Caves video, and it was the middle of the night, I was going down
a YouTube rabbit hole, as one does in the middle of the night.
And I saw that video suggested to me via the recommended video section, but I never clicked
on it because, from the title, I thought it was about painting or something, because that's
what I thought all art was for some reason.
And I just remember just sitting in my bed, and clicking on the video, and freezing up,
because the video was so spot on to all of the things I were scared were wrong with me?
AAAHHH!
Bo Burnham has done it again with his new movie Eight Grade, coming out this July, and
early reviews say the movie focuses a lot on the difference between the main character's
online self and real life self, and that hit home because I've been thinking about that
a lot.
When I started this channel, my Technicality personality, heh that rhymes.
When I started this channel, my Technicality personality was exactly the same as my real-life
personality.
>> TINY ME: Hey guys, I'm here, let's get technical.
You don't need me to tell you I'm super psyched and super happy to be doing this video,
but why?
>> BIG ME: I was so young, and so small.
But over time, my real-life personality has evolved and taken a different path, this is
uh, this is a spider, I don't really know what this is.
But my Technicality personality has stayed fairly consistent, and for good reason. *laughs* This is just weird now.
I think my Technicality personality is way more entertaining and way more good for this
medium than my actual personality.
Like, imagine if I act in my videos exactly how I act in real life.
"hey guys, uhh, I'm here, and uhh let's get technical.
Today I wanna talk about uhh memes.
I'm really happy to see this Simpsons meme blowing up.
Uhh, it's a lot of that 2meirl4meirl action
It's not being oversaturated, which is good. And it's a big mood right there, so you know. It's all good.
>> TEACHER: Ok kids welcome to English class, hey Alex, what did you think of the reading?
This clip of a rock is more interesting because you don't know if the rocks gonna do something.
Likewise, imagine if my actual personality was just how I acted in my YouTube videos.
>> TEACHER: Ok kids welcome to English class, hey Alex, what did you think of the reading?
>> ALEX: Hey my English teacher, I'm here with a God of Small Things analysis, let's
get technical.
What really fascinated me was Arundhati Roy's use of childish language even while talking
about intense subjects.
She'll often push two words together creating a new compound word which is usually an adjective.
This can be seen when she writes the word "skyblue," which appears around 30 times
throughout the entire book.
We did actually read this book in English, and it's pretty good, but it ends in, like,
the worst possible way for every character.
Like everyone either dies, commits incest, is a bad person, or just ends up in a bad
situation, so.
Almost every YouTuber has to deal with the difference between their online self and their
real self.
The only YouTuber I can think of who's exactly how they're like in their videos in real
life, is Michael Stevens from Vsauce, like I've heard he's actually vsacey all the
time, and I'm so glad to hear that, because if not I would lose faith in humanity.
In the coming months and videos, I wanna really take time define my personality and see how
my online persona relates to my offline persona.
My online persona has stayed pretty consistent, and my offline persona seems to be all over
the place, which just feels weird, but is always constantly not my online persona.
>> CLONE: Ok this is just getting too sad and pathetic.
Just be your usual Technicality self.
>> ALEX: No, gah, that's that's the whole point I feel weird that there is such thing
a Technicality self and a non-technicality self, but at the same time my Technicality
self is way more entertaining and charismatic and better for YouTube, so what do I do to
reconcile these two things?
>> CLONE: Dude I don't know, I'm just a figment of your imagination constructed
to get more views.
I don't even exiiiiiiiissstttt (fade out).
>> ALEX: That's how we're gonna end that bit?
Ok well.
So here's the challenge: how do I make both my offline and online persona something I'm
happy with?
How do I stay true to myself in my real life, and have an entertaining persona online?
For my offline persona, Anna Akana has this system where she would basically chart out
Side note: Notice how I'm being wishy washy when it comes to saying "being yourself,"
because I'm less interesting in being yourself and more interesting in, well, finding who
myself is.
Side note: Notice how I'm being wishy washy when it comes to saying "being yourself,"
because I'm less interesting in being yourself and more interesting in, well, finding who
myself is.
Woah that's deep 10/10 deeps.
For my online persona, here's how I've approached it.
There are 3 channels on YouTube I literally can't watch more than 5 videos of, or my
mind will explode and not be able to function because their videos are so good.
Those 3 channels are Austin McConnell, who you should totally check out, and the 2 we're
gonna talk about today, Nathan Zed and Wendover Productions, because they represent 2 different
elements of videos that I'm really trying to work on.
On the one hand, we have Sam from Wendover whose content and ideas and meat of his videos
are so phenomenal, like, every Wendover Productions video I watch I think what?
How?
Why?
Questions?
>> CHAIR: You know what China does have interesting geography.
How do you even think of that?
Like, one day was Sam just sitting there like
>> CHAIR: You know what China does have interesting geography.
So amazing, and then other the other hand we have Nathan Zed whose voice and personality
and comedy is just impeccable.
He could literally talk about anything and make it engaging, to the point where I just
think, like how?
I really want to work on trying to get these two different sides of what I think is the
same the coin down really well.
I think I've been getting better at content, not as good as Sam, of course, but, you know,
getting better.
Like, the sources from the first couple videos I made were basically just links to Vsauce
and ASAP Science videos.
My early videos we're based a lot on stuff I saw, say, in an It's Okay to Be Smart
video, or Do Online Now Guys video.
Now, I'm really proud of stuff like the Illusion of Explanatory depth video, or the
Why do cable companies have monopolies?
video, because they're unique; you can't find them anywhere else on YouTube.
But, while my content has evolved, I feel like my personality still has some work to
go.
I think my jokes can be better, I think they can be more risky, and, well, as much as I
love puns and references and all that, and they're def not going away, they're relatively
easy and safe.
And my favourite type of art is art that does take risks.
Like, don't you just hate it when someone's all like...
"You know when you get your meal, *breath* and your waiter says enjoy your meal, *breath*
and you're all like, *breath* you too?
Get it? because...
That joke was funny once: when Brian Regan did it first in 1997, before I was even born!
I'm really young.
The art and comedy I really like and really appreciate isn't easy or safe, like Bo Burnham
or Watsky or BoJack Horseman.
And I've been working on that and y'all have been noticing, which is kinda what prompted
me to make this video, thank you so much, genuinely.
I wanna continue to work on it and make it better for you.
This segues me nicely into....
(eh eh?
See I can keep it going across videos)
This segues me nicely into my second fear with my voice on YouTube, which is it is MY
voice on YouTube.
Right, so this situation I'm in kinda reminds me of Logic.
Lemme preface this by saying I'm a big fan of Logic, I love his music, probably in my
top 5 favourite artists.
But while he makes really really good music, some, like Banthony Bantano, and other music
critics, have criticized him, admittedly rightly so, for sounding too much like his influences.
>> ANTHONY: I can't help but feel like his style is just a composite of his contemporaries.
The problem is he just doesn't really have a strong distinct sound that, when I hear it, I know I'm listening to a Logic song.
I don't think there's another artist out there who comes off as being as much a hip-hop artist as he is a hip-hop fan.
This is my biggest fear with my voice and my videos.
Obviously, I too wear my inspirations very proudly on my sleeve; you can easily see inspiration
taken from Vsauce and Jacksfilms and many other amazing amazing people.
Heck, when I pitched this very video to you guys, I described it as a Nathan-Zed-eqsue
video.
I mentioned how my content has evolved from being heavily inspired to being pretty unique,
but I feel like my voice hasn't really evolved in the same way and to the same extent.
How DO I define my own voice?
How do I define my own style?
Anthony even SAYS Logic sounds more like a hip hop fan than a hip hop artist, and that's
what I'm afraid I'm becoming; I'll always be a YouTube fan and not a YouTube artist.
To summarize this whole, I'm working on making my offline persona as best as it can be, and I want my online persona to reflect that more, but I also want it to stay entertaining and charismatic.
Woah it's magic
So yeah that's what's been on my mind.
Follow my on instagram to encourage my nacisism, follow me on Twitter, because I'm so close
to 1,000 followers let's get there yee!
Ayy, uhh, quick money update!
I should put on a suit.
Woah it's magic
Thanks to your support on Patreon and by using my sponsors, I've been able to buy a new
microphone to get audio that doesn't sound like it was recorded in the middle of a windstorm.
This is the Sennheiser MKH416, it's known as the gold standard for shotgun mics, and
it's actually the one Marques Brownlee actually uses.
I'm really happy with this purchase, I hope it steps up the audio game and makes my videos
even more enjoyable for you, and, like I said, I've got my sponsor, Brillaint.org to thank
for it.
Listen, we've talked about Brilliant before, in literally the last video at that, so you
already know Brilliant has amazing math and science courses that engage you in fascinating
problems and help you understand big concepts at a deeper level.
But what I want to talk about today is how Brilliant.org actually, like, helps Technicality.
They've signed up to not only sponsor the last video and this video, but a variety of
upcoming videos.
They've shown to me that they are dedicated to help Technicality grow and improve by sponsoring
my videos, which really means a lot to me.
On top of the fact they're a great source of inspiration for videos, their courses are
just fun to do in my free time.
So if you wanna support this amazing company that's helping me do bigger and better things,
go to brilliant.org/technicality and sign up for free, like, you have nothing to lose.
Plus, if you like it, the first 200 people that go to that link will get 20% off the
I like these videos, they're like public journal or diary entries that document what I'm thinking of and when, so I kinda like making them every once in a while.
I also wanna give a huge thank you to all of my patrons over at Patreon.com/Technicality,
especially AllStrawBerry and Scott Robinson who are pledging $99 and $100 respectively,
which is utterly amazing, I'm perpetually in disbelief, thank you so incredibly much,
that's crazy.
Also, did you like this video, or do you want me to stick to education?
I like these videos, they're like public journal or diary entries that document what I'm thinking of and when, so I kinda like making them every once in a while.
But if you like these sorta videos, maybe I'll sprinkle them in occasionally (so,
like once or twice a year), or maybe I'll even make them their own series.
Or maybe the name Q with A could take on another meaning: like instead of you asking me questions, I ask the questions on my mind about life, the universe, and everything. Woah, another 10/10 deeps, that's 20 total deeps.
Bye y'all

>> ANTHONY: I can't help but feel like his style is just a composite of his contemporaries.

I don't think there's another artist out there who comes off as being as much a hip-hop artist as he is a hip-hop fan.

Bye y'all

Cologne Dos & Dont's - 10 Things Men Should Know About Fragrance - Gentleman's Gazette - Duration: 6:12.
Welcome back to the Gentleman's Gazette and part three of our mini-series on colognes
and fragrances.
If you haven't already done so check out part 1 about the History of Cologne and part 2
about How to Choose the Right Cologne for You and How to Apply It.
First of all let's talk about the do's of wearing cologne.
One, do test the intensity of your cologne before wearing it in public.
You can do so at home because some colognes are very overpowering while others are very
light and you want something that is balanced.
Two, before you make a purchase do check with your spouse or your significant other and
see if they like it.
Even if you love the scent if your partner doesn't want to be around you it's not good
for your relationship and there's simply so many other scents out there and chances that
there's one that both of you will like is very high.
Do one or two sprays max for a regular intensity cologne.
Four, do wear cologne that works with other scents harmoniously.
Maybe your jacket has a certain smell.
Maybe your hair product has a certain sort of smell.
You don't want colliding scents in one ensemble because it may be off.
Five, do spray and moisturize before putting on cologne.
That being said I suggest you go with fragrance free lotion because it won't impact the scent
of the cologne.
Stay clear of unscented body lotion because despite its implication it actually has different
scents that's supposed to emulate not a smell at all and it can interfere with your cologne.
Six, do buy cologne from a reputable store because colognes can be easily faked today.
Buying them on eBay or Amazon may be a great way to get something that is faked.
And even though the top note may be the same or similar they can be watered down.
There can be more alcohol and while you think you saved a buck you actually ended up with
a lot of crap.
So always buy from a trusted source.
Now let's talk about the don'ts of wearing cologne.
One, don't rub in cologne on your skin but just let it settle naturally onto your skin.
Two, don't wear alone in the presence of people which have allergies or an aversion to cologne.
You might think people are really sensitive but there are truly some people who collapse
when they smell cologne.
For the same reason don't use colognes in hospitals or medical facilities.
If you want to maybe go with something very light definitely not with something that's
overpowering because it can have negative impacts on the people there.
Three, don't put on more cologne just because you can't smell it anymore.
Over time your nose and your sense of smell and gets desensitized for your cologne so
it's the best to ask someone else that you know such as your partner whether they can
still smell it, otherwise you're just overpowering the people around you.
Don't put cologne in open sores, your ears, your mouth or your private parts.
It's just not meant to be there.
Don't use aftershave as a body cologne.
It has a very specific purpose and alcohol or ethanol based aftershaves are not up to
date anymore so I'd go with something else.
With that being said, the after shaves usually don't last for a very long time and they're
not well suited as a body cologne.
Likewise don't spray cologne in the air and walk through it.
It's simply a waste of it so rather apply it directly on your skin.
Also don't apply cologne in public because it's just gaudy.
It's like clipping your fingernails in public.
Just do it at home.
Don't buy or use bargain colognes from the drugstore.
It's something that's reserved for teenage boys.
And no, the Axe or Gillette won't make women follow you around the block or fall from the
sky because they find you so attractive.
Also don't buy cologne for the great-looking bottle.
Most of the times designers put a lot of effort in the marketing as well as the bottle because
they want to associate things with positive things in your life so you like the scent
but ultimately always go for what's in the bottle and try to disregard the rest.
In the same vein don't fall for these box packages which are on sale because the body
lotions are usually not of a very high quality and your skin can react to it differently
because it lingers longer on it.
Honestly at the end of the day it's gonna be less expensive than buying the whole set.
Last but not least, don't save cologne for a special occasion because usually the essences
inside can only be stabilized for about three years.
After that they start to change.
The aromatics change and it's just not pleasant anymore.
I know the 100ml bottle may be tempting but maybe you'll just use 50ml over three years
so go for that one.
If you enjoyed this video make sure to watch part 1 about the History of Cologne and part
2 about How to Choose One and How To Apply It.

In today's video I'm wearing L'Dandy from D'Orsay which I don't just like because of
the bottle or the name.
So for my jacket I'm using a very light tone of brown which is oatmeal with a herringbone
pattern and three brown cuff buttons which indicate that it's a little more sporty.
I'm combining it with a shirt that has white, yellow, blue and brown stripes and as such
it's rather bold.
Because of that, I combined it with a mottled dark knit tie with tones of blue and brown
which is made out of silk and from Fort Belvedere just like the pocket square which is made
out of linen with hand-stitched x stitches and they're hand rolled.
It's very hard to do that but they pick up the same colors of blue and yellow to create
a harmonious look.
My pants are navy with a faint windowpane over check and my shoes have the same brown
color as the buttons on my jacket.
Because of that everything is tied well together.
The socks I'm wearing are navy and yellow shadow stripe socks from Fort Belvedere and
for selection of all the Fort Belvedere accessories mentioned here please head over to our shop.

Every MCU Movie Ranked Worst To Best - Duration: 14:49.
Since 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has cemented its place as a pop culture juggernaut,
but while some of those movies are great, a few of them are just a good excuse to get
some more popcorn during your 40-hour movie marathon.
Here's every entry in the MCU, from the superheroes to skip, down to the best must-see
movies of the bunch.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Juggling a massive cast of superheroes is a pretty difficult task, and no movie proves
that more than 2015's Age of Ultron.
The consistency and depth the characters displayed in solo movies get thrown out.
Captain America's a prude, Thor's a meathead, there's a Hulk/Black Widow romance that
comes out of nowhere, and while Iron Man gets away better than the others, every lesson
Tony Stark seemed to learn in Iron Man 3 seems completely forgotten here.
Oh, and also he's responsible for creating a murder robot, so that's going to be a problem.
"Is that the best you can do?"
Age of Ultron boasts a great final battle and some really fun action, but ultimately,
that's not enough to save it from being a mess.
Thor: The Dark World
In theory, 2013's The Dark World has everything you could want.
Chris Hemsworth is as charming as ever, and it's based on one of the greatest comic
book runs of all time.
It's got a Star Wars-style attack on Asgard by spaceships flown by dark elves!
The rock monsters from Thor's very first comics appearance! Thor and Loki teaming up for revenge
against the villain that killed their mom, climaxing in a fistfight in which Thor and
Malekith are literally punching each other so hard that they land in other dimensions!
Unfortunately, none of it is as good as its sounds, and for all it's got going for it,
it ends up being pretty boring.
The Incredible Hulk
To say that it was exciting to see Nick Fury show up at the end of Iron Man and hint at
the idea of a full-on shared universe of superhero movies is a huge understatement.
When The Incredible Hulk hit theaters a month later, though, it didn't seem quite as exciting.
In all honesty, it's not bad.
It just happens to be the most forgettable movie in the entire franchise, which is a
real shame when you consider that it does so much right.
For one thing, if you're going to make a movie about a nerdy scientist with anger issues
so powerful they could level a whole town, getting the guy who starred in Fight Club
to play Bruce Banner is a pretty solid move.
For another, the filmmakers realized audiences didn't need a full-blown origin story to get
up to speed.
Tying the Hulk's origin into Captain America and the Super Soldier program was the first
stumbling step towards building the full-on shared universe.
In the end, though, it just didn't quite land.
Doctor Strange
When 2016's Doctor Strange was announced, the big question for comics fans was how the
mind-bending psychedelic sorcerer of the mystical Marvel Universe was going to fit into the
MCU.
As comic fans know, things get pretty weird.
The good news is that from a visual standpoint, the filmmakers absolutely did it.
The splitting realities in the movie's fight scenes were beautifully weird, and the ghostly
ethereal plane with life-and-death battles for the fate of the Earth could rage unseen
was great for showing how different Stephen Strange's world was.
The bad news is that from a storytelling standpoint… well, they basically just did Iron Man with
magic.
The beats of Dr. Strange's journey from self-absorbed surgeon to Sorcerer Supreme felt familiar
to the point of distraction.
It's not until the climax and Strange's time-bending bargain with Dormammu that Doctor Strange
really comes into its own, but the road that gets us there is one we've been down before.
Iron Man 2
Sam Rockwell literally dancing across the stage to present his army of Iron Man drones
is endlessly delightful, but there's a lot in this movie that doesn't involve Justin
Hammer busting a move, too, and that's where it fails to measure up to its predecessor.
Hammer and Whiplash both serve as evil versions of Tony Stark, bringing unnecessary complications
to the story.
Even worse, the scene when Stark goes down into his basement with a particle accelerator
to somehow build a new element might be the goofiest thing in the entire MCU, and those
movies have a talking raccoon from space.
At the same time, Iron Man 2 was a confident stride towards the full MCU, introducing the
Black Widow and War Machine, and even teasing Thor's arrival in the next film.
There's a lot there to like, and even if it's outweighed by the bad stuff, we'll always
have Justin Hammer's dance moves.
The Avengers
That The Avengers works at all is pretty impressive, but that it works as well as it did?
That's basically a miracle.
Even less than a decade later, it's difficult to remember that this was the first time that
anything like this had been attempted: a superhero team movie that combined heroes who had been
established in their own films, each with their own tone and style.
In bringing them together, Joss Whedon had to balance the fantasy of Thor, the snarky
sci-fi of Iron Man, and the sincere superheroics of Captain America, combining them all—along
with Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow—with stakes that were high enough to bring everyone
together for a single adventure.
And this movie does it.
Those big stakes mostly result from an army of faceless aliens, and it's still pretty
weird that the Avengers needed Phil Coulson to die before they decided to go be superheroes.
Plus, there may not be a single line in the entire MCU that lands quite as badly as Captain
America smugly talking about Thor:
"There's only one God, ma'am, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that."
That said, Loki getting Hulk-Smashed like a Looney Tunes character was the most fun
superhero movies had ever been.
Iron Man 3
Here's the thing about Iron Man 3: It rules.
It draws from the comics, blending the story of "Extremis" with a film that's focused
on developing Tony Stark as a character.
It's a movie that's full of Shane Black's directorial trademarks, but his style works
perfectly for using the superheroic action as a backdrop for Tony dealing with the consequences
of his own actions in a changing world.
And that's the best thing about it.
At this point, we were seven films deep in a cinematic universe dealing with grand-scale
threats.
This is a movie that explores how the smartest guy in the room deals with living in a world
that's becoming something that he can't predict.
It's a movie about a superhero with an anxiety disorder, and not only does that feel refreshing
and interesting, it's a permanent consequence that leads directly to Age of Ultron and Civil
War.
Plus, that twist with the Mandarin is brilliant.
Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2
The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie proved that the MCU could get weird and cosmic and
still be incredibly entertaining.
The second one proved that wasn't a fluke.
If anything, it went even bigger.
The first movie brought us stuff like the Nova Corps and Ronan the Accuser, but Vol.
2 has about a half hour of superheroes battling Ego the Living Planet.
It's got waves of space drones swarming into starship battles, a warp drive sequence that
knows exactly how silly it is, and it features the best Stan Lee cameo in cinema history
and the single best use of a Zune in anything, ever.
Ant-Man
It's tempting to say Ant-Man shouldn't have worked as well as it did, and that a second-tier
superhero with the ability to get really tiny and talk to ants was a big surprise when he
started to rake in billions.
Really, though, it's not that unexpected.
After all, Marvel's first big movie success came from a pretty obscure D-Lister from the
pages of Tomb of Dracula.
Audiences have always been interested in stories that twist the expected superhero plot points
around into something new, and that's where Ant-Man really delivers.
As easy as it would've been to portray Scott Lang as a microscopic version of Iron Man,
his story felt different.
"Hey, are we the good guys?
We're the good guys?"
"Yeah, we're the good guys."
"feels kinda weird, you know."
The movie has its missteps, like going out of its way to justify not having the Wasp
show up until the sequel, but on the other hand, this is a movie in which the hero loses
a fight with a toy train, and Chekhov's Gun is actually Chekhov's 60-Ton Tank.
Thor
Iron Man 2 might've been the first big step towards fleshing out the Marvel Universe,
but Thor was the first time we actually got to see its scope in action.
With Thor we got Asgard in all its glory, complete with a rainbow laser bridge, epic
battles against frost giants, and—perhaps most importantly—those big ol' Jack Kirby
hats that Norse gods apparently love to wear.
The trick, of course, is that the movie ended up dragging all that stuff to Earth, leading
to the climactic battle against the Destroyer, a viking god robot with a face made of death
lasers.
That definitely served to emphasize Thor's humanity and make Chris Hemsworth a little
easier for us mere mortals to relate to, and gave the MCU one of its most prominent villains
in Loki.
Mix human stakes with high-fantasy adventure, and you're in for a pretty good time.
Iron Man
It's safe to say Iron Man surprised us all.
It's not that we expected it to be bad.
Tony Stark's origin story is a pretty good fit for a Hollywood action movie, it had a
great cast, and while director Jon Favreau might've been best known for Elf, that wasn't
really a bad thing.
But still, none of us expected it to be so good that it would become the foundation of
the entire MCU.
To say that it was an exceptionally powerful launch would be an understatement.
There are times when this feels less like a "superhero" movie and more like a popcorn
revenge flick where the hero just happens to have a flying suit of armor, but it did
its job so well that those shortcomings are easy to forgive.
Captain America: The First Avenger
The First Avenger does origin stories better than most, and a lot of that has to do with
Chris Evans.
In a franchise that's full of amazing casting choices, Evans pulls off the incredible feat
of embodying a square-jawed, relentlessly earnest product of the military-industrial
complex in a way that makes him impossible not to like.
For all the super-strength, that's a character whose real super-power is making you believe
in him, and that's exactly what this movie does.
"I can do this all day."
As good as it was on its own, it also serves as the proof-of-concept for the superhero
movie as a period piece, and gave the MCU a history that went further back than 2008
and Tony Stark's cave.
Guardians of the Galaxy
The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie manages to balance so much stuff going on that you
almost don't notice how complicated it is for all the fun you're having.
It's got a team of lovable misfits dealing with their own issues while fighting against
a massive threat, expansive interstellar empires, and a retro feel supported by a classic rock
soundtrack that doesn't feel like it's wallowing in the past.
All that, and still tells a story so fun that it made Rocket Raccoon a household name.
It breaks the formula in every way it can, to the point where it's a superhero team movie
that ends with a dance-off and the heroes literally saving the universe with the power
of friendship.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Everything about The Winter Soldier reinforces the idea that Captain America is exactly the
guy you want to have the power to save the world.
The notebook full of pop culture references that he needs to look up to understand the
world around him.
The friendship with Sam Wilson that starts with bonding over their wartime experience.
The loyalty to his friends that leads him to risk his own life to save Bucky.
He even gives his opponents one last chance to back out before he beats up an elevator
full of traitors.
All of these pieces add up to a whole that's incredible, even before you get to how much
of the movie is based around Steve Rogers just kicking the living hell out of bad guys.
That stuff's pretty fun, too.
Captain America: Civil War
Even though Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes are unquestionably the focus of Civil War,
there's a pretty convincing argument to be made that this movie should've been called
Avengers: Civil War instead.
It has everyone in it, and they aren't just cameos, either.
Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and War Machine all get huge, character-developing moments
in the middle of a superheroic Royal Rumble, while the Avengers are split by a villain
who wound up getting exactly what he wanted.
And if that wasn't enough, it's also the movie that introduced movie audiences to Black Panther
and Spider-Man.
The characters are never flattened out to fit, and the three-way fight at the end has
not only some of the best action in the MCU, but some of the most emotional moments, too.
Black Panther
After a his debut in Civil War, T'Challa's first solo movie came with some pretty high
expectations.
Not only did it live up to them, it blew right past them for one of the MCU's best movies.
Maybe it's because Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa is a character struggling with the weight
of expectations himself.
The Black Panther is more than up for the challenge, but the journey he takes to get
there is full of compelling complications, from the reveal that his father wasn't the
flawlessly honorable man that he thought, to a an enemy with some very justifiable anger
at the world around him.
It's a superhero struggle that goes far beyond just the punch-out battle in the climax.
Black Panther never shies away from its high-tech comic book roots, but tells a story that's
very much rooted in the real world, and does it beautifully.
Thor: Ragnarok
To say that Ragnarok lifts heavily from Walt Simonson's epic mid-'80s run on The Mighty
Thor is putting it mildly.
The only things in this movie that weren't directly inspired by Simonson are the pieces
it pulls directly from Marvel's more recent Planet Hulk storyline, right down to the Hulk's
gladiator gear.
The thing is, Taika Waititi's film chops up all those pieces and rearranges them into
something that's both different and genuinely hilarious.
"That's exactly what Doug used to say.
See you later New Doug!"
That part isn't surprising, considering that before Ragnarok, Waititi was probably best
known for co-directing the vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, but it takes advantage
of Chris Hemsworth's infuriatingly good comedic timing.
"Ow."
"Just had to be sure."
Spider-Man: Homecoming
As good as it is on its own, the fact that Peter Parker swings into action after 15 other
movies means we don't have to waste time with an origin story.
Thematically, Homecoming builds on everything that came before in a truly incredible way,
with direct callbacks to Tony Stark's character arc that show how different Peter is from
the hero he's trying to impress.
The idea of a superhero universe erupting around otherwise normal people is the conflict
that drives everything about the movie.
Take that away and you've still got great characters, great action, and one of the best
scenes in the franchise.
With it, though, you've got pure magic.

The Caltech Effect on Batteries - Duration: 0:44.
The batteries that power our lives haven't evolved much in nearly 50 years.
Julia Greer and her team are changing that.
Working at the nanoscale, they give new properties to old-school materials…
making it possible to ditch the way we build batteries.
Instead of forcing electrons to jump from particle to particle...
Greer's team is assembling micro-beams to form a highly conductive 3D highway...
for power-carrying electrons.
The result is a greener, safer, lighter energy pack...
that charges a device in minutes and holds the juice twice as long.
And that's The Caltech Effect on Batteries.

US response to security threats in the Americas | IN 60 SECONDS - Duration: 1:28.
President Trump is finally putting a team in place that could begin to
address the grave and growing security threats right here in our hemisphere: the
corrupt narco-state in Venezuela; the explosion of coca in Colombia; and the
attack on democratic institutions in Central America by narco kingpins and
gangs. They're even backing the election of an anti-American candidate in Mexico –
Imagine another failed state like Venezuela right on our doorstep. As
Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo can form a diplomatic team of experienced and
loyal political appointees who can lead and manage career diplomats to confront
threats, rather than kick the can down the road. They should press for an urgent
transition in Venezuela, rallying the region to sanction the Maduro regime and
support democratic opposition, and they must help Colombia's next president
confront the persistent narco terrorist threat. And they should reassure Mexico
that the United States will be a reliable partner, growing together
economically and tending to common security threats. The new foreign policy
team must begin to take care of business right here in our neighborhood.
What do you think about President Trump's new foreign policy team and US leadership
here in the Americas? Let us know in your comments. And also let us know if there
are other topics that you'd like scholars to cover in 60 seconds, and be

Climate control for the aquarium - automatic temperature control with Aqua Medic T Controller Twin - Duration: 6:57.
Attention! This is followed by an infomercial with product placement and product help!
Moin, hello and welcome! I am the fat Dirk and you are watching a new episode
from the area of aquarium! We have a lot in things
Water climate done, so water temperature. We tested whether a self-
built aquarium cooler can cool the water better than no cooler. Has
he made it! We have tested: Save the aquarium cooler
Extreme conditions at 30 degrees room temperature the 30 degrees warm water
cool? Did he do it! Now the only question is: when
do we turn on? The problem is this: Many of
we have to work during the day. During the day but is unfortunately stupid
Time when it's hottest. Namely at noon, when the sun is high up
stands. So: who turns this thing on? How do you do that?
One option, of course, is to turn the device on in the morning.
But what happens when suddenly a thunderstorm comes up, clouds in front of the sun
pull, so it is not so warm, so the fan would not be needed
and he cools and cools and cools, because he does not even know that the water is already
Cool enough. Or the other side: We will not turn it on and it will
suddenly very hot and the fan does not cool and our fishies, the
Shrimp or other animals is not good at all! So: what to do? There is a
Device that I have been using for years and that's what I'm showing you now! That's the
T Controller Twin by Aqua Medic. This device measures the current
Water temperature. You can adjust how many degrees
Below the water temperature the heater should start and from how many degrees
Exceeding the water temperature cooling should begin.
I once unpacked it because I've been using it for a long time.
The device has a cable that is logically powered. There are two sockets,
which are controlled. Outlet number one is intended for cooling, outlet
Number two is for heating. For cooling, we have our indicator
Fan, do you already know from the video with the aquarium
Cooler and because you heating so bad
I could just put a lamp down, then ours
Heating simulated. So, just a short explanation: The attitude is relative
simple: There is a set button and a up and a down button. about
the set button, I set the desired temperature. So I hold
pressed, then the temperature flashes. I can now choose the desired temperature
to adjust. Let's say 25 degrees, press again
Set, now I can set the deviation, from which exceeding the
Cooling should begin. I can fix that at 1 degree, can
but with the plus and minus buttons change accordingly. 16 degrees maximum
is the highest range / change. It is only possible in full-degree increments, partial
Degree does not work. The question is, is that important? It was not for me. So, cooling
set. From 1 degree above the temperature, heating set. From 1 degree
Shortfalls. Put the same thing again. Using the up and down buttons
can I regulate the temperature, ie the difference? The whole with set
to confirm. Finished! So, now let's just plug it in.
For the heating, I now put the power supply for the lamp in the socket
Number two. I pull it down a bit. Do you look better then? And for the cooling
I put the power supply of our self-made cooler in the
Outlet number one. So, Kabelgetüddel, but that is halted in this demonstration
unfortunately not possible otherwise. So! Here we go! At 24.9 - 25 degrees we move
in the area where everything is good. We do not want to change anything here.
This is the thermocouple, which then comes into the aquarium. And that's what I'm heating now
just by picking up the thing
and you can see how the temperature is rising and now we have the 26 degrees
exceeded! This is once indicated by the frost symbol,
Snowflake icon displayed and you can see it: Our fan is spinning!
Volume is because he is now on the table! And now we cool that
whole again, just by the measuring sensor
stuff into the cool water and you can see: temperature is falling! Keep falling!
Now we are at 25! Now he has switched off! And now he switches the
Heater! So, that's our little friend who's taking care of it
our little creatures are doing well in the water. Take care that the heater
starts when the water gets too cool and that takes care that the fan
starts when the water gets too hot. Who did not see it exactly: I have
Unpack the device again. This is the double socket. At the double
Power outlet is the cord that leads to the outlet. This cable is about
a meter long. From the double socket goes the display or
the control unit. This cable is about 90 inches long and from the
Control unit is the temperature Sensor off and this cable is about two
Meters long. The temperature display, we have just seen, takes place in 0.1
Degree steps. The measuring range in which temperature is measured lies between
minus 40 and plus 99 degrees. The most exciting question certainly: how
resilient is the socket? The sockets can be loaded with 1200 watts.
Of course, at the same time, that is, it can either have 1200 watts of heating power
dranhängen or 1200 watts of cooling power, at the same time they never run! The rule-
Range, ie in the area in which the device controls the temperature, is located
between 16 and 40 degrees. Is not the measuring range. He is taller, but the
Control range. And the control accuracy, as we have just seen, amounts to
1 degree. That's it already! This is now
the series of climate, aquarium, climate history done! So we have
now the automatic climate control for the aquarium seen! We saw what we do with it
Can lower water temperature and we have seen that as cheap
DIY is ok and probably much more powerful than
comparable, comparable price devices from the trade.

Top 10 Things Gordon Ramsay HATES! (Part 2) - Duration: 12:34.
Gordon Ramsay is well-known for being a hater.
As you've seen in our previous video, there are plenty of things that Gordon hates.
Some are simple, others are quite specific.
Of course, there are more than 10 things that the chef hates.
The world is big and full of things, after all.
So we searched even more, to be able to show you another top 10 things that Gordon hates!
Thin Mints and Samoas Girl Scout Cookies
There are few American traditions as popular as Girl Scout Cookies.
Little girls have been selling these delicious snacks since 1917, keeping people away from
their diets ever since.
Until he made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Gordon never eaten any of the cookies
before.
Jimmy Kimmel brought a platter of Tagalongs, Thin Mints and Samoa Cookies for the chef.
They even brought Ramsay a glass of milk, completing the whole experience.
From the first bite, everyone could see we were heading to a classic Gordon Ramsay reaction.
But it went all downhill from there.
Now was time for the Samoa cookies.
After his first bite, you could see Gordon was feeling the cookies.
The chef didn't even swallow the cookie and chose to spit them out.
Thin mints didn't fare much better, Ramsay then spat those out as well.
We're just glad there weren't any girl scouts for Gordon to criticize.
But before we move on to more of those pesky things Gordon hates, show us your love!
Hit that subscribe button and don't miss out on more videos.
Now, back to the show…
Being Asked What His Last Meal Would Be
Gordon has thousands and thousands of interviews under his belt.
With that in mind, he also has probably answered the same questions a few dozens of time.
This happened in a Reddit Q&A Gordon was doing to promote his mobile game.
At first, he pranked the question-asker, saying that this question was good.
Then, came the Gordon we all know and love - The chef stated that he had "been asked
that about 2,000 f*****g times."
First, the chef said that he wasn't that bad to be on death row.
Some of the chefs under him might disagree though.
"If it was my last supper, ask me that question in 40 years' time when I'm 90 years of age,
I can't go to the bathroom properly, and I need my ass wiped on a regular basis."
Shortcuts
Gordon is a true professional.
For years, he worked harder than most, honing his craft and eventually becoming one of the
world's most famous chefs.
Gordon is nothing else but a hard and dedicated entrepreneur.
That's the reason why the chef hates when people try to take shortcuts.
Ramsay is in love with the art of cooking and would never give up the years it took
to master his craft.
That's why he's so annoyed when he sees chefs doing this.
If you have the job done quicker, you're removing the essence and the true passion
of why you're a chef in the first place."
"whether it's a plumber, an electrician, or even a police officer, and getting it done
quickly for the sake of it is not the smartest idea."
You can see this motto on his many shows, where he always believed in putting the time
and effort to get things right.
Like he said: "Do it properly or don't do it at all."
Truffle Oil
Truffle oil is an ingredient that recently became famous - it is usually used to impart
the flavor and aroma of truffles into any dish.
Truffle oil has many fans, but also many people who are staunchly against it - Gordon, for
example.
Although the chef isn't alone in hating the ingredient.
Many of his peers, like Anthony Bourdain and Joe Bastianich.
Ramsay, however, was probably the one that panned it the hardest.
Back in the season 2 of Masterchef, a contestant actually used truffle oil in her audition.
The contestant made a grave mistake by using the oil - and Gordon let her know that.
"the worst thing, to me, is truffle oil.
That thing needs to be let down."
"they pour it, and it comes out in abundance.
This thing needs to be let out in tiny, tiny, little [amounts]."
Frozen Food
To many people, frozen food is a huge help.
They sit in your freezer for a long period of time, ready to be prepared whenever you're
in a hurry.
All of this is nice and fine, but Gordon firmly believes that frozen food doesn't belong
anywhere near a fancy, high-priced restaurant.
The chef might be belligerent, but one of his main concerns is always the consumer experience.
Take this episode of Kitchen Nightmares.
Gordon scolds the restaurant for using exclusively frozen food.
The way he solved the frozen food problem?
By throwing them away.
The restaurant relied so much on frozen food that Gordon found $12,000 worth of the stuff.
The only thing left in the freezer?
A single lime.
Gordon believes that food has to be as fresh as possible - and there's just not getting
around that.
It might cost more, but it will also attract more customers.
Dinner Parties
Professional chefs of the highest caliber have failed in front of Gordon.
They made professional-grade dishes - and then were themselves chewed out by the chef.
So, it's surprising that anyone was ever courageous enough to invite Ramsay to a dinner
party.
What's less surprising, however, is the fact that Gordon loathes dinner parties.
The first time he voiced his discontent for these events, Gordon was more mannered.
"You have to be so diplomatic.
When the food is so crap, you can't say anything."
For an interview with Playboy, "I can't sit there and pretend everything's delicious
when it's not".
One year after the interview, it seemed like Ramsay's hatred for dinner parties caught
on with his friends.
The chef stated that "thankfully on the back of my reputation I don't get invited
to many."
He said that, for dinner parties, he always checks to see if the hosts have any dogs.
That way, he can just feed the food to the dog and not have to suffer through it.
When it comes to food, Gordon surely won't ever be diplomatic.
He even criticized the cake his mother made him for his birthday.
The chef said that all he wanted to do was "stick a rocket in the end and send it up."
Vegetarians / Vegans
Vegetarians and vegans can be very passionate.
Some firmly believe in their cause and want to spread it to others.
Others just want to do what they think is best - not really caring about what others
do.
Throughout the years, Gordon has gotten a lot of flack for his views on vegetarianism
and veganism.
Being the meat lover he is, the chef seems resolute in teasing vegans and vegetarians
alike.
For example, when a fan sent a picture of her vegan lasagna to him.
The chef's reply?
He said he was a member of PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals.
Sending a food pic to Gordon is similar to throwing yourself into the lion's den, so
that doesn't come as a surprise.
The chef also said that his biggest nightmare would be if any of their kids ever turned
vegetarian.
He said he would "set them on the fence and electrocute them."
During one episode of the F Word, Gordon even had a little bit of a tense moment with the
pop girl group, Girls Aloud.
While this might have been in jest, it certainly wasn't received that way.
Plus, when he was asked if there was anything that he was allergic to, do you know what
Ramsay said?
Vegans.
The Wagyu Fad
Have you ever heard about Wagyu?
It is a brand of beef cattle from Japan, and it is regarded as one of the best beef in
the whole world.
The wagyu beef is predisposed to intense marbling - meaning it contains a lot a fat inside the
muscle, making it look like marble.
Because of all this - and the big hype around it - the beef has a pretty high cost.
At some restaurants, 12 ounces of the beef costs over 160 dollars.
With Gordon's fascination with meat, he should love it, right?
Gordon actually likes the meat so much, he wishes others would respect it more.
"it's a special cut.
It needs to be treated with a little bit of respect."
"Everywhere you go now, there's f*cking Wagyu meatballs.
Preserve it a little bit.
Rest it.
Allow it to become special."
This sounds just like Gordon, asking for the special kind of meat be given the respect
it deserves.
Ironically enough, Gordon does actually serve Wagyu meatballs at Hell's Kitchen.
Foam on Food
For those who don't know, foam has - over the years - become a part of molecular gastronomy.
The benefit of foam is that it can add flavor with little actual substance, When Gordon
was asked what food trend should die immediately, his response was "foam". "when a foam
hits a plate, unless you've eaten it within 3 or 4 seconds, at the end it looks like sort
of toxic scum on a stagnant pool."
To sum it up, Gordon said that we need to get rid of the foam, and keep foam for shaving."
But Gordon revealed that the hatred wasn't for all types of foam.
The latest one I had, I was in Saint Paul, someone gave me a bone marrow foam.
Now when I think about having bone marrow, I don't think about it as a foam.
Chef Mike
You might have a chef Mike of your own, just in the kitchen.
That's your good, old microwave.
While Chef Mike might have helped you before, Gordon isn't much of a fan.
Take this episode, where Gordon watched the staff of Michon's using the microwave over
and over again.
Ramsay was literally facepalming.
When Ramsay showed the staff of Michon's, you could see the difference between reheating
and cooking it fresh.
During Gordon's visit to El Greco, Gordon found a kitchen where Chef Mike was by far
the most overworked staff member.
While the head chef didn't seem to care, Ramsay was aghast.
The zucchini looked like something out of an Alien movie.
To save the restaurant, Ramsay made a dramatic gesture.
So, do you share some of Gordon's hatred?
