Welcome to AVE Global,
the Spanish online courses of the Instituto Cervantes (Cervantes Institute).
In this guide, you will become familiar with the new online materials accessible from different devices.
You will also learn how to access said materials in the online platform where they are hosted.
First of all, go to the AVE Global login page.
Next, choose your support language.
This is the language in which messages
the assistance video subtitles
or the instructions of the activities will appear in the online platform.
Once you've selected your support language,
write the username and password that was sent to you
when you signed up for the course.
If you forgot your password,
click on this link
and follow the instructions on the screen.
If you have any questions regarding the platform or its navigation,

and open a ticket if necessary.
For further information on technical and/or legal issues,
please see the appropriate sections.
If you logged in successfully,
you will see all the courses and units in which you are enrolled.
Click on the one you want access
On the left side menu of the Study Room
is the "Materiales Didácticos" (learning materials) section.
Click on "Materiales" (materials)
to access the course or unit you want.
The main page of the AVE Global materials
looks differently depending on whether you are enrolled in a full course
or in a specific unit or units.
If you are enrolled in a full course,
you will be able to access any of the 3 units the course is composed of,
by clicking on the corresponding image.
It is recommended to see the index of each unit
in order to get a global vision of its structure and contents.
Click on the menu to display the contents
"Contenidos Culturales"(cultural contents) are present in all sessions.
The specific contents of the first 9 sessionsare divided into
Funciones (functions),
Gramática (grammar),
y Léxico (and vocabulary).
The last menu shows the objective of session 10,
"Relaciónate",
as well as the number of tests that the unit contains.
For your convenience,
you can either download the table of contents
or print it out
Click on the cross to go back to the course contents page.
It is also possible to access directly a session or specific activity
using the side navigation menu.
This menu expands and contracts by clicking on the "+" and "-" symbols respectively.

The AVE Global materials can also be directly accessed through the main page of the course.
Click on the picture of the unit you want to study.
The underlined, bold words are links to a specific session,
to the supplementary materials of the session
and to the tests
The communicative objectives of every session are enunciated under each session link.
Click on the title highlighted in bold to access the specific contents of each session.
You will then see a list of the communicative functions practiced on the session,
together with examples of said functions.
These contents are presented in relation to the activity number
number in which they are studied.
There are several ways to navigate through the session:
by using the side menu,
the top menu
or by clicking on the activity you want to do.
This navigation is more comfortable for touch screen devices
Each activity consists of one or more pages.
Instruction is always preceded by the number of the page you are in.
If there is an arrow on the right side of the screen,
there is another activity.
Click on the arrow to continue.
The active elements are easily distinguished because they are highlighted in blue.
Some elements become active as you do the activity.
In order to know how the activity and the different elements on the screen work,
click on the gear icon to display the toolbar.
Then, click on "Ayuda" (help)
A popup window with 2 tabs will appear.
On the left, you can watch a video explaining how the activity where you currently are works.
On the right, you can watch a video on how to navigate through the AVE Global materials.

With the control bar you can:
play and pause the video,
move it forward or backwards,
turn the volumen up or down,
enable or disable subtitles in the support language you selected.
and play the video in full screen.
Click on the cross to close this window and go back to the activity.
From the unit contents page,
you can also access the supplementary materials for each session as well as the tests.
Each one of the first 9 sessions
contains a series of additional activities
to help you increase your understanding of the contents worked in the session.
Click on the supplementary material link of the session you want to practice.
Supplementary materials are classified according to their typology.
These activities will help you to review contents already studied,
to deepen your knowledge on some linguistic aspect,
to search for extra information on the Internet,
to develop learning strategies,
to improve your pronunciation, etc.
These activities are numbered too,
so that you can do the one that most interest you at the moment.
Levels A1 to B1 contain 3 tests per unit,
one after 3 sessions,
whereas levels B2 and C1
only contain one final test at the end of each unit.
Click on the test you wish to take.
On the test main page, you can see the evaluable contents divided into 3 categories:
functions, grammar and vocabulary.
It is recommended to read them carefully and to review any of them if needed.
Once you're ready, click on "Comenzar el test"(start test).
Navigating through the test is similar to navigating through the activities.
However, the "solución" (solution) and "ayuda" (help) iconsare not enabled in the test pages.
It is also important to notice that once you've clicked on the arrow to continue,
you won't be able to go back to the previous page.
Please, review your answers
and make sure all the items are completed before doing so.
After you finish the test, you will see your results
in a scale of 0 to 100,
and an assessment of your performance.
You can review your answers by clicking on "Ver corrección" (see correction)
Right answers are shown in green,
while mistakes are shown in orange
It is also possible to go to session 10 from the content page of the unit.
This session is specially designed to work collaboratively with other students.
It usually involves a real life task
where significant contents studied in the unit are put into practice.
The objectives of session 10 are formulated on the main page.
On this page, you can also see the parts in which the session is divided,
together with the activity number to practice each part.
On session 10, we encourage you to use the online communication tools of the platform,
such as wikis, blogs, forums, etc.
The use of mobile apps to get in touch with other students
via instant messaging, chat or video conference is recommended too.
