Trump says Russia probe will be fair, but timeline unclear NYT
The federal investigation has hung over Trump�s White House since he took office almost a
year ago, and some Trump allies have in recent weeks accused the team of Justice Department
Special Counsel Robert Mueller of being biased against the Republican president.
But in an interview with the New York Times, Trump appeared to shrug off concerns about
the investigation, which was prompted by U.S. intelligence agencies� conclusion that Russia
tried to help Trump defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton by hacking and releasing embarrassing
emails and disseminating propaganda.
�There�s been no collusion.
But I think he�s going to be fair,� Trump said in what the Times described as a 30-minute
impromptu interview at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Mueller has charged four Trump associates in his investigation.
Russia has denied interfering in the U.S. election.
U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said this month that he was not aware of any
impropriety by Mueller�s team.
Trump�s lawyers have been saying for weeks that they had expected the Mueller investigation
to wrap up quickly, possibly by the end of 2017.
Mueller has not commented on how long it will last.
Trump told the Times that he did not know how long the investigation would take.
�Timing-wise, I can�t tell you.
I just don�t know,� he said.
Trump said he thought a prolonged probe �makes the country look bad� but said it has energized
his core supporters.
The interview was a rare break in Trump�s Christmas vacation in Florida.
He has golfed each day aside from Christmas Day, and mainly kept a low profile, apart
from the occasional flurry of tweets.
He spent one day golfing with Republican Senator David Perdue from Georgia, who has pushed
legislation to cap immigration numbers, and had dinner on Thursday with Commerce Secretary
Wilbur Ross, an international trade hawk.
Trump told the Times he hoped to work with Democrats in the U.S. Congress on a spending
plan to fix roads and other infrastructure, and on protections for a group of undocumented
immigrants who were brought to the United States as children.
Trump spoke about trade issues, saying he had backed off his hard line on Chinese trade
practices in the hope that Beijing would do more to pressure North Korea to end its nuclear
and missile testing program.
He said he had been disappointed in the results.
He also complained about the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which his administration
is attempting to renegotiate in talks with Mexico and Canada.Trump said Canadian Prime
Minister Justin Trudeau had played down the importance of Canadian oil and lumber exports
to the United States when looking at the balance of trade between the two countries.
�If I don�t make the right deal, I�ll terminate NAFTA in two seconds.

hi guys this is my Outlander book review on Melissa Elise TV so stay tuned
what's up everyone I'm Melissa Elise and you're watching Melissa Elise TV
welcome to week three of book club we are in the homestretch of book one in the Outlander
series and I don't have any quick thoughts so let's jump right
in this week's reading started at chapter 26 with Jamie's return to Lallybroch with his
Sassenach wife coming to Lallybroch puts Claire in an interesting position
because even though she knew Dougal and Colum are Jamie's uncle's she had her own
confrontations with both of them and she was never trying to win their acceptance
or approval because she was always trying to get back to Craig na Dun but
now that she's chosen to stay with Jamie and his decision to return home this
brings Claire face to face with his family with his childhood with
everything that's really characteristic about Jamie's past
so she meets Jenny Jamie's sister and Jenny's husband Ian Murray
Jamie's best friend so now in addition to adjusting to a whole new family she
also has new responsibilities as the Lady of Lallybroch the Lady Broch Tuarach and
this is all brand new to Claire whereas to Jenny she's been born and bred for
this and she's been doing it all in Jamie's absence
you do see Claire start to find her place and Jenny is gracious in helping her they become this cute
little family with Jamie resuming his duties as Laird and Ian as his right
hand you've got little Jamie running around and all there are other servants
and tenants but of course things can't stay that way
Diana follows this pattern of lulling you into a comfortable place where everything seems fine and good and
pleasant and then before you even have a chance to prepare for it another crisis
rises and each one is more dire than the last but that's why you keep reading
the only thing that drives me a little crazy about Diana's writing is that she will
pause in the middle of action too give you backstory in to Claire or
Jamie's decisions or thoughts like during Claire's first rescue attempt to
free Jamie the story he tells about the Irish prisoner he was chained next to
once that showed him how to break a lock or again when Claire is fighting off the
wolf outside the prison and the story she tells about this corporal from the
canine unit that taught her how to know when a dog's going to attack though
relevant these side anecdotes take me out of the urgency of the moment and I
just want the action to continue I don't have a favorite passage this week so
much has happened and I can't believe there's only four chapters left I will
say I am glad that Jamie told Claire his last and main reason for marrying her in
chapter 27 which was out of love for her but it's not until chapter 31 but he
actually says the words I love you it seems crazy that it took this long for
the words to be said or written and even though Claire isn't the one to say it
she certainly proves it in her efforts to free Jamie and I have a feeling that
when she finally does say it it will be at just the right moment I asked her
characters this week I'm so glad we finally get to meet Jenny Fraser or
Murray and we did to spend more time with Murtagh
jenny is basically a female version of Jamie and such a vital part to his story and his life
thus far Claire has been on this journey getting the Jamie and meeting Jenny was the missing
piece she's his only immediate family and a wonderful character
Murtagh though mostly quiet and serious comes into a whole new light for Claire when she
finds out that he's Jaime's Godfather I really like the progression of their
relationship as they go on this journey to find Jaime and then to rescue him and
get him to the abbey there's a whole nother level of camaraderie that they
reach after having experienced all these things together
next week's reading is only four chapters the last four in book 1 and if
you've been following along with the reading schedule which is always
available in the description we finished book 1 on December 30th which was
yesterday I hope you enjoy reading through it with me and are ready to jump
in the book too dragonfly and amber reading starts January 2nd and the new
reading schedule is in the description of this video but leave me a comment if
you've been able to keep up with the previous schedule next week's video will
include an overview of book 1 and those last four chapters and then we'll jump
right into the first 10 of book 2 until then I wish you a happy new year thank

Erica Garner, activist daughter of New York chokehold victim, dies at 27
(Reuters) - Erica Garner, the daughter of a New York man whose death during an attempted
arrest helped spark the �Black Lives Matter� movement against police brutality, died on
Saturday, a posting on her official Twitter account showed.
Garner, 27, suffered a heart attack triggered by an asthma attack a week ago, family members
told the New York Daily News.
She became an activist against police brutality after the July 2014 death of her father, Eric
Garner.
The 43-year-old father of six died while New York City officers were attempting to arrest
him on suspicion of selling loose cigarettes.
Eric Garner also suffered from asthma.
If anything, (what) she would want us to do in memory of her is keep fighting for justice,
and keep fighting for families,� said civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton in a video
posted online.
Sharpton became an adviser to Eric Garner�s family after his death.
Erica Garner often wore clothing emblazoned with �I can�t breathe,� the words her
father wheezed when an officer allegedly put him in a chokehold while trying to subdue
him.
That phrase became a rallying cry during protests across the United States in 2014 against police
brutality, particularly against black people.
The New York Police Department has banned the use of chokeholds on suspects for more
than two decades, but decided against indicting Daniel Pantaleo, the white officer who sought
to subdue Garner.
Activists say the prosecutor in the case, a Republican, was not aggressive enough in
seeking the indictment.
A video of the incident went viral on social media in the days after it occurred in front
of a beauty parlor in one of New York City�s five boroughs, Staten Island.
After the grand jury�s decision, the Patrolmen�s Benevolent Association union released a statement
from Pantaleo saying he never intended to harm Eric Garner and felt bad about his death.
