The battle to lead Trump�s potential impeachment

Reps. Zoe Lofgren and Jerry Nadler are vying to be the ranking member of the House Judiciary

Committee � a potentially outsized role if Democrats win the House.

House Democrats this week are set to resolve a seemingly insignificant standoff with deceptively

big consequences: deciding who would lead potential impeachment proceedings against

President Donald Trump should they take back the House.

Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) and Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), two longtime members who both

hail from power centers of the Democratic Party, are competing to be the top Democrat

on the House Judiciary Committee. That�s the panel that historically holds the keys

to the impeachment process.

Both Nadler and Lofgren know they're signing up to be Trump�s chief antagonist in Congress.

But, in separate interviews, they also emphasized the importance of Democrats not overplaying

their hand.

They're both acutely aware that appearing too eager about impeaching the president could

alienate voters and vulnerable incumbents in their caucus who cringe when the topic

is raised.

�I�m not running as an impeachment candidate and I don�t think Jerry Nadler is either,�

Lofgren said during an interview in her office.

She and Nadler have been jockeying for the top Judiciary spot for months. The internal

election was not expected until after the midterms next November, but was hastened by

the recent resignation of Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), the longtime top Democrat on the

committee, over sexual harassment allegations. The full Democratic Caucus will hold an election

for the post Wednesday.

For Lofgren � a Democratic staffer on the committee during Richard Nixon�s impeachment

and a member of the panel during the investigation into Bill Clinton � the process would have

to be bipartisan, with buy-in from Republicans and the public to be successful.

�By the time the vote was taken in the Judiciary Committee to impeach Richard Nixon, the country

understood it and they agreed with it,� Lofgren said. �This should be a healing

effort, not a divisive effort, if it happens.�

Lofgren hinted that kind of support would likely come only if Special Counsel Robert

Mueller uncovered documented evidence showing Trump took actions that were a threat to the

country. Both Nadler and Lofgren recently voted against an impeachment resolution offered

by Democratic Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), agreeing with other Democrats that the move was far

too premature.

Nadler, too, said impeachment must have substantial buy-in from erstwhile Trump supporters to

to be worthwhile. Partly, he said, because of the math: Though the House can impeach

a president, the Senate requires a two-thirds vote for removal, which would be impossible

without some Republican support.

"There�s not much point in impeaching a president and having him acquitted in the

Senate as happened with Clinton," he said.

Secondly, he said, for Democrats to pursue impeachment, they should have a reasonable

belief that some segment of Trump voters will understand and support the push based on evidence.

"If you are actually going to remove a president from office, you are in effect nullifying

the last election. Certainly the people who voted for him will think you�re nullifying

the election," Nadler said. "It�s OK to do that. It may be necessary to do that �as

long as you have persuaded a sufficient fraction of the president�s former supporters, the

people who voted for him, that you have to, that it�s necessary."

Nadler said a few Democrats have discussed with him the prospect of impeaching Trump.

But their more immediate concern is a constitutional crisis, should Trump attempt to fire or discredit

Mueller.

"There�s a consciousness that that may happen. That may very well happen," Nadler said. "I

think I�d be better at the helm of the Judiciary Committee, in terms of forcefulness, in terms

of constitutional issues." He added that he took "a very [big] leadership role" in the

development of a Democratic strategy to counter the GOP push to impeach Clinton even as a

junior member.

The Democratic Caucus� steering committee will meet Tuesday to pick its preferred candidate

and the full caucus will vote using a secret ballot Wednesday. There�s little ideological

daylight between Lofgren and Nadler, and Democrats say it could come down to a popularity contest.

�At the end of the day, these elections are � like a student body election,� said

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.). �And so, a lot is really about personal relationships.a

SEE THRU HAND SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKEUP LOOK TUTORIAL| KOSMIC KRISTEN - Duration: 9:16.

hey everyone it's Kristen and today I'm going to be doing a hole in the hand

that you can see through to your eye makeup look I'm not really sure what to

call this particular look this type of look has been going around the internet

for a week or so now that I've seen it and ever since I saw it I was really

blown away by it and the concept of this look is to make

it look like your hand has a hole in it and you can see through to your eye or

see through something else behind you and make it look like it's see-through

and so I really really love this look and I'll put my inspiration photos down

below where I first saw it and all the credits and everything like that but it

really had bothered me because I was like that makeup is so good

almost too good if you ask me and so I really was considering like how does

they go about doing this and what did they use and so I I've gone

back to different pictures and I have gone to the comments to see what other

people had said because I wanted to see if it was perplexing anyone else and

what they thought they were doing and so I also started to come to the conclusion

that it must just be Photoshop but I just kept thinking about it it kept

coming up in my mind and I kept seeing other people doing the same thing and

then it occurred to me a way that you can actually do it with just

special-effects makeup and some innovation on your part and so if you

guys would like to see it my take on this type of look and what you could do

yourself to create a smooth look to this with special effects makeup then

watching and I hope you enjoy to start out this look we're gonna be using the

Urban Decay full spectrum palette for the color metamorphosis and we're gonna

be putting this in the crease area and blending outwards

next in the same palette we're using a different blue named blindsided the

Marine fighting this in the crease area as well but not blending as far out and

keeping it more in the outer corners next using the laura mercier intense

clays palette we're going to be using the dark blue color and keeping this in

the crease and in the outer corners as well for this color I'm making sure not

to blend out too much to keep the intense blue color next we're gonna be

filling in the eyelid with white and blending it a little bit in with the

blue but keeping it mostly solid white then taking some of the blue onto the

lower lash line as well for the lashes I'm using the Rimmel scandaleyes mascara

and putting it on the top lashes

now for the eye on the hand I took a picture of my eye and printed it out and

I'll be using it as the eye on my hand I think this is how the other people have

done this look by making their eye look very realistic they're just using a

picture of their own eye you could also do this with Photoshop but this is the

way I came up with how to do it it's makeup so you want to make sure that the

eye that you print out is the same size as your actual eye and to adhere this

we're going to be using a liquid latex

next using the Ben Nye nose and scar wax and we're going to be putting this

around the outside of the eye having parts of it fold over the eye to make it

look like the skin is going around it I find it's easier to kind of get the

piece that I want before I put it on my hand kind of manipulating it before I

put it down and I think this helps getting the shape I want rather than

trying to put it and then if you look the shape after nose and scar wax is

very temperamental and it is very hard to work with but once you get it down it

becomes easier if it's sticking to your hands you can use a little bit of

Vaseline to help it not stick and like I said it's easier to manipulate when you

are using both your hands than trying to put it down and either manipulate it

with some sort of spatula or a knife so this is the way I would suggest going

about it after you put all you want around the sides and you have the shape

that you want for sort of the rip effect you can then go around the sides and the

edges and smooth them down to make it look like more a part of your hands and

the skin coming off of your hands

once you have the shape that you want it's time to paint on some blood and

this is a pint of staged blood and I'm going to be taking a brush and just

brushing on where I think the color needs to be keeping it more saturated by

the rip and then sort of blending outwards in little splashes to make it

look more realistic you could also use a red face paint or some other sort of

body paint but I think that the blood looks the most realistic

to give the bed a little bit more dimension and to make some of the blood

look a little older I'm gonna be using Hershey's chocolate syrup because the

scab blood that I had actually dried out somehow so in a pinch the Hershey's

chocolate will give you a nice sort of deep colored blood look and so that's

what I came up with to make if they see through eye and look do you think this

is how others have done this look or do you think they use Photoshop I'd love to

Bharti Kher at at Salon Berlin I Museum Frieder Burda - Duration: 3:31.

For Bharti Kher's first solo exhibition in Germany

we chose to show work from the past five years,

as well as a large installation

specifically conceived for Salon Berlin.

It's in direct dialogue with Gerard Richter's 'Grau-Bild'

from the Collection Frieder Burda.

That's what creates the charge in the room.

One is deeply masculine and one is

sort of quite overtly feminine.

There's no way to enter that grey

and on the other side of the room you have

this vortex, which is saying "Come in".

'Virus VIII', it's a time-based work,

so it's a 30-year project

and it marks historical moments,

but it also marks my life and the life of my family.

You see this variation in color

constantly changing itself.

A lot of my practice is about using ready-made objects

you know in the very old and

grand tradition of modernism.

The bindi works started in about 1998.

I like this idea that a small marker

placed between the eyes somehow represented

what they term in Hinduism is your third eye,

so this is the way of seeing.

They're not sort of passive.

They also look back at you.

In some ways when you think about it,

the bindi is a very psychoanalytic way

of me looking at the rest of the world.

I'm sticking thousands and thousands and thousands of

eyes every single day

and asking myself "What do you see?",

"How is it that what you're seeing will change

the way that you are?".

The way that I was looking at my body,

my sense of space, my sense of individuality

as a woman in India changed quite a lot.

I'd never been aware of my sexuality in such a

very obtuse and obvious manner.

I was looking for a way to understand self, my own self,

and the many different types of identities

that we have as women.

You know, smashing the mirror became

a bit of a punk statement.

It was kind of a radical gesture to say,

"Actually, you know what? I'm gonna break like

300 mirrors this year and I don't care really."

The very feminine reaction to that was also

to repair what you destroy.

Bindis have gum on them

and by sticking many, many, many, suddenly

I create this adhesion of surface and material

and the mirror holds itself together.

When you make the sculpture, there's a point

where the work sits.

I do believe that every object has its center of gravity

and it's this perfect state of equilibrium.

It's the culmination of this beautiful

positive negative charge.

'The Intermediaries', they are clay objects

that have been made for religious festivals in India.

What I'm doing is I'm sort of cutting them up

and breaking them and moving them together

to allow them to become something else.

As an artist, I think our role is to

transform or to create magic from material.

This show has been really an interesting way of pulling

all the different ideas that I have in the studio

and bringing them together.

Hello everyone! I was thinking today would be a good day to practice my French

As everyone knows, I'm from Louisiana, and have some creole/creolophone ancestry.

and therefore I would like to learn French and improve it.

Before when Louisiana was a French colony, everyone spoke French.

Or Creole.

In general, the black people spoke creole

but there were also black people who spoke French as well

(to clarify) When I say black, I mean I'm speaking specifically about Black people like me

(mulatto experience was very different*) The mulattoes are a little different

but....there are lots of mulattoes who consider themselves black also

but when I say black, I mean black like me (not heavily mixed).

My family is originally from a small town called

Natchitoches.

It's at the center of the state. (more or less*)

My great grandfather was from the south of the state

We think he was from Pointe Coupee

but we are not sure if he was from there or another town close to it.

He was called George David.

And he had Haitian descent. He was Haitian.

I'm not sure if he spoke French, Creole, or just Creole or both languages.

I am sure that he was from the south of the state.

My other great grandfather was from Opelousas, and he was a Rachel.

The word creole is very controversial

There are many definitions of the word creole

Some people say the "true" creoles are the mixed race

There are other people who say

the "true" creoles are just white or European.

And also there are lot of people who say

that a creole is a person who has Francophone/Creolophone (Latin)

heritage/(culture*) before Louisiana became a part of the United States. (regardless of race*)

In general, one has a (surname*) that is French, Spanish, or Haitian origin

For me it's not a race

There are many people that say that yes, it is a race

That it's necessary to be heavily mixed race or white

But for me it's not a race. For me, it is an ethnic group (similar to Latinos)

For me there are white, black, and heavily mixed race creoles.

And also, I have seen documents

that refer to black people as creole.

I've seen it.

It's true. And if you go to Haiti

or Martinique

or Guadualoupe

it's not a race there, I don't think it's considered a race in these places.

For them (eux not lui*) our cousins, it's an ethnic group

It's a culture.

It's not a race.

For me, and nor for them, it's a race.

Before when Louisiana was a French colony, there were 3 types of French or dialects or whatever you want to call them

spoken here.

First we had Colonial French (now extinct here)

It's the French that came directly from Europe with White Creoles. (**I meant mainlanders not creoles)

And it was different to the French of Cajuns that came from Canada. (Bad editing*)

My people spoke Louisiana* creole

And creole was a language

African (languages*) mixed with French and a little Spanish and little Native American.

The majority of the vocabulary is French

But the syntax, the word order,

was more African. (It was influenced by numerous African languages*)

And the black people here spoke Creole. (And others)

But, I'm not sure if all black people spoke French

I am not sure.

I know many of the mixed race people spoke Colonial French* and Creole

Or a mixture of both.

But I'm not sure if most black people spoke French as well.

Unfortunately French and LA creole are in danger of extinction

Here in Louisiana.

the Louisiana government made

it prohibited to speak French in the schools

And therefore young people

my grandparents ( also due to the negative attitude towards French*)

did not learn the language.

And now there are many young people like me

Who want to learn it. But it's very difficult.

The problem of today is that...

the majority of young people don't want to practice

nor make the effort to learn French.

Because yes, French is very difficult. ( I exaggerate)

Being that I already speak Spanish

French was slightly easier for me

But, never the less I have problems

with grammar. For example, the prepositions

Je me embrouille* I get confused with that.

The grammar tenses

The future, subjunctive

Ca me embrouille* is very confusing for me.

Many things, many things

I gotta practice

That's life. If I practice everyday

I should take another* French class

at the University.

I'm going to do that.

I should do that. I need that.

I learned French in France

Therefore I speak with an accent a little more Frenchified or whatever, I don't know.

For me, it's easier to speak like this

than to speak like how the Cajun speak in Lafayette. (In bad Cajun accent*)

Because the Louisiana French accent is very different to that of France

It's closer to Canadian French

Quebec, Montreal

Actually, I'm not very comfortable with French because it is difficult. (I exaggerated here*)

Also, I only lived in Paris for one year,

so I didn't have enough time

to polish (l' affiner*) it.

I can have a basic conversation.

But a complex conversation about politics or religion

Or something like that

would be difficult
