Why Do Birds Migrate Like This? - Duration: 2:08.

Hi, this is Emily from MinuteEarth.

Each autumn, tens of billions of birds fly from higher latitudes to the tropics, and

if they went straight - as the crow flies - their trips would be thousands of miles

long.

But instead, they often zig and zag along the way – adding an extra thousand miles

or more to their journeys, which actually helps them get to their destinations faster.

Winds on Earth regularly blow in specific directions, and when birds fly with the wind

at least partially at their backs, they can greatly increase their flying speed compared

with birds flying against the wind.

So even if, say, a swallow has to go out of its way and fly 25% farther to take advantage

of the wind, if it doubles its airspeed velocity by doing so, it can get there in less than

two thirds the time.

On top of this, many migrating birds are land-lubbers at heart.

Small birds generally avoid water because they're too small to survive storms on the

open seas.

Larger birds, on the other hand, stay above land because their wings are big enough compared

to their bodies that they're able to get lift, without flapping, from huge columns of rising

air called thermals, which form from uneven heating of the ground.

A bird in a thermal can simply rise with the hot air and then glide down to the next thermal.

Sticking to land during their long migrations brings birds from all over the world together

at a few key straits and land bridges along their routes.

For a few weeks each year, these hot spots fill with flocks of squawking foreigners,

both in the sky and on the ground below.

This video was sponsored by W.W. Norton and Company, the publisher of the new book "Where

The Animals Go: Tracking Wildlife with Technology in 50 Maps and Graphics", which tells the

stories of animal movements throughout the world.

We LOVED this book, and this higher-than-birds-eye view of Israel's avian and plane traffic

during the Fall migration actually inspired us to make this video.

BALI : Vegetarian food & My hotel on Kuta beach (DAY 1) - Duration: 13:37.

Don't be surprised to see me like this

You'll see me hitting the road in a few moments

I am here to answer some of the queries of some viewers

those queries were related to my previous video

People asked me Did I need to get Malaysian visa during the layover in KL?

And.. what documents are required to get the visa for Bali

So lets start

Did I require the Malaysian visa for the layover in KL while flying from Delhi to Bali?

No, its not required

Most of the countries allow passengers to transit without a taking their visa, unless you step out of their airport

For eg, I travelled Delhi to Omsk (Russia) via Kazakhstan

In that case I was not required to get a Kazakh visa, as I stayed inside the airport

You don't require to take a transit or tourist visa in such cases

Let me go the second query

One of the viewers asked -

Do I need to take the checked-in baggage at the layover airport or it goes directly to my final destination?

No you are not required to do this

If both of your flights have same PNR or its the same airline, then you don't have to worry

Its the responsibility of the airlines to do all the arrangements so that you get your luggage at the final destination when you reach there

While travelling from Delhi to Bali, I did not have any check0in baggage

I had a small strolley bag which fits easily inside the overhead cabins

But what happens when the two flights are from different airlines?

let me explain you with an example

I travelled from Delhi to Prague in 2016

I travelled from Delhi to Dubai with Air India express

and from Dubai to Prague with Smartwings

So there was a layover in Dubai

But as the airport terminal for both the airlines was same, I was not required to get Dubai's visa

Also, I was not having any checked-in baggage

To collect the checked-in baggage, you need to access a particular area which can be reached only if you have the visa of that country

So either travel light/just with you cabin baggage

or get the visa of the transit country if you have checked-in baggage

I hope now its clear to you

Lets talk about Bali visa

Actually to visit Bali, you don't require a visa

Citizens of many countries are allowed visa-free entry in Indonesia

only for tourism

So you do not require to produce any documents as visa is not required

Just stand in the immigration queue and get your passport stamped... Thats it

Its like Indians can go without a visa to Nepal or Bhutan

The only difference is that in Indonesia, you have to produce your passport whereas Nepal and Bhutan don't require that too

Your passport must have six months validity to visit Indonesia

I request everyone to use the facebook group to ask the queries

There are thousands of people to help you over there. Also help others if you can

Now lets see today's video

From the airport, now we have reached to a restaurant to have lunch

its 2 pm

Bali has many similarities with India

Like India, the road traffic use the left side of the road

Culturally Bali is quite similar to India

They will be guiding us during our trip

In this trip, I am also going to tell you what Bali has got for vegetarians?

I was welcomed with Daluman

This is coconut milk with Daluman leaves

This is sweetened with Palm sugar

This cost 20,000 IDR

which is equivalent to 96 INR

Now I am going to have Tipa cantok

This has cabbage, nuts, peanut sauce and rice cake

This cost 150 INR or 30,000 IDR

Gentleman, this is my room

This is Anvaya beach resort

This is how a room looks like in this resort!

Always keep a travel adapter while travelling to Indonesia

The Indian chargers may not be useful in these sockets

Relax in this balcony

oh! Thats sea over there

I just noticed this

Now we have come to this place to have dinner

This is Gabah restuarant

Let me tell you what I am going to have in dinner on the first day of Bali trip!

This is Nasi bakar Jamur

This vegetarian meal cost 65000 IDR

312 Indian Rupees

Terima Kasih (Thanks)

What a brilliant performance it was!

Now I am walking to my hotel

Kuta is quite a happening place

Its is located in the south of Bali

My hotel should be around 1 kilometre from here

Oh, that's a market!

Bali is quite popular among Indian tourist

So you will a lot of Indian restaurants here

This is one of them

I saw some more like this which offer Indian food

I have reached my hotel

Agile, Waterfall, Standups, BDD and Lean - Christmas Box Sets [2017] - Duration: 3:38.

Taking time off over Christmas and the New Year?

Delighted to hear it!

I have some holiday viewing suggestions for you

featuring: a boot, a megastar

a pizza. And a cute little aeroplane

My name is Gary Straughan. This is Development That Pays.

Let's dive in to the Top 5 Playlists of 2017

In January we did a handful of videos on the subject of the daily standup.

I had fun trying to lip-sync Brad Pitt.

The 2nd rule of Standup is: You must do Standup.

You'll find a link to this playlist in the description below.

And a link to the accompanying Cheat Sheet.

From Daily Standup, we moved on to Waterfall

I told the tale of how my video production process moved from Agile to Waterfall

And back to Agile.

I somehow managed to work in a boot.

And a pizza!

This playlist also comes with a Cheat Sheet. (Link below.)

From Waterfall we moved on to Behaviour Driven Development.

I picked a bone with Dan North: the father - the godfather! - of Behaviour Driven Development!

Alas, I came second (!)

But I have no regrets: I came away with a deeper insight into BDD.

I hope you will too

More recently, we returned to the business side of Agile.

I asked the question: "is Agile cost effective?"

Some people were challenged by my claim

that 1+1 can equal 3

I was accused of misleading the jury

My rebuttal was most strenuous.

We had an interesting discussion about value

and its "persist-ability" and "stack-ability"

Before my final selection

I'd like to thank you for your support in 2017

I learned so much from your comments

You have helped to shape Development That Pays.

I can't thank you enough

If you're up for getting your teeth into something of Game Of Thrones proportions,

look no further than the Lean Start-up Journey.

My cunning plan to create a course of some kind - and do so in a Lean fashion.

There were many twists and turns along the way

Did we fly off into the sunset?

Or did we crash and burn?

Watch the playlist and find out!

The Lean Startup, Agile, BDD, Waterfall

and the Daily Standup

5 playlists to enjoy over the the festive period.

You'll find links to all of them below

Whether or not you celebrate Christmas, may I take this opportunity to wish you and your

family a restful and peaceful end to 2017.

I look forward to seeing you again in 2018.

First the dance changed me, than I changed the dance - Duration: 4:56.

You said that for you the dance is a mental, physical and emotional journey.

What was the starting point of this journey and how it has transformed you? My

roots are Syrian and I believe because spirituality was practiced in previous

generations by grandfathers and grandmothers probably this became kind

of genetic codex. And me as young boy who was loving to move, even studied

engineering, I discovered the dance and start to move and decide to be a dancer, where I

had a huge pleasure. But I realized after a while that the dance language

I practice is not mine, it's like ready-made terminology. There

are some people called choreographs asking me to do those movements and I'm

trying to do those because if I do it I will get the job and they will call me

dancer etc. And intuitively I've realized this is not actually what I look for.

Especially the language wasn't my body language, it was a bit more Western and

I'm not Western - I mean - yes, a part of me is Western, but not

just this. And one day I just had the feeling I should start searching for my

own vocabulary. I start renting studios and dancing alone to really find out what

would be my movement and that was the time where I was quite interested in

minimalism, listening to minimalist musicians and doing repetitive movements

a lot. While doing so one day I discovered by chance the spinning. So I was just

doing one single turn and as you can imagine when you think minimalistic or

repetitive so you make one single turn again and again and again and again.

It was of course hard job for me because I didn't know how it works, how to solve

the problems but day by day I found solutions for that so. and analytically as

an engineer, I start thinking how to solve the problems and day by day

I solved them by myself. So I never took actually lessons,

spinning lessons. I taught myself. Then my first solos got interest and those solos

helped me to go further in movement. Because the confirmation I got

through those short solos, it was like: Hey, Zia, you are on the right

path, go ahead! And anyhow I loved this action,

I start doing many different solos and big companies also start inviting me as

the spinner dancer. So this became my terminology. Was in the dance that

transformed you or you were the one that transformed the dance? I would say

chicken-egg story. Discovering that repetitive movement was

my interest and take the one single turn into repetition which ends in two in

spinning, so I would say maybe the movements entered into my life and

then changed me. But as much I was changed I start really seeing also

rituals, mystic, dance, personality, social responsibility, being artists in a

different way. So then I start to change my movement. So first the movement

changed me but then I changed. So I was not anymore

the one looking for a specific terminology of movement, neither to be a

real dervish, or no contemporary dancer, no ballet dancer, nor gymnasts. So I let

it happen as it comes. And this was probably my influence to

movement. this is how I changed the movement, this how this hybrid terminology

appeared.

Trendy Butler Unboxing - Duration: 8:19.

what's going on YouTube I cheated this month I already took a

peek at both of these packages right here I have two months worth of trendy

Butler the past two months I mean one of my favorite companies you're looking at

sixty-five dollars a month two to three items really nice item you know always

good quality you know you could really set your profile up now to where you're

getting stuff that you know that you're gonna like and you'd like to worry about

exchanging or anything like that but I mean let's just get right into these

packages boom so this is my first package right here it looks like they

already folded it together because it's gonna be like you know just an outfit

right here a nice looking bomber jacket but I won't first let you guys know

Santos ten that's gonna save you $10 off your first one so you can try this out

for $55 send it as a gift Christmas is around the corner holidays you might

want to send somebody a nice outfit trendy brother would do the job for you

but let's get into the exact specifics of this I'm actually wearing a nice

t-shirt that I got from Trinity Butler in a previous package a watch game watch

right here MBA edition Rasta clamp bracelet always always got something

going on on my wrist so we got a bomber jacket I like the bomber jacket I like

how it's like a fabric here and they're like a quilt in like with brick with two

on the house I saw like the contrast of the other blacks and then I kind of like

how you have a line in the back so I like how its matched with a dressy shirt

underneath I like that look it's kind of like a casual but let's just unzip it so

this the dress shirt right here is ma shumou moshu ma I got I'm trying to

think I got like a crewneck type of sweater from this brand really good

quality eyewear I've worn it a couple times already so most likely this shirt

is a good quality so here is the dresser but

let's just go into the jacket first so you got cohesive and company I have a

couple days from them always always I'm happy with them

actually got it has a dual zipper I guess that's just a cool look I mean

nobody actually puts the doors are pretty use but you got the dual zipper

but let's let me try this thing on so it's what we have right here I kind of

like the line going down the back cohesive a company I have a pair of

joggers like a khaki pair of joggers that I wear often really like that's

from this brand this first thing oh the next thing matches pretty well with what

I win right now it's actually perfect I mean I like to fit fits good it feels

good I think it probably looks good you probably you know I'm trying it on

already but let's seek out with that so you also have been here you know the

brand cohesive accompany these dots is I it's similar to my actual joggers that I

have with them because they had this pattern on the inside just something

fancy on the inside I guess that brings quality to to the actual I'm gonna put

how much these items actually cost like on the website I know that these items

are always around 50 plus dollars apiece so like I said $55 for the first one

with Santos ten that's gonna give you $10 off but you know good quality so

let's check out that shirt alright so here is the shirt it's like a Chinese or

Japanese and I'm not trying to offend Asia I don't want on offend anybody but

we have 80s so this actually has the price on it I don't know if we zoom it

in focus on that it says $88 for this dresser right here so it has a thicker

feel to it and it looks like this is like this is a type of white you know

dress shirt but that you will wear as like they had it here you know not what

a tie kind of like as the main part of the outfit you know no need for a tie or

not like a plain dress sure because it has these these buttons that really

stand out has like a wooden or like a metal type type feel to them pocket he's

got some like torso I would definitely wear it as an outfit with this jacket

but you already seen how how it came that's exactly what it would look like

and I'm it's gonna fit me because it's a medium so I'm happy with this package

let's take a look at the next pack all right so here we have some colours black

and white for one month and then this one we have some colors and what I do

notice is that both of the items are from Thomas Paine Thomas Paine I've

gotten a couple collar a couple dress shirts from Thomas Paine through trendy

Butler those dress shirts are always $110 a piece and like I said $65 a month

you're getting some good you know retail value in these product in these packages

so let's see exactly what these islands are that's going this as the first one

so we have just like a long-sleeve shirt it's got some detail to it on the collar

like just some extra you know stitching type of look to it as well as the the

back of the arm so it's not just so they try to make it you know it's not just a

plain shirt now there's no retail value but I will leave that retail value or

pop it up on the screen something for you guys so you guys could really see

now I don't know if this is actually a lawsuit yes a long sleeve and then you

also have that same line going through the front as you can see right here so

I'm gonna try this stuff on I'm gonna try this stuff on so you guys can see

how it fits but that is that right there so this is one of the items second item

so for the second item it's also Thomas Paine it's looking like a sweater right

like a hoodie but it's got some some casualness to it it's not just a regular

ol hoodie because it has has these little shoulder the shoulder pad pattern

over here and then you have this type of cuff area right here it kind of looks

like a more of a sweater like a sweatshirt so it has more of a like a

casual look to it and also at the bottom so it's almost like half hoodie half

cardigan type of look so you can probably pull this off with that white

shirt is what but I'm gonna try it both of these items on they do not match and

it's not supposed to but I'm gonna just try them on let you guys see what they

look like alright so this right here this long sleeve this is how

my arms I like the extra detail too I think it really adds although it's not

much it really adds to the look I like it fits good perfect length perfect fit

I'm really happy with this I'm just gonna throw the sweater on top although

like I said it does not match I just want to see how it fits as you guys can

see you know what it looks like it might it feels like it definitely has a car to

give feel to it so I'm gonna call this half honey half cardigan alright so I

think a nice little button-up shirt that matches would be cool underneath it the

sleeves I feel like it's a little bit baggy over here but I do like the

shoulders I like the shoulders on it and it's a zip it up and see exactly what

we're looking at here so you know one side zip it up it's definitely got that

like a little bit baggy cardigan type of feel to it but with the hoodie so it's

like half car to get half hoodie I think it's pretty cool what I normally buy

something like this at the store probably not but that's what I love

about these packages it kind of takes you out of your comfort zone trying

something new you end up liking it so that's two

months right there I'm turning butter guys

Santos ten $10 off

certains is too small might as has been the brains

my new brothers slide and already

Zac Efron: 'I don't regret my mistakes'

The 30-year-old actor first shot to fame in Disney Channels High School Musical movies, before making a name for himself in Hollywood with roles in films such as Hairspray, 17 Again and Charlie St.

Cloud.

He hit headlines in 2013 when he entered rehab to seek help for his alcohol and drug addiction issues, but told Australias Daily Telegraph in a new interview that all the trials and tribulations he has encountered in his life have contributed to making him the man he is today.

Ive done a lot of things that I look back on and go 'sheesh, are you kidding, what were you thinking? he told the publication.

It is weird to say because I am also happy that I did all of those things because I am here before you today able to proclaim that this is me and I am very proud of who I am..

Zac is currently on the promo trail for his new movie The Greatest Showman, in which he stars alongside Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams and Zendaya.

In the film, Zac plays Phillip Carlyle, who becomes a key part of real-life showman P.T.

Barnums circus production, and added that his real-life no regrets attitude is very similar to the movies message about embracing your true self.

We want to achieve that ability to say this is me and feel that.

But it is a fleeting moment.

It is one that I know I am going to have to face tomorrow,.

he mused.

Every day I wake up and I have to start with again the man in the mirror and it is like starting from square one all over again.

You are never perfect, you wake up every day and theres a new set of challenges..

WE SPENT THE NIGHT IN A MAYAN VILLAGE IN MEXICO ! 😲 - Duration: 11:59.

What is going on members of the Barrio?

It's Jon and I am coming to you from Chunkanan about 1 hour from Merida

And today i'm going to show you perhaps the most unique accomodations

That I have ever booked

In my life

We are at Sac Nicte

Which is a spot that allows you to have Mayan Palapas

And spend the night right next to a Mayan Village

We're going to be sleeping in hammocks

Enough talking.. why don't I just show you guys around?

What's behind door number 1?

This is our sleeping area

I would call it the bedroom

Except their are no beds

We are going to be sleeping in these hammocks

This is completely Mayan style

Exactly how the locals would sleep.

And here's the other one.

Have a nice screened view of the backyard here.

We're basically in the middle of nowhere

Which is exactly what we wanted

To escape the daily grind a bit

Their is no wifi here

Which is a blessing I think?

The bathroom has most modern things that you would want.

Electricity

It does have hot water

A shower

The tub is pretty nice

Hi mom

Now we are approaching the kitchen

And Adriana is already testing out

One of the many hammocks here

Yes.

Como estas?

Muy bien.

And if you look up

Every single little place here

Has a palapa

This is a Mayan roof

Made with palm leaves

Not a real parrot

We also have a pool.

So while this is off the beaten path

There are plenty of little luxuries

On the property

Now I've got a real treat for you guys

As part of the stay here

You can organize this

We actually have a Mayan Shaman

Who is going to be showing us a cleansing ceremony

I've never had anything like this done to me

Or really seen anything like this

So let's find out what it's like

You ready for this?

You ready to be cleansed?

Of course, I think it's a good time to do it

Because we're going to start a new year.

Good point.

(Mayan Chanting)

My favorite part was when he was beating me with the leaf

At first I found it kind of awkward

But strangely at the end

I think Adriana used the same word

Light.

I feel really light right now

So whatever he did

I hope it will have some cleansing effect

On me for the rest of my life.

It's very humid today

So we're going to check out this pool.

Adriana is reporting that it is not just cold

But it is ice cold

Are you kidding or are you serious

I'm not kidding

You have to feel it

It's not ice cold

That's like New Jersey cold

That's ice cold

It's not Greenland

It is New Jersey

I'm from Mexico

And we're in the Yucatan

So.. New Jersey has nothing to do with it..

Here's the situation

Adriana and I have been invited

By the caretaker of this place Santiago

To celebrate the first birthday of his great-granddaughter

So we're heading to town to buy a gift

We're not going to film that.

We don't want to film all day, every day here

We're going to take a little pause and come back

And check this party out

I didn't mean to do that

Alright you guys didn't miss to much

Pretty much all Adriana and I did the last couple of hours was lie around

On hammocks, reading books.

And we took a shower.

Little drizzle right now

We are about to head over to the town

To attend a 1 year olds birthday party

We've bought some gifts

And we also are ready with some flashlights

Oww my eye baby

It's not in your eye

It's not even close to your eye

It's here.

This is in your eye.. Oww

Last time I vlogged like this was when we were in Hawaii

Biking back from a volcano

Which was a great vlog

But it's been a while

So I have to get use to this whole flashlight system

We are very concerned about stepping on poop in the darkness

That is our biggest fear right now

I think in a small town

The weddings are always in the basketball court

And..they invite everybody

Everybody can come.

We are at the caretakers house

About to go to a birthday party

We're sitting waiting for this party to begin

Yay

But so far we are loving the hospit..

Hospitality

I'm thinking in Spanish now

So i'm forgetting English words

Hospitalidad

Hospitalidad

They need to implement this into U.S kids parties immediately

That was pretty amazing

After hanging out at that birthday party and experiencing some amazing Mayan hospitality

And eating a ton of candy

We're back at the Palapa

And they're actually going to be delivering us dinner

This is something you can order here

And we're going to be showing you what its like

This is chicken with rice

And pasta

And vegetables

I think they made it

Not in a stove

But with I don't know how you call it

An old oven

With wood

And fire

Because you can feel this flavor

On the soup.

A smokey flavor?

A smokey flavor, exactly.

Now the hard part guys

What is it going to be like

To actually sleep in a hammock

I'm ready to bed

I don't want to be filmed

I'll probably put that on the video

I've read that lieing down diagonally

Is the best way to sleep

In a hammock

So i'm going to be testing out this theory

I'm going to let you know

How my night goes..

I'll be super honest

If I found this comfortable or not

And the vlog is not ending by the way

We have a really cool activity for tomorrow morning

Okay..

I hope I don't fall off

Alright..

I'm kind of diagonal right now

We haven't had the busiest day ever

We just kind of lied around a lot

But..

I think I'm going to fall asleep

Sooner than later

Ladies and Gentleman.. have a good night

I actually slept better than I thought I would

The trick with the hammock

Is finding a position

That you manage to feel comfortable in

And then try and maintain that position.

I actually slept okay

Would I do it again.

Maybe..but it takes some getting used to.

An absolutely beautiful day

I told you guys last night that we were going to be doing one more..

Adventure

We're going to be heading to three really cool cenotes

That are pretty famous around here

And our form of transportation

Is going to be quite unique

This is Santiago.. Here is our guide for today

He invited us over his house yesterday

And he's going to take us to the cenotes

This is one of his jobs

He also caretakes the property that you just saw

He's the guy to look for

This horse here..

Is going to be leading us on this

To the cenotes

On this old railway line

It kind of feels more like we're in a tuk tuk in Thailand

Yeah..

We've made it to stop number one

And there's going to be two different cenotes here

What I like best about this

Is that you literally cannot

Reach these two spots

Unless you have a local take you

On a horse drawn cart

That is the part of the adventure itself

This is where the Mayans had ceremonies

First cenote, Cenote Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz

We are certainly going into nature now guys.

The first cenote

One, two , three

This one we literally just wanted to jump in

To kind of help us wake up

We only had one cup of coffee today

This is the scenic way out?

WOW

This might be the most unique cenote I've ever seen

He said it's 24 meters deep here

80 meters deep there

And this little rope to hold onto

If you're not a good swimmer

We're still debating if we want to jump in

Are you jumping in?

No.. I'm not

You are.

I'm creating a new activity called cenote walking

Yeah..

Two down one to go

Santiago told us that this railroad line that we're on

Is two hundred years old

People used to actually take these kinds of horses

To get between different cities

Including Merida.

Last stop on the cenote tour

For the first time ever

I'm going to attempt to fly my drone

Into a cenote

We've got the best one for last

Alright members of the Barrio

If you want to stay right here at Sac Nicte

And have the same experience

That Adriana and I just had

I'm going to put a link down below

In the description

And you can live like a Mayan

For a day

Or longer.

Santiago and all the people here have

Been so accomodating

I can not recommend this place anymore

If you're looking for a really unique experience

If you're new to this channel

I want to make sure that you're subscribed

Leave me a comment

Tell me what you thought about this video.

Thank you so much for watching

10 Products That Saved Companies From Bankruptcy! - Duration: 11:57.

- La, la, la.

Oh, hey, how's it going?

Just finished watching some Netflix.

I think now I'll check some text messages on my iPhone

after I play some Nintendo Switch.

Except that none of those companies would exist today

if it wasn't for one specific product

that saved them and companies just like them.

Here are 10 products that saved companies from bankruptcy.

Number 10 are universal bricks.

Founded on August 10, 1932,

LEGO was the brainchild of Ole Kirk Christiansen,

who ran a carpentry business in Denmark.

When the prospect of building blocks

made of plastic came up, Christiansen wanted

a universal system where all the blocks in each set

could interact with blocks from other sets.

Nearly 71 years later after that,

the company had grown to an unfathomable size

but was on the verge go bankruptcy.

Then, a new management team decided

to bring things back to the brick.

Less diversity in manufactured LEGOs

and more focus on the system of play

that the late Christiansen had originally wanted.

Instead of making elaborate pieces that only fit

in one set, each piece needed to connect universally.

The move saved the company and in 2015,

made them the largest toy company in the world by revenue.

Also spawned about a hundred different LEGO movies.

When's that stuff gonna end, man?

Number nine are licensed products, Polaroid.

With all the advances in smartphone and digital photography,

the demand for instant film has been fairly limited.

But, Polaroid, the instant camera company

founded by scientist and inventor Edwin Land

is still kicking after 80 years

thanks to the genius of CEO Scott Hardy.

He uses the brand name's pull to sell TVs,

cell phones, tablets, cameras,

and other innovative and dynamic products.

The company's decline originally began back in 1977

after the harsh failure of a foray into videography

with an instant home movie camera called Polavision.

Since then, Polaroid has had bankruptcies

in 2001 and 2009 and played musical chairs

with six different CEOs from 2005 to 2009.

Now, with Hardy's licensing strategy,

Polaroid lives free of expensive product creation

and instead carefully selects cool new products

to put its name on.

Great idea as long as it doesn't go too far.

I don't want to start seeing Polaroid energy drinks.

Ha, "Snaps you back into mental awareness."

Wait a second, that's kind of brilliant.

Number eight is the Model T, Ford Motor Company.

On October 1, 1908, the Ford Model T

became the first mass produced car

with interchangeable parts to be sold to Americans.

The Ford Motor Company modestly priced the car

and put steering wheels in the hands

of 16.5 million Americans.

The move to mass production with the Model T

rather than competing with luxury vehicle companies

of the era, brought Ford out of obscurity

and made it a household brand.

Plus, it had the historical significance

in changing the American industrial landscape.

It's considered to be the most influential car

of the 20th century for its part in ushering in

new innovation to the automotive industry

and putting so many Americans into jobs assembling them.

Without this breakthrough into the mainstream market,

it's likely Ford wouldn't be around today.

I'm just really glad that we have cooler names

for cars nowadays as opposed to Model T.

"Yeah, Model A to S failed, T worked.

"Let's call it that."

Number seven is tamper-proof containers, Tylenol.

Since 1955, Tylenol has been a go-to fever and pain reducer.

But, in 1982, several people taking the drug

became poisoned, seven of them lost their lives.

One of which, tragically, was a 12-year-old girl.

It turns out some sicko was contaminating

the product with cyanide.

The acetaminophen brand was losing money

as consumers became worried about their safety.

Tylenol stock dropped seven percent and, overall,

they wound up losing over one hundred million dollars.

However, instead of shying away from the attack

on his company, then-CEO of Tylenol, James E. Burke

took ownership, recalling any pills made

all the way through 1982 and pushed his company

to make tamper-proof containers

that we still use today.

Those containers not only helped bring trust

back to the brand, but got Burke a Medal of Freedom in 2000.

Brilliant invention.

However, what's with the Medal of Freedom?

I mean, the guy gets a medal for making a plastic cup

that you have to push on to get the pills out of.

It's so hard.

Sorry.

Number six are boneless options, KFC.

KFC established its first franchise restaurant

on September 24, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Being in the business since the days

of the Great Depression, Colonel Harlan Sanders

always knew what his customers wanted

and strived to give it to them.

However, times change and in 2015,

the company found itself slipping

to the second most popular fast food chicken provider

just behind Chick-Fil-A.

KFC started losing a lot of money until the creation

of new promotional materials and menu items

targeted at millennials who seemed to prefer snacking

on boneless options over the traditional bone-in chicken.

(clucks)

The most successful of those new items

was the Georgia Gold chicken options

and the return of the snacky Chicken Littles.

In the last 10 quarters, KFC has seen in increase

in same store sales and transactions.

Without that product, they may have just

continued slipping and slipping until eventually

they just fell off the planet.

Mm, I am now starving.

Okay, let's hurry this video up.

Number five is the K-Car, Chrysler.

In the late 1970s, Chrysler, a staple

in American car manufacturing was seeing losses

in the millions due to recalls of popular models

and a dip in the company's popularity.

It soon found itself on the brink of bankruptcy.

Then, a need for more compact affordable cars came to be.

And the company shifted its marketing and promotion focus.

In 1980, the first K-Cars became available,

the Plymouth Reliant and the Dodge Aries,

both of which were incredibly successful cars.

Not only because they were widely sold in large numbers

but because their design offered more customizable options

that simply weren't available in previous models.

Their prices could range from 7,000 to over $23,000.

And in October of 1980, Chrysler reported a profit

of 10 million dollars,

their first actual profit in over two years.

I had a Chrysler 300 for years.

Big, heavy, pig but terrible in the snow.

Hmm, Canada.

Number four is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney.

Walt Disney and his employees were deep

into the creation of their very first feature-length

animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,

when they ran out of funds and neared bankruptcy.

The film was set to either make or break the company

that had just poured every bit of itself

into the project over three years.

Disney secured a bank loan in order

to keep paying his employees.

When Snow White premiered on December 21, 1937,

it was praised by both viewers and critics

and managed to rake in eight million dollars

world-wide at the box office.

Walt Disney also took home an Academy Honorary Award

at the Oscars that year for significant screen innovation

and pioneering the motion picture cartoon.

That's a long title.

That's right, one movie completely saved Disney

and the company lived happily every after.

Which is fantastic because I don't know

what I ever would've did without The Lion King.

That was my whole childhood.

Number three is the NES, Nintendo.

With the launch of the Nintendo Entertainment System

on October 18, 1985, Nintendo didn't just save

themselves, they saved the entire console gaming industry.

Prior to the NES, console games had gained

a bad reputation for their marketing and delivery,

with box art displaying fantastical

and downright false representations of the in-game graphics.

Games also weren't developed uniformly

across different consoles,

with different versions of the same game

varying widely due to the constraints of each machine.

Game revenues ended up dropping 97% in just two years.

Nintendo aimed to solve this issue

by marketing the NES as an entertainment system

rather than a console and positioning it

as the one console you need for all the great games.

In addition to, of course, making box art

a lot more honest.

Think about it, what would you have done

without Mario and Zelda?

All that time would've been spent outside.

(cringes) Ew.

Number two is original content, Netflix.

Before Netflix became an online movie

and series-streaming service,

they were offering home delivered DVD rentals

through the mail.

In 2010, when consumer interest started swaying

towards streaming movies on-demand,

Netflix found itself with no bargaining chips

in negotiations with studios who had digital video rights.

Despite being unable to catch a break

when acquiring movie streaming deals

and a ludicrous spending increase of 218% in 2011,

Netflix held strong and doubled down

on their streaming service.

They started creating their own video content

to rival the studios and struck gold

in making House of Cards and reviving the popular comedy

Arrested Development for season four.

In their success, they caused the entire industry

to shift towards online streaming

and creating original content.

Personally, I'm very thankful for all these original shows.

I mean without binge watching,

what other excuse would I use to not go out

and see my friends?

And number one is the iPod, Apple.

Just 20 years ago in 1997,

after a 150 million dollar investment from Microsoft,

Apple, under the direction of CEO Steve Jobs,

began a slow and risky climb back into relevance.

One of their bigger risks came with the unveiling

of the G4 Cube, a smaller version

of the regular desktop computers which ultimately failed.

After owning the loss, Jobs' next innovation

would set them apart from the competition

and it also changed the music industry forever.

When the the five gigabyte iPod

was first introduced on October 23, 2001,

its small portable size and simplistic interface

blew earlier models of MP3 players out of the water.

With the iPod, Apple was able to start producing

hit after hit with newer and more advanced versions of it

and other portable technologies like the iPhone and iPad.

As it turns out, thinking different

has never been so lucrative.

So, that was 10 products that saved companies

from bankruptcy.

If you guys enjoyed this, remember to give it

a big thumbs up.

Wrought iron hanger ,for clothes, wall - Duration: 9:03.

Everyone will privet.Segodnya make forged hanger

With his own hands.

Hanger is for clothes ,on the wall.

Some elements will be performed using

hot forging.

Previously, I did banquette , Hot forging, and now

We need to make a hanger, with the same texture as in

banquette.

will be for manufacturing applied strip 20 mm

and a rod 12 mm.

I have already marked out, where will the texture is applied, the sides

will go with the texture of the strip, and below here will hooks,

Usually, because the rod will currency, and on the side of

two Kalach, takzhes texture.

For applying texture use stamp, I have it already,

ready, under the anvil.

The cut machine diamonds, sharp thrust

go bars and strip, and guides do not give them

lose, and punched . From the edge of not doing

Because there will be engraved crow's feet, and if there

It will invoice, screwing, will deform

bars, creates an edge rigidity.

Now Heat the rod and band and I will punch

tips and texture .Such

way we break through all the bands and rods, after

broken texture, I do on the edge of the invoices, cutting

Circle border to clearly identify where it ends

texture. On

band so doing, and also on the rod, a circle, cutting

Circle. Now

in the cochlea is twisted rods and I do elements .Turn

at

cochlea elements spinning necessary smoothly, without jerks

Because where cuts, It can be cracked. therefore

twirl

quietly, without sharp movements smoothly stretch the

and twists, and you get with a texture element.

Brand Positioning - Duration: 2:09.

Hi entrepreneurs! The other day Ana Laura asked me to talk about

Brand positioning through the "el Vlog del Empdendedor" facebook page.

So you can understand how important brand positioning is

for a brand... it can be the difference between " I need a cellphone" and...

"I need the new iPhone X, and I'd sell my entire family to get it"

Jus to clarify. That last crazy and irrational behaviour is what brands

are looking for when it comes to positioning. So I'm going to show you

the different ways of positioning a brand, the same way we position ourselves

to seduce.

By its own thecnical characteristics.

In that case, if you're more casual or classy. By its beneffits like

"handsome", "stilysh", "funny", "wealthy",... Depending on competition.

meaning if its a leader brand or a "white label". By its quality or pricing. That is, if it

conveys the image of exclusivity or luxury, or if it is more common.

Based on consumer experience. What do they say about you: "irresponsible", "womanizer",...

and finally, by consumer's life style.

If it is a person that lives in luxury, or if it's a regular lifestyle kind of person.

Well Ana Laura, I hope that I've helped you with this vlog.

And so to all of you entrepreneurs. And I don't want to say goodbye before mentioning

the Spotify's playlist I've created... so give it some love.

And you may use it to seduce as well. And as always, if you have any doubts, questions

or suggestions you may wrote it in the comment section below, or write me an

email My name is Adrià Muñoz, and this is

el Vlog del Emprendedor.

WE SPENT THE NIGHT IN A MAYAN VILLAGE IN MEXICO ! 😲 - Duration: 11:59.

What is going on members of the Barrio?

It's Jon and I am coming to you from Chunkanan about 1 hour from Merida

And today i'm going to show you perhaps the most unique accomodations

That I have ever booked

In my life

We are at Sac Nicte

Which is a spot that allows you to have Mayan Palapas

And spend the night right next to a Mayan Village

We're going to be sleeping in hammocks

Enough talking.. why don't I just show you guys around?

What's behind door number 1?

This is our sleeping area

I would call it the bedroom

Except their are no beds

We are going to be sleeping in these hammocks

This is completely Mayan style

Exactly how the locals would sleep.

And here's the other one.

Have a nice screened view of the backyard here.

We're basically in the middle of nowhere

Which is exactly what we wanted

To escape the daily grind a bit

Their is no wifi here

Which is a blessing I think?

The bathroom has most modern things that you would want.

Electricity

It does have hot water

A shower

The tub is pretty nice

Hi mom

Now we are approaching the kitchen

And Adriana is already testing out

One of the many hammocks here

Yes.

Como estas?

Muy bien.

And if you look up

Every single little place here

Has a palapa

This is a Mayan roof

Made with palm leaves

Not a real parrot

We also have a pool.

So while this is off the beaten path

There are plenty of little luxuries

On the property

Now I've got a real treat for you guys

As part of the stay here

You can organize this

We actually have a Mayan Shaman

Who is going to be showing us a cleansing ceremony

I've never had anything like this done to me

Or really seen anything like this

So let's find out what it's like

You ready for this?

You ready to be cleansed?

Of course, I think it's a good time to do it

Because we're going to start a new year.

Good point.

(Mayan Chanting)

My favorite part was when he was beating me with the leaf

At first I found it kind of awkward

But strangely at the end

I think Adriana used the same word

Light.

I feel really light right now

So whatever he did

I hope it will have some cleansing effect

On me for the rest of my life.

It's very humid today

So we're going to check out this pool.

Adriana is reporting that it is not just cold

But it is ice cold

Are you kidding or are you serious

I'm not kidding

You have to feel it

It's not ice cold

That's like New Jersey cold

That's ice cold

It's not Greenland

It is New Jersey

I'm from Mexico

And we're in the Yucatan

So.. New Jersey has nothing to do with it..

Here's the situation

Adriana and I have been invited

By the caretaker of this place Santiago

To celebrate the first birthday of his great-granddaughter

So we're heading to town to buy a gift

We're not going to film that.

We don't want to film all day, every day here

We're going to take a little pause and come back

And check this party out

I didn't mean to do that

Alright you guys didn't miss to much

Pretty much all Adriana and I did the last couple of hours was lie around

On hammocks, reading books.

And we took a shower.

Little drizzle right now

We are about to head over to the town

To attend a 1 year olds birthday party

We've bought some gifts

And we also are ready with some flashlights

Oww my eye baby

It's not in your eye

It's not even close to your eye

It's here.

This is in your eye.. Oww

Last time I vlogged like this was when we were in Hawaii

Biking back from a volcano

Which was a great vlog

But it's been a while

So I have to get use to this whole flashlight system

We are very concerned about stepping on poop in the darkness

That is our biggest fear right now

I think in a small town

The weddings are always in the basketball court

And..they invite everybody

Everybody can come.

We are at the caretakers house

About to go to a birthday party

We're sitting waiting for this party to begin

Yay

But so far we are loving the hospit..

Hospitality

I'm thinking in Spanish now

So i'm forgetting English words

Hospitalidad

Hospitalidad

They need to implement this into U.S kids parties immediately

That was pretty amazing

After hanging out at that birthday party and experiencing some amazing Mayan hospitality

And eating a ton of candy

We're back at the Palapa

And they're actually going to be delivering us dinner

This is something you can order here

And we're going to be showing you what its like

This is chicken with rice

And pasta

And vegetables

I think they made it

Not in a stove

But with I don't know how you call it

An old oven

With wood

And fire

Because you can feel this flavor

On the soup.

A smokey flavor?

A smokey flavor, exactly.

Now the hard part guys

What is it going to be like

To actually sleep in a hammock

I'm ready to bed

I don't want to be filmed

I'll probably put that on the video

I've read that lieing down diagonally

Is the best way to sleep

In a hammock

So i'm going to be testing out this theory

I'm going to let you know

How my night goes..

I'll be super honest

If I found this comfortable or not

And the vlog is not ending by the way

We have a really cool activity for tomorrow morning

Okay..

I hope I don't fall off

Alright..

I'm kind of diagonal right now

We haven't had the busiest day ever

We just kind of lied around a lot

But..

I think I'm going to fall asleep

Sooner than later

Ladies and Gentleman.. have a good night

I actually slept better than I thought I would

The trick with the hammock

Is finding a position

That you manage to feel comfortable in

And then try and maintain that position.

I actually slept okay

Would I do it again.

Maybe..but it takes some getting used to.

An absolutely beautiful day

I told you guys last night that we were going to be doing one more..

Adventure

We're going to be heading to three really cool cenotes

That are pretty famous around here

And our form of transportation

Is going to be quite unique

This is Santiago.. Here is our guide for today

He invited us over his house yesterday

And he's going to take us to the cenotes

This is one of his jobs

He also caretakes the property that you just saw

He's the guy to look for

This horse here..

Is going to be leading us on this

To the cenotes

On this old railway line

It kind of feels more like we're in a tuk tuk in Thailand

Yeah..

We've made it to stop number one

And there's going to be two different cenotes here

What I like best about this

Is that you literally cannot

Reach these two spots

Unless you have a local take you

On a horse drawn cart

That is the part of the adventure itself

This is where the Mayans had ceremonies

First cenote, Cenote Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz

We are certainly going into nature now guys.

The first cenote

One, two , three

This one we literally just wanted to jump in

To kind of help us wake up

We only had one cup of coffee today

This is the scenic way out?

WOW

This might be the most unique cenote I've ever seen

He said it's 24 meters deep here

80 meters deep there

And this little rope to hold onto

If you're not a good swimmer

We're still debating if we want to jump in

Are you jumping in?

No.. I'm not

You are.

I'm creating a new activity called cenote walking

Yeah..

Two down one to go

Santiago told us that this railroad line that we're on

Is two hundred years old

People used to actually take these kinds of horses

To get between different cities

Including Merida.

Last stop on the cenote tour

For the first time ever

I'm going to attempt to fly my drone

Into a cenote

We've got the best one for last

Alright members of the Barrio

If you want to stay right here at Sac Nicte

And have the same experience

That Adriana and I just had

I'm going to put a link down below

In the description

And you can live like a Mayan

For a day

Or longer.

Santiago and all the people here have

Been so accomodating

I can not recommend this place anymore

If you're looking for a really unique experience

If you're new to this channel

I want to make sure that you're subscribed

The farm is just a bit oh

If you guys think this is fun wait until you see the rest of the patch

Oh, that's right bow to the Wow. That's a whole lot of pumpkin. Let's go

For most ready now for miles shadow let's make it a goofy smile

Think I need some Rollie power you don't have to ask me twice

I'm pretty proud of him I added a few spooky touches to farmer Dale scarecrow here

I'm Charlie not spooky at all. How would it do hmm? Well not spooky no

I call it totally Halloween silly why do you want a scary scarecrow anyway as the?

Official pumpkin patch you should call them silly

Charlie

I

Think let go you have your caller with you in the pumpkin patch, do you see it anywhere?

You love that caller, I know hey, maybe since you were racing all around the pumpkin patch you lost it there

It's pretty cool, huh yeah, but it says a little darker here than I thought it would be

It's okay I see oh this way

Who knew a pumpkin patch would have so many spooky Nick

Yep those are just a barrel of laughs

You know what how about you go look in there, and I go look somewhere less mazie and more

well-lit

No collar, but hey we found a way in the maze this time hi Paul

Thanks, Rollie

Wait Rollie we didn't find out where the maze really we're only powered our way out

I'm pretty sure we made our way out of the maze somewhere around here

Hey there fellas hey Charlie. He needs us

Get back you cookie monster wait a minute you see the spooky monster. That's one of the silly scarecrows and

This is mine that explains why I've suddenly found a really cool collar on the ground by the maze after you left, sorry

I didn't realize it was yours, right

This scarecrow is silly well, then as the official unofficial CRO of this pumpkin patch

I've decided it's now my duty to up the silly factor

Know

Be patient guys

Great

I'm gonna put them outside for people to see

I don't know. I was only looking up because you were looking up

Yes, and boy do I like to slide down on Hills right after the very first snowfall?

Oh hang it onto the sides of my slab while wearing my no gloves

I wish I can find that first mouth like a wonderful Bob

Alright, whole bunch of snowflakes like when the stars of the park and the place gets old snowy Roley

That's a great idea and what oh, that's a good one

Analyzing environmental conditions to determine appropriate doggy threats up

Stay warm puppies who Artspace is a little chilly but bob made art with a built-in face warmer, ooh

That is nice keep your eyes on the skies Roley

Hey, what's up double pups hello there single squirrel even think about barring any nuts

We could help you if you want, I'm listening double dog sorry

Now we can get back to lying around again. Oh, hey if you see anything

I never realized how big the sky is until I was watching for a snowflake to fall out of it well

We're just gonna have to keep looking up until we see

Hello no that's my name bunny bunny knock knock

And we're looking for snow so we can say there it is oh no

I was supposed to find a home before winter got here, but I was too busy thinking up ways to be funny

This is the perfect place to dig out a home for a bunny named foot

Custom built just for me. Yeah, could you watch for snowflakes while we dig it?

Come on Roley we have to keep looking for that snowflake so Bob can go whoosh whoosh

Have you seen any snowflakes around here? No?

And I hope I don't that'd mean it's winter and I'm supposed to fly south with the other birds before it gets wintry and cold

This is where I last saw my friends, but they're not here and neither was that first snowflake

They're just feathers Roley

Hey, keep it down out there some of us are trying to sleep

Who's that keep talking us that depends were you the loud ones going blah blah blah?

How can they not know winter is on the way? That's why I'm down here getting ready to start hibernating getting laid hi everyone, huh?

hibernating means

If you wanted to sing I'd probably listen

A soft place and all the lights out. I think we can get you on three

Hey there doggie Tiggers, I haven't seen that first snowflake yet, but I'm

Did you find that purse snowflake of winter yet no for right now

We're looking for the perfect rock that will fit perfect a mouthful of these should be just right

Here we go a bedtime snack. Oh it might be nice to hear that lullaby again. I thought it was kind of pretty

One hibernating Hedgehog is it a snowflake the first one winter now, let's find off and get on the tail Bob. We found it

Is that

It's a snowflake oh

and another

snowflake

Winter is here. Oh keep on falling snow because I'm ready to sled hey

Who's ready to sleep with me?

You

Yeah, you sure monster. I don't want to be a shark monster. What for tempting

We're surfers, and we need you to be the shark monster

Seeing you too Bob

Ruff - you guys - I would love to feel that sand on my toes someday

Hope you guys find something fun to do while I'm not here

You

Hear will Bob sit just barely that before really is noisy you and I are going on a mission

Take some dog biscuits with us for the airplane around good thing Bob invented these collars for us to put stuff in

We're on our way to Hawaii I

Hope whoever's fly in this plane doesn't make it do loop-de-loops because that hurts my tongue. Oh Frank

I was talking about that thing around your neck. It's a lay hand so this

Probably, I hope I don't get sunburned cuz it hurts

And it's exactly what I need these crabs are

We need something big but flies like a big fly bigger and fly, so let's get to work

We

Came here to get Sam for bob's toes. I changed everything that's crawling on the beach

We're both floating

Yeah, we port Lakers are gonna ride the NEX way and whoever searched the best wins a trophy

You two doggies won the surfing contest first place

It's gonna be so happy when he sees all the Sanford's toes we should celebrate by eating those dog biscuits

I put in our collars. Yeah, all we have to do

Roli wait we have all the shit we need but not to Bob Quito

He there were no little puppies around to almost run me over or wake me up from my nap

Or beg me to be a shark monster until I finally said okay

I've been looking forward to seeing you all day

Whoa, would you two get into Oh?

Actually, it feels really good like what the beach must feel like in Hawaii

How was your flight a little bumpy and landing how

I wish I could be with you so I invented this to do the kinds of things I do if I was here

hi bingo, hi Roley I

call him arf which stands for Auto doggy robotic friend arf is here to do it all I

Even programmed him to clean up any mess that you make before I get home from work

No more mad

Hmm he looks friendly

Wanna meet ARF maybe later, I'm trying to get this one spot on the back of my neck really clean, which means

Make of that

Yeah, make a mess so ah gonna have fun. Cleaning it up wait a minute you want us to mess this place up

The Florida

Okay Wow if Bob came home from work and saw a mess like this

Also programmed after bag I don't think we have another service. Yeah, I either need a longer leg

Excuse

Because Bob only programmed our to clean up after bingo and Roley not to clean up after his E&R

So I guess the two of us are gonna have to clean this place ourselves

puppy dogs die

It's not gonna be fun Roley it's going to be work

Just gotta wash these towels and our job is done. We're gonna do all their washing

Quick question how much soap did you put in that washing machine?

Like my clothes right after they come out of the washing machine, yes my new invention really worked, huh?
