This LITTLE KID DIDN'T STAND a CHANCE in Clash Royale! - Duration: 10:01.

This LITTLE KID DIDN'T STAND a CHANCE in Clash Royale!

Oh, we grabbed look at this setup. We got here. There is no way he is gonna defend this unless he has a rocket

Hey good, so why the hell are you wearing the same exact shirt that you wore yesterday you'll weirdo for your information

I'm leaving town this weekend, and I gotta prep videos for daily upload so uh yeah

That's why but that is completely besides the point because in today's video. We are going to be attempting to win the sapis vs.

Hunter challenge this is my first time entering this don't know what it's even about but I'm confident

We're the best player in the game. We're gonna get all the way to 12 wins without a single loss

You are going down mister. Oh three angel

I'm gonna beat you so badly that you get kicked from your own clan is he gonna put anything down or not

I don't I don't understand a royal giant in the very bag screw this guy he just waited like

20 seconds and when a troop down and he goes with that also I have no idea how to use that zappy scarred

I've never touched it once in my life. I just sent a dart coming in a poison spell. I'm an idiot

Well, I found on that tower that tower is about to go down if I can get you know what I should probably wait for

The mini pack I feel like that's gonna be the best way to stop that

Also, his eye spirits suck there

Goes mini P doing some work

and hopefully he can go up in there and

Slap that ice wizard get over here over this boom one more one more one were it

Ten out of ten poison spell I don't know what this guy is

Attempting to do come on zappy show us how it's done against the Royal Giant. Oh my god that thing just got obliterated

What are these things overpowered, or is this guy just like extra bad look at them go dude?

Holy crap they're just oh my god

They're marking everything nothing stands a chance against these bad boys come on get to that tower

Oh, I told you guys first battle down easy wing GG

Let's hop into another I'm honestly not confident in my draft choices royal giant x appease the let's get it

I also do have fire spirits those may be interesting mister. That's three musketeers screw those things

I got those out of there in record timing now here the sapis are cleaning those things up

Oh, let's get it and as far as this right side goes

We just even ice calm that easy counter, and we got some good damage off. I'm telling you no one can beat us

We're just we're too good this man. Just couldn't go home down when he was down on elixir. Let's totally punish him for that

Hopefully the Royal Giant is ready in time. I'd like to see him defend this like he put it going down

Let me tell you this when he didn't have you like so that was totally not a smart idea also

I do have the minion word so I'm hoping I can clean this go him up very easily

That right tower is totally done like 100%. He's still putting he lakester down over there now

Hopefully this guy does not have arrows

He does have an ice spear but screw that we're gonna block that with that all over just all her minions died

Okay, switching it up to the other Lane. This fool is doing another goal and push keep in mind. He is down on elixir

I don't know why he's putting golems down, but it does not seem too smart also

He has three musketeers, so I'm for sure gonna hold off on this fireball

I'm not trying to get caught off guard

Because that is just it's it's gonna end ugly and I'm not trying to deal with that. There's the three musketeers

I was worried about so it's fireball all of that put an ice golem down right there

Oh, we put some fire spirits down as well as far as this guy goes

I don't quite know what's gonna be a good counter for them. I'm gonna put some zap ease down right there

I don't know if that's good or bad seems kind of like a fail now

We're gonna fight about all of that out of there. You got stop it. Please stop it

Please though which is doing some work, which is not good for us

But look at this this man is still just he is spamming everything he has right now

It is not working out for him. We have a push on this right side. I'm pretty confident

We won at this point we may even get two towers destroyed. Let's see come on oh

So close oh, ho god

This is gonna be sick

So we have the hunter in the bag with a mortar on the tower so oh crap look at this setup

We got here

There is no way he is gonna defend this unless he has a rocket or poison spell but for the most part

I'm pretty confident. We got this in the bag, and holy crap we got to dip up them

Yeah, we got the peashooter with that as well

This is honestly incredible this Hunter is so overpowered with the mortar

I got the whole setup going right now this poor dude. Holy crap

This is some next-level tactics right here guys and let's get her going again

So we got the hunter down with the mortar and the princess let me get that cannon ready as well

Just look at the perfect setup

I don't even care that this guy has a hut because I know for a fact his hut is about to get wrecked in like

Point two seconds screw those appease I'm just gonna. Oh we got the pea shooter again with arrows

I am such a beast at clash Royale

No, one is better than me and just look at this yes a goblin getting down

But the mortar is still just blasting away this deck is actually really good and really fun

Okay, so I was gonna go for the same exact setup when he put a royal giant on this time

Let's get a prince down to help out with that

Hopefully gets his charge off perfect, and now we have a decent counter push

I don't really have enough elixir for any other troops

So I think we're just gonna chill for now actually you know what let's send a balloon in I have that hunter

He's doing Splash Damage. I am gonna get some arrows ready for that goblin gang

Oh, no goblin gang after all there is gonna be a dark goblin though coming in right now. It'll look at that

I know that dude was coming and I blasted him out of there

And we still aren't done yet peep this right here boys. We are gonna have the mortars shoot onto the tower now

Oh it may take out the pea shooter

No

The mortar just said screw you barbarians and it went on to the tower so 10 seconds left in this battle

Another win for the clickbait god. I told you we're just two pro at this game. No one is gonna stop us today

This is definitely gonna be my toughest matchup yet. I'm not a fan of the cards

I was given, but I'm gonna have to make it work. Don't know if we're gonna win, but we're trying man

We're gonna get a strike over this dinner to do. Oh wait. Why did you you miss that goblin you idiot?

Oh my god boy. Oh, no oh

Man, we are dog. I'm just all so pissed off right now. This is like the worst deck

I could have ever made for myself

This guy is not putting any troops down it took them so long to get that musketeer down this can be it

Let's get a fire ball right there screw all that stuff next up. Let's get some zappy Xin well

I don't even know what this guy is gonna put down we got this we got this screw your minor

It's not gonna get any hits off you piece of

Look at that

We are on this guy's tower with the sapis blasting away. That is

Exactly what we needed to get back in this all hole boys this can be it this can be it right here

Can we actually defend for once or are we gonna lose?

We cannot let them take us out sapis on that be straight there Pekka is approaching the tower

We do have the bowler, but unfortunately he is just not making any connections whatsoever

This is that we are gonna win take in the W come on come on

He has a minor on our tower, and he has a poison spell

Please please please we can do it right here fireball fireball fireball, please baller. No way we're actually gonna come back from this

Yes, oh god. No. We have poor fairies on the tower who the hell. Are you Gio's pizza? I don't order no pizza

What are you talking about good stuff for him but look at that we have the miner over there. Please get some hits off

Oh wow that worked out really good. Actually that was pretty incredible

Oh, yes get it with the log - oh yeah, that was one good. Push. Oh

Another went down for your boy. Okay? I'm gonna be honest for you guys

We've been playing for quite some time now, so I'm gonna do one final match for this video keep in mind

We're 5 - no so if I can finish this video going 6

You know awesome, but I'm not trying to get a loss here. We're playing really well today

Hopefully this video is entertaining as of now surprise

Goblin barrel, what do you got planned for that buddy? Oh hoo mega minion too bad for you look at that. Oh wait

Why did I just put those down against an executioner probably not my best thought but it worked out decent

I thought it was just gonna slice through all three of them at once

Oh, ho boys. This is where the fun is going to begin we have the golem down right there

This guy does not have much elixir. He keeps like putting stuff down

He just wasted a mega minion so uh this dude is probably screwed right about now

I don't know how he's gonna stop this goblin marrow

Oh executioner, but now we can't stop the golem, so I'm glad this worked out pretty well for him

I do have the log. It's not really needed right now

If you look up top a lot of his troops are stacking up, so I'm expecting a giant

There's the giant and yeah this should be good. Let's get a log down rate there screw all of that

This guy does have his app which we were expecting but luckily

This app wasn't too big of a deal more stuff inbound not a big deal though this time

We're just gonna put an inferno on the right that way the executioner won't target it. We have that log down

Let's get these appease this appease are gonna come in so clutch right here and freeze the giant archers should help out as well

And now let's send in a final goblin barrel

It really won't do anything

But it's still nice to try and get any extra damage off so this right here

Like I said was the final battle of the video and even though I was really really cocky in the very beginning

I think we played

decent like I was saying no one was gonna beat me and I was the best player ever and part of that was right because

We are still undefeated, which is just an amazing feeling so guys this has pretty clips

Hopefully you enjoyed today's video and peace out

'Time Traveler' to Run for President and Reveal the Technology - Duration: 4:31.

Time Traveler to Run for President and Reveal the Technology

BY Paul Seaburn

Is it too early to announce plans to run for president in 2020 (unless youre the incumbent)?

If the candidate claimed to be a time traveler, would you be worried that he already knows

whats going to happen between now and then and is positioning himself to save (or take

over) the country?

That alleged time traveler is Andrew Basiago and he not only is running for president (again)

but has promised to reveal details about the governments alleged Project Pegasus, which

he claims developed a time machine during the Cold War that he himself rode in back

to Lincolns Gettysburg Address and the Ford Theater the night of his assassination

and he has a photograph to prove it.

Shouldnt he go back and get some compromising photographs of his opponent?

Unfortunately, Basiago no longer has access to the time machine.

Perhaps thats why his campaign platform includes exposing Project Pegasus for what

he says it was a successful project that required a huge amount of taxpayer money but

gave no return because the government decided it was too dangerous and shut it down.

Now THATS how to develop a conspiracy theory without resorting to pizza.

Andrew Basiago

No pizza but nonetheless plenty of politicians.

Basiago claims that the CIA used the time machine to identify future presidential candidates

and prepare them for their future occupation.

He says those candidates included both Bushes, Barack Obama and Donald Trump.

Surprisingly, for someone running himself, he doesnt mention whether the CIA visited

him as a child.

That may be because he himself was a child when he traveled in time while his father

worked for Project Pegasus.

Basiago says that, in addition to visiting the times of Lincoln (and bumping into himself

on a different trip), he traveled back a million years, visited the future (2045) and went

to Mars (teleported, not time traveled) where he saw living beings.

Basiago says that kid in the the ill-fitting shoes is him at the Gettysburg Address

Youre probably saying to yourself, He sounds as sane as anyone else running for

president these days and youre probably right.

His statements on his website sound like his heart is in the right place:

Today, Andrew D. Basiago is running for President of the United States with a New

Agenda for a New America.

He has vowed that if elected President, he will lead the American people into a bold,

new era of Truth, Reform, and Innovation as great as they are great.

Join us in supporting Andy in his quest to establish a Presidency as honest, just, and

ingenious as the American people. For those who arent sure if Tom DeLonge

will keep his promise of full disclosure what he knows about secret UFO files, Basiagos

100 proposals in his New Agenda contain things like:

The President should end the ET cover-up in a live, televised address to the American

people.

The President should disclose the fact that atomic explosions on Earth attracted the ETs.

The President should craft an ET contact policy that anticipates a diversity of ET visitors

to Earth.

The President should answer questions that the American people have about NASAs lunar

program.

The President should disclose the existence of the secret US presence on the Red Planet.

The President should declassify the secret space program and treaties with off-planet

civilizations.

Theres 94 more where those came from.

If youd like a time traveling, Mars visiting, alien revealing president, check out Andrew

Basiagos website and make sure youre registered to vote (a good idea anyway).

How To Make Calla Lily Pearl Earrings - Duration: 5:29.

To make these earrings you need to calla lily findings. And we got these at a bead

show, but you can also get them online. You need two pearls. These are six

millimeter pearls. Two head pins. And we chose head pins with a ball tip. Two

earring wires, also with a ball tip, just to match. And for tools, we have round-

nose pliers and wire cutters.

For these earrings we want to show you a little bit about this calla lily finding.

It's essentially just sort of a cupped flower that has a hole in the top and

it's just really pretty. We like the finish of it. And we thought it would be

really pretty with a pearl inside, so that's our design. So the first thing

we're gonna do is feed a pearl onto a head pin. Pearls can have a really

really tiny hole in them, so it's important to test your head pins with

your pearls before you get started, because the gauge of the wire of a head

pin can be really different and you might need to get a thinner head pin if

your pearl is drilled really small. So there's our pearl on her head pin. The

next thing you do is feed on the calla lily finding. And we're going to do it

this way so that the calla lily, the opening of the flower, is sort of cupping

that pretty pearl. And now we're ready to turn this into an earring. It's that

simple. To do that we're gonna make a wrapped loop. And to make a wrapped loop

we're gonna use round nose pliers. We're gonna grasp the wire right up against

that calla lily. So I'm kind of taking my thumb and pushing that head pin and bead

up against it so that there's not a lot of jiggling. And I'm gonna bend the wire

90 degrees, like that, and now I'm going to reposition the pliers so that they're

at the top of that little 90 degree bend. And I'm going to pull the wire around

the top jaw as far as it'll go to make kind of a partial loop. So there's my

partial loop. Now I'm going to take the bottom jaw of my pliers and put them in the

loop. And I'm going to finish pulling the wire around like that to make a complete

loop. So there's my complete loop. Now I'm going to wrap that loop and to

do that I'm going to grasp that loop across with my pliers take the tail and

pull the wire around two times on that tiny little neck that I made when I

first grabbed on to the head pin. Straighten it up a little bit there. And

then I'm going to trim it with my wire cutters. And I'm going

to trim it pretty close to my work here so that we don't get a little tail

sticking out. If I can get in there. There we go.

And now to make that into an earring all I have to do is take one of my earring

wires, take my loop, and we want this to face forward. So to have it face forward

we're going to put the earring so it's also facing forward which is with the

little ball on the front and we're gonna take the calla lily and keep it facing

forward and basically just slide it on like that. And see it ends up facing

forward. Then we're going to take our pliers and we're just going to close our

little loop. Just like that so that the earring doesn't fall off. And that's our

first earring. And we're just gonna repeat to do the same thing all over

again. So to do that we've got our head pin and our beautiful pearl. We love the

way the pearls look with this shiny gold. So pretty. We'll feed on our calla lily

which is doing all the work for these earrings. Like that. And now we're gonna

make a wrapped loop again. We're gonna use our round-nose pliers to grasp the

head pin wire, bend it 90 degrees, reposition to the top of that bend, pull

the wire around the top jaw, reposition the pliers so that that loop is in the

bottom jaw, and finished pulling the wire around to make a complete loop. Now we're

going to grab the loop across and pull the tail around two times like that. And then

we're going to trim using our wire cutters. Let me do it this way. Now I'm

going to feed that on to my earring wire. And to do that I'm going to do it I did

before. We just face that earring wire forward, just so I get it right, take the

calla lilly, also face it forward, and then slide it on the back and then

forward like that so it ends up facing the right way.

And then let me use my round nose pliers just to close the loop on my earring

wire. And there's our second earring. We've got a beautiful pair of calla lily

and pearl earrings.

[ENGSUB] RUN BTS! | EP.12 - Duration: 22:36.

[Run BTS!] [COPS]

[BTS enters a police station] [Why are they here?]

[Wow!] [So cool!] [Wow!]

[This a realistic police station set] It really looks like a police station.

- The nation's police that does their best! - I've never been before.

This is a set!

This is a set! I feel like I've seen it often in movies and dramas.

[V takes out a prop from somewhere] He's already like...

- He's about to sign a form. - Who drew this?

[V finds a drawing inside the prop] Isn't this J-Hope?

[It looks like J-Hope]

They drew it really well.

- I'm wearing a uniform. - Are you the chief?

[They noticed their outfits are different] [What could today's theme be?]

We're bad guys at first glance.

I know what this is.

- What is it? - Hide & Seek.

Are we cops and robbers?

- That sounds fun. - Cops and robbers!

[The reason why they're here?] Let's hear what we're doing. What are we doing?

For today's "Run BTS!"... We did it before...

[Another skit following Made by BTS] We're going to do another skit.

[Frustration] [Worried] [Serious]

[The painful world of skits] [Confession] [School]

Let's go back to the mental breakdown stage.

So it's a skit where you're the robbers and we're the police.

[Rap Monster organizes the situation today as well]

[Already worried] It'll be hard to be a cop

Skits aren't an easy thing.

- We know because we've done it. - Right.

If it's a skit, is there a script?

- Like last time, it'll be a Real Skit. - There isn't one.

[We hoped it wouldn't be a Real Skit] We have to create the crimes?

[Why do you give us such trials?] For Jung Kook, his crime will be beating us up.

How do I do it? What am I going to do?

[Jung Kook is laughing but not] For attacking the hearts of ARMYs!

I feel like something's going to come out.

It's our first time at a police station right?

It's totally our first time.

When I was young, I went to the police station to return fifty cents.

You're a good kid.

I got scammed buying a used laptop and I've reported it before.

The criminals will be Jin, J-Hope, Jimin. [What crimes did they commit?]

What are the crimes?

What crimes do you think they'll be?

- For me... - I haven't committed a crime.

First, Jin does a lot of lame Dad jokes, so something related to that.

Is that a crime?

It is a crime.

Is my crime being too cute?

Your crime is looking like a horse.

You're speaking nonsense.

Your crime is acting cute.

[Today's sniper is Rap Monster] Your crime is being small.

That's perfect.

[And so, Jin, J-Hope, and Jimin are criminals]

[Feels like this will take a long time] I can already sense the difficulty.

- It's going to be really hard. - I don't think it'll be easy.

[Positive idols] - But let's do our best. - It'll be fun!

[BTS enjoys the situations brought before them] Let's do it!

Please be a good chief.

Let's do this.

What was our slogan? "Run, BTS!"

"Run, BTS!"

[Will they overcome the burden of a Real Skit?]

What did I do wrong that I have to come here?

[BTS Police Station, detective division 3]

Why do I have to come here?

- You did something wrong. - What did I do?

[Police chief Suga doesn't care that a criminal is here] I haven't done anything.

[Currently searching for mines]

I'm here to investigate.

- Do your best. - Yes, thank you.

You're very energetic.

Thank you I'll do my best.

- Name? - Jung Hope.

- Age? - 23-years old.

[First crime] You set fire to Park ARMY's heart.

- And how you did it... - Yeah, let's hear it.

After the Osaka fan meeting finished, you wrote, "OsaCAR, vroom vroom vroom..."

On BTS' twitter, you opened your mouth and smiled like this.

[Heart attack] You smiled big with round eyes.

And you also made this expression, right?

Right? Isn't this you?

But, do I really have to come here for that?

[As the investigation continues...]

[The ace of the detective division 3 appears]

[BTS Police Station's ace, Jeon Jung Kook] Is everything going well?

I haven't explained exactly what the first case is about.

Detective, listen to me! Must I be here?

I'll lift it up! (play-on-words to 'listen to me')

[Suga, thanks for making it funny]

Your first crime will have a long punishment. It's for murder.

What? Murder?

Make that smile that almost killed everyone.

[The smile that made the ARMY's hearts pound]

[Falling for it, you're falling for J-Hope's charms]

[Continuous charm explosion] The first... Stop.

[J-Hope gets 2 years reduced with a smile] I'll acknowledge the first one to an extent.

I'll reduce two years.

Second crime is arson.

- Do you know about it? - I don't know. That's why I'm here.

Because you danced. Show us that dance that you set fire to.

You know "Boy Meets Evil." [Asking for a dance to reduce his sentence]

[Will J-Hope show that dance?]

[He dances hard to reduce his sentence]

Sit down. I don't want to see it.

I don't want to see it. But ARMYs probably liked it.

What do you call a "confirmation?"

What?

[Detective confused the words together] Ah, witness. Tell the witness to come out!

[Park ARMY (feat Jimin) called as a witness] You are Park ARMY?

Yes.

When he danced in the intro.

- I've never seen him before. - He set fire to your heart, right?

He watched it online. That's why you're seeing him for the first time.

You watched his video and your heart was set on fire?

[So there was a fire] Yes.

That's why he's here on this year of the rooster.

Really? But why am I here?

[Jimin came out as a witness without knowing anything]

It got really weird after he came out.

[The Ace takes away the witness]

I have something to talk to you about.

[The two are left to negotiate a lesser sentence] Lastly, show me one of your charms.

If you show me a charm, I'll give you a year.

- 6 months. - 7 months. - Okay.

[J-Hope suddenly gets up and heads to Suga]

[We've seen this somewhere...]

[The body naturally reacts]

- I... - I think you and I have a connection from our previous lives.

I've found his accomplice.

[Who is the accomplice?] It's this guy, right?

It's this guy?

This is your accomplice! Who is this next to you?

It's you! It's you! [The man in the video is the police chief!]

[Wait... This isn't it]

Sit. Sit down.

[Why did the chief appear?] Seeing the two of you, I came because I was so angry.

I did everything. I danced too.

- No, no. - I sang. - No!

[V stops the skit from getting weird] You drank too much.

[Nice timing]

- Where is my house? Please call a cab for me. - I'll call one for you.

This is a mess! [J-Hope wants to end it now]

[Hit]

I'm leaving. Don't call me back for this.

Hold my hand. Hold my hand. [Why...?]

So once again, you're being let go.

[For a perfect finish, V's "Hold My Hand"]

- Let's eat. - Okay. Let's go.

- Don't call me out for things like this. - Okay, okay.

[Through twists and turns, criminal J-Hope is let go]

You're going to get the death sentence!

[Bored] Detective Jeon, bring him over.

I'm bored.

[The detective heads to the cell for the bored criminal]

[The criminal doesn't trust the detective]

[Tries to escape]

[Fail]

[The criminal walks over to get investigated]

Did you think inside the cell?

I'm not sure why I have to be here.

It's all written here. Tell the truth. [Why is he here?]

You set fire to the ARMY's hearts with your smiling eyes.

[Speechless]

From 2013 to now, you've committed this crime without missing a day.

Why did you do it?

I'm still young...

I have evidence.

[Please don't do this to me]

Crucial evidence? [Checking the evidence]

What is this?

"Do I have charms? Or not?"

Is it still a crime when I was underaged at the time?

You are an adult now.

I know about this man well, and he's done hip-hop.

[Hip-hop?]

So you liked hip-hop. Did you set fire with hip-hop?

I'm not sure why I have to be here.

Do you know how much the ARMYs are struggling?

That's why I'm asking.

Do you know what kind of detective he is?

I don't, because it's my first time here.

What kind of detective am I?

Hey! I'm the chief! [Parodying "Nameless Gangster : Rules of the Time"]

And eat food, right?

What do you want me to do! Why did you bring me here? [Thankfully, bringing it back on track]

Why did you continue those actions after becoming a legal adult?

Habits are quite scary.

[He trespassed into the hearts of ARMYs like habit]

[Building a wall]

You should rot in prison for 20 years for that crime.

20 years? 20 years is too much.

20 years is too much. Please reduce it.

How about showing us the "Lie" dance?

Do it in the back?

[The criminal stands up without a moment's hesitation]

- Turn around and do it? - You have to look here.

[Anticipation builds for Jimin's "Lie" dance]

What's with this police station?

Why do they make me do this?

[Flapping]

[Calming his heart as he begins to dance]

[Detective Jeon's heart is attacked]

[I am BTS' Jimin!]

I still don't know why I'm here.

[Detective Jeon is at a loss of words] After seeing you dance...

How was it? Please reduce my sentence since you saw me dance.

- I plan on doing it. - How many years?

1 year. You have 19 years left.

Chief! Look! They said I trespassed!

I know why they made me chief.

Director. I know why you made me the chief.

Chief. Haven't we seen each other at a cathedral?

Case number 231324.

The accuser. ARMY made the case. The accused is Jimin.

He's guilty of "dresspassing." [Detective Jeon confuses "trespassing" as something else]

"Dresspassing" (?)... What did you do?

- With his smiling eyes. - What did you do that burned the ARMY's hearts?

[Wink~]

- CEO! - It's not the CEO. I'm the chief!

Look at the camera with those eyes.

- Detective Jeon, continue and question him. - I have something to say, chief.

How about using me as a detective? [Looking to steal Detective Jeon's spot]

Honestly, I'm not sure how he became a policeman.

Then I'll be a detective.

[Jimin and Jung Kook switch spots]

Detective. I'm not that kind of person.

[Became a detective, but don't know what to do] Chief, what should we do?

Don't ask me and just do what you want. [There's a book...Then...]

[Oh wells] You bad man!

You bad man!

[Shocked after doing it]

[Why did I do that?] [Now what do I do?]

Hold on. [The criminal and detective decide to change spots again]

I'll go to that spot.

There was a murder case in the police station.

[What murder case happened?]

The skit died.

What are you two going to do?

Go to the jail cell!

[The criminal and the detective head to the jail cell] Do you want jajangmyun?

My role was supposed to be the incompetent police chief.

[Jimin tries to escape] [He escapes in one go]

[Detective Jeon is left behind alone]

[Detectives come into question the last criminal]

[He eventually came out of the cell]

His face is at fault! [This criminal is different, starting with his face!]

- What do you mean I'm at fault? - Your shoulders are at fault!

- My shoulders? - Name? - Jin.

Don't go to Japan. You'll be Jin-san*. (Jinsang means a person who throws a fussy fit)

[Ha.Ha.Ha.] You're such a funny chief!

Let's hear why I'm here. What did I do?

With broad shoulders and a sculpted face, you attacked the ARMYs' hearts.

As a member of BTS, isn't that a given?

You're BTS?

- You don't know BTS? - How old are you?

25-years old.

- And you're BTS? - Wow. Seriously!

- Are you looking down on me because of my age? - Put your hand on your heart.

What is your age* next year? (He's using the word mainly used for older people)

I'm not at the age to hear that word.

How broad are you shoulders?

- I have beautiful lines. They're broad. - Do you know how many centimeters? - I do.

- How many centimeters? - 60 centimeters. - 60?

- 60 centimeters. - What do I do to make it that?

- Go sit over there. Wait, Park Jimin. - Yes?

- Sit down. - What crime are you here again for?

You're that criminal who attacked the ARMYs' hearts

- with those shoulders, right? - I believe so.

How wide are your shoulders?

23 centimeters.

It's 23 centimeters.

Alright then.

- Blood type? - A doll? (play on words)

I'm a triangle! (play on words)

The chief is so hilarious!

What was I talking bout?

I came here without knowing what my crime was!

You attacked with those shoulders.

- We received a lot of calls from the BTS members. - Saying what?

Whenever they take pictures, they can't find space because of those shoulders.

They're saying something because of their narrow shoulders?

[Victim 1] Aren't your factual statements too vicious?

[The sound of footsteps approaching]

[Victim 2] [Here to punish]

I hear that he suffers the most.

What does his shoulders being 23 centimeters

have to do with my crime?

- Broaden your shoulders! - Yeah!

What is "Ahjae?" (Ahjae = old man. Also play on words with "crime")

You're asking me to explain the crime?

Why do you keep making lame Dad jokes? It's a huge crime.

- That's why it's "Ahjae." - Yes

Why am I speaking formerly?

Why do you keep doing it?

For my own pleasure. I don't pay attention to other people's emotions. Only for my enjoyment.

What kind of Dad jokes do you make?

What is it called when a cow sings?

It's a "lawsuit." (play on words)

Do you know what it's called when a group of cows sing together?

It's a "group lawsuit."

[He's so funny]

You sure are funny kids.

Do you know how you describe Rain's manager in just four syllables?

"Obesity Care." (play on words with "Only take care of Rain")

[Chief Min's Dad jokes bring great laughter]

Hold on! Dad jokes are here!

- If you eat a raw duck? - "A twister?" (play on words)

Do you think you dance well?

- I'm a pro dancer. - With your hand on your chest.

- I am BTS'... - I am BTS' main dancer.

If you show us your charms, we might reduce your sentence.

Then should I dance again?

This is a very threatening dance.

[Is this... Is this...?]

[The 333 dance of "Fire"]

[I am BTS' main dancer]

[With one heart]

Good work! I'll hit the slate! 1, 2, 3!

[The End]

["Run BTS!"'s third skit has finished] It's over. How was it?

- How was it? - It's not easy.

- Not anyone can do skits. - Right.

Don't I always say this?

Do something you're good at. [BTS will continue with music]

- That's right. - Let's stick with our main job. - But it was a new experience.

Actors really are great.

- Actors and... - I really respect you.

and comedians.

They're all so...

amazing.

It's amazing how they can come up with those things on the spot.

Let's give them a round of applause. [Going to annoy Kookie] [Don't care]

Will there be a reason for us

- to come to the station? - No.

- We won't. - No question that we won't.

- Yes, it should never happen - This set was so well made. It's like the real thing.

It was a great experience. I never want to come to a police station again.

Although he said it like that,

[Today's MVP] - I think Suga's role was pretty big. - That's right.

[The other MVP] I also thought Jin did well.

I think for Suga,

because he was caught every shoot,

- acting wasn't easy. - It wasn't.

[Today's MVP is Min Suga]

Do you give me something if I'm MVP?

- As the MVP prize... - I'll give you a coin.

The skit... Not that... Don't say that.

- It was fun. - We did one about cops and robbers.

- Let's not come here again. - "Run BTS!" continues next time!

- Police around the world, fighting! - Fighting! It's cold and you're working so hard!

[Bonus footage] If you beat me in a dance battle, I'll reduce your sentence.

You punk, you don't know he's the best at dance battles, huh?

But I've danced pretty well in my prime.

[Jung Kook, the golden youngest, who can sing and dance VS Jimin, the Busan dancer, the rising idol of modern dance]

[Might be a bit embarrassing, but I am BTS' orange-haired man who kills!]

[Super focused]

[A true man who kills]

[You saw that, right?]

[Is it my turn now?] Detective Jeon, you know it!

[He stops his hand from unbuttoning his shirt]

[How can I show him my overflowing charms?]

[The time is now!]

[Isn't this a punishment for me?]

[Embarrassed] Chief...

If you cut the music, it's awkward for me.

[Whatever people say, I walk my own path]

[We have to see good things twice]

[No, three times]

[This is what sexy is]

Chief, I don't think that was a dance.

[What will Chief V decide?] [Jimin's victory]

- Now what happens? - Go to the cell. - Yes.

- Go there. - What about me? - You also go to the cell.

- Then why did we have a dance battle? - You were supposed to go to the cell,

but I wanted to watch you dance.

In here...

- Can we get one jajangmyun? - Keep dancing with no music.

[Ready, start!]

[Watching]

[Really?] I'm going to be watching. And I'll let the best one out.

[A no music dance battle starts for the crime of making a boring skit]

[Flapping]

[We're doing all of this. Just let us out]

[With Jimin and Jung Kook's dance battle, "Run BTS!" War on Crime, really, THE END]

Episode 9 - Driving innovation with Accessibility Architect Mary Bellard - Duration: 46:12.

Every release needs to keep getting better or,

at the very least, maintain the level of accessibility, is

really important and that check box alone just does not suffice.

Retail's big show, The 2018 National Retail Federation, or

the NRF Conference is returning to New York City from January

14th to the 16th.

For more than a century, NRF's annual convention

has been an important gathering for industry leaders.

Microsoft is one of the largest sponsors of this event, and

this year, we are looking forward to having an in-depth

conversation around home and

online, front of house, back office and connected supply.

>> You're listening to the Women in Business and

Technology podcast from Microsoft.

In each episode, you will hear from women in amazing tech and

business roles.

As well as male allies who are helping make the industries more

inclusive.

We are diving into programs that are promote greater diversity in

the pipeline and bringing you tapes on how to build

a successful career in a supportive community.

Welcome to Women in Business and Technology.

[MUSIC]

>> Welcome to episode nine of Women in Business and

Technology.

I'm Sonia Dara.

>> And I'm Colleen O'Brien.

>> We're kicking things off in our community connects segment

with a visit to a recent event called BE(ER) AN(D) ENGINEER,

a fundraising initiative for

a non-profit supporting girls in STEM called Techbridge Girls.

>> And then we'll jump into an interview I had with

Mary Bullard,

a Senior Accessibility Architect here at Microsoft,

helping make our products work for people with disabilities.

Finally, we'll wrap things up in our cutting

edge segment with the discussion on representing jobs

in the tech industry that don't require any coding expertise.

Let's jump right in.

[MUSIC]

>> Sonia, welcome back from Thanksgiving.

I know that you had a great time in Atlanta,

I was back here in Seattle.

But now we're in the thick of the holiday season,

which is always a pretty reflective time for me.

I'm looking back on 2017 and doing some personal and

professional goal-setting for 2018.

>> I'm doing a bit of that planning, as well.

One training, though,

that you should consider is offered by Duarte Academy.

I was invited to attend a training session with them just

prior to Thanksgiving break, and

it was a one-day workshop called Captivate.

And so we're learning how too be more effective presenters.

And so they teach you how to be more comfortable, how to be

dynamic, and how to actually be empathetic to the audience.

So it was awesome, I highly recommend it for any marketers,

product managers, or entrepreneurs out there.

>> Yeah, that training has definitely been on my radar for

a little while now.

I first learned about Nancy Duarte, whose company provides

those trainings, when I watched her TED Talk.

It was called The Secret Structure of Great Talks,

which is pretty meta.

She's giving this TED Talk about great TED Talks.

>> Yeah, they talk about the talk.

>> [LAUGH] Yeah.

>> That's cool.

>> We used her Harvard Business Review Guide to

Persuasive Presentations book in my business school

communications class.

And lastly, I picked up her book Resonate after she visited

Microsoft in 2015.

So I am a major fangirl of Nancy Duarte's work.

>> Number one fan in the room right here.

>> [LAUGH] >> Yeah, so for you listeners,

whether you're interested in honing your storytelling skills

or putting together an awesome presentation for say,

an end of your meeting.

>> You can find a ton of great training, links to books, and

free content at duarte.com.

[MUSIC]

>> Community Connect,

get involved and stay connected.

>> Earlier this month, Colleen and

I headed to Optimism Brewing in Capitol Hill, in Seattle.

For an event called, Beer and Engineer or Be, B-E an Engineer,

depending on how you interpreted the great stylistic usage

of parenthesis in their logo.

The event was a fundraising initiative for Techbridge Girls,

a non-profit organization that seeks to expand the academic and

career options for girls in science, technology, and

engineering.

Career women and young children alike worked on engineering

activities at tables in the brewery.

Both Colleen and I donated virtual beers to the cause, and

connected with a few of the dozens of attendees.

Marian George is an applied scientist at Amazon.

She explained how important it is for women in STEM to inspire

the next generation of girls at these types of gatherings.

>> These kinds of events, I think, are really good to boost

some confidence and encourage women to approach this field,

and make them feel they are welcome.

>> Leah Bar-on Simmons is a software engineer at Microsoft.

She attended the event to learn more about volunteer

opportunities and

ways she can encourage girls to pursue computer science.

>> I noticed how influential we can be to freshmen coming in.

Freshman girls coming in and

taking a class as difficult as an introductory computer science

class, they need role models that are also women.

It makes a huge difference.

You can have a role model, but

if you can't connect in that same kind of way,

knowing that they went through the same thing you went through.

It's really important for that to happen.

And so seeing that this is for

even younger kids, it's super important to me.

I'm also new to Seattle, and so

I wanna be a part of that community.

And I think knowing that these things happen makes me really

excited and I'd want to be able to be a part of that.

>> Kyleen Junier is a Senior Project Engineer at Skanska who

wants to help more girls find their way into STEM

intentionally.

>> I didn't know what engineering was until I was

an engineer.

And I think it would have been very helpful to have known,

at least have some exposure to females in engineering,

when I was in middle school and high school.

And also to understand some of the career opportunities that

were available to me.

Cuz I kind of stumbled into civil engineering and

got really lucky that I have loved it.

>> Kyleen was hopeful about the impact of Be(er) an(d) Engineer,

but noted an opportunity to represent even broader diversity

at future events.

>> Hopefully, more women in senior executive positions,

I see a lot of women at my position,

senior project engineer, and project engineer.

And not so many in the vice president level and

project executive level.

And it'd be really encouraging to see more senior level women

involved, especially women of color.

>> For more information about Techbridge Girls programming, or

to make a donation to the nonprofit organization,

visit techbridgegirls.org.

And now let's get on to the interview.

[MUSIC]

>> I'm excited to welcome to the show today

Senior Accessabilty Architect Mary Bullard.

Mary, thanks for being on the show.

>> Thank you so much for inviting me.

>> You work on Microsoft's Corporate External and

Legal Affairs team, in the Technology and

Corporate Responsibility Group.

What does your role as an accessibility architect entail?

>> The Corporate External and Legal Affairs team's role

is to support our engineering organizations across Microsoft.

And the Technology and Corporate Responsibility team within that

division is a group of experts in specific topics,

like accessibility, that work to support our current initiatives

but also impact and influence what we're gonna do next.

The accessibility focus within the team is led by

Microsoft's Chief Accessibility Officer Jenny Lay-Flurrie,

who is the coolest person ever to get to work with.

>> [LAUGH] >> I've learned so

much from her, both in how to be an advocate for people with

disabilities, and how to become a leader within my own career.

And this architect role that I'm currently in is about

understanding what innovation projects are going on,

both inside and outside the company, supporting them

Whenever appropriate and helping to formulate the strategy of how

we're going to stay on the cutting edge of how technology

is gonna empower people with disabilities into the future.

>> Can you tell me what a typical day in the life of

a senior accessibility architect looks like?

>> Every day's different.

It involves recording podcasts like this with you.

>> Yes.

[LAUGH] >> This evening I am going to

accept an award on behalf of a project that I was involved in

called Seeing AI, which is an app for people in the blind and

low vision community leveraging our artificial intelligence

within Azure Cognitive Services.

And we're receiving an award from a local organization.

So those are the things that were happening today.

Typical day involves a lot of discussions with product teams

like Windows and Office and Cloud and Enterprise and

Research.

And helping them answer questions that they have,

getting the resources that they need,

brainstorming about new ideas that they have.

And this architect role on that team at its core is about

understanding what innovation projects are going on,

both in and outside the company,

supporting those projects where appropriate.

And then helping to formulate a strategy for

how we're going to stay on the cutting edge

of how technology empowers the disability community.

And the short way of saying that is,

this architect role is basically my dream job.

>> [LAUGH] That is great to hear.

I'm so glad to be talking to you on the day that you're receiving

the award for Seeing AI, because that it is

one of the coolest applications I have ever seen.

>> That's very kind of you to say.

>> Yeah,

I saw it demoed internally at one of Satya's Q & A sessions.

And it was a really powerful experience to see

a visually impaired person using that app

to navigate the world to see how much a product costs.

Or to identify that the person standing in front of her was

a 40-something year old man.

It was Satya.

>> Yeah.

[LAUGH] >> Yeah,

it's a really cool product,

and amazing that you had some impact on that.

That's very impressive.

>> It was such a fun thing.

It was an idea that came out of a hack-a-thon project,

which is sort of our company event every summer.

And the people that were involved in it, and

I was just one person, but

all the people that were involved in it kept pushing and

kept working to get it out to our customers in the market.

And it's definitely a highlight of my time here at Microsoft.

>> Cool, how did you actually become interested in

accessibility?

Did you know that this was your dream job from day one?

>> I did not.

My interest as a child growing up into an adult

spanned from everything from wanting to be

a bartender to a DJ to a doctor to everything in between.

And so this interest and passion that has formed around

accessibility was kind of a combination of things.

In high school, I was a camp counselor in Brooklyn,

New York where I grew up and lived for most of my life.

And this camp was intended for children and

adults with physical and cognitive disabilities.

And I was a part of the sports program during my years there.

And it was kind of about trying to figure out games or

activities that everyone could participate in.

So that was really the first sort of domino in this

situation, and then the second one was in college.

I took American sign language classes for many years.

And that's when I was first exposed to

the deaf community and deaf culture.

I learned a lot there, not just in how the deaf community

cultivates its own identity, but also in understanding etiquette,

and how I could best advocate for and

serve as an ally for that community.

And then after college I had some jobs all over the place

kind of, and eventually landed in an IT position at

a non-profit that served the blind and low vision community

and I worked there for about six years.

So those are sort of the three dominoes that were a part of me

figuring that accessibility was really interesting,

something that I wanted to do.

>> And did each of those experiences sort of

build on one another?

At that camp counselor job, did you realize, hey, I really like

developing inclusive games or doing this research?

>> It didn't, it was later.

And it was really the role at the nonprofit where it kind of

clicked for me that this was what I wanted to do for

my career.

And that position allowed me to figure out what I wanted

was to help people find technology more useful

in whatever way they wanted to use it.

And also find a way to make technology better.

And being able to help people and technology.

The only company that I could accomplish both of those

was Microsoft.

>> That's great to hear.

And I would really like to take a step back here and

talk a little bit about vocabulary.

How does the team describe the audiences that you're surveying?

I've personally heard descriptors like impaired or

disabled.

What is respectful language that we should be using here?

>> Yeah, so everyone has an opinion on this,

and every person's opinion is justified.

The golden rule is to ask how someone would

like to be referred to.

The approach that Microsoft has taken

is to whenever possible use people-first language.

So we'll say a person with a disability,

a person who is blind, a person who uses a wheelchair,

where the person comes first, not the disability.

We try to avoid the term impaired for

any disability community because it's kind of related to

the medical model of disability where there is something that is

air quotes wrong with someone.

And we try and spend more time focusing on what someone's

ability is rather then what their disability is.

So those are the guidance that I would say.

We're not perfect, we can make mistakes.

The part that you can always trust is learn from other people

and ask what they would prefer that they'd be referred to as.

>> I think that's great guidance.

I've heard it referred to as the platinum rule.

The golden rule being, treat others as you wanna be treated.

The platinum rule is,

treat others as they want to be treated.

>> That's good. I like that one.

>> [LAUGH] >> I like that one.

>> Yeah, you recently gave a talk at your team summit for

the corporate external and

legal affairs team about signage on gender inclusive

restrooms that you encountered at a recent conference.

Would you mind relaying that story to our listeners?

>> So I was at a conference a couple of years ago, and

I went to use the restroom during one of the breaks.

And there was a sign outside the room that

said that it was a gender inclusive restroom.

And there was a couple stick figures representing

the traditional man stick figure, woman stick figure and

then the stick figure that has what appears to be half

the dress or the cake depending on how you think about it.

>> [LAUGH] >> And half not and

then there was also a person in a wheelchair.

And underneath the words,

gender inclusive restroom, there were braille dots.

And so

if you are not sure how someone who's blind uses technology or

consumes reading material, sometimes they will use audio

experiences like screen reading software where they audibly hear

what is happening on a screen or some kind of device.

And then the other tactic is braille,

which is a tactile language represented through dots.

So there's soft of an alphabet and

a grammar structure around how to convey printed sentences and

concepts through this tactile language.

And so The dots on the page were intended to also read the words

gender inclusive restroom, but they were not tactile.

They were printed dots on paper.

>> No. [LAUGH]

>> And so,

the intention was totally there.

The people who had printed out these signs,

wanted everyone who encountered those restrooms to feel like

they were welcome to use them.

But the execution of that intention was not necessarily

right on point, because the braille was not actually useful

to someone who would benefit from braille.

So that will a little story that we had, it was an experience

that I shared at a company event and the take

away that I wanted my team members to get from that is it's

really important to have the intention in the right place.

But we also have to match that with execution, and

it really speaks to this concept of accessibility is not just

a checkbox, it's not something that you just consider at

the end of creating a document or

at the end of creating a application or mobile app.

It's something that is part of the entire process.

And it's sort of a different way to think about how you design

and develop things.

>> And to that end I've been hearing more about accessibility

as part of the product development cycle

more than ever before.

I think previously in product development cycles accessibility

was sort of, through of, as a bolt on.

As in we're ready to ship this product.

Can we check these boxes?

But again, now more than ever.

I'm working with engineers here at the company,

who are considering this throughout their

product development process.

What do you think is responsible for

this energized interest in accessibility

as a core component of product development?

>> I'm really happy that you are witnessing more excitement.

>> Yes. [LAUGH] >> That's really exciting.

So the first thing that is pivotal in understanding

what is happening right now is this culture

change that is happening under Satya Nadella's leadership.

This idea that our role, as a global organization,

to empower every person and every organization on the planet

to achieve more is something that we need to live.

It's not just a mission statement,

it is actually what we are doing day in and day out.

So that is the first thing that starts all of this,

that makes this a ripe opportunity to raise the bar for

what's possible in our experiences.

The second thing is there are people in this company and

there are people In our external community

that believe accessibility drives innovation.

And the role that the team I'm on has is to

get that idea that accessibility drives innovation to more and

more teams, so they understand that.

And they embrace it not as a tax but

as a challenge that benefits their overall product.

And going a little step further into that piece,

what we're trying to convey is that there are multiple ways to

input information and

multiple ways that people want information output to them.

And we can start a conversation with

someone who's blind would benefit from this because x, but

that conversation eventually evolves into

lots of people would benefit from this because of y.

This branching of accessibility being just about people with

disabilities into accessibility being about supporting

all people through a variety of Input and output is what is this

idea of inclusive design and how we're gonna move forward.

>> Can we make that point a little bit more tactile for

our audience.

I've often times heard that sidewalk

cutouts were originally designed for people in wheelchairs,

but when they were better served in our environment, so

too were people on bicycles who also had wheels and

needed to get up on a sidewalk.

Or people who were pushing baby carriages or wheeling luggage.

Are there any other examples that your team talks about

to make this ideology real for

the engineers that you're working with?

>> Absolutely.

So in PowerPoint, we have a tool called PowerPoint Designer.

And what happens is, you open up the program.

You have some slides, you insert a photo.

And maybe you add some text,

maybe you add some icons or graphics.

And a pane opens up on the right side of the product.

And it suggests a design for that slide based upon the colors

that are in use and the orientation of the photos and

the number of bullet points that you might have.

This was started as an idea that this would make it really easy

and quick to create a visually engaging Powerpoint slide. Great.

So

we have people who are short on time or short on interest in

learning all the complexities that the Powerpoint product has.

Great Powerpoint designer can give you an aesthetically

pleasing slide fast.

>> Yes, I've used it many times.

[LAUGH] >> Cool.

But then you think about, okay, who else benefits from this?

People with dexterity disabilities, so limited or

no use of one or

both hands would also gain from this experience because when you

think about PowerPoint slides that you have seen before.

With very extensive graphics and animations,

there are a lot of clicks or key presses involved in

arranging all of those objects, selecting all those colors,

layering the different elements that are on the screen.

And by just inserting the core parts to your slide,

the bullet points that you want to convey,

the images that you wanna use, PowerPoint becomes a tool

to then rearrange that through far fewer clicks.

>> What a great example.

I'm even thinking, sometimes I don't have my mouse with me, and

not having a mouse accessible makes that entire process

of using Designer in PowerPoint much easier.

It's a really great example.

Thank you for sharing that.

Mary I recently read a stat

from the World Health Organization which reports

that 285 million people are visiually impaired or blind.

This gigantic number really astounded me.

Because this is just one segment of people who have specific

needs when it comes to technology.

Not even you know mentioning people with dexterity issues

that you brought up here.

But for me that number demonstrates that people with

these types of needs are not a niche population.

Why has it taken us so long to really start and

engage in this conversation about product accessibility.

>> I think the best way to answer that is, if I take

a broader view than just me as an employee at Microsoft, but

think of myself as a person in the broader accessibility

community.

The biggest factor in the evolution of accessible

experience has been a shift from reactive to proactive.

So for a very long time and still exist today in a number of

instances where someone whether designing or

building a product thinks of accessibility as a problem they

have to solve, and they can solve that problem.

And if we don't learn how they came to that solution and

what factored into coming to that solution for

the next product you're designing or building, or

the one after that, or the one after that, we're going to

keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

And so the shift from reactive to proactive was inevitable and

it's something that we have to keep working on every day.

Again, we're not perfect.

We haven't solved everything, but

we are trying really hard to get things right for our customers.

And so Taking that proactive approach means that everyone

gets involved, it's not just the engineer, it's the designer,

it's the program manager, it's the director,

it's the people making budget decisions.

And we are on a journey to design and

build better products.

And I think that's what you're witnessing right now.

The other thing that I wanna mention that is again,

not necessarily unique to Microsoft but

certainly prevalent across industries

is that not enough people are graduating today with.

Foundational knowledge in accessibility when it comes to

technology.

And Microsoft and many other tech companies including Google

and Facebook and Yahoo which is now oath and Adobe and

many other organizations have partner together.

With professors at universities and colleges,

to create a sort of consortium called Teach Access.

And we work together to make the computer science curriculum,

the accreditation that is associated with the computer

science curriculum include accessibility as a foundational

component.

To graduating with a computer science degree.

And this is absolutely a long term investment,

because what we want,

we being all tech companies involved in this initiative.

We want to hire people out of college

who know the foundation and then we build on that

based upon what our particular product set is.

And so that is a long term investment and we think that we

will see the benefits from that over the years, but

that's part of this entire landscape.

We want as companies change from reactive to proactive when it

comes to accessibility, but we also want to nurture

accessibility expertise earlier on in someone's career.

In particular when they're in school.

So that way it's that much easier to ramp up on this when

you join a company and the company can start focusing more

and more on those innovative and

what some might think are impossible projects.

Because we're not worried about the foundational components of

accessibility.

>> It seems like that said a major theme in this conversation

instead of teaching a crashed course when

someone is hired out of college on accessibility,

how can you better integrate that into the process.

>> I think that it is a hugely strategic and

impressive approach, through out our conversation here,

you've mentioned a couple of times that the work that your

team does has an external component as well.

What does the community of people that you are working with

to inform your work look like.

Are they raising their hands to say that they wanna be involved,

who are these people?

>> These people are fantastic, there are all over the place.

There are people from the disability community,

there are people from the accessibility community.

And the approach we've taken internally is, we have employee

resource groups for employees with disabilities and they will

collectively make suggestions and feedback on our products.

That's key, we also include

people with disabilities is when we're doing user studies.

And we're doing testing on our products.

We also have a customer support channel

called The Microsoft Disability Answer Desk and

there's also an Enterprise Disability Answer Desk.

And we pay very close attention to the information that

comes through those channels.

We also have support from our retail stores, people from

the local communities going in wanting to learn.

What's happening, Windows 10,

what's new with Windows Narrator, those kinds of things.

And so, all those kinds of channels are constantly

impacting our prioritization and our focus.

We use that to prioritize what we're gonna work on and

how we're going to approach something.

We also want to think about what trends we're seeing in

the market.

What's happening outside the company?

What research is going on at colleges and universities.

And we want to stay ahead of what is coming down in

innovations and technology, so that we are sure to include

accessibility as part of those early conversations.

So we can make sure that the final baked product is very,

very high quality.

>> It sounds like have a lot of input from different channels.

A lot of feedback coming from customers or

subject matter experts or people living with disabilities who

are actually feeding into your feedback forums.

Which presents you and

your team with a lot of data to make compelling cases to

engineering teams that they should prioritize features,

capabilities, etc, to make their products more accessible.

Have you encountered any push back in getting

engineers to prioritize accessibility and

what are some of the ways that Microsoft has really

adopted this data feedback as an input to the development cycle?

>> Anytime you are asking someone

to do something that they were not anticipating and

they are not positive how to do, you will always get push back.

Our journey in the accessibility space has been to

influence the culture of Microsoft employees.

So, when they meet with our team, that's no the first time

that they are ever hearing about accessibility, so that's part.

The next thing is, making sure that there is training available

to our employees, so they have the right tools and

resources to understand

why a bug has been filed against their product and how to fix it.

And we also want to celebrate with product teams

when they have done it well.

And that is, in my mind, just as important as

correcting someone when they have done something incorrect

is celebrating when they have done something really well.

And being able to convey a customer story about how

a person in the world, maybe who has a disability,

who has found something like learning tools for

OneNote to be useful and impactful in their life.

Motivates and energizes all the people who are designing and

building products like that.

And it motivates people in the surrounding teams to say,

I wanna do something with my product that has that

kind of impact.

And so, sparking that motivation Is really pivotal to

making sure that we can change what that conversation is like.

So again, it's not about accessibility being a tax, but

it's more about accessibility as a challenge that is going to

make your experiences more inclusive.

>> And getting more people to use your product and

getting more people to use more features within your product.

>> Yeah, I love that positioning.

>> Taking a step from Microsoft, and sort of surveying where our

listeners might be working more inclusively.

Why is it important for organizations to shift away from

the mindset of checking the box on accessibility?

>> So this concept for my experience,

this concept of checking the box refers to I've built something

and I'm gonna ship this something.

And I need to make sure that I am meeting whatever regulations

are appropriate for my experience.

And I'm checking the box that yes, my product is accessible.

And when you check that box, it is kind of

answering a question with one of two choices.

Is your product accessible, yes or no.

And there is a lot of complexity that goes into making

an experience accessible.

So it's making sure that someone using a keyboard instead

of a mouse, or voice commands instead of a keyboard,

or touch input instead of voice can interact with your product.

And that information is conveyed.

Meaningfully back to that user,

after they've taken their action.

And so there's a lot of layers to it, and

it's not as simple as checking a box.

The other way to look at it is that when you check that box,

it means that you haven't necessarily

considered accessibility or implemented any of the best

practices around accessibility up until that last point.

And so, the story that I think a lot of people within software

development are familiar with is you've created this thing,

you're about to release it, and

you can't check that box that it is accessible.

And now it is a fire drill to go and fix it,

and in that fire drill, dDecisions are made.

Bugs and features are cut to prioritize what we

absolutely have to release or fix and what we don't.

And that's a really negative place to be in and

it's one that is not conducive to innovation.

We want to be thoughtful and consistent in how we design and

build our products.

And this idea that checking the box is enough, is just untrue.

And what we need to do is we need to have milestones

throughout the entire ideation process.

Making sure that people with a variety of abilities

could use that experience effectively.

And so it's a larger process than just checking a box.

>> Yeah, I hear you saying that it's business critical to

incorporate accessibility as a multiple checkbox on your

product development cycle both to make your product

available to the greatest number of people.

But also to ensure that it survives its launch.

Otherwise, it might be a Frankenstein version of

the product you hoped to ship if you weren't considering

accessibility all along.

>> One other thing is,

we want to avoid regression in experience.

And so, the checkbox, is just about,

at this point in time, is it accessible.

And it's really, during the entire process of design and

development, have we learned lessons that have changed

the way that we're going to update this product, or

how we're going to create a new product.

And that idea that every release needs to keep getting better,

or at the very least maintain the level of accessibility,

is really important, and

that checkbox alone just does not suffice.

>> Mm-hm >> Many of our listeners are in

the technology field but

many of them were generally are working in business.

What are ways that our listeners can practice more inclusive

behaviors around accessibility in their day-to-day work and

communication.

>> The first thing I wanna say is, if you are working at

an organization, work to cultivate the community

of employees with disabilities at your organization.

Employee resource groups are one way to do this,

there are others.

That approach has really helped Microsoft.

And it has really helped our employees feel that

they can bring their best selves to work.

Related to that sort of the next step is making sure that when

you are recruiting.

And interviewing and hiring people that you have a diverse

talent pool from which to hire.

And that includes people with disabilities, so

making sure that the interview process and recruiting process

allows for accommodations is really critical.

So someone who maybe uses a wheelchair,

making sure that they can get into the meeting room, and

that they have the software or

hardware that they need to best do an interview activity,

like writing on the white board or whatever.

Figuring out ways to accommodate people with different abilities

so that way you are interviewing a diverse talent pool and

then you can bring in the best possible candidate into

your company is really important.

The other day-to-day recommendation is all of us at

one point or another are authoring content,

whether it's writing an email, sending a text, making a post on

social media, creating a slide deck, editing a video.

You name it, we're all creating content in some way.

And I would challenge all the listeners to find ways to make

the content that we author accessible.

If you're using Microsoft Office,

we have a tool called the Accessibility Checker.

So while you're creating your Word document or

your PowerPoint file, you can run this checker and

sort of understand what things you've added or

taken away that impact the accessibility of those files.

That's one little small way to do it.

>> I saw in your presentation at the summit, that you also

mentioned if you're writing comments in email,

to put your initials before your comments.

>> Yes. The team that I'm on

is the corporate external and legal affairs.

So there are a lot of lawyers in that group.

And this concept of comments inline is a common one.

So if you send me an email asking me a series of questions,

a common tactic is that I reply to your email saying,

comments inline.

And so, underneath each of your questions, I put in my response.

And what I wanted to share with my co-workers and

encourage them to do is, when you are doing that,

replying to an email with comments in line.

Put your initials at the beginning.

So someone who is using a screen reader or screen magnifier

can more easily understand what are Mary's comments,

what are Colleen's comments and, if you have lots of people on

a thread, what everybody's comments are.

It helps make that email exchange

a little more inclusive.

>> Yeah, that was a great quick and easy tip for me.

I'm often just using color coding like my comments

are in red.

And that's a really quick fix.

Something that I can change in my

behavior to make my communication more accessible.

>> Mary, what does accessibility allyship look like beyond some

of these ways that we can take more responsibility ourselves

for making accessibility a part of our lives?

>> The approach that I take to allyship is,

learn more everyday.

So I have worked in accessibility

as a professional for more than nine years now, and

I still learn something new everyday.

Whether it's about how best to support a coworker with

a disability.

Or how best to solve a technical problem being

raised from a customer feedback.

It's constantly thinking that there's always more to know,

and being open to that, and not feeling like you have to know

all the answers to everything because you never will.

And so having this openness to learning more and

working to get better is really key.

>> And are there any resources that you can recommend to people

who wanna make this investment in learning more about

accessibility?

>> Definitely the Microsoft.com/accessibility site

is our accessibility homepage.

Lots of great information on there.

If you're interested in job openings at Microsoft, there's

Microsoft.com/inclusivehiring.

And if you're really just wanting to learn more about

disability or accessibility or looking for

resources to share within your own companies and

communities, we publish our internal accessibility

one-on-one training course online.

And the short URL to get to that is aka.ms/introacc,

so I-N-T-R-O-A-C-C, and it'll take you to

that video that's online that is free to share out.

>> Mary, thank you so much for being on the show today, for

bringing us up to speed on all of these great resources.

And thank you for your contributions to this company.

>> I appreciate the invitation very, very much.

I'm happy to talk about accessibility at any time

you want.

>> Cutting Edge, our take home stories in the business and

technology world.

[MUSIC]

[MUSIC]

In this episode, we're gonna discuss a November 15th post on

Stackify by Adrienne Weissman, who is a female executive at

the commercial software and services company, G2 Crowd.

The post is called, The Potential for

Women in Tech Goes Beyond Coding.

And personally, I first learned about this piece after a friend

of the podcast, Emily Daundrea, shared it on LinkedIn.

>> Weissman talks about a theme that we've discussed on the show

of couple of times now.

That the tech industry is not exclusively for

software engineers.

She very importantly identifies as a big believer that girls,

and young women should be encouraged to code, but also

acknowledges that, hey, there are many other jobs in tech.

Marketing, accounting, writing, and

you don't have to have to code in that job.

>> But of course, with shows like HBO's Silicon Valley,

shaping public perception of what it's like to work in tech,

there's this significant lack of representation when it comes to

those other jobs that you mentioned, like marketing or

accounting or writing.

And let alone, women filling those other roles.

As we've discussed often with many of our communities and

guests on the show,

representation is really important.

And I can vouch for this firsthand, whenever I watch

a Shonda Rhimes' show- >> [LAUGH]

>> I immediately want to be

the characters that she creates.

After watching Grey's Anatomy, I wanted to be a surgeon.

After watching How To Get Away With Murder, I started

studying for the LSAT, thinking that I was going to be a lawyer.

There is so much inspiration in just seeing what's possible.

>> Having not seen How to Get Away with Murder,

I thought that was going in a different direction-

>> [LAUGH]

>> [LAUGH] when you wanted to

become a murderer at that point.

So glad there's a little clarification,

I need to add that to my watchlist apparently.

>> Yes, you do.

>> I know, I need to, okay.

So, yeah, Weissman wraps up her post with an intention

to showcase a greater diversity of careers in tech.

But there's a subtle call to action for readers as well.

And it's all of our responsibility as parents,

teachers, friends, and

role models to make sure that girls understand

the constellation of opportunity that awaits them in STEM fields.

So as someone in a non-technical role, like I'm on marketing for

the Surface team, the statement has really gotten me thinking

more critically about how I can be a more public representation

of what's possible in the tech industry.

>> And that can actually become problematic, to add another

layer of responsibility to your plate, as a woman in tech.

Too often, we are asking women not only to do their jobs,

but to be present at networking events,

or to sit in on interview loops,

to model diversity and encourage the next generation.

So I would never personally charge anyone with that

additional responsibility.

But whether it's through volunteering some time to tell

girls about my job in tech, which is non-technical, or

teaching an hour of code, which is fairly easy to do for

even people who don't know how to code themselves.

I'm up for the challenge of representing part of that tech

job constellation that Weissman references.

[MUSIC]

I learned a lot from this episode,

a lot about accessibility,

a lot about great communities of women in STEM here in Seattle.

And a lot about the importance of representation of different

jobs in the tech industry.

I feel like this was a strong show for us.

>> Yeah, totally, and to our listeners, this is just

a reminder to rate, review, and subscribe to the show.

If you think a friend might enjoy this content,

please let that person know.

>> As always, you can find us on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, or

wherever you listen to podcasts, including Spotify,

where we recently launched.

>> Woo hoo.

>> If you have any feedback or questions, please email us at

wibt@miscrosoft.com or tweet us @microsoftwomen.

[MUSIC]

>> All right, people.

Your mission for this episode, if you choose to accept it,

is to learn a bit more about accessible communication.

So before you share out that next PowerPoint presentation,

click the review tab on the ribbon and

then select check accessibility.

You'll then see a list of recommendations for

ways to make your presentation more accessible.

It's super easy and a way we can all start contributing to a more

inclusive workplace.

out of wallet

the scented banknote shimmers

my wet mouth gapes

blood

leaking from somewhere

searching for a face

a door peels open

and blacksuited women emerge

frowning

holding paper cups

its coffee fumes

😌 Meghan's Shady Sister Lands TLC Special🍊Samantha Markle - Duration: 3:23.

The whole world is in love with the story of Meghan Markle, the self-made actress whose

fairytale romance is soon to make her a member of the royal family.

Well, perhaps we should say almost the whole world loves the saga of MegMar...

Meghan has a half-sister named Samantha Grant, who has apparently decided to devote herself

to a career in professional shade-throwing.

Having re-branded herself as Samantha Markle, Meg's semi-sibling is attempting to make a

name for herself by exposing the former Suits actress' checkered past .

It's a job that would no doubt be much easier if Meghan actually had a checkered past.

Meghan and Samantha were born 16 years apart, and they haven't seen each other since 2008,

which means Meghan's doorman probably knows more about her life than Samantha does.

But that's not stopping Ms.  Grant Markle from cashing in on her sister's rise to the

A-list.

TLC has announced a new special cornily titled When Harry Met Meghan: A Royal Engagement,

which will apparently serve as a soapbox for Samantha.

"The tabloids wanted to create this African-American, rags-to-riches Cinderella, if you will, which

is so far from reality, you know," Sam says in a preview.

So ... is Samantha really contesting the fact that Meghan is African-American?

Guess we'll have to watch the special to find out!

You got us again, TLC!

This is far from the first time that Samantha has endeavored to make a buck by publicly

slamming Meghan.

Back in April, Samantha landed a deal to write a tell-all about Meghan entitled--wait for

it-- The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister.

While promoting the book, Samantha accused Meghan of turning her back on their relationship

simply because Samantha is wheelchair-bound with MS:

"[Meghan] ignores a sister in a wheelchair because it is an embarrassment to her," Samantha

told UK tabloid the  Sun .

She added, "I didn't feel a separation from [Meghan] until I was in the wheelchair."

But don't worry, Samantha swears she has nothing but nice things to say about the sister who

dropped her due to a physical disability:

"Everyone assumes my book is a slamming tell all, which it is not, now it can be egg in

their faces and everyone can say what they think, my book is not a slam piece and it

is important historically," she recently told Us Weekly .

Well, Sam, we can't help but think that assumption has something to do with the fact that you

call her "Princess Pushy" right in the awful title (which, by the way, makes the book sound

more like a Judy Bloom novel than a document of historic importance).

Oh, and then there's the fact that you accused Meghan of abandoning you because your wheelchair

clashed with her outfit or whatever.

We're sure the book is a regular hagiography, and the wedding invitation is in the mail!

"The Chronic Chronicles" Unethical Doctor Update - Duration: 8:54.

Hey everyone! So, some of you may remember that, in November, I posted a video about

my experience with a very unethical GI doctor.

If you haven't seen that video yet, it's pretty crucial to understanding this

video, so I will link it in the description box down below.

You should probably go watch that first before you watch this because this is a follow up.

I did file a formal complaint and I got this fabulously frustrating letter back from them.

Now, I'm not gonna show you the actual front of the letter because

I don't want to get in trouble for, like, sharing confidential information or

using the facility's name. I don't know. But I am going to tell you

what they said and talk about how I plan to continue to pursue this issue

because this is this is definitely not satisfying at all, because almost

everything they said is wrong. So, as for the doctor, we'll just call him doctor unethical.

We'll just call him doctor unethical so that he may remain anonymous.

So, this is the letter that I got from the manager of

digestive diseases and network endoscopy.

This is what she said: "I am writing in follow-up to

you and your mother's complaint regarding your visit with Dr. Unethical on 11/8/17.

I completed a review of your concern on 12/ 6/2017."

Ok, good you reviewed it. Let's see what happens now.

So, "your input gives us the opportunity to review our services and make changes when necessary"

Except that you're not going to make any changes.

"Your complete satisfaction is very important to us."

Obviously not, as you will see later in the letter.

"Upon reviewing your appointment time and the associated registration times on two occasions

with Dr. Unethical, it appears you arrived a few minutes late each time."

Okay, let's stop there for a moment. I was not late on either of these occasions.

The reason that this manager thinks I was late is because their system doesn't show you as checking in

until they finish checking you in and getting you all registered for the appointment.

And every single time that I've gone to this office, they take at least 15 to 20 minutes to check me in.

I think it may have even been around a half hour one time,

because they cannot seem to manage to get my insurance information and my

name correct. So I'm not sure how that's my fault.

My name changed a little over a year ago so you think they'd have that under control right now.

My insurance changed, I think, almost a year ago so they should have that under control by now too.

Let's continue: "It's important for patients to be on time. . . "

blah blah blah blah I was on time so I already know that.

So, the first occasion that I was supposedly late,

which I'm pretty sure is the time that they took about a half an hour to check me in,

"Dr. unethical did fit you back into his schedule." Wow, what a hero.

"Unfortunately it was after a patient who had a 60 minute appointment this is what caused the delay."

No, no, that is not what caused the delay. Because I remember that particular day,

and I had my mom there with me. So, even though my memory is not-so-hot

I have someone to back me up on this one.

for at least a half an hour, maybe even 45 minutes, I was sitting in "the little room" as I like to call it.

You know, after they call you out of the waiting room and you're in the exam room.

I sat in the exam room and Dr. unethical was sitting at his little desk on his computer for 30 to 45 minutes;

Probably about 45 minutes. And, I had waited in the waiting room for almost an hour before that so that just doesn't add up.

He wasn't with a patient. He was sitting at a desk

and he didn't even look like he was really on the computer. He didn't look like he was doing anything.

So, he was not in with a patient and I wasn't late, so those are both wrong.

"In regards to the second occasion on 11/ 8/2017"--this is the day I had the major issue and walked out

as you can see in the video down below. if you haven't seen it yet.

"It was reported to me you were yelling at the provider upon overhearing doctor Dr. unethical

talking to a nurse about your late arrival."

Ok, two things about this. First of all, I did not "overhear" him.

He whipped opened the door and started screaming at the nurse that was in the room with us.

There was no "overhearing". He was not, like, in the hallway saying I was late--

even if he was that still wouldn't really be okay, but no. I was changing into a gown

and he burst in the room and started yelling about how we were late.

And, in regards to me yelling at him, uh yeah I did yell at him.

Yeah, that's the only thing in here that they're right about. I did yell at him because he was yelling at me

where here they say I was yelling, and it was "also reported that

Dr. unethical did not raise his voice at all." Oh, he's so wonderful isn't he? No!

He came in the room screaming at the nurse right in front of me; burst in the room

opened the door, slammed the door, started screaming right in front of me.

I did not "overhear" and he most certainly raised his voice. And then yes I did raise mine,

which is the only thing they're right about in this letter.

And then they always like to wrap these things up with, like, a nice little sentence at the end,

Like it's supposed to make you, you know, satisfied again.

"It is our commitment to do everything possible to ensure your experience at this Center--

I won't name it I don't want to get in trouble--is positive in every way."

Yeah, obviously that's not your commitment since you told, I think, like three or four lies

in this thing here and you're not doing anything about this doctor. So, I actually

plan to appeal this further to the medical director of the facility, and I

will let you all know how that goes. And, I realize that they may not do anything,

but I intend to take this as far as I possibly can, simply because I don't want

other people to have to have this experience.

And other ways that I plan to try to help other people to avoid this kind of experience

is writing online reviews for this particular doctor. I know that when I need a new provider,

I typically go online and look at the reviews, and if they have some bad

reviews, sometimes it can cause you to kind of look twice. And I definitely want

to make people look twice before they go to this guy and possibly get treated the

way I did. So, that's what's happening with that.

Thanks for watching my video. I'm gonna try to start posting here more often.

It'll be a mix of English videos and ASL videos but everything is always captioned in English,

regardless of if I'm speaking or if I'm signing.

And you can click that subscribe button down there. And ,next to the subscribe button, there's a little bell.

And if you click that bell you'll get notified every time I post the new video.

And, sooner or later-- probably later because it's a doctor's office-- you can find out how

this whole thing is going. But, in the mean-time, I'll have some other content for you guys as well.

Thank you for watching, bye!
