Youtube daily report w Dec 18 2017

[burps]

Hey guys, it's Annika. Welcome to my channika.

I am super f-ing sick.

I'm actually kind of pissed off,

because I usually have such a good immune system,

because I spent my childhood

playing in McDonald's Play Places,

so that just built up my immune system.

But I've gotten sick two times in three months,

and, like . . .

that's a lot. Like, that's a lot.

Today, I'm gonna be doing another holiday-ish video,

I'm going to be playing for you my Christmas playlist.

I don't know. These videos are super popular,

but I feel like all the songs are the same.

Like, I know that Liv Walters did one,

and my songs are literally the exact same as hers.

So I'm gonna also be getting ready while I'm doing it.

So I thought it just might be fun.

You can jam out to some Christmas tunes with me.

Like, you know.

I was applying this bougie-ass Urban Outfitters lip balm

that I'm kind of convinced absolutely does jack-sh--.

It literally feels like I'm putting butter on my lips.

So yeah.

There's that.

Okay, yeah. My Spotify is anni.kax.

You know that if you've watched any

of my other playlist videos.

And my holiday playlist is "Holly 'n F-ing Jolly."

So let's just get poppin.

Also, this video isn't gonna be funny,

because I'm not funny. When are my videos ever funny?

I f-- with the Pentatonix so hard.

I f-- with the Pentatonix so f-ing hard, but

I just used the Fenty Beauty Matte Primer.

I'm doing this because I'm using

the Simply Me Beauty BB Cream.

Oh f--!

Yeah. This is the one from 7-Eleven.

I bought all of the things from 7-Eleven,

and I was gonna do a video.

But by the time that I got everything,

the videos weren't cool anymore.

Like, nobody was posting them.

So I was like, "Oh sh--. I'm too late."

But I had already opened everything,

so . . . can't return it. That's cool.

But I actually kind of liked the foundation

when I used it with the mattifying primer,

because it's kind of greasy.

Also, I have a f-ing cystic pimple.

Can we just talk about

what a f-ing mess my life is right now?

Okay, listen. Listen to this.

Listen to this:

I'm bloated as f--.

I have the worst f-ing cramps.

I'm breaking out like a motherf--er.

My hair is greasy as f-ing sh--.

It's in one giant knot.

And I have so much work to do today,

and I have to post a video tomorrow,

and I don't have one.

This is gonna be my video for Monday. So . . .

Yeah. There aren't enough hours in the day,

especially when I wake up

at literally 3:00 in the afternoon.

Like, that's cool. Like, cool.

Also, all I want right now is some Chick-fil-A.

But it's a f-ing Sunday,

and they're dirty-ass motherf-ing Christians.

You know, they love the Lord too much,

and they don't open on the f-ing holy day.

But what if I'm going to church

and right after, I need to get some f-ing fries.

Like, huh? What are we gonna do?

I don't know. I hate Chik-fil-A.

Also, they don't like abortions and gay people,

so like I don't . . .

But their fries. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Let's play a new Christmas song, shall we?

Okay.

Okay, I'm a huge fan of more new Christmas songs.

Like, you know. I like Michael Buble singing the classics,

but I also love Pentatonix and Ariana Grande, and

- don't hate me -

I kind of like "Mistletoe" by Justin Bieber.

But I still have a really great appreciation

- where the f-- is the lid -

I still have a great appreciation for, you know,

Frank Sinatra and Eartha Kitt.

You know, the OG singers. You know.

Brenda Lee, my f-ing b--. Honestly.

I'm gonna take the Simply Me Powder.

I actually like the powder.

Like, the powder is something that I f-- with.

And I'm gonna use the little thing that it comes with

because . . . Actually, no. I'm not.

It is trash.

The only thing is . . .

Like, it comes in one shade.

And also, there are little bumps in mine.

I've used it, like, twice.

Do you see those little bumps?

I don't know if you can.

But there are little bumps in the powder,

and does anybody know why that happens?

Because that happens to me,

but I don't even know . . .

I'm just gonna stop talking now.

Let's play some more music.

Oh yeah. This is my sh--.

Oh there's nothing left in this. Cool.

I'm done. Sorry Jose.

Oh! This is my favorite Christmas song.

I just think it's such a clever mash-up.

Like, who woulda thunk it?

Oh! This is my favorite version of

"Baby, It's Cold Outside."

With Michael Buble and Idina Menzel.

"Adele Dazeem."

Adele Dazeem.

What is this?

Okay, I'm gonna do the other eye,

and I'll be back.

Okay. Forgive my eyeliner.

I haven't done eyeliner

- like, just normal eyeliner.

I did the Candy Cane one.

I haven't done normal eyeliner since, maybe, August.

Like, a while.

And now I'm gonna play . . . Possibly, like,

It's in the top three of my favorite Christmas songs.

I don't really . . . maybe top five. I don't really know.

But it's "Mary Did You Know?" by Pentatonix.

I just . . . It . . . .

Ooooh.

I know that that song's a little religious,

and I'm really not here for religious Christmas songs,

because tbh, imo, no offense . . .

Jesus wasn't born on Christmas.

So why . . . why . . .

Why?

Also, I don't know. I just feel like Christmas

has more meaning than just Jesus's birth.

In my opinion . . .

Oh my god. I'm getting the mascara everywhere.

In my opinion, Christmas is more about

spending time with your family.

And that's why people who are atheists

celebrate Christmas.

I feel like Christmas has

a different meaning to everyone,

and to me it doesn't really mean . . .

it doesn't really have to do with Jesus.

But that song is just gorgeous.

And I think that it's also interesting,

because Jesus was a real person.

And I just think, "What would Mary think

if she knew that her baby got all this f-ing hype?"

Regardless of if he had powers or not.

I personally believe that he did.

But I don't know. I just think it's kind of interesting.

Here's one you guys are gonna make fun of me for.

But I'd be s-ing your d--, I know.

Ha! "Gay."

Uh.

Such a classic.

This is my favorite Christmas song, I think.

I feel like I've been saying that about all of them.

. . . to save me from tears,

I might as well just kill myself.

Another Ariana Grande classic.

She has the best Christmas songs, in my opinion.

So, I'm sorry that this was kind of a lame-ish video,

but I hope that you guys jammed out with me.

Let me know if you guys want me to do

some more playlist videos.

And I hope that you guys have a

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah,

Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Eid, Happy Birthday,

Happy Meme.

Please comment, rate, subscribe, and

keep on Christmas-ing!

Context Types | Learning Zenject (Part 5) - Duration: 4:15.

In Zenject, Contexts are the glue between the containers and your

Installers. Each Container is attached to a Context, and each Context has a list of

your installers. This is how each Container knows which dependencies it

needs to create. In a perfect world your applications would only ever need a

single Context. But as a developer you already know - nothing is ever that simple

Zenject provides four types of Contexts. Scene Context, GameObject Context

Decorator Context, and Project Context. The Scene Context is the entry point of

each scene. It's the first script that gets executed once the Project Context

is initialized, and it's where all of the scene's dependencies get created and

initialized. The GameObject Context is a sub-container context. It serves as a

grouping mechanism for your dependencies on a per GameObject basis. Each scene

can have multiple instances of the same GameObject Context. They're typically

used to implement the facade pattern which is a design pattern that I'll

cover in a future video.

The Decorator Context is a nested context that's

attached to its own scene. Its purpose is to dynamically add functionality to a

scene through Unity's multi-scene editing feature. It does this by nesting

itself to the Scene Context of the scene that it's added to. Unlike the GameObject

Context the Decorator Context and the Scene Context share the same

Container. And finally the Project Context is a

global context that lives as a prefab in the resources folder. It's used to create

project wide, global dependencies. The Project Context only gets initialized

once, at the very start of the application, and its dependencies are

reused in every scene. All four of these Context types can be used simultaneously

to achieve a highly granular Object Graph for your project. But to get the

most out of these Contexts it's important to understand the order in

which they're initialized. It all begins during Unity's Awake phase. The Project

Context is the first Context type to be initialized. This happens only once

during the entire life cycle of the application. First each MonoBehaviour

that's attached to the Project Context prefab is passed to the Project Context

Container. Then the Install Bindings method is called on each Installer

that's attached to the Project Context component. Finally all non-lazy objects

that are found within these installers are constructed. Once the Project Context

is complete, the Scene Context is initialized following the same process.

It's important to note that if the Decorator Context exists, it will also be

initialized during this step. Last but not least, each GameObject Context in

the scene is initialized. Again the same set of steps are followed. Although there

are a few advanced features that aren't covered in this video, Contexts are

pretty straightforward. They allow you to group up or separate the dependencies in

your project. In the next video we're going to be taking a look at the non-

MonoBehaviour classes that are available in Zenject. If you enjoyed this video,

Navy blue makeup tutorial | Blue eyeshadow with glitter | AMBER MANCHA - Duration: 4:38.

Hey there sexy lady welcome to my channel or welcome back to my channel today, we're doing a blue eye

I was dying for an avi, but when I was done with it

It wasn't giving me the punch that I was looking for so I decided to add some glitter

you do not have to add that step if you don't want to this was just something that I was feeling at the time if

You're into all things beauty and baby make sure that you hit that subscribe button and that notification bell so that you don't miss

Anything and let's get started

I'm starting off by using the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer, and this is the anti-aging one

I'm just applying that with my fingers, and then I'm blending it out with my Real Techniques Beauty sponge

This is one of the minis. I love this so much for the eye area

Then I'm applying a transition shade and this is bare

This is the lightest transition shade that's in the morphe 39a palette, and I'm putting that into the crease and just blending it out

Now I'm going in with Nana, and this is the magic palette from Julia's place

And I'm gonna put that in the same exact areas using the same exact brush

I'm just using this eye shadow so that it'll warm the eye up a bit and the blue won't make me look like I have

two black eyes

Also at any point in time you can close your mouth. That would be great

above my actual crease

But I'm putting a he da and then once I get to the outer lash line or the outer corner of my eye

I'm flicking it up towards my eyebrow, and then I'm taking a tapered fluffy brush with absolutely no extra product on it

And I'm working on blending this out

I'm trying to concentrate the very tip of the brush at the very top of where I put the eyeshadow and just

Slightly moving it back and forth not using a lot of pressure

I'm just gonna warn you guys right now blue eyeshadow does not blend easily it is very frustrating

Take your time

Then I'm going back in with the brush that I used for my transition shade and just blending out that top now

I'm going into indigo

And this is from the morphe 39a palette and i'm putting that as close to the lash line and all over the lid

Once I get to the outer corner

I'm taking a business card and just giving myself a guide so I can have a really sharp edge

And that I'm ever so slightly just blending out that eyeshadow again

Now I'm going in with the color of eye

And I'm gonna be putting that on a very small brush and concentrating that in the inner corner

Taking the jus vias place gel liner

I'm going to build myself a very strong wing also the lashes that you'll see in three seconds are Stella from Koko lashes

Now I'm going back in with the original

Transition shade and putting that below my lower lash line so we can start blending out those shadows underneath

I'm taking the heat a again and concentrating that inside of the lash line

And I've really been trying to put more shadow in my lower lash line because I just feel like I'm not

Doing as much as I should the one thing I will say about this particular

eyeshadow is as soon as I touched it with the

Blending brush it like blended away, so I should have probably just left it alone

I did not know it was gonna do that but it did not stay at all so I used a very very light hand

then in the waterline I went in with the Sephora Koran and these are waterproof and it's matte and it's number 39 my

boyfriend's jeans this pencil is

Beautiful I want to do a whole look just with this pencil

And then I am taking the NYX glitter glue and some glitter that I got and I am putting that below my lower lash line

There's a warning and there is a disclaimer if you are not using

Cosmetic grade glitter do not put it above your eye

Where it can fall in your eye and when you're taking it off make sure that you do not

Get it in there. It can cut your eye, so be very very careful

For my lip liner, I forgot how good this lip liner was this is the Milani?

Number nine and this is in the shade spice. I also use this as my whole lip color. Oh my god in

Love as far as having a neutral and then on top of that

I just took the highlighter that I used on my face and placed it in the middle of my lips

So they look nice and pouty and that will complete this look

I hope you guys enjoyed this video if you did, please give it a big thumbs up

Don't forget to subscribe and share with the world so that we can achieve I cannot

so if we can achieve world domination

and if you're into all things beauty and baby don't forget to subscribe and hit that notification bell so that you don't miss anything and

I am so excited for the New Year's you guys I?

Feel like big things are coming for this YouTube channel

so make sure that you subscribe so you don't miss it because you want to be a part of the

Partay and I will see you next time

Freshwater skimmer, or surface skimmer | Practical Fishkeeping - Duration: 1:46.

Freshwater skimer, or surface skimmer

This type of skimmer is not exclusive to fresh water but is where we most see its application.

The advantage of this skimmer is to be small, a small skimmer is already able to clean the surface

of a large aquarium.

They work by sucking only the upper layer of water, the lamina where the surface tension

and where we see the retention of particles and fat.

Although the name is skimmer, it is not a true skimmer because this word means skimmer

and there are no bubbles like in the true skimmer.

Another advantage is that they are cheap because they use a simpler system of operation.

One can buy a good eheim surface skimmer for a mere fraction of a normal skimmer.

They are suitable for planted aquariums where they are also widely used, do not

the C02 dissolved and improves the quality of water incredibly.

In my case, I use it in a nano and the water quality is much higher when it does not

I'm using

Because I did not have a sump this kind of filtering for me became practically

essential.

In the matter of saltwater aquariums, I can not say to what extent they can dispense

the use of a traditional skimmer.

Unfortunately I can not answer this yet, but in the matter of nanos, I believe to be fully

it is possible to touch one of these simpler aquariums of softs and few fish with this skimmer.

MY EUROPEAN LIFE - ITALY - Duration: 3:30.

Hey!

What's up?

Today I'm gonna show you my Italian life!

So guys, I'm living here in Italy

so I don't have that scenario anymore

but there's another one! Look how cool it is!

Today I'll show you what changed in my life by living here in Italy!

Let's go!

First of all: FOOD!

Italy is very famous because of it!

Eat here is not only feed ourselves,

It's a social event!

So it's common people set a lunch or dinner

and it'd take 3 or 4 hours

where everyone eats and talks...

I really miss rice and beans!

Here is always:

Pasta, pasta, pasta, pizza, pizza...

Usually in Brazil we dine pasta and so on

Here lunch time is:

Pasta, pasta, pasta, pizza, pizza...

All the time is:

Pasta, pasta, pasta, pizza, pizza...

Another thing is learning the language

Hey! I'm here in Torino, Italy!

And the weather is great!

Italian is very similar to Portuguese

A bit easier for us...

"But It's not easy, you know it..."

But since it's similar it's also hard,

because we make a bunch of mistakes

Look where I ended up living!

Ironically I live in the San Paolo neighborhood

in the Dick Street!

Look!

This is the Dick Street!

Relax! Caraglio doesn't mean Dick in Italian!

Am I living in the cock? 🤔😱

In Sao Paulo I used to use public transportation

Many people like drive there as well

Bike is really popular over here

so my life here is on bike!

There are bike sharing here

There are many bicycles scattered around the city

You pay a small price for the whole year

and You can use them for the whole year

I ride the bike because is a lot faster

a lot cheaper and it's also fit!

I don't like cold weather!

Brazilian cold would be 18ºC or 15ºC

Look! For me it's way too cold!

Another cool thing here it's the social life!

In Italy everybody has fun!

Doesn't matter your age!

In Brazil usually you see young people going out to night clubs...

Here you see people in their 40's, 50's and 60's partying hard!

They do the same what the youth does

There is no:

"It does not fit to your age.."🙄

Happiness is what really matters!

Think about it! 😉

This is it guys! It was a quick video about my Italian life

I'll keep you guys updated

Please, subscribe, like and share the video!

Kisses! 😘

How George Lucas Really Felt About The Last Jedi - Duration: 1:50.

It can't be easy for George Lucas to sit back and watch other filmmakers guide the Star

Wars galaxy.

Of course, it's hard to know for sure because he doesn't seem to say a lot on the subject

lately.

Lucas has not been directly involved in the franchise since it was sold to Disney in 2012,

but he seems to approve of the direction, even if his words on the subject are few and

far between.

Back when The Force Awakens arrived, Lucas told Vulture that:

… "fans are going to love it"...

and that it was:

"very much the kind of movie they've been looking for."

Some perceived his word choice as a backhanded compliment, but he had a similar response

to Rogue One, as director Gareth Edwards said in a press conference that Lucas "really liked"

the anthology flick.

And just days ahead of the release of The Last Jedi, too, the originator of the Star

Wars universe had a similar reaction to the flick written and directed by Rian Johnson

-- with his representatives telling The Hollywood Reporter that he thought the movie was "beautifully

made," and that he was "complimentary" to Johnson after seeing it.

Johnson had previously said that while he was attempting to pursue his own vision of

the story, he wanted it to still be something that would satisfy long-time fans by offering:

"Some things we haven't seen in Star Wars before.

And hopefully it still feels like a Star Wars movie, that's the number one thing."

For Johnson, making a Star Wars movie meant keeping it light-hearted, despite the intensity.

"I think, I hope fans are gonna be pleasantly surprised by how fun and funny this movie

is."

As of now, The Last Jedi has a 93 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which makes

it the best-rated Star Wars flick on the aggregator.

And while some viewers have knocked the movie's audience score down to well below that figure,

it's clear The Last Jedi has at least offered enough suspense and surprises to satisfy those

who matter most, including George Lucas.

Top 10 Super Villains You Didn't Realize Actually Won - Duration: 6:55.

Top 10 Villains You Didnít Realize Actually Won

Sometimes, the long game is more important.

Not all villains exist solely to antagonize our favourite heroes because of selfish or

flat out evil motives ñ sometimes, their motivations go beyond the physical, and their

defeat still triggers the kind of impact in their world that they were trying to illicit.

Either that, or theyíre playing a long game, and end up coming out on top despite seemingly

being defeated.

10 Thanos During The

Infinity Gauntlet story arc, Thanos has collected all of the infinity gems and has complete

mastery over the universe and he defeats pretty much every foe he encounters, including cosmic

beings, imprisoning most.

And after he defeats Eternity, he leaves his body to become the living embodiment of the

universe.

His body and the gauntlet are left vulnerable to Nebula, his granddaughter, who then puts

on the gauntlet and undoes all of the damage.

Another battle goes down, and Thanos fights Adam Warlock, who defeats him, with Thanos

seemingly committing suicide.

But, we find out after the fact that Thanos let that happen ñ he felt that he did not

deserve to win.

So by doing that, guess he actually succeeded?

9 Arcade This villain is someone who was never really

seen as a threat, but due to having advanced powers in one of his own speciality murderous

fun houses, along with the gift of technology, heís able to inflict more trauma on his victims

long after the actual incident.

During Avengers Arena, 16 high powered teenage superheroes are held captive by Arcade in

his funhouse Murder World.

After they escaped but before he was imprisoned, Arcade uploaded the footage of what happened

in order to immortalize himself as a true villain, while furthering the trauma of the

survivors who had escaped.

8 Mister Fear Mister Fearís is a villain who is more brains

than brawn, even though heís trained in hand to hand combat; he uses fear pheromones and

other tech.

Featured in two arcs from Daredevil, ëTo the Devilí and ëWithout Fearí, Mister Fear

was presumed dead after falling off a building when first facing Daredevil.

He returned, and avidly worked towards discrediting Daredevil as a superhero.

In addition to that, before he goes to prison, one of his henchmen gives him a new chemical

compound he had created; one that makes everyone around him worship him, which made his life

in prison a dream; itís practically a paradise for him, and theoretically he could leave

at his leisure whenever heíd like.

7 Wesley Gibson While Wesley Gibbons is the protagonist of

Mark Millarís Wanted and overcomes all of the awful things in his life to realize his

super powered potential, he, Fox and the Fraternity are all still committing crimes, generally

doing the kinds of things heroes would be locking them up for, if it wasnít for the

fact that the Fraternity had eliminated all of the heroes by erasing the worldís memories

of them.

6 Doctor Doom Sometimes itís the little personal victories

that go a long way.

As is the case with Doctor Doom when it comes to what occurred with Valeria Richards, Reed

and Sueís second child.

Long story short, Valeria appeared from the future, informing the fantasic four that she

was the daughter of Doom and Sue.

A bunch of stuff happened, Valeria regressed into a fetus inside of Sue, and Doom had to

deliver the baby while Mister Fantastic was dealing with a world threatening crisis, and

in return, Doom got to name the child ñ Valeria, who was the name of his first love.

So how is this winning?

Aside from Valeria becoming his biological child after Secret Wars?

Well, think of how youíd feel if you were Reed.

Yep.

5 Sinestro During the Sinestro Corps War that appears

in the Green Lantern series, Sinestro was defeated, but not without revealing after

the fact that his motivation in the first place was to get the Green Lantern Corps to

use lethal force.

To which he succeeded.

The Green Lantern Corps now had a more forceful role in the universe, with new laws that approved

of lethal force, therefore inspiring fear, and following suit with the Sinestro Corps

methodology ñ order through fear.

4 Magneto Magneto has had many victories over the years

ñ from killing Apocalypse to ripping out Wolverineís adamantium from his body.

His philosophy has always revolved around mutantsí rights, but with mutants being superior

to humans; the latterís unfair oppression of the former fuelling his fire.

He is determined to save mutants from suffering at the hands of humans.

During Chris Claremontís run on the UnCanny X-Men, Magneto ends up joining Xavier after

he and the X-Men defeated Beyonder.

Magneto reforms, ends up leading the X-Men when Xavier canít, and eventually uses this

trust to harm them after he joins the Hellfire Club, claiming his reformation was all a pretence

in order to use the X-Men and new mutants as pawns for a scheme to take over the world.

In addition to this, one could also argue that most of Magnetoís extremist actions

have led to the pushing of boundaries when it comes to humans and mutantsí progress

living alongside one another in certain stories and films, so hey, at least thereís that.

3 Doctor Octopus Played the long game and won when he took

over Peter Parkerís body in Superior Spider-Man, and then erased Peterís brain waves in issue

9 of the series.

Of course, this doesnít last overly long ñ Otto realizes that heís caused more trouble

than good, and ends up resurrecting Peter, ultimately erasing himself from existence

in a story arc that, despite receiving a lot of hate from fans, was actually pretty tragic.

2 Ozymandias Ozymandias had become excessively wealthy

after revealing his identity and retiring from his career as a superhero.

During the events of Watchmen, its revealed that he is the one killing off his vigilante

accomplices of the past, and that he is behind a scheme to create world peace and prevent

nuclear war from occurring ñ by creating a catastrophe event and psychologically deteriorating

Doctor Manhattan, to frame him for the destruction as a threat against humanity.

And it works.

Having failed to stop him, the heroes agree to go along with it.

While some argue that he may not have won after all because of Rorschachís diary being

left at a journalistís office, thatís sort of the beauty of it all.

And no, weíre not taking into account the events of the Doomsday Clock, because ask

yourself friends, what would Alan Moore do.

Exactly.

1 The Joker The Joker is one of the only villains to have

succeeded in winning the long game multiple times, and on a much deeper level than just

whooping ass.

The Joker is a villain whose philosophy is King ñ most of his victories are metaphorical

ones, where heís played on Bruceís moralities, and tormenting the dark knight, constantly

trying to push him to the edge in which he breaks his resolve.

And it goes beyond the comics ñ this is depicted cinematically in Christopher Nolanís the

Dark Knight.

Other instances in the comics where the Joker has in fact won in a different sense include

Frank Millerís the Dark Knight Returns, where The Joker succeeds in framing Batman for his

murder, despite committing suicide, leaving Batman with a clear conscious; he destroys

the idea that people have of Batman.

Then, in the Death of the Family arc, the Joker succeeds in the metaphorical death of

the Bat Family, destroying most of Bruceís allies trust in him.

There we have it!

Tax Reform: 2017 Year-End Planning - Duration: 2:20.

There's a final republican tax bill. House and Senate party leaders have

negotiated differences between their two bills. Now this bill is still being

written as we speak. This is changing hourly, daily, so stay tuned. Some of the

information I'm telling you may change but here's what we know at this point.

There's a couple things that may go away starting next year. One is the ability to

deduct your state and local taxes except up to about $10,000. That's what's in the

current bill that the Senate and House will be voting on.

In other words, if you have property taxes of $6,000 and state taxes of $10,000,

that's $16,000. You can only deduct $10,000 of that. So you might want to

prepay your state taxes for 2017 before December 31st. You also might want to

prepay your April tax payment by December 31st to make sure that you're

getting a full deduction because you may not get that deduction next year.

Here's another thing that's really important and we're being a bit cautious here but

Roth IRAs. When you convert an IRA to a Roth IRA

you have to pay tax on the conversion. Some of you may have done a Roth

conversion realizing that you can always undo a Roth conversion in the next tax

year all the way to your filing due date. In other words, you could do a $50,000

Roth conversion in 2017 and by April 15th

you could recharacterize all or part of that and pay no tax if you're a too high

of a tax bracket. It looks like in this bill recharacterizations are going

away. And nobody knows this for sure but there's a concern that the

recharacterizations will not even be available next year for 2017. So we're

advising all people that have done Roth conversions in 2017 if you're planning

to recharacterize or undo some of this please do it by December 31st to be safe

and don't delay because your brokerage firm, like fidelity or TD Ameritrade, they

may not be able to process this on the last couple days of the year. So do this

right now, as soon as you get this message. If you're planning to

recharacterize, please be safe because you may not be able to recharacterize

next year. If you would like more information go to purefinancial.com

How Act II Makes or Breaks a Trilogy (NO TLJ SPOILERS) | NowThis Nerd - Duration: 11:39.

Hey guys, I'm Dev and I love a good act 2.

Getting past the sophomore slump is a big test for any Hollywood trilogy.

Like, you want people to stick around for your big finale, right?

We would be honored if you would join us.

Well, a perfectly executed second act can guarantee moviegoers will line up for the third.

We won't spoil 'The Last Jedi' in this video,

but it's clearly solidified the sequel trilogy in the hearts of fans.

Today, I want to take a look at how 'Star Wars' and other big name trilogies hook audiences with classic Hollywood storytelling techniques,

and explore

How Act 2 Makes a Trilogy Epic

Before Marvel changed the movie industry with their shared cinematic universe,

Trilogies were all the rage.

And a lot of them were patterned on concepts originally developed for standalone screenplays,

including the classic three-act structure.

Most mainstream stories can be divided into three parts:

The Setup, the Confrontation, and the Resolution.

Act 1 and 3 are fairly self-explanatory,

The first movie is the introduction to the world,

and the third is the big climax,

but just like an Oreo, the middle is usually the best part.

The Confrontation is when shit gets real.

It's when our characters are at their lowest, usually after suffering

A Major Defeat

When it comes to nailing the second act of a trilogy, it's hard to top 'The Empire Strikes Back.'

The Rebels are coming off a huge victory at the end of the first movie.

but the sequel opens with the Alliance base on Hoth getting absolutely smashed by Imperial walkers,

and things just go downhill from there.

This deal is getting worse all the time...

Our protagonists are flung to different corners of the galaxy.

Leia's lifelong cause is in tatters,

Han gets stabbed in the back by his second-best friend,

I'm sorry.

and Luke bails on Jedi training to get his hand sliced off by Papa Vader.

I'm not afraid.

You will be.

The characters are at rock bottom, and it's hard to imagine their world getting any worse.

In the last shot, everyone's just staring out the window going "oh shit, what do we do now?"

Because they have no idea how they're going to get out of this extremely bad situation,

and neither does the audience.

(and sometimes the director, am'rite)

But you're sure as hell gonna stay tuned for Act 3 to find out.

'Empire's' prequel counterpart 'Attack of the Clones' never hits the same tragic lows.

Our heroes foil an assassination attempt,

Successfully track down and kill a bounty hunter,

And fall in love.

The final shot of 'Clones' is supposed to be a tribute to 'Empire,'

but it's set at a beautiful wedding on a paradise planet.

Like, there's nothing to worry about there except sand, maybe?

I don't like sand...

He's got his droid buddies... He's got his girl...

She forgave him for killing that whole village.

Women, children, she didn't care

Yeah, well, it's when you do it the second then, then it's like, 'too much.'

You're breaking my heart!

Sure, Anakin loses a hand, but there's no overwhelming tragedy that propels the story forward.

'Attack of the Clones' fails to make the stakes real and impactful for our heroes.

The only real consequence is a war between clones and robots that you have to watch a tie-in cartoon to actually see.

For the Republic!!!

Personally, I think it's worth the six seasons and the movie.

Six seasons and a movie? Six seasons and a movie!

But 'Rebels' is better and you wouldn't be wrong for not watching it.

In most trilogies, the second act has to suck for our heroes,

because it's the best way to build up tension for the climax.

'The Matrix Reloaded' ends with Zion on the brink of destruction,

Morpheus losing his belief in a savior,

I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream is gone from me...

It's devastating and heartbreaking, but there's also that little bit of hope,

Which honestly doesn't need to exist in Act 2.

There's no light at the end of the tunnel in 'Empire'

and there's no hope when you hit rock bottom,

which is exactly what the second act symbolizes.

In 'The Dark Knight,' Batman stops the Joker,

but he loses the bigger battle for Harvey Dent's soul.

The world is cruel. And the only morality in a cruel world is chance.

Bruce's dream of a city that no longer needs him is destroyed by his failure to protect Gotham's White Knight.

By the end, he's hunted, villainized and alone.

He's doomed to be Batman for the rest of life,

at least until the third movie.

But to learn that lesson and become that person, he had to utterly fail in Act 2.

It's like Harvey says: 'The night is darkest just before the dawn.'

And I promise you, the dawn is coming.

Another essential Act 2 element is

Emotional Setback

In the three years between 'A New Hope' and 'Empire,'

Han and Leia have developed extremely complex feelings for each other.

He's a cocky asshole, and she just wants to reach the good man she knows is underneath.

C'mon. Ahh, c'mon!

You're imagining things.

The whole film builds to their first kiss in the belly of a space slug,

which makes it even more devastating when they're torn apart at the moment they acknowledge their love.

I love you.

I know.

A good act two doesn't just impede our protagonist's quest,

it throws an emotional wrench in the works, too.

With all the backstory out of the way,

the second act has space to build on the personal relationships between our heroes,

and the characters' internal struggles become just as important as stopping the bad guys.

If you want us to stick with the story, we need that human connection.

The audience has to be as heartbroken as Leia when Han gets frozen,

so we're invested in his safe return in the sequel.

Leia!

One misstep with 'The Matrix Reloaded' is that Neo and Trinity's relationship never really changes.

They're a happy couple when it starts, and by the end they're closer than ever.

Morpheus is bummed about his ship blowing up, but that's just a thing that happens.

It's a good hook for 'Revolutions,' but the second act needs an emotional cliffhanger too,

an internal struggle that defines what our characters are fighting for.

Of course, it doesn't have to be romance.

Great Scott!

After nearly destroying all existence in 'Back to the Future 2,'

Doc Brown kinda loses his taste for time travel.

And then I'm gonna destroy the time machine!

Destroy it? What about all that stuff about humanity? Where we're going and why?

The risks are just too great, as this incident proves. And I was behaving responsibly!

Just the imagine the danger if the time machine were to fall in the wrong hands!

He's horrified by the power in his hands, and he swears to destroy the DeLorean once and for all.

But by the end,

he's got a family,

a giant flying train,

and a more chill perspective on the whole 'playing god' thing.

Your future hasn't been written yet! No one's has! Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one! Both of you!

He's a more complete person when the story finishes,

thanks to the emotional turmoil he went through in Act 2.

It's the same with Luke in 'Empire.'

For three years, Darth Vader has haunted his nightmares.

After Obi-Wan's murder, Luke has been holding back all this rage so he doesn't fall to the Dark Side,

and then the monster that did it turns out to indeed be the father.

You are the father!

NO!!! NOOO!!!

It's a devastating moment that kickstarts his emotional growth into the fully-realized being he becomes at the end of the trilogy.

Then he goes and fouls up again,

so it's up to 'The Last Jedi' to set him on the road to redemption.

The second act lets us know the road a hero has to take in order to triumph,

and sets up their journey by

Revealing the Arc.

One of the reasons everything sucks for our protagonists in Act 2,

is because they're still in the middle of their character arcs,

and they're just not equipped to succeed yet.

In 'Return of the Jedi, Luke has grown into a stoic warrior.

He's mind-tricking people and whatnot,

You will take me to Jabba now.

I will take you to Jabba now.

And he even builds his own lightsaber.

But in 'Empire,' he's still angry and impatient,

You must complete the training.

But Han and Leia will die if I don't!

and he nearly gets himself and all his friends killed in a botched rescue attempt.

In order for Luke to grow, we need to see him fail.

Compare him to Anakin in 'Episode 2.'

If you are suffering as much as I am, please tell me!

He's feeling the same emotions as Luke,

Namely, being treated like a kid by Obi-Wan, crying about it and shit.

but unlike his son, Anakin gives in to his anger and slaughters a whole village of Tusken Raiders.

I killed them. Every single one of them!

He doesn't learn any lessons.

He even tells Padme and she's totally cool with it.

They're like animals! And I slaughtered them like animals!

To be angry is to be human.

And because he never faced repercussions for his misdeeds,

he never grows as a character,

he just keeps falling further into villainy.

DO NOT WANT

It's an inversion of the classic hero's journey,

where the protagonists only succeed by learning from their mistakes.

I've come back to complete my training.

No more training do you require. Already know you that which you need.

They need a better understanding of the world around them,

or the right set of companions to see them through their quest.

They'll get there by the climax,

possibly during it,

but in the second act, they've still got a long ways to go.

In 'The Dark Knight,' Batman alienates most of his friends and takes the rap for Harvey Dent's killing.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

I killed those people. That's what I can be.

No, no, you can't! You're not!

I'm whatever Gotham needs me to be.

Then he retires for eight years because he fracked up so bad.

In Act 3, he's finally ready to let other people into his life and become the symbol Gotham needs,

all thanks to the insight he gained after being brutally outsmarted by the Joker.

I took Gotham's White Knight and I brought him down to our level.

It wasn't hard. See, madness, as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

It's a compelling arc for our hero,

which is something the 'Matrix' sequels never really introduce.

Neo has already finished his growth in the first movie.

He went from civilian sheeple to godlike Kung Fu master,

and then he just kind of stays there for acts 2 and 3.

He learns things, struggles and makes decisions,

but he's pretty much the same bland Christ figure throughout.

Pretty much like Superman.

He's doing his Superman thing.

The whole dying and coming back to life thing would have worked so much better in the third movie,

but once you've conquered death itself, where else can your character possibly go?

It's not like you need anything big to keep the audience engaged,

I mean, Marty McFly's hangup is pretty simple.

He flies off the handle when people call him "chicken, McFly..."

Nobody calls me... Chicken...

But when he sees the consequences,

he keeps a cooler head and saves himself from a life-ruining decision.

30 years ago, your father tried to prove he wasn't chicken and he ended up in an automobile accident.

Oh, you mean with the Rolls Royce?

Part 2 introduces us to the issues Marty needs to overcome,

so we can cheer him on when he finally gets over it in Part 3.

I said that's ten, you gutless yellow pie-slinger!

He's an asshole! I don't care what he says, and I don't care what anybody else says, either!

Look, don't get too confused by all these rules.

You can read a million books about screenplay structure and still create 'The Room.'

Well, whatever.

But you'd be surprised at how many movies stick pretty close to the outline,

and if you zoom out a little farther, you can apply the same lessons to an entire trilogy.

It's a lot more work to earn people's attention, not to mention money, for three connected films,

and the structure can leave the second movie in an awkward place.

But Act 2 has an important job,

It's the meat of the plot, the lynchpin holding the whole narrative together,

and when it's done right,

A great Act 2 is where a story turns into a saga.

Hey guys, thanks for watching! What's the best act 2 you've ever

seen? Spider-Man 2? X2? Mass Effect 2? And how did the 'Last Jedi' do

its job setting up the finale? And as always, please subscribe to NTN.

GRWM JAMMIN TO MY FAVE CHRISTMAS SONGS - Duration: 11:56.

[burps]

Hey guys, it's Annika. Welcome to my channika.

I am super f-ing sick.

I'm actually kind of pissed off,

because I usually have such a good immune system,

because I spent my childhood

playing in McDonald's Play Places,

so that just built up my immune system.

But I've gotten sick two times in three months,

and, like . . .

that's a lot. Like, that's a lot.

Today, I'm gonna be doing another holiday-ish video,

I'm going to be playing for you my Christmas playlist.

I don't know. These videos are super popular,

but I feel like all the songs are the same.

Like, I know that Liv Walters did one,

and my songs are literally the exact same as hers.

So I'm gonna also be getting ready while I'm doing it.

So I thought it just might be fun.

You can jam out to some Christmas tunes with me.

Like, you know.

I was applying this bougie-ass Urban Outfitters lip balm

that I'm kind of convinced absolutely does jack-sh--.

It literally feels like I'm putting butter on my lips.

So yeah.

There's that.

Okay, yeah. My Spotify is anni.kax.

You know that if you've watched any

of my other playlist videos.

And my holiday playlist is "Holly 'n F-ing Jolly."

So let's just get poppin.

Also, this video isn't gonna be funny,

because I'm not funny. When are my videos ever funny?

I f-- with the Pentatonix so hard.

I f-- with the Pentatonix so f-ing hard, but

I just used the Fenty Beauty Matte Primer.

I'm doing this because I'm using

the Simply Me Beauty BB Cream.

Oh f--!

Yeah. This is the one from 7-Eleven.

I bought all of the things from 7-Eleven,

and I was gonna do a video.

But by the time that I got everything,

the videos weren't cool anymore.

Like, nobody was posting them.

So I was like, "Oh sh--. I'm too late."

But I had already opened everything,

so . . . can't return it. That's cool.

But I actually kind of liked the foundation

when I used it with the mattifying primer,

because it's kind of greasy.

Also, I have a f-ing cystic pimple.

Can we just talk about

what a f-ing mess my life is right now?

Okay, listen. Listen to this.

Listen to this:

I'm bloated as f--.

I have the worst f-ing cramps.

I'm breaking out like a motherf--er.

My hair is greasy as f-ing sh--.

It's in one giant knot.

And I have so much work to do today,

and I have to post a video tomorrow,

and I don't have one.

This is gonna be my video for Monday. So . . .

Yeah. There aren't enough hours in the day,

especially when I wake up

at literally 3:00 in the afternoon.

Like, that's cool. Like, cool.

Also, all I want right now is some Chick-fil-A.

But it's a f-ing Sunday,

and they're dirty-ass motherf-ing Christians.

You know, they love the Lord too much,

and they don't open on the f-ing holy day.

But what if I'm going to church

and right after, I need to get some f-ing fries.

Like, huh? What are we gonna do?

I don't know. I hate Chik-fil-A.

Also, they don't like abortions and gay people,

so like I don't . . .

But their fries. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Let's play a new Christmas song, shall we?

Okay.

Okay, I'm a huge fan of more new Christmas songs.

Like, you know. I like Michael Buble singing the classics,

but I also love Pentatonix and Ariana Grande, and

- don't hate me -

I kind of like "Mistletoe" by Justin Bieber.

But I still have a really great appreciation

- where the f-- is the lid -

I still have a great appreciation for, you know,

Frank Sinatra and Eartha Kitt.

You know, the OG singers. You know.

Brenda Lee, my f-ing b--. Honestly.

I'm gonna take the Simply Me Powder.

I actually like the powder.

Like, the powder is something that I f-- with.

And I'm gonna use the little thing that it comes with

because . . . Actually, no. I'm not.

It is trash.

The only thing is . . .

Like, it comes in one shade.

And also, there are little bumps in mine.

I've used it, like, twice.

Do you see those little bumps?

I don't know if you can.

But there are little bumps in the powder,

and does anybody know why that happens?

Because that happens to me,

but I don't even know . . .

I'm just gonna stop talking now.

Let's play some more music.

Oh yeah. This is my sh--.

Oh there's nothing left in this. Cool.

I'm done. Sorry Jose.

Oh! This is my favorite Christmas song.

I just think it's such a clever mash-up.

Like, who woulda thunk it?

Oh! This is my favorite version of

"Baby, It's Cold Outside."

With Michael Buble and Idina Menzel.

"Adele Dazeem."

Adele Dazeem.

What is this?

Okay, I'm gonna do the other eye,

and I'll be back.

Okay. Forgive my eyeliner.

I haven't done eyeliner

- like, just normal eyeliner.

I did the Candy Cane one.

I haven't done normal eyeliner since, maybe, August.

Like, a while.

And now I'm gonna play . . . Possibly, like,

It's in the top three of my favorite Christmas songs.

I don't really . . . maybe top five. I don't really know.

But it's "Mary Did You Know?" by Pentatonix.

I just . . . It . . . .

Ooooh.

I know that that song's a little religious,

and I'm really not here for religious Christmas songs,

because tbh, imo, no offense . . .

Jesus wasn't born on Christmas.

So why . . . why . . .

Why?

Also, I don't know. I just feel like Christmas

has more meaning than just Jesus's birth.

In my opinion . . .

Oh my god. I'm getting the mascara everywhere.

In my opinion, Christmas is more about

spending time with your family.

And that's why people who are atheists

celebrate Christmas.

I feel like Christmas has

a different meaning to everyone,

and to me it doesn't really mean . . .

it doesn't really have to do with Jesus.

But that song is just gorgeous.

And I think that it's also interesting,

because Jesus was a real person.

And I just think, "What would Mary think

if she knew that her baby got all this f-ing hype?"

Regardless of if he had powers or not.

I personally believe that he did.

But I don't know. I just think it's kind of interesting.

Here's one you guys are gonna make fun of me for.

But I'd be s-ing your d--, I know.

Ha! "Gay."

Uh.

Such a classic.

This is my favorite Christmas song, I think.

I feel like I've been saying that about all of them.

. . . to save me from tears,

I might as well just kill myself.

Another Ariana Grande classic.

She has the best Christmas songs, in my opinion.

So, I'm sorry that this was kind of a lame-ish video,

but I hope that you guys jammed out with me.

Let me know if you guys want me to do

some more playlist videos.

And I hope that you guys have a

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah,

Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Eid, Happy Birthday,

Happy Meme.

Please comment, rate, subscribe, and

keep on Christmas-ing!

New Signers At Deaf Events ⎮ ASL Stew - Duration: 10:23.

[JI] Hello, I'm Jill and this is....

that's not Jenna.

Oh... this is Jenna!

This is ASL Stew!

(clap) ♪♪♪

So, new signers going to Deaf events.

Often if you're taking a class

or if you're just learning sign language,

you're encouraged to socialize with Deaf people.

Meaning you tend to go to Deaf events.

It's pretty common.

So, are there specific type of events you should go to,

maybe you should not go to?

Let's talk about it today.

[JE] Why should you go to Deaf events if you're learning sign language?

Well, it's very important to go

because you can actually see the cultural aspect of sign language.

You can see it in a natural form.

Not in a learning environment.

Everything's a little bit more awkward. [JI] Natural

[JE] Yeah, like that. A more natural environment to see sign.

Yes, it definitely can be overwhelming

but overtime if you keep going, you'll pick it up.

It's really helpful to improve your sign language communication.

It's in real time, in a real situation, and real use.

It's really important!

[JI] Right and I'm sure most of you are curious

if there are specific type of events that would be

a better fit for people just learning sign language,

or maybe it doesn't matter.

So, you can explain.

[JE] Okay, some events definitely go to them.

Some of them maybe aren't the best option...

for various reasons.

So we are going to talk about what are some good options

for events to go to.

[JI] Well, one example which I guess is kind of local to us,

but at our local university, RIT,

they have something called No Voice Zone, NVZ.

There a lot of people go.

You cannot use spoken language at all.

Only sign. [JE] Voices off!

[JI] Right, voices off.

But it's set up to be extremely new signer friendly.

Everyone's very open-minded. It's a teaching mindset.

So it's the perfect type of event.

[JE] Another good opportunity is some kind of public event.

Sometimes they have shows, plays,

stand up comedy, all in sign language.

Maybe ASL skits or something of that variety.

Those are really good places cause it's open to the public.

So anybody can go.

Not always, but often they will have interpreters there

voicing for people who are struggling to understand.

So maybe pre or post show you can do some socializing

and meet up with people which is nice.

[JI] Another possibility is some sort of game night

like playing cards.

I know that's a popular one.

Or BINGO night.

There's other possibilities like going to an expo.

There's a lot of different Deaf businesses there, organizations.

So you can meet and chat with people briefly

but with multiple different people.

So lots of good ideas!

I'm sure if you go to a college

maybe you have your own Deaf events there

or your local Deaf club might have something.

So just kind of take a look and you'll know if it's good or not.

[JE] One more suggestion.

If you like to go out to the bar or something

you can check and see if your local community has either

what's called Deaf Professional Happy Hour or Deaf Night Out,

DPH or DNO.

Or something similar to that concept

where people get together, pick a place

and just kind of hang out and socialize.

[JI] Obviously if you're 21 or above, if you're in the US.

Drinking might actually be helpful to calm you down a bit.

So we've given you a few examples of possible places you can go.

Now we want to kind of talk about, if you're a new signer,

what are the... manners, the rules... [JE] Etiquette

[JI] ...right, the eti.. etiquette. I'm no good at spelling.

Anyways, that! Exactly!

So what do you do?

First of all, understand if this is your first time going

or you're just a shy person like I was,

I was petrified to go to Deaf events, I really was.

So maybe you want to go with a friend or maybe as a group.

That's perfectly fine! However, there's a few things.

If you go with a friend or in a group,

make sure you actually socialize with Deaf people.

Don't go and then just talk to each other

and not actually socialize with anyone.

Make sure you're socializing.

That's why you have each other, to support each other.

Also, make sure if again you go with somebody,

don't just talk, verbally talk to each other.

Turn your voices off.

If people see you signing together in a signing environment,

then it's easier to socialize.

[JE] Right, you might be wondering why you should not use your voice?

But, think about this.

Within a hearing environment, people are talking all the time and you can hear that.

So if you are not involved you are still getting that incidental learning.

"Oh I heard this." "Oh I heard that."

However if you're Deaf and people are talking,

you're missing out on the opportunity to be involved and understand what's going on.

It's considered rude!

So if everyone's signing, I can say

"Oh hey... I know about that..." and join in the conversation.

So it's kind of part of social manners.

It's really important to not use your voice.

[JI] Definitely, and Deaf people are going to be more willing

to include you if you're signing and not just talking.

Cause if you're talking they'll be like "oh never mind".

That means you're not actually learning which is the point of why you're going.

[JE] Another suggestion is

as a new signer, sometimes you're not gonna know

all of the signs needed for communication.

But don't get stuck if you don't know a sign and give up.

"Oh I don't know, I'm just gonna leave."

No, you can go ahead and fingerspell.

You know how to use your alphabet.

Practice using that.

Fingerspell it and someone will say "oh here's the sign".

Then you can go ahead and use that.

You'll pick up more signs that way.

If you don't know something, fingerspell it.

It's really that easy.

It'll build your sign vocabulary.

Really nice.

[JI] Yeah, I still do that.

Sometimes I'll be like, "um... what's the sign for that?"

So I'll fingerspell it and ask if someone knows.

They give it to me and great! I'm still learning too.

[JE] Another thing,

if you're communicating with somebody,

don't be afraid to ask for clarification.

Don't just kind of nod your head like,

"yeah, yeah I know what you're talking about."

Deaf people use that all the time

in other situations with hearing people.

So we're pretty aware and can tell when you're doing that.

When you really don't know.

It's fine! Totally understandable.

We've been there, done that.

So you don't need to pretend like you know what's going on.

Go ahead and ask someone to repeat

or "Hey you said this. What was the other part I missed?"

Something like that and then you can

go back and forth and have your conversation.

I think Deaf people are pretty use to that

so it's no big deal.

We're more patient in general.

[JI] Yeah, so those are pretty much our tips

for new signers going to Deaf events.

Again, just make sure and check beforehand what type of event it is.

Obviously if it's what you call a "closed" event,

like for example maybe the local Deaf club has their own town hall meeting,

or something of that nature obviously

you might not be as welcome

if they're having a serious discussion.

They don't have time to try and slow down

and communicate with you in that sense.

But overall, hopefully these tips have been helpful!

Let us know, have you gone to your first Deaf event?

Do you have any coming up soon?

If you're a new signer

let us know!

If you've experienced it before, what was your experience?

Let us know either way. We love your comments.

[JE] Yeah, definitely comment your experience

whether it's your first time or you've been there many times.

Still, we love reading and look forward to your comments.

[JI] Yeah, if you have any other tips, like she said,

if you're well versed in Deaf events,

definitely leave a tip for other people down below.

Help each other out because

we're not gonna cover everything.

[JE] Right, this is just kind of the basics.

[JI] Well, hopefully you have enjoyed this video

They have cool perks there.

I hope it all gets resolved before İpek hears about it so that it does not get messy.

I am not sure how drunk I am but I feel like I'm sitting at a table with The Boran boys.

Radiant and colorful.

It is impossible not to notice her when she walks in.

The way she smiles brightens the hearts of people around her.

BMW, Germany's success model? - VisualPolitik EN - Duration: 12:24.

You have often asked why in a channel called VisualPolitik we sometimes make videos about

companies.

For example, we already talked about, Amazon, Inditex and Tesla, among others.

Well, we do it for two fundamental reasons:

The first one is that we see politics in a broad sense, that is, we can't talk about

politics without considering economic and social issues.

And, of course, I don't think we can deny the huge influence that big companies have

in our lives today.

Secondly, we know that many of you also love these kinds of videos so we keep making them.

And, you know what?

We like these kinds of subjects too… so… here we go.

In this video, we have a pretty interesting combination: BMW, Germany and China.

As we mentioned here at VisualPolitik, Germany is the mother factory of the world.

The country where machines and the things that go into the things that other countries

produce are manufactured.

And of course, of all industries, the automobile industry is, without a doubt, the most famous

and most peculiar.

We all know that brands like Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, Opel and Audi are German.

And this is because Germany isn't only one of the largest car producers in the world,

it is also considered the cradle of the first car.

You heard that right.

In 1885, an engineer called Karl Benz, tried to place a combustion engine into a three-wheeled

chariot:

This was known as the Benz Patent-Motorwagen and was able to reach the astounding speed

of 16km per hour.

In total, 25 units were manufactured and in one of them, Bertha Benz, Karl Benz's wife,

made what is considered the first car trip in history, for a distance of actually 94

km, which isn't bad By the way, have you noticed something?

Back then, there were of course no gas stations... so how did Bertha Benz refuel?

Well, by buying a petroleum derivative in pharmacies, ether.

Yes, that's right, we could say that pharmacies were the first gas stations in history.

But... of course, that's not the reason why cars in Germany are so important.

You see, because more machines are always needed, the automotive industry, my friends,

is one of the most productive and most capitalized..

So… what better place to manufacture them than Germany, the country of machines?

However... despite this... let's just say that in recent times the German automotive

industry, and the European automotive industry in general, hasn't been the most popular

one.

(IN DANGER OF EXTINCTION?)

In recent times there has been a widespread feeling that the traditional automotive industry,

and especially as we said European manufacturers, will be the big losers of the upcoming electric

car and autonomous car revolution.

Because, who would want one of those old companies when we have fresh and innovative companies

like Tesla?

I talked about it here, on VisualPolitik, not so long ago.

Despite never having made money and producing very few cars, Tesla has a market value that

is as large as that of BMW and which is far superior to companies such as Renault or Peugeot.

How is this possible?

Well as we saw, basically because many investors consider that in a few years, Tesla will literally

take over the market.

And here, my friends, is where some questions arise:

Will the electric car transition really be that quick?

Are European manufacturers too late to join this revolution?

I don't know what you think, but some information at least doesn't seem to support these ideas.

See:

"According to a recent study from the IFO Institute, Europe owns almost half of all

patents related to the electric car, leading the world ranking, and being well ahead of

countries such as Japan (23%) and the United States (18%)."

Iván Martín, President and Chief Investment Officer of Magallanes Value Investors.

Well, let's assume that Elon Musk is right, and Tesla manages to overcome all the problems

that currently affect it - for example, the production of Model 3 – and thus fulfills

his most ambitious forecasts, managing to sell 2 million cars in 2022.

This means that he would have to multiply his production capacity not by 2 or by 5,

but by 20 in just over 4 years.

Well, in that same year, at least 110 million vehicles are expected to be produced in the

world.

Honestly, considering the strong growth of the middle class in emerging markets, I would

bet on far more vehicle production than that, but...

OK, let's be prudent and stay with that number

Out of those 110 million cars, no more than 20% are expected to be electric cars or plug-in

hybrids

So, what would that mean?…

well, that in the best case scenario, Tesla would have a market share in the industry

of less than 2%, and 9% in the electric car market.

In other words, my friends, we could say that the cards aren't dealt yet and that even

if Tesla's best forecasts are met, there will be many more companies in the market... companies

such as BMW.

(A GERMAN ICON)

BMW is one of the great icons of the German industry.

Robust, luxurious and technologically advanced cars.

Who doesn't want a BMW?

See, in 9 of the past 10 years, this brand has been the world leader in premium cars.

And the truth is, my friends, that this is quite interesting.

See, this company, besides owning BMW, also owns Mini and Rolls Royce, and at the time

of publishing this video has a market value that is very similar to that of Tesla, about

50 billion dollars.

Despite this... both companies have many, many differences.

While in 2016 Elon Musk's company managed to sell 76,000 cars while losing 770 million

dollars; the German company sold 2,360,000 cars and had a profit after tax of more than

7 billion dollars.

Yes, I know, some of you may now be thinking:

Wait, wait, Simon, this isn't a fair comparison, Tesla is currently investing in research and

developing new technologies; while BMW makes the same cars they've been making since

the beginning.

Well, it isn't quite like that:

In 2016, for example, the German group invested more than $ 5 billion in research and development.

Meanwhile, Tesla's investment was 5 times smaller, slightly less than $ 1 billion.

And, of course, a lot of that investment is going, where?

To develop electric and autonomous models.

"BMW to spend $237 million on battery cell center."

Reuters

And that's not all.

Here's a question, and don't google it and cheat.

Which company, BMW or Tesla do you think is going to sell more electric cars in 2017?

Now many of you are probably betting on Tesla, by a lot.

Right?

Well... wait just a second..

Because the truth is that, taking both electric cars and plug-in hybrids into account, both

companies are actually very close.

And it does look like Tesla will win, but by very little.

In fact, both companies are expected to close their 2017 sales with approximately 100,000

electric cars.

Yes, okay, I'm sure some of you would argue that Tesla has stored a lot of its Model 3

cars, which in principle translate into sales for the next few years.

"The Model 3 will be new territory for CEO Elon Musk and Tesla as a company.

The sedan has already received at least 400,000 pre-orders."

Business Insider.

That's true, but the German brand also hopes to improve its numbers.

In short, as we always say here at VisualPolitik, the future, dear viewers is by definition

uncertain.

Tesla could be a great company, but it won´t be the only one.

The truth is that, by selling almost as many electric cars as Tesla; by investing 5 times

more in R&D; and by earning a cumulative profit of more than 30 billion dollars in the last

five years, I think we can say that BMW is, at least a very important competitor.

In fact, it is surprising that both companies' market value is practically the same, considering

that expectations for one are so much higher than they are for the other.

Especially when in recent years BMW has become a major, and very important player in the

Chinese market.

(THE GREAT CHINESE MARKET)

Since 2007, and despite the international economic crisis, the BMW group has managed,

in less than 10 years, to increase its number of cars from 1,500,000 in 2007 to 2,367,000

cars in 2016.

And of course, that translates into more income and also more benefits.

See, BMW's net benefit, that is, the money that is left for the company after taxes,

has more than doubled in this period of time.

Check out this graph:

Having seen it, we could say that things have gone quite well for this company.

Well... one of the pieces that has greatly aided this progress is actually China, yes,

China.

Take a look at how their market has evolved:

In 2016, it managed to sell half a million cars, out of which 300,000 were manufactured

in China itself (through a partnership with a local company), and 200,000 were imported,

mostly from the factories that the company has in Germany.

In other words, 1 out of every 4 cars sold by the BMW group is already in China, a market

where the automobile sector will surge in the upcoming years, along with its middle

class.

Well, the fact is that beyond any comparison with Tesla, BMW's Chinese adventure shows

us a couple of things:

The first is that, far from what is usually said, China could be a great source of opportunities

and wealth, something which incidentally, we have been mentioning on VisualPolitik for

a long time.

Each year 80 million Chinese join the middle class and that... has very clear and obvious

consequences on their ability to spend.

Secondly, it is very common to hear politicians of all backgrounds arguing that in order to

export more, the currency needs to be devalued.

Well, Germany says quite the opposite.

What is required isn't a cheap currency--it's competitiveness and good products.

But we will talk about that another time.

Now it's your turn, if you had to choose, which company would you bet on?

Tesla or BMW?

At the end of the day, as we've seen, both have very a similar market value.

3 TIPS to becoming a Great Filmmaker - Duration: 6:16.

If you want to become a filmmaker what are the three things you can do

immediately to get your hands dirty into the industry

I have worked really hard to reach this stage it's been 10 years of starting the office and slogging and

hustling and but I've started when I was 23 I'm 39 you can do the math

So today is the first day back to work and I'm super duper excited because in two weeks

we are gonna actually officially move to our final destination basically our

final office which will be a filmmakers Heaven office, a sleeping bed, and a hair

salon, and my own private office... Finally after like 10 years which is absolutely amazing!

I can't wait to show you the interior design so we got a company to

sponsor it and we will find out whom very soon

finally after months of agony

And you know being in Media City for 10 years moving to my new office Nayla Al Khaja Films.

Where we're gonna be filming a lot of vlogging everyday youtubing and

doing very interesting films whether it's a music videos, corporate films, or

TV commercials; Nayla Al Khaja Films... this doors gonna change its not gonna be

this ugly Brown door, It's gonna be a glass door... Again it's work in progress so I'm

supposed to meet my sponsors... ID design oh they're here!

Hi Guys!

The new design team

Quickly tell me who you are!

I'm Nisha ID designs marketing, Adrian ID design as well

May ID design!

Nayla: May is an interior designer so the office will be powered

by ID design and we're going to show you exactly when the new accessories come in

the new furniture comes in and the view here is really gonna be lovely

so ID design is the actual store that's gonna power my office and I want my office

to be super super cozy when people walk in they're like oh wow this is so

relaxing not too relaxing that you can't work you can still work

Adrian: Merry Christmas!

So I'm going to pretend that I didn't know he was going to get me something. (This is so fake) Thank you so much!

So I got my first Christmas gift from ID design I can't wait to open this we're gonna unbox it

together later...

so these are the guys that are working now office still in progress

this will be my room this will be a glass door here

and this is our chill-out room where people can sleep, beanbag, still work on

the progress this is Angelina's favorite room it's

our post-production room it's gonna be pitch dark with soundproof walls

beautiful grey color coming in...

haha got you on tape!

And this door will be

changed to a transparent glass door and this is where we'll have the awards corner

PA sits here and the waiting room

I want to make sure that my vlogs

are not blabbing and talking rubbish but

actually you kind of get something out of each episode so the last episode was

fluff actually it wasn't we did the review on "The Sinner" if you haven't seen that

go back to the last vlog and watch our review on "The Sinner" and there was a

really funny husband-wife catfight

so and then the second thing is the episode

before that if you've missed it we spoke about way WAVO.COM so if you're a

content creator basically license your content and pay for it then they are the

right people and W-A-V-O dot com they don't buy your IP rights so you still own the

content but they just actually buy they license it for you for a specific amount

of time what other things... so today when I go to

the office I'm gonna be meeting one of the producers that I met actually during

the Dubai Film Festival which is a very important distribution company but they

also co-finance..

look at this madness I had a meeting by the way remember at

3:00 with a producer for my film and I missed it I missed it it's 3:35 she was

extremely understanding I'm really sorry about this but this traffic hasn't moved

we are like driving on eggs

two hours later

this is why I missed my meeting

because the roads are flooded

I'm hungry again and we've been stuck in this

insane traffic

if you want to become a filmmaker what are the three things you can do

immediately to get your hands dirty into the industry one find out next to your

neighborhood or anywhere or contact the Film Commission in your city find out

what's being filmed and volunteer it's the best way to get in, make contacts and

also experience what it's like to be on set maybe it's not for you, maybe it's

for you that's the easiest way to crack in the industry contact your film

commission next to you, find out what films are being shot, and volunteer on

set after that you'll find out what department you're attracted to and then

I can tell you much more what you can do but trust me going on set and

volunteering as an intern will help you a great deal

Coz they are gonna help me furnish my office my new office

and it's my second Christmas gift... although...

What is this?

What do you think it is?

Bubble Wrap! Hey you love bubble wrap you can start poking this

bubble all day Helen has a fever... This is her

therapy; she does this all day

if you like popping bubbles all day long

put a thumbs up for bubble popping!

Ok let's see what the gift is.

Aw It's a pug!

oh my God how cute this is!

It's cute!

that's really nice! (Helen: Strawberry colour)

you can put coins!

It's so pretty! And I'm going to put it on our

lovely coffee table stay exactly where you are (Don't move!)

The Real Reason Why Tipping Should Be Abolished - Duration: 4:48.

For most of us, it's second nature to go out for a meal and expect to add an extra chunk

of change when we're paying the bill.

But tipping is actually more controversial than you might've thought.

In fact, it may be better to get rid of the practice completely.

Here's why.

Unfair pay

Did you know the minimum wage for servers in the majority of the United States is $2.13

per hour?

And that it's been that way since 1991?

Sounds crazy, right?

But it's true, and it's standard practice.

The idea is that servers will generate enough money from their tips to make up for that

crappy wage.

Before tips, a waiter or waitress only makes $17.04 during an entire eight-hour shift.

It's easy to see how important those tips are.

"That's 15%"

"That's 13%.

These people depend on tips for a living."

Employees who don't make enough money are supposed to be compensated by their bosses.

But that isn't always a guarantee.

The US Department of Labor reported a whopping 84 percent violation rate of employers not

making sure their employees received proper payment.

Customers aren't always fair

One of the worst problems with tipping is that some customers just don't do it right.

Some people, for example, might not understand that tipping should be based on percentages,

so they'll put down a few bucks without calculating anything.

Other people simply don't believe in tipping, so they won't leave anything at all.

"I don't believe in it."

"You don't believe in tipping?"

And then there are some people who are just downright cheap — lots of them.

And it's always the server who ends up shortchanged.

In those cases, it would be better to have the service charge built into the cost of

the meal.

It enables discrimination

Putting the power in the hands of customers leaves some workers at risk of discrimination.

One study showed that African-American servers are tipped less than their non-black counterparts.

Another study showed that black cab drivers are tipped one-third less than their white

counterparts.

There's also the issue of gender.

According to a report by the Restaurant Opportunities Centers United, the restaurant industry is

"...the single-largest source of sexual-harassment charges filed by women with the Equal Employment

Opportunity Commission."

That's an appalling fact, and managers and co-workers aren't the only offenders.

The people most likely to sexually harass waitresses are their customers — 78 percent

of waitresses reported that customers made lewd comments or have harassed them in some

way.

Uncertain income

If you work for an established bar or restaurant that's always packed, chances are you're doing

pretty well, wage-wise.

And you can probably predict your income with relative accuracy.

But if business isn't booming, servers may have no idea how much they'll make each week,

which makes it that much harder to plan for other bills.

It's hard to argue in favor of tipping when it creates so much uncertainty.

After all, not everybody tips like Ross.

"I tip way too much, way way too much, it's a sickness, really."

Unequal power dynamics

Too often, folks assume that servers and bartenders aspire to do something else professionally,

or that they're just doing these jobs on the side while they're in school.

This mentality feeds the misconception that service work is unskilled labor.

Edward Frame, who earned a six-figure salary working at a three-star restaurant in 2012,

said that tipping "...encourages people to think of service like a perk — something

extra — and not a career for millions of individuals."

If tipping were abolished, the power dynamic between customers and servers would be vastly

improved.

Divided tips

When you leave a tip for a server or bartender, you usually assume it's going to the person

who served you.

But some establishments pool their tips, especially if the amount of money spent by different

tables varies.

One party might jack up the bill with appetizers and booze, while another table could be a

family with small children on a tighter budget.

If tips are pooled, the server with the cheaper table gets as much as everyone else.

And that's good, but it does make problems for the customer, who's basically paying everyone

else at the restaurant.

And if there are genuinely bad or lazy employees, that could drag tips down for everyone.

That just doesn't seem fair.

Servers bias

Just as customers can discriminate against their waiters, servers can also be biased

toward their customers.

According to one report, white men tend to get better service than women, people of color,

the elderly, foreigners, and young people.

This is likely due to the server's expectation of what kind of tip they will receive from

different people, although servers can be as racist or sexist as anyone.

Taking tipping out of the equation could get everyone treated more equally.
