Hello everyone, this is Goutham, recently I made an unboxing video of the OnePlus 5T
and as promised, I'm here with the complete "How To Root Tutorial of The OnePlus 5T
if you haven't watched my video yet, you should watch it now. so let's go ahead and see
How To Root The OnePlus 5T without any delays, as you can see the phone is
running Android 7.1.1 Nougat based on Oxygen OS Version 4.7.2
you should tap on the build number in order to get into the
Developer options and now enable OEM Unlocking, Advanced Reboot and USB debugging
The things which you will have to keep ready in your hand for which
I have mentioned the link in the description are the ADB drivers setup you will have to
install this in your PC system-wide and the Command file which will have the
commands to be executed in order to unlock your Bootloader and install the
TWRP Recovery and here I'm taking the Magisk stable version 14.0
You can also go ahead and try the beta versions like 14.5 which
also works very well and the TWRP recovery is by Blu_Spark and he also
has this custom kernel in case if you want to try it out
alright now let's install the adb drivers in your system double-click it
do you want to install ADB and fastboot Type "Y" and Hit "Enter" install ADB
system-wide Type "Y" and Hit "Enter" installing ADB and fastboot system-wide
ok, done. Do you want to install device drivers? Yes, Sir! I do, Type "Y" and Hit "Enter"
next finish and we are done with the system-wide ADB Drivers. now let's
close it now open the file explorer go to your system partition which is
probably the "C" partition you will see a ADB folder at the top, cut it and paste
it inside The "OnePlus 5T" folder for your convenience
Okay, Now the Phone part, let's go to the Bootloader or the Fastboot menu, hold the
power button hit reboot this is the advanced reboot menu which we have
previously enabled hit the bootloader now the phone is booting to the fastboot
mode as you can see the bootloader is locked. I have to warn you here by
unlocking the phone you will erase all your apps data and internal storage so
make backups if necessary now that your phone is in fastboot menu it's time to
connect your PC now go to the ADB folder which we have created earlier and hold
shift right-click your mouse and open window here this will open the terminal
window now type "fastboot devices" and hit Enter" inside the terminal window you
will see your device below if it is correctly connected now open the command
text file which you found it in my drive and copy the "fastboot OEM unlock" command
and paste it inside the terminal and hit enter
after executing the unlock bootloader command from the PC your phone screen
will look like this this is the unlock bootloader menu use
volume keys to scroll through "Yes" or "No" and select power button and selecting
yes will give you a warning message which means that your phone is now
unlocked!! yaay Congrats! it will show you the wiping message and it will reboot
several times so don't panic about it give it a good time after the phone
boots up do the setup process quickly it's time to flash the TWRP and Magisk
after doing that go to your build number enable the developer options by clicking
on it multiple times go back go to developer options you can see that the
OEM unlocking state is saying that bootloader is already unlocked, success!
enable Advanced Reboot and enable USB Debugging, "ok"
"Always allow for this computer" okay now let's copy the TWRP Image file inside the
adb folder and the magic script to the internal storage of your phone now let's
go to the fastboot mode as I shown you before now copy paste the "fastboot flash recovery"
from my command text file into the terminal window hit the "T" alphabet and
"Tab" key the terminal will automatically detect the image file which is in the folder.
After flashing TWRP from the pc do not switch off the phone
if you switch off the phone your stock recovery will be black again and you
will have to flash the TWRP again so, use your volume buttons to select to the
recovery mode carefully and use the power button to boot into the "Recovery Mode"
You will see that message as long as your bootloader is unlocked now the
phone is booting into the TWRP recovery which is by the mighty Blu_Spark select
"Never show this screen during boot again"and - swipe to other modifications now
it's time to flash the Magisk file which you have copied earlier to the internal
storage of the phone so before flashing the Magisk file go to "Backup" and backup
your "Boot" partition in case anything goes wrong if the phone is in boot-loop
you can just go to the recovery again and restore the boot partition you will
just be fine now select Install scroll down and look for the V Magisk 14.0
in case if you have copied 14.5 select 14.5, selected and "Swipe confirm to flash"
ok now the magic's file is flashing, its altering the boot partition basically.
After it's done reboot the system unlock your phone you will see the message
manager installed in your phone you can find it in your app drawer it is used to
grant or deny root permissions check logs and stuff which you will have to Master it :P
for proof's sake let's see if the phone is rooted or not open the root
checker app click verify and grant the Root permissions, Voila! Root access is
properly installed on this device so that's it guys it's pretty simple now
your phone is rooted you can Play God with your phone. Congratulations Guys
now you're successfully rooted your OnePlus 5T (yaay) in case if you are stuck in the middle
of the process I'll leave some useful links for the XDA Thread below where you
