sure haven't I seen this before we do have competitors yeah okay so why are
you different than the other ones well for one I want to just point out we came
out January 2009 we didn't start seeing copycats and imitators until about 12 or
18 months after that you're the doers to do this yes but there's no way to
protect it it is not utility patentable constant by to our numbers David
absolutely we've sold two deep 250,000 beer tents five million dollars in sales
this year no no no total so they sell for 20 bucks apiece typically uh
typically 25 to 30 how much have you sold in the last year sales last year
nine hundred and thirty six thousand which was an anomaly for us we had a
down year the prior year - that was 1.3 million and 1 million also maybe means
it's flowing it couldn't I doesn't like that last year was a tough year for us
because we were in a expensive legal battle let me explain what happened so
our competitor claimed that they had a design patent and one of our Styles
infringed on that design but what was the end result everyone walked away
don't you spend in legal fees to walk away in the $150,000 so 25 to 35 you
sell it for what is a caution to make average cost is about four dollars and
fifty cents but you know we range because we have such a wide range of
products that one cost 950 to make profit margins are between 25 and 35
percent net income net income margin after compensation everything so we have
very very strong right so you're making 250 300 $50,000 here yes how do you
what retailers will learn about 400 to 500 stores brick-and-mortar stores this
season it's seasonal it goes in for the fall right through the spring
well I think it's mostly holidays David I took a flier many seasons go on to
tipsy elves guys learn a lot about that business made a ton of money we did make
a time money we signed a licensing deal with colleges by the way there's only
three companies you need to go to to get to all the colleges yep but the sales
were always like this well we had 1 million 1.3 million
we had the down year and then this year we're going back up everything has been
100% financed through profits from day one the first four years of this
business ran it completely out of my bedroom apartment but eventually we
outgrew that and I had to get a real office and now we have a warehouse and
we're really moving product we're at a point now where we can actually scale
and give all the reasons to buy into this business you've got all the magic
ingredients you have great margins you make 250 year and you're self financed
good for you you're so good guy but here's the rub I really have to love a
product and I don't get this
David look I think you're grinding you're hustling you're doing a good job
with it um for this to really be worthwhile as an investment there's got
to be an angle to get it to scale to be a 1020 million dollar business and I
don't see that the Mount sometimes with products they're a genius
idea yeah really cute they hit the market they blow up they
have a huge rise but you peak and then it starts to slow down because
everybody's had it and they're looking for the next funny thing to talk about
her to do right I mean we've been around for a little while so certainly the
people that kind of freaked way to the type of you know website that we might
advertise to might have seen us at this point
but I think one we have five percent of our business business coming from kids
and look at these kids really adorable right is that new for you it's it's not
new it's just something that we haven't really gone into so much I'm a one-man
show and sometimes I have to focus on other things it's basically on me it is
a really cute idea but their fad so for me I'm not going to invest but
with your mind I think you could come up with that next best thing because you
did it phenomenally one time yeah so I'm out but I'll be watching you
hey I'm gonna prove you wrong and I'm glad you're gonna be watching I mean
that's really why we're trying to get why I want to be in the tailgate in the
sports fan market because this is a consistent market right this is
something that's one multi-billion dollar a year David I hear you on the
tailgate thing I look at it sort of my model for shark tech deals is I want to
at least see a path to a potential 5x on my investments but to get 5x tailgate
has to triple your business you got to get the 7 million in sales I mean that's
a trust thing you won't do it I just it's a tough road I understand look it's
just I'm not excited enough fair enough to David I'm out okay thank you then
there was one shark who's involved in drunk elf sweaters well with that what
you're doing Robert yeah you know when the tips yell come on they were doing
600,000 a year which I found amazing in ugly Christmas sweaters we'll probably
do 15 mil this year Wow yeah so we've had that trajectory here's the challenge
you spiked you have that but you flatline you know sales don't lie I
wonder if your growth is being absorbed by other people but like the other beer
guys or somebody else so I wonder if you're not running fast enough well say
we need to move faster that's why we're here we get a shark we can move faster
you've already seen it with tipsy LSU see what they can do with a similar type
of concept and we can do the same thing
