Hello everyone, welcome to my channel!
I wanted to share a thought with you that's been on my mind for a few days
because I just can't stop thinking about it and
I simply can't understand why christians in Russia treat LGBT people so horribly.
I know that it might have sounded a bit strange,
because you are probably thinking that
of course it's written in the bible that it's a sin
so many christians think that it's a sin and that they have to hate LGBT
so that's why they all hate gay people
But I guess I have to clarify my thought and what I really mean
and why exactly I can't understand why russians treat LGBT people so poorly
Many of you probably know that christians were persecuted during the USSR period
I grew up in a church that was founded by someone who spent 18 years in Gulag jail
One of the scariest jails in russia or back then USSR
He spent 18 years in jail for simply believing in god
and I think that anyone can believe anything they want.
If he doesn't want to believe in a god - that's his right, he's a free person
If he does want to believe in a god - go for it
almost everyday, when I was little i'd hear terrifying stories about
the USSR government would sent their spies who would
spread horrifying rumors about how terrible christians are
They'd say that christians eat flesh and drink blood and of course they'd have no idea what that really meant
Nowadays it's no secret that christians don't drink blood or eat people
because it's simply symbolism from the bible where jesus says "drink my blood and eat my flesh"
I'd like to call for your attention here -
the thing is that all these misunderstandings and hatred toward christians
only happened because these spies would distort the facts about christians
doesn't that remind you of something?
yes, that's exactly what christians now do to LGBT
but there is one difference here..
because many of those spies who wanted to say something bad about christianity
very often became christians themselves
and why would that happen? Because they'd learn that
before they were given distorted facts
and when they'd really find out what christianity was
they'd understand that everything they were told was nonsense.
that no one is actually eating flesh of another human or drinking their blood
just think about it - those who wanted to say something bad about christians either became christians or started supporting them
in other words, knowing the truth about a group of people you can't hate them anymore
if at least one christian went and actually got to know an LGBT person
they wouldn't be able to hate them
I don't know a single person in my former church in Russia who would truly want to know
what LGBT community goes through and what difficulties they face
Now when christians in Russia and everywhere in the world distort the facts about LGBT people
they do exactly the same as what the USSR government used to do when they'd distort facts about christianity.
In North America people have a saying that
bullied often becomes a bully
It's weird that people always need some kind of outlaw
or someone to bully or hate
Christians don't understand that they are acting the same way as they were treated in the USSR
they think that they were persecuted,
but they use the righteous judgement of the Lord when they treat LGBT people badly
It's an obvious double standard, so "we were bullied
but what we're doing with you know isn't bullying
we're doing something great, we aren't bullying LGBT
we just want to get rid of them, bomb them for example
Imagine how heartless one has to be to think like that about humans
to not even attempt to understand them
because not a single christian, not a single one I know personally
didn't go and tried to understand LGBT people
There is only one thing that can change the thinking of any person
It's seeing human and humanity in another human
Persecution of christians, jews, muslims, buddhists - it's terrible
No one should suffer for their views
but the issue is that now there are people who are suffering because of other people's views..
and for some reason russia just can't understand that
your views are your views, but you can't force me to believe what you believe in
For example I believe that there is a dwarf living in my wardrobe
I truly believe it, with all my heart
Maybe i'd even seen it
And this dwarf says that no one on earth is allowed to wear jeans.
Imagine how horrible it would be if I was telling people that they are sinners for wearing jeans?
It's the same with the bible
and I know that many christians won't understand what I'm talking about right now
because.. sometimes it's difficult to get through to some people
But I hope that those who are listening will hear me
and they'll understand that your views - go ahead, believe whatever you want
even till death
but you can't force me to believe what you believe
I truly hope that at least some of you will understand
that you simply can't force people to believe what you believe.
just like in the USSR people couldn't force others to not believe in a god
it's just not right
and now people are forcing others to believe in a god, it's also not right, it's the same thing

let's come together and try to understand why people hate on those who differ from them
and why LGBT people became the new scapegoat.
again, these are just my thoughts
and i'm still not sure why exactly christians,
who talk about love, acceptance, and
loving your neighbor like yourself
but when talking about LGBT they just brush it off
and say "they're all sinners, don't talk to them, don't try to understand them"
and lastly i'd like to say that
we need to try to see humanity and human in the person
we're talking to
