letting go of insecurities coming up next
hey everyone welcome to Wednesday's with crystal I'm crystal Sparks I'm so glad
that you are watching hey if this your first time here I'm so glad that you are
watching this at each week on Wednesday I put on a new video and my channels one
purpose is this is to help grow your faith and to help equip you to
accomplish your dreams and your goals hey this Friday on November 17th I am
releasing my book and I am so excited my book is called
even after and it's living life on the other side of insecurity I'm so excited
about this it has literally been a labor of pure love and I actually had gathered
a group of women together in the summer of last year and whenever God gave me
the idea for this book and I was like hey would you just do this study with me
I feel like God wants me to put this to paper and so we did a study together
over the next six weeks focusing on Leah's life out of the book of Genesis
and what God did was absolutely amazing and so from that I took that study and I
made it into a book and I've been working on it and I cannot wait to get
this into your hands you know I'm passionate about this because I believe
that my life really can be separated into suit two segments and the time of
my life where I was absolutely riddled with insecurities to the time that I
finally got set free of that and I gave myself permission to be me a hundred
percent me unapologetically just for who I am and whenever I began to do that it
was amazing how things began to turn around in my life
you know I went from being on the back road to now being on the front row and
speaking at conferences I went from listening to other people go after their
dreams to being able to tell about how God's fulfilling my dreams I went from
sitting and disqualifying myself from every opportunity to now saying yes I
will absolutely do it going from feeling like I had no friends and that nobody
would ever love me to now having so many amazing people in my life see the sad
part about insecurity is it makes you see what isn't there how do
you remember those house of mirrors whenever you are a kid recently we went
to the State Fair with our kids and we had so much fun and in one of those big
trailers that they have there is a house of mirrors and a few years back they
wanted to go in there and they laugh so much because in front of one mirror
you're really tall and skinny in front of the next mirror you're ten feet wide
and in front of another mirror you look all curvy and there's one mirror where
there's looks like there's a thousand of you right and you're going through all
these different things and it's just changing what you look like and I
thought about it you know when you live your life through the lens of insecurity
that's the way your days are some days you wake up and you feel like you're
tong skinny and then the next day you wake up and you feel like you're ten
feet wide next day you wake up and you feel like you can't find yourself
anywhere the next day you wake up and it seems like nothing is working right and
it seems like your perception of yourself is constantly changing but the
one common thread between every different perception of yourself is it's
not the real you the interesting thing in the house of mirrors is it never
shows you a real accurate picture of who you are it's always just slightly skewed
always just a little bit distorted why it's it's playing with what you see to
affect who you think you are and this is exactly what the enemy does all our
entire life you know I so much of my life I spent feeling like I was less
than not good enough in fact I'm sure my story's a lot like yours I can look at
pictures of myself from high school and from middle school and I look at them
I'm like this is such a pretty girl like why didn't somebody tell me how
beautiful at what I was and I remember even when Brian and I got married I was
so riddled with thoughts of insecurities as I walked down the aisle that day I
felt like I was overweight that I wasn't pretty and I look back at those pictures
in my size zero' y'all and just little bitty skinny and I remember thinking I
remember I thought I was fat then here's the thing is that the enemy is speaking
to us all of our life and he knows if he can change what we can see we will
change where we're going because we don't see the world as it is we see it
as we are and when we see ourselves as victims then everybody looks like the
person that sent to abused us when we see ourselves
as a loser we see everybody else as the winners when we see ourselves as ugly
and no-good then we see everybody else is coming into a firm that's exactly
what we are so not getting invited to the party not getting friended not
getting invited to go to different things getting the decline on your
school application all those things just affirm what you already believe is who
you are and friend let me tell you God never intended you to live your life
that way I love this scripture in Psalm 27 verse
1 it says the Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear the Lord is
the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid you know so much of my life
was spent being afraid of what people would say about me I remember there was
this girl in school and she was the girl everybody wanted to be everybody loved
her everybody looked up to her I remember watching her come into class
didn't seem like she never had anything misplaced she always had the perfect
outfits on her hair was always perfect her accessories were always perfect she
was cheerleader she was in the homecoming court it was like everything
every girl always wanted to be she was and of course she sat by me in almost
every class all the way through middle school in high school and I remember
just thinking man if I could just be her time went on and I graduated high school
and I was working at a gift shop going through college and one day I had a
letter waiting for me there at the front desk when I go back for my lunch and
inside that letter was a letter from that girl and she wrote to me and she
said crystal all your life you wanted to be me and I always wanted to be you and
I read that with just big tears streaming down my eyes and I thought you
know my whole high school time my whole middle school time I always felt like I
was less than and not good enough and while I was looking over the fence
wishing I was her she was looking over the fence wishing she would be me and I
thought how sad that is to live our life in that way because the truth is all our
life God is whispering the potential of who we are
he's whispering to us who he says that we are but the N
me is shouting the Bible says that he comes in like a roaring lion seeking
whom he may devour John 10:10 and the truth is his roars are really loud and
his roars have this one objective is to be louder than God's whisper he wants to
roar so loud that you're not good enough he wants to roar so loud that you're
never going to make it but God's whispers are always rooted in truth the
enemy's roars are always embedded in lies the gods whispers are empowered to
motivate you and motor buys you into your full potential the enemy's roars
condemn you keep you hiding it wants you to shriek back and not step up God's
whispers instruct specifically they always tell you specifically who you are
and the enemy's roars conspire to diminish your hope God's whispers
empower change but the enemy's roars are aimed to take you out
God's whispers speak his word over your potential to bring forth your full
harvest the enemy's Wars come at you to tell you that your tomorrows are going
to be worse than your yesterday's so you friend let me tell you God never
intended for you to go through your life looking down feeling bad about yourself
to live your life and a victim mentality it's time for you to live your life on
the other side to begin to see what God sees to begin to believe that he really
did create you on purpose and for a purpose I love this quote by Steven
Pressfield in the war of art he says the amateur
believes he must first overcome his fear and then he can do his work the
professional knows that fear can never be overcome he knows there is no such
thing as a fearless warrior or a dread free artist I love that so much friend
let me just tell you that God has got great things for you and it's time for
you to live a happily even after it doesn't mean that the insecurities go
away it doesn't mean that all the things that you think about your life are
flawed and imperfect doesn't mean that those things magically go away but it
means that you begin to step out and do them anyways you know I love the story
of Moses and he had a stutter and I love that God
chose to use him even with his stutter he took what Moses
was insecure about and he made it into a strength I love the scripture that says
his strength is made perfect in our weakness I want to spend time with you
in this book and I want to unpack it for you and show you all the ways that you
can begin to step out and do what God's called you to do it's gonna be released
this Friday and it's gonna be so awesome to see what God does I believe that God
has a happily even after ready for you it's time to live life on the other side
of insecurity hey thank you so much for watching I want to give a quick shout
