048 Carla & Hanna - Duration: 15:09.
After that, the connection got cut off
Unfortunately, it was no longer possible for us to trace the call
And, uh, other than that - any mention of names, or...?
Based on the recording, we're proceeding on the assumption there are at least two men involved
Judging from their voices, middle-aged
So, the kidnappers realized that Carla had made contact with the police?
Yes, sadly... Therefore, we can't rule out a panicked reaction.
Presumably, that's also the reason you haven't received any more phone calls
I'm sure the kidnappers are looking for a new hiding place
But... they wouldn't have done anything to Carla and Vanessa, would they?!
They need the two of them alive in order to back up their demands
I'm assuming they'll be back in touch again soon
Which is why we would like to install a tap on your phone
The kidnappers explicitly demanded that we keep the police out of this
Do whatever you think is right, but please be careful!
Good
I, uh... I don't know how that could have happened with his mask. I, uh...
It really wasn't intentional, really!
It's all right
But I saw his face!
I can identify him. They'll never let us go! Never!
Vanessa!
You heard what the one guy said. They're going to kill us.
If so, they would have done it by now
They're probably just conferring about how they can still get their hands on the ransom money
Or we'll be lucky and... they've fled without us
You think?
But... then will anybody even be able to find us?
They'll find us, I'm sure of it
I think when the police trace a call, they're able to narrow down the location pretty exactly
You're really all right
Yeah well... I always just thought...
... you were just some arrogant bitch
Then I guess that makes us even
Because what I thought of YOU in the beginning, I'd better not say
Then uhm...
Then you aren't mad at me for screwing up so badly, earlier?
No, I'm not
You've been demonstrating real fortitude
I'm glad you're here with me
That can't be!
I'm sorry, I...I actually wanted to tell you earlier, but...
... the security precautions
No, I don't believe it!
I've already packed my things. We were going away for a few days. Just the two of us, and we WILL!
Hanna, I promise you. The police are doing everything in their power to get Carla back, you don't need to worry.
Is there anything we can do?
Wait it out
Oh God, oh God...OH GOD, she must be so afraid!!
== Oh God, oh God. == It's going to be okay, Hanna.
So, as we discussed...
As soon as the call comes in, please try to maintain the connection as long as possible
Keep pumping them. For example, about the exchange location.
Ask them about the hostages' condition. And very important: ...
... request that one of the women be allowed to talk on the phone. Okay?
Exactly! I want to speak with Vanessa, tell them that!
And whatever you do, don't let them know the police are involved, okay?
Mr. von Beyenbach
There is one thing that would interest me
When you found out about the abduction,... why didn't you contact us immediately?
As I already said - I was under strict instructions to leave the police out of this
It seemed too dangerous to us to violate that command
This is... this is about our daughters' LIVES here!!
Of course we would have informed you, as soon as Vanessa and my sister were safely home
Mr. Schudt, give me your word that you won't take any risks!!
Count Lahnstein, my team is trained for such missions, and we will be able to ensure the greatest possible safety of the hostages
Well hopefully!
And obviously we're assuming that you'll capture these lowlifes
As a general rule, the chances are very high that we'll nab the kidnappers after the handover
The tape is running. Stay very calm.
Von Lahnstein
Good afternoon, Count Lahnstein - Brandner here
I wanted to ask if there's been any news regarding the construction work. We need to plan out the next few days.
I can't say at the moment. I'll call you back, Mr. Brandner.
This waiting... it's driving me INSANE!!
Please calm down
I don't WANT to calm down!! Those bastards have my daughter, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!
Mr. von Beyenbach, please
I'll tell you one thing: If anything whatsoever happens to Vanessa, I'll kill the guys!!
Hi
Hello
Can I do anything for you?
Thanks
I know how much Carla means to you. And what you're going through right now - it must be terrible.
I think for Father it's even worse
This feeling of powerlessness
Father needs you now, more than ever. Promise me that you'll be there for him.
Yes, I promise you
Do you hear that?
They're coming back
It might also be the police
NO! No, it's them - they're going to blow me away!
Vanessa, stay calm!
They aren't going to do anything to you! In order to get the ransom, they need us alive.
What are you going to do to me?!
You'll see soon enough
The worst part is not being able to do anything for her
My daughter is suffering the torments of hell, and I...
... I'm sitting here doing nothing
I'm sure they'll make their next demands soon
And once they have the ransom money, they'll let Carla and Vanessa go free
If the kidnappers figure out that the police have been brought in! I...
... I don't even want to think about that
The police will make sure that nothing happens to either of them
If only this were all over!
Johannes is really on the ropes, isn't he?
Yes
Good thing he has Cécile right now
Remember: as long as possible.
Von Lahnstein
Listen up, there's been a little change in the situation
So now we're doubling our demands. We want TWENTY million euros in ransom money.
== Twenty million! == Yes, twenty million. Are you hard of hearing?
No, no, the... No, the amount isn't the problem.
I...I will arrange for that immediately
However, I would like to be sure that the hostages are doing okay
I'd like to speak with my daughter
Hello? This is Vanessa's father, I want to speak with her THIS INSTANT!
How could you DO that?!
Dad? It's me.
They won't do anything to us if you guys do what you agreed on
Hello, my angel, you - listen, don't you worry, we... we'll do everything to get you out of there, all right?
Get us out of here! Please, Dad, I saw one of their faces, they're going to--
What?
Hello?
Vanessa got a look at one of the kidnappers
And?
== Negative. == Damn it!
If Vanessa really saw one of the men without his mask, then...
Then both of their lives are in huge danger!
Right, and the kidnappers won't be able to let them go free!
Please, all of you, calm down! I understand how distressing this kidnapping is for you, but...
... you can count on the fact that we will be doing everything humanly possible to--
Yeah, fat chance! Then maybe your SWAT team that's out combing our grounds should try hunting down the criminals!
For that, we first need to know WHERE the kidnappers are. We need clues!
Well, but you have that cellphone call now. You must be able to trace it SOMEHOW.
== It was too brief. == Well, and now?!
Now we have to wait for the next phone call
Wait, WAIT, of course! What else!? That's about the only thing that's successfully happening here.
I think it's best if we ALL stay objective
Goddamn it, Hartmann!
Pick up!
You want to kidnap your own fiance...
Well, that's what YOU'RE going to do
Where is Carla?!
The way it looks, she stood us BOTH up last night
== Did she have some other appointment? == Well, she had to take Vanessa somewhere...
Vanessa!
If you touch so much as one hair on my daughter's head, then God help you!
This is Vanessa's father, I want to speak with her THIS INSTANT!
Dad? Get us out of here! I saw one of their faces, they're going to--
What?
This wasn't part of the deal, buddy! Not this!
You doing all right?
I'm here...
You can lean on me again, if you want
Thanks
I uhm... I need to apologize to you
For what?
When I moved into your place, I uh...
... I borrowed your perfume
Once we're back at Königsbrunn, you can just buy me a new one
Do you really believe we're getting out of here?
Yes, I'm sure of it, as soon as they have the ransom money...
They're going to kill us
They're going to simply kill us
No! They want the money, and my father is going to give it to them.
There isn't going to be any handover!
They're going to kill us!
Get up!
Unlock'em
Hey! We could still take the dough and disappear, hm?
It's a done deal, I already told you!
The little one saw you!
I'm positive my father will pay
I guarantee it
And Vanessa won't say anything, either, she promised me!
Right, I won't!
CUT THE BABBLING!! Now get moving, we have to get out of here.
I think the woman's telling the truth, the old man will pony up
Are you really that stupid, or do you just act that way? And now get them out of here!
Yes, you did understand me correctly
Twenty million, the amount has gone up. In small bills, of course.
Yes, the whole procedure remains as we discussed. And this operation is top priority.
You call me. Okay, good.
Where do you think you're going?
I believe that's MY business, and it has absolutely nothing to do with you
Just a moment! In this situation no one leaves the castle. Certainly that should be obvious.
I need fresh air! And now you will excuse me!

Today, we're going back to France.
Before I start, subscribe. I currently have six subscribers,
and when I reach ten, I'll be throwing a party with 'coxinha' (Brazilian snack), and Kool-aid.
In 2008, archaeologists excavated 'Chateau Anet' surroundings, in France,
and they discovered, next to a monument dedicated to Diane d'Poitiers, bones that might have belonged to her.
But who was Diane d'Poitiers?
For those who watch the sitcom Reign...
The Sitcom Reign...
For those who watch the sitcom Reign,
She was Henry II mistress,
but obviously the show didn't focus on their story because the main plot is about
Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots.
But Diane's story is very interesting. I won't tell much about her life here, I'll be brief,
because what actually matters here, it's her death!
Diane d'Poitiers was born in 1499 in France,
and very young was married to Louis de Brézé, Comte de Maulévrier.
He was 40 years older than her.
The couple had two daughters, and she started working as lady-in-waiting for Claude, Queen of France.
Queen Claude gave birth to her son, Henry, and DIane was there to help with the delivery.
So she held her future lover in her arms.
While still very young, Henry lost his mother.
And also while still a child, he had to be exiled in Spain with his brother,
because his father, King Francis I was facing diplomatic issues,
and this was the solution of the problem.
Until he was exiled, Diane d'Poitiers was the woman who took care of him as he was a son,
and that gave him all the love and attention the king never gave.
Time passed, Diane became a widow, Henry went back to court.
At fifteen, he got married to Catherine of Medici, and after his brother's death, he became king.
He adored Diane, and he wanted to marry her.
But due to his marriage to Catherine of Medici, that was only about politics,
they became lovers.
The King loved her so much that he used to compare her with Diane, Roman goddess of hunting.
He loved her so much that granted her the title of Duchess of Valentiois,
the Chateau Chenonceau, a gorgeous palace in France,
lots of jewelry, and even her outline stamped in a coin, a huge honour at that time.
Is that the only thing you can do, people? This joke again?
I'm lying, I don't have a team of producers.
I'm here, by my self, recording with my mobile camera, on the top of a dinning room chair,
with a CD rack that I use as a tripod for the phone.
The king died at 41, after an accident during a tournament,
and Catherine of Medici was able to finally ban his mistress from court.
She took away from her the castle, the honours, everything she could possess.
Oh my!
Well, let's see her beauty rituals...
Diane d' Poitiers was drop-dead gorgeous, had a magnetic intelligence,
and was a woman that everybody admired at court.
And being almost 20 years older than the king, she was very worried about preserving her youth and beauty.
And how did she manage to do it?
During the 16th Century, existed a very famous potion that helped keeping a young look.
So along with her daily exercises like riding horses, hunting and swimming,
She took the potion that physicians prescribed. It was very famous and largely used.
And it was exactly what killed her.
This potion was made of gold chloride and diethyl ether, ans mercury, to purify it.
No, not this, the other one. Right.
This whole mixture resulted in a yellow and hot liquid. Ewwww.
British Medical Journal published an article explaining a little bit of the potion's composition.
And how it damaged Diane d'Poitiers and probably many women of the time.
They were able to get a lock of her extremely thin hair,
a characteristic of poisoning by gold and presents anemia.
And when they examined this lock of hair, they were able to verify that the quantity of gold
inside her body was 500 times above what a body can bear.
She took so many doses of the potion, that she died at 67 of intoxication.
Another one of the beauty secrets that is told she had was a very interesting mixture.
Hello, I'm chef Gabriela and today I'll show you, modern 16th Century courtesan,
how to maintain a perfect smooth and clear skin.
First let's gather the ingredients. I already put in here melon juice, fleur-de-lis and sugar.
Now I'm adding a cucumber, and I'm going to mix.
And the main ingredient is a pigeon.
This pigeon is very small, but we'll use it.
The pigeon meat must be ground and everything must be distilled
You can be sure that your skin will look marvelous.
But how did her body end up in a common grave?
Maybe Catherine of Medici, during a jealousy outburst,
dug up her body from the original place, and threw it inside the gommon grave?
Nope.
During French Revolution, in 1795, her grave was unfortunately desecrated.
For both France and Europe, for Freedom, Equality and Fraternity,
but unfortunately there were tombs of nobles being desecrated,
such was the dissatisfaction with European nobility at the time.
They removed Diane de Poitiers from her beautiful tomb at Anet Palace chapel,
and buried her inside this common grave that was discovered only in 2008.
Her body had been embalmed for the funeral,
but when it was dug up, it unfortunately decomposed.
Luckily the revolutionaries decided to cut a piece of her hair,
and that was the way the high levels of gold within her body.
But was her body recognized?
Firstly by the pelvis, recognized as a pelvis from a woman.
Secondly because the body presented a fracture she suffered from an accident.
And thirdly by her jawline. A very characteristic shape that appeared in her portraits.
Making it able to compare.
In 2010 her bones were finally buried back inside its original place,
and she will finally rest in peace, now I hope for all eternity.
If you like this video, thumbs up! If you don't...

Mueller Closing In On Donald Trump Jr.? - Duration: 6:26.
WE HAVE AN INTERESTING NEW WRINKLE IN THE DONALD TRUMP
JUNIOR TRUMP TOWER MEETINGS TODAY WHICH IS NOT GETTING
A LOT OF COVERAGE.
HAS TO DO WITH THE RUSSIAN LAWYER THE THALIA SAYING THAT AT
THAT MEETING DONALD TRUMP JUNIOR HINTED THAT HE MIGHT BE WILLING
TO PUSH TO CHANGE A MAJOR SANCTIONS LAW TARGETING RUSSIAN
OLIGARCHS IN EXCHANGE FOR DAMAGING INFORMATION ABOUT
HILLARY CLINTON WHICH IS SIGNIFICANT.
WE KNOW IT IS ONE OF THE MAIN POLICY GOALS THAT VLADIMIR
PUTIN AND HIS REGIME HAVE IN THE UNITED STATES.
WE KNOW AT THE MEETING THAT WAS ONE OF THE REASONS THAT THEY
SOUGHT OUT THE MEETING WAS TO TALK ABOUT THAT ISSUE ABOUT
ADOPTION AS IF THEY CARE ABOUT THE ADOPTIONS.
AND APPARENTLY IF SHE IS TO BE BELIEVED THAT IS WHAT THEY
DISCUSSED.
WHAT SHE SAID HE SAID WAS THIS.
SO HE'S BEING COY.
SO IF YOU DON'T REMEMBER THIS INITIAL STORY –
SO HE WAS FULLY AWARE OF WHAT THE OBJECTIVE OF THE
MEETING WAS.
THEY GO – SHE SAYS I HAVE THIS DOCUMENTATION.
AND HE SAYS MAYBE WE CAN GET THAT OVERTURNED IF WE GET
THE POWER.
I WOULD SEE THE EMAIL BY ITSELF IS GLOSSED OVER BUT WITH
THAT, THERE SHOULD BE A TERM FOR THAT.
ESPECIALLY WITH HOW MUCH IT HAS BEEN IN THE NEWS, COULD WE HAVE
A TERM?
WE HAVE LIKE 50,000 WORDS IN THIS LANGUAGE AND WE
CAN'T COME UP WITH SOMETHING.
>>MAYBE QUID PRO QUO OR TIT FOR TAT?
>>AND THEN BEAR IN MIND AGAIN – THE SUMMER ROLLED AROUND AND
TONS OF DAMAGING INFORMATION ABOUT HILLARY CLINTON GOT
RELEASED.
IT IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE AT THIS POINT THAT THE RUSSIAN
LAWYER IS MISREMEMBERING OR PURPOSEFULLY LYING.
BUT IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT WHEREAS PREVIOUSLY
WHEN SHE HAD COME OUT AND TALKED ABOUT THE MEETING DONALD
TRUMP'S LAWYER WAS QUICK TO SAY THAT SHE WAS INACCURATE OR
LYING OR WHATEVER.
IT'S NOT LIKE HE DIDN'T SEE THIS, AND THEY ARE NOT
TALKING ABOUT IT.
THAT IS ODD.
>>IT'S
NOT JUST DRAWN OUT OF A UNIVERSE OR OUT OF THE ETHER EITHER.
WE KNOW THE MEETING HAPPENED AND NOW SHE IS GIVING YOU A
QUOTE FROM THAT MEETING.
AS JOHN SAYS, IT MAY NOT BE RIGHT.
WE TRY TO BE FAIR TO THESE PEOPLE THAT WON'T CUT A
BREAK TO ANYONE.
BUT YOU STILL WANT TO BE FAIR TO THE FACTS.
WE DON'T HAVE AN INDEPENDENT CORROBORATION OF HIS COMMENTS
BUT HIS COMMENTS ARE CONSISTENT WITH WHAT HAPPENED.
AND THEY SEEM AS THOUGH THEY WOULD BE CONSISTENT WITH THE
GENERAL ETHIC IN THE CAMPAIGN.
>> AGAIN, WE CAN'T SIMPLY ASSUME THAT SHE IS SPEAKING ACCURATELY.
IF THE IDEA IS THAT RUSSIA IS DOING ALL OF THIS, AT THIS POINT
LYING ABOUT THIS WOULD PROBABLY ADVANCE THAT OBJECTIVE.
BUT THAT IS WHERE WE ARE AT.
SO SHE IS SAYING I WAS THERE BY MYSELF.
THIS IS A METAPHORIC HITMAN.
BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO THINK OKAY SO IT HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN AWAY SO
IS HE REALLY GIVING WHAT HE SAID HE WOULD.
LET'S TALK ABOUT SANCTIONS THEN.
WE KNOW THEY PASSED A NEW ROUND OF SANCTIONS ON OLIGARCHS IN
RUSSIA AND THOSE HAVEN'T GONE INTO EFFECT.
WHY?
BECAUSE DONALD TRUMP REFUSES TO PUT THEM INTO A FACT.
WEIRD, IT SEEMS CONSISTENT WITH ONE TO PROVIDE A PAYBACK TO
PEOPLE THAT MAY HAVE HELPED YOU.
OR IF NOT HE'S WILLING TO DO SOMETHING EXTREMELY SUSPICIOUS
THAT WOULD LEAD US TO BELIEVE HE IS PAYING THEM BACK.
AND FOR WHAT REASON?
OTHER THAN HE IS PAYING SOMEONE BACK.
>>IF
IT WALKS LIKE A DUCK AND QUACKS LIKE A DUCK, IT IS A DUCK.
IT DOES LOOK AS THOUGH DONALD TRUMP AND HIS ADMINISTRATION ARE
EXTENDING THEMSELVES MAJORLY TO THE RUSSIANS.
THAT IS TAKING THE FORM OF NOT ENFORCING SANCTIONS WHICH
IS REMARKABLE TO ME.
THAT IS ABOUT AS NAKED – EVEN IF THIS IS NOT LEGIT YOU THINK
YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO CREATE THE IMPRESSION THAT YOU HAVE A
RELATIONSHIP WITH RUSSIA THAT IS COZY.
>> IT WAS PASSED BY REPUBLICANS.
>>THIS IS THE MOST NAKED EXAMPLE OF THERE BEING SOME KIND OF –
AND THEN THERE ARE RELATIONSHIPS AS IT TURNS OUT WITH HIS
ADMINISTRATION AND THE RUSSIANS.

17 Cures for Writer's Block - Duration: 14:49.
Writer's block has various causes, and it can be helpful to self-diagnose the root of
the problem.
Do you have perfection paralysis, where you worry about how much your first draft sucks
or about ruining a good idea?
Or do you suffer from foggy vision, in that you're uncertain what happens next in the
story, or how in the world it's all going to fit together in the end?
Maybe the problem is simply boredom—you've lost that passion, that spark you once felt,
and now the project feels like a chore.
Whatever the cause, you can attempt to cure yourself of writer's block by trying out
different antidotes.
One: Read other people's stuff.
Go out and get your hands on a book or short story you've been dying to consume, especially
if it's by an author you admire.
Pick up childhood favorites you haven't read in decades.
Spend time browsing books, and read first pages until one snags your attention, then
gobble the whole thing down in a week or less.
If you're looking for an ego boost, choose an easy read that you know is going to be
a completely cliché, cookie cutter book; these are the types of stories that will make
you go, "Hey, I can do better than that."
You might also explore non-fiction books—psychology, science, history, memoir.
Once you've chosen your reading material, highlight or take pictures of quotes that
stand out to you.
Then, after you arrive at the last page, write a review for yourself.
With fiction, think about what the writer did well and what they didn't, and list
examples from the book to prove your point.
If it was a bad book, how would you
make it a good one?
What strategies will you pursue or avoid in your own writing based on what this particular
novel has taught you?
With nonfiction, you can list facts you learned or muse about the questions the book raised.
How might you incorporate those types of ideas into your work in progress?
Reading is the ultimate panacea because it provides guidance and inspiration.
Two: Read your own stuff.
Look at an early chapter of your novel or a draft of a short story that you're proud of.
Read it slow.
Soak it in.
Fall in love with yourself.
Afterwards, give yourself a pat on the back and say, "Dang, look how much I've already written.
If my past self can do it, then my present self can too."
If the writing sucks and you hate it, think about how you could improve that particular
scene or story.
Save the old draft, make a new copy, and revise it in one sitting or just add detailed notes
for future revision.
Then move on to write a paragraph of new material, using the confidence you've gained from
your past self.
Three: Imitate your heroes.
Read a few pages from a writer whose work is similar to yours.
If you're struggling to write an action sequence, find one in their books.
Analyze how they structure the scene.
Then, write an action scene for your story as if you are that author.
Wear their style like a well-fitted jacket.
You can find more detail about this technique in my Echo Exercises video.
Four: Write in pieces.
My brain dislikes writing in sequential order, and I'll often braindump entire dialogue
exchanges and descriptions from random parts of the story into my notes.
These are usually the juicy bits: tense conversations, cool action scenes, emotional reveals.
I keep each of these dangling scenes in a document separate from my chronological manuscript,
until I get to that point in the story, where I can then paste it into its appropriate slot.
If I write Chapter 16 before Chapter 11, I know I'll have to bridge those parts, but
it doesn't feel as daunting because I have both a starting point and a destination—it's
just a matter of filling in the blanks.
I use this technique on a paragraph-to-paragraph basis as well.
I'll write the opening of the scene and the end of it, then jump around, barfing out
whatever bits of dialogue and description come to me first.
Then I write the parts that will bridge those moments into something cohesive.
I have a better idea of where the scene is going because I've already written the end.
It's like doing a jigsaw puzzle: the more pieces you connect, regardless of where they
are, the better you can see the big picture.
You might write a random scene and later determine that it no longer has a place in the story.
But oftentimes the kernel of an idea from these early scene drafts can be recycled and
become a pivotal moment in the final draft.
Any writing is better than no writing.
Take Jodi Picoult's advice to heart: "You can always edit a bad page.
You can't edit a blank page."
Five: Make a list.
This is helpful when you have no idea where the story is going or the pacing is starting
to drag.
Open a new document.
Write a question you're struggling to answer, such as "Why does he decide to participate
in the tournament?" or "What would make this scene more exciting?"
Set a timer for 20 minutes, and list ten possible answers, no matter how stupid or out there
they seem.
If your question is simply "What happens next?" be sure to come up with crazy things
that would never happen.
The sweet mother accidentally kills her daughter; the main character cuts his own finger off,
on purpose.
This exercise will help you move beyond the obvious paths and travel down one that makes
you want to know more.
Six: Summarize.
Just thinking about your story is like a hamster running on a wheel, treading the same path
over and over.
Your ideas need to leave your head in order to go anywhere.
Say you have only a vague idea of what needs to happen in a particular chapter.
For example, the protagonist accidentally eavesdrops on his best friend and discovers
that he's in cahoots with the villain.
Expand on that summary.
Write the play-by-play, as if you're describing a scene from a movie, but include the character's
emotions too.
I've provided an example in the video description.
I always discover new details as I'm writing the summary that would have never occurred
to me with the thoughts floating around in my head.
The key is to summarize the scene into something that can be visualized—then it's just
a matter of translating that outline into description and dialogue.
Seven: Surprise yourself.
This is for when you've lost your passion for your work in progress.
What discovery would make you view one of your characters in a new light?
For example, would you be surprised to learn that a religious figure was once an atheist?
Maybe they reveal that in a conversation.
Does one character harbor an unexpected crush for another?
Show how their behavior changes when that person is in the room.
Use this new information to keep things interesting and move the story forward.
Find ways to get immersed in your world again, too.
Regardless of genre, you could create an odd tradition specific to the setting or characters.
Add an event that shakes the community to its core, like the death of someone important
who meant different things to different people.
If you need to write an interaction between two characters but you're stagnating, add
a third character or change the players involved in the scene and see if that makes you write
more.
If you have two lovers who are married to different partners and they're meeting for
a tryst, shove their nosy neighbor into the mix to add humor and conflict.
Or try changing the setting—instead of a bedroom, they could be trying to have smexy
times in a cemetery and it's really not working out.
Give yourself something to look forward to writing, especially in terms of conflict between
characters.
Eight: Talk to other writers about your writing.
Describing your story problem to someone else forces you to mentally organize your ideas,
and with organization comes clarity.
A good critique partner will provide honest and detailed feedback.
They'll help you see what you're doing well and what you need to work harder on.
When asking for feedback, be sure to ask specific questions about your concerns: How can I improve
the believability of the plot?
How can I make the protagonist more likable?
What do you think is going to happen next in the story?
In addition, other writers may provide suggestions that you would've never come up with by
yourself, and those ideas can lead the story in new, exciting directions.
Nine: Get organized.
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the number of possibilities and edits I need to make.
That's when I know it's time to declutter.
Use an organizational tool like One Note or Scrivener to create different "compartments"
for each scene, as well as for each character or worldbuilding element.
Keep a log of changes you plan to make for each chapter so that you can reference it later.
Whenever I organize my notes, I inevitably add to them and accidentally write snippets
of scenes in the process.
Ten: Research relevant topics.
Most writers tend to fall down a rabbit hole while trying to Google the best way to dispose
of a body or what have you.
This is a form of procrastination.
However, every so often, give into the urge.
Set a timer for two hours.
Open as many tabs as your browser can handle and start a fresh document . Summarize the
most useful information in bullet points.
After you've compiled all your notes, organize them by subtopic.
Say you have a character who's on the verge of starvation.
You might research the physical effects, the mental effects, and personal accounts.
You would use those subtopics to organize your notes.
Afterwards, you can write a passage from the lens of your character using those details
you've uncovered.
Starvation often causes hallucinations, for instance, so what would this character in
particular hallucinate about?
Use targeted research as the jumping-off point for writing a scene.
Eleven: Reflect.
Journal about what you're stuck on.
What do you love about your work in progress and what's bothering you?
Talk yourself through the problem.
You can also identify your strengths and weaknesses as a writer.
What parts of the writing process do you want to get better at, and what steps can you take
to improve?
Maybe you struggle with setting descriptions.
Challenge yourself to add more sensory details to your next scene.
Focus on that one aspect during the draft, then go back and edit with other elements
in mind.
It's easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of STUFF we have to keep in mind while
writing; we have to ensure the characters are consistent, the dialogue sounds realistic,
the conflict is interesting, and a thousand other things.
So, narrow it down, and choose one aspect to focus on.
Write scenes that utilize your strengths too.
If you're good at writing romance, jump into a kissing scene between characters, even
if it doesn't happen until later in the story.
Don't worry about whether or not it will make it into the final draft.
Just write.
Twelve: Change your environment.
Writing somewhere else can signal to your brain, "Okay, this place is a writing space.
Get to work."
You could try your local library, a park bench, or university study spaces.
Libraries are my favorite because you're surrounded by books made by people who also
once agonized over writing a sentence.
Let yourself be a cliché and hang out at Panera, Starbucks, or Barnes & Noble.
Sometimes even just writing in another room of the house will help your concentration.
Pretend there's been a power outage and write by candlelight in your bathtub.
If you don't want to lose the freedom to write in your underwear, you can change your
virtual environment instead.
Make the font size huge so that you feel like you're writing more pages, or super small
so you don't keep re-reading it.
Change the font style to match the mood of the story, whether it's Book Antiqua or
Calibri.
Write with pencil and paper instead of a keyboard.
Draw your attention to the act of writing by shaking things up.
Thirteen: Start a new project.
If you're feeling truly burned out, give yourself permission to explore another idea
you've been dying to write.
Develop an outline for a new novel in a different genre from the one you're working on.
Draft a 4,000-word short story and polish it until it shines.
Write a 50-word story and submit it to microfiction sites like…
50-Word Stories.
Prove to yourself that you can finish something, and never doubt your mind's capacity for
creativity.
Fourteen: Use music to set the mood.
Choose one song to play on repeat that evokes the emotions you're looking to write in
a particular scene.
Let the images play through your mind, jot down ideas, then draft the scene you've
envisioned.
For a fun, adrenaline-filled action scene, you might choose "He's a Pirate" from
the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack.
While writing a bittersweet goodbye scene, I listened to "Happy" by Marina and the
Diamonds on a loop.
Try not to distract yourself by skipping through your music library; keep your focus on the
writing and the mood you're trying to evoke.
Fifteen: Refresh.
You know how your brain sometimes starts going crazy with ideas at super inconvenient times,
such as right before you go to sleep?
Replicate that effect by letting your brain relax.
Free your mind from a computer screen and let your thoughts flow where they may.
Go for a run or a hike, play your favorite sport—anything that gets you heart racing
and distracts you.
Wear yourself out, then take a long shower or bath.
Meditate.
Clean your closet or your bookshelf or your car, something that puts you in a productive
mood.
Refresh and start your next writing encounter with a clean slate.
Sixteen: Live life.
Stories are inspired by the real world—our experiences, our emotions, the people around us.
So go out and do things.
Take a look at your local event calendar.
Learn about mushrooms on a guided hike through a local park.
Take a carpentry class.
Visit art exhibits or listen to live music that's not normally your cup of tea.
Volunteer and meet new people.
Take a day trip somewhere and try out the local attractions and restaurants.
Afterwards, you can journal about the experience in a free verse poem.
Capture the sensory details and feelings of the experience so that you can channel those
emotions into a future story.
Seventeen: This.
Exactly what you're doing right now.
Books, blogs, podcasts, and videos about writing can help you view the process in a different light.
When looking for advice, target the specific problem you're having.
If you're worried your character is flat, find resources on how to create three-dimensional
protagonists.
If you're new to writing in first person, learn the pros and cons.
There are countless resources out there, but a few of my favorites are the book Writing
Tools by Roy Peter Clark, the Fiction University blog run by Janice Hardy, and the Writing
Excuses podcast.
For more tips on overcoming writer's block, Chris Mandeville's "52 Ways to Get Unstuck"
contains a wide range of ideas.
As novelist Erica Jong says, "All writing problems are psychological problems.
Blocks usually stem from the fear of being judged.
If you imagine the world listening, you'll never write a line.
That's why privacy is so important.
You should write first drafts as if they will never be shown to anyone."
In other words, focus on generating ideas, not judging them.
When faced with writer's block, experiment and find what cures work best for you.
Some might be duds and others, well, they might just be magic.
I'll leave you with one more of my favorite quotes about writing:
"Remember that you can find the most inspiring teachers in every book you love.
Remember that you can be awash in doubt and fear and still write.
Remember that the way out of doubt and fear is through them, one word after another."
I'd love to hear about your current project in the comments.
Whatever you do, keep writing.

New Store Grocery Haul ~ Lidl USA ~ Produce ~ Freezer ~ Budget Pantry Restock ~ Noreen's Kitchen - Duration: 14:29.
Hi everyone welcome back to my kitchen we went to our very first visit at a grocery store called Lidl it's Lidl
It's a German grocery chain. That's just starting to
Come to the United States
And we have like four of them in our area the closest one to us is
About 20 minutes away so today we needed to go to the commissary and we decided to
Stop in so I thought I would just do an unpacking grocery haul and share with you what we got
All right, we're gonna get started and what I wanted to tell you was the bags you see are all the bags
I wanted to show them the thing but we shopped at this store
It's Lidl and it's another German grocery chain like I mentioned in the open
This is literally a magazine so I'm sure it's full of advertisements, but it's also full of like
ideas for the holidays so
The girls and I had a girls day
We went to lunch we went to little we went to the commissary and women grocery shopping
We don't very often do a giant grocery shop
But we really needed to do one this time so we did and Rick stayed home and watched his football game
it's mine, so I'm gonna start here because this what we're gonna have for dinner and
because the girls have a rule if we see orange chicken somewhere in the freezer section we have to try it so this is the
Little is very similar to Aldi in that everything is their own store brand also like Trader Joe's little had a lot more
Name-brand things and they did they had quite a few more name-brand things and all he does
But overall it's mostly their own house brand stuff and the milk was a dollar forty a gallon
We didn't get any but I will tell you about the organic free-range eggs because that cracks me up the orange chicken
we're gonna make - there's a one-pound package and ten ounce packages, so they're 26 ounces and
They were $4.99
They also had
general tso chicken and beef broccoli here, honey and
We're gonna have to give those try another time if we like these we desperately needed frozen vegetables
These frozen vegetables were 85 cents a bag so we got California blend
We got broccoli florets. I think we got two bags of everything yeah
California blends
not just sweet corn super sweet corn oh
I think we did get three bags of the broccoli because that's all that was in the box
and we got ravioli these ravioli were $2.99 a bag and we got the cheese they also had me and they had a
Mushroom ravioli that was five dollars a bag, but we didn't get any of those so the cheese ravioli
We're gonna give a try
And then we're gonna have to put easily
somewhere
No these out of the way, okay?
Like I said the I think I gave you prices the vegetables
We're all I think that the corn the California blend
Were 85 cents a bag and then the
Broccoli was a dollar nine a bag because we got the florets instead of the cut broccoli. I hate cut broccoli
I just I don't do it for
Pound bag of sugar was a dollar 39 and we got two bags of sugar I
Like I said, we're just doing an unpacking haul here. I got these
Tomato basil pasta sauce this is their house brand and these were a dollar sixty nine a jar
I was just thinking the other day
I wonder if I can find crostini anywhere because I have a great recipe for an appetizer
That's super delicious, and it takes crostini
So these are crispy thin breadsticks if you're not familiar, and I got coffee
We're running low on coffee so I got coffee I
Got these were
Fantastic price $5.99 for this one. Oh I got two panamanians
I didn't mean to get two Panamanians, but oh well. I got an Italian roast and this was
369 and I got a donut shop blend and that was also
369 they had a ton of different kinds of coffee they have espresso beans and
They're very very well priced. I have to say
Okay, I got this is a 2 pound bag of par-cooked rice
This is my favorite kind of rice you guys know that this was 99 cents
That's a phenomenal price because I can get a 2 pound bag of par-cooked rice at Walmart
and it cost me 269 so that's good I
Got a small bag of mandarin oranges this was
$2.49 I got 2 bags for the pant two boxes of this for the pantry
which is the deluxe pasta shells and cheese which is kind of like the Velveeta shells and
this is the white cheddar version and this was 85 cents a box I
Got some butter crackers because we're out of butter crackers these were a dollar fifty nine a box, so I got a couple of those
Knees just looked fun and yummy, and we love like gummy candies so we got these I got oh
This is called a skillet dinner, but you know what this is like pasta Roni, okay?
So we got
Butter and herb, this is telling you to add tuna
But we're probably gonna use this as a side dish
and
We got two of the fettuccine alfredo and two of the butter and herb you could add chicken or tuna and make it a complete
Meal throw some peas in there you're good to go
I don't usually buy those as I thought they were like a noodle mix and not a dinner mix
I guess I got excited and wasn't paying attention, but those were 69 cents
and
Then I got the eggs these eggs. Let me tell you these are organic free-range cage free brown eggs all right
these were two dollars and 69 cents a dozen I pay two dollars and
89 cents a dozen at Walmart for just
cage free brown eggs
the organic cage-free brown eggs are almost six dollars a dozen so 289 or
269 a dozen you betcha, I got a couple of dozen eggs because we're going into the time of year where you know?
I got some apricot preserves these were a dollar ninety-nine, and you know there's like no high fructose corn syrup
No synthetic colors, and I believe most of this stuff is GMO free so that's pretty cool. I
Don't think most apricots are going to be a problem. Anyway. We got four cans of the solid white albacore tuna
This is the little brand. This is the same price that I pay at
Aldi for this you know a similar product so dollar Oh dot or nine a can for that
I got some hoity-toity
French mustard, so that's just like Dijon mustard. What is imported, and then I got some
Whole-grain mustard these are 69 cents a jar
And then I got a couple of really fun things this looked so good. This was 229 a jar
It's a for fruits jam and it's got sour cherry strawberry red currant and raspberry in it, and it's a fruit spread
So it's low sugar. It's just got fruit and citric acid and pectin
That's all that's in here so this may be going into
A baked good a cookie a cake. I'm not sure yet, but it looks fantastic
And then I got I saw these and I thought oh
I am just gonna get those because they look so good these I think were like
The thick spread this is a green fig and honey spread
And it was a dollar fifty nine and then this red pepper spread was also a dollar fifty nine
Right, but I thought these would be this would be fabulous on a cheese board
And this would be fantastic poured over a brick of cream cheese served with crackers
so
You know when the holidays roll around its really great to have stuff like this on your pantry shelf and to make sure you have
Those little things like cream cheese or extra butter on hand because you can whip up a compound butter or you can throw some?
cheese on up on a board with some crackers and some crusty bread and this jar of
fig spread you can put in a little dish with a spreading knife, and you know you're gonna serve a
Fantastic upscale hors d'oeuvre and people are gonna. Love it and they're gonna just
kind of be super impressed with you so and
Then I have the produce that we got
Their produce was really nice
great
Doesn't have great ingredients. Well. That's good. Molly's. Just saying that the orange chicken has great ingredients. Oh, yeah
I saw these and got him for Rick. They're
Chocolate-covered peanuts, and I think of the things we bought this was kind of pricey this was 399 and so
But he likes them, and he doesn't get them very often
Molly is a nanny for a family and they have three children so these were
Were they 99 cents so we got these for them, so you can do what you're gonna do with those
Okay
These are the same
little mix heirloom tomatoes that we get at Sam's Club only in a smaller package
And I think it was a dollar ninety-nine to fourteen was it 249 this one was a dollar ninety-nine
And these are a dollar forty nine. Okay, Micah likes these little orange Tomatoes quite a bit so she picked those up. I
Have a recipe coming up that requires some really really great fresh vegetables
It's an appetizer dish, and I'm excited to share it with you
It's gonna be part of our mmm, right
it's gonna be a part of our make ahead Thanksgiving, so I needed green peppers these were forty nine cents apiece and
These tricolor peppers Molly
These
They were three twenty nine
Yeah, yeah, okay?
3:29 for that I think were these two forty nine
The cucumbers Spurs to twenty two twenty nine. I'm close guys
And then this was the last minute as we were walking out. I saw the asparagus
those are 290 they were $2.99 apiece and these are I think they are one-pound bags and
They're nice, and thin. They're not too thick I like
pencil-sized asparagus
So I
Don't know how much you think I spent for all these groceries, but there's four pounds of coffee. There are several bags of frozen vegetables
organic eggs a lot of great produce
and I
Have to tell you I was really impressed even Molly when she when she heard how much we spent where we were like wow
We'd spent a hundred and nine dollars
and I think that's really great and that included a dinner for tonight a full dinner for another night and not to mention all the
Great ingredients that we have here that are gonna see us through several holiday videos
Some snacking and some just you know regular everyday life, and I'm really looking forward to using it so
If you have a Lidl coming to your area, honestly. I think they're only on like the eastern seaboard
Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina
and
Maybe Washington DC. Is there one in Washington DC
So if you have one near you and you've not gone go ahead and give it a try
I was really kind of impressed with it. They had a lot of great frozen items. They had beautiful
Imported cheese that was really good price their meat was beautiful
And they have a lot of beer and wine both imported and domestic and it's very well priced
one of the things I went there for they were out of they had whole chickens for 69 cents a pound and
The case was empty, and I was really sad because that's a really good price
I haven't seen chickens for 69 cents a pound and I can't tell you how long
Because it as much as I like using boneless skinless chicken
I much prefer to cook my chicken with the bone-in because you get so much better flavor that way
And I think you're getting even more nutrition when you roast it on the bone
So that's my little haul. I hope you enjoyed it
If you have any questions leave them in the comment section down below
And I'll do my best to answer them for you and again if you have a little in your area
Go ahead and give them a try
I think you're gonna find them to be quite impressive, and I think you're gonna
Love it you may not shop for everything there
But I definitely think that you can round out your grocery trip on a budget by shopping there
They also have a weekly ad and they do weekly specials, and if you sign up for their app on your phone
They do send you clickable coupons that you can use when you check out and like
The orange chicken I didn't have the app at the time
But the orange chicken
had we had the app we would have gotten an additional dollar off of that that were already on sale for $4.99 a bag and
if we had had
The app we could have scanned it at the checkout stand and it would have given us an additional dollar off per bag
so it was totally it is worth it to go ahead and get the Hat and
Again like Ollie you got to take your own bags
Or you got to pay for him so and you have to bag your own groceries which I don't mind doing it all
Because frankly when I beg my own groceries can make more sense of how they're packaged so that's it
I'm gonna leave you with that. I hope you loved it, and if you give it a try
Let me know and until next time. I'll see ya

WATCH: HERO WHO PURSUED TEXAS SHOOTER REVEALS EVERYTHING - Duration: 2:20.
Millions of Americans were shocked upon learning that a fully armored, locked and loaded leftist
opened fire inside of a rural Texas Church, and killed dozens.
Now however, after the hero who chased him down has spoken out, praise and admiration
have poured forth.
Johnnie Langendorff was an ordinary Texas man, but when he was driving near the Sutherland
Springs First Baptist Church on Sunday morning, he saw something completely unexpected.
He caught a glimpse of two men shooting at one another, and immediately sprung into action.
"I pulled up to the intersection where the shooting happened.
I saw two men exchanging gunfire, the other being the citizen of the community.
The shooter of the church had taken off, fled in his vehicle, the other gentleman came and
said we need to pursue him.
And that's what I did, I just acted," he said.
Langendorff immediately got into his truck and sped off in hot pursuit of the shooter.
While he tried to escape, speeding down Route 539 going around 95 miles per hour, eventually
he came to a slowdown and got off the road.
"He just lost control," Langendorff said.
"That's when I put the vehicle in park and I was still on the phone to Dispatch."
The patriot says that police arrived within seven minutes and immediately surrounded the
gunman's vehicle.
"We led police to him.
Everybody else was headed to the church, all the other officers were responding to the
church," he said.
"From the time we actually stopped, it was about five to seven minutes."
After that, Langendorff says that the police took care of everything else.
"The police arrived and then they pushed us back and they took care of the rest.
I didn't see anything after that," he added.
Thankfully, this brave hero was there that day to help police apprehend the shooter.
As violence against Trump voters becomes more and more commonplace, many are left wondering
what to do.
Some Americans have begun obtaining handguns and other weapons for self-defense, while
others simply try to spread awareness and support our #MAGA agenda as best we can.
What do you think?

Jeremy Calvert Dumps Girlfriend We Just Found Out About - Duration: 3:35.
Jeremy Calvert Dumps Girlfriend We Just Found Out About
After months of keeping a relatively low profile, Jeremy Calvert is suddenly reminding Teen Mom 2 fans of his existence in a big way.
Most of the tabloid attention has had to do with Calverts social media attack on his Teen Mom 2 co-stars.
But in addition to Calverts most recent clashes with Leah Messer and company, hes also making headlines for the latest developments in his tumultuous love life.
Back in September, Jeremy got back together with Brooke Wehr, a reunion that she celebrated by posting a nude photo of Calvert.
(Hey, everyone marks special occasions in their own way.
That was probably the last update on Jeremys love life that most fans were aware of.
But it looks like a whole lot has changed in the past two months.
For one thing, Jeremy and Brooke broke up.
Were not sure when, exactly, because Jer was uncharacteristically quiet about the split.
But at some point, he got involved in an entirely new relationship, this one with a woman named Kristen Blake.
Calvert announced the relationship just last week with a now-deleted photo of Blake.
When true love comes together, he captioned the image.
Sadly, it seems that true love was short-lived.
Earlier this week, Jeremy posted the above photo, along with a caption that many fans are interpreting as a breakup announcement.
3 words that are way to loosely used now days and so easy to say to people.
And Im just as guilty as everyone else that says it for the most part, he wrote.
Tellingly, Calvert disabled comments on the post.
Its anyones guess what happened between these two, but the fact that Jeremy has been railing against infidelity lately might be significant.
Dude if ur fucking married or engaged dont send me fucking shit on here or snap chat like wtf.
its killing me not to call u bitches out on here, he captioned a recent post.
Get ur shit together 99% of you have fucking kids and a family stop trying to fuck it up.
Sounds like Jeremy is at his wits end these days.
As for whether or not his frustration has anything to do with his love life, we may never know.
Watch Teen Mom 2 online to relive Calverts many ups and downs.

Learn English with subtitle everyday-Creativity is great - Duration: 7:41.
Britain is a creative nation ... Art, music, gaming and film-making – you'll find it all here.
But why is it that Great Britain has more creative people,
per head of population, than anywhere else in the world?
Let's find out …
This is the London Film Museum.
Here you'll find original costumes and props from some of the world's greatest films.
Jonathan, I'm a huge fan of movies so I'm very excited to be here.
What's the idea behind the London Film Museum?
The Film Museum primarily promotes the British film industry through a number of mediums,
including original artefacts and costumes and sets.
A lot of our friends, who we've accumulated over the years,
have donated material to the museum and it is the only film museum like it in the UK.
And how did it come about?
Well, it came about because originally we ourselves are from the film industry.
We owned a prop company, a prop being an artefact or an item that is used on the film,
many of which you'll see here.
Why do you think it is that Britain leads the world when it comes to film-making?
I think primarily for two reasons.
One, we have fantastic facilities,
like the Pinewoods, Sheppertons and soon to be the Leavesdens,
and we also have the best and the most creative talent,
whether it's in front of camera or behind the camera, really.
From creativity on the small screen to creativity on the big stage …
the UK has a thriving theatrical tradition.
London's West End is the largest theatrical district in the world.
And it's not only happening in London.
Great Britain hosts one of the world's largest cultural events – this is the Edinburgh Festival.
The Festival takes place each year in August and attracts acts and visitors from around the world.
Another side of British culture that attracts tourists is the range of visual arts on show.
There are over 300 world-class museums and art galleries just in London.
This is Tate Britain - right here, in Millbank.
It's the home of British art from the 1500s right up to the present day - let's go take a look.
Tate Britain is the world centre for British art.
Some of the greatest artists of all time are British and this gallery has them all under one roof.
Tate Britain is one of four Tate galleries across the country, and the oldest.
Over the years, it's been threatened by bombing in the war and flooding from the Thames.
There are hundreds of works of art here.
These are some of the earliest paintings in the gallery,
including this portrait of Queen Elizabeth the First.
Penelope Curtis is the director of Tate Britain.
It's her job to decide which art pieces are exhibited.
Penelope, tell me about Tate Britain.
Tate Britain is the national gallery of British art.
It was founded by Henry Tate about a hundred years ago.
And what does your role involve?
I'm the director, and that means looking after everything,
but particularly the collections and the displays that you can see in the gallery.
And you have some fabulous pictures here, including this very popular one.
They say this is our most popular painting.
It's hard to know, but it certainly sells the most postcards,
but that's rather an old-fashioned measure.
What is it about British art that's so exciting?
Well, what's particular about British art is that we're an island nation,
so things become very concentrated here.
People travel from all over the world to be here; other people never leave at all,
so things that you might see in the rest of the world become more concentrated in Britain.
What's the future of British art and creativity?
I think the fact that we don't know is what's exciting about it.
Here, we can make history speak to the present and inform what people are doing now,
and that's one of our important roles.
And the future of British art is bold and exciting.
Artistic creativity in Great Britain isn't always found at museums or galleries;
sometimes it's worth taking a closer look at the walls around the city.
Street art used to be a form of protest and was often painted over by the authorities.
These days it's a celebrated art form. Some pieces are worth a fortune.
Another art form that is booming in Britain is building computer games.
The UK produces more than a quarter of the world's computer games
and independent developer Blitz Games Studios
here in Leamington Spa has created some top sellers.
Popular games like Puss in Boots, Karaoke Revolution
and The Biggest Loser are developed here.
Blitz Games Studios have a passion for games, technology and creativity.
Philip Oliver is a game developer and set up Blitz Games Studios with his brother.
Philip, how did this all start?
My twin brother and I, Andrew, started playing video games in the early eighties.
We got ourselves a 8-bit computer and started writing games just as a hobby but,
by the mid-eighties, we were actually able to sell games.
We set up Blitz Games Studios
and started employing people with the idea we would make games for a global audience,
and today we have over 220 talented,
creative people making video games for all the biggest publishers in the world.
What makes games development so creative?
Games are just a fantastic medium.
I'm sorry, but I'm absolutely hooked, and I hope so many other people are.
We are the entertainment of the twenty-first century. There are no limits.
Do you know, when it comes to computer games,
I don't think I'm very good at building them.
I'm much better at playing them.
Yes! Come on! Go up, up, up, up! Get the star! Go on! Go - Oh, no, no, ah.

iPhone X UK release - Seven things you MUST know before buying new Apple smartphone - Duration: 6:20.
iPhone X UK release - Seven things you MUST know before buying new Apple smartphone
After being announced back in September, the finally went on sale on Friday. Stores across opened their doors at 8am allowing fans to finally get their hands on this next generation smartphone.
The iPhone X is the most radical redesign of this popular device in years and, with stocks already running low, it seems the Apple faithful like what theyve seen.
So, if youe thinking of buying the iPhone X heres seven things you need to know before taking out that expensive two year contract.
1 IT HAS THE BEST SCREEN YET IN AN iPHONE The all-new iPhone X is a stunning device that features a 5.8-inch edge-to-edge screen that covers almost the entire front of the smartphone.
The clever design also means you get a much bigger screen in a phone that's physically smaller in your hand.
Gone are the chunky bezels that have graced the front of the iPhone since the original device was launched 10 years ago and this radical new look is a massive improvement over all of its predecessors.
The iPhone X also features True Tone technology which uses an advanced four-channel ambient light sensor to subtly adjust the white balance onscreen to match the colour temperature of the light around you.
This means images on the display look as natural as on a printed page, reducing eye strain.
2 THERES NO HOME BUTTON If youre wondering where the Home Button is you wont find one on the iPhone X Instead, this new device uses a unique front-facing TrueDepth camera to scan your face and unlock the device when it spots a match.
Called Face ID, this new form of security will even work in extremely low light or when things about your face change - such as removing glasses. Face ID can also be used to make secure payments via Apple Pay.
3 YOU CAN CHARGE IT WIRELESSLY The iPhone X features a stunning new glass design which now enables it to get its battery refilled wirelessly.
Wireless charging works with the established Qi ecosystem, which means theres plenty of non-Apple accessories that are compatible. These include two new wireless charging mats from Belkin and mophie which are both available from Apple.
4 THE CAMERAS ARE BETTER The iPhone X now includes a 12MP dual camera with Portrait Lighting (currently in Beta). Portrait Lighting uses facial landmarking and depth maps to capture portraits with striking shadows, spotlight effects, and more.
On iPhone X, Portrait mode gets even better, with sharper detail, more natural background blurring, improved performance in low light, and access to flash when you need it.
Apple is also boasting that its front-facing camera can take portrait selfies which blur the background behind the users face.
5 ANIMOJIS ARE COOL A another nice feature of the front-facing TrueDepth camera is the ability to send something called Animojis to your friends and family.
These colourful characters, including a unicorn, robot and even a poo can mimic your exact expressions and can be sent as short video clips via Messages or email.
Animojis are a huge amount of fun and if one of your friends has taken delivery of an iPhone X expect to be bombarded by this entertaining feature.
6 THE iPHONE X IS VERY EXPENSIVE There's clearly plenty to like about the iPhone X and it's definitely a huge update over anything Apple has produced before.
But all this technology does come at a price with the iPhone X the first smartphone from Apple to cost £999.
And, if you want the 256GB it's the first time an iPhone has cost over £1,000 with it landing in your pocket for £1,149.
7 YOU SHOULD BUY A CASE Apple has recently updated its repair webpage which includes prices for fixing the iPhone X.
Anyone smashing their shiny new phone will face a bill of £286.44 for a new screen or over £550 if other parts of the device get damaged.
Clearly, this isnt cheap but there are a couple of simple ways to avoid these huge costs.

These simple, natural remedies will TRANSFORM your skin
GREEN TEA Green and black tea originate from leaves from the same plant. Whereas black tea is made by fermenting the leaves, green tea is made by steaming them.
This stops the leaves from oxidising and preserves the polyphenols, which are packed with natural antioxidants. Green tea's high antioxidant content helps to keep the skin looking young and healthy and protects against pollutants.
GREEN TEA AND CAMOMILE FACIAL SPRITZ 3tsp green tea leaves 2tsp camomile flowers 1dsp distilled witch hazel Place the green tea and camomile in a heat-resistant bowl with 500ml hot water.
Infuse for 15 minutes, then strain and allow to cool. When cold add the distilled witch hazel and pour into a spritzer bottle. Store in the fridge and mist over your face to wake up and refresh skin after a long day.
GINGER Ginger is a rich source of antioxidants and nutrients that help to protect skin against free radical damage and collagen breakdown.
It helps to stimulate circulation so can be used to treat cellulite and helps improve skin elasticity, which over time will combat the signs of ageing. Ginger helps to lift the spirits if you are feeling stressed or anxious.
GINGER BODY SCRUB 500g Himalayan or sea salt 4cm piece of ginger, unpeeled and finely chopped 3tbsp virgin olive oil 1tsp lemon juice Put all the ingredients in a blender and pulse a few times to make sure they are mixed well.
Place in a bowl and use in the bathroom, rubbing the mixture on to dry skin with your fingertips or a coarse cloth. Rinse in warm water.
TURMERIC Turmeric is best known as one of the ingredients in curries but it has been used in ayurvedic medicine for 4,000 years. It contains oils called curcuminoids, which give turmeric its beautiful rich, yellow colour and its powerful healing abilities.
Turmeric also contains high levels of antioxidants, which can protect the skin from premature ageing and environmental stresses such as pollution and too much sun exposure. When used in beauty products it can clarify and cleanse the skin.
SKIN CLARIFYING FACE MASK 1dsp good quality honey 1dsp natural organic yogurt 1tsp turmeric powder Mix the ingredients together and apply a thick layer to your whole face, avoiding the eyes.
Wash your hands and relax with cotton wool pads soaked in rosewater over your eyes for 20 minutes. Rinse with a facecloth and warm water.
If there is any yellow residue on your skin it will wash away with a little olive oil on a cotton pad.
CAMOMILE Camomile is one of the oldest and most widely used medicinal plants in the world. It helps reduce the body's reaction to stress by supporting the nervous and immune systems.
It is incredibly calming and has a mild sedative effect. Used on the skin, camomile can treat a host of problems including sunburn, rashes and eczema. A cooled infusion used as a compress can soothe tired eyes.
RELAXING BATH SOAK 10g oats 10g oat tops 10g dried lavender 10g dried camomile flowers Few drops of lavender oil Mix everything together in an airtight container.
To use add 1tbsp of the mixture to a teapot, fill with boiling water and infuse for 15 minutes. Pour the contents of the teapot through a strainer into the tub. Soak in the herbs for at least half an hour.
ROSEMARY This fragrant aromatic herb is most often used in cooking. However it also has powerful healing and calming properties. It contains antioxidants and is believed to be a natural antiinflammatory as well as boosting the immune system.
Rosemary is a useful ingredient in natural beauty remedies for the skin and can be used on the scalp to encourage hair growth as it increases blood circulation and strengthens capiliaries.
HERBAL FACIAL STEAM 3dsp dried calendula 3dsp dried camomile 3dsp dried rosemary . Boil 500ml of water. Place the herbs in a heatproof bowl, pour the water in and stir.
Cover the bowl with a teatowel for three minutes to allow the herbs to infuse and the water to cool. Lean over the bowl, remove the cloth and drape a large towel over your head, covering the bowl too.
Breathe in the steam and let it penetrate your skin and pores. If it is too hot lift the towel. Steam for five to 10 minutes before patting your skin dry and applying a moisturising cream.

MARISA M. KASHINO :) A Capitol Hill Spa That Will Make You Teel Good About Our City - Duration: 7:04.
Written by Marisa M Cassino a
Capitol Hill spa that will make you feel good about our city
Transgendered individuals aren't always comfortable getting a massage
they are at this place if
You're like most human beings you probably felt self-conscious about something the last time you climbed naked on to a massage table
Maybe you thought about the ten extra pounds. You'd like to shed or the fact that you'd forgotten to shave your legs
Now imagine you're transgender
While you were clothed in the lobby you appeared male, but on the table. It's clear you were born physically female
What will the therapist think?
Well, she laughs asked a hurtful question
worse
Suddenly getting a massage doesn't just involve confronting a minor insecurity. It's terrifying
while studying at the Potomac massage Training Institute
Frances Reed became acutely aware of this fear while practising on transgender and gender non-conforming
Friends time after time after time for two full years I heard I would never have gotten a massage if it wasn't for you
The idea for free as soon as you reach its Capitol Hill doorstep
It's obvious
This isn't your typical Day Spa a sign on the front of the red brick Victorian row house states hate has no business here in
the cozy reception area shelves hold pamphlets for various
LGBTQ resources and health services
The intake form for new clients asks, which pronouns they prefer. He slash him
she slash her they slash them or other and
Actually, you won't see the word spa anywhere
Spas are pretty driven by the beauty myth says Reed who started the business in
2011 and now cos it with wife and business partner jessica van dyke
There's a lot of pressure to look a particular way in a spa
Reid has a thick silver hook through one year and an impressive shock of two-tone turquoise hair that resembles a cresting wave
The thirty nine year old was born female, but doesn't identify as a woman female is not the right gender marker for me
But neither is male
Some call this non-binary gender gender non-conforming or genderqueer
Put simply says read, I occupy that gray area in between gender
Read uses the pronoun Megan in six years
They have grown free body works from a one to a twenty person operation by loudly touting a message that all
Identities and bodies are welcome. I want people to know from a mile away that this is who we are
Everyone on staff including the nine other massage therapists besides Reid has undergone cultural competency training
Meaning they all know the appropriate terminology to use with clients and how to treat physical ailments specific to bodies and transition
for example
Transgender women who raise the natural pitch of their voices frequently strain their neck and jaw muscles
Transgender men who rapidly build muscle to appear more masculine can experience posture issues if they bind their breast tissue
They may suffer from chest and shoulder tension
New clients participate in consultations when they arrive so they won't have to worry about answering sensitive questions or giving uncomfortable
explanations once their appointments begin
You would want to trust going into a professional space that the therapist would handle it professionally
but that has not been true for so many people says Alex McNeil a
Transgender man. Who's been a free Body Works client for years?
It's amazing to walk in confident that the person will understand fundamentally who you are and doesn't need you to justify that
McNiel says he has tried getting a massage at a typical spa and no nothing devastatingly awkward happened. He found the experience
uncomfortable enough that he couldn't relax and enjoy it a
