Youtube daily report w Nov 26 2017

[♪♩INTRO]

The world is full of great rivalries, like Marvel and DC, or Ali and Frazier.

Science has its fair share too—just look at Tesla and Edison.

And in the late 19th Century, two paleontologists named Othniel Charles Marsh and Edward Drinker

Cope entered a feud that would eventually be known as the Bone Wars.

While trying to one-up each other, they found and named some of today's most famous dinosaurs,

but they also made some pretty big mistakes.

At this point in history, paleontology was still taking its first clumsy steps.

In 1824, a British geologist named William Buckland published a paper about some bones

that he thought were from a huge extinct lizard.

He called it a Megalosaurus.

And even though "dinosaur" wouldn't become a word until nearly 20 years later,

Megalosaurus was the first one to be scientifically described.

That's when a researcher formally writes about what makes an animal, or a type of animal,

unique, and where it fits into the tree of life.

A few decades later, in 1858, the first nearly complete dinosaur skeleton was found in America.

The Hadrosaurus was described and named by Joseph Leidy, an academic who switched from

medicine to natural history, and would play a huge part in early paleontology.

So Marsh and Cope basically grew up alongside the field.

Marsh was born in 1831 in New York, went to Yale thanks to his wealthy uncle, and ended

up studying paleontology in Germany.

Meanwhile, Cope was born in 1840 to a wealthy Quaker family.

He didn't have as much formal scientific training as Marsh, but thanks to jobs in museums,

he learned about natural history and published a lot of papers.

After the American Civil War started, Cope's father sent him off to Europe, and he met

Marsh in Berlin in 1863.

They started out friendly.

When they went back to America, they visited different dig sites.

And because they were rich, they could hire excavation teams to ship fossils back to them.

Sometimes with help from other experts, Marsh and Cope thoughtfully analyzed and published

descriptions of new specimens without stepping on each other's toes.

But soon, their friendship would come crashing down.

The feud really began when Cope was describing the marine reptile Elasmosaurus in 1868.

Instead of taking his time to reconstruct the skeleton, he raced to get some information

out in just a few weeks.

That eventually led him to misunderstand how the bones of its spine lined up.

He figured, like more modern lizards, Elasmosaurus would have a long tail instead of a long neck.

So in a figure he published in 1869, he drew its head at the wrong end of the spine.

He was publicly corrected in 1870 by Joseph Leidy, who studied the bones and noticed some

key details that Cope overlooked.

By some accounts, Marsh insisted he caught the mistake, or at the very least rubbed it

in.

Cope tried to save his bacon by retracting all copies of his paper and republishing…which

didn't exactly work.

And things got more petty from there.

The meat of the Bone Wars started around 1877, when they fought over fossils at the same

dig sites, like Como Bluffs in Wyoming, which was a treasure trove of specimens.

And they started playing dirty—spying, bribing people to switch employers, chucking rocks

to start fights, or even straight-up destroying fossils to keep them out of each other's

hands.

Between them, Cope and Marsh claimed to have described over 130 kinds of dinosaurs, among

other ancient animals.

But they rushed to publish and made a lot of mistakes, like giving new names to already-discovered

dinosaurs, or counting inconclusive fragments as a whole new animal.

For instance, when Marsh was sent the headless skeleton of a long-necked dinosaur in 1877,

he called it Apatosaurus.

But when he tried to scientifically describe the creature, he reconstructed it with a totally

wrong skull.

Then, a couple years later, he was sent another Apatosaurus skeleton with a skull, and called

it Brontosaurus.

And this naming confusion has lasted to this day.

Really, Cope and Marsh had a lot more success when they took their time with fossils, and

worked with other scientists instead of just feuding.

When Marsh described Triceratops, for example, he was only sent bits of the horns at first,

so he thought it was some kind of bison.

But when the geologist who had found the skull fossils said that it wouldn't make sense

for a lone bison to be mixed in with all these dinosaur fossils, Marsh reconsidered.

With more input from peers, Marsh thought these fossils might've come from another

dinosaur with spikes like a Stegosaurus.

And he eventually landed on the idea of a dinosaur with horns, which hadn't really

been dreamt up before.

Now, eventually, Cope and Marsh were left penniless by the Bone Wars.

And their papers had so much sniping and so little science that journals refused to publish

them.

While they did a lot for paleontology, they also were reckless and gave the field a bad

rep.

Their constant sabotaging even made Joseph Leidy quit paleontology altogether in the

mid 1870s.

So it's an interesting story, and one we've hopefully learned from.

Today we have a better understanding that science depends on things like collaboration

and sharing information—and less, y'know, throwing rocks at each other.

CRINGY THINGS PEOPLE SAY | Dolan True Stories - Duration: 7:59.

• From denying the existence of a historical figure to playing tic-tac-toe with someone's

poop, the Planet Dolan crew re-enact some of the best true stories from our subreddit

about the cringiest things people have said to us.

I'm Hellbent and today I'll be your narrator.

Number 10 was submitted by FleshTearers Spinalpalm Spinalpalm worked at a convenience store for

3 years.

During his shift one night, a surfer dude in his late 40's came in and started to

flirt with two college girls who were in town for spring break.

After hitting it off with them, they invited him to a party.

After accepting their invitation, the girls went outside to wait for him while he grabbed

a large sandwich and a large burrito.

After buying them, he looked at Spinalpalm and said, "By the end of the night, I'll

be eating the burrito out of one of these girl's assholes, and the sandwich out of the

other."

He then walked out and hopped into the girl's car.

Number 9 was submitted by reppupu Tolop One day, Tolop was walking downtown to meet

up with his friends.

As he was walking, he saw a small group of out of shape men in their mid-40's wearing

tights and homemade superhero costumes.

One of the men, wearing bright red garments with a picture of an illuminati fidget spinner

on his shirt, approached Tolop.

He asked, "Hey, do ya wanna join our crime fighting club?"

Tolop politely rejected his request.

Moments later, an elderly woman bumped into him by mistake, and he yelped just before

saying, "You won't get away with this!

You have a clever disguise, but your old woman costume doesn't fool me!"

He dabbed several times before saying, "Catch me outside, how 'bout that?"

That's when Tolop briskly walked away.

After a minute or so, he looked back and saw the old lady walking away and the man hugging

himself, crying.

He hopes the man has matured since then, but then again it wasn't that long ago.

Number 8 was submitted by HollowGhoul27 Spincess One day, during her lunch period, Spincess

and a few of her guy friends sat at a table to talk.

There was one other guy there, and none of them really knew who he was.

He just kind of awkwardly inserted himself into the conversation.

While they were talking to this guy, who already seemed like a very odd character, the subject

of milking animals came up.

As the conversation progressed, the odd kid looked at Spincess and said, "You're the only

one at this table who can actually milk yourself."

It may not sound that bad, but for Spincess and her guy friends, it was incredibly uncomfortable.

Number 7 was submitted by Paltato Andiemations During Andie's freshman year of high school,

she and her two best friends were hanging out with a guy at the library.

During the conversation, Andie started to talk about Hamilton the Musical.

It was all fine and dandy, until he said, "You know Hamilton isn't real, right?"

Seriously… he said Alexander Hamilton wasn't real.

Number 6 was submitted by Howdoyoudrawhair Pandora

Back when she was in elementary school, Pandora was known as "The Weird Kid".

Therefore, everyone made it their job to bother her.

One day, while she was getting packed up at the end of class, a little boy walked up to

her and said, "I'll give you a nickel if you tickle my pickle."

Pandora just slowly walked away without responding to the boy.

Number 5 was submitted by AGrimFate Ramona Ramona was trying to diet and exercise, and

had been sharing her efforts on social media.

One day, she noticed that a woman started to follow her efforts.

That would have been fine, except the woman would keep sending her the message, "You

want to know how to lose weight?

Drink skinny men's sperm!"

Ramona would stare at her comments, shocked.

It took 3 years for the woman to stop stalking her online, sending her comments and telling

her to join her study where women were drinking skinny men's sperm.

Ramona doesn't even know what was going on in the woman's head.

Number 4 was submitted by thisislilygaming Froggy

One of the cringiest things someone's ever said to Froggy was when she was on the phone

with her friend.

They would sometimes find pick-up lines and read them to each other.

Of course, they were only joking around and didn't mean any of them.

But one that she remembers is one that her friend said to her: "Are you my homework?

Because I'm gonna slam you on the table and do you all night."

Yep, it was cringy.

Number 3 was submitted by _marsbars__ Honeybits Honeybits worked at a well-known ice cream

chain about two years ago, and one night she was working the night shift with someone she

got along with well.

She ranted about some creeps that would often come into the store or hang around, and told

her co-worker to be careful and always call the cops if she ever felt uncomfortable.

Her co-worker agreed, saying that she wouldn't want to be raped and said she would run away

screaming while letting them rape Honeybits.

Honeybits was too shocked to call her out and avoided her like the plague until they

closed.

To this day, she still wonders what was going through her co-worker's head to say that

to another person.

Number 2 was submitted by thekeatonfox Doopie Doopie used to work retail where she would

just walk around helping customers.

One time, a kid no older than 15, who was soaking wet for some reason, ran up to her.

She figured he maybe got caught in the rain.

He demanded that she followed him, which she did.

He ran into the men's bathroom, with Doopie reluctantly following.

When she walked in, he flung open the door to the handicapped stall and, depicted on

the wall, was a picture of the earth with people holding hands around it…

DRAWN IN HIS OWN FECES!

He then dug around in his pocket, fished out a turd, and offered it to her.

He asked, ''Wanna play Tic-Tac-Toe?''

Doopie said, "Sure, hold on!"

She walked out of the bathroom and radioed the manager on duty, but by the time he got

there the kid was gone.

He was almost caught brown-handed!

Number 1 – What was the cringiest thing someone has ever

said to me?

Match of the Weekend: Valencia CF vs FC Barcelona - Duration: 4:45.

Valencia against Barcelona is currently the biggest game going in Spanish football.

Whilst other top teams are floundering, these two sides have been enjoying their best ever starts to a season.

It's a throwback to Valencia-Barça matches of years gone by, as Los Che are finally able to treat their visitors

as rivals.

It's the return of the evenly matched Mediterranean derby.

The LaLiga leaders and the side in second place collide at Mestalla, and something has to give.

Valencia want to show that their title challenge is for real, as they take on a Barça side trying to further extend

their early advantage at the top of the First Division.

Valencia coach Marcelino will have to watch on from the stands as he serves a suspension.

His arrival has seen the club take 8 consecutive wins. The most recent was a 0-2 triumph against Espanyol.

"We believe in our work and we are doing a good job. Numbers are just numbers in the end,

and we keep winning and adding points. The important thing is to work well, be happy and believe in

what we are doing."

In front of them will be a Barça side also in fantastic shape. They have 11 wins and one draw

from their opening 12 games.

Last week at Butarque, striker Luis Suarez provided another positive as he ended his scoring drought.

The negative was the yellow card picked up by Gerard Pique, which means he is suspended for Matchday 13.

Combined with Javier Mascherano's absence through injury, it means that Samuel Umtiti will have a new

partner in the centre of the defence.

Thomas Vermaelen could get his first LaLiga appearance of the year to fill the role, although

Lucas Digne or even Sergio Busquets could also cover.

"Obviously Gerard is a big loss, because he's performing at a very high level,

but there will be others who will try to replace him in the best possible way."

The main absentee for Valencia will be Jeison Murillo, although there are still doubts about

Simone Zaza's fitness. Ezequiel Garay should come in to replace the Colombian in a starting eleven that

is almost guaranteed to feature Geoffrey Kondogbia.

"We know that they are a great team and that it's going to be a difficult game –like every game, because you

have to fight to the end. That's even more true against Barça."

There is plenty to watch out for in this one. Leo Messi's brilliance, the exceptional form of Valencia's strikers,

Paco Alcacer's return home and the battle of the two best goalkeepers in LaLiga at the moment are just

some of the points of interest in a mouthwatering fixture.

Valencia will try to end a drought of more than 10 years without a win against Barcelona at home.

A 2-1 victory in the 2006/07 season is the most recent precedent, with Angulo, David Silva and Ronaldinho

on the scoresheet. The Catalans have 5 wins and 5 draws at Mestalla since then.

Last year saw a spectacular triumph for the visiting side, as they came back to win 2-3 and Leo Messi

provided an emotional celebration.

Valencia-Barça games are always special, but this time there is an air of equality about the fixture.

The title chase is on, and it is up to Barça to avoid the gap to their closest rival reducing by the end

of the weekend.

It's set to be a thriller at Mestalla in LaLiga Santander.

Preview Real Betis vs Girona FC - Duration: 0:47.

After an impressive start to the season, Real Betis have taken just a single point from their last nine in play.

A point is also what separates them from this week's opponents, Girona, in the LaLiga table.

Pablo Machin's side have only lost one away game so far, two and a half months ago at San Mames.

After his sending off against Eibar, Mandi is unavailable for Betis, and Girona have their centre back

Bernardo suspended as well.

Preview CD Leganes vs FC Barcelona - Duration: 1:47.

Butarque welcomes the LaLiga leaders.

FC Barcelona return to action with the intention of picking from where they left off before the international break.

Unbeaten after 11 games, and with a biggest slipup having been their draw at the Wanda Metropolitano.

On this latest visit to Madrid, the Catalan side are up against CD Leganes.

The team coached by Asier Garitano will be playing in front of their home fans for the first time in almost a month.

Have seen a positive start to the season stall with two consecutive defeats.

Against Sevilla and Valencia.

Now they have a third big test in a row.

"There's not much to say. They have the best players in the world and are the best

team in the world. We have to try to beat them in a difficult game, and make

sure they aren't comfortable. It's our ground, and it's possible"

Barça have only played at Butarque once, in last season's league fixture that ended in a comprehensive away win.

CD Leganes want to flip the script this year, and give the fans one of the performances of the season against the LaLiga pacesetters.

Preview Real Madrid vs Malaga CF - Duration: 1:55.

Real Madrid's recent form has left them with an uphill struggle ahead if they want to repeat their title win

from last season. Held to a goalless draw at the Wanda Metropolitano,

the gap between Los Blancos and leaders Barça now stands at 10 points, and Zinedine Zidane's side

have to hope that their rivals hid a bad patch.

Meanwhile, they themselves need to put a run of victories together. Zidane is not giving up on LaLiga,

and this weekend could be an important one for his team: Madrid are visited by Malaga,

whilst Barça have the tough test of a trip to Valencia.

Despite still finding themselves in the relegation spots, Michel's Malaga showed last time out that they are

capable of overcoming adversity and that they want to stay in the top flight.

"Besides our position in the table, we've been suffering from a bit of anxiety. However, the team are showing that

you always have to get behind them, because they give everything.

We know that all of our away games are tremendously difficult, because of their position in LaLiga,

but points at the Santiago Bernabeu count the same as points anywhere else for us."

Malaga welcome back Recio from suspension, whilst Nacho's fifth yellow card last time out means he is

absent for Madrid. Sergio Ramos' participation in a key game for both sides is in doubt after his facial injury.

Whoever plays, it is sure to be a high-energy affair with a lot at stake.

Match of the Weekend: Atletico de Madrid vs Real Madrid - Duration: 4:36.

The Madrid derby is one of the most awaited single-city clashes of the season in LaLiga Santander.

It's a game that divides the capital in half.

With much more than three points in play.

This time, the duel between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid is set

against a backdrop that make it even more of an occasion.

It's the first ever derby at the new Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

And both sides are in need of victory with LaLiga leaders FC Barcelona 8 points clear.

Defeat could spell disaster for any title challenge for the losing sie.

"It's an exciting game. We have to get motivated, prepare well and be mentally strong,

then have a great game at home in front of our fans. We have to try and take the three points for them"

On the last matchday before the international break, both Real Madrid and Atletico

managed wins that boosted them after a series of bad results.

Los Blancos blasted aside UD Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Diego Simeone's men beat RC Deportivo away from home with a late Thomas Partey strike.

"It's a very important victory. I don't think it's even the fact that we won, which we really needed,

but rather the fact that the team were competitive, hard-working and united. Despite so many

draws and bad results, the group has always kept united. That's the most important thing"

Despite the victories for the Madrid clubs, the games at the Bernabeu and Riazor did not

put an end to Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann's respective droughts in front of goal.

The two forwards are experiencing an uncharacteristic stumble in their scoring.

Griezmann has gone seven games without finding the net for his club.

Whilst Ronaldo has just one goal this season.

Against Las Palmas he turned assist provider, but struggled when presented with opportunities of his own.

"We're a team. In the end, we shouldn't look at who scores or who gives the assist. We're all pulling in

the same direction and I think that it shouldn't matter who scores as long as we win games"

Ronaldo was the undisputed star of the last LaLiga derby held at the Vicente Calderon.

The game ended 0-3 in Real Madrid's favour, and the portuguese scored a hat trick.

Both coaches will have important players back available this Saturday.

Koke, Carrasco and possibly Filipe Luis have a chance of coming in for Atletico Madrid.

Whilst Carvajal and Varane should return for Real Madrid.

As one of LaLiga Santander's showcase games takes the capital by storm.

It's the first of what will be many derbies played at the Wanda Metropolitano,

Victory is vital for keeping a title challenge alive.

It's a fixture that has history in Spain and in Europe.

It's the pick of the games on Matchday 12 in LaLiga Santander.

Preview SD Eibar vs Real Betis - Duration: 0:49.

Ipurua is the next stop for one of the unlikely standout sides of the season: Real Betis.

In a comfortable eighth place and with their eye on the Europa League, Quique Setien's

team have been making the most of goals scored by their top marksman, Antonio Sanabria.

He has seven to his name so far –one more than the entire Eibar team.

Jose Luis Mendilibar's side are struggling in front of goal, and haven't won in seven matchdays.

Preview Sevilla FC vs RC Celta - Duration: 1:13.

For the first time since leaving Vigo at the end of last season, Eduardo Berizzo faces his old side this weekend.

Celta take on Sevilla off the back of victory against Athletic Club.

There is another familiar figure waiting for them at the Sanchez-Pizjuan: Nolito.

"We know that, despite the fact that they are friends of ours and we've had nice experiences together,

this will be just another game and we will have to play well –because they are strong at home.

They aren't having a good time, so we need to take advantage of this. I think that if we play at

our best and are as solid defensively as we are effective in attack, we can do them a lot of damage"

Berizzo could have Mercado and Correa back in his starting eleven this weekend.

Celta are without Emre Mor, whose ankle injury is more serious than it had initially appeared.

Illuminated Effect using Distress Ink Resist Video Card Making Tutorial - Duration: 13:36.

hi and welcome to hedgehog hollow my name is Alexandra and today I'm here with Mei

Mei made it to show you how to create a gorgeous Christmas card we're going to

be creating a nativity scene using the resist technique and distress inks I've

lots of tips and techniques for you to make your card-making successful as well

so let's get started

so we're going to be using the celebrate the season set from Maemo major which I

made another card with a couple of weeks ago and a coordinating envelope as well

now to be linked in the top right hand corner of your screen you'll be able to

see a link to that if you would like to view that video afterwards as well so

first of all I have a piece of Neenah solar white that I have cut down to a

bit smaller than card front size so this one is three and three quarters by five

inches which makes a perfect layer with another piece of card stock and then

your card front as well I've grabbed some colors of distress inks which we'll

go through in a moment we need a Versamark we have some Ranger

blendy tools I also have my powder tool to remove static when we heat embossing

Versamark which is our glue ink and to embossing powders now I've chosen to use

the Ranger super fine white detail which I love and I'm going to also be using

some lawn fawn gold as well maybe later on for some stars we're going to start

off with that white first of all so to do that I'm

going to hold my cardstock in place and we're going to put on a tivity seen on

here so I'm going to centralize this as best as I can it's a right of a quarter

of an inch gap here at the bottom and then I'm going to be using my verse

above I said and this area is going to be quite dark by the time we finished so

we're going to start off like this and we're going to pick up our cardstock now

if you pick out your cardstock and it and pick out your stamps with your Misti

and it picks up your cardstock my cardstock was already in this bottom

groove here so I just put it straight back in there I know it's exactly the

same place I'm going to use the powder tool to remove any static that might be

on here like this and now I'm going to ink those stamps with the Versamark pad

and you can also get them in a small cube size I also do like to use those

sometimes but this is the larger size I'll link both the options below for you

in the supply list now I'm going to give this a nice firm press because this is

quite a solid stamp and so the verse is quite detailed I'm going

to stamp it twice because I just find that that gives me a better effect I'm

less likely to have any areas that haven't caught the ink in any way so

again I'm going to do the same thing and I use sort of the heel I think is the

right term of my hand here so imagine you are needing a piece of dough that

will give you the best results now if you then pick this up it may be

hard to see on camera but I can see if I've caught all of those areas correctly

I'm also going to grab this is called a tiny tray it's perfect for embossing

it's going to clean out a little bit of red powder that was left in there now

I'm going to add that white embossing powder and the same on the sentiment and

then going to heat this with my Vagner heat tool that is my preferred heat hall

now currently it's just white on white and you will be able to see when it sets

because it will turn from powder to gloss and we're going to be adding ink

over the top of this and this embossing powder is going to resist that ink which

is how we're going to end up seeing it so we've ended up with a really good

image but to firm it up I'm going to do a second layer so again I'm going to pop

my card stock in that groove that L here and I'm going to ink up my stamp with my

Versamark again and what this does is it gives you an even more solid image and

particularly doing this resist technique you'll be really thankful for that's the

beefier image I guess is a good way to describe it I'm going to do this thing

again stamp once and stamp twice and I'm going to apply that white embossing

powder again again it's another reason to use that superfine by using this

technique of stamping on your heat embossing twice it's beefier and we

don't want to use too lose rather any of that detail that's in that gorgeous

verse that we've used there's lots of verses in the stamp set and depending on

what your card is who your recipient is all those things are in thought of in

there so now that I've applied that embossing

powder I'm gonna do the same thing and I'm gonna heat it again with my bag and

a heat tool so once you've set that you'll have this

lovely solid image and I appreciate a little bit difficult to see just because

we have that white on white at the moment and I'm going to start with some

squeezed lemonade and I'm going to be using the Ranger blending tool this is

the same craft sheet that I had in my Misti I cut them down because then I

find it's much easier to clean out I misty I don't use up all that paper

although I do have some of the grid paper laminated and I'm going to start

by just creating that bright yellow on the inside of the nativity scene I'm

going to add that in first then I'm going to move on to mustard seed so

again I'm going to pick it up on my tool and I fade out a little bit on here and

now I'm going to start just on the edges of my Nativity and now we're going to

work into that fossilized amber and I'm going to use one blender for those too

some people have them and they put little velcro dot on the bottom and then

you could have one for each color I prefer to just do it in blending groups

and fun during a video I tend to start a new one anyway

so I'm going to hold here and I'm just going to start bringing that into those

edges there I always start off really light so you'll see that my colors

particularly the lighter colors I'll give them a little bit more sort of real

estate on the card then I will by the time it's finished but it's much better

to have it lighter than darker because you can always add more of the dark onto

the lighter areas but you will struggle to add the light to any areas you've

already made dark I'm going to keep that because it's a really nice transition

color then for the rusty hinge in the vintage photo I have another blendy here

so I'm going to first of all start with that rusty hinge

and again we start on our sheet and then we start blending out here I want to get

that effect like a really red shepherd shepherds delight kind of sunrise so I'm

blending back towards the middle of that sentiment trying to blend out and just

dressings are great they're really forgiving for things like this and then

I'm gonna take that vintage photo and I'm really just going to start touching

the edges first of all I'm going to start here and you can see I'm just

flicking around the edge and then I'm just going to very gently you start

touching it in because I don't want too much of that dark color until I'm ready

this gorgeous color combination you can see how rich and warm and things this is

starting to become I'm gonna add a little bit down here on the sides much

though no leave the bottom fairly light I think drag just a tiny bit through to

give it some definition but I really would like to try and keep those yellow

tones down there at the bottom I'm going to go back to that fossilized amber as I

said it's a really nice transition color and I'm going to put more over that

sentiment and just start kind of dragging that down towards the Nativity

inside that barn I want it to be really those yellows and those bright colors as

though there's that illumination of a light I'm gonna go back with the

squeezed lemonade that's our lightest tone just blend out any lines that are

in there

okay okay just pop my lids back on again and then I'm going to use my distress

sprayer to add a little bit of texture into this so I'm going to spritz it just

to the side you might be able to hear that I kind of just gives me an idea

because I want some really light spritzes what that does is it will just

add some extra texture so I'm going to leave that to dry this for a couple of

minutes while I came out my workspace and then we can add those finishing

touches and mount it up into our card so once your piece is dry you could either

give it a helping hand with your heat tool but be quite gentle with your heat

tool or eternity you could give it a helping hand with the Ranger heat it

tool which is what I did on mine now I also just grabbed a piece of paper towel

a little bit of water on it and who also was going to dry it anyway I ran it over

all of these areas so these are nice and white again nice and polished up so

they're lovely and clean and back to that beautiful white color I also

grabbed my lawn fawn black ink which is a really nice black ink to work with and

I grabbed one of the stars that come in the packet there's four different sizes

of stars to choose from and I decided I'm going to just stamp some stars

around because it was a starry night and

I'm also going to grab the smaller one which is in the middle here so whenever

I use a photopolymer I pop it down on my table if I'm using a credit block and

pick it up then I know it's not going to be walked and it's not going to have

moved around all those kinds of things

just adds a little bit of extra detail in there as well now I have pre-cut a

matting layer for this one I cut down some Kraft cardstock here and I already

have my card base pre-cut as well half a piece Neenah solar white cut in half

lengthways plus we're going to be needing some tape and I like the tonic

funky tape you have seen me use that lots of times before you'll see also how

well the Nina has taken that distressing as well I really am very impressed with

Neenah card stock overall so I'm going to pop this down on here and then I am

going to use some foam tape I'm going to use up some pieces from a previous

project first so I tend to take a long piece and this roll is huge when you

first get it it's lasted me months and months and months and as you all know I

can't make almost every day so that will give you an idea of how long one roll

will last year and I'm going to use this to give us some dimension on that card

front so I'm going to open this up pop that down and there you can see our

gorgeous Christmas card love how it says to celebrate the seasons joyous sounds

and sights and embrace the miracle of Jesus born that first Christmas night so

gorgeous card love all those colors love having the stars in the sky so many

elements so simple perfect for a beginner or maybe a quick and easy

Christmas card and of course all that water also adds some great dimension in

there to do check out the blog post where you can find all the pictures that

The "Comaneci" of Ski Jumping Gets The First Perfect 20s | Olympics on the Record - Duration: 5:52.

The Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan.

The year - 1998.

Japan's best hope for a gold medal

lay in the ski jump,

and the man to carry that burden

was 23-year-old Kazuyoshi Funaki.

It takes years of preparation to reach the final

of an Olympic ski jump event.

For decades, ski jumpers had been exploring

the most effective way to fly through the air.

Funaki thought he had the answer to that question.

So what was his secret?

To answer that question, we need to take a look

at the fascinating history of this event.

Ski jumping was the most popular spectator sport

at the 1952 Winter Olympic Games in Oslo, Norway.

A crowd of 143,000 people,

half the entire population of Oslo,

turned up to see local hero Arnfinn Bergmann

win gold for Norway.

Ski jumping is Norway's gift to the world.

The sport was first introduced

by a Norwegian soldier called Olaf Rye.

His party trick was jumping 9.5 metres on skis.

That was in 1809.

My hat. Oh.

In 1952, the sport had moved forward.

Bergmann's winning jump reached 68 metres long.

Bergmann makes his winning jump,

to give Norway her seventh gold medal in the Games.

Strength and technique had taken the sport

to another level.

All you have to do is slide,

glide and stay on your feet if you can.

In the '60s, subtle changes were made to the jumping style.

The body straighter, arms by the side.

This was considered the correct and proper way to ski jump.

A great stylist of the '70s was Yukio Kasaya,

the star of the 1972 Olympic Games in Sapporo.

Kasaya was the first Japanese to win Olympic gold.

Style is important in ski jumping

because your final score is

a mix of distance plus style points.

Five judges award marks out of 20.

They are looking for elegance and smoothness,

and a textbook "Telemark" landing.

A great jump is typically matched with excellent style,

but actual perfection was unheard of.

Judges always found fault - that's what they're there for.

Perhaps the most elegant

and successful ski jumper in history

was Finland's Matti Nykanen, the first ski jumper

to win three gold medals in a single Olympic Games.

Nykanen lifted the sport to an art form.

No-one could get close to him.

His best jump at Calgary 1988 was nearly eight metres further

than anyone else.

One who tried to get close was Czech Jiri Malec.

Malec believed that spreading his skis into a "V" shape,

as you can see here,

helped him achieve that little bit of extra distance.

Not enough to catch Nykanen,

the perfect exponent of the parallel technique,

but enough to help Malec win an Olympic bronze medal.

Unfortunately, Malec's success was limited because judges

preferred the clean lines of the classical ski jumpers

and the new V technique was consistently marked down.

And then it got scientific -

a group of Japanese academics studied the physics

behind the ski jumping technique.

They crunched the numbers. They worked out the formulas.

Calculus, geometry, trigonometry,

and the result was clear -

the V shape was the way to go.

Ski jumpers could barely switch quickly enough.

By 1992 it was the only way to fly

and the judges had no choice

but to adopt the new shape

as the ideal ski jumping technique.

The 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan,

took the V technique to a new level.

The big Japanese favourite was Kazuyoshi Funaki,

coached and mentored by the legendary Kasaya.

Using the modern style,

Funaki had some of his mentor's elegance in the air.

Having won silver on the normal hill,

Funaki's hopes for gold rested on the large hill.

It was then he achieved something never done before

in the history of Olympic ski jumping.

Funaki made the perfect jump.

132.5 metres long.

That's nearly as far as the Great Pyramids of Giza!

All five judges gave Funaki's jump a perfect score,

20 out of 20.

Style, elegance, landing - they just couldn't find fault.

A perfect score like this has the same odds

as getting a bull's-eye blindfolded,

with both hands tied behind your back.

Steady skis - tick,

balance - tick,

body position - tick,

landing - tick.

The jump was enough to win Funaki gold

in front of his home fans in Japan.

His extraordinary jump that day remains the only perfect mark

in Olympic history.

Number 1 – What was the cringiest thing someone has ever

said to me?

The Bone Wars: A Feud That Rocked U.S. Paleontology - Duration: 5:03.

Universes Erased, The Final Four Universes - Duration: 4:02.

Hello and welcome back all my dragon ball theorist and the greatest love we had ever

seen with a ceremony siphoning love power to Ribrianne to transform into her giant form

happened.

Leaving everyone on the stage amazed at what was going on.

I did get some laughs out of this and this episode will spin off meme's for awhile at

that is a good thing.

Obviously with the magical love girls out many people are rejoicing today.

So Universe 2 is in a terrible spot despite having 3 fighters left but they are messing

with Goku and Universe 7 and that doesn't end well for anyone who has tried.

Now it is interesting that Goku says he is trapped in a black hole in the preview and

I really was hoping that Zirloin was actually the strongest for Universe 2.

I really thought that Ribrianne shouldn't of been anywhere near the strongest fighter

but since that is the case Universe 2 ended up being pretty much fodder and an overall

disappointment this tournament.

Never found out yet why they have a Yardrat and in the end Frieza tortured and easily

defeated him, so my expectation for their remaining fighters is very low and it looks

like they will all indeed get eliminated next in the tournament.

With that said Universe 6 also looks to be next so which goes first is uncertain but

everything points too both these Universes being eliminated.

I made a video months ago that Universe 6 could be next because they just used all their

resources on fighting the strongest fighters at the tournament.

If they took an approach like Universe 4 or 3 they would still be in it.

So some severe miscalculations on their part and soon Champa will be saying goodbye to

Beerus.

Universe 6 with many favorite characters and development will be missed and seeing Cabba,

Hit and everyone disappear will probably be the climatic end to this episode.

So I believe Universe 2 will be erased first to build up for this dramatic moment where

the Namekians of Universe 6 are indeed in the end defeated and we have this moment and

time to grieve for Universe 6 and the fighters and personalities that we have met so many

episodes ago.

We were introduced to Champa first in episode 28 so almost 100 episodes latter the goodbye

to beerus, vados and everyone should have this dramatic effect.

Cabba the disciple saying goodbye to Vegeta and then Vegeta saying he will wish him back.

Hit looking at Goku and wishing him luck and thinking it was such

a pleasure to meet someone in the end he could call a friend.

After this all happens though Universe 7 is then only left with Universe 3,4 and 11 to

deal with.

I don't think anyone thought these were going to be the final four.

Except they are and Universe 3 probably has something

planned and it might be entertaining but the real question on everyone's mind is why is

Quitela still so confident and not needing the Potara earrings.

Why despite everything he has seen feel confident they will survive and win the tournament.

I really can't wait to see what special abilities these hidden

fighters have and they might upset the entire circumstances at the tournament eliminating

a major fighter by surprise.

Make no mistake now though the final Universes and major battles will begin.

With that Universe 7 will also start to suffer some losses to fighters not that are just

powerful but perhaps have abilities so bizarre that they don't know how to deal with them.

We have seen it on our side that Master Roshi using the Mafuba and being able to seal away

and eliminate fighters that are difficult to deal with.

So it is possible that these remaining fighters or even hidden fighters have something so

strange they start to cause issues for everyone left in the tournament.

Now I want to hear what you guys think what is the order of Universes erased in the upcoming

episode?

Is there anyway for either Universe to survive? and how do you think the hidden fighters will

make their debut and against what fighter?

I always love to hear your theories in the comments below and don't forget to hit that

like button and please subscribe to support the channel and keep those theories coming!!

Step Up. Show Up. - Duration: 0:55.

Step up. Show up. Hey everybody, this is Bob Cargill. Step up. Show up. They say that

Woody Allen said back in the day that "80% of success is showing up." It sounds

easy, but sometimes it's not. Sometimes we're intimidated.

Sometimes we're daunted. Sometimes we're frightened. Sometimes we are hesitant.

But we got to push on through. We got to take that leap of faith. We have to show

up sometimes. Just showing up translates into success. You can't make the team

without showing up for tryouts and practice. You can't get a job without

showing up for the interview. So what you have to do day in and day out is give it

Rise Against visiting FC St. Pauli Teaser - Duration: 0:41.

So with a band like Rise Against, what we've done is we've taken music and

we've taken ideas of change and awareness and kind of put them together

in hopes that they reach people. And I think music is a great vehicle for that

user is a great way to reach people. It's powerful and it's effective and I

think that in the sports world - harnessed in the right way -

you can reach a lot of people with a lot of really good ideas.

Sports don't need to be apolitical.

How to Make Your Logo Bounce ft. Squash & Stretch (After Effects Tutorial) - Duration: 4:40.

Hey what's up video editors it's Premiere Gal here and in this video I'm sharing

with you a new and easy animation tool for Adobe After Effects.

It's called Squash and Stretch and it enables you to add quick and fast

animations to text, shapes, lower thirds, logos, and much more in just seconds.

You can get squash and stretch from aescripts.com. There's a free version which

comes with 10 behaviors and 91 sound effects. The pro version though comes

with 61 behaviors and 350 sound effects and with the pro version you can add on

additional behaviors and sounds later on. There is currently a cyber monday sale

going on so be sure to check out the link below. So let's go ahead and make a

logo bounce using Squash and Stretch. In After Effects I have a 1920 by 1080

composition and in that composition I have my Premiere Gal logo as one layer.

So first select the logo in your composition then go up to window and

select extensions and open up the squash and stretch panel I'm going to drag the

panel next to my project panel to make more space in my workspace. Now let's

click on select a behavior and this will launch the squash and stretch gallery

where you can preview all the animated behaviors available. I like the dancing

drop so I will select that behavior. Before you hit apply you can adjust the

Squash & Stretch intensity which controls how deformed the side-to-side

movement of the animation is and the Oomph which controls the height and the

velocity of the animation. So I'm going to reduce the oomph to 50% and reduce the

Squash & Stretch to roughly 80% then I'll move my current time indicator in

the comp to the point at which I want the behavior to end and then I'll hit

apply. Make sure that the layer is selected before you press apply or you

will get this warning and then in just seconds you will see that Squash

& Stretch automatically applied a series of keyframes to my logo to make

it drop in and dance so I think it looks really good but let's add some sound.

Squash & Stretch is one of the few plugins that I know of that comes

preloaded with sound that matches the animation perfectly I think that this is

one of my favorite features about Squash & Stretch. So let's just go ahead and

hit Cmmd+Z (keys on MAC) to undo the application of this effect and then let's go ahead and

select a sound from the drop-down which is tailored to this animation so you can

preview a sound simply by selecting it from the drop-down and then you can let

the squash and stretch preview it for you

I like the heavy sound so I'm gonna hit apply. If you want you can also flip the

behaviors horizontally or vertically or even rotate the animation so if you

wanted the logo to bounce from the right to the left I would just hit that rotate

button and reapply. Since I'm happy with the current orientation let's go ahead

and move on to select a new out animation simply by selecting on the

behavior tree icon to launch open a side panel this is another way to search for

behaviors I like the slide-out behavior so I'm going to select that again you

can adjust the squash and stretch and the oomph.

I'll select the Rubber 2 sound and now rather than selecting the current time

indicator at the endpoint of the animation you're going to select the

start point of the behavior and then hit apply. Now I'm just going to render the

preview and let's watch it back. Pretty cool, right? And something like this would

have taken hours to create now you can do it in seconds and so that's it there

are so many different permutations to play with in this plugin so I encourage

you to check out Squash & Stretch and begin having some animation fun! Remember

that there's a sale going on so check out the links in the description box

below. If this video helped you out be sure to give it a thumbs up and on the

left click on my profile picture button to subscribe to my channel so you're

notified when I make new content every week and down below that you can click

on the button to check out all the current video discounts on my website

and then on the right just below you can choose another video tutorial to watch

thanks again you guys and I'll see you all very soon!

STEALING Q&A QUESTIONS // REVEALING SECRETS *1000 Subs* - Duration: 12:32.

we hit a thousand subscribers and we asked you guys to send us Q&A questions

How we got a 1000 subscribers, Stealing Q&A Questions, 1000 subscriber special! Enjoy!

And we got so many Q&A questions like we have a list of like

amazing questions you guys asked hi so I'm gonna scroll through the questions

probably pick the best song man no bro turn off the camera you're gonna light

it I mean so since we got only one or two questions we're gonna answer those

and steal questions from other people

who usually replies to comments but now for the fun part stealing other because

to me questions will you guys ever reunite with the dobre twins Lucas and

Marcus I love you both okay though thank you for the love first of all first and

foremost second of all awesome don't worry twins had a little beef six

steak of course we're gonna get back with another thing this Thanksgiving

this week so next we could probably go how did you two meet

all manners this is a good story I think Gary was about 1 years old I was trapped

in a cave for a really long time about like nine months and one day I escaped

the cave when I see this angel Oh looking at me it was a nice night a week

those scariest thing I've seen my life Gary runs away I was like man hi boys

what are your favorite artists at the moment all's we're gonna actually answer

this question for seriously four seriously sobbing I'm not gonna prizes

for seriously our favorite ruffs is my favorite artists yeah he's a beast one

day we'll need a watch it's harder would you ever become friends with Tessa

Brooks again dude again man I can't you guys ever miss teen 10 dude I hate

getting this question do we not stop I swear but can I just like forget about T

10 it was the past this is me tough okay so Gary what would you do if you woke up

one day and realize you're not famous and everything was a dream oh that's my

biggest urine tiger right now like like a magic waking up one day and all you

have is like a thousand glasses how has been impacted you overall as a person oh

no man is gained too much sometimes you know like you go out and you let

everyone just like running at us no yeah

who has the biggest boogers okay did you ever want to prank each

other I prank Gary twice see how does around me back I'm thinking I'm thinking

you will never see it coming cuz it's not because it's never gonna come we're

making up questions from now on what's something we did ask kids that is worth

saying in a Q&A video what are you worth saying like good

when we swam the pool as kids before coming out we used to get naked little

good time those are the greatest it's so free just like I would just toss my

students my dad would come in when I was like 17 daddy's coming dad would come

home from work and be like oh you guys are swimming

oh you're naked okay when we were kids what we wanted to talk about something

like me be like too weird to talk about in real life we'd go on our emails and

you would email each other oh yes you don't remember this I remember a lot of

things jump off jump off actually yeah we did it was not that weird

like those very weird no no it's about like ladies and stuff yeah if you wanted

to talk about like ladies at the other side of the house I never answer that

question what would they want to know you'd want to know how old we are

Tuesdays we actually got this question couple times yeah we did a lot early we

got this question a lot should we do a riddle I don't know but it is so fun

keeping it a secret so should we tell them or not I don't know you haven't

been well no it's on our Instagram were your part okay if you didn't know we're

only one year apart and the answer is living in our Instagram before you go on

things together one you guys could guess yeah I want to see you choo choo guess

how old do them this is a good question what's your biggest insecurity is it me

interesting I don't know the answer there's one I think I know what it is

which it has to be technically it has to be that yeah the fact they have really

big boogers whoa sweating like crazy when I was in eighth grade being there

got into this acting class thing and they made me shave this off or just cut

this off you want to say the word what

you're probably thinking like man how thick was it like it was thick my girls

like to look at her childhood photos thicker than you've seen before that

doesn't do it justice you look at the now imagine that yeah I can't imagine it

now like it'll be crazy no I remember it to do so thing I remember was that

caterpillar roll back your pillar caterpillar the caterpillar I can't

imagine it now so like thank God you took me to this acting class

God knows what would happen now true my mom waxed it off and you're so sash you

asked it off and I was like bro this looks so weird look like you're not used

to it there didn't have any motives yeah but technically that's an insecurity

based on the fact that if it comes back then what the heck my biggest insecurity

is being too skinny that's why I won't go just yeah this guy

has a water bottle everywhere he goes everywhere you go just you wanna know

something about me oh there's a next question next question this was

something that we always do I never even think of I always carry a water ball you

see Eric and you're like man Gary if

this one somebody thing laughs you said they have the same cup yeah so I always

carry this water everywhere I go literally everywhere I go in it what was

the question something you do they might not always do it I use this every

morning when I wake up I go like this

any time Gary's doing anything he's doing this oh I could tell that so

people like threw their nails for like stress I do this I don't know why I do

but I just like play with the edge of my eyebrows what's something we do together

that they might not know about it I don't know this is really though if you

say this yeah I don't know if you like this shit every day for 10 minutes out

of the day like 10 minutes a happy ten-minute streets

technically space it's just a minute yes time you have some family time yeah well

actually we've learned how long 10 minutes is not truth is feel yeah we

just hung for telling you straight yeah we hug for 10 minutes it's like it's a

good bonding thing and makes this happen better yeah it's right before the video

we do it before the videos it like it makes us like the best possible

youtubers we can yeah and like it's kind of like a ritual thing okay because

they're brothers okay we don't like greet each other by like give each other

a handshake or anything you don't give some magic if you see them every day

unless you do then yeah but we don't really teach

every day when he's at college but let's say I go visit there once a week when I

leave I don't say bye you just leave like I'm going and then you don't say

bye you don't do this your hug for 10 minutes yeah

are you guys like that with your brother and sister no no I think some people

wonder if we're like this off camera okay I always wonder how other youtubers

are off camera we're basically exactly like this but

unless something goes together together true together you want to know how Eric

makes breakfast Wow okay so yeah Eric gets so excited for breakfast to scream

oh it sounds like he's angry but he's not just very excited he just goes like

this is natural yes I have to explain myself

we're very energetic okay special or together we just like really just bounce

off each other what's the head like the energy bounce off each other okay

I'm very energetic I get random bursts of energy that I need to release somehow

and the only way I could release it there's like bangles so for some reason

it's right before breakfast every day I just get energy so like this doesn't

happen too often but happens often enough really standard where do you see

this channel in a year a year cuz I want to look back at this oh yeah I do too

and see where the heck we thought we were gonna be and where we were a year

from today I look like a year from today we're over in 2000 you're crazy

Rob that's true that'll be crazy I'm not daddy myself but if that's true

boy I'm gonna spend more this is the thing I wasn't mad I don't wanna look

back and like be under shock I don't care but you make you work even hard

220,000 yeah 220,000 if I'm not getting 12 to 20,000 by next Thanksgiving I'm

not thankful to myself I'm thankful to everybody else totally choked I just

didn't work hard enough true true why do you think you're gonna

get two 220,000 subs by next year I don't know how to say this without

sounding like a cocky you bragging dude it's like hardcore facts don't say

anything let me ask you one by one how long does it take the edited video okay

editing video from start to finish from start of editing to upload and ready

it's easily a 12 hour plus rise it's such a long process when it doesn't look

like it's such a loops why is it such a long process but it doesn't look like

it's such a long process one its we have a lot of footage that we cut down that's

more sometimes two we work our videos to perfection there's more behind the

scenes stuff that's not even including filming ROI yes okay a lot of things

yeah and like thinking and ideas sometimes it's like 20 basically what

we're trying to say is we work super hard for what we want and we put in the

most amount of hours that we can so that's why we're saying toward your

twenty thousand not just because oh something I don't confident in our

content true it's new you don't see it anywhere else and you're gonna see what

happens soon so stick with us yeah bitter past one to twenty thousand

I know it's even more mean if it's more than twenty twenty thousand I'm gonna

cry for you guys oh when we did a million we're sobbing like we'd never

saw before we never cry literally never not with you when it video gets like

three likes like I crumble just saw you and you watch this all the way how

you're not sub 30 right did you not see the softness maybe they don't know it's

subscribing is audience subscribing he's like this a buddy

Loki we'd even walk questions cuz we wanted to do this idea anyways if

there's any other questions you missed we always reply to your comments

prematurely unless there's some secret questions you guys want we're known was

fun if there's any other questions that you might want to ask if you're curious

feel free to leave it in the comments we might respond we usually respond to

comments leave a like if you liked it subscribe if you're new I was who's that

purpose I thought you killed a bird or something like this just die dragon into

my god how happy were but and then we don't do those sounds

yeah we did it you messed it up until next time

Oh after videos but I go like plot Razia beside you beside me beside you beside

you it's a lifetime see Wow you I eat that because the video is beast I know

that's why you do that you're like boy those bees know that's right and you do

this a lot

Anthony Martial mocks Manchester United team-mate Ashley Young after Brighton goal - Duration: 1:42.

Anthony Martial mocks Manchester United team-mate Ashley Young after Brighton goal

Ashley Young may have played a vital role in earning Manchester United three points against Brighton on Saturday,.

but that didn't stop his team-mate Anthony Martial mocking him in the aftermath of the game.

A deflected strike from the former Aston Villa and Watford star looped into the back of the net to ultimately seal Jose Mourinho's men a 1-0 lead to close the gap on Manchester City to five points.

Unfortunately for Young, the goal was awarded to Brighton defender Lewis Dunk, meaning that the 31-year-old remains without a goal in 18 months.

After the match, he tweeted: 'That was a tough one today, big 3 points in the end!.

'Come on @premierleague…. my shot was going on target, I've waited long enough for a goal.'.

His team-mate Martial was quick to jump onto Young's tweet and branded his shot as 'perfect' in a mocking fashion.

'Great goal bro the shot was perfect,' he joked.

Young took it all in good spirits and replied: 'Antoooo you know!'.

How to Get Something Great from Your Mistake - Duration: 2:42.

Recently, I've been on a bit of a home improvement kick.

After finally mastering the renovation of my carpeted stairs to hardwood, my confidence

in my abilities were high, and I began to look around the house for other tasks to tackle.

Next on my do-it-yourself to-do list was an upgrade to tile flooring in a handful of areas

throughout my house.

After consulting with a friend who had done this before, he and I decided to get our feet

wet with an entranceway.

While this wasn't a huge area, our very part-time availability to work coupled with

having to learn and relearn some skills proved challenging.

So what should have been a two-day project turned in to five, accompanied with backaches,

blisters and blood!

After taking a couple week break, my friend and I each separately came to the conclusion

that we were way in over our heads.

So I hired a professional.

As the contractor began his work, I quickly realized the difference that 30-years of experience

makes.

So I started to consider a difficult decision to have him tear up and redo all the work

we slaved over just weeks before.

As I mulled over the decision, I complained to the Lord that with all the time and the tools

already invested, it would end up costing me more than if I had just hired it out from

the start.

Shortly into my protest, I felt God deposit a word into me that made up my mind.

"Lessons learned are often expensive," He reminded.

"But in the end, they're worth the cost."

Not only did God's word help me with my decision, but His insight provided a profound

teaching point, too.

As we have all experienced, the mistakes, failures and wrong turns we make in life are

costly in all kinds of ways.

Some cost precious time.

Others result in the loss of innocence, relationships and, yes, money.

Now certainly, in and of themselves it's not the mistakes that are worth anything.

But the worth is found in the redemption that comes when you confess the mistake and then

learned the better way so that you don't repeat it.

It's the character that's built, the testimony that's told and the healing that happens

that makes the lesson learned worth the cost it took to learn it.

While I pray you never fail nor make a mistake, when you do, be quick to confess it and ask

God to help you learn from it.

When He turns the old into new … when He converts the bad into something good … when

He brings beauty from ashes … well, that's something precious … it's something priceless.
