Forgotten Realms Lore - Cormyr - Duration: 6:07.

Hello everyone Jorphdan here the PH is silent.

This has been an often requested video.

I had to do some shopping at DrivethruRPG and snag a few PDFs for my research.

If you shop with DriveThruRPG be sure to use my affiliate link.

It helps me buy more PDFs for videos like these.

Link is in the doobly do.

Today we're talking about the Kingdom of Cormyr!

Cormyr is a mainly human kingdom that lies south of the Anauroch desert and west of Sembia.

It is also known as the Forest Country and the Land of the Purple Dragon.

Cormyr was founded in 26 DR after an agreement with the Elves in the region for the humans

to create a kingdom.

Faerlthann Obarskyr is crowned the first king of Cormyr.

In fact it was the House of Obarskyr that unified this territory which is

why Faerlthann was crowned king.

They lived in a small fortified city known as Suzail, which became the seat of power

for the Kingdom of Cormyr.

It has been ruled by this family for over 14 centuries.

After its creation Cormyr grew seizing the land nearby.

The area now known as the King's Forest was once much larger and full of monsters

and bandit hideouts.

The people of Cormyr cleared out most of the monsters and were able to utilize the timber and created

settlements near the forest.

They carved civilized land out of the wilderness through grit, bravery, and determination.

Clearing the forests allowed farming to become the underlying strength of the kingdom.

The people of Cormyr made their kingdom so successfully it has left them a bit snobbish

in relation to other kingdoms or peoples.

Around two dozen major noble families exist within Cormyr, along with a few other less-known

houses.

Nobels are normally born into their house, but the King has made some noble families

by appointing protectors over areas of Cormyr.

These local lords are giving a noble title and charged with defending local farms, and

dispensing the King's justice.

Part of the success of Cormyr is it's army known as the Purple Dragons.

The Purple Dragons possess no official uniforms, but each soldier does have its own badge representing

the company they are a part of.

They were formed by Crown Prince Duar Obarskyr in part to the legends of the

dragon Thauglor centuries ago.

Thauglorimorgorus was a black dragon that lived in the forest of Cormyr.

By -400 DR his age was showing.

His black scales showed hews of violet and his eyes went from yellow to a dusky purple.

Thauglor was killed eventually in a heroic battle with the people of Cormyr.

He attacked Suzail the largest city in Cormyr but feld quickly back to the Kings Forest.

There he became engaged with a high wizard of Cormyr, Prince Azoun the 2nd, and a large

supporting army.

Using arrows to piercing his wings they grounded the dragon and attacked him with fire and

swords.

Ultimately Prince Azoun drove his family's sword into the brain of the dragon, killing

him.

The Purple Dragon Knights were named afterwards in memory of this courageous event.

There are more than 12,000 Purple Dragon Knights in the major cities and fortifications throughout

Cormyr.

On top of that are Cormyr's elite War Wizards who wear purple and black robes, and are considered

their most deadly unit in the Cormyrian Armies.

Cormyr has raised this army because of the threats to the north.

The Stonelands and the Goblin Marshes.

The Stonelands is a rocky craggy valley that makes an ideal location for bandits and monsters.

Because of this a large chunk of the Purple Dragons make routine patrols in the area to

clear out monsters.

It's rumored that the Zhentarim might be trying to organize the criminal elements of

the Stonelands and create an effort that could remove the Purple Dragons.

Magic users are very respected in Cormyr society.

They are viewed as craftsman really, sculpting magical energies almost as if it's an art

form.

Which many view it like that.

Because of their important role in the defense of Cormyr, mages command great respect and

admiration among the population.

There is a council of mages in place that advise the King.

The fear within the community is if the Council of Mages watches all and actively influences

the King who is there to keep them in check.

Some believe their power is too great and with great power brings greater threats to

Cormyr.

The most powerful class outside of the nobility would be the merchants.

They have considerable growing influence over the kingdom.

The King has been focusing on eradicating thieves guilds and smugglers to keep trade

fair, safe, and open.

Suzail I mentioned is the capital of the realm and often called the Crown City of Cormyr.

It is a port town with a magnificent palace, and a large labyrinthine.

Purple Dragons patrol the streets and if needed War Wizards are there to accompany the soldiers,

taking care of any internal threats to the city.

Lawlessness is not tolerated in Suzail, to the point where the King has instigated a

curfew.

He hopes this makes it clear to outsiders that breaking the law is more than frowned

upon.

Any mage with 5th level spells or greater must register with the city before entering

so movements can be tracked and intentions derived.

There are 80 foot high walls that protect the city from land attacks.

From sea the city of Suzail has a Royal Navy called the Blue Dragons.

14 major ships with 2,500 trained sea warriors; they navigate the sea of Fallen Stars for

the interests of Cormyr.

Tymora is worshiped in Cormyr as well as Deneir.

Major temples have been erected in their honor.

But you'll also find shrines to Lliira, Oghma, Malar, Tyr, and Milil.

Although I feel that Suzail is the most interesting city in Cormyr there are some other larger

cities.

Arabel is an important center for trade, with several family merchants based there.

Also Tilverton which has a maze of sewers large enough to walk through.

Beneath this town are the ruins of an ancient elven and human settlement; which are home

to many rogues and monsters.

Also powerful undead make their stay here.

Plenty to explore for a new adventuring company founded in such a place.

I hope you enjoyed this video on Cormyr.

If you've made it this far consider giving the video a thumbs up and sharing it with your

gaming group.

I'd like to thank all my wonderful patrons on Patreon that keep these videos going, if

you'd like to become a patron click the link in the description.

In the Sword Coast Adventurer's guide there are rules to play a Purple Dragon Knight and

it sounds super fun.

Have the current King or Queen of Cormyr put together a team to invade the Stonelands and

snuff out a powerful enemy that has become a large threat to Kingdom of Cormyr.

You've got the Purple Dragon Knight, a priest of Tymora, a War Wizard, and perhaps the local

ranger who brought the attention of the threat to the King in the first place.

Thanks again for watching everyone.

New videos every Wed and I'll see you all next week!

Treść listu, jaką dostał syn pani Suzan Dooroh doszczętnie go wzruszył.

Dawała im buty, koszule, zabawki i cukierki.

A balloon hanging in a room above your head is so romantic! Even if not real, but only a copy of it. But in the scale of the room, it should not be large. It should be a small object lost in the sky, carrying the traveler to uncharted distant worlds. And with it you are carried away to the world of fantasy and imagination, where fantastic creatures and great heroes live who feel free and fearless. You yourself can be one of them. You have been given obedience and elements. You will communicate on equal terms with the Sun and the Stars. If you want - you will become a planet that flies in stellar space, overcoming millions of light years in seconds, leaving behind everything that prevented spreading its wings ... But this little heroes are still ahead. In the meantime, they only learn the subtleties of overcoming gravity, looking at the balls hanging above his head in the children's room. Maybe not at all about the distant worlds thought their creator, needlewoman Eliza from hot California. But she managed to surprise and infect Etsy visitors with her passion for balloons. She opened a store on Etsy - etsy.com/shop/AliceandPeter - in which she sells many of her handmade balloons. And already sold them more than 3200. Some Etsy visitors buy several pieces from her at once. The balls themselves are made of cloth. The basket at the bottom of the ball is made of burlap (today's fashionable material). The needlewoman makes balls of two sizes - with a diameter of 15 and 20 centimeters. Small balls cost her 34 dollars, large - 44 dollars. Sells a needlewoman and clouds, which undoubtedly adorn the indoor sky, coupled with balloons. Each cloud is sold for $ 9. Than- then this composition is like a mobile, right? (in the picture below is a finished balloon module that the needlewoman sells for $ 150). But it was just with the creation of mobiles that our needlewoman began her journey on Etsy (but she very quickly switched to balloons). It seems to me, In this direction of creating an original home decor, you can still think of a lot: flying dragons, airplanes, rockets, spaceships and even planets. Show your creativity and, perhaps, the children of your future buyers will get a chance to become not only travelers, but also scientists, astronauts and writers. And, remembering your childhood, they will add one more star to your karmic basket.

Werden die Sieben Samurai der Meere abgeschafft? ☠ ONE PIECE THEORIEN「Kapitel 928+」 - Duration: 2:45.

In one of the last Chapters, Mihawk let Perona go with the words: It is better

because on the reverie there are strange things

happening

One of these things could be that on the reverie it had been decided that the Shichibukai

System will be closed

As we all know there are a few people who are disliking the 7 Samurai System like

Fujitora. And now Vegapunk build Pacifista as strong as Shichibukai

but what happens if this becomes reality

and the reverie makes it decision

The Bounties will be reactivated

and they will be Pirates again, hunted by Bounty Hunters and the Marine.

The System of the Shichibukai did not really work in the near past.

Sir Crocodile wanted to make a new Land, Doflamingo made deals with Pirates

and fucked up Dressrosa

Kuma betrayed the Marine because he was a revo and got built into an Cyborg.

Boa Hancock didnt helped the Marine in the fight against Whitebeard

and Mihawk just does what Mihawk wants.

Blackbeard used his title to get some lvl6 Prisoners from Impel down

for his own crew.

Now the question is left, if the 7 Samurai which visited Mary Geoise many times

maybe they now some secrets of the WG

or of some plans from the Marine.

now they have to be executed so nothing can leak

But who could kill the Shichibukai?

It should be out of the public

and the enemy needs some kind of strength to handle a Shichibukai.

I think its the CP0

Would be interessting

seeing Kaku fighting Mihawk. To get how strong he got since his fight against Zoro.

Sadhguru - How do I re-motivate myself ? - Duration: 12:27.

Chetan Bhagat: Hi Sadhguru!

This is Chetan Bhagat and my question to you is what I get asked in my motivational talks

a lot – "How do I re-motivate myself?

How do I pick up the pieces again and go towards my goal or mission when I am very demotivated,

when I face some failure, when somebody has discouraged me or when things are just not

working out or taking just too long.

How do I keep myself motivated in life?"

Sadhguru: Namaskaram Chetan!

We must understand that if we motivate ourselves or get motivated

by somebody, there could always be somebody else who'll

demotivate us.

If something flips us up, something can always flip us down.

What motivation essentially means is that you build a false sense of confidence.

Why anybody needs confidence is essentially because the necessary clarity is missing.

Only where there is no clarity, one seeks confidence.

Where there is clarity, you do not need confidence.

If I ask you to walk here, where it's well-lit, nobody needs any confidence to walk here.

But if you ask somebody to walk in the… in a dark patch, suddenly they need confidence,

because there is no clarity.

So people have begun to believe that confidence is a substitute for clarity.

There is no substitute for clarity.

If we do not strive to bring clarity in our lives,

if we try to live our lives on puffed up sense of confidence,

somebody is always going to prick it and bring it down

or life situations are going to do it anyway.

It is like, you were outside and somebody told you,

you are the most wonderful human being on the planet,

you are floating on cloud whatever number.

You came home and people told you who you really are,

and puff (Gestures) it goes down.

So, it is very important that individual human beings

should strive to bring clarity to every dimension of their life.

If we try to run on confidence, which is motivated either by situations or by people

or by whatever we think we are going to get at the end of the race,

then this motivated confidence will always come down.

This is not a substitute for clarity.

Clarity is the only way to walk with ease.

If one has to walk through this life with ease, one needs clarity.

And clarity doesn't just come to you just as a gift.

It is something that we have to work at.

There is an whole system of how to bring clarity, but because our education systems have become

a heap of information, now we are trying to run on confidence.

But if our education system was about sharpening the tools of our perception,

then definitely we would have come to clarity.

It's very important, as individual human beings you invest towards bringing clarity

to your life.

Questioner: A very good afternoon, sir.

My name is Sushath Kumar Bishwa, I am a research scholar from BHU

and very much fortunate to clear… have a time to clear my doubt from you, sir.

My question is I have lost my spark, okay?

And I am not very much like you know continuous… consistently motivated person.

I have lost my motivation.

How to regain that to live my life and lead in a... like a joyful

way, to regain your inner peace?

Thank you, sir.

Sadhguru: See, the nature of life

is such…

Please sit down, it's okay.

If you…

If you go outside in the garden and try to catch an ant,

the BHU ant ( Laughter), who is born here, who's grown up here and

probably he'll die here, that BHU ant, if you try to catch him, he'll say, "Okay,

to hell with my life, okay crush me if you want."

Is it so?

He'll do everything to protect himself.

He values his life, isn't it?

Very much or no?

Tiny little creature that we may not even notice,

we may step on him without even seeing him unfortunately

but he values his life immensely.

Does he or no?

Participants: Yes.

Sadhguru: He's got spark.

But you, a human being

at least on this planet you are the peak of evolution,

physiologically at least, yes?

If other behavioral aspects if… we may have questions (Laughs)

but physiologically at least the most evolved creature on the planet.

What the most evolved creature on the planet means is,

it has the most complex neurological system and it has the highest level of cerebral capability.

That means you can think, you can remember - you have memory,

you have a very vivid sense of memory and a fantastic sense of imagination.

An ant doesn't have such a vivid sense of memory

nor does he have any great imagination.

He has some but he has a presence of mind about the life

that he is living.

Because the education systems that you are going through right from kindergarten level

is such that it is about everything except you.

It's about everything else.

Somebody is PhD in tourism, somebody is PhD in biotechnology, somebody is PhD in something,

nothing about this (referring to oneself).

How does this (Referring to oneself) function, there is no attention at all.

A human being functions…

You know, you have a Kala Bhairava Temple here.

What this means is, a human being exists in three times.

He lives because of the richness of his memory how rich is your memory determines what you

will do and what you will not do right now, isn't it so?

So memory is important.

The present experience is important and how vivid is your imagination for tomorrow

is very important.

Right now the problem is, these things have all gotten mixed up

because discipline of faculty has simply not come,

nothing has been taught to our children that there needs to be…

Discipline means people think English kind of discipline walking like this (gestures),

like idiots.

Discipline of faculty is not there because of this, your own mind turns against

you.

What happened ten years ago you still suffer.

Hello?

Participants: Yes.

Sadhguru: What may happen day after tomorrow you already suffer,

because there is no discipline of faculty.

You don't know how to use your memory, you don't know how to use your imagination,

your memory makes you suffer, your imagination makes you suffer

and you think you are suffering your life.

You are not suffering your life, you are only suffering the two greatest faculties

of being human vivid sense of memory and a fantastic sense

of imagination.

Isn't it so?

If you suffer the greatest faculties that you have, what can we do with you?

If you suffer a ailment – understandable; if you suffer a disability – understandable;

if you suffer your ability - hopeless case (Laughter).

Yes or no?

Participants: Yes.

Sadhguru: You are suffering your capabilities.

If you are suffering your disability, it's all right, you are suffering your capabilities.

I must tell you this, about four, five months ago I think,

you might have seen it on the news, a young lady, thirty-four-year-old lady

who was a television anchor in Hyderabad, jumped off the fifth floor window, killed

herself, left a note – "Nobody is responsible for

my death, my brain is my enemy."

Tch, how many million years it took to get this brain to this size

and now it becomes your enemy!

She articulated this but this is true with almost ninety percent

of the human beings, they are suffering their own intelligence,

isn't it (Applause)? if you take away half their brain,

if you take away half their brain, they will be peaceful (Gestures) (Few laugh),

yes!

And that is why a whole bunch of idiots are going about saying that

the ultimate goal of life is peace of mind.

Such people will only rest in peace (Laughter/Applause).

Now you (Laughs), young man University life,

if somebody is not keying you up all the time, it could become too easy, you know.

Even I remember when I went to the university most of the

time we were in the canteen or in the garden.

The easiest part of my life was university (Laughs) (Applause).

I think I know nobody is going to like it and…

but I think this university time must be shortened unless somebody is producing something brilliant,

they must be chucked out within three to four years' time everybody (Applause).

If they are doing something very focused and very intense, they must stay otherwise…

See, this is all I am telling all of you young people,

do whatever the hell you want in your life but you must be intensely focused on something.

If you are not investing in anything, your life,

it will just go waste because as I told you in the very beginning

one basic ingredient of your life is time and this is just going away.

Already you are two hours closer to your grave since I came here (Few laugh).

Yes or no?

Two hours closer to Manikarnika (Laughter).

Yes or no?

Participants: Yes.

Sadhguru: Yes, you are not immortal.

It's just a limited amount of time.

Are you a precious life I am asking, is your life precious to you?

Participants: Yes.

Sadhguru: Then you must decide where you want to invest this life if this

is precious.

If this is worthless throw it somewhere; if this is precious, invest in something worthwhile,

isn't it?

So, if you invest this in something worthwhile, not spark, you will be aflame all the time

4 SHOCKING Habits Of Successful People - Duration: 8:36.

Improvement Pill here, I'm fortunate enough to have a career that allows me

to travel the world and work with some very successful people people who make a

lot of money who are in good health and who are genuinely happy with their lives

and over time I start to notice some common trends amongst these individuals

certain habits that they almost all share so in today's video I'm gonna

reveal to you four shocking habits of successful people that I've observed I

highly recommend you watch this video till the very end because habit number

four was actually a game changer for me when I was a lot younger so let's jump

right into it habit number one is to have some form of tracking habit whether

it's by writing about your day in a journal jotting down numbers on

whiteboards like I do or even using an application on your phone tracking your

journey is extremely powerful because it allows you to think in a very special

way see the wisest decisions you can make the ones with the highest chances

of success are decisions that consider the past so you can avoid any mistakes

you've made before that considers the present so that you can make sure you're

currently doing the right thing and that considers the future so that you have a

goal to hit or target - amen the problem is well it's quite hard to

consider all three of these things at the same time using just our brain it's

a lot of information you need to be able to recall and think about so the next

best thing we can do is to record and track our progress so that we have all

of this information in front of us on demand here's an example let's say

you're someone that's been working on growing a YouTube channel the great

thing about YouTube is that they have a built-in tracking system they show you

the performance of your channel since its creation which is the past they show

you real-time information what people are currently viewing which is the

present and they give you enough information for you to estimate where

your channel will be in the future all this information is extremely powerful

because of the decisions it allows you to make from this data you can tell what

strategies have worked before in the past so you can repeat them it tells you

what strategies did terribly so you can avoid those and learn from that and it

allows you to estimate how long it'll take for you to hit your goals which is

extremely motivating the sole reason I was able to grow my channel to over a

million subscribers in just two years was because of this tracking it told me

exactly what strategies I had to stick to and which ones to avoid if I wanted

to reach my goals so regardless of what your definition of success is whether

it's health wealth or even relationship related you should track your journey so

that you have the data to make decisions and also stay motivated the

second habit that successful people have is some sort of awareness practice have

you ever met someone that always seems to have bad luck I have friends who

always seem to get injured always lose their money who always have some bad

thing or another happening to them now yes there are times where these are

truly incidences of bad luck but the truth of the matter is a lot of these

things could have been avoided if they were simply more aware of their

surroundings now most of the time there are signs that tell you something bad is

going to happen for example let's say you're at the gym and you're warming up

and you notice that your arm kind of aches a little when you move it in a

certain way now I know people who would completely ignore this sign and proceed

to go about their regular workout routine and guess what it's these same

people who end up with fitness injuries the same thing applies when you're

networking which is extremely important if you want to become financially

successful because the more powerful people you know the more money you will

make now when you're meeting people for the first time there are dozens of signs

that they will give off every single second of the interaction sometimes

these are signs that they are enjoying the interaction but sometimes these are

signs that what you're saying is boring or offending them if you don't notice

these signs and adjust the conversation you're going to ruin powerful

relationships that could have made you thousands if not millions of dollars

down the line we miss signs like these because we're lost in thought worrying

about what people think of us thinking about something that happened in the

past simply too busy thinking about something else to notice the clear signs

in front of us and trust me they are literally right in front of your face

most of the time this is why most successful people people that are often

called lucky or fortunate have habits like meditation affirmations or even

prayer because these are all habits that improve your awareness and they're gonna

make you more aware of the signs that will appear in front of you every single

day and if you can spot the good ones and avoid the bad ones that's how you

end up with quote unquote extremely good luck that's how you

become successful habit number three is that successful people take shortcuts

now I know I know right out the gate this sounds bad the improvement pill I

don't want to take shortcuts that's cheating but if you think about it

you've been taking shortcuts every single day of your life the phone or

computer that you're probably using right now to watch this video is in fact

a shortcut if you were really against taking shore

Cutts you'd have to invent and create all of the parts for these devices on

your own which would take hundreds if not thousands of years

we humans take the progress of the people that have come before us and used

their knowledge to live a better more efficient life that's a shortcut but

it's also the best way to go about things now this applies to success as

well there are tons of people who have come before you who have already reached

the types of success that you're looking for and oftentimes these already

successful people will try to pass down their knowledge for a variety of reasons

it's genuinely fulfilling to help others succeed it's a pretty good way to make

some money and it's a very powerful way for them to create a legacy if you're

trying to become successful in an area of your life like wealth the hands-down

best thing to do is to purchase some sort of course or program where an

expert lays out all of the steps in front of you to follow and this was a

lesson that I learned the hard way see when I was first trying to make my

fortune online many years ago I was cocky I told myself I could figure it

all out on my own for free I thought everyone who promoted their courses

online were scammers so I ended up spending months and months trying to

build a business online all by myself and guess what I didn't make any money I

spent over ten thousand dollars and earned less than a hundred dollars

through all of my efforts and it wasn't until I finally decided to take a

shortcut and learn from someone who had already found success online that I

finally made my first thousand dollars a month which then became ten thousand

dollars and fast forward to recently where I've been able to bring in over a

hundred thousand dollars per month online all because I was taking

shortcuts instead of trying to figure it all out on my own if you're someone who

is interested in a really really powerful course one that has already

taught hundreds of people how to succeed in terms of wealth the same one that

taught me how to make over a hundred thousand dollars a month then click on

the link in the description box below there you can attend a free webinar

hosted by me and one of my mentors Dan lot where you're gonna learn about one

of the most powerful strategies for making a fortune right now the last

habit we're gonna talk about today is actually something that I learned at a

very young age by observing my parents it's to have a more aggressive mindset

what do I mean by this well my dad was someone who had what I like to call a

defensive mindset he was a penny pincher it was a type of guy who would scold me

for throwing away empty water bottles not because he thought recycling was

gonna save the planet but because they worth five cents if you brought them to

the recycling center he was all about spending less my mother on the other

hand was very different she had what I like to call an aggressive mindset see

even though she came from a worse background than my dad she was a farmer

who never got a college degree she ended up being significantly more successful

in terms of wealth while my dad was worrying about how to save as much money

as possible my mom focused her time and energy on figuring out how to make more

money and even though she didn't have any higher education she ended up

teaching herself about real estate saving up enough money for a down

payment and purchasing a home all by herself

and because of this investment this aggressive strategy she now collects

rent from the tenants and makes significantly more money than my dad

does the thing about having a defensive mindset is that although yes it's

generally less risky it doesn't solve your problem you can't solve your money

problem by just saving up money all that does is make you worry a bit less if you

want to become successful if you don't want to worry about money at all and

actually enjoy life then you need to adopt an aggressive mindset an

aggressive mindset is all about solving the problem for good now investing tens

of thousands of dollars in a home like my mom did is a risky move but the thing

about aggressive mindsets now more than ever is that they are less and less

risky because if you do what we mentioned before if you take shortcuts

and learn from the success of people who have come before you then you can

decrease the risk drastically because you know what to do and what not to do

there's a time and place for passive mindsets but if you want to be

successful you need to spend more time thinking about how to solve your

problems altogether instead of just decreasing the symptoms and that's it

guys make sure to track your progress practice awareness more often take more

shortcuts and try to have a more aggressive mindset if you do all four of

these things you'll drastically increase your chances of seeing success down the

line I hope you learned a lot from all this and again if you want to check out

one of the best shortcuts out there click on the link in the description box

below besides that guys stay tuned

'You don't live here. I've never seen you before':White man berate black tenant in his own N.Y City

An African-American man says he was racially profiled by a neighbor who lives in the same New York City apartment building - the latest in a series of incidents in which white people have hassled black people for going about routine activities.

Chika Okafor, 29, who is black, posted video on social media Thursday showing him and his friend, who is also black, being confronted in his Upper West Side apartment building by a white neighbor.

The two men were said to be waiting for a Lyft ride when they were accosted by a man, who is white, who claimed to be a resident in the building.

The unidentified man appeared to be in his 50s. He was wearing a blue baseball cap and had graying hair and a white mustache.

Okafor, who works for the sports news site Bleacher Report, wrote on his Facebook page: 'I was racially profiled in my apartment complex last night.

'While I was with my friend Cassius Flemming waiting for a Lyft ride on the first floor of the building that I have lived in since mid-December of last year, this man interrogated me about where I live.

'As you can see, he thought that he was entitled to know who I was and where I lived simply because, according to him, he lived there for 27 years.

'The arrogance is appalling but honestly, not surprising because far too many times people of color have been victims of this kind of behavior.

The incident brings to mind other instances this past year in which whites have complained to police against blacks for doing routine activities.

In April, Jennifer Shulte was widely ridiculed on social media as 'Barbecue Becky' when she called the police on a black family and their usage of a charcoal grill in an Oakland park.

Allison Ettel would get her own nickname after calling the San Francisco police on an eight-year-old black girl who was selling bottled water.

Hillary Thorton - also known as Apartment Patty - physically blocked 24-year-old D'Arreion Toles from entering his own St. Louis apartment on October 12. The clip shows the older gentleman talking in an animated fashion to the two younger men.

'Why don't you speak to me like a normal guy?' one of the black men tells the white man. 'What are you doing in my building? You don't live here,' the white man responds.

'He lives right upstairs,' Flemming tells the white man. 'You don't live here. I've never seen you before. I've lived here 27 years,' he responds.

'Why are you doing this?' Flemming asks. To which the white man replies: 'You're smooth. You're the smooth king.'. 'We live here,' they insist. 'What apartment do you live in? Let's talk about that,' the suspecting man replies.

'It's none of your business,' they tell him. 'I do it to white people, too,' the man shoots back.

Then one of the black men says: 'We heard you at the door. We heard you say, "Who the F are these guys?". 'Do you own this building?' they ask him.

'Yes, I do,' he says. Then one of the black men asks: 'Where's your MAGA hat?'.

The clip went viral on Facebook, generating nearly 200 shares as of late Tuesday. It has been viewed more than 1.4 million times. Okafor says he has lived in the building since last year.

The apartment building is a four-story walk-up on First Avenue near 74th Street, according to The New York Times. 'I felt insulted,' Okafor said.

To me, his behavior suggested that, one, because we were people of color we were a threat to their safety, and, two, because we are people of color we can't afford to live in that type of apartment complex.

'It's the Upper East Side. It's considered to be one of the wealthy parts of Manhattan. 'It's a nice apartment. Hours after the encounter with Okafor and Flemming, the same man was filmed in another argument with a white couple.

Janah Reynolds, who is visiting New York for the holidays with her husband and two sons, was renting a first-floor apartment in the building through Airbnb.

After arriving from Hong Kong, Reynolds and her husband dropped their bags at the apartment on Wednesday and went out while her mother-in-law watched the children. When she and her husband returned, the same man refused to let them in.

He told them it was illegal for them to rent an apartment for just a few nights.

New York is one of a number of large cities in the U.S. that have cracked down on Airbnb rentals, though it is not clear if this particular rent was illegal.

In the video, which Reynolds posted as a response to Okafor's post, the couple is seen arguing with the same man.

They said they called police multiple times while waiting for more than an hour outside before the man finally allowed them inside. Neither Reynolds or Okafor knew the man's name. Okafor said he had never seen him before the encounter.

Okafor filed a complaint with the building manager, who declined to get involved. Instead, Okafor was told to file a complaint with police, though he said he did not plan on doing so.

Okafor is, however, seeking an apology from the man, whom he believes should be evicted. 'I'm not going to change how I live my life based on this guy's inappropriate behavior,' Okafor said.

Milner has been Mr Dependable in a Liverpool side that was unbeaten in the Premier League heading into today's match at home to Newcastle

The former England international has played in a variety of positions, including at right-back in recent weeks

**PREDICT FIVE RESULTS AND WIN £25,000 - FREE TO PLAY HERE** Thompson understands why the likes of goalkeeper Alisson, centre-back Virgil van Dijk and top goalscorer Mohamed Salah grab the headlines at Liverpool

But he believes Milner deserves more credit for his role in the team.  And Thompson admits he was delighted Milner joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2015

"I think he is [Liverpool's most important player]," Thompson said on Sky Sports

"Probably in the dressing room, he's not the captain, but he behaves like a club captain in the way he goes around

He is wonderful. "From the first moment I heard whispers that Liverpool were going to sign him I thought 'absolutely fantastic'

"Every game you can see his focus is right. "His performances are eight out of 10, doesn't like his standards to drop at all, and you see that wonderful spirit that he has in him

"You can see him transferring that into the dressing room either during training or before matches, whether he's in the team or not

And he's been absolutely terrific. "Every Liverpool fan loves him for what he does, his commitment

"We've seen him playing at right-back, we've seen him in midfield, different positions, how many games did he play at left-back? He's that sort of player

"This is a relatively young side so you need somebody like that around the place

"You talk about the goalkeeper, you talk about Van Dijk, you talk about Salah - this fella is Mr Consistency

"If he continues this vein, he will be up there when the plaudits come out at the end of the season

" Milner was left out of the squad to face Newcastle at home on Boxing Day.

Did I Finish My 2018 Series Goals? [CC] - Duration: 7:21.

Hello everybody, my name is Cara, and today I'm going to be watching my

original Series I Want to Finish in 2018 video and reacting to it and seeing how

I did. I had all these high-minded goals about all the series I was going to

finish this year and I can tell you already I did not do all of them, I

remember a couple of series I said I was going to finish but not most of them so

this is gonna be exciting for both of us. All right, so let's get into it, let's see

what my past self thought I was going to read this year. "And here it is, I am

officially committing myself to a series- finishing goal! The first series I really

want to finish this year is the Birthright trilogy by Gabrielle Zevin.

I own the entire trilogy and I only read the first book and I loved it." Okay so *laughs*

starting off with a great one, I did not continue that series, I did not finish it.

I did really enjoy the first book, it's like this chocolate mafia sort of thing

that sounds like it'd be really silly but it's actually super dark, and um, yeah,

I did enjoy that first book, I did not continue. "Next I have the Graceling Realm

series by Kristen Cashore, I only have the last book..." Okay I forgot I had put that

one on there! Um, I only had to read Bitterblue

for the Graceling trilogy by Kristen Cashore, but I did read that this year,

and I loved it. I loved that whole series so, good! *laughs* I've got--I've got another one there.

"Next I have the Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson." Okay so I actually DNFed

that series, the Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson. Um, I had a lot of issues with

the first book and I'm realizing that I actually did not enjoy it even as much

as I thought I had at the time, so I will not be continuing that series in the

near future. Maybe someday I might pick up the second book from the library but

I actually got rid of that series, so did not finish that one either, but I don't

know if it counts 'cause it was a DNF. "The next book I have is the second in the

Archived duology, I guess you could call it, by Victoria Schwab." Okay so another

one I did not continue. I still don't know if the third book is ever going to

happen, I'm not sure anyone knows that, I do still want to read that second book

but I had forgotten it was on this list, I don't think it's really a priority for

me, but that was a thing that I thought I was gonna do...that I did not do. "Next

series I really want to finish is the Immortals Quartet by Tamora Pierce."

Okay! I get so excited now when I see one I've actually finished. I did finish The

Immortals Quartet, I did really enjoy it, I highly recommend that series, it's by

Tamora Pierce. I think...is it the first...I think it's the first series of hers that

I've actually finished and I did really enjoy it.

There was only one book that I had to read for it but it still counts as

*laughs* finishing a series! "I also really want to finish the Lumatere Chronicles by

Melina Marchetta." Okay so I did not read that one, um no real excuse except that

it's like a very intense series and I guess I just wasn't feeling up to it

this year, but I do really want to finish that one, so moving on. "Another trilogy I

would like to finish this year is the Unearthly trilogy by Cynthia Hand." This

is one of the ones I specifically remembered putting on this list that I

did not continue or finish. I did really enjoy the first book it's kind of like a

BookTube underhyped fave I guess? Like I mean you see people talk about it a lot

for hidden gems books and I did--I do want to still continue it but...did not

happen this year. "I would also like to continue with the To All the Boys I've

Loved Before trilogy." Okay so the To All the Boys I've Loved Before series by

Jenny Han, I was halfway successful with that: I did read the second book which I

did enjoy, and I do want to read the third one soon, I own it,

I've heard like kind of mixed things about it so maybe that's one of the

reasons I still haven't gotten to it but I want to read that one before the

second movie comes out because I'm not sure if they're gonna combine those two

books so I don't want to get spoiled. "I would also like to continue with the

Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima.

I read the first book and I did enjoy it." Okay so I did pretty well with that, I

still haven't read the fourth book in the series but I believe I read the

second and third both this year and this is like kind of the same as with a lot

of these, like I still do want to read that one but it has not happened yet. But

I'm pretty--I'm like pretty proud of myself that I continued with two of the

books in the same series *laughs* "Theatre Illuminata series by Lisa Mantchev, I

only have one book in this trilogy to go." I think by like putting a lot of 'oh I

only have one book left in the series to finish' on this list, I think I was

probably thinking I was giving myself a better chance of finishing more of them but

this is another one I did not get to, and I've actually--like I was spoiled for the

third book and some things that happened, which was my own fault, it wasn't like

anyone did that to me, so this is another one where it's like I'm not super motivated

to pick up the book because I don't really want to know *laughs* like I don't--I

don't want to put myself through that, so... but like I did really enjoy the first

book especially. I feel like this [video] is not going to be a very successful goals

reaction. "Another series I really want to finish in 2018 that I have been reading

for what seems like a very long time is the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead."

Yay! okay, another one I actually finished. I only had one book and I think I talked

about in this video how I didn't want to pick it up because I've heard it's like

the worst in the series, that a lot of people were disappointed in it, and

you'll see me talking about it in my December wrap-up but...I kind of agree *laughs* but

I am still really glad I finished that one. "Next we have a trilogy that I

honestly can't believe I haven't finished yet, I'm pretty disappointed in

myself, that is the Winner's Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski." I knew that was gonna be

um that was gonna be on there. This is like the same as the Lumatere Chronicles,

these books are just like very emotional experiences for me, so I kind of have to

be in exactly the right mood to read it and clearly that did not happen during

the year. But yeah I know this is kind of becoming like, not a polarizing series,

but like it comes up a lot in unpopular opinions people are like 'everyone loves

the series and I don't love it'...I'm a basic bitch, I like the series, so. "And

finally the last series on my list is the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo." Yay!

Finishing on one I actually completed. Um I have a whole series review and

discussion, there is a spoiler-free part and then a ranty part, which I will link

below, so I did finish the Grisha trilogy, um...not super happy about it but

I do feel better that I actually like checked it off my list and I can now

proceed into Six of Crows with all of the knowledge for the references and things

that are gonna be in there. Okay so I will put on the screen kind of my stats

or how I did with this, there were definitely a few that I had forgotten I

had put on this list that I actually did finish so I'm proud of that. I think

there was at least one series that I actually have officially DNFed for the

time being, so I--I guess that one doesn't exactly count against me but as you saw

there are quite a few--quite a few series that I did not actually finish that I

was intending to, so hopefully that will still happen. All the ones that I mentioned

that I didn't otherwise state I like have no interest in, I DO want to

continue, but I don't think I'm gonna...at this point I don't think I'm gonna like

do a Series I Want to Finish in 2019 video because it was starting to like

pressure me a little bit, and I don't want to force myself to read a series I

enjoy when I'm not in the mood for it, 'cause I don't want to like--I don't want to

add anything that might make me disappointed in something I am expecting

to enjoy, if that makes sense. All right, so hopefully that was

interesting or entertaining for you to see how I actually did with these series

goals I had. Please let me know in the comments down below if you have this

problem of not finishing series because I never used to have this problem until

BookTube happened, and then I had like so many things I want to read at any given

moment that things I'm in the middle of just kind of go by the wayside sometimes.

Thank you guys so much for watching, I will see you soon with another video, and

I hope you love the next book you read. Bye!

Working with Red Sox players to make a video - Duration: 11:38.

What's going on everyone, Kellan Reck here! Today, well first of all let me say Merry

Christmas I hope everybody had a great Christmas yesterday if you're watching

this way after Christmas well happy whatever day it is for you today I want

to do another reaction video to a piece of my work from the Red Sox now the last

one I did was an open video from 2013 this is an open video from 2017 this we

used for a majority of the season and it played the first debut of it was opening

day of the 2017 season so before we get into it it goes to the song believer and

imagine dragons and the concept behind this was to project highlights of

players onto their own jerseys so a lot of that happened down at spring training

and you'll actually see some of that here I've got some behind-the-scenes

footage of that so you can see what that process was like but what we decided we

wanted to do was a projector themed project highlights on to the players and

mix that and mix that in with the actual highlights and create some sort of

cool-looking video so we'll dive in here I'll let you see what we got and I'll

stop and talk you through some of the things that happen in this video

so what you'll see here is a couple different things in this first chunk

first of all a lot of similarities to that 2013 open video that where we put

September up in the monster and the whole idea of starting with something

happening in the monster actually inspired me for this video where we went

into the Green Monster set up a projector and start shooting these

highlights so similar intro and that's where that came from that 2013 video so

just a fun little thing to think about I want to just jump back and you'll notice

a little editing trick as the door opens here check this out it's just a simple

mask so the door opens really to just black behind it but I'm asked the door

rounds to reveal this shot of the light rays coming in which is a totally

different angle than we would get of just straight through the door just a

fun little thing to notice alright and we will resume sorry let me just point

out this the way I edited this video here is we were submitting it for the

golden matrix Awards so I wanted to display all the boards we have at Fenway

this video in particular is actually more than just one board it plays on all

of the video boards Fenway we have three main boards and then a bunch of fascia

boards which are banner strips so you'll see those throughout the video here so

this shows you just what the various boards look like let's jump back in from

the message from the base speaking lesson from the brain seeing the beauty

so a couple things going on so far we've seen the highlights of the jerseys

you've seen stuff inside the Green Monster so what I have here for various

features if we just look quickly through so I can explain to you first of all

these close-up projector shots are a mixture of us shooting b-roll of a

projector that we had and also some stock footage that I got from Mitch

Martinez which I've done a video on his website he has a ton of amazing 4k stock

footage that you can download and use for free some of these projector shots

were used from him so check that guy out he's got amazing stuff that really can

add a lot to your videos and then if we scrub along you can see here we've got

the actual shots on jerseys so what we did is we projected standard highlights

and time lapses from Fenway Park that we'd shot on two jerseys and we got

close-ups of that so we can mix it in but then for a lot of guys we also got

their faces involved so you can see here that we've got Dustin Pedroia we

projected himself onto his face and then we had our standard green screen shots

of him down at Spring Training and I just had a projector blank onto a wall

and we overlaid his body onto the wall inside the Green Monster so a couple

different things with the projector theme going on here so this would be the

open video for games we're gonna get a bunch of stuff with you guys projected

and mix it into highlights it looks pretty dope right

how much all you see here is another feature we did with the numbers in the

Green Monster whatever players up to bat if you've

never been at Fenway Park the Green Monster shows their number on the wall

with these lights here so what we did before the season is we shot every

single number possible and then what I did is basically took the players number

overlaid it onto the shot using an opacity blending mode and just added it

onto the shot so that when a player was on the screen in this video their number

was also flashing and twitching out with the music so kind of a fun feature there

I want to dive in and show you some of the behind the scenes of me working with

the guys down at Spring Training to show you what the process was like down there

to get a lot of these shots so you're gonna face this wall and hold the glove

up sort of below your eyes and just keep it there for like 10 seconds

it's that'll be right on it's gonna be on your Jersey so why did you nail it

you nail that play right there yes I do the man here so we're gonna project this

highlight on you for the open video I need my water on your mouth let's go

then your bet so we'll get you on the white line up over your shoulder and

you're over at this wall Wow let's continue

yes we just had a guy named Steven Keeny help us out he built this sort of ribbon

banner so it looks like a projector film strip and then we put shots from the

year on that and those would go on our ribbon boards around the ballpark that

the fascia boards and just sort of roll throughout the video

I put a sort of flashing projector overlay as well to make it appear as

though everything you're watching the video is being projected even on to the

screen when it's a full screen highlight like this you can see this

last these less by the grace of the fire been the flames you're the face of the

future the blood in my veins all the highlights in this small behind the

Green Monster down in Spring Training at JetBlue Park there's a small room with

all the numbers we got all these highlights there with nobody in there

then we brought the players in so we could cut between just the basic

highlight and then the player there with the highlight as well broke down like

so that's it and when we were watching that it reminded me Handley here when we

showed him his highlight because we like to show the guys their highlights before

we projected onto their Jersey he loved to check out what he did when we showed

him miss eyelet so that's gonna be on your Jersey in here on a scale of 1 to

10 how bad did you crush that ball and I will say one thing that we did when

putting the shots onto the background here what I actually did is the

projected highlight onto the wall wasn't quite bright enough for the video so I

took the real highlight overlaid it feathered out sort of masked out the

edges so that it didn't have any harsh edges and it's it what it did was it

brightened up the shot a little bit so that the prominence of what I wanted to

show that was just a little bit brighter otherwise without that overlay of the

actual shot it just didn't pop the way I wanted it to so we had to do a little

bit of that throughout but overall the projector theme worked super well

between projecting onto the players the intra set up with the little projector

we had and then some of that stock footage and it it turned out into a

pretty cool project so let me know down below what you think about this

particular video about open videos about any of the effects or things that you

saw going on here if you have questions about other types of videos that we do

this format of reaction video is pretty cool I had mixed reviews on the first

one seems like some people were into it hearing how I do some of the work for

the Red Sox so I'm hoping that this one a little bit more recent video can show

you a little bit more and and give you a little more insight into what I do

outside of YouTube here so thanks for watching like the video if you enjoyed

go ahead and subscribe if you're into this content I'm back every Wednesday

with videos to help you become a better filmmaker and photographer so we'll

check you back next week thanks a lot

The Most Underrated Drummer - Duration: 3:53.

- Hi Todd Sucherman here at Drumeo and if you don't know me,

I've been in the band Styx for the last 22 years.

I've played with Brian Wilson, Spinal Tap.

A host of recording sessions, thousands of sessions

over the last couple of decades.

So, we were just having a conversation about

underrated drummers and it drives me insane

when I hear someone disrespect Ringo Starr.

Who's clearly awesome and if you don't think so,

I'm going to tell you why he's awesome.

And if someone comes up to me and disrespects Ringo,

instead of punching him in the throat,

which is really what I want to do,

I'll say well, tell you what why don't you come up

with a perfect, absolutely perfect drum parts,

to 300 songs in a seven year period

and then come talk to me, 'cause chances are

you're not going to be able to do that.

Yeah he's not blast beat master, he's not fusion master.

He's not like award winning chop guy,

but you don't need that to be considered a great drummer.

All you need to be is playing the right beats,

know when to play and when not to play,

and construct things that support the song.

You know, if we had a fusion air guy playing on

the Beatles songs, it would've wrecked the music.

They wouldn't have been what they are.

So, it has nothing to do with the amount of notes,

or the rapidness and the speed of the notes.

The music just works, you can't argue with it.

Grooves like "In My Life" out of all the linear drumming

things that exist in the world, that--

is the most successful linear drum part of all time

3, 4,

It just works with the song.

Listen to "She Said, She Said" off the Revolver record

You try playing those fills like that

Yeah it's not brain melting difficult,

but it's the feel, it's the intent, it's the vibe

that was happening, how it works with the music.

That's what makes it great.

That's what makes it spectacular.

Check out the newly released, remastered

Live at the Hollywood Bowl, 1964 and 1965.

Those guys are playing up there.

They're swinging their butts off, no monitors.

They can't hear each other, everybody's singing in tune

and Ringo is just throwing it down.

And on the remastered one you can really

hear the kick and snare patterns,

they really eek that out in the mix.

And when you listen to that you're like yeah,

this was no mistake, this was no fluke

that the world went bonkers in 1963, 1964, 65

for these guys, these guys were great.

'Cause a lot of the music that was happening there was

nice little happy music.

Little songs about muffins and stuff like that,

and then these guys come out, you know, wow.

So, Ringo all the way through the Beatles,

just a prolific, prolific body of work

that stands the test of time, so check him out.

Okay, so now I want to know who do you think

is the most underrated drummer?

Who do you want to punch in the

throat when they dis your guy?

Leave your comment below, I look forward to checking it out.

- Huh? - Now please,

continue to enjoy the mountain lobster and the sewer clams.

Again, this is only for those who have eaten the muffins who...

well are in danger of getting debilitating diarrhea.

Also, I am sorry that I just mentioned diarrhea while you're eating.

Enjoy!

Eww!

[Marcia] And that is yet another bust for the fellow in the aqua sweatshirt.

What the [bleep]? [softly] 1-2...

[clears throat] Sir, we're gonna have to ask you to leave the table.

Oh [bleep]. You saw me counting cards?

Uh, no sir. We are asking you to leave, because, well, you're losing too much money.

- What? - Wait a minute, you were counting cards?

- Oh, you are terrible at that. - What? No-- What?

- Don't you want me to lose money? - Oh no, those are Vegas values,

not Primm values, OK? No-no, we care about our guests,

so this is for your own protection. Boys.

Ow-owww! Ah! You gotta undo these.

I'm in an eSports tournament! Hey!

[chuckles] I have fallen for that before. Not again my friend.

[DaveFu grunting]

[Squib] So, I'm talking to Mark Cuban, right, and I say,

"Cubes, this is not the first time I've seen a dead body.

You know what I'm saying?"

- [watch beeps] - Oh [bleep].

I gotta go my team is playing in 15 minutes.

I got a player on the team look just like you, Ivan Drago.

Here you go. Don't do drugs. Don't do drugs.

Don't do drugs.

[Becca from behind the door] Oh, I wanna to die!

Oh my God, I wanna to die!

- You OK in there? - [bleep] you Greg!

- Mmkay. - [bleep] you!

[bleep] your parents. [bleep] everybody.

Uh, Becca we gotta go. The next match is about to start.

There's not even a toilet in there. It's just a bucket with a sheet around it.

- Are you sure you're OK? - Yeah, we can't miss the match.

Was it more puking or poopin'?

[Charna] For the last time, is Sorcerer here?

We gotta be outta here by 8. We gotta Quinceañera coming in.

One more minute and Sorcerer will forfeit the match.

- [Greg] We're here. - [Becca] Ugh, I'm dying.

- I'm dying. - She's got di.

[Becca] Oh my God.

[dismal clapping]

- [Charna] Is she going to [bleep] be OK? - Yes, she's fine, she's fine.

My organs are liquified.

Sorry, got a manicure at this Korean nail salon just a quarter mile down the highway.

- Just as good as a spa. - I'm sorry, late.

- What? Dave? - It's fine. It's just handcuffs.

Let's just do this.

[gameplay voice] 3-2-1. The tale begins!

- [softly] Sauce go. - I can't push the keys.

- How do I mess up my nice nails? - Someone tell me what I'm doing.

Yes, made it.

What the [bleep]?

[deep sigh] Looks like this one's up to old Greg.

Gotta carry this team on my back. Let's do this.

Wow,

I did not expect to be least valuable player of that match.

That was uh...

Really uh... I really screwed the pooch there. [chuckles]

I mean, that was uh...

That was truly bad, and I-- I am-- I am sorry.

Not Greg's best day. Not one to--

- [Becca retches] - Open a window! Open a window!

[Squib] Man, don't puke in my truck.

What is Boxing Day in the UK? 🇬🇧🎁🎄 - Duration: 10:05.

(upbeat Christmas rock)

- Hi we're Joel and Lia!

- And today's video is all about Boxing Day.

- So, we hope you've enjoyed Vlogmas,

can we just say, welcome to Boxing Day?

It's the 26th of December. (laughs)

- December.

- I'm not losing my mind. - No.

- Want to talk to you guys about what Boxing Day is,

because there might be some of you

that don't have it, where they're from,

so this video is all about that.

- Mm-hmm, yeah it's weird because again

it's something that we've been brought up with.

I thought it was a global thing; I think Australia do it,

maybe some other countries do too.

I know America doesn't call it Boxing Day.

- Oh what might they call it?

Just the Day After Christmas?

- The Day After Christmas, maybe.

- Just, they don't give it a name.

Or they don't celebrate Boxing Day.

Not that you wake up going "It's Boxing Day!"

I remember growing up, I'd always be like,

"Mum, is Boxing Day the day before Christmas

"or the day after Christmas?"

And she'd always be like, no it's after Christmas.

- I love that.

But it helps because then like, the 27th you'd say

is the day after Boxing Day.

So, "On the day after Boxing Day,

"I went and did blah blah blah."

You wouldn't say the 27th.

- And then you start getting into No Man's Land

when you go to the 28th, what's that?

- It's like the day after the day after Boxing Day. (laughs)

- A few days before New Year's Eve Eve Eve.

- Yeah!

- It's New Year's Eve Eve Eve! (laughs)

- But it's good because Christmas Eve

comes before Christmas Day, and Boxing Day

you just naturally know that that's then after.

Just in the same way that you'd say Christmas Eve

or Christmas Eve Eve.

- Yeah I love that.

- You could say Boxing Boxing Day.

- "Oh I'm going home on Christmas Eve Eve this year."

So yeah I love that. - Yeah I love it.

- Okay, so let's get into Boxing Day.

Why is it called Boxing Day?

- There's two different theories.

So one of them is that it's traditionally

a time where employers would pack up boxes full of presents

and give them to their employees.

- And some say it might be called Boxing Day

because you'd pack up like a box,

almost a shoebox size of presents,

and give them to the poor.

- So no one really knows where it comes from,

there are lots of different theories about.

But that's traditionally what Boxing Day meant.

But nowadays it just means shopping.

- Yeah, in fact, the last two years

you and I have both done the shoebox for charity,

which is where you fill up a box

and it gets sent to like a Third World country.

And you can put in sort of like, treats;

you can put in like toothbrush, stuff like that.

- Like little gifts and things.

- Little gifts, practical things.

- But that's not on Boxing Day was it?

- No, we do that for Christmas Day,

but it just made me think of it because it's a box.

- Yeah, yeah. - Yeah.

- But yeah nowadays it just means shopping,

like the Boxing Day sales start on Boxing Day.

And lots of Brits will leave the house on Boxing Day,

just to go shopping.

- So you've had the chaos of Christmas.

You've done all the cooking, you've done everything.

Your family's upside down, you've argued,

you've played board games and then the next day

it's like, shopping! - Shopping.

- Get them sales in and buy people's,

people pretend they're going to be really prepared

and buy everyone's presents for next year;

no one's done that. - Yeah, but you're not.

- How many people do you speak to that you're like,

"Oh have you done all your shopping?"

And they're like, yeah I did it a year ago?

- Yeah. - No one.

- But that's why I don't really tend

to ask for clothes for Christmas,

because they're just going to be reduced on Boxing Day

and into the January sales.

So I've gone shopping on Boxing Day before, I think,

or the few days in the gooch of--

- In the gooch.

- Of Christmas to New Year.

I buy lots of clothes.

- If you've got storage space, you can

use that time of year to buy stuff like wrapping paper,

Christmas crackers, stuff that you definitely will need--

- Cheap for next year. - For next year.

Cards, if you're someone that sends cards,

you could buy all your cards really cheaply.

- But this Boxing Day sales is kind of like

our equivalent of Black Friday,

like people queue on the streets,

like Oxford Street in London is rammed.

- Yeah, I wouldn't go anywhere near

Oxford Street on Boxing Day.

I wouldn't dream of it.

You see people with like, prams,

and you're like, why are you here?

- Yeah, they use it as a ramming device.

- Yeah, I know, (laughs), horrific!

But I don't think ours are as aggressive as--

- No, the Black Friday shoppers.

- Black Friday shoppers.

Because like, we don't really have any,

like, massive fights kick off.

Not that I've heard of or seen on the news or anything.

- No, the most dramatic thing that happened

I remember a few years ago someone was shot

on Oxford Street on Boxing Day,

like when it was full of like, things.

- That was horrific.

- Not shot, I think he was stabbed or something.

- That's really bad.

- I remember seeing it on the news and stuff.

So bad things happen, but not that often.

We've got a video that we're going to show you and react to,

and it's "Shoppers Hit Oxford Street for Boxing Day Sales,"

and it's busy, but there's so much decorum.

- Oh yeah? Let's see.

Let's see the video.

- This is Selfridges on Oxford Street.

The queue's around the block.

- Oh, a nice orderly queue.

- I love a queue.

- "It's almost free."

- Look how early it is, it's dark.

So they're queuing at like, probably 5 a.m., 4 a.m.

- Of course they are. - People will queue overnight.

- Look at how happy they look,

they're so excited to get in.

- And they're running.

- Oh they're running, they're running in.

- But there are some walkers,

and they're literally just being like, let in really calmly.

But Black Friday shoppers were literally like, trampling.

- Yeah, there's no one fallen over.

- No, but they're casually strolling in.

- There's a few strollers and walkers that are like,

I'm just going to go to where I know I need to go.

- And they're all smiling, they're all happy.

- Selfridges in particular, is the biggest day of the year.

It's the biggest volume across all of our stores.

And this year will absolutely be no exception.

Things are definitely tighter than you've seen for a while.

But I think Boxing Day will be more important than ever,

because people will be looking for bargains this year

more than they've ever done before,

so we're anticipating that today.

- Wow.

People love a bargain, and that's what

is so, like, universal, about everything.

Everyone loves a bargain.

- But money's an issue, that everyone wants to save money,

because no one has enough money.

- Yeah no one's ever got enough money.

- No matter how much you've got you've never got enough.

- And you sell out on Boxing Day,

buying stuff you probably don't need.

- I'd rather pay the extra and go at a quieter time.

- Yeah actually I'd rather pay for

the peacefulness of my shopping experience.

- Yeah, I would; amazing.

- And at Boxing Day sales I'm really grateful

I no longer work in a department store.

- Yeah, hashtag #grateful, hashtag #blessed.

- Grateful, 'cause I--

- I never used to work

between Christmas and New Year anyway;

I've always taken it off, I've always had,

like or or two weeks off at Christmas, New Year.

But it'd be horrible to work in retail on Boxing Day, ugh.

- Oh my gosh.

- My brother's done it. - Yeah?

- He worked for Next.

- And people go crazy for a Next sale.

- Next is like, yeah.

- Next is like, women's wear, mostly.

- No, menswear. - Menswear as well.

- Oh yeah it's equal men's and women's wear.

I buy loads of stuff from Next.

My underwear is from Next, look at that!

- Oh don't be such a little slut, put that away.

"Don't be such a little," imagine if I was like,

"Guys my underwear is from," and got it out.

- Yeah, do it.

- I'd get accused of being a little slut.

- Of being a slut, but because I do it, it's not,

and they're like, "Joel!"

"Boys being boys." - "Joel! Boys'll be boys."

Boy! - Boy, boys.

- Booie!

- "A booie's just being a booie!" (laughing)

- "Booie just being a booie," brilliant.

So for those of you that don't go shopping,

you've got Boxing Day at home

or maybe like with cousins or family

that you might not see on Christmas Day.

- Yeah, you'll see them on Boxing Day.

- So you can see everyone on Boxing Day,

that's like a done thing in my family,

we'll see all, like, extended family on Boxing Day.

- Also you might go for walk, Boxing Day walk,

that's a thing. - Yeah.

- Some people do it on the afternoon on Christmas Day,

but I think, most people are like,

let's get out of the house,

we've been in the house on Christmas Day,

let's go for a walk.

- It's lovely. Yeah, love that.

And you've got a dog for it.

- Yeah, exactly.

- So Oscar must love that.

- But the best part about Boxing Day, and the upcoming days,

is the food, the leftovers.

- Leftovers!

- It's amazing.

- Oh my gosh, I just love cold savory food,

so this is my idea of heaven!

This is legit, like I'm oh yeah I'll just make a sandwich,

out of like a bit of turkey meat, a bit of like, cranberry,

a bit of this, a bit of that.

A bit of stuffing. - Wow.

- Stunning. - You make it yourself?

- Yeah! - Oh wow.

- It's all up for grabs.

- I make my dad do it all the time.

"Dad get me a sandwich"! - "Dad get me a sandwich"!

- "Make me a sandwich"! - "Make me a sandwich"!

- Oh. - Aw.

- I don't lift a finger at Christmas.

- Really?

Imagine when you have to cook your own Christmas dinner.

- Oh my gosh; no, that'd be awful.

- The timing can be so hard.

- My brother is a chef, so he cooks Christmas Dinner

with my dad.

I might chop a carrot or something.

- Is that it? - That's it, yeah.

- You don't really get involved?

- No.

- "Just pour the Prosecco, Joel"!

- I just drink the Prosecco and play with Oscar.

- "I'll just be in here being the youngest sibling."

- Yeah. (laughing)

- That's good, also people can be control freaks

on Christmas Day.

Like, my family they're like, "Get out of my space."

So I'll try and help, but they'll just be like,

"Just go and play on Instagram."

- Yeah, and you're like, "Okay."

- Okay, I'll just go and play on Instagram.

- Yeah. (laughing).

Follow us on Instagram! - Yeah.

- If you want behind the scenes content on these videos

and of our life over Christmas.

- Yeah I'm sure there'll be plenty to share.

Lots of Prosecco.

- Yeah, but Merry Christmas, I hope you had

a great day yesterday.

We will see you next time?

- Next week? - In a few days.

- We'll see you soon.

- We're back to thrice weekly,

so Vlogmas is over, very sad,

but we will be back doing three videos a week

like we always used to.
