How do solar flares impact Earth?

A solar flare is a burst of X-ray light.

We know that the Sun influences space all the way down to the Earth's upper atmosphere.

A new study observed

when the X-rays pulsated, so too did the lower ionosphere.

The ionosphere is the lowest level of space, a region of the upper atmosphere

about 30 - 600 feet above sea level.

It is home to the aurora, the International Space Station, radio waves, and satellites.

This is the first time we have seen its

response synchronized with solar flare pulsations.

Understanding how the Sun affects

near-Earth space helps us learn how to protect astronauts and satellites close to home.

Duke Fall 2017 Faculty Reads: Marc Brettler - Duration: 1:37.

Is the New Testament a Christian book or Jewish book? Yes. I am Marc Brettler. I

teach in the Department of Religious Studies and in the Center for Jewish

Studies. I recently finished the co-edited volume with Amy Jill Levine at

Vanderbilt University of "The Jewish Annotated New Testament" which explores

that issue in great detail. Well of course the New Testament is a Christian

book. It is the Central Christian book. But it also is, in ways, in which many

people have not realized, a fundamentally Jewish book. It was written

in a Jewish environment. Jesus certainly viewed himself as Jewish and was viewed

by others as Jewish. Most of the writers that were incorporated within the New

Testament were Jewish as well. So what this book examines through annotations,

short commentaries on the New Testament texts, and over 50 essays is what the New

Testament meant in its earliest context and how the New Testaments has been

understood within Judaism throughout the ages.

Thus this book should interest anybody who wants a broader vision of what the

Jewish background of the New Testament is as well as anybody who is interested

in understanding the New Testament in greater depth.

Carrie Underwood Just Got Devastating Dose Of Karma 4 Days After Publicly Ripping President

Trump.

Carrie Underwood hasn't just been a chart-topping country star, she's always been one of conservative's

favorite songstresses with her American-loving lyrics and family values.

That all changed recently when she derailed off into anti-Trump territory, joining liberal

Hollywood in their constant attack on our president.

The star didn't hold back when she took her rant public about the president, pulling

out all the stops in attacking him on everything she could think to make fun of the Commander-in-Chief

who her fans assume she supported or at least respected until her liberal vomit came spewing

out.

It's one thing for liberal actors and rappers to use every public appearance as an opportunity

to display their hate for Trump and his administration.

That's expected of this disrespectful, Barack Obama-loving crowd.

However, it came as a nasty surprise when typically conservative-leaning country music

artists went this route, totally disengaging from their Trump-supporting fan base.

We saw this take place at the Country Music Awards show on Wednesday, November 8, hosted

by Underwood and fellow country music star Brad Paisley.

Both were warned about bringing politics into the awards show and didn't listen and suffered

from that poor decision almost immediately.

But four days later, Underwood got hit particularly hard with an unexpected and shocking dose

of karma.

It's going to take a while to recover from this devastating blow.

Country music fans who are typically conservative and support our president and appreciate what

he's done to make America great again, lost all respect for Underwood and Paisley after

they decided to turn against the fans and the president on stage at the CMAs.

With total disregard for who was watching and the CMA executives orders, hosts Brad

Paisley and Carrie Underwood suggested Trump's a cheater in a song performance and put on

skits poking fun of some things he's done in the public eye.

They clearly crossed the line and the show's instant ratings plummet proved it, but Underwood

just took a really hard fall that her former fans are calling "karma" for her nasty

anti-Trump antics.

Dearly reports:

Singer Carrie Underwood recently ended up in the hospital with a broken wrist, after

she took a spill down the front steps of her Nashville home.

The accident happened just days after hosting the Country Music Association Awards with

Brad Paisley, during which the pair performed a head-turning political twist on her hit

"Before He Cheats" (changing out "cheats" for "tweets").

The song was a dig at President Donald Trump, and some believe the joke came back to bite

her.

While Underwood attempted to thank her well-wishers on Facebook after her accident, some fans

skipped the "feel better" messages and took aim at her Trump jokes.

"Did not think that you would participate in disrespecting our president.

I was disappointed.

Hope you feel better though," one person responded to Underwood's post on Facebook

addressing the fall.

"Hey Carrie, keep politics out of music.

You really screwed the pooch this time!

No one asked you in the first place!

Of course, you could always run for president if you think you can handle it," another

former fan wrote on her post.

"Winning a contest for loudmouths would certainly qualify you for the DNC.

I will never buy your music again.

If I hear it on the radio, I'm changing the station," that same Facebook user added.

Another former fan used the post to give the singer some advice:

"Not a very good way to keep fans.

We have to many liberals who feed off these comments with all the fake news.

You should retract or stay with the people who don't respect the USA or it's leader."

Sharing that same overwhelming sentiment of disappointment, one fan commented, "Don't

know what you said but if you disrespected our president even if someone " just wrote

it for you to say" that is unAmerican and I can no longer respect/follow you.

I thought you were above all of that.

Very sad."

While we would never celebrate in someone's physical accident for any reason, the comments

on this post are what's Underwood's karma.

She's facing the music of what happens when you disrespect Trump and your fans who support

our president and once supported you.

It's disturbing that not a single awards show in the eight years Barack Obama was president

ruthlessly mocked him, as almost every one of them in the past 10 months of Trump's

presidency has.

There would be outrage for days if the tables were turned on this.

These country stars didn't listen to the warnings from their show association and didn't

care about those who pay to see them and support their career.

These singers are not different than the entitled players in the NFL.

They should have learned from the demise of the NFL for going down this same path an now

Underwood's career will likely suffer a similar price for it.

Close your eyes.

And then, thoughts are bombarding you.

You attract those thoughts because you have a relationship with those thoughts.

And where are they stored?

They are stored in the Akash.

Akash is the Ether.

And that's the bank where you have put those thoughts.

And those thoughts are entering through the eyes, through the ears, through the nostril,

both nostrils, through the mouth, and through the skull.

They are entering into the system.

And we are unaware of this process.

The eyes, the ears, the mouth, they are all involved in the process.

They are all receiving these thought patterns that go to constitute your mind.

There are simultaneously other processes going on inside.

How?

Go and think about the entire body, the skin.

Think about the skin from head to foot.

There are innumerable openings in the skin.

The pores are openings through which the thoughts are entering.

So you think through the skin, as well.

The skin is breathing too.

There is a breathing layer of the skin right over the skin.

The moment you begin to do this technique, then you are in another dimension.

Now while you are doing this, what happens is you have the ability to see that you have

not been be able to see.

That is the Beings around, the Angels, because you are into a different state of Consciousness.

All that you are doing is simply focusing your attention on the skin, and the breathing

the skin through the pores in the skin, innumerable.

And if you will just remain in this condition, this is what the Yogis do.

I have been in conversation with the Yogi's who are very committed to help humanity to

get beyond their mind, to get beyond their ego, to get beyond their rationality, to get

beyond their skepticism, to get beyond this illusion of matter.

All of these are perceptual fallacies.

So we are living in a world of fallacy.

So once you focus attention on this, then you are into a different dimension.

Now the breathing of the skin, and there are many, many layers.

At least, there are seven layers over the skin.

Some people say five, some seven, some people say there are more.

These layers constitute your Aura.

We are unaware of all of these.

We are only aware of certain thoughts that we are used to thinking that constitute your

personal Waking State of Mind.

"I'm so-and-so."

"I do this job.

And this is my income."

"This is my bad relationship."

"This is my limited money situation, limited health."

And all of these are a set of identities that you are unable to transcend.

And that is the main problem.

Although teachers have been talking about every moment is new, that's not happening.

What is happening is the same bank balance, the same disease in the body, the same bad

relationship.

They are real.

We have to break that.

These things become real because of the polluted air that you are breathing.

The polluted air carries these thoughts individually.

The air you breathe, the oxygen you breathe, and the oxygen that I breathe are different.

The contents are different.

Now keep focusing on the entire skin and the pores.

There is also something happening through the pores in the skin, something is getting

out, and something is getting in.

Just put that idea.

I don't want to go and complicate it any further than I have done already.

The eyes, the ears, the mouth, the nostrils and the pores of the skin — just focus attention.

That there is another layer on the skin, over the skin

that is responsible to give you the mind principle.

The contents are flowing, the contents mix up with the air that you breathe in.

It is the right time to pray to The Divine because The Divine can enter in an Altered

State of Consciousness.

It can enter through your Aura and help you to change your thought patterns, to change

your health, to change your relationship, everything.

I'm channeling information.

I say I'm doing this.

The Beings that want to help humanity say that, "Ask them to focus on their palms,

and the fingers, the two palms and the fingers.

Let the palms face the sky."

There are two kinds of thinking going on inside you.

One is God thinking.

And then the human thinking.

You are thinking.

And God is also thinking, almost simultaneously.

But you choose to think from your Ego.

Why?

Because of the limitations that's the air that you breathe in, the karmic association

with your Ego, and with a certain content type that you by mistake have decided to associate

with.

Although I am speaking these words, it's not my Ego talking to you.

It's a session filled with Divine Compassion.

You will see images showing up, just as I see a Lion.

You may see something else, but don't allow your human thinking, at least during this

session.

The human thinking is that which will be skeptical, negative, which would say nothing is going

to happen.

I am going to remain the same and die, again all over.

You can change everything about you by associating yourself with the Divine within,

and disassociating yourself with your ego, with your karma, with the polluted air that

gets through your nostrils and then gets into the brain.

This is the Ultimate Teaching.

It's wrong to think that this is the only way to get beyond the mind, the ego, and identify

with God.

There are ever so many the linear realities of saying this is it, this is the only way,

is the human misunderstanding, misperception.

There is nothing local.

There is nothing linear in Divine Consciousness.

There is no Time.

That's why change is possible at any moment.

So that's why I have been teaching my knowledge, for like four decades, with this body and

with this mind that has changed a lot.

But I have never ever felt as satisfied, as I do now when I am teaching this.

And I am doing it out of love with no expectation whatsoever.

It has been given, and it is God's Compassion.

You can do that, but having said that, as I told you, as Time moves, Time is moving

at a tremendous speed now.

That's why we have more progress during this time than ever before in the history of the

human race.

And I am going to be a channel to access this, and give it to you, and that is going to be

the Mystery School Teaching.

So especially for those people who have been studying with me, if you have a question why

do I have to do this?

I have given at least a hundred techniques.

Are they not enough?

Yes and No.

Yes, because they are techniques you won't find, unless you do a lot of research.

So what I have given already are very, very powerful ones, but they all have the limitations

because they were delivered at a time I was not that evolved.

As time goes on, there is more knowledge.

I am trying to access the Wisdom that is going to be revealed in say - 2030.

That's when man is planning to go and live on Mars, but there are many ways of going

to Mars other than just taking the physical body there.

We have to understand a lot more about it.

So what you need to do is just to do this Meditation which I taught you.

There are many elements to it.

You can take everything that I have just said, and then turn it into a separate exercise.

Your life can be changed in the split of a second.

it's a little bit after 9 a.m. and we're just leaving Tracy arm fjord we made the

entire passage between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. this morning now unfortunately we

weren't able to approach the glacier because there was too much concentration

of ice so the captain felt it was dangerous So we made kind of a hard stop up

close to the glacier and flipped around pretty immediately which is a little bit

of a disappointment now I know there's probably a lot of first-time cruisers

that are really bummed that they couldn't see the glacier today but we've

been there done that with Tracy arm it just really hit and miss with this

slasher and a lot of times we don't get to see it so we're kind of accustomed to

but we're enjoying a beautiful ride out of the passage back to channel

so this is a copy in Potter's when I used on the ship and they renovated

back in December and today we are lucky enough to score and ice cream sandwiches

they also have coffee drinks that in the milkshake so again oh and you can also

get regular swirl ice cream cones here vanilla chocolate or combination of

hot tub hoppin for sport today my husband does not do hot tubs

but we're doing hot tubs a little tip for you if you're coming on the Grand

Princess or probably any Princess ship to Alaska is that on the glacier day

they serve reindeer chili and rock fish chowder on the pool deck the covered

pool deck around 11:30 a.m. I don't know if that will be a tradition that

continues but it's kind of cool and nobody seems to be taking advantage of

it there's like no line and everybody's in the buffet and not out here but it's

really a nice beautiful place to be everyone else I think it's just kind of

concentrated around the upper decks just looking around and trying to find places

to stay warm so hot tub hoppin it is dressed today hasn't really been the

first day that we've been able to just rest on this cruise it's been so nice

and while I'm disappointed that we didn't get seat like a leisure this

morning it has been good just kind of mope around I even took a little nap

today yes it's true and we were just getting ready to go out and explore why

don't we heard a knock on the door for room service were like we didn't order

room service what is this mystery and our beautiful sweet travel agent and

Marie got us some chocolate dipped strawberries with a little note from her

yes we are Ann Marie thank you very much let's take a look at these beautiful

strawberries oh there's over 80 you guys very cute

they're pretty little swirls let's give it a taste chocolate strawberry cab so

good so decadent so probably gonna get a little fresh air sorry never system vlog

and eat at the same time. Get a little fresh air go for a spin and then get ready for our

pre-dinner cocktails at club 1 5 and tonight just happens to be Italian night

in the dining room so maybe we'll have some lasagna and some yummy Italian food

tonight this drink of the day is a good old-fashioned gin martini dry no olive

sounded kind of good to me and I was looking for something not too sweet

I keep board right in the cocktail of the day and it's just to cocktail and

not enough for me so anyway we are enjoying our pre-dinner cocktail hour we

finally got a parent early enough to enjoy it

my son is over there humming and reading his kindle and eating a platter of

vegetables he was starving and his stomach was starting to hurt so we're

like let's go get some appetizers anyway we're looking forward to Italian dinner

tonight and we've been sitting here kind of looking over the princess patter for

tomorrow there's so much fun stuff on the agenda tomorrow tomorrow night is

formal night so we're all gonna get dressed up and one of the show's I've

been really anxious to see born to dance which is only debuting on a few princess

ships is playing tomorrow night so you know us you never really know if we're

gonna make it to what we plan on doing but I really want to go tomorrow so

we'll see if that happens but anyway back to the drink of the day good

old-fashioned gin martini let's give it a taste

kind of fun it's not your average Italian food there's no lasagna there's

no chicken parmigiana it's all kind of interesting unique stuff so for the

starters they have a seafood antipasto with a creamy lemon emulsion prosciutto

cone Maloney YUM and an eggplant parmesan which I ordered and then they

have pasta fazool for soup a minestrone iced peach Bellini soup which my husband

ordered YUM and mixed greens baby spinach crisp bacon pika RINO and pine

nuts we both ordered that my husband's not a salad guy but he ordered that

salad then they have a spaghetti with meatballs with the fresh tomato sauce

they're classic fettuccine alfredo then they have a sea bass dish a sea scallop

and shrimp dish over gratinéed whipped potatoes yeah they have a scallop inna

veal with Marsala wine sauce beef pot roast with Tuscan vegetables and polenta

YUM and a breaded chicken breast which I ordered with the mushrooms and fontina

melts and vegetarian lingerie tonight is a zucchini rapini do not team Nazis

which is a cheese and onion stuffing with cannellini beans so anyway do you

need Italian menu I like the fact that they kind of depart from the regular and

they offer a lot of seafood so be sure to watch our food slideshow will put

together all the main dining room food at the end

and of course we'll show you a little piece of it tonight as well and we will

let you know about the desert soon - yummy excited about this

you may not attend lasagna but they do have tiramisu on the dessert menu as

well as cassava alla siciliana which is an ice cream trilogy a sugar-free

semifreddo good old ice cream they have a gelato as Sabbagh Leone totally chinos

Roberto a limoncello okay I'm terrible Italian accent and

then of course the usual stuff so Love Boat dream New York cheesecake creme

brulee available every night creator on Sunday available every night brie and

Gouda and fruit so there's always lots of choices but my husband went with the

tiramisu and I went with the ice cream trilogy which means basically these guys

know I'm not a big sugar lover I'll have a couple bites of it and then

I'll pass it off to the boys and see what we can do but anyway I've been one

of the better dinner nights the Italian that kind of took us by surprise we

thought that it would be like traditional Italian but it was it was

lovely the chicken was lovely the sea bass was lovely the pasta that the head

waiter was making kind of in the center of the dining room was so garlicky and

good it was with fresh Pomodoro fantastic so two big fat thumbs ups for

the Italian dinner tonight we won't tell it was three dollars when I tell you

guys that's a pretty good deal and maybe just maybe do we get to keep this laughs

hey ash when do I get to keep this laughs do we get to keep it the glass

for me three dollars is pretty good deal

okay that's smoke so sweet well let's just say it's like grown-up

lemonade right percolate what's that with lemon and sugar lots of sugar

fantastic but now it's tea time there's some good deals in the gift shop tonight

you guys either I'm a sucker and they always do the discounts or it's the end

of the season and things are half off but my son the other day said that I

needed this shirt right here don't mess with Mama Bear and you guys it's eight

dollars that's pretty good right normally 16 bucks it's pretty cute you

might have to get it it's adorable anyway other cute stuff look at this a

little sleep dress that says barely awake oh I'm kind of messing up the

Treasury Secretary And Bond Villian Wife Pose With Giant Sheet Of Money - Duration: 4:12.

Treasury Secretary, Steve Mnuchin, is quite possibly at this point, at least this week,

the dumbest person within the entire Trump administration.

Now, before we get into what Mnuchin did this week, let's go ahead and take a look back

at his history.

He is the guy who, as you remember, took his wife on a government-funded private jet to

go watch the eclipse from the top of Fort Knox.

Taxpayers paid for that trip and he got in a lot of hot water about it.

This week, knowing that he has a history of kind of screwing over US taxpayers and US

consumers, he decided it would be a great idea, it would be great optics for he and

his wife to take a visit to the US Treasury, where they took a picture of themselves, several

pictures actually, holding up giant sheets of $1 bills that now bear Steve Mnuchin's

signature because he is the Secretary of the Treasury.

As you look at those pictures, it's not just Mnuchin's goofy little face that stands out

here, and we'll get more into Mnuchin's past in just a moment, but his wife.

Look at the expression on this woman's face first when she sees the money and then when

she's holding it up.

I mean, for the love of God, this woman looks exactly like a Bond villain.

I am sorry, I mean no disrespect, but Mnuchin, you've got to look at these pictures and understand

that this is a woman who does not care about you in the least.

Now, to quote Kanye, "I ain't saying she's a gold digger, but ... " You know the rest.

Anyway, back to Mnuchin, this guy posing with the money that now bears his signature.

In case you aren't familiar with his history beyond the little Fort Knox eclipse fiasco,

he at one point was with Goldman Sachs.

As Senator Elizabeth Warren described him, he was the Forrest Gump of the economic collapse

in the United States because he always seemed to stumble into these situations, make a hell

of a lot of money for himself, and screw things up for everybody else.

In between Goldman Sachs stints, he was the CEO of a bank called OneWest Bank, where an

investigation detailed his involvement, or his bank's involvement which he was running,

in over 1,000 illegal activities during Mnuchin's tenure at that bank.

1,000.

He's also the guy who many people remember locked a woman out of her home and were about

to foreclose on it over 27 cents.

The woman owed 27 cents and Mnuchin, this heartless piece of crap, decided to lock her

out of her home.

They were going to take it if she didn't pay 27 cents.

Here he is with his super villain wife, posing with sheets of dollar bills, when, in fact,

this man should be in prison.

Unfortunately, we have Kamala Harris in part to thank for that, who did not prosecute Steve

Mnuchin.

It wouldn't even take a genius prosecutor at this point.

An investigation found that his company, while he was running it, engaged in more than 1,000

illegal activities.

You'll Push Her Away If You Do This… - Duration: 5:17.

Hey. I'm gearing up for a big trip right now. I know this room is completely

messy and pretty crazy. That's because Brittany and I are going

on a trip. That's right, a long trip where I'll still be vlogging, taking the camera,

still making YouTube videos, giving dating advice. But doing it all from

Southeast Asia. First stop is Vietnam then Thailand and then Cambodia and

then we'll see what happens from there. One thing I was thinking about was

the idea of attraction. I'm always teaching you about how to attract girls,

how to bring them closer to you. But I really don't talk enough about the

things that repel a woman, the things that actually make her not attracted,

that make her disinterested, some mistakes that I see guys doing all the time. These

are guys that I've worked with in the past through coaching, these are guys in

my private Facebook group Tripp's Corner who are constantly saying that they're

doing things and I'm just kind of cringing at the idea of what guys are

doing and so I want to help you out today in terms of what you might be

doing that's pushing her away. I'd say one of the main things that pushes a

girl away is the idea of seeking validation and a lot of guys do this. That

means that they're trying to get validated by the girl and that is a way

to get them to like them. They think that getting validation equals the girl

liking them. I know it seems counterintuitive but that's really what

you don't want to do. You might think okay yeah let's do things to agree

with her, let's get her on your side, let's make sure that everything is

really copacetic between you two, that everything goes really smoothly and then

she'll become attracted. But that's not the case. Sometimes when guys are trying

to seek validation or get the girls to like them, they do in the wrong way it

actually turns them off. What are some examples of seeking validation? One

example is softening your opinion when someone disapproves. Let's say that

you have an opinion on something, maybe something that's going on in the world

today, something with politics or something that's going on with you know

all this sexual assault stuff that's happening. Whatever your opinion is and

then you're talking to a girl about it and she disagrees and you kind of you

know soften that idea. You're kind of like oh no well I mean I don't really think

that or oh no that's not something I really believe

or-or-or well you know I think I can be swayed. What's your opinion? When you

do that you're automatically putting off this really bad vibe that

you're just trying to seek validation and just get her to like you by just

doing the things that she believes in. The problem with that is that's not a

very masculine quality. One of the masculine qualities that you know a guy

like you should have is really sticking to his beliefs and sticking firm to his

ideals and his values and not having to shift that just because a girl might

think differently. Just because anyone might think differently. Similar to that

is agreeing when you don't actually agree. This is a big problem. It's

like a girl is saying something and you're like oh yeah, me too, me too oh

yeah I agree with that or yeah oh definitely I believe that and hey it's

one thing if you actually do. I'm not telling you to lie but let's be honest.

Not every single person is going to agree on every single thing and just

because you agree with them that doesn't mean that she's automatically gonna like

you. A girl is gonna like you and she respects you and respects the fact that

you're gonna stick up for what you believe in and what your opinions are

and not swaying just because someone else says something. It's okay to get

someone else's opinion and say okay I see how you see that but really

disagreeing with her because you are standing behind your beliefs is a way to

get her to respect you and even though I know that's counterintuitive, just make

sure that whenever you're talking to someone, guy or a girl,

you're not just swaying to their side to get them to like you. Again, this is

seeking validation. Another thing guys do a lot of is they over compliment.

They think that compliments are gonna get a girl to like them. When you're

really nice to a girl and you say nice things to her then she's really

gonna like you. And yes compliments are great, but when you over compliment it's not that

genuine anymore. It's not genuine, it's not real and she can tell that

you're only doing it to get her to like you. I guess my big point here in what

I'm trying to say is you don't want to just do things to get people to like you

when it's not something you're trying to do. It's disingenuous and people read

through that and when a girl or a guy sees that you're disingenuous, that

you're not congruent with who you are, it shows a weakness, it shows an insecurity

and that's the last thing I want from you. I don't want you to be insecure

and I don't want a girl to see that you're insecure. I want you to work on

your security, believing in yourself and then going into the

interaction that way because that my friend is a way to attract her and

not repel her. I want you to be brutally honest with me and our community here.
