Youtube daily report w Nov 16 2017

hi beauties welcome back to my channel or if you're new to my channel welcome

I'm Jenny beyouty and today I just wanted to do kind of the chatty little get

ready with me basically I'm just going to be using some products that I got in

my Sephora box and also some products that I've purchased lately and just kind

of chitchat with you about things that are happening in my life and kind of

things that I want to do in my future so if you'd like to see this video please

just keep on watching so first off I'm just going to start by priming my skin

with the Urban Decay quick fix I got this in my Sephora play in the month of

October so I wanted to try it out I haven't tried it yet so and then I'm

just gonna rub it in it smells like coconut it is actually coconut water and

Diane's finna my I don't know how you say that

but basically it's just supposed to hydrate your skin and since the weather

is getting cold clearly I'm moving breakouts but also I

need more hydration so yeah I woke up this morning with a little bit of snow

on the ground so that was fun it was like literally seventy one two

days ago so it's just crazy I hate the transition into winter I'm not a winter

person right so then I'm just going to fill in my pores with the benefit

Porefessional this is something I use quite a bit because it really does just

fill in the pores really well alright and then I'm going to be using the Make

Up For Ever Ultra HD foundation this foundation is in the shade Y 335 and it

is from my Sephora play box and literally I've had this foundation like

one other time and they gave me the exact color that I use so I thought that

was pretty cool I'm just gonna use it on a beauty sponge this sponge is really

good I recently got it in a package from a company and I'll have to find which

sponge it is because it's literally only a few bucks and it is really nice I've

had a couple little issues with it as far as like if it's too wet it'll take

off the product instead of putting it but if you know how to use it it's a

really nice sponge I find that with the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD foundation I

really have to apply quite a bit to cover up like any pimples or anything

that I have because it is a it's a medium coverage but I'd say it's on the

light to medium side it's definitely not a full coverage foundation at least the

liquid form I've never tried the stick form all right I think I'm going to put

a little bit of concealer on my pimple because this isn't just covering it up

as easily event like it to a couple little spots over here this winter air

just does not work well with my skin especially when it's like an abrupt

change like it has been so hopefully it'll calm down pretty soon because I

don't I can't handle acne again I really just can't I wanted to talk to you guys

about something today um it's a little different you may have

seen me posting things about it on my Instagram basically I want to start a

boutique on Poshmark um so basically the idea behind it is

I love boutique clothing but I feel like it's just so darn expensive and I don't

know if it's because most people order their things from Los Angeles and like

everything's more expensive out there or really I don't know what the deal is but

I've always thought like boutique clothing should not be this expensive

like they're so cute but I just never buy them because like I don't want to

pay $50 for a top you know so basically I have found a way that I think I can

sell boutique clothing to you guys for less

um and I'm just excited about it I already made a Poshmark account and I've

posted a shirt on there because what I want to do is kind of start off slow and

just kind of see what you guys think I want to be able to post photos of things

and let you guys kind of decide what you want and what you'd like to see me sell

and stuff like that I don't want to have like huge amount inventory I just kind

of want to like take baby steps into it and kind of just see how it goes because

maybe I'm wrong maybe I can't sell boutique clothing for less but I really

think that I can so anyways I have a couple shirts that I went ahead and

purchased super cute it's just one shirt but I gotta go in a couple different

sizes so if you guys would just let me know what you think about the price

about the style I'm gonna post some photos in this video and I'll also post

some photos of like things that I'd like to get in the future and then you guys

just let me know what you think

you

maybe this is a bad idea but I don't know I think I think it could work so

yeah and let me know like what you're willing to spend what you think about

the shipping on Poshmark because I know it's kind of like a weird way to start

but basically I want to wait and make a website until I know for sure like this

is gonna work because I might just be like shooting myself in the foot with

doing the lower prices maybe there's a reason the prices are so high and I just

haven't figured it out yet but anyways I've been doing a bunch of research I've

been finding products I've been getting all the stuff together to be able to

sell it and all that so yeah I'd love to be able to like take recommendations on

like current items that boutiques already have and just see if I can find

them and the places I shop because I'm going to try to stay away from the Los

Angeles boutique um wholesalers and just stay more like in

areas like where I live because the prices are much cheaper and we might not

be able to get the Styles that every other week has but I think we can get a

lot of really cute things so yeah just let me know what you guys

think leave me a comment on items you like you can tweet me photos of things

you like what sizes are the best I don't know I probably can get some plus size

things but those are gonna be a little more tough but I will definitely try and

I think this could like really be a lot of fun my husband and I have always kind

of like tried to find ways to start our own business

I'd love to eventually work from home I currently have a job I'm a clerk at an

ammunition plant and I mean I like my job I think it's fine and I'm working on

getting some things going at my regular job to progress me there in case this

doesn't work out because you never know what's gonna work out and

but I also kind of wanted to work on something that I'd really love to do

like I would love to own a boutique and eventually I work on getting my own

website my husband would love to design a website and getting free shipping in

things because the way Poshmark works is basically you have to pay like the flat

rate shipping so if you were to order from my boutique you could like combine

three or four different things and pay one flat rate shipping or if you just

bought one thing it would still be the same price but I figured that was the

easiest way to get started and just see what what you guys think so

yeah I will leave all the info on that stuff double well if you want to go

check it out I don't know I'm really excited about it so hopefully you guys

like the idea and you'd be willing to support me and I'd really appreciate it

um but anyways so I just used the Kat Von D concealer under my eyes

and to highlight the face it's the locket concealer and the shade cool m-19

so I don't know this can see like doesn't crease too bad I kind of liked

it and that was also out of Sephora play like a couple months ago next I'm just

going to set my concealer with my Rimmel stay matte powder I feel like there's so

many more things I wanted to say about the whole boutique idea but I just I'm

drawing a blank right now so I don't know um I just have it under my first

and last name right now which is pretty Sieber I didn't know if I should put it

under my youtube name and like associate them with each other so I just figured

right now I'll just do it under my name and then if I ever get a website I can

um come up with the name and all that stuff then but I don't know I mean I'll

definitely be taking more like outfit of the day photos I just don't have a

really good mirror in my house for all that so I need to look into getting one

of those because I do love clothes and shoes so much and

I just never really like talked about them I don't go shopping for clothes and

shoes that often and the biggest reason like I wanted to do this at better

prices is because I am literally always sharp sharp

oh I shop at Marshall's and TJ Maxx and their prices are just so dang good that

I can't justify spending $50 on a shirt like 20 dollars that's about my range 20

or $30 I mean depending on what it looks like that's totally my range and I feel

like that's a lot of people's range I don't like to spend a ton of money on

clothes because I work hard for my money and I spend a lot of it on makeup so I

don't really have much you know to spend on clothes and also pay all my bills and

do all the whole shebang so anyways yeah so my price ranges I mean for like

shirts will range from 15 to probably $30 and then pants I really want to keep

them at like 25 range plus size may go up a couple bucks just because I don't

really know how those work exactly yet but um I'm looking for my bronzer I'm

gonna use those Neutrogena Healthy Skin bronzer in the shade 30 sunkissed and

bronzed skin why I'm so bad at multitasking but anyways um pants I want

to keep them at a twenty five ish dollar range and shoes also around that range

maybe a little bit more I know shoes or they kind of vary a little bit depending

on if they're like boots or what they are I mean sandals will obviously be

pretty cheap I would assume and then you know your boots are gonna go a little

higher and then I don't know if I'm like purses and stuff I mean we'll just have

to like figure it out as we go I think it could be a lot of fun as

specially I'd love to just like have people involved in every decision of

like what I'm getting and what the quantity should be I want I don't know I

just think it'll be fun so and I can always do like three stops

of any items that a lot of people like hopefully I can get back on the site

real quick order them again and get them in oh yeah I'm just gonna stop talking

about that now because I don't want to be too annoying so now I'm going to move

on to clock touring and I just this elf contour palette in my last video or the

drugstore makeup tutorial video or I use the Jaclyn help out and stuff and I just

thought it looks so freakin good so I'm gonna use it again because I really

liked it and I don't know if it's the contour palette or if it's a small fee

brush I got it's the morphe y9 but I felt like it just went on and looked so

beautiful in that video so we're just gonna work with that again why not I'm

using the darkest shade see how like nice and blended and like seamless that

looks I feel like it looks so much better than it did with my other brush

and this brush just like glides on the skin really nicely so it's probably just

the brush but I loved the way it looked so I wanted to use it again alright so

anyways what have you guys been up to what is going on new in your life leave

me a comment let me know what's been going on how's your weather I know in

California they're having like they're still having like wildfires and it's 100

degrees and I'm just so jealous I'm rich you know I wish I could complain about

me hundred degrees instead of twenty-eight and snowy I'm just not cut

out for this life you know I'm really not so I also am going to use

some of the desi Katy collection from dose of colors in this video because

they did their last restock and I just I had to get something because I just

loved them so much and it's weird I feel like I know them I feel like I have to

support them so I got the Sahaj liquid lipstick which I'm going to use today

and then I got the mere ma highlighter and I haven't used them yet I mean it

kind of swatch them a little bit but haven't actually put them on the face

with makeup so I'm really excited to use those let's see how baby I'm just going

to kind of carve out my cheekbones with some Rimmel powder make that look a

little bit more clean well now I'm going to move on to blush and keep going to

you the Milani Luminoso baked blush that's really pretty blush and also

super cheap and I used it in that last video as well and forgot how pretty it

was and I need to use it before it expires so that's what I'm trying to do

this thing pimples still coming out little jerk now I'm going to use the

madam a highlighter this packaging so freaking pretty I can't even handle it

so gorgeous and then this is obviously the darker highlighter I thought I don't

know I just thought it would look better on me then the lighter one hopefully

it's not too dark it's my only concern because it is very rose gold looking in

the pan so let's see how this looks okay yeah that is really pretty

not too dark for me perfect good I was a little scared because in the pan I mean

I don't know I feel like that looks pretty dark so good I'm excited I've

never used a dose of colors highlighter before I don't know are these the first

ones they've ever done or what but they are really nice very smooth and

pigmented kind of reminds me of like the Jaclyn hill champagne pop formula just a

really nice smooth soft formula yeah this highlighter is so pretty

very nice very very nice I'm going to do like the most simple I look today

literally 100 percent easy I'm just gonna use my morphe and Jaclyn hill

palette I think I'm gonna start with like this yellow shade and just apply

that on the crease kind of see how she looks I'm just using literally it's like

a morphe brushes pack I can't remember exactly how much it was but now that

there are Ulta I feel like everything at morphe is such a better deal because the

shipping isn't ridiculous so anyways it's just like the eye essentials pack

and I've been really liking it and they don't oh I'm sorry I am using the morphe

m4 for one but they don't have numbers on the central I pack this is just a

brush I had previously but yeah they're really nice really soft super easy to

use and I really like them so yeah alright and then I'm just going to take

this shade right next to it and just blend that into my crease as well I felt

like that yellowish shade it was a little light so I want to deepen it up

just smidge I'm just going to kind of blend it like all over the lid and

everything and as you can see I'm just kind of like feathering it out I don't

want this to be like too precise or anything

just kind of nice and blended and I'm just going to highlight the inner corner

and the brow bone and that's literally all I'm going to do I'm just going to

use the second shade in the palette which is just basically like a cream

highlight color and just place that right in the inner corner oh my goodness

okay Oh hmm I was not expecting that much to come off honestly then I'm just

going to mix those exact same two colors that I used in the crease and on the lid

I'm just going to mix them and apply those to the lower lash line like I said

I just want this to be a nice simple look so I just wanted to create a little

bit of definition on the eyes I'm not gonna use any false lashes today I'm

just going to use the cosmetic superhero mascara this is a very like intense

mascara super pretty gives me lots of volume and I really like it so literally

one coat literally one coat all right so next I'm just going to work on my brows

I think we're gonna use the on Safia dip brow today I'm using the shade medium

brown hopefully it still matches since I dyed my eyebrows today we shall see it I

guess feel like I've kind of stopped talking so let's get back on to a

different subject um basically I wanted to talk about like dieting um so right

now I'm doing like a low carb type diet a keto diet um I've been getting a lot

of inspiration from Meg cat here on YouTube she has like a Facebook group

and I've done the low carb diet before but and it really works I mean it does

um but I've just been eating like crap for the past few months and I've

literally gained like 15 pounds so I want to lose like 15 pounds like I was

looking through my Instagram and

when I started YouTube I was so much smaller and that was two years ago so

yeah I need to do something because I just don't feel very good in my skin so

yeah I'm going to work on that hopefully if you guys want to see like recipes or

updates or something I can do that in the future I'm gonna try to start

working out more and working on meeting my goals but yeah I've been tracking

like my macros which I haven't really like graphs grasp the whole idea of yet

but I'm trying to figure it out so if you are doing the keto diet or like

basically the Atkins diet let me know what tips you have let me know what you

like to eat I've found some good alternatives for bread and pasta so if

you want to sorry guys my camera shut off on me

basically I finished my brows and set them with the glossy a boy brow and just

the translucent color but basically what I was talking about I don't remember

exactly where it cut me off but I was just saying that if you'd like recipes

that are like keto friendly for alternatives to foods that we really

love and hate giving up on these kinds of diets just let me know I would love

to do videos on that I just didn't know if that'd be something anybody would be

interested in and also like if you want updated videos on how my goals are

coming and all that stuff I can do those well just let me know also I will leave

like meg cats Facebook group and her videos down below because she's been

talking about all the stuff and she has been doing really well

so I've so far only lost like two pounds but anyways I'm gonna take the dose

colors Sahaj liquid lipstick and just give myself a vampy look today and I'm

gonna do a little chapstick first just to like give it my space

my skin and everything is just drying out I know that looks really girls but

we're gonna cover it up so I haven't used this yet super-excited

does he Katy collection I don't know if it's all gone yet but I had to get

something oh wow that's really pigmented the applicator feels a little different

nice I like it alright guys so this is about as good as I'm going to get the

lips anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this video I hope you enjoyed this look

and just chit-chatting with me a little bit and also don't forget to give this

video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it and subscribe to my channel for more videos

teeth subscribe to my channel so you don't miss out on videos like this one

Opening An Online Boutique | Keto Diet | Chit Chat GRWM Simple Fall Makeup - Duration: 24:28.

hi beauties welcome back to my channel or if you're new to my channel welcome

I think we're gonna use the on Safia dip brow today I'm using the shade medium

brown hopefully it still matches since I dyed my eyebrows today we shall see it I

guess feel like I've kind of stopped talking so let's get back on to a

different subject um basically I wanted to talk about like dieting um so right

now I'm doing like a low carb type diet a keto diet um I've been getting a lot

of inspiration from Meg cat here on YouTube she has like a Facebook group

and I've done the low carb diet before but and it really works I mean it does

um but I've just been eating like crap for the past few months and I've

literally gained like 15 pounds so I want to lose like 15 pounds like I was

looking through my Instagram and

when I started YouTube I was so much smaller and that was two years ago so

yeah I need to do something because I just don't feel very good in my skin so

yeah I'm going to work on that hopefully if you guys want to see like recipes or

updates or something I can do that in the future I'm gonna try to start

working out more and working on meeting my goals but yeah I've been tracking

like my macros which I haven't really like graphs grasp the whole idea of yet

but I'm trying to figure it out so if you are doing the keto diet or like

basically the Atkins diet let me know what tips you have let me know what you

like to eat I've found some good alternatives for bread and pasta so if

you want to sorry guys my camera shut off on me

basically I finished my brows and set them with the glossy a boy brow and just

the translucent color but basically what I was talking about I don't remember

exactly where it cut me off but I was just saying that if you'd like recipes

that are like keto friendly for alternatives to foods that we really

love and hate giving up on these kinds of diets just let me know I would love

to do videos on that I just didn't know if that'd be something anybody would be

interested in and also like if you want updated videos on how my goals are

coming and all that stuff I can do those well just let me know also I will leave

like meg cats Facebook group and her videos down below because she's been

talking about all the stuff and she has been doing really well

so I've so far only lost like two pounds but anyways I'm gonna take the dose

colors Sahaj liquid lipstick and just give myself a vampy look today and I'm

gonna do a little chapstick first just to like give it my space

my skin and everything is just drying out I know that looks really girls but

we're gonna cover it up so I haven't used this yet super-excited

does he Katy collection I don't know if it's all gone yet but I had to get

something oh wow that's really pigmented the applicator feels a little different

nice I like it alright guys so this is about as good as I'm going to get the

lips anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this video I hope you enjoyed this look

and just chit-chatting with me a little bit and also don't forget to give this

video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it and subscribe to my channel for more videos

like this one sorry I'm so self-conscious there's something on my

teeth subscribe to my channel so you don't miss out on videos like this one

Taxpayers Are Paying For Donald Trump's Legal Fees - Duration: 4:03.

Since becoming President of the United States, Donald Trump has found numerous ways to profit

off of the presidency.

As many people have pointed out, Donald Trump was the first person to ever come into the

office of the presidency as a brand.

His name unfortunately is a brand.

It's very hard to disconnect the brand from the presidency, and that's why Donald Trump

has been profiting off it since day one.

As one would expect, he has been sued multiple times by multiple different organizations

for profiting off of the presidency, and guess who's footing those legal bills for him?

It's not him.

It's not his children.

No, it's you, the US taxpayer.

We are paying the salaries of no fewer than 10 Justice Department employees, salaries

ranging from 133,000 to 185,000 dollars a year whose sole purpose is to fend off these

lawsuits against Donald Trump and protect the profits of his business.

These are career Justice Department employees who get paid with US tax dollars, and their

job is to protect Donald Trump and his business interests from all of the conflict of interest

lawsuits that the president is currently facing.

Now, I don't know about you, but I personally happen to believe that if a private citizen,

to not even private citizen, excuse me.

If a United States citizen gets sued, it is the responsibility of that person to provide

their own legal help.

If they cannot, then one will be appointed to them by the court.

That's kind of how the Constitution of the United States goes.

You don't get to shift those bills over to US taxpayers just because you don't feel like

paying them or because you feel that as president the Justice Department is your own personal

little bank of lawyers that you can pull out to do your personal bidding whenever you feel

the need to do so.

That's not how this country works.

Once again, we're in a situation where we're forced to remind people that this is not normal.

We are paying over one million dollars a year if you take the minimum salary of 133,000

a year, multiply it by 10, more than a million dollars a year from US taxpayers to foot Donald

Trump's legal bills.

That's not a ton of money in the grand scheme of things.

I mean you can't go out there and give every teacher in this country.

You can't build a new bridge, but you could sure as hell maybe fund a few homeless shelters,

maybe give health insurance to a couple of people, maybe do something that actually mattered

with that money instead of trying to defend a millionaire of billionaire or whatever the

hell he is from a few lawsuits because he keeps profiting off of this job that he currently

has.

Hopefully he will not have this job too much longer, because I am absolutely sick and tired

of seeing this man use this office to put more money in his pocket.

Anytime any kind of legal problem erupts for him, it's either the taxpayers of the Republican

Party that's forced to foot the bill.

Donald Trump allegedly has enough money to pay for his own bills, but we know from history

he doesn't like to do that.

However, in this particular instance and really in every instance, Donal Trump needs to be

paying these legal bills himself or, if he chooses, he could go with a court ordered

public defender or somebody to help fight off these charges.

It is not my responsibility to pay his legal bills, and it's not your responsibility to

pay his legal bills, yet that is exactly what's happening in this country today.

Why America Doesn't Win Wars Like It Used To | William Ruger - Duration: 6:36.

As a realist, I'm not naïve about the world.

It can be a dangerous place and that's one of the reasons why we have to have a strong

national defense.

And it sometimes means we have to actually use our military power against other countries

and other organizations that might threaten us or that have attacked us—that's the

reality of the world.

But we really do need to think about a foreign policy that is careful to focus on our interests

and is cognizant of those human costs.

And I think that it isn't being mushy-headed to say: look, there are people—real people—harmed

by our activities.

You can think about those soldiers killed overseas.

Now it's one thing if they're killed in a war like World War II—a war that was necessary

for America to fight for its safety against a really bad regime like Nazi Germany—and

another thing to think about a situation where we're trying to engage in regime change

against a country that offers very little threat to the United States, and may be a

bad regime, like in the case of Saddam Hussein's Iraq, but a regime that has not directly attacked

us and is not necessarily a threat to core American interests.

And we need to think hard about what those costs would be in that situation.

And the human costs are quite powerful, and we can see that here in America, if you visit

a military hospital you can see people who have lost limbs or you could see it in communities

where there are people suffering from things like PTSD that are less obvious to the eye.

But you also see it down range and oftentimes we read the newspaper and it says, "three

American soldiers killed here or there."

But those are people with families that care about them, parents who love them.

We need to think about that and to make sure that if you're going to ask people to make

that ultimate sacrifice that they're not doing so in vain.

That there is a real sense of the urgency about why we need to do this: it tiers up

to our safety, it's necessary to do so, the other alternatives in the toolkit of statecraft

have been exhausted, and that you have an understanding of how to prosecute that conflict

and how to get out so that we're not just endlessly expending money and people's lives

on something that isn't working.

So we need leaders to think about those things and to recognize that.

And one of the things that I would recommend is to go over to the newer parts of Arlington

cemetery, and you can see that cost.

And again, if that cost is worth paying because it's necessary, I understand.

My grandfather fought in World War II.

He was wounded in action, was captured by the Germans and sent to a POW camp.

And he suffered from his experiences there throughout his life.

Well that's a cost that was worth paying, and lots of people—hundreds of thousands

of people—suffered far more than my grandfather did.

They gave the ultimate sacrifice.

But for a war of choice, a war that tiers up to some idealistic goal that's unrealizable,

we really need to think hard about those costs.

Think about Vietnam—and a lot of people are watching the documentary series—and

you see some of the really bad ideas and bad incentives involved in the prosecution of

that war.

And you really feel for the 58,000 American lives that were lost there and the hundreds

of thousands of lives lost, innocent lives lost, throughout the Vietnamese county whether

in the north or the south.

And it's just heart wrenching.

But it's no different when it's on a smaller scale, when it's a place like Iraq or a

place like Libya.

And fortunately the United States did not lose a lot of people in Libya, but the fact

is we've created a situation that has a cost there as well.

And again, presidents and congress need to think primarily about America's interests,

but when we're trying to help people abroad you need to think about what the consequences

are going to be for those who are ostensibly trying to help.

And oftentimes that has led to bad results.

So in general over the last 15 to 25 years our foreign policy simply isn't working.

It is not making us safer.

And that's why we need to reconsider what we're doing.

We need to rethink our grand strategy.

We need to rethink how we're using diplomacy and economic levers of statecraft.

We need to rethink our budgets and the types of platforms we're building and the types

of missions we want to send our troops on.

This is vitally important so that we can rightsize the military for the challenges ahead.

And I don't think we're doing that, which is why we need to bring new voices into the

conversation.

The other thing I think that we should ask for is: we would like our executives to practice

humility.

That means that they need to understand what they don't know, and to have that be part

of the decision-making process.

Sure we can talk about, "Well, we're not sure what would happen, but we have to plan

for it."

Sure, but if you're really having to plan for so many things based on assumptions upon

assumptions upon assumptions you can have a situation in which you can't actually

satisfy the conditions for success except in theory.

An approach that is focused on greater realism and more prudentialism in our foreign policy

does not mean that the United States should abandon the world.

The United States needs to be engaged abroad in terms of trading with other countries,

providing positive-sum outcomes between peoples, diplomacy, cultural engagement, people to

people engagement.

We can be engaged in the world and open to the world without thinking that the United

States needs to be everywhere and without the United States having to lead and be militarily

deployed to every part of the globe.

So that's really important, that we not throw the baby out with the bath water, right.

The United States can be engaged internationally; it can avoid xenophobia or isolation without

spreading American democracy, say, through the sword, or being forward-deployed in so

many parts of the world and trying to be deeply engaged in all kinds of local conflicts in

every part of the world.

United States v. Windsor - Duration: 6:32.

This video is a collaboration with Tristan from Step Back History.

Be sure to check out his video about Edith Windsor after you are done watching this video.

Mr. Beat presents

Supreme Court Briefs

Toronto, Canada

May 2007

After being in a relationship together for 44 years, Edith Windsor and Thea Spyer get married.

In Canada, same-sex marriage is legal.

However, in New York City, where Edie and Thea live, it is not.

In fact, at the time the United States had a law called the Defense of Marriage Act, aka DOMA, which defined (marriage) as the union of one man and one woman.

That law also said states didn't have to recognize same-sex marriages that were granted in other states

So even when the state of New York recognized their marriage the next year, the federal government did not.

Thea died in 2009, leaving her estate to Edie Windsor. Windsor tried to get the federal estate tax exemption since she was a surviving spouse.

However, she couldn't due to DOMA, which said this exemption didn't apply to same-sex marriage.

Everyone's favorite organization, the Internal Revenue Service, or IRS, denied Windsor's claim, and said she had to pay more than $363,000 in estate taxes.

Well, she did pay it, but on November 9, 2010, Windsor sued the federal government seeking a refund saying this was discrimination and that DOMA was unconstitutional.

While the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York was looking at the case, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the Department of Justice would not defend the constitutionality of the part of DOMA that applied to Windsor's case.

Despite this momentum for Windsor, she faced opposition from Paul Clement and the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group, or BLAG, who stepped in to defend DOMA.

On June 6, 2012, Judge Barbara Jones declared Section 3 of DOMA unconstitutional as it went against the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment.

Jones ordered a tax refund, including interest, for Windsor.

The Department of Justice appeared to want to allow this case to become the law of the land and seemed to predict that this would happen, which may explain why it allowed an appeal from Clement and BLAG.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit agreed with the lower court.

Judge Dennis Jacobs wrote, "Our straightforward legal analysis sidesteps the fair point that same-sex marriage is unknown to history and tradition, but law (federal or state) is not concerned with holy matrimony.

Government deals with marriage as a civil status—however fundamental—and New York has elected to extend that status to same-sex couples."

But the Justice Department wasn't done yet.

It wrote the Supreme Court, seeking judicial review of the decisions of both the District Court and Appellate Court.

BLAG also petitioned the Supreme Court to review it.

Well, obviously, the Court agreed to take on the case (After all this is an episode of SUPREME COURT BRIEFS, am I right, am I right?), and they heard oral arguments on March 27, 2013.

On June 26, 2013, they announced their decision, voting 5-4 in favor of Windsor.

The Court held that Section 3 of DOMA, the one that said marriages could only be between men and women, was unconstitutional under the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment.

Basically, they argued the Constitution said the federal government couldn't step in to treat state-sanctioned marriages between men and women differently than state-sanctioned marriages between those of the same gender.

Justice Anthony Kennedy was pretty much the swing vote on this.

Many were not sure where the conservative leaning justice would stand on such a socially liberal issue.

Oh did the Court talk trash about DOMA.

They wrote, "DOMA undermines both the public and private significance of state-sanctioned same-sex marriages;

for it tells those couples, and all the world, that their otherwise valid marriages are unworthy of federal recognition.

This places same-sex couples in an unstable position of being in a second-tier marriage.

The differentiation demeans the couple, whose moral and sexual choices the Constitution protects."

Now, we have to recognize the four justices who disagreed.

In their dissent, they suggested this decision was politically charged and just not necessary- they argued Windsor could have received her tax refund if they just dismissed the case.

Both Justice John Roberts and Justice Antonin Scalia argued it wasn't the Supreme Court's job to decide in this case. It was out of their jurisdiction.

Regardless, this case, United States v. Windsor, caused the President at the time, Barack Obama, to expand rights for same-sex couples who were federal workers and those who received federal benefits.

The case also caused a wave of lawsuits in states where there were same-sex marriage bans.

The case directly led Obergefell v. Hodges, a case that came two years that completely legalized same sex marriage in all 50 states.

I have a video about that case and you can check it out by clicking on that creepy "I" in the right hand corner.

After the Supreme Court victory, Edie Windsor had said "If I had to survive Thea, what a glorious way to do it."

By this time, she had become an inspiration to gay rights activists everywhere.

Windsor ended up marrying another woman after this case, but passed away on September 12, 2017, just a couple months before this video's release.

I'll see you for the next Supreme Court case, jury!

If you want to find out more about the life of Edith Windsor, be sure to check out the video below from my friend Tristan over at Step Back History.

He goes into a lot more depth than I do, obviously, about her life.

And you should definitely subscribe to his channel while you're over there. It's one of the best history YouTube channels around.

Also, remember to check out my Supreme Court Briefs episode about Obergefell v. Hodges, which is really the next chapter for the battle for same-sex marriage across the entire United States.

Treasury Secretary And Bond Villian Wife Pose With Giant Sheet Of Money - Duration: 4:12.

Treasury Secretary, Steve Mnuchin, is quite possibly at this point, at least this week,

the dumbest person within the entire Trump administration.

Now, before we get into what Mnuchin did this week, let's go ahead and take a look back

at his history.

He is the guy who, as you remember, took his wife on a government-funded private jet to

go watch the eclipse from the top of Fort Knox.

Taxpayers paid for that trip and he got in a lot of hot water about it.

This week, knowing that he has a history of kind of screwing over US taxpayers and US

consumers, he decided it would be a great idea, it would be great optics for he and

his wife to take a visit to the US Treasury, where they took a picture of themselves, several

pictures actually, holding up giant sheets of $1 bills that now bear Steve Mnuchin's

signature because he is the Secretary of the Treasury.

As you look at those pictures, it's not just Mnuchin's goofy little face that stands out

here, and we'll get more into Mnuchin's past in just a moment, but his wife.

Look at the expression on this woman's face first when she sees the money and then when

she's holding it up.

I mean, for the love of God, this woman looks exactly like a Bond villain.

I am sorry, I mean no disrespect, but Mnuchin, you've got to look at these pictures and understand

that this is a woman who does not care about you in the least.

Now, to quote Kanye, "I ain't saying she's a gold digger, but ... " You know the rest.

Anyway, back to Mnuchin, this guy posing with the money that now bears his signature.

In case you aren't familiar with his history beyond the little Fort Knox eclipse fiasco,

he at one point was with Goldman Sachs.

As Senator Elizabeth Warren described him, he was the Forrest Gump of the economic collapse

in the United States because he always seemed to stumble into these situations, make a hell

of a lot of money for himself, and screw things up for everybody else.

In between Goldman Sachs stints, he was the CEO of a bank called OneWest Bank, where an

investigation detailed his involvement, or his bank's involvement which he was running,

in over 1,000 illegal activities during Mnuchin's tenure at that bank.

1,000.

He's also the guy who many people remember locked a woman out of her home and were about

to foreclose on it over 27 cents.

The woman owed 27 cents and Mnuchin, this heartless piece of crap, decided to lock her

out of her home.

They were going to take it if she didn't pay 27 cents.

Here he is with his super villain wife, posing with sheets of dollar bills, when, in fact,

this man should be in prison.

Unfortunately, we have Kamala Harris in part to thank for that, who did not prosecute Steve

Mnuchin.

It wouldn't even take a genius prosecutor at this point.

An investigation found that his company, while he was running it, engaged in more than 1,000

illegal activities.

1,000 individual instances of law breaking while Steve Mnuchin was the CEO of OneWest

Bank.

Instead of being in prison, he's allowed to be not only Treasury Secretary, but to walk

around freely with his wife and take pictures of his stupid, disgusting, little face holding

up pallets of $1 bills, never forgetting the fact that he once foreclosed on not just one

person, but many people for owing him less than the total dollar amount of that sheet

that he is holding up.

LUSH's Naked Shower Gel Review: Tried & Tested - Duration: 2:22.

unless you're known for their divinely scented bath products but they also

happen to be one of the most ethical retailers around they recently launched

a new product which a plastic free unbuckled naked shower gels so we're

about to head to the lush media studio right here in London to figure out how

they're made and what makes them so great for the environment so I'm holding

a naked shower gel one of Russia's newest inventions it eliminates the need

for plastic packaging which makes it so much better for the environment and you

use it just all over your body like this so Patrick how does this differ to a

normal soap well the difference is in the raw

materials it has all the different ingredients for the normal shower gels

but we are the next strange radiance which is sodium stearate which makes it

solid mix all together in the right temperature then we add the fresh

blueberry juice then all we need to do just pour it in just half of the

customers would give up to use the bottles and using the naked shower gels

we could see about 2.6 million bottles 2.6 2.6 Minamoto see exactly why not get

rid of all of the plastic bottles and mush and just go fully naked well it's a

brand new product we never tried this before we want to give a choice to the

customers and maybe in the future hopefully we can go full naked and there

we have it our own muscle naked shower gel

so I just finished showering with Russia's plastic free shower gel that we

made in the kitchen and I've been using it every day for a week I feel like I've

got another he weeks left of this card a month maybe it does get a little bit

going key on the bottom like a bar so for it I keep it can have a larger

product if not it would just for me it's definitely buy buy plastic and hello

plastic free if you don't miss that liquidy squeezy feeling you get with a

plastic shower gel and definitely up one of these they're a little bit slippery

but they do last for ages and you'll be doing your bit for my bath

Scientists Discover Another Planet Earth - Duration: 2:48.

Scientists have discovered a second planet earth that's only 11 light years away.

That means that there could be an alien civilization living on it, and one day we could possibly

hug them.

I'm going to tell you all about it, here for you on IO.

What is good space potatoes, my favourite kind of potatoes.

I'm Charlotte and This is IO, where we talk about the coolest news stories on the internet.

If that sounds like something you're into, and you don't mind being called a potato,

hit that subscribe button.

Introducing Ross 128b, a planet that bares striking similarities to planet earth.

It orbits a star called Ross 128.

Scientists have just started to discover inhabitable planets in the last few years.

The reason why its difficult to find exoplanets is because they are so small, and so washed

out by their parent star, that we simply cant see them with conventional telescopes.

Seeing as stars give off light, and planets don't, the glare from the star makes planets

pretty much invisible.

But we can detect them by using a method called radial velocity.

Basically what astronomers do is they look for tiny wobble in the star that's caused

by the gravitational pull of an orbiting planet.

A wobble can tell a lot about a planet that's orbiting it.

So what do we know about Ross 128 b.

Its about 1.35 times the size of earth, and its way closer to its star than we are to

the sun.

But the thing that makes this planet special is that its actually orbiting a dwarf star,

that's much cooler than our sun, which means that it can orbit closer to its star and still

have the right conditions to support life.

Orbiting a cooler star, inevitably means that Ross 128b is a lot chillier than earth.

It's average surface temperature is around 23 degrees celcius, or 73 degrees farenheit.

So maybe the aliens that are on this planet are really furry.

Or maybe they wear parkas.

Either way, I would like to hug them.

This isn't the first time that astronomers have discovered an earth like planet.

Last summer, researchers found a planet just 4.2 light years away.

But it orbits a red dwarf that sends out flares, basically making it hard for any life to exist

there.

Ross 128b is a lot more habitable.

At this time there is only one planet that we know of that harbours life, our own but

now that we know where to look, perhaps that will change.

But Do you Want me too

The darkness makes me want you

Do you feel that too

The darkness makes me want you

You and I

I never wanna change

Believe me when I say

It'll be alright

we're gonna run away

So what if we just say

You and I

I never wanna change

Believe me when I say

It'll be alright

we're gonna run away

So what if we just say

what are you waiting for

All I know is I want more

all walls around my head

You could make me forget

But Do you Want me too

The darkness makes me want you

Do you feel that too

The darkness makes me want you

You and I

I never wanna change

Believe me when I say

It'll be alright

we're gonna run away

So what if we just say

You and I

I never wanna change

Believe me when I say

It'll be alright

we're gonna run away

So what if we just say

all I see are your eyes

When the sky sees the light

tell me that you want me too

What if we break the rules

But Do you Want me too

The darkness makes me want you

Do you feel that too

The darkness makes me want you

Painting Shadows in Watercolour - Duration: 5:25.

hey guys

so now that my personal project is over, um

i'm at a lost as to what to do now

i get kind of super focused on one thing at a time

because i really like finishing stuff.

so last week, as you saw on the vlog, i didn't have a whole lot of creative work to do

in fact i was sort of driving myself crazy.

I made that lantern because i wanted to go out and

do something nice for once.

and that's the extent of what i did, other than some sketchbooky stuff that's fun too

and this is one of the things i did.

i didn't know what to do, because

i'm no longer working in the theme that i'd been working on all summer

which was Living Spaces.

so i ended up going to the library.

they had a very very tiny art book section, like, VERY tiny.

i was looking at some watercolour related things.

this little "painting" section that was probably one shelf of books

that was something like 3 feet wide? It's... sad.

i saw some classical artwork which was really beautiful.

and i saw some more contemporary stuff. I think Loish's book was in that stack.

which really surprised me.

I opened up a book, i cant remember which book it was

but it was one about, um

painting in watercolour

it was somewhat instructional

and the watercolour paintings in this book were very realistic

i guess they were really 'busy"

she took the most complicated scenes

like scenes in a garden with lots and lots and lots of detail.

but i was really taken by her paintings of shadows.

and by that i mean she would paint images of a garden

that was brightly lit but

but the light was coming from behind a tree

so the tree was casting all these pretty little lights and shadows

you know what i'm talking about right?

dappled sunlight

it was painted with so much detail

that the dappled sunlight itself

became almost, like, the focus in the painting and

i've never really painted anything like that.

in fact, it wasn't until i did some of these

paintings for Living Spaces that I

often never really painted scenes at all.

especially not in realistic detail.

so I pretty inspired. i wanted to go home and paint pretty pictures of lights and shadows.

unfortunately we're in the middle of rain and windstorm season

so there's no shadows to be found anywhere

I couldnt' take my own reference photos and

i'm kind of disappointed in myself that I never

took reference photos like that before.

well now I know what to do when we get sunny weather again!

so this painting is a very cropped detail from a photo that I took of some cacti in snow

because i really liked the deep blue of the shadows in that picture. i think it's my favourite part of that picture.

and i learned pretty quickly that, um,

when you paint shadows without zooming out and getting context

for those shadows

they don't really look like a whole lot.

if you look at this drawing really quickly it's kind of hard to make out

what the heck i drew, so

i'll have to practice with this a bit more.

and maybe the shadows

work best with a "full scene" context?

maybe the shadows will naturally take center stage in the paintings

like they did in that book that Isaw in the library!

so keep looking at other people's art because you never know what kinds of

unusual or even mundane things that might inspire you

so thank you for watching this video and i will see you next time!

It's Happening! 194 Liberals Are Heading To Prison At Once – All Face A DECADE Behind Bars. - Duration: 5:20.

It's Happening!

194 Liberals Are Heading To Prison At Once – All Face A DECADE Behind Bars.

The election of Donald Trump as President of the United States has brought out some

of the most unspeakable, and uncivilized behavior that leftists have displayed in years.

A year later and America still witnesses the occasional meltdown, and protest filled with

triggered "not muh president" blabberings that often lead to violence and screaming

at the sky.

The people responsible for the violence, destruction, and chaos that ensued from the protests will

soon learn their fate as 194 liberals could perform their final march in a sea of orange

jumpsuits, and face decades in prison.

Can't protest much in the shower when the soap falls in front of them and they know

what happens next.

Trump's inauguration sparked the chaotic scene where protesters caused numerous police

officers to be hospitalized, people were violent, and there was at least $100,000 worth of damages

done.

Protesting is legal, but violence and destruction during protests are not, hence the arrests

were made as a direct result of people breaking the law.

There's peaceful protest, then there are protests attacking people and only one of

the two is legal.

According to police, protesters—some of whom were armed with hammers and trash cans—smashed

Starbucks and Bank of America windows, torched a parked limo, set (purchased) "Make America

Great Again" souvenirs aflame, and sprayed "Revolution or Death" on walls of local

buildings.

Police in riot gear responded by surrounding the march and unleashing rubber bullets, water

cannons, flash grenades, and pepper spray.

Seeing that protesters smashed and destroyed Starbucks, liberally oriented business, leads

me to believe one of two things,

1) Protesters are inherently uneducated and oblivious to their surroundings, too blind

to realize they destroyed a business ran by leftists who probably hires leftists as well.

Nothing like ruining someone's weekend by destroying the place where they work and earn

a living.

Just because protesters don't want to work, that doesn't make it right for them to destroy

other people's jobs,

2) The fact they destroyed Starbucks could also mean they were paid to protest.

Paid protesters will hit cruise control on their "destroy everything" speed and they

don't care about what breaks, what burns, or anything for that matter.

They're there to do a job and they certainly succeeded on the day of Trump's inauguration.

I didn't care that protesters smashed Bank of America, though.

Not one bit.

Why didn't one of them go inside and hack all the records to erase all credit cards

owned by BofA?

That would've put the hero status on a lot of people and I'd be there handing out capes.

But no, the protesters merely destroyed just to destroy.

There was no true purpose other than to cause unrest that led to 194 people facing convictions.

"Now 194 people arrested at the protests face up to decades in prison in what legal

observers have dubbed an unprecedented assault on protest.

After all, the US Attorney for the District of Columbia has slapped almost all of the

defendants with felony charges of incitement to riot and destruction of property, among

other charges.

The first trial—of six individuals, including a journalist—was set to begin with jury

selection Wednesday in DC Superior Court.

It's to be followed by a series of others, since the court could not hear all the cases

at once.

If any legal observers see this as an assault on the legal right to protest, then they should

revisit the video evidence of said protesters destroying property, lighting fires, fighting

with people, and doing very bad non-protest actions.

There's a difference between protesting and making noise vs. lighting things on fire

and destroying a coffee shop that sells overpriced bean water.

To see the District of Columbia provide many of the 194 defendants with felony charges

is a step in the right direction that, could help prevent future protests from erupting

into a massive scene of uneventful chaos.

This is where the law should make a stand against the protesting group that thinks violence

is included in protests.

Violence is not part of protesting and should not be categorized as a protest, because then

it opens the doors for future protesters to use violence on people, animals, and places

while saying its "for muh protest.

Now is the time for a judge, or judges, to remind 194 people that destroying Starbucks,

a bank, and causing harm to police officers is still against the law.

One cannot injure or destroy in the name of protest and get away with it.

194 people could be in jail doing the time for their crime.

I don't want the protesters to spend their life in jail, but a few years for burning

down a business or hurting people could be a fair sentence.

It's all based on what each individual crime the people committed.

They're not all responsible for the same exact violation, so the court system should

be fair when handing out sentences.

The worst crimes should get the most times.

Hopefully, some of the violators are only in prison for a little bit.

Why?

Because Trump will still be President when they're released from jail and nothing could

be more magical than that.

What do you think about this?

Rival - Light In The Dark (ft. Sina Py & Ryan Oakes) (Lyric / Lyrics Video) - Duration: 3:42.

📝 Rival - Light In The Dark (ft. Sina Py & Ryan Oakes) Lyrics

Deep inside, there is this feeling growing I feel the worst, tears running down my face

Make it stop, the world is driving me crazy I need a light in the dark

I can't take voices stuck in my head Screaming loud, telling a thousand lies

Others shine bright, it seems like they know the light

It seems like they know the light

I take the chance, dancing this one last dance I meet you where, all of our dreams come true

I want to shine bright, I'm ready to cross the line

Show me the light in the dark

Now I really know, what I need I fight with heart and soul, it's so bittersweet

I need someone who fights for real love, real love , real love, real love

Came a long way had to follow my heart It caused a lot of pain to me right from start

See everybody knows that life is gonna rip you apart

And when It does I promise you I'll be the light in the dark

It's never too late to try, or late to decide To spread out your wings, just jump and then

fly You living deprived of natural highs

Like feeling true love and feeling alive Just take my hand, let me guide you

I'm showing you things every day life can provide you

Just give it one shot baby you can come and slide thru

It isn't a secret you can tell the way I eye you

That I like you, I'm here to free your mind from the trap

That emptiness you feel inside I'm here to bridge off the gap

Just buckle up and find yourself a grip on the strap

Cause baby we ain't ever gonna look back Oakes
