Know Your Propaganda Celebrities How the Media Uses Image and Popularity to Manipulate
Your Opinions
Whenever a person or group has a point they wish to prove, there are a number of methods
they may use to do so.
They may choose either to prove their point honorably and with integrity, convince their
audience that their stance is more preferable than any alternative, or they may choose to
persuade and manipulate their audience by any means necessary.
Typically, if a point or position holds little or no value in the eyes of the audience, it
is seen fit by propagandists to manipulate their audience.
One of the ways propagandists might do this is by using the image of popular personalities
in order to make their message seem more appealing.
This use of celebrities as pretty faces to sell bad or questionable policies, products,
or ideas is as well-known fallacy, and is simply referred to as celebrities.
Here is a more extensive definition.
Celebrities
Description: Accepting a claim of a celebrity based on his or her celebrity status, not
on the strength of the argument.
Logical Form:Celebrity 1 says to use product Y.
Therefore, we should use product Y.
Example #1:Tom Cruise says on TV that Billy Boy Butter is the best tasting butter there
is.
Tom Cruise is awesome -- especially in MI4 when he scaled that building with only one
suction glove; therefore, Billy Boy Butter is the best tasting butter there is!
Explanation: Tom Cruise might be awesome, and perhaps he really does think Billy Boy
Butter is the best tasting butter there is, but Tom is no more an authority on the taste
of butter than anyone else; therefore, to accept the claim without any other evidence
or reason is fallacious.
Example #2:Mike Seaver from that 80s sitcom, Growing Pains, is really cool.
He is now a born-again Christian and apologist for the faith.
Therefore, you should really believe what he has to say!
Explanation: Mike Seaver is awesome, but Kirk Cameron, the actor that plays that character?
Even if Kirk was super duper (which he might be, I dont know him), his views on the
truth of religion are equally valid as yours, or anyone else's who determines what he or
she considers to be the truth through faith.
Exception: Some celebrity endorsements are authentic, where the celebrities are motivated
by the love of the product itself, not the huge check they are getting for pretending
to like the product.
When these products are directly related to their celebrity status, then this could be
seen as a valid (but not sufficient) reason for wanting the product.
Honestly, I really cant think of any examples, but there must be some out there.
Tip: If you are in business and looking for a celebrity to endorse your product, try not
to pick one that is likely to be accused of killing his wife and his wifes lover, then
taking off in a white Bronco.
To restate, the use of the celebrity fallacy involves using a popular face in place of
reason to convince an audience to agree with a certain point or position.
This fallacy typically includes an undertone of the bandwagon fallacy which elicits approval
based on the popularity of an idea alone.
Let's consider some examples of the celebrity fallacy.
Think back to late 2016.
This is a time most of us might want to forget completely, but there were several blatant
instances of celebrity propaganda that we may have seen during this time.
One of these instances consisted of movie characters from the Avenger's series promoting
an early anti-Trump message for election season.
The Avengers Just United Against Trump In Hilarious Video
16 Celebrities Who Will Leave the U.S. if Trump Wins
Obamacare to be Launched with a Star-Studded Celebrity Propaganda Campaign
Kim Kardashian Gets a Selfie With Hillary Clinton
Kim Kardashian Clarifies: Im Voting for Hillary Clinton Not Donald Trump
This fallacy was very strange to see, considering that there was no attempt to hide the fact
that propagandistic manipulation was taking place.
This is not to take political sides or to promote any false political duality, but to
reveal the fact that certain financial interests, instead of using the strength of their argument
to speak for themselves, they use the face of fictitious comic book characters.
As we may remember, the failure of these particular financial endeavors was just as visible as
their attempt.
We might keep in mind that just because a celebrity is speaking does not always mean
that the celebrity fallacy is being used.
It is only when we see big budget productions such as commercials or large political productions
that include celebrity speeches that we can be fairly certain the tactic is fallacious.
The Obvious Modern Propaganda
The positive side about modern propaganda is that it is easy to spot.
In past decades, propagandists were subtle and tactful in their use of their tactics.
There was an art to propaganda of the pasta certain knowledge shown within each underlying
message (though still devious and dishonest).
Not so with today's propaganda.
In modern times, propaganda is so blatant and obvious that it no longer has the effect
it once did.
In modern propaganda, there seems to be no tact, no subtlety, and no real knowledge of
progressive human psychology at all.
Time after time, we see propaganda used from decades past with no layering, no believability
and no knowledge that the audience receiving this propaganda have changed completely.
We are no longer asleep and are no longer gullible enough to succumb to such manipulation
(though there are exceptions within society).
We are no longer sitting idle and allowing wealthy, self-interested manipulators to call
the shots in our world.
We have no reason to.
It is easy to see the celebrity propaganda used in modern times.
We have seen this fallacy used the entire year of 2017, and each time it appears, it
seems to be promoting the same financial interests.
Again, this is not to take sides or to promote any political party, but simply to acknowledge
the interests who most often use celebrity propaganda to make extremely weak points.
The method of most celebrity propaganda is simple.
First, wealthy elitists pay and persuade (or possibly brainwash) celebrities to put on
some type of public spectacle (usually outrageous) to get attention.
At the same time, the elitists use their control over corporate media to make the outrageous
act as visible as possible.
These elitists then set up some type of photo op, public forum, or television appearance
for the celebrity to deliver the intended message to the public.
To add, in modern times, it seems often that the political messages of celebrities completely
contradict their behavior in their personal lives.
Miley Cyrus
The above is the exact formula used to promote Hillary Clinton using Miley Cyrus as a spokesperson.
The political message of Cyrus just seems out of place and seems to clash with virtually
everything that Cyrus has done in the past few years.
Sadly, it appears that Cyrus has done everything she can to embarrass herself or to rub society
the wrong way.
Yet now, the people are expected to look up to her as a political spokesperson?
This is not to judge Ms. Cyrus at all, but simply to make the point that propagandists
seem to have stopped thinking about the details of their intended messages.
It is as though they have become so consumed in proving some point or pushing their agenda
that there is little left of the believability their messages once had.
It seems that to a great extent, these propagandists have lost their touch.
We review this example of propaganda due to its combining of two different fallacies.
These are the fallacies of celebrities and of appealing to emotion.
The emotional appeal is discussed in another article, but for now, let's keep an important
point in mind.
That is, whenever we see the face of a celebrity and they are attempting to push a political
or corporate message of some kind, it is important to assess the value of the message itself
and to ignore the voice speaking it.
In this way, we can overcome the temptation to cave to manipulative tactics.
Trivializing Pedogate
As things stand, there could be no better example of celebrity propaganda than we currently
see in media at present.
The subject of Pizzagate/Pedogate has been one of major public attention, despite the
efforts of the corporate media, large platforms of social media, and various entertainment
personalities from attempting to dissuade the public from learning about it.
Platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Redditt have done virtually everything in their power
to prevent their users from learning the truth of John Podesta's emails, the dark dealings
of the Clinton Foundation in Haiti, and of the regularity of sexual slavery behind the
glamor of Hollywood.
As it turns out, the media seems to have found a new way to deter the public from learning
the truth of child trafficking and slavery around the world.
In these antics, the corporate media actually uses a combination of fallacies to promote
their propaganda.
Consider all of the celebrities who have made questionable claims of being victims of sexual
assault.
Now compare the media spectacles we've recently witnessed to the actual number of celebrities
who report pursuing legal action against those they claim assaulted them.
Now let's consider the fact that for the most part, it is only other actors who have been
named as supposed sex offenders in Hollywood.
Related links - Vegas Terror and Disclosure: Is Something Very Big About to Happen?
- Divine Cosmos - Links and Commentary
There are no true elitists being outed besides Anthony Weinstein.
This strongly suggests that we are not actually witnessing change of any kind with regard
to ending child trafficking and elitist pedophilia in America.
It seems that all we are seeing is another star-studded performance by Hollywood entertainment
to distract from the real issue.
It seems more likely that these actors are simply putting on another performance as they
have been payed so much to do since their carriers began.
(However, this is not to say that there are not real and actual victims behind many of
these claims.)
In this way, the corporate media has created a straw man out of the true problem of elitist
pedophilia.
Simply put, they have chosen to throw several celebrities under the bus for what seems to
be an attempts at saving those who are truly responsible for child trafficking and elitist
pedophilia.
The true issues implicate government leaders and heavy-hitting financial establishments.
Even though Hollywood is portrayed as the elitist class, these actors are little more
than servants of those who have payed their way to stardom.
In truth, under the current status quo, actors and singers have no real power in the world.
Yet because these are the faces the public knows more than those who have actual power,
these actors are commonly thrown under the bus so that true elitists can escape the public
eye.
Famous Faces
In modern days, the faces of celebrities are used to promote whatever political agenda
is on the roster.
However, it seems clear that the governing body we currently have in the United States
is disunified in its efforts.
The agenda of the president and his allies seems to be different than that of the media.
However, this is another discussion altogether.
It is important for each of us to realize what message is being sold to us via artificial,
manufactured approval via celebrities.
This is one of the more obvious methods of propaganda.
However, it can still be effective against those who have not done their due diligence
of learning the distinction between fallacy and reliable communication.

El juego del go: Filosofía sobre un tablero. Desarrollo del juego, 3 de 3 - Duration: 35:11.
The course of a game can be divided into three phases:
1st) The fuseki or start.
2nd) or medium game Chuban
3rd) Yose starting or end.
The fuseki is possibly the most difficult stage.
The beginner is the dilemma choosing an intersection to place
his stone when there are so many free. At this stage of the game must be
into account that the territory can be built more easily into corners.
Compare the number of stones that make needed to get 16 points of territory:
16 stones in the center. On one side: 12 stones.
In one corner 8 stones. Therefore, in the fuseki usually start
playing in the empty corners, and then on the sides of the board. The center is
always important, strategically, as in many other games, including football;
but it is more expensive to make territory, as more stones are needed.
Two examples of fuseki: 1) parallel Fuseki: where every player has
chosen to use one side of the board for arrange their forces.
2) Fuseki diagonal or Tasuki: Placement Cross stones evokes the form of a
tasuki, the cord with the samurai hold kimono sleeves.
Starting the beginning determines the development back in the game. Placing the
stones at this stage is like the formation of the skeleton of a child.
If done right, then the body will have a good structure to lean on.
Where? Very bad, no one matches? ...
Here? This I will tell you how it is not mosquito but his name, dragonfly,
They are called dragonfly, dragonfly small, bad example, this is great dragonfly, worst example
it ?, small dragonfly, enters and lives in ko does not make sense, it ?,
then we know, no ?, we know, here !, why ?, not going to go, why not ?, here comes and lives,
Why not here? enters and lives, have not done any point, this makes points
with much possibility of points ...
- Half game: chuban
The stones are filling the board and enter in contact with each other. It is like
the combat. This phase of the game has some resemblance
with chess. It is very important to know the technique of the game, know when a group
live or die, and learn to calculate different variants or combinations of plays.
- Endgame: yose
The territories are closing, and necessary
whet an estimate as accurate possible points that have or can get
to have each player.
Twelve, it ?, what points would, see, I ask,
this move I just made, how many points I have, more than 20 points,
I mean, the change would be far, this live, no ?, it lives and, well, then
black would play here or not ?, white here, black here, here white and black, it ?,
Who's next? white, fine, then, the yose for you to consider, consider the following,
If you play one you do not answer, because If you answer you're losing, you understand me?
so this is right ... next play right of black, if responding well, he has lost everything,
all ... then how will follow, here in the future, here,
it ?, you have seen the difference? ?, and how many points there are more than 20 ...
CAPTURE TECHNIQUES
- Escalera or shicho: better to lose only
a stone, and not increase the loss by adding more stones, because there is no escape.
Interleaved stones in the path of the ladder can change the outcome.
Consider this example ...
At the end: a heart! We see another case with the term JAL.
Capture ladder or Sicho in Japanese, It is one of the first things you learn on the go.
Here we have a situation atari for this white stone, you can escape
this white stone? Let's check it out. Black chases, escapes white, black, ah! you are right,
I managed to escape, because I make a mistake, let us repeat,
black, white, black, white, ...
I do not think ..., continue to the end,
indeed, she had no escape.
There is an old proverb that says
If you're not able to understand the stairs it is better not to go dedicate.
- Capture network (geta)
The stones have been trapped
Sacrificing stones (snap back) Hand over a stone, otherwise nothing is accomplished.
In some cases it is better not capture, as
It would be tantamount to swallow the bait and entrap.
LIFE AND DEATH OF STONES
Groups with two eyes are alive.
When a group of stones is alive means that It is invulnerable, an impregnable fortress.
This occurs as a logical consequence rules of capture. A group of stones
with only one eye can be captured because that eye can become the ultimate freedom
of the group. When the whole group is surrounded, enter the eye would not be suicide because
the whole group would be captured. Instead, with two eyes never comes into existence last
freedom, for at least two points those who can not enter: What are the two eyes
Enter either be suicide because the group is not captured, and
we still have freedom: the other eye. And also you can put two stones at a time.
Oh look! a stone in atari, indeed, would have to defend,
Now it's my turn, go, white He has totally dead,
what they should have done white? let's them ... Sure, it's
this is a false eye, there is only one eye for white, in fact, that white
He could have had two eyes, the position It should have been this.
If the adversary could enter one of both eyes, capturing stones, then
the eye is a fake eye. Although it is not the same group with two eyes
a group with an eye two intersections. A group with two intersections dies.
Three intersections can live if plays on the vital point.
With four or more intersections online He lives unconditionally.
Five free intersections may be insufficient to live.
And even six for the formation called rabbit, or even the vase.
During the game it may become necessary two eyes form a group to live,
or it may be sufficient simply to have the possibility of training them without
no stone add more.
This black group still has not made the
two eyes, but you can make when you need it, if white falls within the black territory
black plays and has two eyes, one and two. In Here is a mistake for black form
both eyes, because he loses a point of land, simply, just leave it,
It is alive and are four points of territory.
If a territory is very large, it should be
Also assess whether an invasion is possible the adversary. The invasion succeeds
If the invading group live in the invaded territory.
Never forget that while the stones continue on the board, continue to exert influence
and they have utility in the same manner as in nature nothing is wasted, and
everything is used or recycled.
CONNECTING YOUR STONES:
A proverb says that if you go have six groups on the board, at least one die.
This means it is best to join stones unturned.
Japanese terms used for They are most widespread in the West have.
Of course, the best way to understand He is practicing.
- Nobi: direct connection from a stone. In Overall it's a solid but slow play,
as we can see in the chart, where black cover less territory playing nobi.
But sometimes it is the best move; for example, to save a stone in atari; or to penetrate
in the territory of the opponent.
- Kosumi: athwart. No connection
direct, but can there be when needed.
- Bamboo Knot: a secure connection.
So there is a proverb that says: "Do not try breaking a lump of bamboo. "
- Watari: move is done in the first or second line connecting two groups.
- Tsugi: Connecting stones avoiding cuts. Contact with the stones of the adversary:
- Tsuke: Contact advances. A headstone itself in direct contact with another adversary.
- Kiri: Cut.
- Hane: move diagonally own stone
that comes into contact with an enemy stone.
- Boshi: "hat". Advances made a line
in front of an enemy stone, preventing It escapes or expansion towards the center of the board
Saltos:
. Iken-Tobi: jump line. . Niken-tobi: jump two lines.
. Keima: move similar to horse jumping chess.
. Ogeima: same as keima, but a long line.
. Monkey jump: In the endgame, Monkey jumping is one of the techniques
most important to reduce the territory the adversary.
SPECIAL SITUATIONS
The development of the game on the board produced
special situations. Here are some:
- Seki: Coexistence. Both players live.
Special case. In the corner: this training seki is not because the starting end, after
to eliminate all ko threats, could form a winning ko.
We see here the case of a double ko seki.
Here we see the so-called "thousand-year ko":
It is so called because, in principle,
neither player wants to play there.
- Triple ko: It is an exceptional case Tables can remember, because if
both players want it, come to a endless repetition of moves.
FORM AND STYLE
Good style is related to the effectiveness,
ie achieving certain goals with the least number of plays.
simply by observing the position of the stones on the board, and seeing their distribution
You can deduct the level of the players. A game between professionals always show
a distribution provided with forms beautiful and efficient.
There are ways of over-concentration of stones that are inefficient.
The best move, the correct play than ever It is sought which would fulfill the
After several objectives:
- Expand the territory.
- Reduce the territory of the opponent. - Ensure the stones themselves.
- Endangering the stones of the opponent. - and gain influence.
Strategic Concepts
Influence and territory
During the game should be produced a balance between the two aspects, as
concerned only one of them is harmful.
The stones do not serve only to build territory. They are instruments of force elements
power, and from that force can consolidate the territories at the right time.
At the beginning of the game it is not recommended
try to make sure territories, as the stones must respond in the most
satisfactory to constant fluctuations of the game. It is imperative to understand how
the game is evolving and where we must address the potential of our stones.
The fourth line is called the line of influence.
The third line of the territory. And second, the line of defeat because
it is achieved very little influence and very little territory.
Sabaki: It involves a rapid and agile development stones, serving a global goal
and long term. No emphasis is on saving stones individually.
Aji: Literally, "taste". One or more stones, which, although already lost, continue
It is a source of concern for the adversary, or a latent threat.
It is said that a position "has bad aji" when there are latent threats that the adversary
You can take advantage when the appropriate conditions are met.
Miai: Two points of equal value. If a player occupies one of them, the opponent will play in the other.
Furikawari: To exchange one group by another,
influence territory, etc.
Yosumiru: move by test performed
to see how it responds the adversary. It forces you to define and remove options to your
position, while maintaining their own.
JAPANESE TERMS
As an example, let's explain some terms the go in Japanese.
- Joseki. It is a series of plays studied relative to a corner generally
during opening or fuseki, involving a territorial division or exchange of
influence satisfactory for both players.
-St-san: the 3-3 point in any of the
four corners. It is a safe spot to live and make territory, but does not exert much influence
the rest of the board.
- Komoku: point 3-4. Takamoku: point 5-4.
- Hoshi (Star): the point 4-4. It's in
the 4th line, the call line influence. These points lead to many possible combinations.
- Kikashi: play that forces the opponent to answer.
- Hamete: move with trick or trap. Whether responds well, causing great losses to whom
makes, but if you guess wrong, earnings usually too large.
- Hasami: Pincer Attack. Two stones attacking another from two different sides.
- Moyo: broad outline territorial yet insured.
- Semeai: A fight or race between two groups wherein the amount of freedom available
each determines the result thereof. - Shibori: literally wring or squeeze.
Pressure is making some sacrifice keep the Sente, while the territory is reduced
adversary, or external influences is obtained.
- Sente: move if it is not answered causes
heavy losses. It means taking the initiative and choose where to play, setting the direction
the game that the opponent must follow.
- Gote: advances which need not be answered.
It means losing the initiative.
- Tenuki: Play elsewhere on the board,
without answering the last play of the opponent. Entails gain the initiative or sente.
- Tesuji: tactical move of great skill It solved a difficult situation.

BARCELONA! | Crazy Vintage Sidecar Tour - Duration: 4:26.
Okay guys today I'm in Barcelona. I've teamed up with BrightSide Tours
We're gonna be the motorcycle with a sidecar, and we're gonna be showing you Barcelona in style
Alright just got here with this beautiful motorbike
We can tailor the tour
Now we are here, Plaza Catalonia (which is the heart of the city)
Feels comfortable
So does the audio come through the helmet? Exactly. Nice!
Got my helmet on, now I'm going to get in this sidecar...
Tucked in ready to go!
Vamos!
I noticed on the map that there's old Barcelona
And then it suddenly becomes a grid structure?
Exactly. The grid system was designed by a local engineer
Wide avenues, good ventilation
His idea was to create the perfect city for everyone
So far so good this tour is amazing
The Sagrada Família!
All the information comes in through the earpieces
So when we stop I'll chat to you guys, but until then.... Continue!
So now we're heading up this hill to these military bunkers
We've taken the bike to the very top of the hill with an incredible view of a Barcelona, which I'll show you in a second
All right, so we've made it to the tip-top
I'm gonna show you the view... Sagrada Família
The gherkin looking building
The long beach
How often do you do the tours? Almost daily
Is the weather always this nice?
No, I wish
(Just say yes!)
...although we can not complain about the weather here in Barcelona
I'm Canadian, so it's probably the best winter!
So we just had an incredible view of Barcelona from 226 meters high!
I flew my drone
There were some security people that came up to me
I was worried they were going to tell me off but they were actually very curious!
They were like 'Oooh a drone!'
When you leave the bike for bit, do you ever get bike enthusiasts checking it out?
Russians go crazy! This motorbike seems to be like the national pride there
They're like 'Oohh Russia! Russia!
They speak to you in Russian... I speak no Russian
The tour continues... Where we heading to next? Now we are heading to Montjuic Hill
And now Alondra is going to go in the sidecar...
Is it comfy?
Very comfortable
Got a nice little blanket if you get cold
When you're on the bike nice little handle to grab onto
Front seat, you've got a nice little cover. Does your company have like five or six cars?
So if there's a group of you, you can all get one each
So the last view point we were at was way over here! We drove right down in there, all around
and now we've got another viewpoint
So Barcelona was always a harbour town. The city economically bloomed because of activity in the harbour.
Catalonia controlled the trade
That's why you can see all these beautiful Gothic buildings in the old town. Money in the 14th century was pouring into the city!
And which part go Barcelona is your favourite? Depends for what.
Make a silly face...
All right now we're heading east of the city, down towards the waterfront!
Are we the best people you've given the tour to? Of course
It's a pleasure!
So that brings us the end of an incredible bike tour
It's wheely time!
Adios!
Hasta Luego!
And off he drives into the sunset...
...or an alleyway
What was your favorite part? My favourite part was riding on the bike.
That was the only part!
What was your favorite part of riding on the bike? (which is what this whole video has been)
The lovely tour guide that we had, made the entire experience really enjoyable.
I would definitely do it again!
It's great to do the tour in a bike because Barcelona (and any city)
they have all these different districts
Now I really feel like I know what Barcelona feels like
The company was called 'BrightSide Tours'
Got their link in the description, so check that out
Until next time...

The Story of My Life by Sri. Vethathiri Maharishi CHAPTER 16 problems - Duration: 13:53.
CHAPTER - 16 PROBLEMS
I had persevered in my attempts to improve my lot, basing my efforts on uprightness of
conduct, diligence and a great regard for enlightened men.
Yet I failed to achieve an adequate sense of fulfilment.
By the time I had solved one problem, another loomed large.
The whole lot of human being is like that.
Man or Woman, an intellectual or a dunce, rich or poor, strong or weak, young or old,
learned or illiterate, householder or ascetic, whoever it may be-to be born is to get entangled
in problems.
The first reason for this seems to be the background, the society one lives in.
This community-pattern is a factor so powerful that the individual caught in it cannot escape.
Man suffers in proportion to the sense of responsibility that crushes him down by its
weight.
How could I, for one, prove exempt from such a law?
I wished to jump the hurdles, to achieve advancement and find peace and happiness in life.
The community back ground kept pulling me down, whenever I tried to climb.
Yet I never lost hope.
The determination was there, firm, deep down in my mind, that I shall make good
inspite of the odds.
Success is certain if we keep up the struggle without swerving from the path of righteousness.
Everything has its proper time.
That is the law.
Without being impatient for immeditate results, we should forge ahead till we attain our goal.
Perseverance, industry and calm reflection-these are the guide posts along the route.
Financially, my progress was steady now.
But realisation of the nature of God and the purpose of life still eluded me.
Concentration of the mind led me towards the light.
My master Dr. S. Krishna Rao, had taught me the principle behind the five Elements.
I was able to comprehend this truth more and more clearly as the days passed.
I woke up one night.
It would have been about three.
I was plunged in thought.
I seemed to have grasped the truth at last.
"There are six states of being, combining primordial Divinity along with the five Elements
that compose the Universe.
What else could be there when you pass beyond these Elements, except just pure space.
That immense expanse should have been spoken of as God.
The Hymn of Saint Thayumanavar* seems to corroborate this conviction.
He speaks of a Radiance that is not merely here or there, but everywhere, yes, EVERYWHERE-even
beyond the limits, where normal human imagination could
not project itself!
"Yet, which one of these six states of being does life belong to?
Life is not static.
It is dynamic.
So life should be Akash, the ultimate fifth among the five Elements".
This was the answer that dawned on me.
With this conception as a base in my innermost consciousness, I started my experiments further
in philosophy.
Wonder of wonders!
The whole world, in my eyes, now looked gradually transformed, different from what it had ever
been before.
From morning to night, I used to ponder (whatever be the occupation was engaged in at the time)
over the nature of God, of human life and how these are related to each other.
Each scene, each act, each human being I witnessed, seemed to convey to me a sermon on the great
Ultimate Reality.
The mind was full, elated and at peace.
But at the same time I was aware that this understanding of mine was at variance with
most of the teachings in mythology and in the rituals and ceremonies.
I should therefore discover the reality behind these apparent contradications.
For some years, I was happily engrossed in the contemplation of the Five Elements and
the Absolute Truth behind them.
This in no way interfered with my day to day work.
I kept myself busy from four in the morning till ten at night.
I was now thirty two.
At this stage I had to face a problem that touched the very core of my being.
Although married for years now, we had no children.
Someone had hurt my wife's feelings by telling her that she was barren.
They had also made the suggestion to her that the only way out, was for her husband to take
a second wife.
When she unburdened her grief to me, I tried to comfort her "Do not worry about what people
say.
You know our motto in life-not to hurt or injure others and to aid and assist others
to the best of our ability.
If we dont't have children, Nature is to be blamed, not we.
If people use that as a stick to beat us with we should turn a deaf ear to their talk".
I spoke to her on these lines often.
But I could not heal the wound.
She lost all peace of mind.
I could do nothing to restore that peace.
She began to speak to me about this, day after day, to the exclusion of every other topic.
She insisted on my
marrying again.
I tried to cosole her in every way possible.
But she continued to be restless.
It looked as if our relatives and our community had deliberately planned to disorganise our
lives.
We felt like sparrows whose nest had been pulled apart.
The greater my progress in the pursuit of the Ultimate Truth, the more intense became
the complications in which my life got entangled.
My wife never ceased dinning into my ears that I should marry again.
This pressure mounted from day to day, I put off taking a decision as long as I could.
One day, a Tamil magazine carried in its columns a short story.
My wife read it.
She then placed the magazine in my hands, and asked me to go through it.
I was moved to tears when I read it.
This, in brief, is the story: "A man and his wife, devoted to each other, were leading
a happy life.
They had no children.
Relatives and friends accuse the woman for being barren.
In great pain of mind, she entreats her husband to marry again, so that she could have some
relief from this continous criticism.
The man refuses, saying that he can't bring himself to share his life with any other woman.
"Won't you marry again, if I happen to die?", she demands of him.
"Why torture yourself with all such idle fancies?
You should learn to live in perfect peace of mind", he says and goes out.
"When he returns home that night, his wife is missing.
They search for her everywhere.
Next morning her dead body is found, washed ashore, on the banks of the river".
The author's aim, in writing this story, is to portary the workings of a woman's mind.
Here is a woman, provoked beyond endurance by the slights and innuendoes hurled at her
by a heartless society.
Her husband's stubborn refusal to remarry adds fuel to that fire.
Life under such conditions, she decides, is not worth living.
The writer of the story had succeeded in holding up before the world the heartlessness and
cruelty of the society that nags at a childless woman.
"Have you finished reading?", my wife asked, She seemed to be gloating over her victory.
Her eyes said as much.
I breathed a heavy sigh.
She entered the kitchen abruptly.
"Rajam!"
I called.
We were then living at our Guduvancheri house, the one we had purchased.
She came out at once, as if she had been just waiting for this summons, her face beaming
in triumph!
I seized both her hands in mine.
The tears welled up and flowed in profusion.
"I realise, my dear, how you feel", I said, "I shall not make further excuses.
I have never wanted to look at another woman in my life.
But things have come to this pass.
I thought I shall not have to face an occasion like this.
But it is here, before me.
My fate has outwitted me.
I find myself trapped.
I agree to your proposal of a second marriage.
You attend to the needful!"
My voice faltered, as I spoke.
She too couldn't contain her grief.
She wept.
"I assure you", she said, "that if you take another woman as your wife, I shall see to
it that we three get on in perfect harmony.
There won't be a single clash between her and me at any time".
Something untoward happened within the next few days.
It was evening.
Office was over.
I was cycling on Mount Road.
The owner of a dairy owed me some money and I was on my way to collect it.
A bullock cart - a four wheeler - was coming from the opposite direction.
The handlebar of my bike wobbled.
I applied the brakes; but they didn't act.
The downward slope from the bridge did it.
I dashed, with my bike, straight against the cart.
There was an outcry from people who noticed the accident.
A crunch!
It was the cart's wheel going over my poor bike.
The momentum I had gained added to the violence of the collision.
The blow I got was from the yoke in front.
I fell right in front of the cart.
My bike had blocked the cart wheel, impeding its movement.
The cart stood still.
I lay on the ground, just four inches from it.
All this in a split second.
I passed out.
Passers by lifted me up and laid me on the portico of a shop near there.
They brought me water to drink.
It took ten minutes for me to come back to consciousness.
From the talk of the people around, I realised the full extent of the danger I had passed
through.
No part of my body remained unhurt, although all appeared to be minor injuries.
I couldn't lift my left hand.
I ran my right hand over it.
Then I discovered I had broken my left collar bone.
I tried, with my right hand, to hold together the two bits that had come apart.
I recognised in the crowd around me, a boy who had been working for me while I was in
the milk business.
I asked him to follow me, got into a rickshaw and went direct to the General Hospital.
I reported the accident to the doctor in charge of the Casualty Ward.
He asked me to be seated and left.
An hour passed; but no treatment was given.
My pain was increasing.
I got into a rickshaw again and went to a bonesetter at Chintadripet.
He at once bandaged the fractured bone, applied liniments to all the injuries and sent me
to Egmore Station, along with my servant boy.
I had by now managed to send word home by an
acquaintance I met on the way.
He had gone and reported that I had been hit by a car,
and had been admitted in the hospital for treatment of
broken bones!
The whole village, I learnt later, was in commotion, watching my mother and my wife
crying in their grief.
The report had been highly exaggerated.
It had been made out that my life hung in the balance!
One of by friends comforted my Mother and my wife,
telling them he would go to Madras and find out the truth.
He now came to Egmore Station.
As both of us had first class season tickets, we travelled in comfort
and reached Guduvancheri at ten thirty in the night.
My limbs, stiff and aching did not permit movement.
Departure of the train was delyed to enable me to alight.
Some people got into the compartment and lifted me down.
They sent for a cot, made me lie down on it and carried me to my house.
Looking at the bandages and my inability to sit up, my
wife burst out weeping again.
It was more than I could bear.
I asked her to draw nearer and explained to her that, except
for a single fractured bone, nothing else was serious and
that I would be all right in a week.
There were about twenty five people around me that
fight.
None of them had a wink of sleep.
From villages all round, relatives kept pouring in to
see me.Our house keeping bill mounted alarmingly.
The fracture showed no signs of mending at the end of that week.
So I went to an expert bonesetter at Puthoor and got it bandaged by him.
In a week it was mended.
The wounds also healed completely.
The marriage proposal was shelved for an year.
After that came World War II and evacuation.
They decided to move my Office to Coimbatore.
I took leave for six months.
The lungi business was proving highly profitable.
My brother in law and my sister left Madras and came over to live with us.
All of them had to be provided for and also provided with work.
So I started dealing in textiles.
That yielded about ten rupees a day.
What next?
I should report for duty at Coimbatore.
I should also arrange for my second marriage.

What Men Wish Women Understood About Their Emotional Needs: Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus - Duration: 9:47.
if you correct a man too much again it can make him feel like it's like a child
why don't you do this how come you didn't do that and he feels like you
know child and no man wants to feel like a child
thank you so much for tuning back in to our second act with Paige and Silke we're continuing our conversation
today on love and relationships and we're happy to welcome Richard Drobnick
back to our program Richard thanks for joining us again ...thank you so much as
you may recall from our last segment Richard Drobnick is the director of
the Mars and Venus Counseling Center in northern New Jersey and he specializes
in marriage and family counseling relationship counseling correct Richard
right yeah which is you know exactly what we want today because not only do
you speak from a man's point of view which is we were always interested in
hear what men are thinking you've also you don't just talk from theory you talk
from practice you've been married 32 years right that's a huge accomplishment
so so you you you walk the talk so to speak yeah and then we you know what we
want to focus on today is the emotional needs of men and women and how they
differ and what men wished women understood you know about them so
Richard what are the inherent emotional differences in men and women ...you know
men want to feel trust it like a can-do guy they want to feel that a woman can
count on them let's say a man has his grumbles at work and he comes home from
work instead giving a lot of unsolicited advice
nagging ..yeah okay there you go or just letting him know what he could
do what he should do how he should do it like the unsolicited advice a man feels
that is like criticism like it's a way of saying you can't really
count on me and so it'll feel like criticism and it'll deplete his energy
so one important piece of advice is that for man to feel counted on is to maybe
say something like oh that's really a difficult thing at work but I can count
on you or you got it I you can handle that that kind of theme now if a man
says well I need I need I need some advice about this of course and
then you can give it but not unsolicited that'll deplete him okay ...so that's the
big that's what that would be one big thing men wish women ooh don't stop the
unsolicited advice yeah we can call him like the home home improvement committee if you want to change your man to be a
certain way he's gonna feel well what's wrong with me the way I am well and and
you know what a big aha thing for me on our last program and also you know in
today is another point is the alone time that men really need and how that is
misinterpreted by women so what do men wish women knew about needing their
space their alone time their cave time ...what when a man goes to work let's say a
man when he goes to work it's easy for him to get focused on work to goal
oriented in his head achievement oriented and forget about his wife so a
man has to remember that on his need is to feel appreciated and a woman needs to
make sure she lets him know that but a man also has to remember to give her a
text give her a call what about what you would say that what what men wish women
knew is that if I don't send that text if I don't give that call it doesn't
that doesn't mean that I forgot about you that was a big that that hit me like
wowI needed to know that because I feel like that all the time
that's not true at all it's not true at all ... you see what I like about our
conversation Richard is not is like if you don't get the text or you don't get
the email understanding those differences going back to your point of
Education you know maybe by knowing those
differences that we're trying to get out today we don't make an issue out of it
because there's no issue there necessarily yeah it's a balancing one is
that we don't make an issue of it but if if we if we're not getting of one's not
getting her needs met enough then it becomes an issue
well that's true that's true and he can be educated and remember to do those
things because it's important to his woman
yeah to both of us the other thing that that I found again to me was new
information and I'm pushing 60 here is that men naturally that men naturally go
through a cycle of getting close pulling away and getting close again tell us
about what does that mean what what do men wish women understood about that
what a man wish women know about that is that once again the cycle is natural
okay a man can feel this need this need for closeness and connection and feel
very satisfied and close and then when he's off doing his own thing that he can
be very unfocused goal oriented and not have that need as much until he then
remembers I do need that closeness and connection and we couldn't call it a
rubber band the jargon of Mars Venus but he's out there then he'll remember he
needs that closeness and connection and then be back ...I guess Richard the you
know the point or one of the points that also spoke strongly to me is that the
man's independence that you know we shouldn't take it as a slight because
women do tend to feel emotionally isolated when that happens you know it's
not a slight at all again a good metaphor again I I started to use this to kill
this metaphor for the woolly mammoth thing but one
man's out you know at work with doing his thing he's doing it for his wife
he's doing it for his family he knows that he knows that but she doesn't know
that and if he doesn't let her know that of course she might believe that so he
can come home from work and be ridiculed and go I'm what am i doing I'm doing
this for you you know what I don't get it and then a man will not understand
being criticized or judged and a woman's not understanding why he could have
forgotten about me so once again education it's ...well based on our
conversation in your article would you agree that maybe one of the number one
things men wished women understood is just that they need to feel needed yes
they need to feel needed we say needed again appreciated
recognized recognized accepted what I'm doing is good see some good in
me not just what I didn't do today not just what I forgot to do but remind me
tell me what I did do so needed but also appreciated in all these words
yeah it's a broader maybe than just needed but it falls into that kind of
category ... limit the unsolicited advice I think we said yeah yeah and you know you
can always say something like gee honey um can I make a comment about
something or you know thought about something well you have to say well it
was for your consideration of you know blah blah blah might be some advice or
a suggestion and he's so much more willing to hear that then why don't you
do that and you didn't do that if you correct a
man too much again it can make him feel like it's like a child why don't you do
this how come you didn't do that and he feels like you know child and no man
wants to feel like a child so there's a way of saying that in a way that will
help a man be able to hear that as constructive information well like you
said it really is all about education no matter
how old we get we just we don't get it until it's you know somehow pointed out
in in these sorts of conversations and we hope that you know some of what
you've heard here today will resonate with you I will link to Richard's
articles and all the information absolutely to best educate yourself read
the book men are from Mars Women are from Venus we'll link to that as well
Richard thank you so much for joining us again and we'll see you again soon on

Should I Write a Prologue for My Novel? - Duration: 10:02.
Heya book nerds!
On this episode of iWriterly I'm here to talk to you about the great debate for novel writers,
which is, should I write a prologue?
As many of you know, book publishing professionals and readers alike have openly expressed their
dislike of prologues.
However, prologues aren't inherently evil or indicative of poor writing.
They can, and have been executed with skill, but are they necessary?
That in my opinion is the biggest question that novel writers should be asking themselves,
not should I write a prologue, but does a prologue improve or impact my story in some
way?
Alright, this is for the newbies out there.
What is a prologue?
A prologue is some type of text that comes before chapter one.
It could be expositionary prose, a poem, a news clipping; really any kind of text, but
something that is in advance of chapter 1.
If you've attended a writing workshop, you may have noticed how literary agents voice
their dislike of prologues.
Some even go as far as to say that if they see a prologue in a submission, they are immediately
wary of those pages.
So, why such an immediately negative reaction?
This is largely due to poorly executed prologues littering query boxes.
You'd be surprised how many writers hit those prologue deadly sins.
So here are some prologue don'ts:
Prologue Don't Number 1: That looked like eleven...
Number 1.
Using the prologue as a place for a massive dump, the information kind of dump.
Information dumps are one of the easiest ways to get a readers eyes to glaze over.
Paragraphs of text that provide dense, albeit important information, are tough to digest.
Without strategically weaving this information into a scene, a chapter, or the manuscript itself,
readers can be turned off to a story.
Not to mention, the opening pages are a make or break moment.
That is when you can either suck the reader in, or they can close your book and not read it.
Take a look at your opening pages of your prologue to see if you are an
information dumper.
Look for a couple paragraphs of text, and see if there's any way you can kind of trickle
that information throughout the scene or the later chapters.
Or if you're just using it as an information dump, just.. maybe just don't.
Don't prologue. Don't do it.
Prologue Don't Number 2: A boring prologue
that readers want to skip to get to chapter 1.
Obviously, writers don't start a prologue saying what is the most boring thing I can
write and put on a page?
Granted, we don't do that.
If your scene lacks action or purpose, you may be falling into this danger zone.
Look at your prologue with the critical eye of a reader, and ask yourself:
Would I skip this prologue and go right to chapter one?
If so, maybe consider if that prologue is necessary.
Consider what you can do to either spice things up a bit while keeping it relevant to the
central plot, or whatever information you're trying to convey in that prologue, or maybe
just slice and dice and kill those darlings.
Prologue Don't Number 3: No, I like this one better.
Three!
A prologue that has nothing to do with the main story, and I mean like,
not even the backstory.
Prologues need to somehow impact your main plot.
If your prologue is filled with action, offers bite-sized pieces of background information,
but has nothing to do with your main plot, and doesn't move your story along at all,
probably not necessary.
It doesn't matter if your writing is solid, if your scene isn't exhibiting that pretty
plot arc that we've talked about in previous episodes.
You need to show that emotional journey for your character while showing the stakes for
the character and the world at large.
And that character does not have to be your protagonist, obviously in a lot of prologues
we see characters in previous times, where the protagonist might not be alive yet.
Prologue Don't Number 4: Prologues that are too long.
Alright, let's cut to the chase, modern readers prefer shorter chapters,
which includes the prologue.
If your prologue is longer than your chapters, or if both your prologue and your chapters
are on the longer side, it might be time to reevaluate the length and pacing of your chapters.
Prologue Don't Number 5: Using the prologue to hook the reader as the
sole purpose.
For this example, I am thinking of prologues that throw the reader into the action, and
i mean, the middle of the action.
Maybe it's the center of a battlefield, or in the twisted sheets of a love affair.
But like I'm saying, in the middle of something happening.
Whatever it is, the reader is unceremoniously plunked into the middle of the action, and
not sure where they are, who these characters are that they don't yet know and love.
While action scenes are a super gripping way to begin a story, consider whether this is
the best place to start.
How is this action, battle, whatever, scene relevant to the central plot.
And is this beginning too confusing or overwhelming for a reader to acclimate to?
Prologue Don't Number 6: Using the prologue strictly to provide some
atmosphere or to do some early-on world building.
World building is one of the things I love most about fantasy, and science fiction(Sci-Fi.)
So let me put that down there.
However, proceed with caution if using the prologue strictly to provide some world building
elements, or set the tone.
Often, these elements can be weaved into your opening chapters without the need for a prologue.
However, like anything in this industry, the use of prologues is subjective.
Not to mention, skilled writers have a way of proving us wrong every time.
So, when should prologues be utilized?
In other words, when are they an asset to your story?
Prologues should supply information that is or will be relevant to the central plot.
Often the prologue does not include the protagonist, and takes place outside the central plot timeline,
though it does not always happen this way.
Here are three examples of different types of prologues:
The first prologue type is what I like to call the:
Background or Historical Prologue This type of prologue is provides background
to the history of events that might have previously transpired in this world, such as a major
battle or betrayal.
These events typically take place before the story began, and somehow impact the over-arching
plot.
The second prologue type that I like to call, which has no official name, is the:
Different POV, or Points of View As many of you know, debut authors are encouraged
to limit the number of POVs that they have in the story, and again, POV is points of
view, AKA the person narrating that scene.
I've heard some industry professionals say kind of cap out around six different POVs,
but like everything else, it's pretty subjective.
So this different POV prologue can be advantageous for the author who loves different POVs.
Guilty as charged.
So, if you have a character that is not going to come up later in your book, and somehow
impacts the beginning events of your story, you may want to consider using this type of
prologue.
The third type of prologue you could do, is: The Past or Future Protagonist
These prologues are great for showing that pivotal moment that happens to your protagonist
either in the past, or in the future.
Which could be a defining moment that happened years ago in the past, or after the main plot
has taken place in the future.
Alright, so let's jump into a couple of strengths of your prologue.
Fear not writers, prologues aren't all bad.
They do come in handy for a number of scenarios.
The first is to provide a quick and dirty glimpse and important background information
without the need for things like flashbacks, dialogue, or other things that would interrupt
the action later on in the book.
The second advantage of a prologue is to hook the readers into the action right away, while
having them ask important questions that are relevant to the plot.
Which then hopefully has them eagerly reading chapters one, two, and three to get the answers.
The third prologue advantage is to offer information that the reader couldn't otherwise gleam from
the plot; such as another point of view narration, or a different perspective.
You could also introduce the antagonist, providing background motives that either humanizes the
character or shows them as this evil identity, this angle could be handy if the protagonist
doesn't meet the antagonist until much later in the book.
The fifth prologue strength is to introduce a religious belief, or other cultural background
information that is important to the plot.
The final strength, or at least that we have listed here, is to foreshadow the future events.
In-so-doing, you will probably have readers, well, hopefully, asking questions and eager
to read on to find the answers.
Alright, so if you watched this whole video and you still have no idea if you should include
a prologue, ask yourself these questions.
What information am I providing in the prologue?
Why is it important to reveal it upfront?
Can this information be revealed throughout the story, in smaller trickles, and still
be as impactful?
Does this character's POV of Point of view come up again later in the story?
If so, would this prologue work instead as a good chapter one?

Red Mountain Insurance Group – Birmingham, AL | Allstate Agents - Duration: 0:55.
My name is Brian Campbell. I'm in Birmingham, Alabama. This community is
special to me as an agent because I was born and raised here in Birmingham.
Although it's a big city, where our agency is located gives us a nice
small-town feeling, where we try to get to know customers on a personal level.
That's something that I hear the most when they come to our office is that they
are actually getting to work with me, the agent, versus a prior experience where
they work with different people or a different someone in the office and
obviously take a lot of pride in that. I'm passionate about being an agent
because I love helping families. I've been doing this now over seven years and
getting to work with families from when they're beginning to all
through different stages of their lives really brings a lot of joy to us and our
agency and me personally

Carrot & Coconut Soup Recipe #ad - Duration: 7:34.
- Hey, everyone.
It's Barry here.
Welcome to My Virgin Kitchen.
I hope you are well.
In today's sponsored video from Heinz,
we are taking part in the Super Fresh Taste Test.
Probably quite in itself explanatory title,
but it's also a very cool food pun,
which as you guys know, I love.
These soups are supposed to taste super fresh,
as if you've just made them from scratch
despite being stored in the cupboard
rather than the fridge.
And to test this out,
the boffins at Heinz have given us
the actual top secret recipe
to cook and compare at the end.
I recognise that guy from somewhere.
Anyhow, the Heinz Soup of the Day we're tackling today
is gonna be the Fragrant Thai Carrot and Coconut Soup,
which is handily in this carton right here.
But I'm making it from scratch here in the barn kitchen,
whereas Mrs. Barry is making it at home.
(upbeat music)
Alright, first step,
prepare my vegetables.
Let's do it.
(knife chopping)
(upbeat music)
With my stock and vegetables in there,
it's time to simmer this down
for 20 minutes with the lid on.
(upbeat music)
It's whizzin' time.
(blender running)
(upbeat music)
I was in a bit of a trance there,
that white hitting the soup.
It's looking so, so good,
and what I love about homemade soup,
there's no additives,
no crazy colorings or preservatives
or sugars or nasty bits.
It's all in there goodness.
- So, this is basically just like fresh soup
out of your cupboard
with no extra sugar or artificial colorings.
- Alrighty, here is my soup all nice and protected.
The smell is phenomenal.
I really hope it's worth the effort.
Let's go see how Mrs. Barry's got on.
Alright, I am back.
It's still warm,
which is awesome
because I'm only a short drive away.
Oh, yours is looking good.
- It is.
Mine's ready.
- First thing that I'm looking at is the colour difference.
Look at that.
It's quite similar.
- [Mrs. Barry] It's quite similar.
It is.
- I'm proud of it.
Both of them smell nice to be fair.
Shall we have a little munch?
A little taste? - Yes, let's taste them.
- Let's do it.
(upbeat music)
First up, not gonna lie.
Mrs. Barry, are you boosted up there?
- Yeah, I am.
I'm sat on a couple of cushions
to make me look at bit taller than what I am.
- It's good.
It feels good like this.
We feel dominant,
and we've got our soup to survey,
but we're not the only ones surveying it.
- No, I think the dogs are pretty interested as well.
They want to try some.
- They're super ah, excited. - Ah, funny.
- I feel like I'm on some sort of judging show or contest.
Sit.
Mrs. Barry had the Heinz Soup of the Day
Fragrant Thai Carrot and Coconut Soup,
and I did the top-secret Heinz recipe,
and to be honest,
it's soup.
I'm excited either way.
Should we go for taste first?
- Yes.
- 'Cause that's the best bit, right?
- Let's try it.
- Alright, here we go.
- Let's try the Heinz one first.
- Okay.
- Mmmmm.
- Is that good?
I don't know why my nose was fooling me now.
I could just smell it.
- It's like a chilli, oh my gosh,
my mouth's on fire.
- Mrs. Barry doesn't like chilli.
- No, no, I like that though.
- Oh wow. - I like that.
It's a good kick. - Now that's good.
- A good kick.
- A good kick.
Actually, ladies first.
(laughs) - Oh, okay.
Try yours now.
- I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this.
- Oh, is it gonna taste nice now?
- I felt like I was like a proper boffin
going for it. - Did you?
- I love making homemade soup anyway.
What?
- That does have a kick to it as well.
(both laugh)
- Oh, that is good, too.
I've got to be honest,
that is nice,
but that's good.
- That's good.
- They're both good.
The only thing I would say about my one,
it's a teeny bit too watery for my liking.
- Yeah, it is.
- It doesn't feel like a,
I don't know,
maybe I didn't cook it as long or something.
With that, it kind of feels like a bit more like (grunts),
I don't know, a bit more texture to it.
It's a bit soupier.
- It's a thick, smooth soup.
- Yes.
You might not be able to hear it,
but it's so tasty,
even the neighbor's dog's getting excited about it.
(both laugh)
So, I apologise if you hear,
I don't even know his name.
Is it a boy?
- I don't know.
It's a dog.
- Imagine if his name is Heinz.
Heinz!
- Heinz! Heinz!
- I'm gonna give you the taste on that.
I think you just shade it.
Although I really enjoyed,
I mean, they're both really nice recipes,
but I think I prefer my soup a little thicker,
and there seemed to be a little bit more depth to that.
- Yeah.
- This is like a marriage.
- Like a marriage.
Anyone would think we were married.
Wow, this one literally took me a couple of minutes.
I just got the carton out of the cupboard,
poured it in a saucepan,
and there you go.
Let it heat up,
and it's done.
What about you?
- About a half an hour.
So, I guess from a convenience point of view,
if you're at work having something for lunch,
that would be amazing,
but there is something
that that's nice charm of making your own homemade soup.
- Yeah, yeah there is that.
It's quite satisfying,
but it's quite a long, timely process.
- And if the criteria is time,
it wins.
- Then, the Heinz Soup of the Day wins.
- (sings) No, I don't want no faff
(hums) nobody like me.
Sorry.
What do you think no faff means?
I think it's similar to time in terms of like the effort.
- The effort, yeah.
So, this one was effortless.
- (sings) I don't want no faff.
- So, this is no faff involved.
You literally get the carton out of the cupboard.
- Put it in, yeah.
- Put it in the saucepan just like--
- I think people know how to make soup.
- I think so, sorry.
- That's the point of no faff, right?
No faff. - Yeah,
it was really simple to do.
Really simple.
- I just like faff.
- No faff.
- Faff.
- So, if you've got your kids running around screaming--
- Faff.
- And they're hungry--
- Faff.
- You can just get it out of the cupboard--
- Faff.
- And it tastes just as good as fresh soup in the cupboard.
- Faff.
- You need a good amount of time to make a homemade soup.
- You do.
- Like half a day.
- Yeah.
- Or a day.
- And then normally, you justify the flavour,
but now I'm just thinking, "Oh, yeah."
- But they taste pretty similar, so--
- They don't, they.
Now I've got a second taste,
I'm like, "That's the boss."
- Okay, this one's the better one?
- In conclusion then, Mrs. Barry,
I just want to say I've always wanted to sort of square up
to like an actual recipe thing
that you can get on the shelf like that
that you can pick up and go,
"Yeah, I want to make that from home."
The boffins at Heinz have given me a recipe,
and think it was a fair fight.
- I do, too.
- Thank you so much to Heinz for sponsoring this video.
If you want to go to Heinz.co.uk,
you can find out much more about the Heinz Soups of the Day,
and I'm gonna just swap over there.
Not that I don't like that.
I just prefer this one a little bit.
Mmmmm.
- Save some for me.
- See you next time. - A little.

Jordana Afonso - Flat Twists on 4C Hair | Straight Back Twists | Protective Hair Style 2017 - Duration: 6:01.
hi everybody it's me again welcome back to another video if you like is
protective hairstyle and you want to know how I achieved it please keep watching
I have been wearing my hair in this low bun for about three days
which has allowed my hair to stretch
To create this style I am starting with stretched hair
My hair is quite wavy at the moment because I had it a single twist for bed
last night but it is still pretty much stretched I
I want to have big flat twists all going back but with my parting slightly
slanted instead of a straight line
in order to make my parting slanted I use
I used the side parting that is already there in order to help me to figure out where
to start parting from.
My parting isn't straight but I'm not going to worry
about that too much
doing here isn't really my expertise.
So having to part it myself is quite difficult.
Now for those people that are able to do their own hair I don't know how they do it but this is the best I can do.
So I'm going to put this side away.
So that it doesn't get caught
with
the side I've left out when I do start to twist it.
My hair is feeling dry so I am going to
add a bit of moisture to it
To moisturize my hair, I first sprayed it with water and then I added the 'As I am'
I think it is called daily moisturizer I'm going to have a picture pop up right now
I've had this moisturizer for about six months, used it once and I did not like
how it made my hair feel but I wanted to give it a try anyway just to see how I
get on with it and surprisingly I loved the way it made my hair feel this time round.
I'm moving on to the second twist but I'm not going to create a new line
I'm just going to extend that side parting all the way back
So just like I did before I'm going to hold my hair with a hair band so that I don't
accidentally grab it while I am doing the twists.
I've done two twists on one side and now I'm going to move on to do the middle.
So I'm going to have one, two, three, four, five twist in total all going back.
Now that I'm moving on to the middle I'm going to start with creating another side parting which I want to
match the first.
I'm using the comb to figure out where on my face the parting is so I can work out where to create it on the opposite side.
I won't get it to perfect but as long as it's close I'll be okay with it
In case you are wondering I keep looking to my left because that is where the mirror is positioned
if you want to know how to flat twist then please
search for flat twist tutorials on YouTube and there will be plenty of
videos that will come up showing you exactly how to flat twist.
I am not good at flat twists or braiding for that matter so I don't really feel like I am
in a position to give you any tutorials on how to flat twist.
But if you do want to see how I flat twist my hair, I can do a video for you showing you how I do it
and if you do want to see a video then please leave me a comment on the comment
section below I will be more than happy to do a video for you.
I live in the UK guys and I'm telling you winter is upon us and yes this is a season for scarves
and wooly hat and for me it's definitely time to take them out
I think wearing my hair like this will be great especially if I do want to wear
hats in this cold weather and still have a cute and professional hairstyle
when I remove my hat.
And yes I think this hairstyle is professional and I will be wearing it to work.
You can use bobby pins to pin down the ends which was what
I initially did but I changed my mind and I decided to wear it in a hairband instead.
Now, I'm using this 'Eco Styler' gel just to neaten out the front of my hair.
I'm using just the small amounts because I'm really not crazy on gels and
I don't really care much about baby hair.
so just a small amount will work just fine
and then I apply my scarf just so that the gel that I have placed on my
edges can set.
I left a scarf on for about
I would probably say about ten minutes and this was a result after I removed the scarf.
If you do like it please leave me a comment please like my video and share it.
And I will see you again on my next video.
Bye everyone and thank you very much for watching
see you next time

NEW! REVLON PHOTOREADY INSTA FILTER FOUNDATION REVIEW | WOC - Duration: 5:06.
Hey guys so today, I'm going to be doing a demo and I guess review the first impression of the new
Revlon insta filter foundation, this is the
Revlon Photoready instafilter foundation. I have the shade 410 here so this foundation retails for
Basically anywhere from 13 to almost like $20
So it's pretty pricey for a drugstore foundation with that price range
I did get the shade 410 and the foundation comes in this bottle
It's point nine one fluid ounces, and it has a sponge on it which
Yeah, so this is the applicator for the foundation and it did apply to over my face
I will let you guys know what I think about it right now
so if you want to see the demo just keep watching, but for my review the first thing about this foundation that I
Didn't like is the price. I feel like it's just a little bit overpriced for drugstore and
that's just my thought on that the shade range is also pretty crappy the next thing that I didn't like about the foundation is the
Sponge applicator it's just really hard and stiff
And it makes no sense as to why they would put you know this on here like I feel like memory foam
Mattresses or softer than this. I don't know what the point of this is it just really wouldn't make any sense to me
I just don't see how you could blend out your foundation really flawlessly with this
sponge
it's also pretty messy cuz this thing goes in here and it just I
Feel like it's just a whole mess it does twist up to get the product up in case you were wondering so
Yeah, I'm not really fond of the whole concept of the foundation the fact that it's called insta filter I'm expecting it to be
like full cover flawless filter high medium to full coverage
I guess so I'm just going to read you guys what it says on line
It says if there is a unique built in sponge applicator
Which is supposed to make it easy to blend a foundation that is not the no case?
It is not easy to blend with that sponge
innovative formula works with your skin so even and smooth skin tone
It is not full cover at all. I mean. I just don't feel like it smooth. Even my skin tone as well as other
Foundations do its is a medium buildable coverage
I would say definitely medium coverage, but as far as it been built about I'm I guess they're implying to full coverage
I thought I when I built on the foundation is started to look cakey and it looks a little bit cakey on me right now
And you know I mean people know I'm wearing makeup, but for it to look like cakey it's another thing so yeah
It's also has SPF 20
Which could explain the cast and does have a white ish cast on it even though I picked out a deeper shade
I felt like this would be perfect because it has SPF 20
It is
Showing a white cast on me with which looks a little bit
Actually, I feel like and it's supposed to be all-day wear
Which I will not know because I do not like this foundation at this point, so I will not be wearing it all day
So I'm just not a big fan of this foundation
I feel like it would make a lot more sense a different name and with a different packaging and
For what it's calling itself. I just don't feel like it's that. I honestly
I honestly feel like the Revlon, Colorstay
What is it the Revlon the regular?
Like well-known Revlon like it's more of a filter than this one
I have way better drugstore foundations than this one the name makes it seem like something that it's not like I'm expecting like
a huda beauty
Fenty beauty filter foundation, and this one is just not that so yeah
That's basically it you guys it is not my cup of tea
and
Alright guys, so I have the foundation all over my face, and I do not really like it

ASL SIGNS : STRANGER THINGS - Duration: 7:10.
And while watching it, I came upon this genius idea.
That I should make this video an ASL Sign video based on STRANGER THINGS.
So really, what I'm going to do is come up with words that are used in the show.
Yep.
There are not a lot of words in that TV show because there's only 17 episodes, and they already finished two seasons.
I want to watch more!
Alright.
This sign is the name of the show—
STRANGE
STRANGE, but I think it's similar to STRANGER.
It doesn't mean, like, a noun, you know STRANGER, like, a person that you don't know. It's not what it means.
It's—STRANGER THINGS.
You go like that—THINGS.
It's simple. Really.
I don't know how else to explain that. You just use your whole hand, and you go like that.
STRANGER....THINGS.
It is taking place in the—80s.
You go like this—8...0...and then the S goes around.
Like you're going this way!
80s
A little bit more faster—80s.
In the very beginning of season 1, Will Byers—DISAPPEARED.
You go like this—DISAPPEARED.
Try to move your index finger from the other fingers.
And then, your other index finger goes right in here.
DISAPPEARED
This one means UP HERE.
DISAPPEAR
UP HERE
DISAPPEAR
And this one is—ESCAPE.
ESCAPE
And then, ELEVEN comes along.
So you go like this—ELEVEN.
I do that because this is a number. Really!
ELEVEN
See?
Then, somewhere in season 1 where Will Byers' mom has CHRISTMAS LIGHTS around the house.
You go like this—CHRISTMAS.
You make a C, and then go like that.
CHRISTMAS because—TREE. CHRISTMAS TREE.
But, there's no tree involved.
CHRISTMAS
LIGHTS
You go like this—
Make an 8 again.
And go like that—LIGHTS.
Like you're flicking at yourself.
You know what I mean?
LIGHTS
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
To COMMUNICATE...
with her son.
So you make a C and then go like this, back and forth.
COMMUNICATE
ELEVEN has MIND CONTROL.
It's simple. Go like this, you're just pointing at your head.
'Cause that's where your mind is.
MIND...CONTROL
You go like this—
like a pirate hook.
And then you go like that.
MIND CONTROL
This next sign is my own sign, like, I came up with it.
You can use it, I don't care.
Or, you can come up with your own.
I don't care.
So, you go like this—
and this means UPSIDE DOWN.
That's kind of my sign.
UPSIDE DOWN
I like it that way.
Jonathan owns a CAMERA.
You go like this—just pretend you're taking a picture.
Ok. This next one I'm going to show you is like, a few sayings that Eleven...
ELEVEN...
says in the show, which is FRIENDS...
DON'T...
LIE.
Go like this—
Again, with the pirate hook.
FRIENDS
DON'T
Go like this—
DON'T
LIE
LIE
I think I made a B, and then you go like this—LIE.
And another one is...
PROMISE
PROMISE
It could be either a question...and actually...
there's another saying that Eleven would say is PROMISE.
Go like this—
and then, Bam! like that.
PROMISE
Hopper is a COP.
POLICE OFFICER
Um...
Yeah, COP, POLICE OFFICER, DEPUTY, you go like a C.
Um...
The Hawkins Lab is full of SECRET EXPERIMENTS.
I go like this—
SECRET, um, like this...
put the thumb down and go like this—SECRET
EXPERIMENTS
RED
LIGHTNING
Only your index finger and go like this—RED
and then,
pretend this is like, the sky.
And, you go like this—LIGHTNING.
Pretend you're making lightning.
Zig, zag, zag.
When ELEVEN does MIND CONTROL, her nose BLEEDS.
Like BLOOD.
BLOOD
ELEVEN likes WAFFLES,
which are Eggos.
Make a W,
you go like this—
You flip it over,
WAFFLES.
WAFFLES
WAFFLES
Eggos.
That was the end of this video.
I hope you really, really, really liked this video if you watch Stranger Things.
And...
give it a big thumbs up!
Subscribe!
Um...
yeah!
Bye!!

What Turks know about POLAND? [Kult America] - Duration: 4:07.
Many people don't realize that Poland and Turkey share some common history.
For example Adam Mickiewicz died in Istanbul,
There's also a village that was founded by a Pole, not far from Istanbul.
But on today's episode of Kult America I'm exploring the streets of Istanbul
to find out what common Turks know about Poland.
What comes to your mind when you hear "Poland"?
I think about dances and beautiful girls,
Also some kind of wooden dolls. That's all that comes to my mind.
I know nothing about Poland.
Nothing?
Nothing.
What is the capital of Poland?
No idea.
Lord knows, nothing comes to my mind.
I've heard the name of the country, but I don't know what are they doing there...
Are they doing breeding or something?
I don't know much about Poland, I know more about Canada.
Its the country that is very close to Germany.
And it's about the same size.
I know Poland because of the WWII.
I don't know much,
but I know that Poland used to have some troubles with Germany.
Actually, we don't have that much
business relations with Poland.
So if you ask me or any Turk about Poland
no one would know a thing.
What do you know about Poland?
Men wear skirts there.
And Poland also has cherries.
Do you know any famous polish person?
Maybe a premier, or...
Lewandowski!
I know Lewandowski! Everybody knows him.
Do you know any famous Pole?
No. Only Lewandowski.
I know about Lech Wałęsa.
He was fighting to make Poland a free country.
He fought and he won. I like him.
Do you know where Poland lays?
What continent?
In Africa?
Maybe...
Asia?
In Europe, in Europe.
No, I have no idea.
Somewhere on the top of Europe.
Somewhere above Germany? Or beside...
Somewhere close to Germany.
Do you know where Poland is located?
I swear to God, I don't know.
In Africa, or Asia? Or in Europe?
I don't know, no idea.
I am not sure, but it is close to Lithuania.
It is a neighbor of Russia and Germany.
That's all I know.
Somewhere near Russia, but I'm just guessing.
Have you heard about Polonezkoy?
I did.
Do you know it was founded by a Pole?
I do. I go there often so I know.
Did you make friends with any Pole?
I did, I know a few families.
I know that there's a huge polish community.
Polish people built it? That's such a beautiful place. Poland must be so amazing.
It is very beautiful. I've been there a few times.
If the whole Poland is like that town, it is an outstanding country.
We'll show this video to Poles. Maybe you have a message for them?
Of course. We are all humans,
and with the help of God we will live in peace and love.
I wish our relationships will be better, and we'll have common businesses.
I love Polish people
They are quite special.
It's the country I consider to be our friend.
It's the country that we love.
Poland is very special to me.
It seems that young Turks knew about polish football heroes.
wheres older people kind of knew about legendary figures like Lech Wałęsa.
But if you are curious about the greater connection between Turkey and Poland
I highly recommend you watch the two video that I've produced here about a year ago
"Adam Mickiewicz died in Istanbul" and "Visiting Polish village in Asia".
It's not the very obvious connection, but all the same the connection is there.
Thank you for watching Kult America and please subscribe.

Tax Benefits of Donating Flow-Through Shares | Do It Together Financial Planning with Peter Guay - Duration: 3:10.
I've talked a lot about donations whether they're cash, land, or securities but I'm
not done.
There's one more I'd like to discuss: flow-through shares.
I'm Peter Guay of PWL Capital, and in today's "Do It Together" segment, our final video
on donations looks at the benefits of donating flow-through shares.
If you're new to my donation series, this is my third video.
You can catch up on the previous two by clicking on the links below or subscribe so you don't
miss out.
Flow-through share donation plans are promoted by financial services companies.
They are commonly based on corporations in the oil & gas, mining and renewable energy
sectors.
It can get complicated, but here are the basic mechanics: you purchase flow-through shares
in companies for which you can claim Canadian Exploration Expense tax credits and the equivalent
tax credits in Quebec.
These tax credits are substantial.
When you then donate these flow-through shares to a Canadian registered charity, you also
get a donation tax credit for the market value of the shares.
The charity then sells the shares to a 3rd party institutional buyer to monetize the
donation.
All told, the after tax cost of the donation is in the realm of 10 to 20% of the amount
donated.
Now I've talked about the benefits but there are pitfalls you should be aware of.
The financial services companies managing these take very high fees.
There's also a reason the mining tax credits are so high: these are very risky investments.
There is also a risk of governments changing their minds about taxation of these schemes. They
are aggressive: you are doubling up on mining/exploration tax deductions and donation tax
credits.
Though they get technical interpretations from CRA, these are not binding and leave
open the possibility that CRA shuts down this mechanism like they did with the film credit
donation schemes in the 90's.
Many of them had to distribute large capital gains to investors many years after the fact
as CRA went after these structures.
So, like I said, it can get a little complicated!
If you're willing to live with the possibility that the CRA might reduce the benefit retroactively
(and cause you an unexpected big bill after the fact), then they are worth a look.
But one of my guiding principles is that there is a value to simplicity...I personally avoid
complex structures like this for that reason.
And that's it for donations.
In my next video, I'll be discussing a few house cleaning tips for your finances.
Don't forget to click the bell so you get notified when I upload that video.

Muzeul etnografic IOAN GRAMADA Ethnographic Museum, Part. 5 (Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Romania) - Duration: 9:20.
Mr. Ioan Gramada, the museum's creator, is our guide
This space, built at the same time with the old house, had various uses in the traditional Bucovina household
It is now used as a museum space
Here we set up a documentary-historical exhibition "Campulung Moldovenesc Of Days Gone By"
April 14, 1411, is the date when the first documentary attestation of Campulung Moldovenesc ("The Long Moldavian Field")
It is the time when the great ruler Alexandru cel Bun (1400-1432) mentioned it in an act of donation:
"We gave to the Moldovita Monastery, the Vama village, above Campulung"
Vama and Campulung there has been up to then, but then it is the first time mentioned in a royal act
Being a documentary-historical exhibition, we set up a small exhibition here
with all the Mayors of Câmpulung, starting with the oldest, chronologically, to the current one
Reffering us to the mayors, we have a unique act; would still be valid and now
About 80 years ago, no one could be elected mayor without this "Morality Attestation"
It was issued by "The advice of the wise men, or the elders" from each town hall
So, in the choice of the mayor, the moral behavior of man is very important
and not the desire for enrichment overnight, as is happening now
We still hear, unfortunately, a little children saying in the electoral campaign: "My uncle will be the mayor, he will get rich"
So he does not realize that the mayor has to be at the disposal of men and not the other way around
I honestly tell you and not that "After the war many brave men are showing"
I've eaten this bread for about 12 years. I was mayor eight years old at Moldovita, Iacobeni, Sadna, Pojorata,
but honestly I say to you, at that time I did not have situations when my colleagues came under the law
for corruption or bribery
He took one cognac, he had some talks with some neighbor, but there were no such situations as it is, unfortunately, now
Celebrities at 600 years (from attestation?!)
And here two words, I promised you, about the hero of Bucovina, Ion Gramada
I proudly wear his name
As I was telling you, my grandfather from father was a close relative to his parents and grandparents
Who was the hero Ion Gramada?
He was born in 1886 in Zahareşti, near Suceava; he was the rector of the University of Chernivtsi
Professor of history, poet, writer, journalist. He took his doctorate in Vienna with "magna cum laude"
In the First World War he asked, as a journalist, to volunteer on the front, even in the first line
The former war Minister, Ion Alexandrescu, somewhat grateful that the hero taught his two children
the Minister said, "Ioan Gramada stay at my office because you are very smart and you have impeccable writing"
The hero contradicted him: "Mr. Minister, my place is on the front!"
And he fought in Bacau, Ciresoaia, where he fell in debt defending a battery with Romanian soldiers
He was brought to the Heroes' Cemetery in Suceava
Every year at August 27, we make a memorial service
(here are) A few objects that belonged to him
In Campulung (Moldovenesc), over 200 Jewish families have lived, you have heard
It is also and the Jewish Cemetery (in Câmpulung)
Hebrews who get on very well with locals
Interestingly, at every census, they declared that they are not Jews, they said they were Romanians
and not to be persecuted, just as it happened, being blamed just to be born Jews
Some of the personalities who visited Campulung; only one case I give you
The great poet Eminescu did not come to visit only for courtesy
He wanted to meet with outstanding people in terms of spiritual life
The great poet Eminescu had his younger sister, Aglae, married to Câmpulung with the father of Dr. Gareiss (von Döllizsturm)
The father of Dr. Gareiss had his house next to the actual Fire Unit
So his father was married to Aglae (1852-1900), Eminescu's younger sister
Besides, Eminescu had meetings with outstanding people of Câmpulung, he founded cenacles, magazines
Always, poet Eminescu was accompanied by the composer Ciprian Porumbescu
The (orthodox) priest Heraclin (?) was on the brink of marrying in a neighboring community, Breaza, with the richest girl
The girl, being very much craving after fortune, did not agree hearing that the priest is more modest
from this point of view and she married a future mayor, Kocinski (?), you have heard of him
Also it is history: in 1966 Ceausescu visited Câmpulung, (this) is the original canteen
Câmpulung also had a football team in Division A, 1948-1952
It is believed that the current Steaua club would have been made up of a few descendants since then
Other personalities who visited Câmpulung,
books and authors from Câmpulung, book launches
Here I wanted to represent the beautiful traditions of winter holidays
We start with the eve of Christmas, follow gendarmes, "bombiers" (?), different masked men
For our householder, it was a pride to assist in his yard at the play of bears, of goats
Here we enter a folkloric moment, every year in St. Nicholas Day
International Folklore Festival attended by 5 countries now
with Bucovinians that remained there in the course of time
We have the "Bucovina Coral", distinguished with many awards, folk ensembles of children
Here we enter a corner of history
Here we have a very interesting piece, a hand-woven stamp made in Vienna in 1740 (probably correct 1840)
it was made at a specialized workshop in Vienna: Bucovinean girl meets an (Austrian) officer with sword (?)
The corner of history: Map of Great Romania, better, the map that hurts us
It hurts us because we always talk about it in the past
We had the Cadrilater - we do not have it, we had Bessarabia - we do not have it, northern Bucovina, northeastern Transylvania
Perhaps the history will straighten something
Here is a picture of the main voivodes of Moldavia and Wallachia
Here is Stephen the Great, an old painting, Stephen the Great and Holy, riding on his white horse, some of his foundations
You recognize it, the Sistine Chapel (of Moldavia, Voronet Monastery)
Here, finally, let me tell you something in brief and very interesting:
For this corner of history, I have been looking for a picture of Emperor Franz Joseph for four months
Because he was the emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (occupying Bucovina, 1775-1918)
and I wanted to have it in this corner of history
I honestly tell you that for four months almost every evening I was going to an old man, and I asked
Do not you have a picture with Emperor Franz Joseph? Always the same answer: - No!
Instead, he had received another painting of another style and I wanted to use the frame
Here was, like now, this drawing made by a child, a watercolor
Without knowing, when I broke up, what I had been looking for for four months
was hidden, was masked by that child work
So, Emperor Franz Joseph with Josephine (in fact Elisabeth - Sisi), with all the family
And I wondered how it was possible, a painting, though lithograph, but important in historical terms
was hidden, was masked
And I realized that after 23 August 1944, so the political regime had changed,
householders were afraid to keep a painting with King Mihai (of Romania), Franz Joseph, and hide them
I was also seeing in my father's prayer books:
"The book was edited at the time of King Carol" was wiped with a chemical pencil .. these were the times then
Stephen the Great who gave the Putna Monastery several mills and grains
From Scheii Brasovului a reproduction with all the voivodes of Moldavia and the Wallachia
And a reproduction of Dacia's old map
Needless to say, we were getting closer to Mesopotamia
Dacians, a people with a thriving civilization
It was said that we have not inspired ourselves from the Romans, the Romans have learned from us ... and many things
We are the only people who have raised statues to those who conquered us, who stole our gold and so many things
